She is a very nice teacher and is always willing to help you and understand everything she teaches. She assigns homework out of the book every night but only collects and grades it about twice a week. The tests are easy if you study and do the study guide. She always goes over any questions about the study guide the day before the test.
Rahr is a great teacher! before her class I was terrible at math like my best was a C and now I'm pulling a solid A, if you dont understand math take her she has a great way of explaining things so they make sense. There is homework everyday but she doesnt always collect it maybe once or twice a week. she drops the lowest test score for the semestr
She is a very nice professor. she is very helpful, if you ever need help dont be afraid to ask. i give her a thumbs up!! take her if possible.
I love Mrs. Rahr. She understands that everyone understands and learns math differently. She will normally show you several ways to do a problem and if your the few who don't get it that way, she makes sure you do. Most importantly: She cares. She is definitely a math nerd but she's cool!
Math has never been my strong suit, but as previous posters have said, H. Rahr is awesome at explaining things in a way that everyone can understand. Even outside of class, she goes above and beyond to help you, if you ask. Best Math teacher I've had. Take her class!
Dr. Rahr is really great at making sure you know how to do the problems, she goes over homework questions everyday on the board and provides study guides and aides for the quizzes and tests. There are 3 group projects but they arent to bad, but quizzes every thursday. I recommend this class!
She's a pretty cool teacher. She'll definitely help you if you ask for it! I'm terrible at math, but she made everything very easy to understand. I'd recommend doing the homework online after she offers it. It will definitely help your grade. Just make sure you know what you're doing and you'll be fine on tests. Group projects kinda suck though.
She is awesome!! I had to retake this class twice, and loved that I had her! She makes sure you pass and will go beyond to help out! I definitly recommend!
Goes through questions from assignments if you ask. Gives study guides for class. Quiz every thursday but they are easy.
Rahr is an amazing professor! She is very understanding and her teaching style is very clear. If I could pick a math professor, I would pick her for sure! You are going to miss out if you don't have her.
She is the best teacher ever. I'm not even exaggerating. I have never been a fan of math, but she explains everything clearly and always welcomes questions. Homework is never too bad, but there typically is some due for each class. If you pay attention and aren't afraid to ask for help, you'll be grand. I absolutely loved this class and professor.
She is seriously the best math teacher that there is! I always hated math and she makes things crystal clear and easy to understand! she is a must if you want to do good in math.
loved her. she's very helpful, she teaches clearly and what she expects out of her students in terms of work is crystal clear. She's pretty nice all around. my only complaint was that sometimes if you asked her a question about a problem, she answered a little harshly but if you just ignore her tone and let her do her job of assisting you, its fine
Rahr's awesome. If you go to class and try, she will be there for you. If you're constantly skipping and BSing, then you get what you deserve. She's VERY fair. I'm so glad I took her, because she makes 141 non-scary. She's one of UWW's best instructors. Sometimes her tone sounds snippy, but she doesn't mean it. She's so, so awesome. TAKE HER!
She's got a very snippy tone. If you can look past her rudeness she's fine I suppose. Confusing at times. Her work is fairly simple, but there's A LOT of it.
I've always struggled in math and I struggled in this course, however, she helped a lot. Math has always been so difficult for me and she eased my anxiety about it because she was so helpful. She's very understanding and I would say that she's a fair grader. If she sees that you're trying, she'll try too. Go to her office hours if you need help!!
Math was always very tough for me and there was a lot of work in Rahr's class, but she wants her students to succeed. She's very helpful if you prove to her that you care. I missed an exam once but she let me retake it because I visited her office hours. She also likes to give out extra credit when she's in a good mood.
Professor Rahr is the best math teacher I have ever had. She makes things so clear and easy to understand. I have never done so well in a math class before. The tests are easy but just make sure you do the homework.
She was so helpful and really wants her students to learn the material. I was not afraid to ask questions in class. I recommend her to everyone! She was awesome!
Huckleberry is so nice. Math was always my worse subject and I got an A in her class. Her lectures are clear and she makes sure you understand the material. Lets of help offered.
