Good teacher, takes extra time to explain things, very helpful, I still hate math though.
He's so awesome! I HATE math cause I suck so bad at it, but he makes it comprehensible. He has a sense of humor, and a genuinely kind attitude. Plus he's young and has long hair, so he's a hottie. Too bad he's married! (She's a lucky lady)!!
For Math 20 he gave us 6 exams and 1 final. I strongly recomend taking his practice tests. This class is very rigorous, and lots of hw is given. He will spend at least 20 mins explaining a proof, which is useless and drives me insane to listen to. In the future I will not take anymore courses with this professor.
Easy?Hard?I really cant say. You could easily get an A if you were a Homework person adn would turn them in. I was the person who did not do most of his HWs and screwed my grade. Exams would be easy with his Practice tests but Final gosh was hard. teaches via slides and a bit fast. But what a kind and young good looking guy. He's from LA and San Jose
He was extremely helpful throughout the entirety of the course. He consistently stopped and answered questions until the asker was satisfied. Provided a lot of comedy relief since math can be boring. Great professor!
I highly enjoyed having this instructor. He is very thorough, patient and organized. He's laid back yet still very demanding. He rewards hard work not laziness. He does a GREAT job of preparing students for tests. He has a delightful sense of humor and great rapport with the students. He is truly passionate about what he does, and it really shows:)
The pace is too quick. He gives out practice tests that have the same problems as the real test, with different numbers, but it's hard to follow how he's worked them out. He doesn't give tests at the end of the chapter. He waits a couple of weeks until you have moved on to something new and can't remember the last chapter...
Before taking Howard's Intermediate Algebra course, I was scared to death of math. Howard strives to reduce "math anxiety," and is successful through his use of no-fail homework requirements, practice tests that prepare students for exams, and encouragement of asking lots of questions. Howard Blumenfeld is an EXCELLENT math instructor.
There's no question HB knows math, its his ability to teach it. Basically he selects random Qs from the text and works them on the board. Minimal explanation of HOW to work it; no opportunities to ask questions on hw/tests; your grade is entirely based on your test scores (no ec, either); his general style for explanation is odd, too.
Gives 6 tests and a final, too many in my opinion. lots of hw but it's graded easy. most of your grade is based on tests, 1 is dropped though. He gives practice tests that help for the real test, make sure to study word problems he does in class cause he loves testing on word problems. He threw us a screwball on the final, so watch out he's tricky!
Goes through hw questions as examples in class which is helpful, but actual assigned hw problems can be tricky. I like that he gives out study guides w/answers before exams, but actual exams are tougher- 15 problems to complete within 45 minutes. I always struggled to finish in time. I wished he would go through harder problems in class.
Great prof. Did better than I expected to do even though I hate math.
I highly recommened Mr.Blumenfeld for any Math class he may be teaching. He is very clear with what to expect from his class. He goes into great detail on each subject he is teaching, and if you take notes it will be very helpful for when you do homework. He is very professional and fair as a teacher. At the same time he manages to make math fun.
Love this guy! Best math teacher I've had since Middle School! He clearly explains everything. Love that he gives out practice tests! If you can master the practice test, you'll pass the test with flying colors. I hope to have him as a teacher again as I further my math education!
He's awesome! Only math teacher I've ever had to make me actually understand it! He gives out practice tests, and drops your worst test grade at the end of the year for your final grade. He is a great teacher! And he's young, so he hasn't lost touch with reality yet.
Great teacher! You must keep pace with the class, but keeping up with hw and notes in class pretty much guarantees success. He explains materials thouroughly, doesn't mind repeating himself, gives practice problems/tests for quizes AND exams and drops lowest scores.
a great teacher. really spent the time to hel students understand the material. im not a great math student but if you stay on top of the work load and are there for lectures, he will make it a point that you get the material. he is a younger teacher with a younger positive attitude that makes it easier to comprehend.
He was the best teacher i ever had. i recommend anyone that has to take math to take him as a teacher. he is very helpful. HE'S AWESOME
Hybrid course. Wouldn't do that again. It's extremely difficult to teach yourself Algebra and the Prof doesn't seem to consider that. He's very rigid. No extra credit, lots of rules and hoops you have to jump through. HW assigned doesn't prepare you for the test - although you do get a practice exam which is helpful. Overall - not a good experience
he was a good teacher, very helpful. just make sure you can keep up with is notes and do the homework and you should beable to get an A
Mr. Blumenfeld is a good teacher. He answers all questions and is very helpful during office hours and in Lab. His practice tests are similar to the real tests, so study those hard. I would recommend him.
