I'm the first to write, about her...!YEAH! No but seriously, shes tough, expect to do some work in this class. Although she completely changed her teaching style this sem. (sprng 07), It will still be a hard course. Ultimately I think 25% dropped and another 25 failed...
I love Professor Ni! She is very entertaining and makes what would normally be really tedious, annoying work into something somewhat fun. She has a little bit of an accent but that doesn't stop her from explaining the material well. Highly recommended!
Class is pretty difficult. At the end of class, she has you work out a practice problem and then turn it in. She is a bit hard to understand. Grades VERY hard...need to attend class to stay on top of things.
HORRIBLE,HORRIBLE teahcer. DO not take. You cannot understand her. She doesn't speak English well at all. So she shouldn't be teaching-OBVIOUSLY. Even her handout notes are unorganized and hard to read/understand due to her horible grammer. DO NOT TAKE HER!
She is difficult to understand so this may create difficulties. She gives pre test that somwhat help but she grades hard on tests. Overall her grading system was pretty fair on your final grade. I had to go for tutoring most of the semester to figure out what was going on.If she spoke better English it would have been much better.
If you dont know how to speak Chinese, i highly recommend to take this class from another proffesor.
She is heavily accented but it doesnt interfer too badly with the material she presents. Spends tons of time reworking problems till everyone gets information. Only 2 out of 4 exams count and if you try hard early on you can walk out mid semester with an A
Great teacher! One of the hardest clases is ECON 2300, however, she does a great job with it. Best 2 out of 4 test make up your grade. Show up for every class, do your homework, and listen in class and walk away with a B mid-semester. That's what I did.
Great professor! Makes very difficult material easy. The class is hard but she allows you to use a cheat sheet on all tests. If you attend class, ask questions, and spend some serious time on your cheat sheet you can make an A in this class. Seriously, I did not have to do the HW but instead spent a lot of time on my cheat sheet & got my A.
Although a little hard to understand until you get used to her accent, she is an excelent professor. She explains hard things easily and doesn't move on until everyone understands! Mosy caring professor I have ever taken!
If you take prof. Ni, you wont be sorry. She is a little hard to understand at first, but after about a week its no problem. She is very funny and her accent just enhances that. Wants everybody to succeed and makes sure everyone understand before continuing. Material is hard cuz the class is hard. I wish I could take her for more classes!
I would definitely recommend this prof. She made difficult material very easy to understand. If you are satisfied with your grade, you don't have to take the final. Also, she gives a formula list on each test. She also puts a 5 point extra credit question on each test that is usually pretty easy.
Great Prof. Gives clear procedures/steps to follow for all problems. Very helpful if you don't understand. Easy bonus problem (double-points) is given on a test for good attendance. Final in Summer is mandatory. Very slight Chinese (?) accent. Great sense of humor. I honestly loved her classes. She is is a great teacher.
Professor Ni was great; she can be extremely intimidating at first. The class is a bit difficult, but she lays out what is expected of you very clearly, if you do your part, the class can be pretty easy. I would definitely take her again, learned a lot!
It was bad...
Don't miss a single class or you'll fall behind. Print the notes before every class because that's what she uses to teach. Hmwrk problems come from back of the book. Tests are difficult if you don't study. **Easiest way to get an A on every test is to reprint the notes and work out problems without references. No way to cheat in this class.
Hard class. She can be hard to understand sometimes but you can figure her out. VERY HELPFUL! Recommend not missing class EVER, doing the homework, and studying material after class. Dont give up. got a 54 on the first test, 61 on 2nd test and an 86 on the cumulative final. still got a b in the class. i would take her again
She is very rude she talk down to her students. The first day of class I told her I wasn't to get an A and she just laugh at me. look somewhere else.
People are giving her a bad rep but she is not a bad teacher. The class is tough and she does have an accent but if you can't understand her then YOU are the one who doesn't speak English. She's very thorough and fair.
