Prof Gensler is well informed on today's issues, his class is very interesting, you can't help but learn in class, very clear syllabus, mega extra credit opportunities, very intelligent guy, lazy people will not like this class.

Prof Gensler, cares, is knowledgeable, has WORKED in the real world, not your avg. Professor, he's articulate, intelligent & to the point. You will learn and get a good grade if you just do what he says. I wish there were more professors like him.

A little wierd at first, but the class itself ir really easy. He gives study guides will all the questions and then usually an open book test.The paper is hard but there are a lot of extra credit oppertunities.

Intelligent, knowlegeable, very fair grader, I learned a lot, lots of reading, 14 page paper, but the tour of the maximum security OCJ, now that was an eye opener. Tests were tough IF you don't do the reading. Lazy? don't take him.

I liked him, thought he was intelligent, funny. To the weak or ignorant he intimidates, to them, he is an egotist. Easy grader and you will earn a lot. He's good with guys too, yah he likes women, but is just as fair to men, I got an A.

I really enjoyed this course! Class is very intense, and stimulating, however you will be graded on particapation, hard work, and effort. If you want an easy class avoid Gensler, he will challenge you. Extra credit is available if you put forth the effort

Last time I heard, a handful of students went complaining to the dean about him making discriminating remarks. I thought he was okay. DO HIS STUDY GUIDES, they're identical to his test. Lots of extra credit on the exams. Easy class, cram for test, easy A.

Great class, good professor, I never saw him do anthing inappropriate. I learned a on of stuff I didn't know, enjoyed his lectures. He has lots of knowledge and experience to share w/the class. Very helpful. Loved the OC Jail tour.

He is extremely helpful, I took both econ corses 2 and 4 with him. He gives lots of examples, and rewards students with extra credit opportunities. I would highly recommend taking him!

i agree with the person below me except for the smart part. Gensler works his ass off to make his students think that he's some kind of big shot but he's entirely a moron- why else would he be teaching at Saddleback? He really has insecurity issues

bottom line is he's entertaining so yer time in class goes by fast whether he's offending people or being whatever u think he is being. You can retake tests too and there's a bunch of small tests instead of 2 or 3 major ones so you can relax.

The OC jail tour was cool, but he is a sarcastic and aggressive man.

He IS crazy. I took him twice for an easy A. Says things he shouldn't. For the paper, go to his office hours before it's due (like a week before) and have him look over it. He'll correct the cosmetic errors for you. Don't argue with him, I tried - he'll make you look like an idiot.

He's hilarious! He knows what he's talking about and he throws in some of his crazy stories to make the class more intersting and more personable. Make sure that you go into him during office hours for help on his papers! He'll totoally help you.

For econ u get 4 take home tests worth 40% of ur grade, a 2 page paper(20%)a mid term(20%)and a final(20%)+ if you dont miss a class he adds 2 1/2 % to ur final grade.PS1 is just a joke its so easy..i got 3A's from him

Love it! He may make you look like a dumbass, but usually you deserve it. Easy, fun, love when he takes roll (time it, sometimes 40 mins) and he's VERY intelligent.

his class was very entertaining...he teaches well. he knows his stuff. he makes some people feel uncomfortable but he seems to thrive on a openly talkative class (not before raising their hands of course)...haha

he's funny and makes fun of everyone in the class, but can be helpful if you need it. he tries to not leave anyone behind.

I think this guy is a very excellent teacher. He is beyond smart and knows what he is talking about. He tells you how things really are. He will open your mind up to the world. His classes are pretty easy as well. Just go to class and pay attention. I took PS1,Micro and Macro with him and got A’s in all of them. For all of you who say he’s a bad teacher I don’t know what the hell you are talking about.

Don't take his class if you haven't got a sense of humor. He'll make fun of students, but it's never malicious (and in my class at least you could make fun of him back). The actual class content was interesting and not too difficult to understand. He also threw a random doughnut party for my class, which was nice.

Either you love him or you hate him--I hated him! The class is very chill and laid back, and the quizzes are all open book and can be done with other people, the tests are pretty straightforward...BUT he is the rudest person I have ever known. His comments are offensive to about half the class, most people just laugh or shrug it off...but I think that he is very inconsiderate towards others, their backgrounds, race, and ideas.

