His tests aren't too hard. There's multiple choice and then two essay questions. But his lectures are extremely boring. I would recommend taking another history teacher that would make history more interesting.
Bodner is a great history professor. If you can attend all of the lectures and prepare to write a lot, you will do good in his class. His tests are straight out of the study guides, so as long as you study, you will make an A.
Enjoyed this class very much. If you go, pay attention, do the readings with are good choices and interesting you'll do well.
This guy is a first rate professor. His lectures are informative and entertaining. Be prepared to read the material and take notes - if you want to learn the material, this is your guy. If you're looking for and easy A, look elsewhere. Bodner is a fantastic professor! Good luck!
A very good teacher, his lectures were very interesting and informative. Made History easy to learn.
What are you people smoking? This guy is as boring as they come. I will agree that he is very clear on what he wants, but he needs to add more personality and spunk to his lectures. I would not take his class again if you paid me money...BIG money! ZERO personality. Snooze fest!
Professor Bodner Is very picky about what he wants from his students, but over all he is a great teacher. Like everyone has said, do your reading and you will get an A.
Very Good Teacher, He does lecture for quite some time but if you find History interesting you won't get bored, its not an easy A, but he teaches well and he gives reviews for his tests, if you goto class and do the readings there is no reason to not get an A
nice dude, all u have to do is study his review he goives out early and you will pass
Very good in teaching...just study the study guide and you will do great...
He is very clear early on what is expected. If you study the study guides, you will get an A. It is all about memorization. However, if you are a republican or don't care to be beat over the head with teachers personal political opinions DO NOT take his class.
Very clear on what he tries to teach. Although sometimes he may go off topic too far and too long, but over all he's a great professor. I learned a lot from this guy. If you read and do the assignments, it shouldn't be difficult to get an A.
Bodner is a great teacher. As long as you're not a slacker you'll do great. His lectures aren't as boring as several of the people on here have made out, but he does have a calm, cool approach. He breaks everything down in the syllabus, and sticks to it th
really cool guy, patient with people asking questions because you dont ever really have to, makes history FUN and INTERESTING and i even look forward to studying...weird....
Super EZ class, memorization needed, you can slack off in the class and just study for the test from his study guide

Great instructor. Very clear on what he expected and very fair in grading. Very interesting lectures. Makes me want to take more history!
Great teacher!! And I hate history, Bodner is very fair and I reccommend him to anyone. he explains what is expected, you are given a clear study guide, and if he sees that you are trying he will give yoy a break.
don't take this lazyb***h's classes, last semmester was my first horible i've ever been in my life cause of his class. look at the test, 25 short essay questions, Plus 2 full essays in every test. Hell no dude! i showed the test to my friend and he said:"is this an honor class???" the class started with 25 students, at the end was only 11 left
Great Professor but the reading material was overwhelming. The quizzes are ok, but the exams were much harder. I took it online. You also have to write 2 essays for the semester. Good luck.
This professor was ok. I took him online, in the Summer and he literally crammed so much work in. We had 4 books to read each week, (The reader, the text book, and 2 long novels) The quizzes sometimes didn't match anything that we read. But he did let you take it twice and then he averaged out the 2 grades. The exams were 2 hours 100 multiple choice.
not an easy online course! his exam questions are more like, pick the "best" answer and there were several that were misleading. i'm taking ballard-smith now and her class is much clarified, fair, and down to earth. i got a "B" from bodner and that ruined my perfect 4.0 average. so take it from me, take your chances if you dare.
