I dont know if he is still teaching but he was one of the coolest teachers. Very friendly and helpfull. Could sleep in his class and he wouldn't wake me up! haha.

Howard is friendly, easy-going, and cracks the wittiest jokes. He could be a cool uncle in anyone's family. There are a lot of minor writing assignments and a couple major ones, but none requiring over 5 pages. Good class.

Howard is a great teacher. He is funny and gets you into learning about writing. Is an excellent teacher and is fun to talk to during class and around campus. He will help you! Take his class!

if anyone has to take this class, get him in the summer, he let us out like an hour and a half early and all we did was walk around the campus.

the class was not boring as you would expect a UNIV 100 class to be... he made it interesting and seemed like he really cared....made us feel like we could talk to him and come to him with questions....

His class was very fun. The discussion topics were acutally interesting and his presented material was very easy to follow. He is by far one of the best professors that I have had. He is very easy to talk to and wants all of his students to succeed.

Overall fun class. But he tends to grade hard on papers.

Great teacher, he made me improve my overall writing skills, I am now confident in my writing. He lets you revise the essays to improve your grade, and in the end they all accumulate to a good grade! He is a very nice, and approachable which is cool because he actually cares about his students.

i love howard. he's a great guy and prof. he isn't the easiest grader, but gives you many chances to improve. made my freshman year fun.

i did not know anything coming in to the class. Now i know so much thanks to him! I am going to try to get him again!

He was so nice and so helpful. I couldn't believe how much my writing improved after taking his class! If there is a way to get Howard I would definitely recommend it. He is very easy going and will really put in the extra effort to help any student!!

Everyone has to take this class so get Howard! He lets you out early everyday and doesn't care what you do in class as long as you show up. really nice guy

really great guy, made the class fun and interesting. really cared about us, didn't teach what he was supposed to but i feel that he was very good and taught us more real-life stuff than stupid crap about the history or education and stuff. he let us out early every day, no essays, final was 20 question mult-choice, really easy! def. take this guy.

EXTREMELY easy! Whoever said he's hard is a slacker. He is easy, laid-back, & r those teachers who talk & waste time in class. If u want 2 learn, don't take him. Honestly, I've never gotten a C grade before, so I'm a little bitter. He does allow rewrites and does everything possible to raise your grades up. Textbook is minimal. We did a lot of class discussion, most of which were very...weird. Honestly, it was an easy class, but I was never quite sure what the point was, or why we did things.

Great charasmatic Professor. Funny at times. His lectures are strange but this technique helps you find the roots to an essay and/or helps in essay revision. He does not critize your opinion or style of your paper. Gives possitive feedback on essays and comments back how essay could be improved. He makes assignemts more interesting.

Howard was the person who first taught me how to review my writing. It's a bit shocking when everyone gets a B, D, or D on the first essay, but you learn so much from doing the rewrite. Also took him for Technical Writing, where he really focuses on cutting out the crap in your writing. I agree with the person who wrote that Howard rocks!

howard was super nice! he's very helpful. class may lag a little because there's not as much to do. i actually wish we had more work to do to keep me doing more work in that class! trust me, there's not a lot of work, its very easy..but don't slack off! he's very understanding so really take advantage of the time you have with him.

Willison is so bomb!! He is really nice, lets us out early, and willing to help you no matter what. Even though UNIV100 is a pain to everyone, he made it enjoyable. Though most people will think I'm insane for saying this but I'm actually going to miss UNIV100. Willison is by far one of the best professors I've had. I HIGHLY recommend him.

We all have our opinions, but this teacher is very helpful, nice, and funny. He cracks jokes a lot and big time lakers fan. He teaches how to write better and how to organize essay and what not. Wish I had him the first time i took Eng1, I understand a whole lot now. All and all great teacher. You can show up to class late and he doesnt care!

He was a really chill professor!! Super nice and always let us out early. His assignments are super easy. His final is open book so there is no way you can fail his class (even if you didn't do any of the readings.) I highly recommend him for anyone who is looking for an easy "credit" for university 100.

Howard is super nice and his class is really enjoyable! We don't take a lot of notes and pretty much just discuss things and do work. He's really easy and definitely a good teacher.