She is a very good professor! Tried taking her my second semester but my sign up date was so far and she was take . Upset but highly recommend her as a math professor. Very clear and easy to follow her lessons!
Rahr made this the easiest math class I've taken so far. She's easily one of the best professors here at WW. There's lots of homework and quizzes, but they're easy if you pay attention in class. She's always willing to help you if you need it.
I loved Huckleberry! First A I've ever gotten in math. She goes through everything with you. The only thing is she's kinda fast when she talks about new material. Just listen and pay attention. She's always willing to help you. Best math teacher ever.
She is a fantastic professor and will go out of her way to help, if you are also willing to put the work in too. Super chill, but don't abuse it. Push the envelope, and she will not worry to much how you do.
I don't think she is necessarily a bad teacher, she just goes through the material kind of fast and it is sometimes hard to understand the material. She is very intimidating and sarcastic which may be difficult for some students to feel comfortable communicating with her for help.
Amazing math instructor. I would take her again. Beware that she is very sarcastic, but is willing to help if you want it. Seems intimidating but she's human and gets that things happen. If you work for it, you'll get it.
I really really like Rahr, she is very sarcastic, but that is what makes the class fun. You have a quiz every Thursday, but she makes reviews that almost outline the test. She moves kind of fast, but she is always willing to go back and help you if need be. You just need to ask for the help. Overall, great professor and will take her again.
For being a Freshman and going into a math class, I was scared. Honestly, her notes are amazing and so are her lectures. Although, she does give practice quizzes and they have saved me in this class. I LOVED her.
I personally loved huckle. she really cares about her students and goes out of her way to sure you understand. Take her if you struggle with math. she is probably one of the best professors at uww.
Rahr is by far one of the best professors I've ever had! I've never done so well in a math class, she makes it so easy to understand, and does everything to help you keep your grade up! If you have questions she's always willing to meet with you and answers to E-mails almost immediately! If you struggle with math I'd definitely take her!
I was disappointed. She talks really fast, so I often would still be writing what she said by the time she was checking for questions. She does a lot to help you get a good grade (drops bad quizzes etc) but if she was teaching the material well, it wouldn't be necessary. She's hardly available for office hours, and her side talk is distracting.
Huckleberry is an excellent math professor. She has a great sense of humor, and makes the class interesting. If you participate and get on her good side, you will have no difficulty. Just make sure to keep up with the workload and understand the material as the class moves along. If you're unsure about a math professor for 141, take her.
Rahr is the best math professor I've ever had. She explains everything in depth and goes out of her way to help students succeed. This is the first math class I've ever gotten an A in, she is fantastic.
You have a quiz every Thursday that covers the material from the past week. She teaches very fast, which works for some students-but not me. Some quizzes she would walk around and yell at you if you started a problem wrong which was helpful but also embarrassing to be called out when the classroom is silent. She is a nice lady but also intimidating
There's some good things about her and some bad things about her. She can be understanding at times when you tell her about your struggles, and she drops the two lowest test grades. She wants you to do well. However, sometimes she'll stand over me when I'm working and will get frustrated when I start the problem off wrong. She makes me feel stupid.
Rahr genuinely cares about her job and wants you to do the best you can and to put effort towards your work. 141 progressively gets harder but she does a lot of extra things to help you out. Responds to you within 30 minutes whenever. All time favorite professor.
Shes not a terrible teacher but her personality sucks. Shes snarky, sarcastic and condescending. I got a good grade, but if I could go back, Id take this class with someone else
Not a good teacher. I learn more in the SI's then in class.
Dont take her
Amazing! I have never gotten an A in a math class before. She seems very intimidating at first but she actually is very funny and likes to engage with students. She knows math very well and is helpful if you ask for help. She also stays up late making youtube videos and helps you one on one through webassign as well. Ive take two classes with her.
Rahr will help you in any way she possibly can to help you pass the class.
