She's nice enough BUT that won't help you stay awake. Endless busy work too.
She's nice, but too much H.W.( 375 class). Tests aren't hard if you read books
She is nice, however she is extremely diffcult to understand and she piles on the work; it seems like busy work and is repetitious from other classes we have had. I would not take Tung if I had the choice.
She is very difficult to understand and her lectures are really boring. She is a realyy difficult grader when it comes to the paper. I would not recommend taking her class.
So hard to understand. Very inconsistant grader. Tests are misrable. Hard to understand, both her speech and her wording of tests and assignments...On the Lit paper..write like ur talking to a 4th grader and you'll do great. I will never take her again! Nice person though.
DONT TAKE THIS TEACHER!! She is nice but hard to understand with her Chinese accent and she grades her paper hard. Take Prof. Gardner if you can!!! I had to retake the class. If you must take this class, don’t treat the paper lightly meet with her to go over it..
I unfrountaley took her TWICE once for 570 and again for 375a and everyone is right. She is incredibly hard to understand through that thick chinese accent. Yes she does PIle on the Homework a lot. Please do not take her.
I didn't understand one word she said all year. Her tests and assignments are impossible. She sits in class and reads you the text book. DONT TAKE HER PLEASE!!!! you will regret it and just end up having to take the class over again..
You know how teachers can turn you off of what you want to learn? Tung is the best example of this. You feel compassion for something and want to do good but that ONE teacher makes it impossible, this is Tung! You will have to repeat this class if you don't study like you only are taking ONE class! She's ridiculous!
I didn't have any problems with Prof.Tung. She was nice and extremely helpful throughout the semester. If you study hard for the exams you will get an A. I highly recommend her.
Prof. Tung is hard to understand at first. Test are very easy if you study the lectures. The class does drag on.
Tung is very hard to understand. Her comments are demeaning on tests and activities. The class drags, she's boring, you can't understand her. Read the book during lectures instead of listening to her, you will learn more this way. Stay until the end of class because she does group activities at the end.
Professor Tung is a good teacher. She is very kind and truly cares about her students. She provides the students with lecture notes from BB, so study those for the test and you will be fine. Sometimes she is a little hard to understand but, overall she just gets a bad rep. Don't fret taking her.
Worst teacher ever, grades paper very unfairly and the class is the most boring thing Ive ever had to go through, and I had her twice. She recites BB verbatim during lecture. Im begging you, save yourself the agony and take someone else, many have to repeat for a 2nd time.
the test is extremely hard, the APA paper must be perfect or you will go down a grad if otherwise.
Nothing against her personally but she should really not be teaching a college level course. I have worked with kids my entire life and I did all her rediculous assignments but I still didn't even pass. She is obsessive about details to the point where it is just frustrating and impossible! Also she really needs to work on her speaking.
in order to receive an A in the course you must make sure that you do every write-up perfectly. follow the directions and she likes detail. you can also go to her office and that will help to see what you need to improve on before you turn in the write-up.
Not too clear
VERY boring class. She is very hard to understand and she basically reads the textbook for you. She will spend 15 mins on one slide to explain absolutely nothing. Review sessions are not helpful and useless. She also does not answer questions that people ask during class. HORRIBLE TEACHER
This class was ok. Her lectures aren't really helpful. For being a one unit class her assignments were far too long. The first observation was 27 pages of pure repetition! She doesn't explain her assignments enough but her tests were really easy.
Try to avoid this professor for the upper division classes! Her lectures are extremely boring which makes going to class dreadful. Make sure when you write papers for her to be really careful with details or she will take away many points. Took her once for 375B and never again!
She is very knit-picky. Read directions carefully or you will lose points. Take advantage of the opportunity to turn your papers in early for feedback. Her tests have tricky questions, so know the material and don't overthink it.
Material for this class was really easy. The way she went about teaching us involved reading off the slides and random response papers at the end of class. She also would ask really redundant questions and no one would answer so she would break out the class roster and randomly call on people. 3 exams. 2 papers. easy class.
Such a boring teacher. The information is pretty easy to understand, so just buy the textbook and learn it by reading it. Go to class because she does in class responses. Missing one class can change your grade from an A- to a B+ (it happened to me). 2 midterms, one final, and 2 papers... not too terribly but I would avoid her
She is one of my favorite professors. I had her for both 270l and 275B.She is the most helpful teacher if you seek it- she actually cares about her students and wants them to succeed. just follow the directions and you will do fine- she lets you turn in papers early for feedback. She is one of the BEST teachers and is straightforward and also funny
The class material for this course is fairly easy. Make sure you attend every class because there are in class assignments and you can not receive an A without all the points. The papers are graded more on APA format than the actualy material. She is strict about detail and you will get a bad grade with a few APA mistakes. Tests are fair.