He's very intelligent and he knows what he's teaching and tries to teach it well. His lecture is dry. If you need help, ask and he'll help you. Unfortunately, I didn't and did not succeed. It was a difficult class. Lots of online hw, and labs were similar to tests. But tests were extremely difficult. I am an A student in most classes and got a D.
explains things really well. he's clear and to the point. doesn't say more then whats needed for each subject, which helps me stay attentive.
i dont know why his ratings seem so good because hes a HORRIBLE teacher,my whole class was failing and majority dropped.the class is 85% 4 tests and u have a ridiculous amount of hw and labwork thats worth close to nothing and he grades strictly.ur so overwhelmed with work that u barely have time to study or understand everything. dont take him!
Blumenfeld means well. Honestly, i can't write and say he is terrible. BUT, He did expect the entire class to learn on their own. I think he was so oblivious that we were struggling, even though most of the class was failing. Constantly canceled classes, but still had exams even after several days of missed classes. DO NOT TAKE HIM.
Three weeks into class and he seems to teach at a very fast and confusing pace. Don't understand how homework is worth no points but yet the lab is worth 30% of your grade. You spend most of your time trying to graph the lab etc. making no time to study whats actually going to be on the test.
Take Bluemenfeld for all your math classes! He is very helpful and fun! He really teaching and it shows! This is great because it really helps the students stay motivated and engaged in his class! Excellent teacher and person! He really does care for his students and genuinely wishes well for them! Take him!
This guy is the most professional teacher in school. He talks fast in his lectures, however, he doesn't bring his problems to school like some teachers. Blumenfeld comes prepared all the time. Sometimes he can't make it to class because of illness, but that's understandable. I recommend this guy because he is great at what he does and that is MATH.
First of all, his lectures are super hard to follow. He goes way too fast and expects us to complete huge word problems. Assigns SO MUCH hw and labs. AND the most ANNOYING thing about him is he is VERY technology based. He expects us to download like 7 apps for lab. Dont take him. Whenever i mention "blumenfeld" to friends they fell bad for me.
This class is very heavily based in technology. KNOW THAT GOING IN. He makes you download a ton of software. There is way too much homework online and you stress out so badly doing it that you learn nothing. The workload is so ridiculous and MyMathLab is the worst thing to have ever happened to me. AVOID THIS CLASS.
Honestly avoid him for trig, this class is extremely reliant on technology. The amount of work required is ridiculous and is not worth it, all the time spent on it will make you stress so much you wont learn. Lecture goes fast and is not easy to learn from. In other words find a different professor for trig.
gives hw via mymathlab and labs which take time but they aren't terrible. He likes using technology for his class(like using tablets and smart phones and has you download some programs). As math teachers go, there are much worse teachers than him.
CONS - VERY technology based. absolutely brutal labs. class time is fast paced, noisy and distracting. he MAKES you join his Facebook group. HELLA hw PROS-fair tests with AWESOME study guides. hard work, but good prep for calc. if your moving on with math and want to learn rather than pass, take him. if you're looking for an easy pass, good luck
This a challenging class. MyMathLab homework is a bit much and hard Labs. Test are very reasonable. He is happy to help you on his off time and easy to get a hold of. If you dont like technology don't take his class. If you actually want to learn, the you'll be fine with his class. He picks problem used in actual job fields. A great guy too
Awesome teacher
He goes a little fast, but most teachers do because y are used to the material. Even though he is fast paced he will slow down and help anyone who asks. Don't be afraid to ask questions. He has a cool sense of humur also. The only thing I did not like is that 50% of the grade is the exams and 30% is the final. That is a lot of room for error.
He was really nice to everyone. He's probably the least scary math teacher I've ever had. I also enjoyed the much needed drills with the silly titles. ^_^
You can ask a question at any time and he'll do his best to explain it to you as well as help you without you having to ask. The grading scale is a bit strict, with 50% of your grade being based on tests, but he gives you a lab with very similar problems to the test. I did the lab at least 3 times before each exam, which helped greatly. Great guy!
The guy's amazing as a personality, I wouldn't say so much as a math teacher. His lectures are insanely hard to follow, he gives impossible equations to solve without prior knowledge and then runs through how they're solved as fast as he can speak. He's friggin hilarious and the class is built so you can succeed at any point. Final is 30% of grade.