Awesome Professor. If you don't do well it is 100% your fault with all the help she gives and the clarity with which she explains topics in class. Print the lecture notes and bring them to class. Easy A if you study for tests.
If you are looking for an easy A this is NOT your teacher. Even she says its hard to get an A in her class. You WILL work! The homeworks take forever but are well worth the time. Nothing surprising on her tests, but she counts off for every little thing. Is very willing to help anyone and doesn't give extraneous work. Got B but had to work for it.
Stern. Stern but fair. That is the best way to describe professor Ni. Very good teacher, knows her stuff very well. Also is very strict and wont let you get by with anything. Think of your typical strict Asian parent. If you do the work, you can get an A. Just keep up. Have to sign attendance sheet EVERY class.
This teacher was one of the worst I have had. Very difficult to understand because of her accent and made problems much harder than they need to be. I had her for a summer course which went quickly but I had prior experience in this class. Her handout were unorganized and was a tough grader. Would not take her again
Hardest Business Stats teacher at KSU. She's nice and very thorough but she requires the most work and is the strictest grading professor for this class. Her tests are extremely difficult and she goes into more detail than the other stats professors. Failed her and took it with another professor and got an A. The classes were day and night.
Hardest teacher i have taken so far. she def. knows her stuff but her tests are extremely hard and she grades them even harder.. 14 ppl were still not finished with our 2nd test when we ran out of time. Takes attendance every day and if you miss a certain # of classes you drop a letter grade. She can be intimidating but means well and is nice
An excellent instructor of a difficult subject. She knows material and is willing to explain as much as necessary so that everyone understands. She's available outside of class to assist students needing more help. She has an accent, but is easy to understand. No need for the book. Tests from outline & class notes. Don't miss class & you'll do well.
I took professor Ni during the 8 week summer semester & I completely failed the first test, but I ended up passing the class with a B. the class was composed of 3 test, half multiple choice, half fill in the blank. No book needed just make sure you print her notes before every class. She's a great professor who really cares. Attendance is mandatory
Professor Ni is a jewel of an instructor! She does have an accent, but if you pay attention she is easy to understand. The book is not necessary. You should print all of the notes and practice problems. Do the practice as you go, and do it again before the tests. Go to her office hours to show you're trying, and study. You'll be fine!
Good professor and very helpful. Stats is just a beast of a subject. No textbook needed. The only reason not to take her is if you don't like having just three tests. One bad day could affect your overall grade.
Professor Ni rocks! This is a super hard subject and she teaches it well! She won't stop until you get it. She will use different ways to explain it so that it makes sense to you. Tests are hard and sometimes tricky. Never mind her accent. You can understand 100% of what she says. Students that miss a class will definitely be lost.
Really hard teacher. She is a tough grader. Grade consist only 3 exams thats it. Tests R hard no joke. You do bad in one & no A 4 sure. I dropped her because i found better teachers here at KSU & got an A. Her accent & notes are difficult to understand. I do not recommend her.
She is a genious, no doubt, but seems to forget about us little people. Tests seem to be like a surprise and you don't know what to expect at all, and her method of teaching the class could use some tweaking to make sure everyone learns the most important things. She goes too fast with the material. Do not ignore her advices on first day of class.
You cannot understand a word she says and it also doesn't help that she has the handwriting of a 4 year old. DO not take if you want to actually pass
This professor is great! The people complaining about how hard she is are the ones who do not go to class. Go to class and study once a week over material and you will definitely pass class. Skip class, and you WILL fail. The class is a hard class in general due to material, do not blame teacher. If you have a good work ethic then take this class!
You will have only 3 tests with this instructor: No quizzes, no homework , no projects. Tests are tough, every test should be 2 hours long for the many exercises she gives but she gives only 75 min long. There are not time to check your answers. The first average test was 61 and the second average test was 55 in all the class.
I went to every single class, I made notes, I asked questions during class, also I studied like crazy before every single test and I did not pass the class. Thoughts instructor I ever had. I saw a couples of reviews in which people gave to this instructor excellent reviews and honestly I do not think those reviews are posted by students.