Prof Bodner's class strictly follows the syllabus and gives alot of time to complete assignments and read readings. I never read books but still made a high B in his class. Theres no homework besides occasional film summaries. There are only two tests, so it is important that you do well on them. There is a 5 page research paper due. Pretty easy.
he is overprepared for his class. He teaches very well. it seems he is telling you a story. It is easy to take notes. The essay question for the test is on the syllabus. He is extremely good. I recommend
VERY EASY TEACHER WATCH A FILM EVERY WEEK AND HAD TO WRITE SUMMARIES ABOUT IT. ONE CLASS WOULD BE ALL LECTURE AND THE NEXT CLASS WE WOULD WATCH A FILM. MIDTERN AND FINAL ARE ALL BASED ON NOTES ITS NOT HARD AS LONG AS YOU LISEN AND TAKE DOWN GOOD NOTES.(NOTES ARE IMPORTANT)MY GRADE WAS B EASIEST CLASS I HAVE EVER TAKEN I ENJOYED THE FILMS EASY CLASS
I'm not into history at all, but really loved his class. He makes the subject interesting, and he's funny as hell. Also very helpful - I highly recommend this guy!
Great professor...he gives study guides w/all of the test questions on them. It is not easy, but he makes it interesting.
I TOOK HIS CLASS WITH NO BOOK AND MADE a B THE TEST QUESTIONS ARE GIVEN TO U ITS NO REAL POINT IN STAYING IN CLASS IF U CAN FIND THE ANSWERS VIA INTERNET OR THE LIBRARY BUT HE DOES TELL HISTORY LIKE ITS A STORY DONT SIT TO CLOSE OR HE MAY SPIT ON YA LOL I WOULDVE MADE AN A BUT I DIDNT STUDY FOR THE FINAL THIS CLASS IS ALL ON YOU
I had him for HIST 1301 and scheduled my whole sext semester around getting into his HIST 1302 class, very well prepared for class ALWAYS & always avail. for mettings to help.He made it fun, lectures are like stories, easy to take notes. Tests are long & prefers complete sentence for answers but all quest. r on study guide! BEST EVER!!!!!!
I can't stand history, and this teacher made it interesting. If you are willing to work hard but learn and enjoy the class, Prof. Bodner is the right teacher for you!
pretty good
WORST online class that I've had! Gives U 120 minutes to complete 100 questions on his exams and they are extremely difficult and tricky. U barely have enough time to read the question, let alone answer! 4 Books to read and 2 essays to write along with several quizzes. No real review at all, only "terms" but U don't know what to focus on! AWFUL!!!
A hard class to pass. Tests are very hard. If you are looking an easy A, this class is NOT for you. He is a very good prof. He teaches and explains great, but as I told tests are pretty hard. But if you really wanna learn history, take this class.
I am only interested in world history and hate American History, Mr. Bodner made it interesting and bearable. There is A LOT of reading 2 novels and 2 textbooks. He does grade fairly and has a tutor that sits in class for those that need extra help. Tests are "Medium" in dificulty
This guy is up there with my favorite professors. He is extremely intelligent and passionate about the subject. He expects you to take everything he spits out and regurgitate it on the test, but a good student should have no issues with it. It was my hardest and most rewarding class.
He is a real good teacher and makes Asian History fun. Just make sure you take notes.
Omg i dunno if we are talkng about the same teacher, but i was bored out of my mind when i took this history class. it was long and boring, he speaks in one monotone. and hes test are easy if you study. and his papers are alright, ust grade quit hard.
I am taking his onlin class and it requires a whole lot of reading and his class consist of a midterm with 100 question and essay and a final. We have four books for his class and in order to pass you will have to read the novals and text books. I lot of reading!!!!
Took this class ONLINE -If you do not mind reading all day long - take this class. Read a lot, Quiz every week, mid-term essay with a 100 question and final the same way. Well organized but you will work hard and again read a lot!
Honestly i didn't feel like it was too much work, i would of made an A if i had the book the first couple of weeks. TOOK THIS CLASS SUMMER 09' MINI MESTER. As of now i really don't care for the professor due to my test shutting down on me in teh mid of taking it...and he gave me a 0 even thought it wasn't my fault, maybe it will change ><
OMG. If you take this class. Please study. He let's you use your notes but don't be fooled. You have to study. He quizzes and exam. With open books and notes. Don't be fooled. You have to study. He is by the book. If he says no extra credit or no lower grade dropped that's what he means. I did take the class on line this summer. Made a c
not good if your are a highschool student taking dual crdeit. i hated that!
wosrt professor ever
wosrt professor ever, he's sylabus not understood, never using the books stated on his syllabus. i hated this class so much. i dont recomend him to any one i love. after all my eforts and still could not make it. he's the worst history professor i've ever seen. he made me hate history. please be ware from him
wosrt class, worst professo, worst, dont recomend him to any one.
