Hard, but he is helpful.
Hard grader, hard quizzes, no makeups, nice but hard.
Very knowledgeable in many fields. The guy has held many jobs, therefore has extensive real world examples that apply to the class. Tells you exactly what he wants. Took his class at 7 am and somehow always stayed awake. You practice writing business memos, e-mails, letters etc. Fun class. Definitly going to take him for 301. Learned alot.Good Guy
Hard but nice and very helpful. Very professional in business writing. You can learn a lot in his class.
the best buad.301 professor at CSUF....he is always there to help you when you need it..i recommend you take him...the best of the best
Great professor, very helpful. You will enjoy the class and you will learn a lot
Mr. Gordon presented the class material in an interesting and relevant way. He incorporated many real world examples and situations that helped illustrate the concepts that were discussed. He values attendance and is not an easy grader, but he is always available to help and if you make an effort in the class you will get a ton out of it.
STAY AWAY from this guy at all cost!!! This instructor tricks you with his exams. He tells you to study a certain way BUT on test day *Whoa* SURPRISE!!! Mark my words, this is true. His exams make you leave saying "My 6 hrs. of quality studying went to waste."
Had Mr. Gordon for spring 09. Lectures are cool, but exams are bombshells. He told class to expect multiple choice, T/F, fill-in quest. but exam was all essays!! Another time he told us there would be no essay, well, on exam day we wrote essays! I'm an honor student who loves to study, but he'll make you study the wrong thing so you can fail.
His lectures are BORING. He is not a good speaker, organized, and I am so sick of him taking attendance like high school. Avoid this jerk, he is the hardest grader and never gives EC or lets you slide. If you like the military, you'll like him.
I currently have Mr. Gordon. Instructor "seems" cool in begining 2 weeks, however real side kicks in rite after. Tuff tuff grader & tests are insane & all short essays - 100% misleads class in what to study:( Final group project is ridiculous & worth 30%! I made a mistake by not dropping Mr. Gordon...so I don't want you to make same mistake.
DID NOT LEARN anything useful in this class. lecture can be interesting but gordon's tests are TRICKY and BRUTAL. he will either steer ur study in wrong direction, or WILL NOT discuss the tests!...What's there to hide, dude??!! test questions are damn PICKY that it's USELESS info.
he's an ex-cop and ex-car salesman and it definitely shows. rushes class during exams so he can leave early. exams are scandalous. no extra credit, no curve, no love.
I took Professor Gordon last year and found him to be just as hard as all the professors in the Business dept. I hated they way he picked on every single word and made a big deal about a couple typos. He needs to get a life. If you do not like to write avoid this guy and his silly little class.
My bad luck to get him two times for BUAD 201 and 301. Stuck with him again for 301 cuz of late registration and its the last open class. He stunk in both classes. Takes roll everyday. Exams are unclear. Tough grader! Want your GPA to fall? Take him.
worst class ever. he expects us to remember all the stuff that we learned in 201 class which is ridiculous! does not provide enough information for the exam. you won't get a good grade unless you are a perfect, talented speaker. Avoid him if you can-!!!
You'll gain some insight on management & communications from this class but that's about it. Tests are insanely hard, you gotta memorize the chapters word by word. Mr. Gordon doesn't explain clearly what's on the test. His final project is insane, 25+ pgs. single space + presentation. Tough grader!!! Would I take him again? No!!!
I found him to be hard (it is business) but quite nice & helpful. The TARP project everyone in our class had was 15 pages (not 25+) and that included table of contents, etc. His class is as hard as ll of 301, and he tries to make it as easy as he can. I thought he was fair.
Likes to keep grades a secret; he held office hours on the opposite days class; super tough grader in addition he likes to nitpick at your writing; he definitely follows how they tell him to grade (super hard); don't expect to get an A, if you get a B you are very lucky, hands out alot of Cs; take someone else if you can but not many good profs
A lot of ridiculous memorization in this class. howard gordon's exams are made for students with photographic memory. he grades tough as nails. the TARP project is stressful, least 25 pages total - 5 page proposal, 20 page research paper. there is a presentation to all this TARP too. this class had sooo much work. i'm in honor society but got a C+
I just took this class. We had a 3 page proposal and a 15 page TARP, many of these posts are lies. I got a lot of help from Mr. Gordon. He helped me pass the class and the EWP. Professor Gordon does grade hard, but I think they all do. I would have liked to write more in class.
Wished I listened to the previous posters. This professor howard gordon is all about his self interest. he told us a dream on the first day of class but showed us a nightmare on the day of exam. he is like his tests, both are very deceptive. stay away at all cost!
I should have saw the warning signs and dropped this class earlier but I don't want a "W" grade since I passed the drop deadline. I'm stuck in this class and it's too late to get out....