Tough grader and her test are extremely tough.I don't recommend this instructor!
Her accent is thick, but she couldn't be more clear when it comes to statistics. She starts the semester saying how hard the material is and I truly believed her. But her teaching style is perfect to help understand a difficult topic. She truly cares about your success and makes sure you've got it before she moves on. Would definitely take again.
I really like Professor Ni. She cares about her students. Her exams are hard but hey its Econ now what do you except? You need to know the materials right? If you do revise whatever she tells you to, you will do good. She is willing to help anytime. She also rewards extra points if you attend all her class. Revise your class notes you'll do good.
She gives 3 tough test during all the semester and that is it! -No homework or quizzes. She is a though grader . It is hard to learn in her classes-you will have to study by your own.
3 tough tests. You can't miss her classes because attendance is mandatory.
Probably the least inspiring teacher I've ever encountered. Dropped her after a couple weeks because she is completely demoralizing and completely goes against everything a teacher should be. She only has a job because the school needs a tough course for students to enter the business school. Bad hand writing, doesn't speak English well.
3 Test in all the semester.... They are extremely tough! I do NOT recommend this instructor.
This class is very difficult. Three test grades make up your entire grade. The tests are extremely difficult, and you basically need to memorize the notes word for word. The practice doesn't really help. Like others have said, her handwriting is terrible and it feels like she is yelling at you in class. Would take another professor.
I cant believe that this lady is allowed to teach such a class. Let me start off by saying that she doesn't speak even the most average english and on top of that she writes in chicken scratches. Which is so frustrating. She gives extra credit but if you make 1 error it will not be excepted, so good luck wasting your time!
You better understand the material, especially the central limit theorem, what a sampling distribution is exactly, and how sample size, confidence intervals, and standard deviation and error are all related, and have absolutely mastered the practice worksheets. During tests, you have absolutely no time to think and must knock them out quickly.
She's one of the best professors I've had at KSU. She's tough, makes you work, and the class is difficult. But, if you listen to her and do your work, study, and do the practice, it's really just a matter of small simple mistakes in calculations that will make or break you in the class. She has an accent, but It never affected my understanding.
Definitely not an easy class, but she's a fantastic teacher! She'll tell you day one that 'This is a hard class, you will not pass if you don't put in the effort." If I have a chance to take her again I definitely will. ** Make sure you see her in during her office ours **
Huan Ni is probably one of the toughest professors I've had so far. Business Statistics is a VERY difficult class but she is probably the most honest and fair teacher I've had. She will make you earn your grade and is a fair grader. I highly respect her and I would probably take her class again just to challenge myself. Very understanding overall.
Business Stats is a tough class. She says it from the get go that you'll need to work hard to get a good grade. With that being said, she is also very fair and very helpful. She made me feel like she was concerned about my grade. The class was a bit curved (75+ for B and 87+ for an A). Gives great study material throughout the semester.
Extremely good. Not an easy A. Attendance not required. I recommend going to class if you take her. About 8 pop quizzes (each approx a week after a finished chapter) that add +1 to final grade. Clear on grading. 3 tests including final (not cumulative), all 33% of final grade. Would take again. Book not required, but I bought it and never opened it
Prepare yourself. She is a great teacher but the Bus Stat class is tough material. She made it very clear that it was very difficult and you have to work to grasp the material. She was clear in her lectures and tested directly from her notes. She is very fair.
Probably the worst professor I've ever taken. Her tests are half MC and written problems. The material is hard but she makes it even harder by the way she explains it. There seems to always be a "surprise" on her tests so be warned. The only positive from this class is that its slightly curved 77B 89A, but that is it. Avoid at all costs.
I have taken her before for 2300 and got an A, but her 3300 course was very hard. Her 3300 class requires a lot of effort to just pass let alone get an A. She did not have worksheets for a majority of chapters like does for 2300. The practice problem in the book were confusing and I did better by not doing them. Good Prof but hard course.
