It was difficult trying to find the key points of her lectures. She would often spend lecture time giving examples to the content we were learning (when those examples were hard to follow and were not necessarily important for what we needed to know for the exam). The textbook was a great supplement to the confusing lectures.

very sweet, funny professor; attendance matters and there are a lot of poll evs, but you don't really need to pay attention in lecture; there are A LOT of terms to memorize but exam questions are copied straight from the textbook; i got 96+ on all exams by making quizlets from the tb; quizzes every week taken online and not proctored; no homework

I absolutely loved Dr. Lin! A lot of people say it's hard to understand her because of her thick accent, but she annunciates the important parts of topics so she helps you understand. She goes fast, so I would recommend to look at all the slides before and after class to see any information you may have missed. Very test, lecture, and slide heavy.

Extremely easy class if you just put in the work. It's very lecture heavy, so take notes. To get 90+ on exams all you need to do is thoroughly study the presentations she uses. She's super kind and she takes time to clear up anything that you may find confusing about a specific topic.

Though she is a lovely person, her language of medicine class is very difficult. The exams are from the slideshows and the information doesn't compare to what we were taught. The “final” is one of the closed book exams (you have 3 throughout the semester) so study a lot because they are weighted so heavily.

Her lectures are very long and boring. She only gives out 3 exams that are worth 60% of your grade. She does not offer any extra credit so if you don't do well on exams your screwed. You need to spend well over 15 hours studying for each exam. Would not take this class again if I didn't have to.

Lin's materials were outdated, she used derogatory terms for people with mental disabilities and Down Syndrome, she was very judgy toward the class. She also tried to deny my disabilities accommodations and I had to get disabilities services involved. You can learn a lot but take everything with a grain of salt and prep hard for tests.

This class is almost entirely lecture and quiz based. The lectures are long and boring and almost all the preparation for the exams were done on my own outside of class. She is also an extremely harsh grader, as I was 0.2% away from an A and she stands by her no extra credit or rounding rule.

let me put this into perspective: there are 147 medical terms that we are expected to know the definitions and spellings of for a WEEKLY, timed quiz. extremely hard class, lectures are mandatory (but you learn nothing from them), and be prepared to spend hours of your week studying for this class. I also can't understand her half the time

If you have her at 8am, then definitely don't expect to enjoy her lectures. She speaks loudly in the mic with a heavy accent throughout a long boring lecture. One student gets a high grade meaning the exams should be "easy" to everyone else. If you have any sort of excuse, you're better off not sending that email. Weekly non-proctored quizzes tho.

Took her for MMSC100 too, but that course was not as heavy. Didnt have a choice to take her again, hated this class. She reads off her slides, and makes no effort to help you individually. Tests are hard too, you need to study on your own ALOT if youre going to do well.

She is very hard to understand. She makes learning difficult in the class by not catering towards students. She is struggling to understand and reads off of her 2007 slides. If I am paying for college tuitio,n I want a teacher who knows how to connect with the students. She is nice, but not your friend.

She was a great professor. Even for an online course, I could understand her very well and she was very funny. Very vocab heavy, but makes sense in a lang of medicine class. I did not think she was difficult at all. Her exams were online and proctored, and they were very straightforward and easy if you studied vocab and paid attention in class.

There are weekly closed-book quizzes for each unit which use a lockdown browser. In class though she gives like 10secs to answer the PollEvs and you get graded on participation. The exams are worth 60% of your grade which can be pretty bad if you aren't a good test-taker.

She spends every class reading straight from the slides, but if you go back to try and study the slides for exams it's super difficult because they are so unorganized. She brags that people get near 100's all the time while in reality the average on most tests is a C or lower. Be ready to study a lot each wk if you want to do decent.

Pollevs every class as part of your grade. Three exams worth 20% each, but if you studied straight from her powerpoints, you will do great on them... just make Quizlets because it is all memorization. The spelling quizzes every week can be found on Quizlet, as well as for the exams.

Use poll everywhere for attendance and gives you literally 4 seconds to put in an answer. If not, you're cooked. Expects you to remember all of the information in her heavy lecture slides which are outdated. Gives 20 mins for quizzes and is overall very test and lecture heavy. She is a very tough grader. I dreaded coming to this class. Her lectures were boring and her slides are disorganized. It's not that hard, it's just such a painful lecture to sit through. She seems like a very sweet lady, but the grading in this class is insane with the amount of material she throws at you. The quizzes aren't bad as long you practice a lot before taking them. The exams are eh since its so much material to learn but it should be fine if you study with quizlets made by previous students and use the practice exams.

I took this class at 8 AM and it was tough to stay awake but professor Lin was always very energetic and engaging. She posts recordings of lectures and uploads the slides so its ok if you miss lectures, the exams were straight off the slides so if you have trouble with memorization it will probably be difficult but if not then its pretty easy!
