This professors is easy. He cruve your exam. He drop two of your lowest quiz score. The concept is not that hard if you study.
Teaches to the point. Great examples. No surprises on what MIGHT be on the test- teaches you everything you need. easy class if you pay attention even a little. Teaches a bit different than the book, but still works
Quizzes are over half of your grade. LOTS OF HOMEWORK. Quizzes are VERY hard as well as tests. He lets you have notes but they are only so helpful. He cares about his students & wants his students to get good grades. Although he is a good teacher the class is really hard!
he is by far the best teacher i've had at csus. .the class is really hard if you hate math/accy but its worth taking this prof. He grades tests on a curve. quizes are hard but you can use a note sheet. (final/midterm too) he offers a lot of practice quizes/handouts. he describes the material well but its just a hard subject. . offers extra credit!
This is a really hard class, and the professor is a tough grader-especially with homework. He gives you the tools you'll need to pass; it's up to you to utilize them. He's very nice and is willing to help. Just put in the work
good teacher. homework is hard, he wants you to learn. ask for cheat sheets on quizzes they really help! can't wing the quizzes
Very good professor. If you have trouble with homework he will help you & give you the answers before it is due. Half your grade is based on homework. Final is not comprehensive. Highly recommend this professor.
Very good professor!.. turn in your homework!!.. gives out quizes for every chapter but that helps you better understand the chapter. Always willing to help and helps you on your homework
Finals are easy. Quiz and Homework are combined grade.
He is a very good, easy, and fun professor. You wont ever be bored in his class because he makes it fun and easy and you actually learn a lot.
Nice guy but not a very good teacher. No conceptual/theory whatsoever. Entire class are examples on the overhead projector which don't prepare you very well for quizes. HW is easy, but it doesn't prepare you for quiz either. You'll think you're prepared and the tests will be NOTHING like the HW and quiz, cuz he will ask stuff never covered.
Excellent professor. Consistent, organized [unfortunately mandatory] lectures. Downside is that he's monotonous. If you understand his lectures and do the practice quizzes and homework, the class is easy. But he assigns two chapters every two weeks followed by two quizzes, which kind of sucks, but it works I guess.
Great Prof
His policy is such! A lot of work and everything is graded on computer. Quizes are supper supper long and supper supper hard. He saiheld do hw will help you on quiz but actualy it only helps 30%. You must read the book and do hw on your own to prepare quizes. Doesn't know how to teach much. Only resolve some problems he makes.
His tests are extremely hard and is irrelevant to the lectures which makes it even harder. if you're like me who needs someone to carefully teach u materials that will be included on tests, avoid this prof!
I managed to get an A but with great difficulties! HW is easy. 1 extra credit. Midterm and Quizzes are TOTALLY irrelevant to lectures! HW and Textbook doesn't help much on quizzes either. GOOD LUCK!
Pforsich actually taught me something about accounting... Overall this class is a lot of work, so know that you will spend a lot of time on it. Tests are not easy, homework is just checked for completion, not right or wrong answers.
Attendance was not mandatory. The instructor gives plenty of extra credit and opportunity to get a good grade A/B. just do all the homework and assignments. If you are not going to attend the class check your mail periodically he is know for making changes in due dates that can hurt if you miss out. otherwise easy A for accounting majors.
The lectures are easy to follow, however the quizzes, midterm and final exam are all online. He does have all the in-class handouts you will need online. I didn't care for the timed, generic textbook-style questions. Thank goodness I'm not an accounting major.
If you are not that great at accounting and are more of a visual person i would totally take this professor! He made things much clearer and was really fair with grading. I am so glad i took this class because i actually learned from him when i usually find myself unable to comprehend accounting.
Class is fair. He gives out alot of homework. Quiz every saturday. If you don't understand the material you will do horribly on the quiz and the homework. Sad thing is if you do bad on those most likely you will not pass because quiz and homework combine is more than half of your grade. one midterm one final. midterm has nothing to do with quizzes.
Professor Pforsich is a very dull lecturer. I had class at 7:30 in the morning and he would lecture AT us, and not involve the class. Watched videos on Monday, and lecture on Wednesday, but he would take roll on Wednesdays. Quizzes every week and homework assignments online. On extra credit, 2 tests (all conceptual)
Pretty straight forward prof/class. Do the work and pass the class
If you can teach yourself, take this class. His teaching style is very linear - gives too many examples instead of actually showing HOW to do problems. Homework is different than the quizzes, quizzes are different from the exams, etc. He exemplifies the old adage: those who cannot do TEACH. Well, unfortunately he can't teach either.
This class is no joke! Lots of work required, especially if you aren't great at accounting. HOWEVER, this instructor is very helpful! He really wants you to succeed. In the middle of the semester he asks you to review the class and ask what he can do to improve it. Hard class, but great instructor! I highly recommend!
