talks VERY fast
Young, passionate, kind... What more can I say. He is my fav. econ prof at Emory.
He's a very young prof with a lot of passion. You can tell he did spend a lot of time prepare teaching, and there're always some interesting examples in class. I like him ALOT!!
Very nice guy!
Very smart, very nice guy. Pretty wonkish, but is also extremely helpful during office hours.
He's extremely helpful during office hour.
You HAVE TO take his class. He is so enthusiastic about the class material. And you can tell that he knows extremely well about the material. He is the BEST professors I have met in Emory.
he's the man. funny, chill, and an totally reasonable grader
He's an awesome professor who really cares about his students. He grades exams fairly and really prepares you well for the exams. Sometimes he goes really fast through a class, but he'll go over the material in the next one. Definitely take his class.
worst teacher ever. talks like a politician so he says stuff but they dont mean anything. takes him forever to explain a concept that can be explained in 10 seconds. his tests are harder than the other econ teacher. dont take him
Great professor. Highly recommend him. Very nice and helpful. He curves you up if he sees you've improved from your last exam. Always willing to help and go the extra mile. Does speak a little fast. Definitely recommend him. Make sure to do the hw problems and review the class probs for exams!
By far the nicest Emory Prof I've met. Grades leniently and is passionate about the subject material. He does talk too fast but makes an effort to write class notes down slower. He learned all 100 something Micro 101 students' names in the first month, and says "Bless You" to every person who sneezes during his lecture.
Very helpful and patient
amazing teacher. thanks you for coming to class everyday even though it isnt mandatory. grades so leniently. even when you get an entire question wrong hell give you at least half partial credit.
Very engaging and tries to make lecture as fun as possible. Great professor, highly recommend.
amazing professor. very enthusiastic and great at lecturing. He does care about his students. test are not too difficult and he does give out partial credits pretty generously.
He's really enthusiastic about the material, and although he goes a little fast, it's pretty clear. Also a pretty easy grader for exams
Professor Mialon sped through the material. His teaching methods are definitely questionable. A nice man, but its rather hard to keep up with him.
He is very enthusiastic about the class. He cares about the subject and students. Easy grader when it comes to giving points out but the class is difficult no doubt and the new dept curve doesn't help. He speaks very quickly and often times makes the subject matter harder than it needs to be.
One of the nicest teachers. Very patient with students and generous with partial credit on exams. Explains everything enthusiastically and clearly.
Very enthusiastic and always willing to help his students outside of class. Class itself is somewhat challenging but if you do all your homework and take good notes, it's quite doable!
Class was extremely entertaining. Lectures were always very informative and interesting. Definitely learned a LOT of material. Unfortunately the tests are unnecessarily hard, probably because of the class curve, but Mialon genuinely cares about his students and gives lots of partial credit.
Super enthusiastic and entertaining. Tests have homework problems, but then have two tough questions, but he is the most generous partial credit grader ever. Take his class!
Best Professor ever! Nicest guy ever! He is extremely passionate and very approachable. He never gets mad. His class is understandable and helpful! You will LOVE him!
Super approachable but he is not very clear on what he expects. Do the homework because thats where the tests come from.
Greatest professor ever!!! He is very nice and helpful. He teach Econ in a fun and useful way!!! Definitely take his class!!!!!!
Mialon is one of the nicest professors at Emory. His lectures are fairly interesting and exams are similar to lecture notes and homework problems. Definitely recommend him!
He is awesome. His lectures are fun and didactic. He will help you whenever you need.
He is very helpful. But tests seem harder than his lectures.
Great lectures! Really patient with students (just very nice overall) His tests aren't easy, but if you study for them, you should get what you want. (pretty fair tests)- you should review your homework and lecture notes
Not the greatest professor. He never collects any of the homework, but if you don't do the homeworks, you won't do well on the exams. His lectures are boring and he barely covers essential material. The final exam was 40% of your grade, but only 5 questions. He literally sets everyone up for failure. Don't take this class. Take Bus-Econ.