She is very straightforward and expects you to know everything. She encourages you to ask her for help whenever you need it but will make you feel like you are stupid. There is always homework and a quiz once a week. She knows what she is teaching and is a good teacher, but goes kind fast.
She is knowledgable on the content, but is not caring at all. She is the type of person to attack you for not understanding how to do the work. She is also a very tough grader, and grades the homework like it's a quiz. DO NOT TAKE HER.
Professor Rahr knows her stuff, but she is terrible. She doesn't teach, doesn't grade anything, and doesn't care how your doing in her class. She walks into class with a snotty look on her face and a big attitude.
Huckle does not teach math 139, she hands you assignments and does not give you lecture on math. This is a group based work class and it can be challenging to understand the material when you are not taught at all.
She is a dedicated professor. We have quizzes every Thursday but we get a review guide and she puts youtube videos of her actually doing the problems. There is HW due every Sunday through WebAssign but she gives extensions and helps out a lot if you do not know the answer. Highly recommend!
I can't say enough good things about Rahr. If you have the chance to take her for any class, do it, you won't regret it. She truly cares about how all of her students are doing in class. She will do whatever she can to help you understand the material. Reviews before quizzes and exams are extremely helpful and tell you everything you need.
Monday homework is fairly heavy so DO NOT forget to do that homework before Wednesday. She uploads helpful reviews with answers and video tutorials of the material. She is very understanding of different viewpoints of math and different ways of solving the same problems. I'm dyslexic and felt very understood and successful in this class.
Amazing professor. Makes the material accessible to all, even those who aren't great at math. If you put in the effort, she will help you every step of the way and make sure you understand the material.
Would highly recommend this professor. Really makes sure you understand the material and is always willing to help you if you're stuck. Very good at responding to emails and helping outside of class. Not always the easiest material, but she makes the class very enjoyable. Willing to go out of her way to make sure you succeed.
Huckleberry is an amazing professor. I took her for Math 141 and 143 and I would strongly recommend her to anybody looking for a good math teacher. She actually cares about her students and how they do in her class, unlike some other professors. Replies to emails quickly and will explain things in greater detail if she is asked to.
She may be the best math teacher I've ever had. She loves when you ask questions about the webassign homework and responds very fast so don't be afraid to do so. She makes youtube videos to help you and the tests are easier than the study guides so you will be prepared for the tests. Take her!
One of the best math teachers you could possibly have here on campus. I have always struggled with math and she gave me confidence in class and encouraged me to try my best. Best communication, and overall just an awesome person. So happy I got to have her as a teacher.
Huckle cares a lot about her students and wants them to understand the material. she goes above and beyond by creating youtube playlists that further explain each section and is always available for questions - responds to emails super fast! She takes time to help her students and if you show you care, she will too.
I don't think she is a bad professor, but she is low on my list. She makes you a decent amount of homework. Which is fine, it's just that you need to do your homework online on a system that is too specific. Sometimes it is glitchy. I just wish she would accept printed homework. She doesn't fit my learning style and its annoying doing math online.
I wouldn't say she's a bad professor but def not on up top or in the middle. nope.
Amazing. She genuinely cares about all the students that put an EFFORT into class. She once even emailed me to make sure I was doing okay. You get endless webassigns, but they prepare you for the exams and the quizzes. The exams and quizzes need to be written in a HER way or else you get points off. I thought i was bad at math until i met her. LOVE
She is completely amazing, she always makes the lectures relatable to real life scenarios. She has amazing accessibility
I always hated math until I took math 141. She teaches by essentially making a workbook that corresponds with a short video lecture. I just loved this format and didn't need to use the textbook at all to learn. The problems were structured just how you would see them on the exams and the review was harder than the exam. LOVED this class and her.
Great professor, always looking out for her students.
I had Huckleberry for Math 139 and I can't express how caring and sweet she is. She always made my table laugh and would share funny stories with us. The class was fun and the environment was very friendly. Lots of homework but nothing out of the norm. Quiz reviews were very helpful, and she would go over it in class and leave time for questions.