Took this course online. Very passionate and caring professor. Modules are easy to do. Exams are easy if you read and listen to her lectures. Essays are easy too, but picky with APA formatting. Other than that, I though I would have done so horrible in the class, but I did very well than I thought. Very interesting class; I kid you not.
She is very strict with her grammar, even though this is not a RWS class. She will pick at any little mistake, or what she thinks is a mistake and knock off points because she does not give out As. I would stay away from her at all costs.
Many students find her class to be difficult. If you want an A in the class, you truly have to work hard for it. She barely provides extra credit. She provides powerpoints of her lectures but don't think that it's enough. You still have to pay close attention and take good notes.
I'm a very honest rater. One of my favorite professors. She's very passionate about the subject. 3 detailed, written reports, the hardest part is observing the children. People are lazy that's why they complain, but her class is SIMPLE if you FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS COMPLETELY. Midterm and Final are a piece of cake, just read the powerpoints.
Dr. Tung is one of the most insentive teachers I have ever had! Her lectures were nothing but powerpoints and it was difficult to understand her at times. She gives 3 major observations and in class assignments, so you have to attend class. For a one unit class, its a nightmare!!
People complain so much. It is true that we have to deal with a lot of material, but this professor makes the topic extremely interesting. 3 exams, no final, one essay (talking about your development), a couple of class activities and 3 pop quizzes about the readings. I did not study for the exams, I got C,C and a B.
She's very sweet. Her class is easy if you take good lecture notes and study them a couple nights before. She does quick reviews of what's on the test. There are random group activities/pop quizzes so attendance is mandatory. You don't need to read the book to pass, but the book is needed for the term paper. Got an A- bc I didn't study as much.
I took both 270 and 270L and I think if I studied more I would have done better there is just a lot of material that she goes over so the tests get tricky, but her tests come from her power points. She is nice and will do her best to make you understand, but she is kind of hard.
It sucks that she is the only teacher for this class. If your want to get a decent grade, you must read the textbook because in lecture you do not receive enough information. Lab with her is the worse, you do work of a 4 unit class and it is only a 1 unit course.
When comes the exam, she "helps" us by going over every single powerpoint for that section. Not helpful at all because not everything is on the exam. Never tells us what exactly to study for. Lot's of work and effort needed to receive a good grade.
Very hard grading and test are not that easy. Slow on getting papers back. Have to go to class, because she'll do random quizzes or assignments. Very sweet lady, but hard to understand with her accent and it was just not an enjoyable class and it's my major. Lab work is INSANE for only 1 unit. I spent the most amount of time on it.
Gives out more work in 1 and 2 unit courses than most professors give out in a 3 unit class. Strict about attendance. Grades on APA usage in papers, not content. Tests are a bit tricky, so know the material well. Not an interesting lecturer, tough in grading, nice in person. Her class, among others, makes me hate CFD.
She speaks with a very strong accent and is difficult to understand at times. She is a tough grader and does not respond to emails quickly if you need help.
She is a very knowledgeable nice lady, just slightly hard to understand. You might be confused, and it is very boring, but its not terrible. The tests are pretty specific, so her powerpoints aren't enough. shes very broad
Modules every week that consisted of ~4 activities. Tests were slightly difficult. 2 papers. I followed the instructions to a T and she still have me a bad grade.Overall, a difficult teacher but there is no way to not take her. Do the best you can and email her/see her if you can. Class was not too difficult but she was.
Honestly, she is a sweet lady. Other than that, I would not take any class with her ever again unless I necessarily have to. Her lectures are boring and her papers focus more on APA format than content. She is the one professor that makes being a CFD major a struggle.
Honestly, if I could give her a worse rating, I would. She says she follows a strict APA format, but it isn't even the correct APA format. She's hard to understand and her lectures drag on forever. I am doing incredibly well in all my other CFD classes, but she is just a horrible professor. I hope I never have to take a class with her after this.
She is the hardest grader ever! Buy the book because you wont learn from her. She expects 15+ paged observations and no work is ever good enough for her. Would never take a class with her again.