Great teacher. Incredibly interested in the material and used great examples to support his concepts. Cares about his students and very helpful in office hours. He is also really funny and makes you crack up many times throughout class. His tests are tough, but he got me to care about economics which is what really matters. Strongly recommend.
Pretty good professor, interested in helping everyone. Tests are pretty difficult, but if you're trying hard you should be fine.
Always an interesting and fun class. However, he moves very fast paced and his tests are extremely challenging. He does give partial credit!
Best teacher ever.
This is amazing class and better not miss it!
Professor Mialon is a great teacher. He is very enthusiastic every class and is always willing to take the time and explain a concept, even if it is only one person in a lecture of 150 that does not understand. He is available during his office hours and truly takes the time to get to know his students.
While he only teaches big lecture classes, he does a great job of making the class seem a lot smaller, and is an excellent lecturer. Some very funny moments, and tries his hardest to make the most out of the class he teaches. Go to office hours so he knows who you are.
Mialon really is hilarious. He's mostly a really lovable dork, and you can tell he really cares about his job and his students. He always asks how he can be a better professor, what he can do to make our lives easier, and is just genuinely an amazing professor. I find myself coming to class just for him and less so for the subject. Take him!
Very engaging and great lecturer but tests are confusing and extrapolate information given in class. If you understand the material you will do well easily but by no means an easy A
Hugo Mialon is the bomb. Each of his lectures is like sitting down to watch a movie. He is an entertainer and a profound speaker. His examples apply directly to issues students care about while also illustrating economic concepts perfectly. Milan is one of the rare professors who really is worth the high price of tuition.
Quirky and hilarious, comes up with entertaining examples, explains concepts well, grades leniently but gives tough tests.
Good professor. It's wise to go to office hours so he knows your face. He teaches large classes so it's best. Pretty good guy. No mandatory homework but you'll want to do it because he takes many hw questions and puts them on the test. Funny guy.
Hugo is a very genuine and down to earth professor. He really cares about his students' happiness, therefore, he makes his tests as fair as possible without making them so easy that you don't have to work for the class. Some of the questions are directly from the textbook. Also, there's lots of partial credit. Lovely man, I would take him again!
Dr. Mialon has an amazing personality and is the best lecturer I have ever had. He is respectful and always there for you when you need his help. The material he teaches is very applicable to real life and he explains tough concepts very simply. He is a very well rounded professor.
Amazing professor. Nothing more to say.
Professor Mialon is an amazing professor. He is genuine, respectable, and makes his lectures incredibly interesting by teaching material applicable to real life and by explaining tough concepts very simply. He really cares about his students' happiness so he makes his tests as fair as possible. I would 100% recommend him.
Awesome professor. I got a B in his class, but it was completely my fault. If you do what he asks of you and practice the problems he gives out you will get an A. A lot of times the test questions are simply homework problems with the number changed.
Great guy who genuinely cares about his students and their success. Personally didn't think he was the greatest lecturer bc he sometimes rambles and can be hard to follow, but is always very accessible for office hours. Tests are challenging but he grades very VERY VERY leniently. Focus heavily on the problems he gives you from HW / notes.
Dr. Mialon is by far the best teacher I've had in my 2 yrs. he cares so much about his students and their success. All of his exams are straight from the homework, so as long as you do those you'll be guaranteed a good grade/ Also a great trial class to see if you're interested in econ/bus. don't miss an opportunity to take this teacher!
By far the best teacher I've had at Emory! Enthusiastic about the material, made us feel like he was on our side, and cared about our success. He's funny and down to earth, and he is definitely worth taking! If you do the practice exams, you will make at least a B. He gives an extra credit paper worth 3 points on your final grade.
The best prof I've ever seen! Very good lectures! Makes it easy to understand hard definitions in economics. Very caring and answer all questions in class or during office hours. He is so nice and hot! As long as you follow him and do the home work, although it's not required, easy A!
Professor Mialon was simply amazing! He provided good, clear lectures that added a personal touch. Although he has many students, he most definitely cares about each one of them. Put in the work, and you will succeed! Very fair, very inspiring, great overall.