Definitely a tough grader who makes you work for her class. A main downside is that her accent is often impossible to understand. Asked my friends from China to sit in and they also could not understand her well. She writes quite poorly and moves quickly through material. If statistics and math do not come naturally, I do not recommend this class.
She says day one that these reviews are accurate. I will have to say that they are pretty accurate. She makes the class harder than it probably needs to be but at the same time it probably helped me to better understand the material. She is willing to help anyone if they need it and if you do the homework and practice you will be fine.
I loved Prof. Ni - this was my second time taking this class and I got a B. The class is difficult and she really wants her students to understand the material. Take advantage of her office hours and I def recommend tutoring. You will have to do outside work if you want to get a B or higher. DONT BE LAZY & DONT PROCRASTINATE!!
SHe told me if you haven't been doing the practices and reading your notes after every class, which mine was from 9:30pm-10:45pm, then you are probably going to fail. Three in class tests. one take home Excel test. She gives you 48 hours for that one. One test is given before withdraw Without Fail ends. Kinda funny, but she is hard to understand.
The course is hard but she does a great job teaching it. It does take effort to learn the material, but she will work hard to help you. Her accent isn't hard to understand if you are paying attention, and she's hilarious. Easily one of the best professors that I've had, and I'm glad I took her for this class!
It was a big mistake taking this class so late I had the 9:30pm class. From the first week she said if you work full time you will not get A and she was absolutely right. Her handwriting is hard to understand and you must pay attention otherwise YOU WILL FAIL. She is funny and would joke around with us but not a easy A, class size dropped to 18.
I made a huge mistake by taking her 11am Saturday class, which involved nearly 3 hours of a very fast paced lecture. It is difficult to understand and keep up with her lectures. In order to pass her class you have to constantly study the chapter notes and do the practices (all posted in d2l).
Her tests are hard as long as you don't go to class. SO GO TO CLASS! if you do her practice test sets its an easy A. Ignore other comments. She's great and caring.
Class was made up of 3 tests. The class average for EVERY test was failing. Extremely tough grader with even tougher tests. Few options at the very end of the semester to help people raise their grades up. Highest test score was a 76.
Great teacher, very clearly goes over all of the information needed to pass her tests. I mean she literally goes over what will be on the test and then does examples. She is not difficult although some may find the class itself difficult. I will say she is a tough grader. Counts off for seemingly insignificant mistakes but she gives partial credit.
Definitely not an easy class. However, she pays attention to who puts in the effort. She preaches doing the practice problems, which are similar to the test questions, so there are not really any surprises on the test if you've done them . This class is not an easy A, but if you put in the effort, you will do fine.
Best teacher for econ 2300 The material is tough, but she explain very well and curves. Easily the best professor. It may be a saturdayy class, but it is well worth the effort.
This class is way easier than Econ 2200. There are three tests and then a take home test which make up all of your grade. If you attend the class you have chances at extra credit. She is an amazing teacher and wants you to learn.
Very tough class, but Professor Ni does a good job at trying to explain the material. 3 exams. Gives homework weekly, but it's worth 30 percent and will save your grade. I failed every test but passed the class because of homework. No book needed. Attendance isn't required but you will fail if you don't show up. A is 89+, B is 77-89, and C is 64-77
As long as you show up to most classes, get the notes from d2l on ones you missed, and ask questions, this is an easy class (I'm terrible at math). First test is the hardest and only because of Ch4. Write with her as she talks because her handwriting is difficult. She gives extra credit only when the class engages with her during lectures!
She is very unprofessional. I do not recommend taking her for this course! She makes it extremely hard to pass and her lectures are very unclear.
She is a good teacher but makes achieving a good grade much harder than other professors. Generous with bonus points if you show up. She scares you into thinking the material is crazy difficult, I highly encourage using outside resources to help in studying this stuff.