I ONLY SIGNED UP TO REMIND ALL OF YOU THAT THIS IS COLLEGE! YOU ARE WORKING ON YOUR BACHELOR'S DEGREE!!! WHAT DO YOU EXPECT??? ONE-ON-ONE? UNIVERSITY PROFESSORS COME TO CLASS TO LECTURE. IT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO RETAIN THE INFORMATION BASED ON OUR OWN STUDY HABITS! DR. TUNG IS SUCH A HELPFUL PROFESSOR, BE MORE INVOLVED! IT IS NOT HER, IT IS YOU!
This class was a lot of work for 1 unit, but you only fail if you don't work for it. There are 3 observations and 2 exams (1 midterm and final, both are easy). You just have to follow the essay guidelines & READ THE NECESSARY CHAPTERS IN THE BOOK when studying! Don't do the essays the day before; it will literally take all night to do! Good luck :)
I've had Tung several times and this year she was amazing. She is adorable and will help you in anyway she can. You have to pay attention in class, and if you do you will score well on tests.
Her class is not an easy A, it requires effort. Texbook is required and attendence is somewhat mandatory. She does in-class activities & pop up quizzes worth points. She lets you make up one in-class activty. Her lectures (powerpoints) are based on the book & the book is easier to understad. There is one 5-6 paper & 3 tests.
Tung is a very sweet woman. She was very straight forward in lectures but not so much with observation assignments. Three observations and two tests. Obs. were between 12-21 pages long (for me) but fairly simple and not hard to do well on. Tests were a little harder and you definitely need to crack the book and notes for those. Overall not bad.
If theres any teacher that makes you work, it's Tung. A lot of people think they can take advantage of her, but she shuts it down quick. Her classes are very hard, but I have so much respect for her. She is very helpful and sweet and she turns you into a professional. Do the work (you probably wont pass the test) but you can pass the class
Professor Tung is one of the sweetest professors I have gotten the chance to get! She is understanding and very direct with what she wants for each assignment. She's a bit of a tough grader but if you go to her office hours, she basically lays out the entire paper. There were only 3 papers and the tests are super easy if you just show up to class.
AMAZING teacher. She is an incredibly hard worker and is always open to ideas on how to run things better in her classroom. She goes above and beyond to help her students. Introducing yourself is always a good idea with her (it means a lot to her too-I had her freshman year and she still knew my name senior year despite my being a quiet student).
I agree she is a very hard working teacher. But she expects wayyyyyyyy to much for a two unit class. A majority of the class failed our test and she said no one was prepared& we have over 80 people in our class. She doesn't give study guides at all and her tests are riduously in depth& nothing like her notes. I hope I never have to take her again
I had Dr. Tung for a previous class but she was just as amazing this time around. She helps when you need it, &will lay out a lot of what she's looking for if you just ask. She basically explained the entire textbook for the class and is very upfront with what you need to know! She's very lenient! The material in this class is much more difficult
I really struggled in her classes, she's difficult to understand and she's a super tough grader. especially in 270L- one thing i wish i did was go to her office hours before turning in observations- she's grades those really tough. be patient and know that you have to take this class and just try to get through it like we all did!
Professor Tung is a very nice woman. She is sweet and truly enjoys teaching. In this class there are 3 tests and 1 paper. It is very manageable. If you listen to her lectures and look over notes before tests you will do well. She grades the paper super easily as long as you are detail oriented and follow instructions. I never read the book.
I have never taken a class where the class average on a test was a D and she didn't care. She is a nice person when you talk to her but not a realistic teacher and hard to understand in lectures.
270 and 270 L are tough but if you work hard and follow her criteria you can get a good grade. Be ready to write long observations for 270 L that require a lot of effort and time. Make sure you follow her exact instructions and put a lot of detail. Tests are on lecture power points, don't read the textbook too much. Overall interesting classes.
Awsome professor! She really cares bout her field. In class group quick writes at least every other week and a few pop quizes. No books needed but in the lab there are 3 main observations that can be 12 to 18 pages long and require plenty of time. Honestly a great class that will make you think about life and have fun. Participation matters!!
Tung started off this class with the announcement that although it was only a 1 unit class, it would take more time than the average 3 unit class. Is that even allowed? There were 3 observations (papers) and 2 tests, the difficulty of them was not awful but many of the things she said contradicted what the textbook said making assignments difficult.