I loved Howard, and I think my whole class did too. He is super nice and kind of reminds me of Jerry Seinfeld in the way that he makes really random jokes that actually end up being funny, and he laughs at himself with the goofiest laugh, which is super entertaining. Essay topics are pretty random, but you can easily get an A with rewrites.

he is such a wonderful teacher! i took this class during winter session, and i appreciated how laid back and easygoing he was. his expectations were very clear, and although there was a lot of writing required, he did allow us to revise to improve our grades. i learned a lot from him, and recommend him to anyone taking English 100!

Howard! is the Best! I started this class not caring like others but once you start getting back papers with a No PAss you start to worry, but he does this so you can try. Try his office hrs. he'll let you know exactly what to write.

He's a tough grader because he wants to make sure you realize what your writing abilities are and so you don't feel compelled to take really hard writing classes and fail there. He allows you to revise all papers except the first and last for a better grade. Laid back in class but you HAVE to show up to class, because he grades a little subjective.

Very nice teacher. Hard grader, got a C- on my 1st paper. A B- on my 2nd. Not sure what I got for my 3rd paper, including the 4th mini paper. But I did all of my revisions and gave it everything that I got. I hate grammar, but I tried my best to give my papers a lot of thoughts. I got an A in the class. =] So do those revisions!

Hard grader! Overall he is a fun professor who knows what he is talking about and makes you think in class. Got Cs and Ds on my papers but did the revisions and got away with a B in the class!

This class is some what easy. You usually never do anything in class except talk about different subjects. He makes you write about 4 big papers. Usually about 4-5pages long. He is a hard grader. A lot of people got a C- on the 1 essay.He allows you to revise the papers for a better grade. Most of the class got a B at semester. Very hard to an A.

this class was pretty easy, your grade is based on a few essays (which he lets you edit and re-turn in for a better grade) and a few in class/take home assignments. your midterm is an essay and the final is so easy that you don't even need to study. i recommend him! great professor.

He is a really hard grader. Doesn't base your grade on attendance or particpation or how many times you go to office hours. He grades you based on how well you write your essays. He is a nice professor and laid back but don't expect to get good grades on your essays the fist time around. Lets you return essays for a better grade.

I was a terrible writer at first but managed to improve to the point of writing "B" papers in the end. He is a hard grader, but with how much you learn and improve, it is negligible. I say MANDATORY for attendance because you will find yourself NOT WANTING TO SKIP CLASS. Howard is such an amazing prof, he's like one of your buddies. There are no exams. There is a writing assignment almost every week though, and it does get to be a bit much. Thought I was going to get a B & was completely okay with it because I felt like I actually learned something. Allows you to rewrite your first paper with plenty of good feedback. Def. put in a lot of work for this class.

Easy grader. Nicest, most relatable teacher out there. I would recommend his class to anyone who doesn't really enjoy a typical english class.

Professor Willison is an awesome professor. He's funny, tries to make his lectures as clear as possible, and extremely helpful. That being said, he is a REALLY tough grader. He gives you exactly the grade you deserve, which is most likely a C. It isn't a hard class to pass, but I put a lot of effort in and improved a lot. Still got a C.

Though he is a very tough grader, I would definitely take Willison again. He makes critical thinking fun and I have definitely grown as a writer while taking his class because of his feedback. There are no tests of any kind, just expect A LOT of analyzing text.

Prof Willison's class is as easy or hard as you make it. Lectures are very short, and he does assign many small assignments. 4 big essays, and no final. He may be seem laid back during lectures, but he is a tough grader on the essays. He will let you edit them for a higher grade. Put your effort into the essays, and you'll do fine.

Willison is a professor that grades you based on what you put in, it's that plain and simple. Turn in your assignments, and use the feedback he provides. He allows you to redo all the assignments for a higher score, which is your key to a good grade. You'll learn how to produce great technical documents rather than MLA/APA style essays. Recommended

Amazing professor! Probably my favorite lol. Lectures are clear and straightforward. The class is based on 8 short analysis papers, a couple quizzes and 2 big essays (all of which he allows you to revise.) He does grade a bit tough but the work isn't as hard as you expect. Just put in effort and you'll do fine.

Class consists of creating various types of tech documents (memo, abstract, proposal, etc.). Grading is understandably strict, but he allows one revision submission per paper. No midterms or final. I enjoyed making the documents and the class overall. Willison is a quality instructor and gives good feedback on papers.