She made math accessible. I've always been fearful of the subject, but her humor and thoughtful approach made me feel very comfortable. She was always willing to meet with me when I asked and would even help with test preparation. I didn't think I had it in me to pass this class, she proved me wrong. I worked for it, but she was behind me the whole
I can't say enough about professor Rahr! Take her class, do the work, and attend her lectures and you will do well. She was easy to understand and if I didn't quite grasp a concept, she had another way of explaining it up her sleeve. She is funny, kind, and has high expectations for her students. Her math videos are awesome!
Professor Rahr is outstanding! I am a distance learner and took Math 141 online. I typically struggle with math, but Huckle turned that around. She has incredible videos (way better than a book) on most topics and offers to make more upon request. Not only that, but she is readily available to help. We met via Skype multiple times. Take her class!
If you want to pass she will help you. Has tutors assigned to your class that help with all class material including quizzes and exams. Offers extra credit on homework. Don't use a textbook because she give you all the documents you need. Homework is done through Cengage so you have the ability to get 100% or more on each assignment.
Huckle is an amazing professor. There is homework and you do need to go to class, but it goes by fast and she always makes things fun and interesting! She is really good for people who learn visually, but can also teach things a few different ways. I highly recommend taking her if you can!
Awesome professor. Took two of her classes and I recommend you take her classes if you have the chance. She cares about her students, the material was easy to follow and she makes sure everyone's questions are answered. There is homework weekly but it prepares you a lot for the tests.
Huckle uses WebAssign for math. She will issue extensions if you ask. She is caring, but also has a limit. If you show that you are working hard and trying, she may bump your grade up a bit at the end of the semester. She makes math fun by teaching with easily remembered analogies. My favorite teacher thus far. Taking math 139 with her as well.
Huckle is just awesome. She makes math fun. She responds pretty quickly to emails and questions. Show that you're trying and she'll have a bit of mercy on ya. Ask questions, because there's usually others that are lost too. Uses webassign for homework and some quizzes. I Highly recommend Huckle!
The lecture is amazing, easy to understand. Pro Rahr's youtube videos really help her student to get extra practice. Just as long as you do your homework and understand the exam material you will do great.
Professor Rahr cares about her students and wants them to succeed but she also is very specific when grading ESPECIALLY WITH LABELS. If you don't write m for slope or write the y-intercept in a point you get the problem wrong. She also has a very high ego and acts like she is better than others. She is pretty funny at times. she is a nice person.
professor Rahr is a very nice person but a tough grader and takes attendance in every class.
She is one of the only math teacher I actually learned and retained the information from. I would indeed take her again for the sake she teaches well. She is kinda harsh when it comes to tests and quizzes. She is very passive aggressive but overall I did will in the class and liked her a lot.
She does provide extra credit but in the end it doesn't help your overall grade; busy work. Another thing is during her lectures she is always complaining about something that people do in class or out of class. She makes her students feel incompetent. Would not take this again. Or any of her classes.
Professor Rahr is very rude with her feedback and does not give good feedback like she claims too. She can be hard to follow through lectures. She is also an extremely tough grader and will take of big amounts of points for small mistakes on quizzes and exams. She does drop your lowest quiz grade though.
Professor Rahr is constantly complaining about something her students did. She takes off big points for small mistakes on quizzes or exams. She is also super passive aggressive giving feedback. Save yourself the headache and don't take her.
Rahr was a great professor to take for math 139. She assigned homework weekly, but it was do-able. She was there to answer any questions and give feedback on all test. I took her remotely and still was able to understand her class material and do good on test.
Huckleberry Rahr is by far one of the worst college professors Ive ever had. You get the answers correct but she still counts it wrong because apparently she either couldnt couldnt read the writing or the work. Just because you use another method other than her preferred one she counts it wrong. She chooses not to do her job then gets mad
I think Professor Rahr gets a bad rap among certain students. She comes off as tough at first, but you eventually get used to how her class works. Some questions she takes off points for little things, but usually gives you a few points of extra credit to cancel that out. Overall, a nice lady who makes you work a little to get a good grade.