I took Gordon last semester and thought he was demanding and scary too. After I saw him in his office and he helped me with my writing I realized he was just doing his job. It was my second time taking 301, and Mr. Gordon's way of teaching the cases was better than the other professor I took. He has experience, it helps when he explains things.
could've, would've, should've dropped this class *kicking behind*
Mr. Gordon is a hard grader, but he is helpful. I found his lectures interesting and I like his real-world emphasis. I learned things I could use right away in my job. If you do not write well, you will get the grade you earned. No extra credit, no makeups, very strict. Hard class, but I admit, I started to like him in the last few weeks.
My mistake was not heeding the warnings of many earlier posts. This professor takes pride in being hard. I didn't appreciate his "nonsense" tests; they were unclear and tricky. You do need a photographic memory to do his tests. His group project requires mega-tons of work. If you enjoy putting in A-type work and getting C-grade, then he's your man.
He is a nice guy with a lot of real world experience. Worked in sales and always gives tips on how to do well in business. His class is tough yet if you are a good writer you will do fine. Tried to keep the class interesting by changing teaching methods every week. Learned a lot in his class. Helped me get a promotion at work!
Professor Gordon is tough, but he means well. He is definitely willing to help you with your writing. Always gave feedback on in-class writings. Shared real world examples..a bit arrogant, but overall good class and nice guy. Just do the work, go to class (always takes attendance), and you should be good. Oh yeah he never lets class out early.
There is just too much work in this class. Workload is equal to 2 classes! Exams are tricky to the max. Gordon grades hard. Gordon is a tough grader. Steer clear if you can.
I find his real world experience helps explains things in class. I took this class before, what a difference with 3256 Gordon. He seems genuine, all the 301 classes have the same TARP, so no getting out of it. I didn't like his grading but he does give a lot of comments andhelp. In the beginning I thought he was a jerk but later found he was quite
This is an insane class. I don't know how I got through it. Seriously. Mr. Gordon is a salesman kind of guy, hard to trust what he says. I felt mislead on what was tested, and so did the whole class. You have to know the book word by word to succeed. Final group project is insane, harder than other professors. I worked very hard and ended with C.
Gordon's 201 class isn't too bad. He gave 1 homework assignment and a group project. Everything else is done in-class. He didn't say there would be fill-in the blanks on the first exam. Tricky... Lastly, his grading is questionable. The lowest I've seen him give was a C+ and the highest a A-, so everyone basically ends up with a B in this class.
This professor is amazing!!! The students who gave him bad reviews did not try. If you come to class and do the reading you will not a problem passing his exams. He is always available for students during his office hours and helped me pass the EWP. TAKE HIM!!! Best BUAD prof!!!
This professor talks a good game in 1st two weeks, then the game changes. He refuses to discuss exams. Exam could be MC, fill-in, essays - you won't know. One thing for sure is to get a photographic memory. Gotta memorize book word by word. He tests you on nonsense things that don't apply. Group project requires 100+ hours of work with presentation
This professor is the best. I really do not know what people are complaining about. His is exams are straight forward. You have a free response which has 5 - 6 questions, then you write a memo regarding the case we EXTENSIVELY cover in class. Work and Participate in class - and you will get rewarded with a good grade. Simple.
He is a good guy but an alright professor. Hes such a hard grader all my memos I got C's on. The group project is ridiculous it takes up so much time. He does want his students to do well and if you go to his office hours he knows your trying. Randomly calls on people, which is kinda annoying. He love people who participate and engage in convos.
This professor can easily turn you off by his grading, which is very subjective. If he likes you, he can give you more points than your peers. My friend (the one he likes) rewrote an essay and received 5 extra pts by changing a few words. The other spent many hours and received 2pts with his comment, good rewrite. Wish that he will like you *_^.
Hated this class. This class was hard. He reads every word and nitpicks like crazy, I hated this class. Best part he did not lecture and made the students run the class. I thought his grading was tough, but justified. Gordon made a lot of comments on my papers and my writing did get better. Still, I worked hard and only got a B. Take someone else.
This professor too hard, make grades low no matter how hard i try. No matter if international student, he still fail. Other staffs easier with him, take other professors.
Good guy, but not the best professor. If you are a B - C student you will be happy with him. If you are an A student do not take him. Subjective grading. He gives D students C's, while the A and B students get B's.
I got an A- from Gordon, I took him for 201 as well. I found him to be fair, and IF you are a slacker you will not be able to slack in his class. I did get tired of his red pen, but my writing improved so much my boss complimented me. It is business writing people! All the BUAD professors are tough. I thought he was too strict, but fair.
I had 1 error on my paper and I got a C on it. The girl next to me had so much red on her paper you couldnt even read it, she basically got the same grade. In order to get an A he needs to "like" the way you write. My 201 professor wanted to use my paper as an example because it was so good. Gordon has his own idea of what is good. SUBJECTIVE
Dont listen to the person who got the A-. "Strict with a red pen" LOL. You only think he was strict because you make too many mistakes. All business writing professors mark mistakes. You wrote the way he wanted you too, he liked you. You were in his 201. I got a B, with no red marks.
hard and subjective. if you are an international student, find another professor because you will fail no matter how hard you try. he likes some people who are active in his class.