This guy tells you the way it is with kayaks full of humor. Bush supporters think he's wet, but I agree with him. I'm not a Bush supporter. Econ II is the first Econ class I've taken and I find it interesting and difficult in some ways, but I love adding the Economic Perspective to my thought process. He keeps the class alive.

He is different than other teachers at Saddleback. It is not hard to gen an A in his class if you follow his instructions. Students either love him or hate him and there isn't anybody in the middle.

He was one of the best teachers I have ever had! He has a lot to say and is not afraid to say it (very important in the classes he teaches). If you are easily offended don't take his class because he does excercise his ability to speak freely, but this is what makes him an amazing teacher!

Prof. Gensler is original! You can either love him, or hate him - there is no middle. I loved him! He is very very humorous, cool and smart. Explains stuff very clearly. Had plenty of easy take-home tests from the book and harder ones based on lectures. Midterm and final are about 25-30 questions, easy, if you do learn. He is amazing!

His class is super easy, if you do the work. If you don't have a sense of humor - you will hate him. He's very smart if you engage him in a real conversation, rather than try to insult him in class. He will spend 3 hours on a topic if you don't get it so make sure you ask questions. He doesn't flirt and doesn't give away grades.

He is a good teacher who makes you feel a little uneasy at first. Will help you with anything you don't understand. Tests not too bad 2 take home 2 inclass are based on the take home. NO use of textbook he lectures on his own. Just come to class everyday so you are not left behind. Can be abrassive, BRING CALCULATOR NO PHONES.

I took this guys for both Econ 4 and 2. Don't take this guy if you get offended by things that don't even matter. there take home tests, one midterm, final and 400 point paper. It's an easy class but make sure you spend some time on the final paper. He'll also ask stupid questions when he takes role. I do recommend him...

Plain and simple. Follow directions, come to class, do the paper (FOLLOW HIS FORMAT), and take the midterm/final, and you're set. Micro is much harder than Macro. If you are easily offended, this class is not for you, otherwise don't take it personally and laugh at his comments. He uses profanity, but its not personal.

Very entertaining professor. There is a lot of politics talk in his class. He's pretty much a liberal/democrat on most issues and I'm a conervative republican. Although he said some far-fetched stuff I thought it was entertaining and it's pointless to argue. Everybody laughs anyways haha. Be good at math/geometry. The graphs are gravy

If you don't have tough skin or are a sensitive person dont take him. He is pretty funny and has some interesting theories on what might happen to the U.S. A lot of equations to memorize, and the paper is a pain but the take home tests are easy if you came to class and learned the equations. Just put some effort in and it will be an easy A.

very smart, knows his stuff. he is the closest a community college professor can be to a university professor. very willing to help you but doesnt care about personal crap. he is a true professor for ADULTS. i encourage all who are seeking to transfer to a UC or State college to take him first.

gensler is a lively instructor who obviously enjoys his job. you'll need a tough skin: his class is not for the easily offended. work load is reasonable, quality of instruction is good, instructor is helpful if you communicate with him. if you're going to take him, have a plan in place in case you drop, as he's not for everybody.

A teacher who clearly loves what he is teaching, I looked forward to every class because you never know what you'll get. Great sense of humor that makes the subject much more fun to learn about. Easy class if you follow directions. He gets to know everyone personally, even when it doesn't seem like it. I highly recommend this class!

His class is good for people like me who can care less about econ. He likes to talk a lot about himself and bash everything he doesn't care for. It's entertaining but he'll tell you to shut up if you try to have an opinion. His tests are 30 q's and worth 300 points. So if you miss 3 out of 30 there goes your A.

Very interesting class lectures. Doesn't rely on the text book much but you are required to know the material. If you do your work you will get an A or B if you miss one of the BIG Test (midterm or Final) or you miss your term paper you will get a D or F almost for sure, they are worth like 70% of the total grade.

This class is never boring. He doesnt actually teach much,, but the class itself is very easy, take home tests and 1 paper are only HW. Most of grade is Paper, midterm and Final. Makes a 3hr class worth taking, you have to be willing to endure violence-as this is government in the unspoken forms. VERY funny and should have his own show. Seems like it would be hard the 1st day-but is actually fairly easy.

dont be fooled by the first class day --introductory. he makes it seem impossible to pass; however, i got an A without even trying too hard. there is a minumum 6 page research paper, 1 five minute speech, and 12 take home tests. the material seems much but its doable with the amount of time given. this class will definitely open you up to politics.