Great professor who really cares about his students! I absolutely loved his class and would strongly recommend it! His tests are basically all the homework and practice problems so do them even if they are not mandatory.
Hugo Mialon is by far one of the best professors at Emory. An amazing attribute of his is that he truly cares about each one of his students and will take time out of his day to help you. Tests are directly from the homework, and every example he uses in class is directly in the textbook. Amazing guy, wouldn't miss a chance to take a class of his
Great guy!
He is well respected in Economics department but try to avoid taking class with him. His grading became harsh recently and I regret not taking with other professors.
Hugo is a funny, caring and enthusiastic professor. Explains concepts well and is always willing to help. Tests come straight from the homework and in-class examples. Cares a lot about economics and by the end of the semester, you will too. Very interesting lectures.
Great professor.
Prof. Mialon has the ability to engage a lecture size of 200+ at all times, and also maintain personal connections with most students. I had never taken econ before and now love the class. The tests are fair and the class is not that hard to do well in. IT IS FAIR. Hugo is the best professor at Emory. EVERYONE SHOULD TAKE HIM!!!!!!!!
He is really funny and engaging in class, however very cold and not helpful during office hours. Tests receive partial credit, which is very nice, but be prepared to read the textbook.
Prof. Mialon is a really great guy. A very engaging lecturer as well. I didn't get to know him as well as I should have, and wish I went to office hours more frequently. Tests are fair and he gives a ton of partial credit. Overall, just a really good guy and a fun class.
Amazing professor. Because of his class and his guidance, I want to be an econ major now. His lectures are super interesting and his tests are not hard if you do your homeowrk. Would HIGHLY recommend
His lectures are not that helpful, but if you meet with him outside of class, he will answer all of your questions very well. Attendance is not mandatory, but for a total of 8 classes, he will randomly hand out an attendance sheet so make sure you don't miss it.
Dr. Mialon is a wonderful professor and he made his lecture very interesting. Definitely worth it!
Nice guy but mediocre professor at best. Talks really fast and writes incomprehensibly on slides. You don't really need to show up as long as you do the homework problems he assigns--he straight up those problems on his midterms while he never actually talks about what problems he expects us to be able to do in class.
one of the best lecturers I've ever had, really enjoyed my time in the class
Hugo's lectures were truly engaging. He is uplifting and always applies problems to greater world issues. He is also very accessible and supportive during office hours. The tests are really fair and are based on homework problems (he also gives partial credit). Hugo is definitely a must-take professor and really connects with his students!
Hugo is a fantastic professor who made me believe in Emory Universities standing and remember why I chose to come here. His lectures are easy to follow along with and the enthusiasm he projects towards economics is unmatched by any other professor at this school. I had an awesome experience in his class and highly recommend you take his micro101
Hugo is great, micro is not
I had a really good experience with micro. Definitely go through the hw multiple times and reach out to TAs/ Dr. Mialon during office hours, and you should be fine!
Lectures are easy to listen to. Professor is always in a good mood and is funny. Hugo is understanding and fair.
Class was not easy because I was not an econ/math major so I had to put a lot of effort but for those who are good with math, you're good. AND the professor is really nice and easy to talk to. Always remember to go to his office hours because they are really helpful and he is always willing to listen and help you out.
He is one of the best teachers I've ever had. He teaches in a variety of ways using real-life examples to make it easy to understand. Nevertheless, the class is very big, so it is easy to get distracted.
Prof. Mialon gives hilarious examples in class and applies it to economic principles. I thought of them while taking tests which helped me a lot. Wonderful guy overall, treated me kindly even when I asked dumb questions.
One of the best professors Emory has to offer - knowledgeable and caring
If you trying to pass Econ 101, Hugo is your guy. If your trying to get an A, take Shomu. You need a 96 percent to get an A in this class. That is virtually IMPOSSIBLE given the fact that the entire grade depends on two midterms and a final. There's no homework grade or anything like that to help, unlike in Shomu's class. Very nice guy though.
He is an amazing professor. I was inspired to major in Economics because of him.