You will do well if you listen to what the professor has to say in lectures. Do not rely on book for information because it does not always correlate with her beliefs. Don't tell her this, she won't understand and will simply turn you away. English is her second language and she often makes incorrect grammar marks on assignments and then docs pts.
Very sweet lady and very knowledgeable. Easy to talk to and is always willing to help. She expects a lot of her students (it's college) but isn't overly hard. There's no homework, 3 tests and 1 term paper. Listen in class and read and you'll do fine, and paper is very clear on expectations. GO TO CLASS she does random attendance assignments
Observing in the children's center is probably the best part of the class, the 3 write-ups on the observations are long and tedious but not difficult. She grades tough but is very clear on what she expects. 2 tests but they're easy if you read and listen in lecture. Gives random participates assignments so make sure you go to class. Sweet lady
Tung's lab class is very easy, yet there is a lot of work. For a one unit class, it's a lot, but that's because of the lab reports. They are very easy, just very long. My first lab report was 20 pages long and took forever. Overall, this class was fine. There's 3 labs total, 2 tests (midterm and final), and then class participation points. So I would
Tung is a very sweet lady and really knows her stuff. Her class was not very hard and I enjoyed it. It was just a lot of tedious work and class points. Beware of pop quizzes. Tests are somewhat hard.
Tung is very sweet. CFD270: Beware of pop quizzes, this means reading, or at least skimming, the chapters for that day. She calls on students to answer questions a lot. Surprise written activities. 3 exams, 1 term paper. Not a hard class. Just study for the exams. CFD270L: Not an easy grader on observations. 3 observation assignments, 2 exams.
Professor Tung is a nice lady but this is not an easy class. There are pop quizzes regularly on textbook material and she doesn't grade very easily. The class is mostly just based off of her lectures and busy work, but the tests are difficult, so reading the textbook in depth is important.
She is a tough grader. She had some difficulty understanding a few questions in class throughout the semester. She gave broad lectures, but had specific and tricky tests in my opinion. The goal is to pick the best answer, not just the correct one. Black out info on your medical information that is not required in class, she did misplace my info.
I had Tung in my first two years of undergrad and disliked her course lectures and labs. However, her demeanor in upper division labs is different and much more improved. Dont let the reviews scare you from taking Tung as your Lab professor for upper divs. The labs and assignments are manageable. Show up, do your best, keep track of work.
I've taken Tung for CFD Lab requirements and sort of had a clue of what a harsh grader she was. In 375B you're required to attend class. She will know your name by the middle of the semester and will call you out randomly to answer questions. 3 Exams 50 questions each. she'l tell you to study for everything but the test only covers certain sections
Professor Tung is the worse teacher I have ever had. Her lectures are extremely heavy, and her exams are very tough. All she does is lecture, 2 essays, 3 exams worth 80 points, and pop quizzes/assignments in class. Her expectations are not clear, and she has a accent that can not be understood. Do not take her, if possible.
Extremely unreasonable expectations for a 1 unit class. Hard grader. DO NOT TAKE!!!! I suggest taking at a community college to fulfill this requirement.
The CFD 270 and 270L class were very challenging. Although Tung is a caring lady her lectures could feel long at times. She knows a lot about her content and tries to connect it to her personal life. The papers were graded very harshly and the 270L class had an overwhelming amount of work. I do like Tung, I just did not like her class.
Probably one of my fav professors at SDSU! Go to office hours and get to know her bc shes actually super sweet! A couple papers but shes not a hard grader shell probably take off one or two points bc she rarely gives full scores. Be ware of pop quizzes most test are from her lecture and her quizzes are from the book and lecture. Highly recommend!
one of the worst professors, she is a ridiculously tough grader for her level of teaching. I would try and take 270 at a community college. Her lectures for 270 and 270L are very vague so it's important to read the textbook for tests, however she lets her own personal views get in the way of the material. 270L was even worse, insane amount of work
do NOT take her, worst professor ever!! her classes are so pointless, she's such a harsh grader and not a good lecturer, way too much work for her lab which is a one unit class. DO NOT TAKE
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. If you have the chance to take it at a community college do it!!! Very caring professor but a very HARSH grader! She also give insane amount of work for CFD270L. Her test are almost impossible. Her choices are which of the all the following is the best answer.
There are 3 exams. The exams are not easy. There are 2 short papers but she is a tough grader. Grammar is important. Didn't like that she told us a D- was passing instead of how to get a better grade. I felt like I was failing the whole semester.