By far the worst professor Ive had at KSU. I put in the work, came to every class and asked questions in class and she was not willing to help. She teaches way too fast and its a difficult class. If you have the chance to take someone else, I would definitely do so. You have to show up to get the attendance points at the end.
She moves fast and is not the type to take excuses. She believes in hard work and is a firm believer in putting in the work to get the grade you want. That being said, there is little room for understanding. Also, she reminds me of a female version of Mr. Miyagi. In summation, the class was based on 3 test grades and attendance. Go to class.
Graded on 3 tests. 64 is a C, 77 is a B, 89 is an A. She gives opportunities for extra credit including 3 points on your final grade in the class if you attend 90% of the days.
Dont be fooled by the bad reviews. Shes an excellent professor. If you care about your education, please take her. She explains everything in detail. One thing though, this class is HARD. My advice for this class? Do not miss any lectures, do her practice problems and you will get an A. Looking forward to take her for ECON 3300.
I think she is a great professor, but this class is extremely hard. you definitely have to work for your grade and study extensively but she gives you everything you need in order to pass. she takes attendance but only to see who is coming to class and deserves bonus points at the end of the semester, it doesnt affect your grade if you don't go
Ignore the bad reviews. Those are just students who got used to easy professors that hand students A's. This professor is awesome. She's extremely honest and will require you to work for your grade. Attend 90% of classes and she adds a couple of points to your entire average in the class! Do the practices for her exams and you WILL pass!
If you like easy then you won't like her. She makes you work for your grade. She is also going to be on top of you with her motivational speeches. I enjoy the way she runs her classroom. She doesn't only teach statistics, but discipline. She does not require class participation but gives bonus points for doing so. She encourages engagement.
Very knowledgeable, but not of good professor. Would not answer questions concerning homework or any material other than was she was doing at that moment, was too rushed to get through her material. Would tell you to make a appointment during her limited office hours. I had a class during those times. She taught one way and could be bother....
Prof. Ni is awful, condescending, and lacks compassion. She is not willing to chat or meet virtually during a pandemic/closure of the school. None of us have a way of asking her questions face to face? Some of us need a verbal explanation to understand these mathematical concepts! Never met a prof not willing to help students with questions.
I knew this class was going to be hard especially with the pandemic, but she makes it more stressful. She only teaches one way, doesn't explain information in detail, and doesn't answer questions. The only grades are three tests which are difficult. Save yourself the headache and don't take her.
Terrible professor, do not recommend at all. The notes and practice questions do not help with the test. The scanned notes are terrible you cannot read her handwriting. She did everything in her power to make this class difficult even though ECON 2300 is hard as is. Just do not do it.
Took her class online. 3 Exams only. No Homework. No Quizzes. She had video notes that were extremely hard to read and understand. A large portion of the class failed the first exam and she didn't curve. She literally gave 3 bonus points to those who passed ONLY. She wants you to fail. She made the second exam harder because we weren't trying.
This class is graded solely on 3 tests which we had to study for using the professors handwritten notes, these notes where illegible and did not prepare me or my classmates for the exam as many including myself where forced to drop this class. She was uncompromising when we reached out to her about exams. I would definitely recommend against her.
She was actually very open to helping students if they ask, I recommend taking advantage of that. Only chose her because I registered late so def not my top choice. It's a very hard class, so study. I didn't and have to retake this summer. I would probably take someone else considering it is only 3 tests. With a subject this hard, you want more.
If you want to make a good grade do NOT take this teacher. She will yell at your class about your grades and is very rude. Her hand writing is very hard to read and the test are nothing like the practices or lectures.
All open ended test questions. Lots of formulas. Harder then Calc 1
I ended up retaking ECON2300 this summer after failing her class, got an A+ with another professor. After taking the other class with a different professor, I realize she made things unnecessary difficult. Hard pass from me, take someone else. Save your energy.