AMAZING PROFESSOR! YOU WILL LOVE HIM.
Professor Bodner is a good instructor. But you really need to study. He is so picky about how he grades many points will be deducted and possibly lowering your grade. My advice is to study and include specific details when answering the test questions.
WONDERFUL PROFESSOR!!! YOU WILL LOVE HIM! DO UR WORK, AND YOU WILL GET AN A
Took his 8 wk online RWUR course. Tons of reading from textbook, plus had to read out of a companion book and also read two other books and write reports on them. Tests are hard but he gives good notes. Read, read, read and you will do fine.
I took this course online. There is a LOT of reading but that's the nature of a history class. He is clear about what is expected and grades fairly. No big deal
OMG you need to think about taking his class! He has A LOT of readings(4 books¬es),weekly online discussions, two essays, midterm and final tests, and quiz for each chapter!!! You must study all of them,do all your assignmets on time, the tests have 100 questions but you just get very short time!!
Took this class online, 5 week summer session. Prof was quick to respond to emails, questions, etc. Grades posted almost immediately. 4 books plus his lecture notes (about 14 pages per unit, 8 units). 2 papers, 2 major exams, 8 quizzes. No late work, no dropped grade. You MUST be able to read well and quickly!
i have never found history interesting...prof bodners method of teaching is lecturing straight thru...thought it was goin to be real difficult but bodner makes the course really interesting...it was a lot easier than what i thougth...syllabus scared me at first but the 3 papers n 4 test r so much easier then you would think...highly recommend him
Well, the resources for the class were very cumbersome, besides the classnote, you have to deal with 4 texts.Taking the class is quite expensive. My bitter experience was taking the exam, and my computer had a glitch of which the professor was not ready to listen because? why would I want to answer 7 questions out of 100 for cry out loud!!.He awarded
You will need to read two books chapter 1-14, read lecture notes per chapter then take a quiz per chapter and read two more books one for a midterm exam essay and the other for a final exam essay and 2hrs for a 100 questions final and midterm exam so you must read read read read and study hard to get an "A"
U NEED TO READ ALOT!!!! IF YOU'RE TAKING OTHER CLASSES THAT REQUIRE MUCH WRITING DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!! U HAVE TO REALLY READ AND HIS ATTENDENCE IS MANDATORY!!!! I TOOK THIS CLASS ONLINE!! TOO MUCH AND TOO LITTLE TIME. BUT IF YOU DO ALL THE WORK YOU PASS!! JUST DO NOT THINK UR GONNA GET AN A! UNLESS U LOVE HISTORY!
He is soo easy. On line he lets you gives you all half of semester to take your quiz's and they are so simple. You will have to read two books but they are interesting just write two papers. The mid exam and final are not to easy but if you do good in the essays and quiz's you will get a good grade.
lots and lots of reading . midterm and final are hard. not an easy class if u dont have much time to read
This is all he has!! So you better beware!!!!!!! Read, read, and, read some more!!! Midterm and final exams were difficult because of the way the questions were worded. I use to love hist! Thanks HOWARD BODNER!!!!
DO NOT TAKE HIM! HE REQUIRES A LOT OF READINGS. IF U ARE WORKING FULL-TIME AND TAKING OTHER CLASSES THIS IS TOO MUCH! THE WORK IS FAIRLY EASY BUT OVER EXHAUSTING FOR OLDER STUDENTS GOING BACK TO SCHOOL AND HAVE OTHER PRIORITIES TOO!
