I don't know what these other people are talking about. If you go to class and pay attention, you can get an A on the midterm as I did. He makes the class fun and interactive, which is a nice change from the boring lectures that most of us are used to.

Please tell me how many professors bring candy and cookies to share with the class. Dr. Wineberg is a fun guy, I liked the class and if you read the book and show up for class you will have no problem getting a good grade.

He tries to be interactive which is nice. He's got an unusual sense of humor you can get used to. If you read the book and get first class notes, you will be fine.

Give him a break. His eccentricity challenges conventional beliefs at times. Did you pay thousands of dollars for an education that doesn't make you think about issues that challenge you and make you grow a little. I don't know if I learned much criminology, but I learned some things not in any text

Great professor!!! Holy, I would take this class again in a heartbeat. He was one of the most interesting guys I have ever met. Why say bad stuff? did you guys not go to class? cause that's the only way you would find his class boring. Talks about current issues and relates them to his class. He is wonderful. You are in luck if you take him.

wineberg has no opinions- it's all his cousins. the prof is amazing and great, very deviant himself in his manner of teaching which makes the class a refreshing break from the mundane life of rutgers.

nice guy who is anything but boring. he loves to tell stories and ties in current events with the readings. it is hard to get a bad grade in the class. not sure what some of these other people are thinking unless they just want the typical Rutgers professor. you definitely will learn things in this course.

i've heard some people are offended by him but you can't take what he says seriously, he's playing devil's advocate, sometimes it's hard to tell what his opinion really is, such as with abortion. class is so easy, don't need the book, just take notes on what he says. class is very entertaining for an 8:10am. He's great, I'd take him again for sure.

Good class, he's funny as hell and has a sick sense of humor, exams were easy, goes over chapters in class and tells you what to underline

Awesome professo/def take this class! Only 8:10 I actually attended,was interested, & stayed awake. (3 easy exams & 8 min presentation) He doesn't emphasize on book stuff likes to make you think. Highlight the book as he's talking thats exactly what's on the exam. He has no opinions it's all his cousins, he's hilarious, I would def take him again.

He is out of his mind, but you laugh alot, he is all over the place and talks about the most random topics for the first hour so he can make you think, then at the end, he skims over the book, highlight what he says in the book and that is the exam. Didn't mind going to this class at all, he was a good professor, very amusing.

This is a craziest but coolest and funniest teacher at rutgers seriously. This guy can make any uninteresting class interesting. He doesnt bs and gets to the point. TAKE HIS COURSES youll do well and love it.

HILARIOUS, def take him, really easy class and u spend an hour talking about random things, exams are so easy and 1 presentation is so easy if u dress up u will get a good grade. Awesome sense of humor, this is the only class I actually liked going to

He's the best! Easy exams, you can read OR go to class... and going to class is actually fun. he makes what could be boring, very interesting and he always has silly things to say

This guy is as awesome as the coffee he stirs all class! Which is pretty damn awesome. He's crazy and funny, and puts the stuff from the book into real-life context so it makes more sense. Exams are straight forward, and the semester project is no big sweat. Pick any topic, no need to go overboad, and he grades it easy.

i wish i could take every class with this guy. he is so funny in a wierd way, which makes it funnier. exams are short but fairly easy. class is basically just a big group discussion about whatever you want to talk about.

Criminology over the summer. Very funny guy. Has trouble staying on topic and bashes on everyone including students. Makes class interesting and fun. Tests are really easy because he'll give you everything you need right before each exam and they're also short. Rarely uses the book.

I'm shocked by all the bad remarks w/ this teacher...Did we even take the same class b/c I thought this was the easiest class I've ever had. I signed up for 2 more classes w/ Wineberg b/c I liked him so much. Tests take literally 20 minutes to complete. They're multiple choice, true/false, and really easy short answers.

People seem to think he's ****/biased/etc but he's playing devil's advocate, which I guess the complainers aren't used to; if you can't realize that he WANTS you to react to his statements to be an educated citizen, and not live with blinders on, then take someone else. Easy exams, too.

He's eccentric but not a bad class. He tells you exactly what to underline for the midterm and final, which are both very easy and short. The 6 page research paper isn't too bad if you have good sources. You must go to an AA meeting on your own and write a 2 page reaction. There is also an easy 10 minute presentation on any topic on alcohol.

I really like this professor. Yes, he does say some off the wall things but he's just playing devil's advocate. You have to be mature and realize he's just stimulating debate. He talks about current issues so class is never boring. If you're 20 and a hot-head, you may not like his teaching style. If you have some life experiences, you'll understand

Ohhh...I forgot to add his tests are easy...multiple choice, true and false...stuff like that. one 300 word paper and a short presentation. no long papers :) let's you know what's going to be on the exam.

Prof Wineberg takes a bit of getting used to...he likes to make provocative statements to get students' attention. He is open to debate, in fact that is what makes his classes interesting. If you don't participate, you will hate it. If you do participate, you might love it! The work is not hard. I would definitely take another class with him.

I actually really like Professor Wineberg. Half the class we talk about current events and issues that spark debates in the class and the other he tells us exactly what we need from the book. great and easy class. would definitely take him again

is actually not that bad of a professor but he reads mostly from the book. What he goes over in the book study, cause it will more then likely be on the exam..overall not that bad but no real academic stimulus lol

I know the person who made that last negative comment; they rarely attended class and was hoping for an effortless 'A'. Don't listen to the cynics; Dr. Weinberg is a knowledgeable and dedicated professor. Only guilty of using humor and controversy to incite debates relevant to sociology. Not hard to obtain an 'A' if you put in a mediocre effort.

Sociology of Alcohol. I love this professor. Any negative comments about him is by stuck up, individuals who believe in political correctness 24/7. Pro's, hes funny, he lets you out early, and he is not afraid to debate any topic. Cons, people get offended to easily because they take him too seriously. He is a great guy

Short papers, easy exams. Discussions could be funny at times, although I can see why some would be offended by the prof., but he's not such a bad guy.

Professor Wineberg for Social Problems 103 is a pretty easy professor. You spend more time debating current events, than doing actual book work. You have two non-cumulative exams, and a project, all which are pretty easy to do well on. Buy the textbook and bring a highlighter, and underline everything he says. GPA Booster, def. an easy A with him!!

This was an awesome and easy class..I got an A, highlight everything he tells you to in the book. This guys funny and easy. bring your laptop or do other work as I did and still got an A. EASY CLASS RECOMMEND IT.

Funny guy. He made Race Relations interesting. Be prepared for discussions. A few short papers and presentation are required. Would definitely take him again.

Easy class. Two exams one short paper and one short presentation.Professor likes participation. Go to class and talk and it is easy to get a good grade

He is so smart and you pick up on that throughout the semester with his input on certain situations. you NEED the book no matter what if you want to pass. I suggest underlining everything he says and rewriting into a notebook after each class so it is in one place. With he taught more classes in school bc he was great to have.
