he is good teacher. he offer a lot of help.
do not take him. he is hard, hard. A lot of people complains about him and half the class dropped. His tests are harder than the ones in a senior college
HE iS NOT HELPFUL, HiS TESTS ARE HARD, HE DOESN'T TEACH ALL THE THiNGS THAT WE'RE SUPPOSED TO LEARN, HE STUGGLES WHEN SOMEONE ASKS HiM A QUESTiON, ALSO HE TALKS PRETTY FAST AND UNCLEAR. HE'S ALWAYS SMiLiNG.. i HEARD HALF OF HiS CLASS WiTHDRAW.
Terrible teacher, quiezes are mad hard and he is very disorganized
People, if you're serious about school, you'll do the work and easily get an A. His test are straight from the book and his labs are easy. You must be crazy if you withdrew, cause he is the best out of Bio teachers. Know your material and pay attention in class & you will definately get an A.
He is not a good professor. Do not take him .......Youre going to waste your time and money. Be careful......... A lot of writting essay's exams.
I really don't understand people who complain about this professor. His tests are not difficult.Prof. Motoike isa nice and good teacher.
People, you didn't experience a bad professor yet! He is not bad at all. I found him very helpful and responsive to students' needs. His quizzes are not bad, just know your material from what he explained on the lecture and you will get an A. He will give you a better grade than what you're supposed to get.
If you don't come to class and do the work, of course you're going to hate him. If you do, however, you will find Motoike helpful, friendly and interested in his students.
He is good.He gave me the feeling of American standard teaching.I am fully satisfied with his teaching.I am just started with his class but like it.He makes good use of books and has many ways to make us understand.Hey this is science so to go deep into it essay exams are necessary. If ur gd student focus on his teaching not how he pauses like hmmmm
He is helpful. His quizz are not hard if you understand his the lecture.
Apply yourself, read material b4 class & communicate your difficulties with this professor (in person or via email) & you will understand the material better & be able to earn a solid A. He is very willing to work with students interested in learning. Quizzes are tough; lab exams easier. A very nice & approachable chap. You will learn in his class.
amazinlgy respnsive. I took SCB 203 in the 6 week course, emailed him at all hours of the night and got respnses from as early as 7 am and as late as midnight! He likes using similar looking words in his mulitple choice tests, SO KNOW UR SPELLINGS!he is not "easy" but after his 6 week class other classes are easy. loved his enthusiasim for the field
He is always available for students, answers all of questions from students. If you try hard, you will get good grade. If you just wanna do OK, you won't pass.
I took this professor in 6 weeks session. He was very helpfull. The course is very hard good thing he was always available to answer your questions. You have to study hard to get a good grade in this class.
He speaks really fast and tone voice is horrible. It's like a phone ringing very loud and it's irritating. seriously! Very hard tests and doesn't care about the students
He's good. Just do the work. You can ask him a question a million time. You can email him at midnight and get an answer. He's the only prof. who will send you your grade after an hour of taking it. He's totally helpful. I was sick when I took this class, so it was a bit hard, but I still get an A+.
this professor is passionate about his work, hes so ected to be teaching this subject. we was not clear on the material he taught.he is very helpful.
He is a kind of passonate professor. very helpful and be enthusiastic regarding students. He is nice but his class very tough.
THE BEST - but difficult. You will not find a better, more involved professor. Will answer any and all questions at all hours. Answers all emails and requests. Very smart and passionate about subject. Not a cakewalk - he writes hard quizzes, but if you study - a A is possible. Once you have this guy, other teachers at LAGCC look lame
He's okay only if you participate and ask questions...certainly not a day in the park with him tho
The best and most understanding teacher there is. I really like his class and him as a person. He helps you whenever you need help.
he is really hard to be honest. I have always been an A student but for this class i don't know if I can get an A though i study a lot. I think there are a lot of easier professors unless you don't really care about your grade then I will say take him. He gives too many unnecessary materials, so most times you don't even know where to concentrate

Avoid him if you can. Questions are confusing and not straight forward and could be interpreted in a lot of ways. Take him only if you want to waste your money and if you are in nursing don't bother taking him.
He is a nice professor but quite difficult. Though I got an A but with a lot of hard work. If you really study hard and ask questions, you will be fine
The most dedicated professor I have had thus far. He will answer any questions posted on blackboard at all hours of the night. His exams are based primarily on class notes which consist of short answer and fill-in questions, some of which have multiple answers. Extra credit/points can be accumulated throughout the semester to boost your grade.
