You will learn a lot here. No need to buy the book as most of the test is from lecture & study guides, go over your notes and thee is no reason not to get an A. Don't expect to get out of class early that is the only downside.

Mr. Houska is a great professor. He is very clear and helps you when you need it. His exam are fairly easy because he gives you a study guide and notes, basically, he tells you what to learn and study for on the test. Also Mr. Houska is not a boring person in lecture he tries to make jokes to keep you awake.

Any one can stand in front of class and read off powerpoints, but I prefer Dr. Houska's drawings on the board as he walks you through difficult concepts step by step. In his class, you actually LEARN, not just memorize info. Feel better prepared for nursing. Take good notes, use his manual, and study, and you should get an A. GREAT teacher!!!

he's slightly pessimistic and not very approachable; however, his class is easy b/c he talks slow so we don't cover much material& he also has practice tests. 4 easy lecture tests including the final& 3 lab tests. drops the lowest lecture test. he actually encouraged us NOT to read the textbook/to only look at it if we were confused about something

Wow, I have walked out of these class learning so much in depth about human body... I am taking a nursing class now and I find myself looking back to my diagrams and notes from Professor Houska's class to connect nursing and a&p together. They all make sense and I can actually understand nursing!

Worst professor I have ever had. He goes off on topics and his lectures are impossible to understand. His drawings look nothing like how they should be and study guides did not really help. Not an easy A at all.

Good instructor go to the tutoring and especially for first test you should make at least a B, there is a pathway to success in this class

Excellent class. I took it over the summer so it was a bit more accelerated, but I'm glad I did. If you pay attention to his lectures (attend every one!) and study for 30 minutes to an hour after every class you should be fine. Utilize bluedoor and take all the tests/quizzes in the lecture/lab study guides. Good luck!

He is tough and you will find yourself doing all the work on your own. He just talks and draws diagrams on the board which eventually pile up and don't make sense when you go back to look at them. He doesn't use powerpoint either so you have to be quick to write down what he said. I found him to be tough and the tests were tough. Don't like method.

No homework. Textbook not necessary for either course. If you take it in the fall or spring there is no attendance for class but the lab takes attendance. First exam doesnt have extra credit but after that there is extracredit on the tests (5-12 points). For final grade has his own grading scale. This semester 440500 was A (dropped lowest test).

Amazing Professor! People are saying he's hard but he really isn't. You have to work for the grade you want, use his study guide, and take good notes. his tests are based on if you understand the material, you need to learn it not just memorize it to pass! labs are an easy A. Totally Recommend this professor Passed with an A!

I have previously taken both of his anatomy and physiology classes. I came to rate this professor because I am now in nursing program and I realized how much materials I actually learned in class is helping me in nursing . Prof Houska draws to help his students UNDERSTAND the materials for further education. He is fair, and by far the BEST!

Takes up to a week to grade scantron tests, sometimes longer. Uses no powerpoints, relies solely on his drawings, which are not good at all. His notes on the board can be very confusing. He will move tests back and will give no email notice, so if you don't show up to class, make sure to make friends. For lecture, I would not recommend him.

Nothing to study off of except for his drawings on the board, which are all over the place.

You will really learn, and more importantly you will learn to think outside the box. That is the greatest gift that not every professor can make a reality. If you are a neat person who likes neat and orderly notes, be prepared to get frustrated (only con).

Amazing professor! Took him for anatomy and physio and I'm glad I did. I learned so much from him, once i took him for anatomy he motivated me to work hard for my grade. he draws on the board which helps so much if your a visual learner, his tests are knowledge based and are easy if you study. Got an 'A' in both classes. definitely recommend him :)

Tough class but interesting! Show up to the lectures and memorize your lab & lecture manuals before tests and you will pass!! The way he teaches is so different from other professors, no only does he explain whats happening in the body but WHY its happening, this makes you create connections and helps tremendously to understand the information! A++

Lectures were unstructured, lacked depth, and filled with barely relevant tangents. Messy diagrams and a lot of jumping back and forth between topics. He doesn't use notes, so he forgets to tell you things. Study guides and tests had information not covered in lecture. I did well through self-study. Well-meaning person, not a great teacher.