Do not take his class if you don't want to waste time money. He rarely teach anything. Even local students don't think his class is useful.
I took Gordon for 201 and liked him so much I took 301. I found him to be strict but it is a required class and those classes are supposed tone tough. I personally saw him help people pass and always has international students he is helping in his office. I learned a lot in his class as he covered the entire text both times. Good prof very fair
I feel honored to have Mr. Gordon as a professor, he helped me pass the EWP and also helped me with my writing. He is a nice man who is passionate about teaching. I have taken him for both 201 and 301 and promote his class with other Vietnamese students. He gave me books and extra writing assignments. If he did not help me, I know I would not pass
After reading the spam here I figured I should set the record straight. Gordon is a good guy doing his job, if you cannot write, do not participate - you do not pass. I liked his no BS approach, has a lot of real-world experience. If you want his help, he's there even helps students get jobs. Those who fail deserve it, he gives you what you earn
I am an international student and professor Gordon gave me extra writings, and tutored me in his office. He does that with many international and national students. I would not have passed without his help, he has great passion for teaching. I will take 301 from Mr. Gordon as he helped my writing improve. I recommend him.
Many of enjoyed all the extra that work and help Professor Gordon did for us. I liked the fact he got me name right and knew everyones quickly. There were a lot of times he gave us useful tips and real-world explanations in class. I thought he was funny and was sad when the class was over. I will definitely promote his class to the Asian community
HOWARD GORDON IS A VERY HARD TEACHER! IF YOU USUALLY GET GOOD GRADES, HE WILL GIVE YOU A BAD GRADE. IF YOU USUALLY GET BAD GRADES, HE WILL MAKE YOU FAIL! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE.........STAY AWAY FROM HOWARD GORDON!
I like the real-world experience Professor Gordon has, he made the class interesting and changed it each class. I actually stayed awake in his class. I found his grading to be fair and it's a writing class people! Looking at some of the poor writing here I would fail them too. Go to his office hours, I have sen him help students alot. Good guy.
Professor Gordon is a hard, but you learn alot from his class. He will help you as much as you want. If you do your work and particpate you will pass, no problem. Students who say he's unfair don't try and then blame him for the bad grade they got. Good speaker, good examples of real world situations. You must participate and come to class.
he makes people memorize the text, rather than how to apply those to general communication. his class is mostly about writing than anything else, which of course favors those with solid writing skills. but thats not enough, make sure he likes u, so answer questions in class! maybe u will get more than a C. but dont expect A. takes roll like HS
If you the book, come to class, and write okay, you'll be fine. I found the 5 short answers easy as Professor Gordon went over everything extensively in class. . All the Buad professors take roll and are strict, its a required class,The class is graded on attendance & participation so if you come to class and participate like I did you will get a B
My second time taking 201 and it made so much more sense with Professor Gordon. He explains things well with examples that we can use in the real world. He puts a lot into each class, changing things around, I never got bored and thought he was a pretty funny man too. I went to office, and got lots of help. I will definitely take 301 with him.
Professor Gordon is the best! Great speaker, cares about his students. I learned a lot from his class, things I use in all my classes and at work. I have seen him help so many students pass, get internships, and more. He brought some interesting guest speakers to class and made each class different. I would take 401 from him if there was a class!
Professor Gordon kept the class interesting and I really liked how he used real-world experiences and examples to explain things. At first he was a little scary, but once you get to know him, you realize he is a nice man. I wish I had gone to his office sooner, as when I did he really helped me out with my writing issues, loaned me a couple books!
Definitely never fell asleep in Gordon's class. He kept it real and covered the material in unique ways. I saw him helping all kinds of students with their writing. I found his class to be hard, but my writing did improve. Best part? not a lot of busywork and homework. The book sucks, too long, 30+ page chapters! Too much reading!
This professor was not my cup of tea. He plays favorites, his tests are mysterious and purely test memory NOT your knowledge. He is very subjective (as is the whole department). In your writing, something is ALWAYS wrong. Takes attendance. Was "business smart". No busy work/HW. midterms, final, HUGE project.
I can't believe the post below is a graduate student! OMG I'd fail them on spelling and grammar alone! Most of these posts are erroneous. I took Mr. Gordon for two classes and did well in both. If you can't write he will give you the grade you deserve. I found him to be very helpful. The guy responds to emails fast and cares I know.
I took Professor Gordon because of the ratings here said he was hard. I wanted to learn something and I am happy I did. Sure, he was hard, but my writing really improved! I found him to be very nice and quite helpful. He replies back from emails immediately, gave me a book to study. I will take him for 301 & 501 hopefully. Funny, too.
Professor Gordon helped me along the entire semester, my writing improved because of his class. He laughed when I told him I took him because he gets rated as a hard professor. I wanted to learn and my writing got better. I found him to be fair and genuinely wants his students to succeed.