Although not listed, this is a hybrid class. Only 1 lecture a week, forces a lot of work on you outside the classroom. Expect 4ish hours per week on HW and weekly quizzes, going over exam material etc. Textbook is needed to gain access to HW. Midterms are all concept based. Quizzes slightly overlap lecture material, lots of self-teaching
There are not many people that can get up at 7:30 AM, and teach such a complicated subject like cost accounting. Dr. Pforsich pulls it off, and he'll also give you free points for just showing up. This man is known to curve tests, if students as a whole do poorly. Extra credit worth 2/3 a grade is given. Anyone not happy with this style is a Moloch
He was a great teacher, really helpful when you had questions and the tests weren't to bad. I would highly recommend him despite the 7:30 am class.
This guy does not answer emails.
hated the 730 class. could use older version of the text. class was easy to follow however when class was held, he went over what was on the online video. but he also answered alot of good questions. just wished the class started later in the day. overall he is alright not the best.
You watch vdeo lectures 1 day per week so he doesn't have to teach as much. The other day he brings printouts from the solution manual and transcribes the solutions to your HW onto the overhead. Makes you sign up for the textbook website (where you do all your HW, quizzes & tests) so he doesn't have to grade anything. Kind of lazy & boring.
Took the 7.30am hybrid class. Homework was online. Attending class was mandatory coz he used to take attendace.Helpful professor.Offered extra credit to.
He explains very clearly, especially in his online videos. I took the 7:30am hybrid class and he didn't make me fall asleep! He is very nice and he drops your lowest 2 or 3 quizzes, and as long as you get 80% on the hw (with infinite tries) you get full points on it. If you do the work, it is a pretty straight-forward class. He is one of the best!
Hybrid 7:30am Wednesdays. If you can't show up every day, don't take this class. He takes attendance and takes points off for not showing up and even more for not finishing LearnSmart before class. But the class is well taught.
Quizzes and Homeworks are weighted the same- due every saturday on connect. Attendance at 730 is mandatory. At the end he said if his class average wasn't 75%, he was going to give points to make it so. He goes over how to do quizzes but everything is pretty easy. No + or - so you receive a solid letter grade. Highly recommended.
I hated this professor. Quizzes and homework every week on connect. His quizzes are not like HW, and exams are not like quizzes. His exams are pretty hard. There are no + or - . Take another professor if you can.
Weekly assignment includes learnsmart, homework, and quiz. Basically, you teach yourself. However, this is an easy class. He curves exam to make class average of 75% , allows cheat sheet, and offers extra credit. What I hate about this class? It's too early and mandatory attendance.
ACCY 121 is just a hard class. Prof grades fairly on a curve. Attendance is mandatory. Weekly quizzes and homework but drops lowest 2. Exams are conceptual so reading and understanding how the information flows is critical to doing well on exams. Show up, do the homework and quizzes and study for the exams and you should be able to pass this class
good lectures, walks you through problems, attendance mandatory you will need to go to understand material. his videos are helpful, curves fairly provides extra credit connect is not forgiving and the quiz can run out of time real quick take excellent notes in excel and READ the book, create spreadsheets of each ch. hw question to use on quiz
Do the all hw and quizzes! They're a benefit to your overall grade. Core of the class is self-taught. Content is very difficult for me at least. Pforisch cost accounting, you cant simply just spend couple of min and be done with. It's a very time consuming class. Uses Mcgrawhill for grading & I hate that thing to death-very strict grading numbers
Pretty Good Prof. Very nice guy and helpful if you go to office hours. Better make class because he takes attendance. My complaint is the textbook used for this class is not very good. The book, homework, quizzes, and exams are not alike, which makes this class confusing. Need a better text-book with better examples and illustrations.
Very hard material and coursework is even harder. Quizzes are not anything similar to exams, you have to actually read the textbook in order to do well! Responds to e-mails promptly, offers extra credit and curves.
Take his hybrid class, homework is ok, but the exam is not like homework and quizz. Never respond emails though.
I hated accounting 1, so I thought this class would be horrid. It wasn't. He does give you a lot of weekly work such as online hw, quiz and learnsmart, but they're no that bad. His midterm and final have nothing to do with what he teaches in class tho. He teaches everything with numbers/formulas, but his tests don't have a single number problem.
Prof. Pforsich is by far one of my favorite accounting professors! His criteria is clear, and if you pay attention in lecture, the homework & quizzes ( both online), will be an easy A. His study guides for his only (2) in class Exams, are not helpful. They are only learning objectives, it would be really helpful to have practice questions
GREAT prof. Clear expectations from day 1. Hybrid class so we only went to lecture 1x a week. Takes points off if you miss lect. so attend if you want an A. Connect HW & Quiz due every Sat. night. Learnsmart due every Wed. morning before class. Set alarms & you wont fail. Testshard but SUPER curved+offers extra credit. SO organized, my dream prof.
