Since when does a professor's teaching ability have any relationship to his physical appearance? Dr. Curnutt is an excellent professor and an inspiring speaker. The workload complimented the course objective -- to become familiar with the fundamentals of speech. The grading was fair, the assignments were relevant, and the instructions were clear.

Curnutt is extremely hard when it comes to assignments and grading. Media & Society is a 100 level class and we had two research papers, a tough midterm and final, as well as pop quizzes throughout the semester. His homework assignments are dry 50 page readings. He is complicated and not easy to understand. I will say he is nice knowledgable

He gets 90% of the test questions from the textbook. Read all the assigned articles (some are dry) Summer classes get 1 paper while semester gets 2. Midterm and final. He is demanding in the quality of writing. Content is incredibly interesting. Does give extra credit sometimes. Overall he is very intelligent and reasonable. I would take him again.

Great class and an outstanding professor. If you have been putting off speech, he is the guy to take it with. Very topical, fun, and interesting. Do the work, take in his feedback, and you will be rewarded. The more you participate the better you will become and the better the class will be, so speak up!

He's not exactly hot. But he does have an adorable sense of style! I didn't like how 20% of our grade was for 10 quizzes in class - they were 2% each. If you didn't read that week or didn't understand the reading, which is understandable since they're all like 30+ pages each, you failed them. That dropped my grade. Exams come from lectures ONLY.

If you want to learn anything useful, take someone else. The class organization makes no sense: he makes you read 50-70 pages for these quizzes he gives before every class, and the material you read doesn't come up on the final or midterm. The lectures are pretentious and nothing is backed by evidence, it's all just marxism or postmodernism.

This was one of the most unclear and difficult courses I've taken at MSU. His lectures are very boring and I feel that I really didn't learn anything. Your grade is entirely made up of the 3 tests taken throughout the semester, and they aren't easy. I would avoid taking him if you could. Nice guy, but honestly really unclear with a lot of material.

Hi future student. I read the reviews for this class and like you, I was scared. I attempted to drop the class before it started. However, I enjoyed it. Yes, the topics are difficult to understand and there are only 3 grades the whole semester, BUT Curnutt is very nice and interesting. If you're up for the challenge and theory comes easy, take it.

My classes were all online and he posted everything we needed online. IT IS IMPORTANT TO PAY ATTENTION IN ALL LECTURES. Heavy on note taking, but not everything will be on the exam. And you genuinely have to think, its not clear cut multiple choice, you have to put some thought into it. Gives ALOT of extra credit for you to pass.

Dr Curnutt's lectures were very clear and he elaborates well. Take very specific notes on everything he says, since his tests are open note. There were assigned readings but I never did them and got an A anyway. His class is only hard if you don't show up or if you don't pay attention. A lot of test questions are verbatim from the lectures.

Hardest class I've taken so far, you only get 4 grades, and if you fail one thing you're pretty much doomed unless you do good on the rest. The midterm and final were very confusing and there is a 10-page paper. I'm not sure how I ended up with an A in the class because it was so stressful. Lectures were confusing and confusing as well.

Professor Curnutt somehow managed to make a video games elective course the most boring thing I have ever experienced. Our goal was to play Red Dead Redemption throughout the semester and we did that a total of maybe 2-3 time. He canceled class several times and sometimes on short notice leaving commuters in difficulty situations.

All of the exam info is based on his lectures in class, readings, or films/TV shows he says to watch. His slides don't cover all of the info on the exam, taking notes on what he says is key to passing.