EXTREMELY helpful & hard working BUT he expects just as much from you. 20+ hrs/wk of serious study time is my advice. If you can't make that time committment, avoid him b/c his quizzes & tests will be too hard. If you're diligent, he's THE best prof.
He is not easy, but he helps you can make it. Tests are hard, but not impossible to get an A. He is nice and kind and he will answer every questions if you ask for.
EXTREMELY TOUGH SUBJECT. Like most of the students on this site have already suggested, STUDY! This prof is helpful if you seek help. Remember Science is a self-taught subject, so take the initiative to study at home (A LOT). Toward the end of the course (after the midterm) he gave us bonus questions on the quiz's and exam. I got an A... just Study
his class is very tough but he is very dedicated to help students to be successful in the course.2-3hrs extra everyday to study is a must!
I have never worked so hard in my life for a class! Motoike is a very knowledgeable professor. He is dedicated, compassionate & he wants his students to do well...but he is tough! The material is intense. Be prepared to work hard!!
Motolke is the "Rachel Ray" of Scb203. He speaks really fast and likes to do things in 30 min. I.e. lecture exams. Like a previous student said, some of his questions are confusing and not straightforward. The only good thing about him is that he would let you touch the bone models. But he was a nightmare in lecture.
Okay professor. Gives extra credit work. I have found other professors to be clearer in their presentation of the material.
He ONLY gave us 30 minis for finishing quiz and it was not enough for us because most of his questions were very comfusing and tricky. There were ALWAYS unclear questions and some students asked A LOT about it during the exam.It really annoyed me and sometimes I lost my consentration. Avoid him if you dont want to take exams within unfair time limi
I am glad that it is over
Don't get me wrong here. He's a nice guy, but I just don't get his teaching style. I sat in on another professor's class and how I wished that this person was my professor instead. Like others said, the tests are confusing. He's sometimes confusing. I found that I needed to do much of the work on my own for clarification.
This professor is very energetic, he keeps the class fun, and he is very helpful. His lessons are very clear, organized, and by the book. He challenges your brain so if you are a slacker, this is not the professor for you. If you love learning and want to learn Anatomy and Physiology the correct way, MOTOIKE IS YOUR GUY!
Honestly, he is very hard. We go to a community college and we have careers to build and he is just oblivious to our needs. Take a chill pill professor!!! take it easy.
I feel like his main focus was to see how tricky he can make his tests. Like he has something to prove. When the majority of the class gets less than 60% on tests, in some cases, less than 40% there is a major problem. His lectures can be confusing. He is very quick to get back to emailed questions and willing to comit extra time to students.
Everytime I saw A LOT of students were dropped from his class because most of his exams were extremetely difficult. He should know why so many students are dropping his class. Avoid him especially Nursing major stdents!
Professor Motoike was a very hard teacher. It felt like he was trying to teach med students. His exams are tricky. I did not like his teaching skills. He would just write down exactly from the book outline chapters. I had to study on my own everyday to understand things myself. I would not take him again.
Warning don't take this guy . He's extremely helpful but he gives too much info. Don't take this guy unless you have no choice and its your only class because you must memorize the text book.Tests are very hard.
This guy is perfect for students with a lot of time on their hands & they like doing puzzles under 30 min. My biggest regret is that I didn't see it sooner.
DO NOT SLACK!!! HES A GREAT PROFESSOR. YOU WILL LEAVE THAT CLASS WITH ENORMOUS AMOUNT OF INFO. HE WILL HELP YOU AT ANYTIME!
exams extremely difficult.
BEST, BEST, BEST................JUST TAKE HIS CLASS IF U LOVE ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY. BEST OF ALL. TEACHING SKILL IS GREAT......
Horrible, only cares about finishing syllebus does notcareabout students. Worst teacher ever! Questions are confusing so is how he conducts the class. Do not take him.
Everything everyone wrote is true, his quizzes are at the end of class & only give you 30 minutes. If you have him for lab, he might schedule lab quizzes in the same week. You will study tremendous about of material--most other professors don't expect you to know. You cannot slack in his class & expect to devote all your time to this class.
The other students were not joking about the intensity of the workload! He expects you to know more on the topics than other professors. You will not get by if you're a slacker. He is helpful if you ask him for help. Would I recommend him, no. Is he a good professor? Yes, if you are willing to put the amount of work he expects of you.
I am personaly found this professor very energetic, keeps the class fun, and he is VERY HELPFULL if you ask for it.His test are NOT easy he likes to challenge your brain so if you are a slacker, this is not the professor for you. If you love learning and want to learn Anatomy and Physiology , MOTOIKE IS YOUR GUY!