Meet once a week, lectures are online videos, in class we do example problems. Weekly hw (can retake and get answers) and quiz (80min, 1 chance) on Connect. Exams are conceptual, quizzes are like the in class problems. Drops 2 lowest chapters (hw & quiz combined) and no more class starting Thanksgiving week. Can google quiz questions. Very easy!
Hybrid. Online hw & multiple choice quiz every week - calculations. 1 midterm, 1 final - conceptual, no calculations. 1 EC opportunity near end of semester. Hw & quizzes will be challenging b/c of different formats of problems and long questions. Prof is good at explaining things. It's easy to forget stuff b/c you focus on a new thing every week.
Great Professor. Very approcahble guy and he wants everyone to pass his class. Had him twice for 2 business classes. Connect hw and quizzes due every Sunday that are easy. Make a consistent schedule to do everything on time and youll be fine. Knows his material and is a great teacher. Take notes and do the extra credit. It helps!!!
hybrid class. Online test and homework every week. As long as you go to class and follow along the problems he goes through then you should be fine for the test. Online test consists of actually doing the problem, Midterm and Final are mostly concepts.
You go in with an A and your entire grade is based on a learning journal that he grades and never returns to you. Watch out, you will be in for a nasty shock.
I took his hybrid ACCY 121 course, and he was absolutely amazing teaching it. The lectures were hands on demonstrations of quiz problems and he put out a 30 minute online video every week to help you study the next chapter. The class was super hard, but professor Pforsich made it very understandable. Plus he curves the exams so thats always nice.
Great professor! I would recommend Professor Pforsich to each student needing to take Accounting 2 (Managerial Accounting) at Sacramento State. The course involves 1 midterm, 1 final, 9 online quiz/homework, and 11 chapter LearnSmarts. You can use an 8.5 by 11-inch cheat sheet during exams and he will drop 2 low quiz/homework scores. Extra Credit.
Hands down the best professor I have taken at Sac State (including my undergrad). I love the structure and clear grading criteria. Lectures are engaging and interesting and he uses real life examples which are great. It is very clear what is expected of you and as long as you follow his guidelines you will be just fine.
The exams were the hardest thing ever so study everything & truly understand the material. The quizzes & hw wasn't too bad; I used chegg & course hero when needed. Attendance is MANDATORY. The worst thing about this is his lectures are super dry & boring. He posts all his lectures online anyway but you need to show up to class to get points for it.
2 exams & can use a handwritten double-sided cheat sheet. Exams were super hard. Quizzes & HW were not that bad. He drops the lowest 2. Extra Credit at the end of the semester is offered. Attendance is mandatory for points. He posts lecture videos on his website & review HW & Quiz questions in class.
Took him when he taught one semester at Sierra College. He was a good instructor and was very understanding and helpful.
Run away from this guy. He hides behind a screen, posts lecture videos, online homework and quizzes are okay easy but damn those two exams. He tests all theory multiple choice for a Accounting class which I don't understand. Not very enthusiastic about teaching either. You will pass but won't learn anything at all.
Good lecturer and willing to work with students in extenuating circumstances.
He is a solid choice for this class. 2 exams, homework for almost every chapter. When we went online since the Covid issue he dropped our final exam. So it was a nice reliever honestly. If he is teaching this class take him because he is the better/solid choice if you don't want a stressful class
I took ACCY 141 in summer 2020. It was an online class. Pro, Pforsich gave us two projects. He was very caring and gave good feed backs. Homework was unlimited. You can get full points if you try multi times. 8 chapters with homework. Easy A.
This class is hard and fastpaced but its the same layout every week: lecture, discussion(on packback which you have to pay to join) hw, quiz, smartbook, and watch some videos. You basically have to teach yourself. The pros are that theres no tests or final and its only 11 weeks rather than 15. he is helpful but doesn't accept late work
Ended up being a hybrid online class. No final. Doesn't grade on participation but there's points given out/deducted for attendance. Easily accessible through email outside of class. No actual purchase of textbook but purchase of online resources (Packback & InQuizitive). Checklist every week of assignments and weekly chapter quiz. Lots of reading
Took this class over summer, and I would say try to get started on the first project ASAP!! He will give you feedback on what to fix but the longer you wait the longer he will take to reply, after the project the rest of the semester is a breeze, so stick through it even tho the first project is time consuming
Professor Pforsich is great. I took ACCY266 Spring 2022. Alot of materials to read and formulas to practice, do your practice quizzes as many as you need, analyze and try to understand the explanations from the practice quizzes including the incorrect answers then you should be ok.
hybrid class, mandatory attendance worth 10 peent. every chatper has a weekly hw and hour long "quiz". hw is an easy 100, the quiz needs studying for since it is calculations. there are two exams only about conceptual topics. just focus on hw and get a 30 percent avg on exams and youre fine. also offers EC
He is reasonable and willing to work with you to make you understand the homework. Lot of quizzes and writing.