This teacher is hard and all i ever got were Cs in his class. My friend tok him and get C to. This teacher is good if you are a good writer.
Professor Gordon is a hard teacher; he expects top quality work. That being said, professor Gordon is a very good teacher. The class is run by discussions. You do a case analysis 4 times throughout the quarter. These cases are 1 page singled spaced each and are done in class. There also a final paper. Gordon will always help you. Take for credit
Learned a lot about writing and speaking in public. I enjoyed the case discussions in class. Basically there are cases you discuss and write about. The guy seems genuine and is always there to help. Answers emails fast too. Make an appointment as he has a lot students coming to his office hours - lines!
I learned a lot in this class, and thought Professor Gordon was geniunely concerned about helping students improve their writing and even get an internship. I want to take him for 301 but his classes are always full. :(
This professor is amazing. I don't attend a lot of my other classes but I actually enjoyed coming to this class. Yes, he is hard but in one semester I saw my writing improve SO much! He really gets you ready for the real world. Take him!
He's a hard grader. There's always something wrong with your writing. However, my writing did improve after taking him. I can think faster, use words more accurately, and write under pressure. He prepares you for the real world. Take him if you want to challenge your ability. Don't take him if you care too much about your GPA."A" is a treasure
Great professor. He grades hard but he teaches the material very effectively and always encourages students to talk to him outside of class if they need help. I would definitely recommend him to anyone who wants to learn.
Amazing professor! Despite having this class at 7am on a saturday, it was well worth it!I never fell asleep, because lectures were always interesting and made you think. Like everyone said, he cares about his students & wants everyone to succeed. You WILL learn a lot in this class, this might be my favorite class at CSUF so far :] Thanks Gordon!
My second time taking this clas, and Mr. Gordon was so mcuh better than the last prof. He explains things well, and helped me every week with my writing. I actually like writing now and my writing has really improved. I am so glad I took Gordon, I will definitely take him again for 301. He really seems to care and wants his stiudents to succeed.
Nice professor cares about students. About average grader (difficulty wise). Straight forward assignments. Quizzes are a tricky(from the department), written assignments easier.
One of the BEST teachers at CSUF. Gordon is intelligent, knowledgeable, caring & inspiring. Not only did he help me to become a stronger reader & writer, but he is responsible for landing me my Target Executive Internship. Be prepared to work hard and reap the rewards of success.
Professor Gordon is one of the absolute best teachers I've ever had! I HIGHLY recommend him. He is a very experienced businessman and knows what he is talking about. He truly wants to help all of his students and gives a lot of feedback on writings. I suggest going into his office hours even if its just once and he will remember you and help you!
Gordon is a great teacher! He gives good examples and is very helpful during his office hours. His grading is very hard! But with hard work and paying attention in class you will do great! Make sure you think above and beyond
Difficult grader, however, he's a very nice person and very helpful with real life experiences. There is no reason not to get at least a C.
This teacher is so legit. CSUF needs to step it up and make this guy full time because he is the best teacher I have had in my life.
Professor Gordon is Awesome! He makes your writing better. You have to work in his class, but he knows his stuff and is very chill....
Prof. Gordon is hands down a great professor. Please, please understand that he will SLAUGHTER your papers in red ink but seriously use all the feedback he gives you. If writing is not your strong point, GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS! He will help you improve your writing. He expects results, and none of this I'm-trying-my-best BS.
I liked the fact that professor Gordon gave us example after another of case analysis. We practiced cases all semester and it was nice to have a professor with actual business experience and not just theory from someone who has not walked the walk. He reads every line and gives plenty of feedback, if you want to write better he tells you how
What I got from this professor was a real world experience. He is all about what's out there now and the real world. He is very helpful if you ask. He reminded me of my uncle who owns a shop cause I need to always think about the customer.
Great professor. helps a lot if you go to his office hours. sit in the front of the class hard grader wants papers to be exactly the way he wants them or you get a C. All can pass this class just get feedback on your papers to make them better.
Very hard grader. Received my very first C as my final grade. Very very helpful but is an extremely tough grader. He wants you to succeed and is there for you throughout the entire semester.
The best prof, learned so much in 201 that I took him again for 301. The guy genuinely cares about students. He helped me get an internship and my writing improved so much my boss said so! He gives you what you deserve, he isn't hard, he's real world. I got good grades in his class, it's totally doable if you pay attention and follow directions.
Prof Gordon was a great intro to 1st semeseter@CSUF. He is professional, yet approachable and genuinely wants you to succeed;he will go above & beyond to help you if you ask and are at least trying. Go to class, don't be discouraged by bad grades-visit his office & get help;keep track of all your papers-you're gonna need them! Highly recommend Prof!
I love this professor! Funny, smart, helpful. Every class is different. He answers emails and texts immediately. It's nice to have a professor who loves his job and genuinely wants to help you succeed. Grades online (plenty of feedback) with written and audio comments!Only downside is his office hours are busy and classes full with waiting lists.