This was a good class. MyMathLab is an excellent teaching tool. Professor is easy to get a hold of and is willing to help, you just need to show up and ask questions. Labs are a great prep for the tests.
He has a great personality and is very helpful. It is much more fun the other math classes. I suggest you overview the section he will cover before class, so you can follow easier with the in class problems with classmates. He dropped the lowest HW, test and lab which was great. :-)
prof B is awesome he takes time to explain everything you ask him and is always available to help his students. his lectures are clear offering different techniques to use on the material and his head is literally a jukebox of old school rap songs that people born in 1992 and before would know! take his class!
mr. Blumenfeld is a good teacher. he knows what he's talking about, and will answer the questions you pose in lectures. the one thing to watch out for: labs. they take a LOT of time and teach you nothing about calculus. they tach you how to use maxima. maxima does not work on macs. Also he allows notecards on tests which is pretty awesome.
Just do the homework and you'll be fine. Before exams he'll give a breakdown of each test. For example, he'll say there will be five problems from lecture, two from homework, and one new problem. The labs are a bit tedious but aren't too bad because they are only ten percent of your grade. Overall, he is an average math teacher.
Mr. B is nice. He seems to want his students to succeed and is pretty transparent about what is on his tests. Unfortunately our class was very limited on time so we couldn't ever go over homework problems in class, and he sometimes spent up to 20 minutes working on his laptop because he couldnt figure out how to make it do what he wanted.
calc 2 at las po with him-you gotta think about it again cuz he went real fast during his lectures. Although math is my strong subject, i had a hard time catching up with his lectures. Also, he is really into the technology stuff so he rarely writes on board. His tests were not hard but if you're prepared to pay extra attention in class, go for it!
I hated math when I was in highschool, daily assignments and stressful pop quizes, but Mr. B's class doesn't work like that. This was my first time taking math 7 years and math seemed to finally click. Mr. B often shows many different ways of solving problems and uses plenty of examples. If you're a prude take someone else.
If you ever struggled with a math concept in the past let Mr.B clear things up for you. I wish I had him for every math class I took from Middle School to now. He cleared things up for me that I had been guessing on tests for years. He is very understanding and goes thoroughly over a concept a student does not understand, until they understand.
Requires you buy 100$ textbook, then a 60$ online code to do your homework. Homework is about 200 questions for each assignment (there's 4) that take 5 minutes each. OUCH! Tests similar to the study guide, but account for about 50% of your grade. If you're not a good test taker, this teacher isn't for you! During lecture he sits and eats whole time
He's really into his technology.. which kind of sucks. He goes really fast in lecture and doesn't really like to stop and elaborate.. Tests are almost identical to his labs but HARD!! LOTS of online homework too like 200 problems per assignment. If you're going to fail the tests, you won't pass with a C.. i recommend someone else...
He's a great teacher for math 65. He's really fun and uses technology a lot. Homework is all online and is over 100 questions each but you have about a month to do it. For 55, I would say take someone else because his style of teaching is too rushed for how much content is in the course.
Mr. Blumenfeld is a really nice guy who is there for his students. He is into using technology, which helps the students keep in touch if we need any help. He likes to joke around, but takes his job seriously. He takes the time to get to know his students and wont ignore anyone. He gives a lot of homework though so you can't procrastinate.
I really enjoyed taking Mr.B's class. He's very funny and cares about his students and wants them to pass. Even though math 55 was tough, if you put in the effort, get extra help, and study from the day you learn the material to exam day, you will pass!
Mr. B gives you the tools and information you need to learn math. It's up to the student to learn it. Math is hard and you can't expect a teacher to make you legitimately pass. If you're light hearted and are serious about learning, take his class.
Class content is hard, but he drops a grade of your lowest testhwlab which helps a lot. If you do the hw and labs as class progresses, you'll be fine. He's a very funny teacher and uses a lot of technology to keep the class involved. He keeps all of his notes on OneNote cloud for access any time which is a huge help.
Howard is a good math teacher with a genuine interest in seeing you pass his class. All notes available online, makes a facebook group for the class (which was used by myself and many people to form study groups, it was a great idea on his part). He's funny and loves technology. Drops lowest test score, hw score, and lab score. Would take again.
I enjoyed taking Mr. Blumenfeld's class; he is funny, and knows the material. He also has a lot of online resources that a lot of teachers don't offer.
Howard is by far the best instructor I've ever had. Hes definitely a different kind of teacher, but it worked well for the class. Math has never come easy to me but I actually learned ALOT from him. I would definitely recommend his class & hope to have him again in the future. He's also super funny & makes class go by fast!
