His expectations for a novice at film to be able to analyze a film at his level are unrealistic. He is highly hypocritical when it comes to grammar. Further, he is an ego maniac. I cannot encourage a student MORE to NOT take this course. You will be miserable and you'll be lucky to receive a 'C.'

Rosenberg is one of my favorite professors. He is absolutely hilarious and entertaining.

He is an unmerciful, tough, stuck in his ways old man who enjoys openly critiquing other's work and does not care who he upsets or offends. And he does not care what you think about him. He is loud, obnoxious, rude, dramatic, and harsh. And you would be an idiot not to take his course.

Cool dude with an old school style and he picks good films to watch. Only two exams on films. I recommend his class for a Fine Arts credit and to learn about film.

He grades on quality, so if you aren't that great at art, I would choose a different class. He's really tough and there's a lot of critique in this class, as in he grades you as well as the other students. He's a funny guy, but it's a difficult class for someone like me who isn't good at art.

Howard is very interesting, but at the same time how he grades is beyond me. There is no real rubric for what he wants, he just says answer this a give proof to it. Now the proof is how you want to interpret what you are trying to convey, and if he don't like it, then you get marked down. Easy class but not sure what he wanted in his papers.

Howard Rosenberg is a man I have come to truly respect. He is the best teacher I have ever had. I completely sucked at art at the beginning of the semester. I gave it my all and he loved me, I'm pretty sure I'm in his will. If you are weak, a wimp, scared, expecting nice, and can't handle the truth then this class will help you grow a pair.

I was fortunate to be allowed to attend a day of his film class with my sister before I was old enough to attend UNR. I loved it! When I attended UNR, I took 3 different classes taught by Dr. Rosenberg. His insight enriches a class beyond the mere content of a book or film. My daughter will attend his class this fall semester. Highly reccomended!

He's is clearly passionate and knowledgeable about what he teaches, and he is very funny too. His class in interesting. However he can be extremely rude to his students including yelling at them and treating them like they are stupid for asking him basic questions. His behavior towards students got in the way of my enjoyment of the class.

Rosenburg is one of the worst teachers ive come across. No matter how much effort your put into this course, it will not matter unless you are gifted with creativity in regards to Rosenburg's liking. He doesnt post grades to track your progress throughout semester. Avoid taking his class if possible. Grades course like students are art majors.

This class was by far the most confusing hour of my life. He does not have any clear direction to his lectures and expects students the read his mind in order to do well on papers and journals. He accused our class of "just not getting it" multiple times throughout the semester. How are we supposed to "get it" with no direction? DO NOT TAKE EVER

If you are not passionate about art & dont need to take this specific class for your degree, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. He's very rude, doesn't post grades, and doesn't give info on syllabus so attendance is mandatory. if youre confident in your artistic vision and put in effort you should be fine but this isn't an easy A class

Professor Rosenberg was hilarious and an overall amazing guy. You arent really graded on a lot of things. Sometimes what he wants isnt all that clear though. Overall a great class.

Dr. Rosenberg is a great professor, but this is not a class for those looking for an easy A. Be prepared to spend a lot of time outside of class working on projects, but if you put in the work you'll get through just fine.

He told the class that we would get extra points if we turned our projects in early. Then for those of us who did turn in early, he changed his mind and told us all to rework our projects. He was rude and did not provide clarity about what his grading criteria were.