Took online class...Have a midterm, a paper, and a Final...Just do the homework and the midterm and final are exactly the same! Follow the guidelines to the paper exactly how he wants it and you will get a 100%!! Take Class ONLINE super easy!

Funny guy, fun class; although, I expected to learn more about politics. If you are taking this class just for credit & you enjoy raw humor, you will like Gensler. Take his paper and speech seriously, prepare for it in advance and you will do well. If you know from day one, you can't stand his jokes, either drop the class or lay low in the back.

Take the online class - it's super easy. His powerpoint leactures are really straightforward - go over them briefly and you'll do perfect on the midterm and final. The paper seems daunting, but just follow his instructions and it'll be fine. From reading all the previous comments, it's a safe bet to take the online class because it's really easy!!!

I took his class online. You will NOT use the book (except maybe as a source for your paper). No homework/quizzes, just a midterm & final. I didn't study ONCE for the midterm or final and I got an A and B on them just by taking them with the power points in front of me. The paper is time consuming but simple.

Professor Gensler is one of the funniest teachers at Saddleback. He harasses his students constantly which makes the class wildly entertaining. He expects you to follow directions ie read the syllabus, take notes, and show up for class. He loves a student who can hold his or her own so don't be afraid to harass him right back.

Gensler is the bomb. I had his 4 hour summer class and even though it was long, he kept it entertaining with the messing around with students and having fun. Honestly if you can't get at least a B then you did not try what so ever. All these other people are giving him a bad rap because they took his online class and were lazy. Not a lot of work!

Prof Gensler is My opposite in every way, but after you get to know him, you will understand that he is such a good teacher. He does care about the students and will help you in every way to make sure you get an A. I will miss having him as a professor.

I get it why people don't like him, I didn't at first either, but he is my all time favorite Professor. I had Gensler for both ECON 4 and PS1. Gensler is one of the most qualified, if not over-quailifed, teachers at Saddleback. As long as you follow the syllabus, attend class regularly (you can get 50 points of extra credit for perfect attendance, do the homework (for his PS1 class), there's no way that you WOULDN'T get an A.

Show up for class, ten 1 page essay on chapter of your choice from the book, one 5 page essay, one 5 minutes speech, share your toughts on 5 online videos. You will get an A and don't even have to take the final. Put some efford into it and it is an easy A.

It is fun to be in his class, because he is funny and you never know what he is going to do next. I was always looking forward to his 3 hour class, it went by so quick. He will make sound impossible to pass his class but it was an easy A, because he will help you anyway he can, just ask questions, he doesn't bite, but he wants you to think he does.

This online class was relatively easy. One paper was assigned, and the instructions were very specific and clear. The highest grade for either the midterms or the final is taken, and the lower grade is dropped. The exams are made up primarily of the equations found in the textbook. Practice the equations, and the open-book exams will be simple.

Currently enrolled in the online class and have mixed feelings about him. The text is required and was written by him, and guess what, you can't buy it use! It's a flimsy paperback riddled with errors and cost me $60! He's a straightforward prof, but online classes require more than just a syllabus. psych 5 and econ 1 were supplemented much better

He is very knowledgeable. He opens your eyes and gives you perspective. You need to work hard. Start your paper EARLY but if he sees that you are really trying, you will get your [[ A ]]. Mr. Gensler is a great professor! I took his 8 week class online and I was hesitant at first because I didn't do well with online classes but I ended up with an A in his class! The 8-week session goes by super quickly so if you're a hardcore procrastinator, I would reconsider. However, I learned a lot and he's always there when you need help!

took his 8 week online class and got an A with no problems. make sure you follow the rules on the paper to the T or else youll get a bad grade. print out ALL of the lecture notes to use for the tests it may seem like alot to print but totally worth it. he takes the bulk of the 2 midterms or the final as 80% of your grade so do well on them.

ough professor but definitely prepares you for an upper level university course. He's not going to babysit you so you have to be 100% on top of course work. I dropped because I didn't have the time to put in the work/effort needed for the class along with my other 12 credits. Quizzes are easy. I did learn a lot in this class.