I'll give an honest review and will avoid being biased. The class is hard and moves at a fast pace which makes it hard to keep up sometimes. Lectures, Homework, and Labs are long and tedious, however, it is helpful. The downside is that some of the problems on practice exams are not on the actual exams. Overall, it was a pleasure taking his class .
If you have any Apple products there useless everything he uses requires a PC to do the work
He teaches all through his windows surface, skips small steps so I ended up so confused. Not the best teacher if your not already somewhat good at math. Makes it clear he hates apple products and loves windows and androids. He's not mean just not very nice either. You can eat food in class. Gives 200 math problems per chapters on Pearson.
I think he is a great professor. He is patient and knows how to clarify doubts and is always available to answer questions via fb. His answers are prompt, which is a plus. I am taking my next math class with him, and probably the ones after too.
i took the class mostly online the only thing was i had to go to class to take the chapter test.
By far the best math teacher I've had and that I can actually understand! He makes it easy for you to understand how to do specific problems. Having all of the notes online is very helpful if you are busy and can't make it to class. Tests are easy if you do the lab & homework.
Classroom is not maintained professional, Very friendly but likes to seem "cool,"the class is hard to concentrate in because everyone is always talking, he seems to pick up favorites as he will walk right over everytime and stay there. I felt as if he has laughed at me a few times for not understanding material, I learned on my own with this class.
It was very professional. He cares and respects students. His teaching strategies were the best I ever had in a Math class. Thank you, because I understood the concepts.
He is approachable, open, involves student participation and very understanding. Gives good amount of feedback and responds to students queries promptly.
Howard was by far my favorite teacher at Las Po yet. He is very generous you might say on his grading. By that I mean always gives you a chance to score some points on a test question by trying and showing you some what know what you're doing, rather than a flat out 0 when you got "artithmetricked" as he would say. Take him you won't regret it!
I took him for math 55 and math 65 and had a great experience in both classes. I really liked how you can do the homework at your own pace. I found both classes to be easy, just have a clear understanding of the material going into the exams and you should be fine. His teaching style made it really easy to learn and understand everything.
This Professor is great. He is tech savvy and implements technology to his teaching techniques. It is really nice to be able to access class notes while in the classroom, and even more useful that those are still available during all the semester. When you are confused, he will try to help you understand.
Blumenfeld is a great professor. A little heavy on homework, but since I took a condensed summer course I can't really blame him. Take advantage of the office hours!! The lab assignments cover all the materials on the exams, so study those and you will be fine. Overall a really straight forward class with a teacher who wants you to succeed.
This professor is available 24/7 and responds immediately. I have never had a professor like this before and it is so nice to know your professor wants to help at any time.
Had him for my hybrid math65 class. I hate math ,but he made it enjoyable and easier to do. Meet once a week. After the first month attendance isn't mandatory. 4 long homework and lab assignments, but he gives you a month to do them & he gives 4 exams and drops your lowest exam grade. AMAZING AND CARING GUY! Wants to help & is easily accessible!
DO NOT TAKE THIS INSTRUCTOR FOR MATH34! Not saying that I did well nor bad in the class. I rated his class below average from how he portrays his class. Lectures are written through a tablet with really bad handwriting, so it highly UNORGANIZED. skips ALOT of steps. Also talk about HW overload! Expects you to understand material right off the bat.
He's a great teacher. I took the online class and we only had to show up for the first month and then he didn't care if we showed up or not. If you need help he'll makes sure you leave understanding what you learned. He's super nice, funny, and sarcastic. I highly recommend taking his class.
Mr. Blumenfeld is a great professor. I asked him for help on a few problems in math lab and he basically did the whole thing for me. Super helpful!
Think twice and take this course with another instructor. You won't regret it. Mr.B needs to be eveluated by the school that is all I'm saying.
Very engaging, very open to questions. Lots of in class examples to do. Lectures are primarily about working through examples, not necessarily the best at teaching concepts. Cool guy, easy to get along with.
So you basically get assigned about 150 problems for homework but are not necessarily being helped with them. Class met once a week and when we would meet and "solve problems together", I would look down at my notes for 2.5 seconds and the answer would be written on the board followed by a quick "common sense, easy peasy", it seemed like.