Dr. Mialon is a great professor who goes beyond what is expected. Although the homework is optional, it is highly recommended that you do it as this is primarily what the exams are based on. Since the exams are relatively easy, getting an A is hard (96%) unless you show up to class and do the extra-credit paper.
Hugo's a great and caring guy, and very happy and willing to help you if you reach out to him. However if you aren't an Econ/math major, this class is by no means easy. Your grade is based on 3 tests and you need a 96 to get an A. Virtually no grade boosters unlike some other Econ101 profs
Great professor, but very difficult to get an A because you need at least a 96%
Fun and relaxing class. Prof. Mialon is so energetic and enthusiastic about teaching all the time. Paying attention in lectures and doing homeworks (not a lot) help you prepare for the tests. You get to learn introductory microeconomics without stressing about assignments and demanding tests.
Hugo is a decent guy but the class is really hard. He is very available and makes things clear. He gives lots of partial credit on tests which are really hard and sometimes not relevant to material learned in class. A hard class but I would take again.
Prof Mialon is a great, lowkey, and chill guy. He really wants his students to succeed; rather than teach for the test, he wants them to understand the material. The first two midterms are not too bad. He wants you to show him you got the basics. The Final is definitely much harder, but still very doable and reasonable. A low-stress class.
Professor Hugo is one of the best professors that I've had in Emory. He is such a great teacher and also a very nice guy to talk to. He made me feel more confident about economics and take every midterm that didn't go too well with a grain of salt. He encouraged me to pursue an economics major. I really like his enthusiasm during office hours.
Beware of the partner paper a literal nightmare. Hugo is a super sweet and caring guy, but his lectures can be a little scattered. Going to office hours really helps. Has made a couple questionable comments but overall a solid choice for micro. Nearly impossible to get an A, though
Mialon really cares about his students and their success. His tests are straightforward, and if you do the homework and pay attention in class, youll do fine. One of my easiest classes. Mialon teaches in a very intuitive way also.
Professor Milan is very passionate about economics and is an okay lecturer. Can't say I enjoyed the class though. His class is only graded by a few assignments, so you have to do well on everything to get an A. Advice: sit in the front, otherwise it's very challenging to keep focus and follow along with what he's saying.
Dr. Mialon is fantastic!! His lectures were thought-provoking, and he was always willing to discuss topics further in his office hours. Slides and examples were made available after class sessions. Homeworks weren't mandatory, but they were CRUCIAL practice for quizzes and exams. I absolutely loved this class!!
Very passionate professor who really cares. However, your entire grade is just a paper, midterm and final, which is all short answer questions! Be careful, because on our final, each question was worth around 6% of our final grade. Getting an A is very difficult.
Dr. Mialon is a great professor and makes it clear what is necessary to do well in the class. I had him for a virtual semester and it was telling of his him as a professor the way he made class engaging and personal. He is also available outside the classroom.
Prof. Mialon is a wonderful professor - his priority is ensuring that students understand and enjoy the concepts and is willing to meet students' needs to achieve this. I fully recommend Dr. Mialon for any students taking Econ 101 and those interested in the Econ and associated majors!
I was 0.6% away from getting an A, but it was a generally nice experience. I think he is the best prof for the 101 course, and he is the chair of undergrad Econ at Emory too. He teaches Econ as a social science but not a STEM subject, which I really appreciated. I smelled the sense of social science on his classtruly rare at Emory.
some pop quizzes but he actually announced them all. graded only by 2 midterms but was saved by the paper. he is nice and cares just talk to him about anything lol. he remembers everyone which is nice. I will say if the paper wasn't there it would be worse,,, the reading is NOT relevant to the exams but he gives partial credit. good option for econ
This class was perfect for me because of my health issues, and Professor Mialons flexibility with them. Hes super understanding, and hes such a great and interactive teacher. I absolutely loved him and 10/10 would take again!
Totally recommend taking Professor Mialon. He is very flexible with attendance because he records his lectures and has a large class. He is very enthusiastic about what he teaches, which makes his lectures entertaining. His grading is very fair and you will get what you put in, effort-wise.