I've taken 378 C & D. The first time was a little confusing because you have to be VERY PRECISE WITH ALL PAPERS (Ex. head on intro letter has to be EXACTLY 1 INCH/ grammar) & small mistakes like that make a difference! Overall as long as you show up to meetings ON TIME, do your scheduled hours, and watch the other stuff I mentioned it's an easy A.
The worst teacher I've had at SDSU. I've taken three of her classes and have regretted it every time. She assigns way too much work for a 2 unit class and is an insanely harsh grader. Do yourself a favor and wait until a different professor is teaching the class.
I've been unfortunate enough to have Tung for 2 courses this semester, and 1 next semester because she's the ONLY professor for classes I need to stay on track. I worked my butt off to get a low C while taking 7 other classes. She requires way too much work for 1 unit classes, at least 5 papers each class. She's not clear in grading criteria at all
I wish we had more teachers to choose from for CFD than Tung. She is ridiculously hard, barely gives you time on tests and doesn't care what excuse you have if you happen to miss an assignment. In-person, she is nice however that doesn't make up for the fact that she is incredibly strict and there is no room for mistakes in this class. Be aware!
OMG. Definitely do not take her if you can avoid her. Super strict and not understanding at all. Her lectures and assignments are so boring and so difficult. Her grading to the point. If it is not EXACTLY how she wants it, you will lose points. I am an A, with a few B's, student, but her class is so specific that you are lucky to get a good grade.
Prof Tung is not a bad as everyone says she is. Although her lectures are extremely long & boring, she does give a lot of important info that is needed for her tests. Her 1 unit lab class on the other hand was one of the roughest class I taken this semester but she is clear on what she expect from your papers & observations practices! U will be ok!
Very hard graded and a large amount of work for only a 1 unit course.
She's really not as bad as everyone says she is, as long as you actually try on the Observation Exercises. 270 consists of a lot of lectures, quizzes, & 1 paper at the end of the semester. 270L's main objectives are 3 observation exercises, each about 11-20 pages long. 270L is a lot of work for a 1 unit class, but as long as you try, you'll do fine
Workload is excessive for a 1 unit. 3 reports 15-20 pgs long. 2 exams, not hard. Her lectures are good. In-class activities, u have about the last 3 minutes of class to complete, I didnt like that, they required time and I often missed points because I was rushed. A super kind professor tho, you will learn a lot from her because she truly cares.
I am a straight-A student taking biology, chemistry, and statistics and this class by far has been my biggest headache. Somehow Dr. Tung manages to turn a very easy class difficult. She is strict on attendance and marks points for very small things. Her tests in my opinion are not representative of the knowledge you have on the subject.
I have never had issues in a class until taking 270 with this professor. It is expected of us to show up with lecture notes already taken, leaving me empty minded during class time. Do not even get me started on the tests. When approaching her for help, she is rude and leaves no room for genuine human connection and understanding of situations.
She is awful. I have asked her questions a few different times and never got a straight answer or she completely avoided my question.
To some, her class may seem hard. Tests are based on lecture notes which it makes it easy if you just study it. Tests are in-person which some may find it difficult after being online for 2 years due to the pandemic. Attendance matters as we do group activities almost every class meeting. But overall, she's very nice and a caring teacher!
I was scared because of the reviews I read before taking the class but Dr Tung is really funny and sweet! The class has a lot of material and can seem kind of heavy sometimes but she does answer your questions if you have any. I had to miss some classes but I let her know beforehand and she was super nice about it.
Lectures move quickly & expects notes to be taken before class. You HAVE to keep up w/ lots of reading (textbook) in order to understand lectures. The quizzes are not based on the lectures they're based on the book. Group activities in class are easy but don't miss class or you'll lose points & your grade will be extremely affected.
If you actually take the time and listen to her lectures the exams are not going to be hard. Honestly do not listen to the other reviews given because they personally seem racially motivatedShe literally will give you slides to review for the upcoming exams. The paper is not hard because you are literally talking about your life
Listen to the reviews. Dr. Tung is a nice person but has too much work for a two-unit class. There were 2 6 page papers due and 3 exams (in person). She isn't really accommodating at all and you have to show proof for missing class and she takes attendance for credit.
She is very nice, but it seemed like a lot of work for a one-unit class! We had 3 observation activities, which took hours to finish, but she reads them and gives good feedback. For the final, I was concerned about a few concepts, but she reviewed them with me and it helped a lot. Although there was a lot of work, I would want to take her again.