Blumenfeld was a good teacher, his lectures are on Onenote, so you can always reference back to them. He uses mathlab, so all the homework is assigned and you can do it at your own pace in your own time. It wasn't an unreasonable amount of homework which amounts to so little of your grade. Tests account for most of your grade.
think before u take this class his class was only depended on 4 tests.. you get many options and is doable to pass although i took it during summer most class had to drop out because they were failing and rest that was left was batteling for their grade from D to C ... but he does drop of one test score no extra credit were given
He expects you to come with questions that he is happily ready to answer, if not he gives great lectures. He is pretty straightforward with what he expects from the students taking his class. He shows that he cares about his students succeeding in his class.
Great teacher, explains concepts well and goes them over again if you don't understand them. Made math very easy to learn and didn't go over the things that you didn't need to learn. Has a sense of humor, would definitely take again!
He was amazing to take and he genuinely helped, he made time for one on one help if needed
Hybrid: If you are unable to learn without someone there to show you step-by-step, I definitely recommend doing a full lecture course. This class is very easy to pass if you are diligent with the homework and ask questions during class. The majority of your grade is on tests, but he drops your lowest test score, which can def bump your grade.
He is a bit cringey and goes too much into something if you ask for advice. When it boils down to it, hes tough &ur grade is mostly tests but its mostly doable if you get good grades on quizzes and homework. Hes intimidating but really nice &gives good advice you should listen to. If his teaching doesnt work but you learn the material, ur good
Doesn't explain well and skips steps doing the equations. I usually get an A every math class I take, except this I had to drop it because he was so confusing and the labs and homework are more than 70 questions and more.
Overall it was not a bad class. My class only met once a week and the rest online. He knows what he ia talking about and explains things well. But there is a decent amount of self teaching. If math iwnt your string suit like myself, id recomment another class.
I took a hybrid class-- I do not recommend for first-timers w/ college or math! Since most of material was done online, was HW heavy and questions were discussed in-class. Studyguides provided bf exams. U must study to pass! Prof.B appears tough but is a good guy. Was VERY in-depth w/ concepts. He dissects algebra the ideal class for math people!
Rarely explain criteria,
I'm not great at math-I worked really hard. Started with aprox.40 people in class& people dropped with 'W'- there were 8 left in class; "A" in his class is rare; I went to office hrs A LOT; He wouldnt up my grade .5% I needed to pass b/c "unethical" DOESNT CURVE TESTS. Rigid;I wouldn't recommend
I honestly think that a class of this stature is much better done in person then online. Doing it online is ASKING for heartache and confusion, and is an incredibly difficult class to accomplish if you're not able to ask as many questions. Just take it in person. Good teacher for sure, just hard when you're basically teaching yourself.
Terrible professor, EXTREMELY difficult grader and has no leeway with anything. Four exams, four practice exams, a group project, and a LOT of homework. You can work as hard as you possibly can and show significant improvement and understanding and he will still fail you. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I though I would be able to pass, but I was wrong.
Hybrid turned online bc of COVID. Material is tough but not impossible. Video lectures really help if you actually watch them. 3 exams-lowest is dropped- + a final. 1 discussion post a week. Group project wasn't all that bad, but pray you get a good group. DO THE HOMEWORK. Doesn't look like much, but it was the difference of a letter grade for me.
LOTS AND LOTS OF HOMEWORK. IT ALSO SEEMS LIKE THE HOMEWORK IS 100X HARDER THAN ANY OF THE EXAMPLES HE GIVES OR THE BOOKS GIVE.
Took him last semester, by far one of the worst professors I have ever taken. Also to mention very unprofessional i'm glad I was able to go to the dean multiple times to sort the issues. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DON'T EVER TAKE HIM.
The subject is challenging and it's easy to get overwhelmed, so ask questions before falling behind! The prof wants students to succeed and is genuinely helpful in explaining difficult concepts. He provides students with clear expectations and is very fair. The class is time consuming so make sure you have enough study and homework time.
Took him for summer class and he was a very tough grader. He wants you to do all work in his format or else you receive a 0. The practice exams are long and graded on correctness. Some of the homework questions on my math lab dont have the help feature. A 400 word discussion post is due every Friday and a 100 word response to a classmate.
He makes you write a 400 word weekly discussion on 5 minute videos about calculus.. If you don't solve the problems like he does he will mark it wrong even if you have the right answer. Would not recommend. Too much homework and grades tough for no reason.
I took this class online. The lectures are very boring. Will mark you off on tests if you do problems the wrong way even if you get the right answer. This is one of those classes where the class average on every test is no more than 50% and there is no curve. Also, a weekly discussion thats a minimum of 500 words. I write less in my English class.