Dr. Mialon is one of my favorite professors at Emory - his lectures are engaging and really make you think, and grading is pretty straight forward if you do the reading and optional homework. 11/10 would recommend :)
Wonderful, inspirational professor and my favorite professor I have had at Emory University. Very understanding, accessible, and was a great introduction to economics.
I absolutely loved Hugo. He is hilarious, respectable, and a very thoughtful teacher. It's clear he cares deeply about his student's success. I have nothing negative to say... do yourself a favor and take a class with him!
Dr. Mialon is very personable and accessible outside of class. In class he just goes over a bunch of examples, and sometimes goes off on tangents but going to class is helpful. The midterm and final are manageable and he makes expectations pretty clear. His office hours are also helpful, as is reading the textbook. He also gives like no homework.
Professor Mialon is super nice! Econ 101 is an intro class to the field, and Professor Mialon explains the concepts in a thoughtful and humorous way. He is caring, patient, and wonderful. The test is straightforward, and lots of the questions come from class exercises and homework. Fully recommended, 10 out of 10!
Professor Mialon is exceptionally kind and always accessible to students. Lectures are entertaining, thought-provoking, and can be genuinely hilarious. Exams are very fair and heavily draw from homework and in-class examples. Dr. Mialon is always there after class to answer questions, and I recommend doing so if you are confused.
Professor Mialon is just phenomenal. His lectures are very clear, interesting, and inspiring. I really learned a lot both academically and life-wise in his class. One thing I wish could be changed is that two tests and a group paper are 85% of the grades so you don't get a single chance to mess up, otherwise you really shouldn't miss out on him.
Dr. Mialon is incredibly accessible outside of class, which is very helpful because sometimes his lectures are a bit confusing. He assigns optional homework that is really helpful for tests and quizzes. The paper is graded pretty fairly, and is fine if you have a good group. He also gives a ton of partial credit on all of his tests which is great.
Professor Mialon makes microeconomics interesting and relatively simple through his exciting lectures. A handful of assignments determines the final grade; however, the tests are very fair if you do the homework. Take a course with Professor Mialon if you are interested in economics!
Professor Mialon is awesome! He really wants his students to succeed and responds to emails within minutes. His lectures are super interesting and his quizzes/tests are very fair. If you keep up with the weekly homework and pay attention in class you'll be completely fine!
Could not recommend him enough! Attendance is not mandatory, he cares about students, and he makes microeconomics really simple and accessible. He follows a textbook and all of his tests come directly from practice problems. Take his class as a great intro!
Professor Mialon is an extremely caring professor that works hard to make sure that his students have a good experience. He always makes himself available outside of class and it is not incredibly hard to get a good grade. A lot of his test questions are copied from the homework, so if you do it you will succeed in Econ 101.
Amazing lectures, encourages engagement, and cares about students. He took photos of everyone and memorized 100+ names throughout the semester. Some problems on the test can be difficult but most of the content are covered in the lectures and he guides the class through many practice problems. Practically made me pursue an econ major.
I loved ECON 101 with Professor Mialon. I took him first semester freshman year, and he was my favorite professor at Emory. Everything in the class was explained well, and he would take the time to explain it if not. Make sure to write the group paper with attention to the rubric, and it should be an easy A. Definitely would recommend!
He's a nice cheery person who wants you to succeed. Makes himself available often. Course is fairly straightforward intro microeconomics. Homework is optional but come prepared for pop quizzes, which are short and simple. Midterm/final were graded somewhat leniently. The one paper is graded tough, but there's a rubric. Some extra credit was given.
Dr. Mialon is so amazing. He is a great professor and he cares about his students. He does practice problems as the whole lecture which is helpful for exams. Dr. Mialon is also hilarious and his class was always enjoyable. He made me want to pursue economics. The exams are like the homework and you should follow the rubric closely for the paper.
Prof. Mialon is a very nice person, and he is always there to support and encourage you. Exams are fine, but the group paper is awful. The TA was such a harsh grader and took out lots of points for grammar, which is ridiculous. Your grade would drop by a letter grade if your group did bad on the paper, even if your part was well written.
Great professor and lecturer. Helpful during office hours and caring. Only thing that makes the class challenging is the group paper, which can hurt your grade if other people in your group don't care.