The easiest and least stressful class ever!Class fills fast.I had him DE for spring '12 and wish all professors were like him.Class is everything I hoped for.He gives half a semester to do half of the 14-10qs. quizzes.Midterm and Final are 1 short essay response + multiple choice all from quizzes.Had only 1 easy 3pg essay.Clear directions.Take him!
Professor Bodner is an excellent lecturer. His lectures are so engaging and he always ends them his lectures with a hook "to be continued." He makes history exciting, and he makes it come to life. It is a lot of reading but so worth taking his class. It will only help you improve as a student and an individual. I took him for honors 1301 and 1302.
Read and understand what is all required and you will be fine. A great course in history if you engage yourself.
The quizzes in this class are very easy, right from the online lecture materials. I recommend keeping a copy of your quiz question and answers because many questions repeat on the midterm and final. Bodner is okay. He is an annoying grader of discussions and written assignments because he takes off points without an explanation.
OMG! Do not take this man! I am almost done with an 8 week online course from this professor and the work is OVERLOADING! The quizzes are from the text but there is too much reading! TOO MUCH READING! Mid-Term and Finals consists of ESSAYS and the questions are hard if you haven't read EVERYTHING! I repeat, there is a lot of READING!
I really enjoyed this class. Took it online & we had 16 quizzes the entire semester, one midterm, one 3 page essay, and then a final exam. Everything was online, & you NEED the book to do good on the quizzes. Midterm & final both just consisted of short essays. I highly recommend taking Mr. Bodner, easy A if you just do all the work!!!
His assignments consisted of reading a chapter of the textbook and taking a quiz each week, a midterm, a final, and a semester report. The textbook used was one of the most interesting I've had (I actually used to despise the subject), and his instructions are very clear. Midterm and final are essay questions. Will be taking HIST 1302 as well.
He teaches well.review with 12 questions study all!! but you get to answer 3. take advantage of his online quizzes no extra credit. I got a C in hist 1301 that was very sad & I got a B on 1302 I wanted an A. well I noticed that having a study group really helped me. study with the group immediately after class and answer the questions on the review
Very knowledgeable teacher, reading the book is a must in order to pass. Worth the effort though
I thought Iwould hate this class, but Ioved it because of professor Bodner. Knowledgeable, respetcful of the diversity of opinions and cultures of people who attend his class, he is a very good teacher. If you want to really learnhistory, take his class, but be prepared to study hard and read and write A LOT.
He took off some point wit no reason e and he never answer his email .
The midterm and final are crazy, writing two 500 word papers on unclear questions. Its alot of unnecessary work. Made me hate history. Don't take.
16 online quizzes, easy! Hegives 8 essay questions before 2 exams, on exams, 2 questions show up and you just need to copy&paste your work(cons: you have to read the book by yourself, no lecture notes avail., have to figure out few crazy tough questions). 1500 words paper assignment, have to read the whole book of Benjamin Franklin to do that essay
This professor is pretty horrible! The 14-16 quiz he give are somewhat easy but he's very hard when grading your papers. I only took this history class because it was a required course for my major and he basically failed me on both my mid term paper and final. Would be nice if he would give points for at least putting forth a effort.
First day of class I felt good about it, he seemed like he was very knowledgeable. But he has to be the toughest grader on earth. The criteria for the book essay is very unclear. He takes off points for every little thing. He wrote notes on my paper saying I was supposed to write a summary for each chapter, but the syllabus DID NOT say that!
You have to actually read the book since all the answers for the quizzes are pulled directly from each chapter. The semester writing assignment is cake; read the assigned text and write a three page essay. The only thing that I didn't understand was his grading criteria for the two exams; received low grades despite following directions.
Do not take this professor, very unclear on what he wants. Even if you do all the work if something is a little wrong he will give you a really low grade. After writing a 5 page essay with enough information to answer all the questions he gave me 18100 points, no partial credit whatsoever
STAY AWAY! Your grammar will be graded as if you were taking English Literature! He gives NO feedback at all on why you failed the essays. For the midterm and final you will have two essays each time and ONLY 2 hours to write 500 words each.