Dr. Tung is kind but a TOUGH grader . She doesn't offer extra credit. She does not give enough time on exams. We had three exams, each worth 80 points, and had 50 minutes to complete. Had 14 KCA, each worth 5 points, and two papers one worth 35 points and another worth 60 points.
Dr. Tung is very specific about how she sets up her class. I absolutely loved her lab class tho. Being in C and being placed in an elementary school was awesome. You do have to attend 2 meetings with the whole class and some one-on-one with tung. Overall really easy and doable.
Run, don't even look at her class. There is way too much course knowledge for her exams to make any sense, constant reading that interfere with other classes and dont get me started on TopHat, you pay to do her classwork.
She only gives 3 tests and are not cumulative plus a paper. She also posts lecture PowerPoints and will highlight in red on what can be on a test. You will be required to purchase a book and TopHat that will help with taking attendance and pop quizzes to keep students engaged. Skim over the textbook before coming to class to be prepared.
The lab was graded on very few things but the projects were pretty time consuming. The lecture was very lecture heavy and had multiple pop quizzes throughout the class. The tests were pretty hard as they were more applicational and used small details she had only mentioned once in the class.
If you want academic freedom -this is not the class to take. Is clear about what she wants within her grading, and if you miss one little thing, be ready for your grade to drop a whole letter grade. When trying to communicate, did not want to reason. The 1 unit lab was added weight to the reg. course load itself. Says questionable things in lecture
EXCESSIVE amount of work for a 1 credit class. 3 observation papers that are generally 15-20 pages, STRICT with her grading. However, she does provide really good examples so you know how to set it up. 1 midterm and 1 final, wording is a bit tricky and questions are worth a lot of points, even missing 5 questions will show up as a very low C.
Do not take this class nor the lecture! The information and lab reports are non stop. She does not explain lectures or questions on a test very well. I am dropping my minor because the grade I got in this class is not worth the stress I had to go through.
very caring a nice person with straight-forward lectures, but 270L took up most of my homework time with the observation reports. I spent several hours on each one, and they're very tedious. too much work for one unit. 270 itself is easy enough as long as you keep up with the readings (there will be pop-quizzes) and you study well.
This was my third class with Tung. She gets nicer as she sees you are making it through the major but her tests are just as hard. She is so strict on attendance and does not understand that life happens. Will press you for proof if you have to be gone for something, she only lets you be absent on medical. Still have to be on zoom if out.
Such a hard grader and will not help you when you ask for advice on how to make papers stronger. There is also very few assignments in the class so if you mess up on one it is nearly impossible to catch back up.
Cares WAYY too much about attendance. Honestly very boring lectures which have pop quizzes about things she only mentioned once or twice. Tough grader and does not hold back when giving criticism; rude. Assigns 3 major projects back to back, which are just way too much work (minimum 15 pgs.) I do NOT recommend taking her class.
Boring lectures and attendance is mandatory. Pop quizzes which really affect your grade. Tests over information she highlights on the "study guide" she gives you so tests were lowkey easy if you read over the study guide. Overall easy class just really boring and the pop quizzes almost messed me up, so read the textbook if you want, I didn't.
Lectures are insanely boring and hard to sit through and your attendance is graded on random pop quizzes. There are 3 exams and a term paper, and attendance is mandatory. You will have to get Tophat, and a textbook is "required" but not entirely necessary. She reads off of the slides and I did not learn much from her class.
There are 2 exams and 3 papers (observation exercises). These papers are tedious, take days to complete, and will end up being around 14 pages each time. Textbook is mandatory and lectures are insanely boring and hard to sit through. Participation is graded through random in-class activities. Didn't learn in this class.
Attendence was so mandatory, had to have a doctors note written every time you were absent or it would significantly drop your grade (sdsu doesnt even write doctors notes so you had to go to an actual clinic to get a note). Very harsh grader with high standards. three 15 page papers due. I had the most work for this class and it was only 1 credit.
Ok, I know the reviews are scary, but don't be afraid her. She is genuinely the sweetest woman ever and if you know how to succeed in her class you will be just fine. She has extremely clear grading criteria and spells out how she wants things done. You must attend class/ take good notes b/c her tests are directly from her notes and the textbook.