You could spend hours at the A & P lab(the practice exams are five years old) or making flashcards at your desk. It still wouldn't help. The useless extra credit essay are pointless as well. Motolke mumbles a lot during lectures. He makes the questions very confusing during his 30 min exams.
Everything everyone wrote is true, his quizzes are toward the end of class & only give you 30 minutes. If you have him for lab, he might schedule lab exam in same week as lecture quizzes. Lab exams are difficult also (whole class did not do well on first one) DO NOT SLACK IF YOU TAKE HIM..DEVOTE all your time to class.
Do not take this class if you are not enthusiastic about Biology. The exams are extremely difficult because they require a lot of memorization. However, if you're interested in biology, then this course is a must, The professor is well informed in the field, and you get to go the Museum of Natural History as a class assignment.
His exams are EXTREMELY difficult and require a lot of memorization. he doesn't give extra credit so don't bother asking, and there is ALOT of homework given throughout the year. Honors biology? don't take it unless your a biology major or you actually know about biology. trust me you'll regret it.
Took his scb 165 (Vertebrae Evolution) class in fall 2014. A pretty solid professor. Teaches from powerpoints & prior knowledge. some lectures could be rather boring while others can be rather compelling. Has a good sense of humor.3 tests including a final. Just show up, pay attention, take good notes, &ask questions when confused about a topic
I LOVED Dr. Motoike's class! He is very enthusiastic, explains things in a clear and interesting way, and he is very helpful if you have questions. Some advice: don't waste your time using the textbook, just write down everything he says and study it. Only use the textbook when he says to. Use the study lab to help memorize bones/muscles/veins.
The worst professor in the world! confusing, not supportive, not clear... and at the end his tests cover subjects not seem in class....
During lectures he's very enthusiastic but his thoughts aren't clear, jumps around explaining different things at the same time. HARDEST GRADER EVER. There were 30+ students in the beginning of the session, fast forward to the end of the semester there were only 6 people left!!!
Professor Motoike is the most confusing instructor I've had. His lectures are long. He tells you what he thinks is on the exam but its not really on there. I don't know how he grades exams. I wouldn't want to take him again.
he explain things but then in the test he will ask you a complete different thing. take points off for little mistake or sometime won't give you any points
Funny, smart, powerpoint is what the exam is on. You will probably need excellent study skills, or just be a relentless student to pass this class. Too much material to study for. Professor himself is kind and easy to talk to but the coursework is so much for an elective. Rarely elaborates unless asked, will read from slides for entire class
Come on scb 203 in laguardia he isn't a bad grader just get ready to read and taking practice exams. Some students can pass by just going through his powerpoints but im the type that i studied from the book, powerpoint and masteringa&p
He's such a hard professor, He makes the work so difficult for you to learn. He is the head of the Department. His test are not what he said going to be on the test. He acts like he care but he don't care.
i do not appreciate how this professor say on thing and proceeds to do the next, for example he'll tell us to study and focus on the quizzes from his prior classes because most of the material will be from there and it is not! When he teach the lecture with power points he goes so fast and when you ask a question you may not get a straight forward
He posts previous exams for students to study on blackboard. Pay attention in class because everything on the exams are going to be from the things he says in class and on his powerpoints. Study the powerpoints and the sample exams. You don't need to read (purchase) the textbook for this course.
He is a good professor, funny too and very accessible. It's just that he just reads off the power point without breaking down the information to better understand. I think he's a bit fast too with his materials.
Thsi proffesor is one of the worst proffesors at LaGuardia. Please do not take him. He tries to be funny but is not. I was really hoping to get into the nursing program but thanks to this proffesor i am changing my major. Take someone else, Hes always saying that the quizzes come from the department yet he is the head of the department.
HE IS HARD TO UNDERSTAND.
Lots of work, lots of homework, lots of tests, but also lots of chance to get a good grade as he drops lowest quiz score and replaces second lowest with homework score. He also gives credit for seeing the tutor. He is head of the department, but study the powerpoints and you should be fine. It's a hard class anyway so every prof is gonna be hard
Great professor! I don't know the others, but he is the best Lab professor ever! He puts everything in order at the beginning of class and he is so organized. Don't study other thing that he doesn't tell you on his lectures for the tests. And he explains everything so clear. His drawings made everything more understandable as well. It was fun!