I took Bodner for Summer HIST 1302 five week. His expectations are clear in the syllabus. You know exactly what you have to do to pass. There is ALOT of reading but I found it to be interesting and doable even working a full time job. This was because the material is very interesting. You will learn in this class, there is no way to avoid it.
Bodner is a knowledgable and enthusiastic teacher. Yet he oftens goes off topic in class. He expects students to work for their grade.
Dont listen to these lazy folks. Sir Bodner is the best. He is a very knowledgeable and passionate professor. Hes not tough on grammar at all. No textbook required. Just take notes in class, and most importantly, come to his office before finals. Hell tell you everything you need. Studying history is about understanding, not just memorizing.
Good lectures and personality. You have to do the work, of course. He is always available to help you.
Take him in 2 semesters. Never regret. I would take him the third time if my degree plan requires so haha.
Professor Bodner is very knowledgeable and he's really nice to his students. Make History easy to "absorb". Would take him again.
You will definitely pass the class, but its difficult to get above a 70 for any student. His exams are essay form but he requires you to basically write the whole passage of the book verbatim in order to get a good grade
His lectures are long but very informational he will grade you literally with only three great. There will be a midterm that consists of two random subjects throughout the class and you have to write essays on them worth 50 points each and it's the same thing for the final so get a bluebook . Huge load of work but only 3 grades.
The key to doing well in this class is to know exactly how he wants the assignments. This can be tricky to figure out, but he wants you to basically copy the textbook word for word (in your own words of course). Each test is composed of 2 500 word essays. I didn't thouroughly read the whole book, but just read the parts on that we're on the test. A
I took him online and missed some classes, because everyday you going to have to take a quiz, if you missed he will not work with you... He is very strict
He grade very tough. The midterm and final is two questions from which he choose that is in essay form and he requires a lot for the answers.
Tests are timed but not bad, I couldn't figure out what he wanted. One essay answer was too short then I asked for feedback and got nothing. Did the next one and he said it was too long. I was so confused but passed. Wouldn't take again
Worst professor ever! Tough grader.
Lectures are long and tailored to his personal experiences which makes it a bit interesting. Chapter assignments and quizzes are easy if you thoroughly read the chapter. The midterm and final is essay only. Writing an essay is harder than memorizing material and then answering multiple choice questions. If you hate history find another professor.
Took an 8-week segment online with this teacher. His homework was not too bad if you read for the required 10 hours per week he issues. His Midterm and Final were short essay questions that really don't seem to be solvable. This class should count as a dual Composition credit with the amount of papers you have to write.
I am currently taking the online fast track 8 week course. It just started but so far I can tell its easy. I work full time and go to school full time, I was stressing about this course and professor because of all the reviews but he gives you enough time to complete 8 chapters ( 2 and a half weeks). Read the book and you'll do just fine.
I didnt like him. He's nice and funny sometimes but if you're looking for someone who will teach you, dont go to him. Lectures are boring and will not help. mid and final is not fair. he gives you 10 topics and wont tell you what topic to write about until the day OF the mid/final. i dont recommend.
Overall really good teacher took his Honors class. He gives a total of 5 assignments 3 papers on books he selects and the midterm and final. He is hilarious in his own way. Take the class seriously and you will pass.
Took this course online during the Summer. It was a lot of work for five weeks. You have to really be on top of things in order to succeed. The key is to just read the sections that contain the potential essay questions on the exam. I did this and it worked out really well. Also, there is a paper, two exams, quizzes, and two primary source documents
Great teacher overall. He will ask you to put as much info as possible in essay questions so be ready for that. Easy A if you are paying attention to classes and studying a few hours a week.
I took this class for HIST 1302 online. VERY EASY!! 10 quizzes that are NOT timed and open from day 1 of the class, 1 paper, midterm, and final. I never opened the book... Thank me later.