Wonderful professor. His lectures are pretty casual and easy to follow, but it can get boring from time to time. There aren't any quizzes and exams, so your entire grade is based on your writing. He's a tough grader, but he does give really good feedback and allows you to do one revision per document. That's your chance to get an A.

Mr. Willison is a great guy. He makes class enjoyable with his humor. He randomly assigns pop quizzes but they're not too bad, you at least need to know the general idea and topics of what the readings are about (that the quizzes are based on). He does however give several writing assignments. Do fine on them, and the class should be a breeze.

Professor Willison is humorous and feeds off of the class, though I wouldn't say his lectures are mandatory, they are helpful when writing responses and papers. Like I had him for an 8am, but he said students could show up to earlier or later classes, just show up. The papers are difficult but you can actully see your papers getting better.

This class is an easy A. He grades tough, but let's you revise once and if you follow his feedback, you'll get an A on it. If you're unsure of your revision, just go into his office hours and he'll help make sure you get the grade you deserve. I strongly recommend turning stuff in on time; I got behind and it was a nightmare catching up.

His class is such a refresher compared to my other classes. I am so grateful for getting Willison as a professor. He discusses everything in detail, encourages questions and never undermines you. He is so chill and a great educator. The only thing negative I could say is that he goes for the Dodgers, but otherwise he is such an amazing person.

Professor Willison is a good professor. His class does require a lot of papers but hes very nice. On papers he is a tough grader but he gives second chances toward the end of the semester so take advantage of it. He sometimes cancels class when he feels like students need it. Easy quizzes, no test and the easiest final ever (its a group final).

Really really good professor. You will learn a lot and have to do a lot of assignments. They are by no means hard since he tells you everything he expects from you and outlines what the brochure, technical description, and other papers should look like. You have a chance to revise all your papers once for a better grade. Just do the work and listen

He grades very hard. The nice thing is he let's you revise each paper once for a chance to get a better grade. Follow the feedback he gives on each graded paper to increase your chances of getting a better grade. This class helped me get a lot better with using MS Word and the other features it has to offer. His lectures are for the homework.

Prof Willison is actually a tough grader but he only does that to encourage you to revise your papers. I got a C on both the essays but revised them both and ended with an A in the class. He sometimes gave quizzes on readings but it was a matter on whether you could memorize the headings. He also cancelled class when he felt we needed extra time.

ENG317 was a great class! I learned enough to feel confident in a business setting and the in-class exercises really help if you're like me and second-guess your grammar choices. Prof. Willison is a fair grader and I would've done better if I didn't miss class near the midterm. Show up, do the work, get an A. Don't be afraid to ask questions!

His lectures are different from others because he makes it a conversation with him and students that are actually interesting. During lectures, he encourages class participation, and as someone who is timid to speak up in front of people he made me comfortable to do so. There are soft deadlines but he is a tough grader with good feedback.

I am not the best writer, by any means. But, I am glad I took the class with Howard (he lets you say his name), b/c he does give you feedback on your papers, his instructions are clear, super nice. He also allows students to revise their papers and submit them before the end of the semester, which bumps up your grade. Highly recommend him.

He's an amazing professor. I hate writing, but technical communication with him was great. It allows you to express your creativity while improving in writing. He grades harshly, but gives great feedback to help you improve. Really great professor overall and very chill.

Very laid back and chill. All the deadlines are soft and he doesn't care too much about when you turn things in (just don't be extremely late on them). He assigns readings out of the book, but it isn't much at all and it comes with a fairly easy assignment.

Professor Willison is very laid-back, and his deadlines are soft. As long as you turn in your papers by the end of the semester with some effort, your grade will be fine. Sometimes his lectures are a bit on the dull side, though not always. The textbook is used, but I only had to skim it to complete the couple of quizzes and the assignment I had.

Prof. Willison is a GREAT teacher, very laid back and chill. He has soft deadlines for his assignments, but he GRADES HARD. I tried really hard to get an A on one of my papers but only got 80s/70s. Allows you tho revise them tho with his feedback. I like him, he's funny, I would only criticize his grading. Overall, had fun and got my B, not bad.

Prof Willison is the sweetest. He's really chill and laid back. I recommend starting your analysis papers ahead of time so you can revise then as he is a tough grader. I lack the writing essays skill, so a B was a surprise to me. You are graded on 5 different papers and 10 chapter quizzes, again JUST REVISE before turning in your work. Easy A or B!
