Good teacher. He is funny but kinda weird. Interesting class too.

Best teacher ever. He's hilarious! Gives test exactly from notes and goes over everything beforehand. Some of the assignments are kind of high school but super easy. You do need to go to class though and take notes. Fun class.

i took him for health 100...he's the easiest, funniest, and laughable guy you'll ever have. He's great, reading is not hard at all, he has tons of stories to share with you. Make PE 100x funnier. He has lots of life experiences. He's very engaging.

Gerhardt is prob one of or the best teacher at Palomar...He makes everything he teaches fun. I would take him for any class you can get in. If you dont do as well on the tests..He alway has things you can do to get extra credit but this is no freebe you still need to try and make sure your not late or miss! Great guy

He gives outlines a lot and in addition to that he tells you almost all the points that are test questions. There are a few projects but they are nothing you couldn't do in a few hours. Also, I don't think I once opened the book but I got a 94% in the class without doing any extra credit. Funny teacher too that will keep you awake in class.

Gerhardt is a great teacher, don't expect to get thrown a bone though. I fractured my fibia the last week of class and needed time in the gym. He told me to go away and look at my syllabus. I took this class online. I liked it. This professor is very energetic, very opinionated, and very knowledgable about the topic. He seems to value students sharing their own opinions and having fun. Very fair teacher when it comes to grading.

At first Gerhardt may seem mean but he's just trying to get rid of all the slackers in the beginning of the semester. He's really energetic and tends to drop by other classes (*coughs*EME 100 with Scott and Cody) whenever he's not teaching. He can be sarcastic sometimes but he makes class fun. Coach Gerhardt is very opinionated and he has great logic but no matter what he says i'm still using airborne and going to the chiropractic bc its worked for me...yeah yeah testimonial whatever..If you take this class you can expect a high energy teacher and to learn about hlth but also learn critical thinking skills.

I took Hugh Gerhardt for Summer 2010. It was a 3 week class at 7am. This is probably by far the best teacher I have ever had. He's extremely helpful and loves picking on everybody. It made the class extremely enjoyable. No matter what, he's so ridiculously full of positive energetic that you HAVE to be in a good mood. And he called me One-Arm.

Don't even bother purchasing the text, he doesn't really use it. His exams are directly from the lectures, so print out the outlines and make detailed notes, you will get the grade you deserve if you just apply yourself (even a little bit). His class was fun and I'm a slacker, even I got an A.

This guy is as real as it gets, and his old-school sense of humor that never fails to make you smile. His class is very easy if you have half a brain. By far my most favorite professor at Palomar yet. His lectures are very fun, entertaining, and beneficial. Impossible to fall asleep in that class because he is so energetic and loud, but in a good way! Tests are very easy if you simply reread the notes once. Don't buy the textbook.

Took this class at 7am on Fridays and never once felt myself falling to sleep. He is so energetic and has passion about the subject. Very opinionated man though so watch out. Have no regrets taking his class! I sat in the front row of the lecture hall, and he kept me alert by his strong loud voice. He has a great sense of humor. He points out the exam answers during his lectures so don't skip class. Also, class had a great experience on a hike trip to the "P" mountain. I highly recommend him!

I took his class on line and he provided audio lectures from a previous semester- his lectures were so interesting - I wish I had taken his class on campus. He has a great sense of humor and tries hard to engage his students and make the material interesting. Palomar is lucky to have him.

I started the semester with an English teacher who was a left wing, Democratic nut. I dropped her class and added this Health 100 class. After the first lecture I knew it was going to be a good semester. His political views tend to spill out during the lecture, but I didn't mind because we always had the same views. I took both his Health 100 class and his EME 100 class. He is a great professor, really easy to pass his tests considering he goes over every test question during lecture. If you skip class, chances are you wont do very good on the exams. He doesn't learn anyone's name so don't get offended when he calls you "yogurt" "fireman" or "pinky."

its better if you take it in the summer. i took his summer class and one thing you will figure out is that he talks AlOT! and brings up politics. sometimes does funny scripts to help you remember. you don't have to go to class but you should as he tells you what will be on the test so if you miss out on that most likely you won't pass the exams.

I am always weary of online classes that load you down with recorded lectures. His were fricking hilarious. He's engaging. I would take an in person class with him in a heart beat. Not too many tests and had extra credit options which I like.