Prof Rahr is the most disrespectful teacher I have come across. Extremely condescending and treated the class like we were little kids. I get that it is a lower level math but we are adults as well. The amount of homework assignments she gave us that had info that had no correlation with the tests was insane, left me and others struggling w/ tests.
She is the absolute worst professor I have ever had. Not only does she take off so many points for tiny mistakes, but she is just plain rude. No teacher has ever been so disrespectful to me. I took this class online but can't even imagine how horrible it would have been in person. I am a 4.0 student and ended up with a C is her class. Do not take.
Not great at teaching the criteria. If you go a lot and pay attention you will learn but do not get on her bad side. Not super respectful to students but if she likes you she will help you with your questions. Overall pretty easy course but homework heavy and difficult quizzes.
She does not know how to teach at all. Overall half my class failed the first exam and she will not even put a curve on it. She even mentioned how 5% of the class was able to get a single question right on a page of the test. Maybe instead of complaining, she should change her teaching ways.
My golly, why do the correct answers on tests have to be hidden throughout the entire semester? The only feedback she will give you is what you did wrong on work pages but not how to fix them. She's not horrible by all means but she isn't the best with teaching criteria. The class is basically busy work with a quiz or exam almost every weekend.
Prof Rahr's a hit or miss. If you're on her good side you have nothing to worry about, show up, do the work and study for the tests. However if you're not on her good side, good luck. She does a decent job of explaining the material and has all the notes on canvas along with YouTube videos by her explaining every chapter which is nice.
Math isn't usually my strong suit, but professor Rahr made my math credits easy and stress-free. Most quizzes are accessible and the exams were definitely something you need to prepare for. Homework was burdensome, but it did get you ready for the upcoming quizzes. Definitely would take it again if I had the chance.
She can be a nice person, but I don't agree with her way of teaching. I had her for Math 143 online and when asking questions via the HW site you were reluctant to get a clear answer. She's also very picky about neatness. There's lots of HW, quizzes/tests often include the easier parts of the HW, and if you do well you might get to skip the final.
This class online is A LOT of work between Webassign problems, quizzes, tests and her video problems. Her video playlists are easy to follow though and she does a good job explaining how to do the problems.
While professor Rahr is a caring person, the amount of homework was insane. The strict grading criteria also made it challenging, as if you didn't have the answers down to the T, you were docked points. This caused half of my class to fail one of the quizzes because they just put the slope without "m=" before it. Remember these small things.
If you don't previously have knowledge on the topics you're gonna have to put in work outside of class, but her lectures are really detailed and I personally think it was well laid out.
One of the worst teachers Ive ever had. She makes you feel stupid in front of the whole class by giving snarky replies to your questions. She goes through everything so fast and does not stop to make sure you understand. She is not a good teacher and doesnt even allow test corrections. DO NOT take
Professor Rahr I would say is an alright professor. She does respond in a timely manner as I am in the online class, but I have found to sometimes be a difficult grader. She seems to care about her students & as I have experiences both online & in person classes of hers I would most definitely recommend the online course.
Huck is very nice if you show her respect, which I think is deserved. You have to do weekly webassigns as well as in-class homework that you have to finish at home if not done in class. Her exams aren't too hard, as long as you put in the effort on notes and homework passing isn't that difficult.
She is a very caring person, in that, she cares and wants her students to succeed. She is picky with how a problem is answered but will give you some credit if she knows you are trying.
Huckleberry goes through lectures way too fast. Asks to see where everyone is at in the lecture then if you say you are struggling she does not offer any help. She grades tests so heavy.
Would speed through lecture and not really check if students were understanding. Nice person, terrible teacher. Everything on the test is 10 times harder than anything actually talked about in class. Will be avoiding her classes in the future. (If your whole class scored poorly on multiple quizzes maybe the students aren't the problem)
Amazing teacher! She made the class feel cared for and was very helpful when teaching. Amazing at getting the class to understand the material. I would absolutely recommend this teacher to anyone. Overall, I could not stand math until i was in her class.