Pretty hard teacher. He was an english major so a tough grader. Reads from the powerpoints that the book gives him. Doesn't really clarify how to write the assignments so it's a must to study the book for the format.
Gordon is a great teacher, I loved how he made every class different. He is definitely not boring, as every lecture was different. I don't know what class this person below was in, because we practiced writing in class, did group work, practiced presentations and more. When I rewrote my assignments I saw how much my writing improved. Thanks Gordon!
Really hard grader; BUAD 301 with Prof Gordon is definitely not an easy A. When it comes to exams (in-class case analyses), he grades on the plausibility and creativity of your answers, not so much grammar and fluency. He's very critical. C's are the norm. You're lucky if he gives you a B- on a case analysis. I suggest taking a different professor.
Another great class with Gordon, took him for 201 as well. He's a good guy, goes well beyond his job description to help. My writing and critical thinking has improved. I can get my thoughts into words quicker, thanks Prof G. Highly recommend
He has seriously one of the biggest hearts i have ever met. He cares a lot for his students. Yes, he is a VERY hard grader but he is just preparing you for what is ahead and how the real world is going to treat you. I definitely recommend to go to his office hours, JUST GO BE HIS FRIEND!! he is amazing! you will not regret it.
There are three quizzes, which comes out mostly from the online hw and book. A project that we must present at the end of the semester. Overall, he is a fair grader and always put in the effort to help his students. He is clear with what he wants his students to write. I highly recommend this professor!
Prof. Gordon is hip, nice, and passionate about teaching. He cares about students and gives you real world advice. Loved hearing about his experiences as well. BUAD class material itself is a little dull, but Prof. Gordon makes the best out of it. Take him, he'll criticize your paper and make you a better writer.
Professor Gordon is one of the nicest professors you will meet. He always looks out for his students and will help them in any way possible. I guess you could say he's a tough grader, but it's college. He gives a lot of constructive feedback. Topic itself is pretty easy and he makes it clear. Attendance is a very small part of the grade.
Nice guy Available to students, but because there are so many people asking for help, don't expect to get quality help. Purposely lowers grades Talks about himself a lot Reads from power point Doesn't provide examples or give very much instruction aside from "love, reasons, bad news, love" when it comes to any writing assignments
He is a really good person inside and out and really wants his students succeed. That being said, he grades extremely hard. The papers are in class and they have to be literally perfect for you to get even a high B.
I loved the fact that Gordon made each class different. He always related the topic to real world examples. I found him to be quite fair and helpful. His office hours are packed but he stays over on his own time to help. I've never seen a professor do that. He's very clear on what is expected in the assignments and papers. lots of feedback.
Professor Gordon makes class enjoyable. He's an awesome teacher and is always there to help. One of the best professors I've had!
Gordan is a good guy, who tries to make each student involved in class and wants everyone to succeed. I loved his sense of humor and real world examples. Go to his office hours, he will help you any way he can. He definitely grades hard, but I couldn't really argue with the mistakes he found. He doesn't miss anything and gives no extra credit.
Professor Gordon made me up my game, and my writing improved. I feel better about my writing and I am faster getting my thoughts into words. Ask for help, the guy never says no. He texts and emails back right away, which is nice if you have questions. I want to take him for 301 but his classes are always full. CSUF needs to make him fulltime.
Best professor I've had at CSUF. He has a lot of business insight and shares many applicable tips for writing, being interviewed, etc. Cares for his students and wants everyone to pass. A hard grader because he cares that you know how to write in business correctly. If you have Professor Gordon, you are in good hands and will learn a lot.
Tough class, but at least you learn. You MUST practice writing, and he will give you specific practice assignments if you go to his office hours. He makes himself available - if you don't utilize office hours, you can't complain when you get a bad grade.
Had him during Spring 14. I have to say Professor Gordon is the best instructor I have ever had at csuf. I was always excited to walk into this class (not a usual feeling in college). Professor G. was very inspirational about his life and career experiences. He is very professional and dedicated to his students. TAKE HIM, HE IS AWSOME!
Professor Gordon is awesome. He includes real life stories in his lectures which make it interesting to hear. His exams are straight forward, a bit tough on grading. Ask for help and he'll help. Participation is a MUST!
Professor Gordon is very helpful if you ask. Lectures are interesting because he is very knowledgeable about real life situations. Exams are tough, he makes you think for cases. Textbook used throughout the course. Great professsor, I learned a lot from him. Would retake a class with him. Recommend!
Probably one of the most knowledgable and sincere professors I have had. Genuine and so very helpful. He truly loves his job and it shows. I like all the feedback he gives, if you want to do well in his class, he will help you. Awesome prof, wish he. Taught more classes, and I wish I had him for 201.