Hybrid + Attendance. Prerecorded lectures. Expected to print (or use electronics) all handouts (All about math); 4-6+ pages/week. Not an easy A. Smartbook + hws + weekly quizzes (all due Sunday nights). 1 midterm (curved) + final exam (Both based on concepts; NO math). EC opportunity @ end of semester (towards final exam). Overall, good professor.
boring class, if you're not a visual learner who likes pictures and graphs instead of formulas and concepts his lectures dont really help. Attendance is mandatory even though he pretty much just goes over problems step by step which he does in the exact same way online in his videos but - points if you skip evn 1 class. Hw is excessive/unnecessary
Lectures straightforward. Homework is highly time-consuming and takes about 3 hours for the task itself. Quizzes every week. Lecture videos are attached to the canvas, but the course grade is not. Professor uploads a sheet of the grades for everyone every week. Two exams, and the rest is based on coursework. Classes are on Wednesdays only.
attendance points, drops the lowest quiz and HW, 40 pts EC, curves the midterm and final if class avg
Class was alright and can be boring and very straight forward, the HW was long every week 3-5 hours, only 1 midterm and 1 final. A lot of concepts to grasp but overall just an okay experience.
Professor Pforsich prioritizes his students' success and is committed to ensuring everyone passes. Class operates asynchronously, requiring attendance only once a week counting towards grade. Your grade is based on your best 10 homework and 10 quiz scores & 2 exams. Exams focus on concepts without involving numerical or mathematical calculations.
The class was considered hybrid, but the one day a week in-person was only to ask for help on assignments or projects. There were no lectures and attendance was highly optional. There was one project at the beginning of the semester which is the most time consuming and one at the end which isn't too bad if you know Access. 3 exams online from text.
Class only met once a week. There was a smart book, hw, and quiz each week. Most of the class wasn't crazy difficult but towards the end I felt like there was a lot of random assumptions that were not taught or discussed which really hurt my grade. Hw is often 2 hours and professor will help if you email him but he starts reply slowly later on
No issues with the professor he was nice and easy to understand I do recommend taking him. Attendance was mandatory, in class we would just watch him work through problems similar to HW. If you clearly understood ACCY1 this should be an easy class for you. A lot of online homework and quizzes. One midterm multiple choice and same for the final.
This professor is very boring. He teaches his MBA class as he would an undergrad.. as if we know nothing. It's very hard to sit in his class .
He gives you weekly quizzes that are insanely difficult, and he will give you practice quizzes that do not match the difficulty or the questions that are on the quizzes. His Lectures and homework do not match what is on the quizzes either. The only saving grace is that he curves his midterm and final so the class average is 75%.
This semester is the first he decided to give weekly quizzes. Awful. He turned class hybrid by showing us practice problems for an hour that don't apply to the quizzes/hw at all and then you have 5 days to teach yourself the rest. I like accounting and I did well in ACCY 1, but this class structure makes it so much harder than it needs to be.
He gave us quizzes every week that by themselves were not terribly difficult. What made it worse was that he would provide us with practice quizzes that were nothing like the quizzes and had nothing to do with the lectures. He would also only lecture on wednesday so youre getting only 1 lecture per week. He made it way harder then it had to be.
Matierial itself is not that bad or difficult but the structre of his class makes it so difficult. This is the first semester he decided to give weekly in person quizzes and it was clear he didn't know what he was doing. The matierial from class did not line up with what was on the quizzes and the practice tests he gave were no help.
Like everyone is saying, the format of his class makes it so much harder. The quizzes he gives out do not correlate with the lectures or homework. The practice quizzes don't help. His midterm and final are conceptual but he gives you close to nothing to go off of.
class was pretty easy considering the amount of material covered test every Monday and all you have to do is study his handout from Wednesday. Like i said its easy if you actually attend class its a super easy course.
Despite what people say about Professor Pforsich, I think his format of a high intensity, work-dense course really expedites learning the most important and core ideas of Accounting. He provides a myriad of self-made and online resources along with rewatchable lectures to make sure that no matter what, as long work is put in, success is guaranteed.
He's a solid professor but he makes you work a lot to get a passing grade. Chapter tests every week on calculation problems and they are difficult and will drop the two lowest ones. Tons of homework and a midterm and final the midterm was curved but final is not. Do the extra credit before the final cause that'll help you. Attendance is mandatory