Took her for 270 and 270L and can say she is not a good teacher. Her observations for 270L are ridiculously long for it being a one unit class and her lecture class is boring with long lectures and pop quizzes that will take a hit on your grade. She asks to "speak to you after class" if you're even the slightest bit late and she does too much. 0/10
Yes attendance is mandatory, but thats because she makes it so reading the textbook isnt fully necessary because the lectures are so informative. She makes the class engaging and is actually so sweet. You simply have to show up. There is only one paper due the whole semester and there is no other homework. Would definitely recommend.
If you take her CFD270L prepare for the observation papers they are significantly long and only for a 1 unit grade thats crazy .
No matter the amount of effort you put in the class, your grade will not represent it. All she does is read off the slides, and there are only three exams and pop quizzes in CFD 270 that will make or break your grade. In the lab, there is 3 papers with around 14 pages each....LITERALLY SO MUCH WORK FOR ONE UNIT. The lectures are so boring!
The class is time-consuming for 1 credit, with mandatory attendance (she drops one). There are 3 observation exercises given 2/3 weeks in advance, so don't procrastinate. Effort pays off, I got all As on them. There are 2 tests, and in-class activities. This class can feel overwhelming but yall can do it. She's at least caring and kind though.
Attendance is mandatory (she drops one). Pop can quizzes hurt your grade, so review lecture slides or read the textbook. There are 3 exams almost exactly like the lecture slides, 1 term paper assigned early (don't procrastinate), and in-class activities. She is kind and caring though despite how difficult the class may be, just study/pay attention.
Professor can be strict, but provides helpful examples and feedback. Lots of work for a 1-credit class. Attendance is mandatory. Used unstuck ai to prep for the tricky exams - a big time-saver! Overall, a challenging yet rewarding course.
She does random pop quizzes in her cfd270 classes so pay attention in lectures. We did many group activities in both classes. The observation exercises in the 270L lab classes took forever. Although the work is easy, it is a LOT and it is tedious. She is available if you need help & gives good feedback. She is a nice lady but she is a strict grader
I personally really enjoyed having her as a professor! You definitely need to do the readings and put lots of effort and time into studying! She has a passion for cfd and I think she has a lot of great information to share! As long as you study and pay attention in class, you will be good!
This is honestly one of the worst classes I have taken in my entire life. As someone who has never received anything less than an A here at San Diego State, I am so shocked that there are professors who enjoy grading this harshly. Especially for a course that is considered a prerequisite to get into the CFD major/minor. I recommend switching majors
despite the harsh ratings, her class isn't as hard as it seems. there's no homework, only chapter readings. one term paper is assigned with plenty of time to do, and some in-class quizzes that have 6 questions, which are fair. she uses the roster to call on students randomly but doesn't pressure you if you're unsure or wrong.
I personally enjoyed having Dr. Tung, she is very knowledgeable and willing to help. There are 3 tests and 1 term paper. The assigned readings can be helpful, but not necessary to pass the class. Going to every class helped with knowing the information better. Honestly it was a very average class. Don't be scared of the negative reviews.
3 observation papers that take a nice amount of time. It seems scary that each paper is about 10-15 pgs long, but it's not as bad if you split it up. 2 of them used YouTube videos and the 3rd was in person. It is a nice amount of work, but it's a very valuable class. There are also 2 tests and in class assignments
Insane. Would never recommend this class to anyone. If you enjoy reading textbooks a lot this class is for you. There is no homework which can be really difficult because your grade is based on tests/pop quizzes. You can't skip or it'll effect you. I usually don't struggle in classes but this one was very different.
The content and feedback from this class are very valuable, and the assignments are doable with time management. I rated Prof Tung this way because at times, it feels like she lacks empathy for her students. Every time a student is late, they're asked to stay behind in front of every student in class. There is little flexibility.
Don't let other people scare you. Her class isn't easy, but she is a very sweet teacher & her lectures were entertaining & her grading is fair. Attendance is mandatory for points but she drops 1. She takes attendance after 5mins & sometimes there are pop quizzes at the end of class. It's 6 questions & usually on what she just talked about.
Professor Chen is clearly knowledgeable, but shows little respect or care for students. She will publicly call students out for minor things like being a few minutes late. Office hours are unhelpful and often involve criticism and comparisons to other students. She is the only option for some courses, so be prepared.
There are fantastic professors at SDSU that care about students & their welfare, there are also average professors, which is to be expected. Then there's Professor Tung, someone who has detached herself from reality, creates difficult scenarios for her class, & doesn't respect the time & effort with regards to travel around the holidays.