He is amazing and take his class. I've already transferred out of Saddleback and am finishing my B.A. at UCSC. I still think about how much fun I had in his class. He's a G. I miss him and would take another class from him just for fun!!! It was the good. Do it!

Gensler is a good teacher, I learned a lot about economics from him. No point in buying the book though, everything was based on lectures. The tests weren't too difficult but the paper took a lot of time - follow guideline (it's all fine detail). Expect some challenging aspects, this is a college course after all. It wasn't meant to be effortless.

Gensler is an amazing teacher! He kept class interesting and fun at all times. His lectures can be difficult to follow along with at times, but his use of humor and sarcasm keep you interested. Not recommended for anyone who is a hardcore procrastinator!

Such a great Professor. I seriously think he is a genius and think he should run for President. Makes learning easy and the best sense of humor. Political Science is a hard subject but taking it with him makes it all crystal clear. He gives the answers to the final on blackboard the first day and a bunch of extra credit. Highly recommend Gensler.

The class was cool, he made American Government interesting and his lectures were more like stories; making it way easier to understand the material. He is super educated and has a good sense of humor. Don't take the class if you can't take a joke.

He's mean sometimes, but he is very clear when in his lectures. A lot of extra credits opportunities too. Perfect attendance 40 extra points. The online midterms were very easy, and the finals were super easy! just pay attention in class and do your notes, very helpful for your finals! and make sure to follow all the stuffs for the paper.

Gensler is fun and his lectures are educational. His playful language is surprising at first, but if you are not oversensitive, then the class is great. Get the books and do the homework. Take lots of lecture notes, draw the diagrams. You can learn how to write a great paper. Connect with classmates. Participate and it will be fun. Great professor.

Super cool teacher. Get ready for a reality check if you don't know much about government going in. Extremely helpful and funny. He gives you everything you will need to know about the entire class in the syllabus. Take notes during the lecture, do the homework in his format, and follow the paper rubric exactly and you will get a for sure A.

I took his 6 week summer class, hardest thing, but I LOVED it! He comes off rough but if you learn to take a joke hes super funny. Me and those who survived bonded. 2 midterm (100pts each), 1 final (600pts) and 1 paper (200pts). The paper is the hardest thing for me, but i did the format well and got perfect score. If u are good at math, this class will be super easy for u. He is funny and maybe mean sometimes, but it's just fine. Just stick to all of the math problems in the book and u will get an A.

Gensler is absolutely brilliant. His instructions could not be more blunt, if you go on blackboard you will find EVERYTHING you need. some of his homework assignments are just copy onto paper ( it takes awhile but hey, hes giving you the answer.) He makes the class fun with his insanity. If you are weak of mind or cannot take a joke hes not for you

This guy scared the crap out of me on the first day with his personality... But man, he grew on me SUPER fast. He's freaking hilarious, is an absolute genius, and sincerely wants all of his students to do well and gain a legitimate college education. I was intimidated at first by the paper, but start early and format it correctly and you'll ace it.

This guy was the toughest professor I've encountered in my 5 years of college education. He kicked my butt around every corner, showed no mercy, and stayed firm to everything he said from the beginning. And yet, he was the BEST professor I've ever had. He forces you to follow his directions EXACTLY. Follow the syllabus verbatim and you'll succeed.

Gensler is a real gem in the academic world as an educator as well as a human being. However, he is serious when it is time to work. Start the paper early. Study for each exam. Review. I hated the man at first. Then I learned to love him. Theres NO HOMEWORK at all. All you do is show up to class and get extra credit for attending every class, take 2 online midterms that aren't difficult, and write the paper at the end. He's kind of rude to students but he's hilarious and is a GENIUS. Listen to his lectures they're funny.

Took him for Micro before and now take him again for Macro. Great prof overall. Only one in-class exam (60% of overall grade), which is easy because it's open book. If you are doing well with math and have good notes, this class is an easy A. He can be sarcastic sometimes but hilarious after all. Will take him again for Pol Sci. Take him for easy A

He's a very sarcastic individual and picks on students a lot, only playfully. If you have a question he will answer it and makes sure you have learned it. Won't move on until everyone is confident with material. Very smart individual and a great professor. The paper he is the most strict on, format is key, quality of writing not so much.