You definitely have to be a good writer to get a good grade in this class. Your "tests" in this class are basically a lot of small writing assignments like short essays, memos. He gives very good feedback on your papers though--real life examples. This class really prepared me for BUAD 301
Gordan was my favorite professor because he was straight forward. He really watns you to succeed so that is why he is tough. Expect to read and write. -in class essays -final show up to his office hours for help because he WILL help you out. I recommend to take him
Professor Gordon is by far my favorite professor at Fullerton. Not an easy A by any means, I ended up with a B, but worth it. Very tough grader but he challenges you to become a better writer and prepares you for the business world. Would definitely take him again. Too bad he isn't teaching 301 this semester.
3 case analysis instead of exams, a TARP report (all 301s have), a brochure assignment, and a lot of in class group work and discussions. You have to be a good writer, but it is a writing class. Extremely fair, but firm. Would definitely recommend him. Good guy. Very approachable.
If you must take a writing class, please do yourself a favor and take it with this professor. I had a difficult time only because I lack in writing skills. Go see him in his office as soon as you can, before or after class. He will do everything in his power to assist you in getting a good grade. This is the best professor I have ever had.
Honestly, Professor Gordon is one of the best professors I've had at CSUF. He cares about his students. This class is very hard!!! Go to his office hours! He honestly helped me out so much! Ask him because he is willing to help you. He still remembers me even though its been one year since I was in his class. Take Him! He is one of the BEST!
Professor Gordon is a really tough grader. Sometimes he was a little too nit picky, and it seemed like he basically found reasons to avoid giving you an "A." He gives amazing notes and feedback for the assignments. He goes through the trouble of providing an audio recording and written notes. You will improve.
Buad classes are all hard, this is my second time taking Buad 201. Professor Gordon explained things so well that I passed this time and with a much higher grade than before! He won't give away grades, you have to earn them, but he tells you what is required. I wish he taught more classes, I'd take him for every class. Best professor at CSUF!
I took Professor Gordon for Business Communications is301. He's one of the best professors I've ever had. The lectures and tests are from the book (book essential to passing) but he uses real life examples from his experiences in the field. He is super helpful and I'd recommend him !
Awesome teacher! Knows what he's talking about, always helpful. Highly recommend him!
Professor Gordon is one of the best professors i have had at CSUF. You will definitely learn a lot from his class. He is a tough grader but only because he actually cares. Quizzes are fairly easy and the online homework takes about an hour every week. Various small writing projects throughout the year and a class presentation all very easy.
You Da Bomb! Prof G
Heard good things about G on campus and they're all true. Plenty of real world learning, and online audio comments on papers! Wish he taught more classes as I'd definitely take him again. Smart, nice, and genuine. Not an easy grader but fair and always approachable. Best prof l've had at CSUF
please take him. guarantee you will learn a lot of things after the class. You are welcome. :)
Prof G is genuinely concerned with student's success. He will do anything he can to help, I wish there were more professors like Gordon. He brings a lot of experience and knowledge to the class. I hate late night classes but took it so I could have G as my professor. His lectures are inspiring and fill with tips. I took him for Buad 301 and wish I
Loved this class, as I learned a lot from Gordon's experience and how he translated real-world experience into the classroom. He's always ready to help and has time for everyone. The audio feedback on case analysis is the best. Wish he taught more classes.
In my opinion, he is a tough grader. The group project is long and useless. I would advise you to take another teacher. I didn't seem to understand how he thought his lectures or "tips" are helpful at all.
Best prof at CSUF, wish he taught more classes, as they are always full. Loved the audio comments on papers and that he is always willing to help. Funny and lots of great experience brought into the classroom. Genuinely cares about students.
AWESOME GUY - really cares about students and will help you any way he can. Wish he taught more classes. His classes are always full, now I know why. Fair grader.
He is a very tough grader. His lectures did not really teach you about business writing, but to spend your time to listen to his "funny" stories. If English is not your first language, DO NOT TAKE HIM! !
He terrible, you win learn nothing. Especially international student, he will give you the low grade. He only gives good grades to students that write good English. Almost all the class is failing.
Prof. G is a great lecturer, but if you take his class be prepared to work ridiculously hard for your grade. He won't hand out A's unless you are a PERFECT writer. If English is your second language, he will show no mercy. The class left me frustrated. In the end I gave up because any extra effort was never reflected in the gradebook. :(
This man is the worst, he reads every word and picks on every mistake. You have to have perfect grammar to get a good grade. He never gives As, and hardly gives and feedback. Horrible speaker and grader. AVOID.
Professor Gordon is an awesome teacher. This is a writing class--so you need to know how to write, right? These classes are challenging and everyone knows it. I hope he teaches more classes. I learned valuable info to move forward on my path to graduation and beyond.
Professor G is very helpful and wants everyone to do well in his class. He gives tons of feedback (both written and verbal) on your tests. He gives A's to people that work hard for it so don't slack off and try your hardest. Go see him if you're struggling. He's always willing to help. I'm glad I took his class and would honestly take him again.