Was doing great in the class with an A+. Grading criteria for the final group paper was nonexistent. Tanked half our grades. Lectures are kind of boring because of the lack of actual conceptual content
Dr. Mialon is a really fun lecturer and a caring guy! Even though the class was big he got to know us during office hours. Grades are the 2 midterms, the quizzes, and the paper which is not a lot. Paper grading is kinda unclear but I think it was a TA the year i did it. he's always willing to answer questions and the last few quizzes are freebies.
Hugo is a legend. His lectures are usually great and filled with passion. He makes you interested in whatever topic he is talking about. It can be boring at times but overall a great class with a great prof. Would recommend.
Prof. Mialon is an interesting and funny guy. His lectures can be entertaining but a lot of the time are boring and don't do a great job explaining the material. However, he is kind and gives A TON of partial credit on the tests. The group paper is annoying but if you start early on it and submit a draft to the TA first, it shouldn't be a problem.
Professor Hugo is an amazing professor that really cares for his students. He is always available in answering questions or doubts through email. He understands the hardships of the students and will be willing to help you at all times. He is also very passionate in his teaching and inspiring to those who are majoring in the field of business.
Overall really good professor who teaches well/shows he cares for a big lecture class. Although there isn't any requirement to submit, do the homework because quizzes are common but not difficult.
DO THE OPTIONAL HOMEWORKS! The exams are mostly (not all) just recycled HW questions with the numbers tweaked a bit. I literally just finished my final 15 minutes ago and a lot of it was identical to homework problems we've had. Also review HW problems before the exams... if you do that you'll recognize exam problems easily trust me.
Great professor, entertaining lectures! The extra credit can really save your life, so make sure you do it! The paper is a group project that can turn out really difficult if your project's partners don't respond, so make sure to communicate well. Overall had a great experience in this course and Professor Mialon made economics super fun to learn!
Very clear about what is required to do well. Lectures were relatively engaging. Many of the exam questions were recycled from the homework questions, so if you understand those you will do very well on the exams. Make sure to do the extra credits and communicate with your group for the paper, as the paper has a pretty large impact on your grade.
I took the class pass/fail to learn some Economics basics as the class is not required for either of my majors. The grading was quite generous. I managed to finish with a high C grade despite only attending about half of lectures. This seemed like a pretty standard big-lecture course taught by a tenured professor.
He makes it very clear on what you need to do to succeed in the class. If you pay attention during the lectures, and do the readings/homework the quizzes and tests should be very manageable. He is happy to answer questions and the examples in the lectures really make the material a lot easier to understand. Highly recommend.
Great professor, very accessible, and wants you to succeed. I learned a lot in this class, especially as someone who isn't an economics major. Beware that there is a group paper, and you don't get to choose your groups. Make sure to go over your paper with your TA before they grade it.
Midterms are decently hard, group project can be a lot of work. Make sure to attempt all the in class quizzes.
Great professor. Passionate about teaching and his classes are hilarious with plenty of interesting real world examples. However, the paper was graded super harshly by the TAs and the midterms didn't always reflect the content taught in class. Would recommend because Professor Mialon is an amazing lecturer but I wish he graded the paper.
Great guy. Cares a lot. 3 aspects make up 80% of the grade, so stay on top of everything.
Amazing professor and is a must take for this class. Cares about his students so much and even though participation isn't mandatory lectures are really interesting. Be careful about the group essay, its easy to get screwed over with a bad group and it almost cost me my grade, but other then that his midterm and final are very reasonable.
His lectures are sometime confusing but records everything so you can always go back to them. The tests and quizzes are based on lecture notes and homework. Very friendly would defintely recommend.
He is a great professor. The class is very easy if you understand the basics of the concepts and maybe due some practice problems. Recorded zoom lectures are very useful and attendance is not mandatory. There are pop quizzes once a week at the beginning of a lecture. Be aware of the group assignment though.
Dr. Mialon is a gem in the economics department. I took his course a while back, but never got around to writing a review. He is very caring, very professional, and witty. His lectures are entertaining and engaging. Beware of each assignment and pop quiz because there are very few assignments that make up a large part of your overall grade.