Follow the syllabus verbatim or be dropped / prepared to flunk. 5 online tests, 2 online midterms, a paper, and an in-class final comprise your grade. Very easy if you read the chapters and do the homework problems. Put forth the effort and you will be rewarded.

Gensler was a great online american government teacher. He is very clear about what he is looking for and if you follow his directions then you will receive an A in the course. He is incredibly liberal, but (at least online) only expresses his views in the syllabus which I just overlooked. I highly recommend him as a teacher if you like structure.

Honestly he probably gets a bad rep because he's a pretty intense person. Right off the bat he seems like a non lenient kind of person and doesn't care. But he was super helpful and knows what he's talking about. He reopened tests a few times and told you what you'd get on the paper and let you change it. No homework and only one research paper.

Amazing professor, he is definitely very bold and has very interesting ideas about the economics of our country. This might turn a few people off, but to me this made the class very interesting. He cares about he students and is very knowledgeable. I highly recommend taking one of his classes.

Professor Gensler is unique compared to what most entitled kids are used to when first entering college. He doesn't supply a silver spoon or nipple for each student, rather he treats everyone like an adult. And from reading the reviews you can easily tell some don't want to grow up. They want to be nurtured until they are 50. Class is awesome.

Have taken all of his classes and they were all a blast. Would 10/10 would just take these classes for fun if I could.

This professor is not for the faint of heart; He won't provide you a golden ticket to do nothing and earn an "A". You are expected to conduct yourself like an actual college student, and you will learn much if you actually try. By far one of the best professors in the business, as he won't put up with any ridiculousness. Hilarious and entertaining!

This professor expects you to put in the time and effort you would into an in-class setting. You will honestly take a lot from this course if you choose to, and your grade will reflect it. Follow the syllabus VERBATIM and you will be successful; if not, you won't. Honestly, not too bad if you are competent enough to follow simple directions.

Prof. Gensler is one of the best professors I've ever taken. His grading is clear and he wants you to get an A. All you need to do is follow the rules. Go regularly. He wants his students to pay attention in his class and wants his students to be regular. He has a lot of extra credit. If you can be regular and take good notes you can get an easy A.

Every class was a fun surprise because he's very entertaining. He knows how to hold your attention during lectures by mixing in fun stories, but he is also very clear with the material. All of the exams are done online except for the final! Ask him about his youtube channel, trust me.

If you can't handle being the butt of the joke -- choose someone else. If you can, you'll laugh constantly without realizing you're learning at the same time.

Sometimes you just don't know how excellent a professor is until the end of the semester. Professor Gensler is tough, but he is FAIR beyond belief. It took a while to realize that but what I know is Professor Gensler grades you on your knowledge and that is revolutionary in education. Sent him many emails, always responded. Great Professor.

My man Howard Gensler was amazing. show up and joke around with him while learning the material. He is very understanding with things and is an easy grader as long as you follow the directions. Would take class again anytime.

Instead of midterms, there is a quiz at the beginning of every class. The quizzes are just easy memorization. There are also weekly online multiple choice tests about the textbook. The majority of the work in the this class is done on the research paper. His grading standards are low. Extra credit is given liberally. He is the Don Rickles of AMGOV

Hilarious teacher, jokes around with/about students and puts you in your place; don't take anything personal. He's super funny if you can realize he's always joking. Gave us a pop quiz every day but very basic algebra/economics. One paper, he wants EVERY sentence cited. Tests(online) and Final(class) is open-book. Do that, show up to class; easy A.

Pr Gensler is the type of person that you can't take too serious, although he knows what he is talking about. His lectures are around jokes, and if you don't take them personally, you will be fine. His paper is the most important thing, so take a few days to work on it. Go to this office hours, ask about the paper and you will be fine!

Mr Gensler is a gem amongst a countless of professors I have had during my educational career. The man truly is passionate about what he teaches and is knowledgeable beyond belief. He has helped me tremendously with not only class work but with life issues outside of class. Amazing prof, dont take for granted even one second of his lectures!
