Professor Blake is the best! He is an amazing teacher, and makes sure that everyone understands the material before he goes on. Because he is very thorough, this class is an easy A. I learned so much, and I highly recommend taking his class!

he was the easiest professor i have ever had. he was also the most likable and laid back teacher i have met so far. he explains anything you ask and the midterm and exam are exactly what was on the study guides but he takes out some things you have to fill in. theres not much homework either.. i miss that class, it was good times.

this is my second class with prof. blake (who is a grad student), his classes are an easy A. There are quizzes every so often, kind of a lot of reading (just look at sparknotes lol) and two papers that i thought were easy. Also, the midterm was easy and the final isnt cumulative. take him for phil 160 and you wont regret it!!

I went into the final with 108%. This is the easiest class I have EVER taken. He is awesome, but I could have learned more. I did learn though. We got out of class at least 30 minutes early every day. We pay a lot for our education and I just feel like I could have gotten more. Hes easy as could be though if youre looking for a smooth ride.

Two 5 page pretty easy papers, midterm and final with all the questions given ahead of time. If you're a philosophy major you probably don't want to take him because he might not prepare you for future classes, but non-majors...he's perfect! Learn enough without breaking your ass AT ALL. PS HE DOESNT TAKE ROLL!

Blake literally sparked my interest in philosophy. I am an acct major and hate classes heavy in reading and writing. He used a scene of futurama for of our quizzes..he's the man. Also, he has so much passion about the things he is teaching it is so easy to stay engaged even tho he will never call on anyone

I took Blake at 8 am and he honestly made it worth getting up that early. It is very clear how intelligent he is by how clearly he can explain concepts. As others have said, he incorporates interesting mediums into the class, such as videos from the website The Onion. Thoroughly enjoyed this class with him. Little to no homework and tests are easy.

The definition of what a good teacher should be. His lectures were always incredibly intriguing not only from a content perspective but he definitely has a great charisma while teaching. Nothing was left unexplained. Even if you missed a class, he'd spend the next class recapping the class before! Only two papers; incredibly interesting topics!

Hugh Blake is a great professor and makes philosophy really interesting. He is very clear in his lectures. Although sometimes his content can be a bit repetitive, it really makes it easier to remember and understand the philosophical concepts.

Probably one of the most clear, professional, charismatic, and interesting educators I have ever had. His lectures are great! I had his class at 9am but I honestly would not have minded at all if I had this class at 8am. I'm by no means a great student but the way he conducted classes were always intriguing and it was not a difficult class at all.

One of the greatest teachers I've ever had. I learned an incredible amount with only a minimal amount of work. No quizzes or tests, the only assignments were ten 2 page papers that had to be written over the course of the semester (a lot easier than it sounds) and the final. I was never bored either in or outside of the classroom.

Prof. Blake is an awesome guy and I wish I knew more about him. He is someone that you could just have a super interesting conversation about philosophy with all day. The only thing I didn't like was how much he repeated stuff because I like to learn quickly, but I definitely learned the material. The class was very easy but also very interesting.

I really really enjoyed his class. He made it super interesting and easy to learn. He seems really nice and he makes a lot of jokes. You wouldn't really get a good grade if you didn't show up to class, but it is not mandatory. He occasionally gives quizzes, but they're easy if you study/read your notes. Willing to go over anything with you.

He explains the reading really well, which made the course material make a lot of sense. He teaches in a way that really resonated with me and helped me remember the material. He can be really repetitive with his lectures though. He is a good speaker and really interesting and funny. He also shows a lot of movies and TV shows.

Great class if trying to fulfill your philosophy requirement. He does have readings that are "required" but he goes over all of the points in class that u need to know. No tests, just quizzes. If you show up to class and pay a little attention you will be able to ace the quizzes and the class. One paper near end of course and very little homework.

Such a cool guy that explains everything so well. When we go over a complicated section he revisits it so that everyone understands. The homework is an average amount of reading and then we sometimes have quizzes. No midterm. Just a final, a paper, and 10 quizzes. Awesome class.

Wow, I heard rumors that he's leaving LMU and if so we just lost one of the best lecturers ever. His class is so straightforward and easy to stay engaged in. 10 easy quizzes, one easy paper, one easy final, plus extra credit opportunities. He is also so animated and easy to understand and follow. Wherever he teaches, just take him and enjoy it.

Prof Blake really knows his stuff and makes lectures fun and easy to understand. Was worried about taking Philosophy but loved the class. If you take notes and follow readings, you will be fine on the weekly quizzes. The final was short and just like the quizzes and he gave plenty of time to work on final paper. Overall, take Prof Blake if you can!

Professor Blake's online class was easy and interesting. I definitely learned a lot by just showing up to the zoom lecture/class on MWF, but didn't have a ton of outside work. He picks a lot of really interesting material to cover and fun videos.

The class was boring, but he is so sweet! He makes this class so easy, so please take him. Weekly 4 question quizzes, final essay, and exam. Easy grader too! Lecture heavy and no one participated, but he is such a nice person.

Class is all lecture based with almost weekly quizzes. Engaging speaker. By paying attention in class, you should do well on all quizzes. When I took Prof. Blake's class as a freshman my first semester, I absolutely loved it!! I took this class as a core requirement (expecting to hate it), but Blake honestly made the class so interesting I genuinely wanted to attend! 10/10 recommend taking his class instead of the other professors!! Standard lecture and weekly quiz class. You don't really have to do the readings if you take notes, pay attention, and review a bit. He usually tells you what'll be on the quiz beforehand. One paper, considerably easy final. Take Blake for philosophy, trust me.

Philosophy with Professor Blake is my favorite class so far!! The whole class is lecturing but I don't find it boring because he's a really funny person and makes me interested in the subject. Take him! Great professor, an easy A class. All the classes are lectures, and he repeats himself a lot, but he is nice and funny, and the repetition really helps me remember everything. If you willingly did not take this man's class I would question your sanity. Easiest professor I have ever had in terms of working with you, he is so understanding and knows how to help you understand the material. 1 essay the entire semester, 1 final test, and 10 quizzes (~1 per week) that are way too easy. Professor Blake is awesome! The way he lectures makes philosophy seem easy! If you need to take philosophy for a core, take it with him. There are quizzes every Friday but they are so easy and he tells you what you need to know. The whole class is basically just him talking so if you don't like to speak up in class, this is the best class to take.

Professor Blake is very funny and honestly gives really nice and laid back lectures. Quizzes every week with a final paper and test. Wouldn't say its a free A, but certainly not too difficult. Only thing to be wary about is that he does not post his lectures/slides, so you need to get down everything in class. Otherwise very chill.

Professor Blake has the best lectures of any professor I have ever had. Very interesting material and breaks it down in a way where anyone could understand. The class is very easy and only has weekly quizzes of which he repeats the answers of a lot, very hard to miss. Final is a long multiple choice and an essay but quite easy.

Hugh Blake is a great teacher. Even though many of his lectures are repetitive, he always makes sure you understood the subject. He explains well, answers all the questions and he allows you to do make-up quizzes. He also makes sure to explain what's going to be in the quiz and tests.

This professor made me want to come to class and learn, his lecture/teaching style is so inspiring. Was also extremely accommodating and understanding with my ADHD. I did my course evaluations for the first time ever because he truly is one of, if not the best.