This online class was tough but I did well in the end despite being intimidated by the material in the beginning. You need to budget your time and set a regular schedule, and you should be ok. Don't procrastinate, whatever you do, and follow the professor's study guides.
I knew this is a tough class so I took just this for this semester. I have been an above average student when it comes to math but getting an A was impossible no mater how hard I worked. He thinks that the students in his class has no other life but his class, well we didn't take the class to master in calculus but to learn basic applications!
Blumenfeld is the worst prof I've ever had. I can't believe LPC continues to hire him. His grading is unbelievably harsh and he's not forgiving at all. I had no choice but to take him and I had the most difficult summer with him. HW is insane, lectures are boring, and getting a good grade is almost impossible. Class avg on exams is a 50%. BEWARE!
One of the toughest courses I've ever taken. 3 exams and one final exam. Weekly 300 word discussion and 100 word reply. Not even my English class required 300 word discussion. He is a tough grader and if you don't use his methods he will mark you wrong even if you have the right answer. Be sure to set a lot of time for this course.
Do you take this course with many other units especially if you have no experience in calculus. Homework took up so much time and can be intimidating to learn. More than 75% of the class failed the second midterm. Beware!
Professor Blumenfeld has been teaching for about 20 years. He is very straightforward and gives very clear expectations as to what he wants on tests. He also allows the use of notes during tests. I recommend either taking the concurrent support class or reviewing alg/trig before the class. He goes at a fast pace so review frequently.
I took Business Calc online with this professor, and while the work load is a little heavy, I found it to be manageable. The professor is nice, no zoom classes, always has office hours, tough grader but reasonable. Changed my perspective on math, and ended up being a good class. Challenging towards the end.
Took this course online! I was pregnant and gave birth before the end the school & was able to complete the course. Professor Blumenfield has fun engaging discussions weekly, homework, practice exams, and exams. Grading was very clear and straightforward. I recommend taking this course!
A tough course overall, make sure you use the professors notation or else you may run into a problem. Study groups are recommended. Overall, class was enjoyable. Grading is not a curve but lowest score is dropped. Good luck!
Nice and cool professor keep that in mind. Tests were the death of the class. Each exam had a below passing average. You could understand how to do the problems, but the questions on the test themselves were in a whole different ballpark. Exams were creatively constructed and really required the best understanding of the curriculum.
honestly such a sweetheart. he truly understands that each student has a different math background and will dumb down concepts as much as you need him to. he does make a lot of careless errors, which he admits, so js be careful of that. he literally tells you what exams will cover, so it really is ur responsibility to study the material well.
Nice professor, but tests are hard. Use pearson study plan to prepare for exams and use sample exams. KNOW TRIG WELL. no curve on exams nor final grade.
The professor is really nice and is very educated. The class is kind of lecture heavy but if you listen to them, you don't need to study at all. He also tells you exactly what's going to be on the tests so it's easy to come prepared even if you didn't attend a lecture. My advice would be to go to lectures and pay attention to his announcements.
Genuinely great guy. Pay attention to the sorts of problems he solves in lectures and in the videos, and do the weekly homework, and you'll be fine! He was really encouraging to students who didn't have strong math backgrounds. He does offer extra credit on exams, but don't rely on it unless you understand the actual content. (1/2)
(2/2) He does a lot of group work during lectures. Pay attention during lectures, because he does tend to make a lot of silly mistakes, though he usually catches himself. Super reasonable grading and will explain concepts as many times as you need him to. Make use of his office hours!
DONT TAKE HIM IF YOU DONT WANT TO CRY EVERY WEEK
This class is only good if you already know Math 1 inside out, or if you are interested in Engineering. For every other major, this was the absolute worst class: unclear theory heavy lectures, never to the point, and exams that didn't resemble homework at all. Exams were 3-4 questions and 100 points, and they were trickier than anything in class.
Nice teacher, but a lot to say about his class and how it's run. Makes students write discussion posts about learning math in new, exciting ways, but then doesn't adopt any of those in his lectures :/ Lectures, homework, and ESPECIALLY exams are unrelated and don't end up learning a whole lot because everything is so messy. Go with someone else pls
very hard class if you are already not a calculus whizz, not worth it if you're not already super interested in math or an engineering major. did not prepare for exams which were all open note and hardly 4 questions. terrible exams overall, no preparation, used lecture time to go in circles about calc. just take someone else