Engaging lectures with real-world examples. Manageable midterms and a group paper that can be tricky. Unstuck study helped me prepare effectively. Overall, a worthwhile class with a caring professor.
I took Econ101 and it was the most chill guy in Emory i've ever met. With his Texas accent, his lecture is fun and enjoyable. class was also available online and able to take the quizzes online. midterm and final exams are online as well. Definitely looking for and taking the next class he teaches. However, his handwirting drove me crazy.
Prof. Mialon is an amazing professor that truly cares about his students. All lectures are recorded on zoom so you can join online if you can't come to class and refer to them when studying. Few things make up big chunks of your grade but the midterm/final are very reasonable and you can take them wherever you want. Highly recommend.
If you are going to take Econ101, take it with Professor Mialon. His lectures are very engaging but his handwriting might need a little time to get used to. The midterms are manageable and can be taken online. It is free response questions but Professor Mialon gives partial credits even if the answers are wrong. The paper can be a bit tricky.
Really chill guy, class is easy, paper isn't hard if you work at it and make sure to submit early for feedback. Extremely easy grader and plenty of extra credit opportunities available on both the final and paper. Probably available if you have class concerns but you shouldn't.
Professor Mialon is a great professor and really cares about his students. He really wants to see you succeed in his class. He is very generous with partial credits on both the midterm and final exams. There are also many extra credit opportunities! The final paper, however, threw me off a bit as it is graded by a TA, which is very confusing.
Professor Mialon was probably my favorite professor this semester! He gives great lectures, and he provides relatable applications for the concepts we learn to really make sure we understand them. He's also a very generous grader and always accessible for questions. I would highly recommend the course, especially taught by this excellent prof!
Professor Mialon genuinely cares about his students. He always extends help to students and answers their questions, no matter how simple the question is. He is also a great lecturer; he often brings intriguing examples on class to help illustrate the complex concept. Be careful with the exam and paper though, they take up 80% of the semester grade
Professor Mialon was easily my favorite professor this semester. His clear explanations made Econ very approachable. I've not taken the subject before in HS, but his engaging lectures ensured the class was never boring. He truly cares about all his students, and with effort and collaboration on the paper, you'll do great. I highly recommend him!
Mialon is a kind guy and passionate about his subject. The class had some challenging concepts and if you fall behind it is difficult to catch up, but he is available to answer questions. The TAs are also great and they held helpful homework/test review sessions. Multiple little quizzes to boost your grade. However, the group paper really sucks.
Mialon is definitely very enthusiastic about the materials he teaches. The course has 2 online exams (1 midterm 1 final) and many quizzes throughout the semester. Homework is optional but is truly helpful when studying for exams. Many of the test questions are reused from class notes and textbook. Group paper can definitely hurt your grade.
Professor Mialon is the kind of guy you would invite to the bar with your buddies. Friendly, funny, reasonable and outgoing. He's a regular dude who wants his students to succeed and gives them the tools to do so. Lectures get boring sometimes, and tests are hard but online. Show up for class and you'll be good.
Great lecturer. Very passionate and helpful.
Dr. Mialon is a great lecturer and very understanding. Homeworks were optional. Weekly quizzes had questions taken from homework and lecture. Quizzes were 1 or 2 questions so unfortunately somewhat easy to make a 0 on a quiz. The final paper brings down a lot of people's grades because the TA is super strict on grading. Midterm/final not too hard
Prof Mialon is a great guy! He explains concepts very well and makes a huge effort to ensure his classes are fun. Exams are not that hard and he gives quizzes that are extremely easy with a fair amount of extra cred opportunities. Just go to class, pay attention and stay on top of quizzes- Mialon is who you want for ECON101.
Great teacher. Tests are based on the optional homeworks, so if you do them, you should be fine. Tests make up 80% of your grade (1 midterm and 1 final), while the other 20% is quizzes that are 1 or 2 questions and are no problem if you follow the class. One thing to mention is that he did start taking attendance, but only in the last 3 weeks.