This professor has a very strong accent. Sometimes is very hard to understand. His drawings are very confusing. He tries to make everything seem so nice and easy but is not. Dont take him. Take the word of a person who took his class. DO NOT TAKE HIM.
Professor Motoike is a true gem. This professor can explain something to you in ways for any student to understand, and he will try his best to do so. If you can't reach his office hrs shoot him an email, he'll answer just as fast. He is considerate and always excited about his lectures! Take his class, you'll appreciate him once he's gone.
Professor/Dr. Howard Motoike, So far the best professor i hv evr cm across. He is well organized, punctual, helpful and available. He will promptly reply on your emails. He posts the last semester's test on bb to use are sample questions & gives homework to practise. His exams r similar to those questions. Study n take him. He is the best :)
Best professor ever :)
Professor Motoike is an absolute sweetheart. Such a kind soul. Very fun professor though he does get very lecture heavy at times. Everything you need is on the handouts he gives out in class.
I don't know why his rate is not high. I took his lecture class. He goes very fast sometimes but when I had some questions, he responded normally within 5 min. His ppts are very straight forward, give review quizzes for each lecture and quizzes were straight from his slides. No tricky question.
Dr. Motoike's lectures are very clear and easy to understand. His exams aren't too hard as they only come from his PowerPoints and there aren't any trick questions on them. He is accessible during his office hours and gives good feedback. He responds to your emails very quickly. He gives lots of study materials, like review questions and old exams.
Professor Motoike is amazing!Everything what you need to learn for the exams he puts on his power point slides, just study it and you will pass!During the semester he gave different assignments to earn extra points!I had him as my lab teacher and didn't regret it at all.
I just can't believe the rating Rn. I was hoping to see a high rate. Prof.H. Motoike is a lovely person who always supports students. He might be little fast but he teaches really good. When you don't understand him he would talk about it again if you ask. And most importantly he replies really fast in email. He is always there. Guys take him.
This is the professor you want to take to understand what you are learning in clear details. He does pop quiz questions in class. Very organized, grades generously. Willing to help you pass. Responds to emails within minutes. Hands down the BEST! B grade due to lousy SCB203 Lab professor Meladie Roberts.
Professor Motoike is best professor, I dont understand why his rating is not high . He deserve good rating . He teach so well and most importantly he is so organized all his Power points and his extra study materials . Take him you will never regret , he will reply email in 5 minutes and his grading is fairly. He is class coordinator of A&P.
gives u a lot of resources to study from (chapter review questions & uses study guides from past quizzes). i would take him both for 203 and 204 if u can. lecture over lab if u can too.
Prof. Motoike is an excellent professor for this course! Everything that he will test you on is from the lecture and lab PowerPoint presentations that he goes over in class. However, you're really going to have to work hard to get a good grade being that this is a very content heavy course. He also responds very quickly to emails which is a plus.
He's an excellent prof. I hesitated when I saw the mixed reviews but I don't regret taking his class. He's very clear and helpful about his quizzes and exams, tells you exactly what to study so you can't not be prepared. He's also easy to reach, responds quickly, and wants you to succeed.
I would not take this professor again. They hour long lectures along with the labs were dreadful drowsy talking barley any hands on activities. Quizzes every week while trying to study for lab practicals were dreadful, if you like a hands on professor this professor is not for you, take this class with someone else for a better experience.
SCB203 is not an easy class so be prepared to study. Professor Motoike is great. He is accessible at all times, always helpful for his students. He provides sample exams with answers. All lecture and lab material is free on blackboard.
Prof. Motoike genuinely wants to help you pass the class and understand every lecture. He gives review sheets for quizzes and they're all multiple choice. If you miss the quiz he'll let you make it up in his office but its all written. He also responds to emails quick. Overall I think he's one of the best professors in the department.
Professor Motoike is the best Professor ever. He is kind, compassionate towards the students. He really cares for students and always works very hard for us. Please take his class, you will not regret it. I got a B because I kinda am lazy so I messed up few quizzes. He tells you exactly what to study and will only ask within the study guide.