Gerhardt is hands down one of the best teachers! Took him Fall '15 for Health 165. Very easy going. Makes it simple for students pass his class, just show up & take good notes. Extroverted & very opinionated. If you have that political correcteness & everything offends me mindset, then don't take his class. IT IS NOT FOR THE EMOTIONALLY WEAK.

Not an easy A, but if you're a good student he will definitely bump that 88% up to an A. All lectures are posted online. He makes what he's teaching interesting and memorable, which makes the tests a breeze. Definitely recommend this class!

Gerhardt gives 5 tests throughout the whole semester & assigns 1 project. HE GIVES YOU THE TEST QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS! Show up everyday, pay attention, take notes and you'll get an easy A. Tests are multiple choice (bring your own Scantron). He enjoys telling personal stories and giving nicknames to students. TAKE HIM, YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!

I appreciated his brutal honesty, his lectures were clear and I learned a lot, they were enjoyable-he always has a good story to share. People who take him to seriously are doing it wrong. Had him for Health 100 and easiest class ever. He gives you all the answers for tests while he lectures. He is VERY opinionated (sometimes sounds like he should be on Fox news) but he means well and you will have a fun time in the class.

Hugh is fantastic. He is super opinionated but passionate about what he is teaching. Has many non relevant stories but he makes class fun. Most exam questions are straight from the lecture. Book wasn't needed unless you miss class but the lectures are online too.

Professor Gerhardt is a really nice professor who doesn't take himself too seriously. He doesn't hold back any of his political views, but it truly makes his lectures more interesting and sometimes funny. His class consists of 5 multiple choice exams and a written Project which was extremely easy. Overall, take this class for an Easy A!

Hugh is super hilarious, his whole lecture feels like stand up comedy but he still gets the information you need across. Its not super difficult, he points out which questions will be on the test.

Laidback and fun class. I took it during summer session which I would recommend doing. He's very opinionated, but he truly wants for his students to succeed and learn something out of his class. Don't be afraid to participate in the exercises. Him and Taylor make it engaging.

I took the EME100 with Hugh Gerhardt and Scott Lawson. Mr. Gerhardt's teaching style is informative, quite humorous, and he is not Politically correct. To do well in EME100 advise you to acquire the textbooks, read the chapter(s) covered that day before the lesson (there are sometimes quizzes), and take notes. If you do that you'll be fine.

The tests are super easy

Professor Gerhardt is a really funny guy and makes his lectures very interesting. However, he has a tendency to use a lot of derogatory language. He is in no way "politically correct". Also, he does pop quizzes and randomly picks people out of the audience to answer the question. If you're wrong, he makes you either sing, dance, or do push-ups.

I love this teacher! I really wish I failed so I can take this class again. He always starts the day on a good note with music. Beware that he's deeply conservative, which I like. He gives the answers to the exam so there's no way that you can fail, unless you really put things off. He has some great quotes that I've picked up from him.

People who talk bad about him and think his jokes are obnoxious have no life. There was a person like that in my class too. He said offensive things to Gerhardt and he was asked to get out. At 24 I decided to go to college for the first time,& was pretty nervous. I am so grateful that I ended up with a teacher like Prof. Gerhardt because he made the class so fun & interesting, which really gave me the motivation to put forth my best effort. I would honestly consider taking another one of his classes just to have him as a teacher again

Gerhardt is pretty funny, makes up for his average teaching ability. Gives away numerous extra credit opportunities. The EME 100 class with both Gerhardt and Lawson is great, they make a good duo. Gerhardt provides comical relief and real-world experience while Lawson also has experience plus great teaching ability.

Gerhardt is a good teacher and is super funny. Gives you extra credit and basically gives you answers to the test in your notes. Print your notes before class and you barely have to do anything.

Some people say hes opinionated and his jokes arent funny but come on! This is college no one is gonna agree with you all the time, Welcome to the real world. All in all, hes funny, class is interesting, fun & Super easy to pass. Do not take this class if youre a little snowflake that easily gets easily offended or are close minded .

The online health 100 class is all about reading the textbook(seriously), participating in the weekly Canvas discussions, and taking the quizzes every Wednesday. Grading for the discussions is entirely subjective but as long as you follow directions, you'll get full credit. Professor has a good sense of humor, so make him laugh and you'll do well.