Very time consuming class for studying and she makes sure youre aware of it. multiple choice on study guide are basically the same on tests. If you make an effort in class and do any optional work she will notice it and help you at the end of the semester. If you are lazy she isnt an option for you
Do not take this professor unless you are ready to show up to class every day and focus. She does not grade attendance, but you will fail if you don't go to class. Her tests are extremely difficult and she does not provide you with any kind of study guide. She does not post any answers to practice questions. she is very difficult to understand.
Your grade depends on three tests and an excel test. Not much homework, but if you don't attempt the practice questions and take good notes in class, you will fail. I did better on the last two tests once I adapted to her teaching style. She gives extra points for attendance if you show up enough. She was also generous with my final grade.
pleases avoid this professor
Avoid her. She purposefully leaves her notes mostly blank to incentives you to be in class. The problem with that is she talks and moves on fast and has terrible handwriting. Leaving you to committing more to either listening to what she is saying or taking notes since doing both is difficult. Her entire class is determined on 3 Tests.
This was just not it. Do yourself a favor, and pick someone else.
This class is not difficult. Professor Huan Ni is not a factor in the grade you will receive. Focus on the content, come to class or use the textbook. I would say if you only use the textbook expect a C, if you go to class expect a B, and if you just truly understand the content expect an A. Huan Ni is a great professor.
This class is supposed to be the hardest class for business majors, and I think most would agree. She is very loud and harsh, but she does care for her students to learn. The class seems impossible and you definitely need to do a lot of studying, but she honestly grades super easy. There are three tests and a variety of extra credit opportunities.
Professor Ni is not very easy to understand. Everything is learned in the lectures, no homework, and 3 tests. Her handwriting is terrible. She teaches the class under a camera that projects on the screen, that's how it is every day in class. Please do not take this professor.
Just don't take her, unbelievably hard to sit through the lectures and her bad handwriting and fast pace makes it impossible to fully understand anything.
This professor was incredibly difficult and even when she makes an attempt to help students that come to office hours, she bounces between two different people which doesn't really help anybody learn long term. Many people dropped this class and I should have during add/drop as well. I've never felt so stressed out by a class in my life.
Don't let the other reviews scare you! Professor Ni is one of the best professors I've ever had. She warns everyone at the beginning that her class won't be a "piece of cake" and that you need to attend class and most importantly DO THE PRACTICE SETS. If you want to learn something I suggest you take her. P.S. There are bonus points for attendance
I was originally terrified to take this course with this professor after reading the reviews, but passed this course with an A. Professor Ni is truly kind and cares about your grade. Most drop after the first exam. As long as you show up, listen, and study you will pass. I failed the first exam and still passed with an A. completely doable.
Even though the lecture is so heavy, she leads us great through every topic. Just be in class, listen to her advice, do the practice set, and go to class early so you have a couple of minutes to ask her if you get stuck in the practice set.
Professor Ni's class is definitely no walk in the park, but if you're willing to put in the effort, you can learn a lot. Attending lectures and doing the practice sets is crucial. unstuck AI was a lifesaver for my study prep - highly recommend giving it a try!
Prof Ni is not easy, but she is clear about her expectations and was worth it. She genuinely loves statistics and is very knowledgeable. You get extra credit for missing 0-2 classes, which is helpful given there are 3 grades total (3 exams). She gives lecture notes and practice sets for each, DO THESE TO PASS. It requires work, but it is doable.
Your grade is based on only 3 exams, and most of the questions on the exams are “show-your-work” type of questions and hand written. The professor wants answers very specific, majority of the class dropped the course after the first exam. Attendance is mandatory for all lectures.
Lectures are hand written by the professor and very difficult to read so keep that in mind. If students miss more than 3 classes they will be given a failing grade for the course even if they are sick so make sure you can commit to showing up to all lectures. Only 3 exams. Students are counted absent if they leave early or show up late.
She is not a fun teacher. She refuses to do makeup exams, and you have to tell her if something happens in the first month of class, or you will get no credit or an extension. Her lectures made no sense. I took her online and had a very hard time following along because she would pull numbers out of thin air and NOT explain how she got there.