Professor G is a really good man, so take him! As an international student, I kept going to his office hours and he would always help me. Yes, the class is hard, but you can do it. He's there to help everyone, so go see him. He's harsh on grammar, but he only does that because he cares about you. You earn your grade in his class, so work hard.
Professor Gordon is a Passionate professor who is willing to help students who are struggling in his course. When you take his course be prepare to work hard passing your writing assignments because he won't give out As that easy. There is a Direct, Executive Summary, Negative, Persuasive, Research Paper, Oral Presentation, Portfolio, final.
Good person, but teacher?? This class is frustrating because he never gives clarity/examples on what he expects in both case analysis & the research report. He's always willing to help, but how much can he help if all he does is point out your mistakes and never explain what he's looking for. Great guy, but questionable prof.
Professor G knows the material and helps you any way he can. We all know Buad classes aren't easy and l don't know what class some of these people were in as he gives written and audio comments and texts, emails, etc., are replied to right away. It's a writing class so yeah writing has to be good
My favorite professor ever. He cares and really wants his students to succeed. I've never got so much feedback and tips. Tons of real world advice and examples. His grading is fair and he will help you any way he can. I wish he taught more classes. Highly recommend Professor G. Learned a lot.
Great prof! Goes over everything thoroughly. Lots of different ways to teach the material, an early class but I was able to stay awake. Great speaker and seems to care about students succeeding
Prof. Gordon is a good guy with a lot of relevant experience. He makes it very clear he cares about the success of his students. The only issue I had with the class was the lack of clarity given on assignments throughout the semester. It would have been helpful to receive examples of A quality case studies.
Very tough professor. I do not recommend taking him because he is a very tough grader and it's either his way or the highway. BUAD301 case studies are very subjective and he lacks that understanding. Quizzes are very vague and based on large portions of readings. After you take the case study he explains what to look for and what not to do.
It's a writing class, and you have to have a business mind which Professor Gordon helped me develop. I went to his office hours and it helped a lot. I liked him and thought he was patient and genuine. My only regret is i didn't take him for 201. I loved his audio feedback, and his teaching style. His classes fill quick, no wonder.
Very tough grading professor. His grading for the cases is very confusing and his lectures before the cases do not seem to help. I highly recommend not taking him. No curve, No extra-credit offered.
Buad 201 was really hard for me as Im not the best writer. Gordon helped me with every assignment and gave me extra assignments to practice, and Im sure I would not have done as well without his help. I ended up getting an SLC internship because he pushed me. Only complaint is there are too many people in his office and his 301 classes are full
Dr. Gordon is a great guy. I took him for 201, 301 & his sales class. Hes kind of intimidating if you cant write he shows no mercy, but I cant complain as his feedback made sense. I loved the audio comments on all your papers VERY HELPFUL. The guy has a lot of real world experience which helps in class explaining things. Go to office hours!
I took Gordon and felt I must respond - the student who got an A- minus complaining? He does not have "so many papers" I took his 301 and he has ONE paper. Professor Gordon HELPED me get an internship, study abroad, and into the MBA program. I took him for 201 & 301. He's great professor! If you can't write, he will give you the can't write grade.
Professor G is da bomb!
Wish he taught more classes. The best professor at CSUF i have ever had. Gives audio feedback on all assignments and will hep you anyway he can. Had him for 201 as well. His classes are always full as he does everything he can to help you learn the material. Gordon gave me extra assignments to improve my writing and it helped.
Hard class, but all Buad classes are. I hated getting up early for a 7:00 am class, but Professor Gordon's lectures were inspiring and I actually enjoyed them. I typically hate school but his class opened me up to the MCS and also the Sales Leadership Center. Professor Gordon is the reason I got a summer internship. Taking him for 301.
The hardest class I have ever taken. I thought I was a good writer, but it was hard to admit I wasn't. Gordon at first seemed harsh, but I realized it was for my own good. Once I listened to his audio comments I saw that I did need improvement in my logic and critical thinking. He pushed me to do better and I feel more confident about my writing.
I have never had a professor at CSUF like Dr. Gordon. He went out of his way to help me during office hours and after. I saw my writing improved, when I redid my assignments and saw my first writing. My boss noticed! I am definitely taking him for 301 or any other class he teaches. He's real world and his audio comments are the bomb. Good guy.
Professor Gordon records his feedback on Titanium. He is however a really tough grader on case analysis. Group project is intense, any grammar mistakes on TARP report will fail your project.
1. Case analysis' are a big part of your grade. He does not tell you what he wants, but what he doesnt want. so you have to figure it out. 2. the group project was HORRIDDD. Finish it 2 weeks in advance and make him check it multiple times. For short-answer exams, memorize every bold word in the chapters/how they apply. Take him though, super chill
Gordon is hard on grammar but it is an advanced writing class. I didn't get the grade I wanted in his class but it was my Tarp. Be careful who you sit with as your team gets the same grade on the research paper. I thought he explained things well and was as fair as he could be. Absolutely loved his audio feedback, helped my case analysis improve.