She often rolls her eyes at students, ignores questions, and makes sassy remarks. Speeds through the material, any question asked is usually ignored or she will just cut you off completely. She has a HUGE problem with students missing class, even if university events. She will also do things like take your phone if you need to go to the bathroom.
I took her for Math 139 and she is one of the worst professors I have had. She is very belittling and rude to her students. I do not recommend taking her class. She often rolls her eyes at students and makes you feel stupid for not understanding the material. She also speeds through the lectures and it is hard to understand what she is teaching.
She will not grade leniently, no half points for simple mistakes such as forgetting labels in word problems. Moves through course lessons extremely fast, and acts sometimes passive aggressive which made me more reluctant to ask questions. Retook the class with a different professor and did much better.
Very rude and makes snarky and judgmental comments if you are confused. She wanted me in class when I had COVID. I was capable of passing but I could not stand her presence and decided to not show up. If you do attend, the class is fine and she is very good at explaining the curriculum but she is incredibly difficult to work/deal with.
Please please disregard some negative reviews! Huckleberry does have a sarcastic personality and does her best to match the energy of the classroom! She is incredible when interacted with and is very willing to help you understand as long as you ASK. She does move a little fast, but as long as you pay attention and take notes you will be just fine!
Huckleberry's class is challenging, but manageable with effort. While she moves quickly, she's caring and wants students to succeed. Using Unstuck AI and the free textbook helped me stay on top of the material.
These reviews have to be paid for. Huckleberry is very rude if she doesn't like you and expects a lot of unrealistic things out of you. She moves very fast in class and is hard to keep up with.
Attitude tends to be very condescending, she seems to look down on her students.
I hate waking up every other day knowing I have to have a class taught by her. She teaches super fast, and she doesn't worry about if you understand, cause she'll keep moving on anyways. She makes you feel stupid for asking questions in class. She even told us that half of her classes failed the tests, and she still does nothin to fix her teaching.
GO TO CLASS!!! If you miss a single class you will fall behind. You are expected to make up the entire packet from the lesson you missed. Did not talk much during class but was glared at tons of times.
She works soley off of worksheets so print them it is easier to follow. She goes through every quiz and exam after. She communicates how she grades and where points come from. Show work and be at class or you are losing easy points. She also provides several practice videos of her explaining how to do problems if you do not understand in class.
She writes passive-aggressive notes on your tests when you get a question wrong. And sometimes in class, she's annoyed by some people's questions and responds rudely. I felt bad for those people! Otherwise, she's okay, and you will learn the material.
She's passive aggressive and rude to students. If you don't get something, she says she loves questions, but she's honestly pretty rude with how she answers. On the bright side, there are extra credit opportunities rarely, and she has a YouTube channel going over everything.
Huckleberry Rahr had to have been the least agreeable teacher I have ever had. Day after day, passive aggressive remark after remark, Huckleberry never failed to diminish my spirits. She took the rare spark of learning out of mine and everyones soul with her inconsistent, arbitrary expectations, leaving herself consistently dissatisfied.
Good luck.
She's unhelpful and tents to degrade students when you ask a simple question. often makes you feel like you should know everything after she says it once. she's a rude to talk to even outside of math work and even through emails. As a teacher in general she's not horrible, but if you have questions or need help during or after class, good luck.
hard to get a hold of, if you have any questions or need help she belittles you.
Super hard to reach. Isn't very helpful and makes you feel dumb for asking for help. Take literally any other professor!
She can be rude when you ask questions. There were cues of favoritism and I felt like I had to learn everything on my own. She can be nice to you when she notices you are doing well, but rude when you are struggling. The only thing I thought was good about her was I thought her teaching wasn't that bad and she provides videos/packets for practice.
if you don't have a r
Not very understanding and is very rude
A lot of people say she's a so-so professor for Math 139, but to be honest, she really isn't. She is harsh often, but she's great at teaching math; it's clear and explained well. As long as you go to class every day and pay attention, and do the graded homework, you'll be fine in her class. I used to be a D/C math student, but now I'm an A student.