Lecture: Quizzes Based on Lecture & Slides HEAVY; Gives practice quizzes and they HELP, DO THEM!; Attendance is mandatory; SELF-STUDY is ESSENTIAL; Textbook is very helpful, but not mandatory | Laboratory: Focus on memorization & understanding concepts; Quick grading and responsiveness; Provide clear guidance and support; no hw; got B because lazy
SCB203 is demanding & tons of work. No easy way thru. Motoike gives every opportunity to succeed IF you do the work. Quizzes are based only on his Lecture slides, learn them. Lab- go to Study Hall, tutors will prep you for everything. Do what he says, go to Practice exams, ask him for help, even if you need it weekly. Be on time, he hates tardiness
I'm telling you take TAKE THIS PROFESSOR AND U WON'T REGRET IT again U WON'T REGRET IT!!!!!! Thank me Later
He's the best! His lectures cover everything you need for quizzes and exams. He responds quickly to emails, and all materials are on the blackboard. It's not an easy class, but if work hard, you can succeed. Bad reviews are likely from students seeking an easy grade. I earned an A in the 6-week session. I highly recommend taking his class!
If it isnt a typo in his pp or just straight up WRONG info in his slides, or the excessive detailed lectures, its the fact that he's just reading off the slides or gives you contradictory information. He a VERY harsh grader and will deduct you points for spelling when HE HIMSELF MAKES MISTAKES ALL THE TIME. But hey at least he responds to emails.
A&P is hard, no matter the prof. 204 is demanding bc it has to be, learning anatomy is essential to treating patients. He makes the demands less hard. He's not easy but gives every opportunity to learn & succeed even if you have limited science background. 2 semesters with Motoike- he's your guy if you want to do well and actually learn something.
The one thing I like about him is that he is accessible even if you are not his student anymore.
A&P itself is tough but Professor Howard is not difficult at all. Read from his slides and study for lab exam from his study guide, everything is there! I took both scb203 and 204 in short session with him, never regret it!
He makes the course harder than it needs to be by expecting you to recall small unimportant details from the lecture for exams which isn't realistic. The only good thing is quizzes can be used as study material for the final exam as he tests on those same topics
Baits you into staying in his class by putting on the persona of a sweet old guy so you don't withdraw. However, grades are exclusively based on 5 exams with consistently >300 terms and
Yeah don't take. I'm telling u right now don't again don't take him. Stop listening these people on here telling u to take him. I took him to repeat my A&P1 literally my grade is even worse than before. I wish I had stuck to my c+ now I might end up with a D in his clsss.biggest mistake of my life I wonder if they will even let me repeat it again.
I took Motoike's LAB class. He's an amazing professor - he tells you what to expect on his exams and is always reachable thru email. He's great at explaining the material and even offers study guides! If you can get Motoike for lab, take him! Put in the work in study hall, STUDY HARD, and you can get an A with him !!!
A&P is tough, no matter who the prof is, SCB 203 can be demanding. But, Professor Motoike makes things manageable. He clearly outlines what will be covered in his quizzes, which helps a lot. He's also approachable & always asks if u need help, grading policy is straightforward, & if you follow his instructions carefully, you'll do well. Good luck!"
I'm telling you don't take this Professor. He tricks you into telling you that his tests are easy and they're not.
Don't take his class. His class is very tough. He has two types of tests, easy one and hard ones, he gives the easy ones to the students that he likes.
He swears up and down his test are straightforward. They are not. You have to comb through so much info its not even funny. He is a Type -A individual. The practical's can be good with him but you need to make him point everything out, he will confuse you. Oh and he's the chairman of the science department so go figure.
LEC ONLY:He really sets you up for success. Grades based on quizzes/mid term/final exam. He has PowerPoints ready w/ the specific material that will be on the quizzes, worksheets for each lecture so you can study/fill it in at home, & practice quizzes! All that's left is for you to truly put in time to study, he will answer all questions as well.
If you are taking A&P #1, please take it with professor Motoike!!! He is the absolute best. I don't have much of a science background, but he made the class so clear and interesting. To pass his exams, all you have to do is memorize his slides. He is very hands-on when it comes to preparing students for the lab bone and muscle practical exams too!!
Professor Motoike is hands down the best! Both A&P 203 and 204 were great with him. Yeah, he does two tests for each quiz, but it's just to keep things fair and stop people from copying, which I totally respect. Honestly, I learned so much with him—it was the best experience. You won't regret having him as a professor!
Hands down, one of the best professors LaGuardia has to offer. Professor Howard is very energetic and explains concepts in a way that is easy to grasp. He is approachable and always responsive to emails and concerns. When I had a scheduling conflict, he went out of his way to help me change classes. He truly sets his students up for success.
I had a really amazing experience taking this professor for both A&P part 1 and part 2. Professor Motoike is very organized and supportive of his students. Yes, there is no such thing as an easy A&P college course, but Professor Motoike provides us the most straightforward and clearest path to getting an A. He really loves his job and it showed!!!!