Second time taking this class. My friend told me about Gordon, she took him for 201 & 301. I learned so much more than when I took it with another professor. Professor G explains things a few different ways, and has a lot of experience which helps explain why things need to be a certain way. I enjoyed being in his class even though it was at 7am!?
This class can be hard, Gordon is quite nitpicky on so many things on the case analyses & you have to hope what you write is what he deems correct. The TARP group report is not so bad, make sure you like the people you're sitting next to bc they will be your group for the whole semester. He sounds exactly what people think Californians sound like.
you will learn a lot. doesn't take attendance, but he sees who shows up and who doesn't. my writing improved so much, he finds mistakes you didn't even know were there. real word experience/ gives you useful workplace advice. book was like $100 but you need it to do the timed Aplia problems. go to office hours so he can proofread it.
I am still wondering why he gets so many good comments. He grades students' paper based on his opinion. Once you get a C, you will never get a higher grade.
Gordon is a good guy; basically, it's a writing class, so if you write well you do well. He's quite genuine and helpful, my writing improved as he found grammar mistakes I could not. Hated the book and Aplia, but the Buad dept. forces professors to use the long, redundant and expensive book (written by a CSUF Prof)& cengage homework - the worst.
Tough class, and only graded by a few things. Switch out if you still can.
Great guy, helpful, and amazing speaker. Lots of work, but all Buad classes have the same assignments. Not say but Gordon helps anyone who asks.
Professor G is da bomb
Too much work, like 8 papers, 700 page book (redundant common sense & filled with typos), a report, quizzes, Aplia (expensive) grammar and timed? homework. After doing all this work, I found out that the newer professors and the PhDs do whatever they want in the class and do not give all the work Gordon does. He follows the syllabus, take a newbie
My favorite professor ever, Professor G helped me get an internship and full time job. He helped me and pushed me and it paid off. He is one of the few professors who loves his jobs and truly wants to help students succeed. I've been trying to get him for 301 but his classes are always packed. I know why. Take him.
G pushed me to apply for an internship at the SLC and I got an awesome job. I am so happy that I have a job after graduation. I have only Professor Gordon to thank. Plus, I was his 301 student, no resumes in that class. I now have a career and I am so happy. Take him, ask for help, he always does. Never have I seen this from other profs.
Professor Gordon is a very tough guy. DO NOT take this class, DO NOT. In-class writings are very difficult. Quizzes does not relate to his lectures. His grading is way tougher than any other professors. Lectures are useless, you can just read the book and understand better. EXTREMELY tough grader. Recommend taking other professor for this class.
Gordon is a great speaker who gives tons of feedback, audio and written! He is very helpful and will help you any we he can. If you write well youll do well - if you cant write remember its a writing class. Will take him for 301 as well
LOVE Professor Gordon. He offers so much help outside of the classroom, whether it be with his class or your resume. Yeah his class isn't an easy A, you have to work for it. Take his class, he will push you to become a better writer. Heads up, he is a tough grader when it comes to case analysis. But he gives good feedback and will help you improve.
G is the best professor I have ever had, he gives audio and written feedback which is so convenient and useful. If you ask for help - he's there. He gave me extra practice assignments during office hours and was instrumental in getting me getting an awesome paid internship. Gordon is genuine and goes out of his way to help. G is Da Bomb. Take him.
G is the best professor I have ever had. I typically don't like professors as many do not reply to emails and seem to be bothered. Professor G is always available, funny, and always has some kind of answer to my questions. There is a reason his classes are full and office hours packed - why he isn't full time tenured I have no idea. TAKE HIM
Professor Gordon was the most down to earth professor I have ever had. He truly does care about his students. His grading is a little on the rough side and it is hard to get above a C+ on the cases. Do good on the project and go to his office hours every week so he can go over it and you will be good! Also, sit next to the right people on 1st day.
Professor Gordon is one of the best professors I've ever had. He is SO awesome. Genuinely cares about his students. We were super tight by the end of the semester! He is a really tough grader but that's only because he wants you to improve. Group project is TOUGH. Overall a really enjoyable class. Highly recommend him! Super sweet and funny!
Took Gordon for 201 and actually ended up trying to pay 301 kids to drop his class when I was waitlisted. By far best professor I've ever had. There are regular weekly homework assignments online that don't take more than 30 min. Lots of big writing assignments in class, but he prepares us well. Go to office hours as much as you possibly can!
Professor G is the best professor I have ever had. He cares, he's genuine, and if you want help he always says yes. It's a shame he is leaving as the college needs more professors with real world experience like Gordon. Go to office hours, let him know you need help, he will. Getting up for a 7am class wasn't bad as he made a boring class useful
Professor Gordon is great! He's a very practical and logical professor and his teaching style was very effective. Very straight forward and respects his students. He gives constructive criticism and wants all of his students to pass.
