Dr. Pedrozo is a fair anatomy teacher. The material is lecture heavy, but If you actually put in time to study and read the book youll do fine. He also gives homework occasionally
Dr. Pedrozo is a fair professor but also kinda grumpy. I scored really well on all my tests and I only studied the textbook. Do well in the lab and you'll be golden. Tests are multiple choice with bonus! Study a little bit everyday- even if its only for half an hour! Don't let his lectures overwhelm you, you don't need to "know" it all.
Dr. Pedrozo is an amazing professor! If you do all the hw and maintain your attendance that should definitely boost your grade. His test are off the book and his notes and he always sticks to the syllabus. Do well on the lab and you can have a solid A. What he does not like is lazy/whiny people. He loves people going to his office hours!
You have to read the book! If you read the book and follow up with his notes you should be fine! He likes people who are devoted to learning, so just show you care. The lab usually helps out a lot when it comes to lecture exams. He gives extra credit on the exams, which really comes in handy! Do well on the lab it helps your grade out a lot.
This professor is a very smart man and teaches the class well. He gives occasional hw but It is not difficult if you have the book. Study all the slide shows for the exams and have good critical thinking skills and you will do alright. Studying outside of the lecture is KEY to success in this class so take the time to study.
A&P is not an easy class and you wont make a good grade unless you read the textbook AND outline it AND read the lab books. Dr. Pedrozo is personable and understanding for the most part but knows this class is preparation for nursing school so he can only be so lenient. Overall, good dude and really wants you to do the best you can
Dr. Pedrozo is very smart and passionate about teaching. Anatomy is a hard class but it is passable if you study. He gives out extra credit with his tests. Pedrozo is very personable and cares about your grades if he sees that you are trying. Highly recommend reading the textbook because it gives you more info. Very good professor!
Dr. Pedrozo is not the worst but not the best professor. In his lectures he doesn't make sure students understand the material and are not accurate with what his test are going to be over. He is unorganized and goes back on his word a lot. His class is entirely self-taught. I would not recommend taking him.
This was the most unorganized class I have ever taken. It is completely self-taught, what he teaches in his lectures does not reflect what he will test you on. We were multiple chapters behind, but were still responsible for them on his COMPREHENSIVE final. He also only taught to those who sat in the very front.
Pedrozo's lectures are usually meant to be accommodative & supplemental info. to your learning. The main learning and key to passing his exams is by reading the textbook and taking your own notes, then review his powerpoints. Pedrozo makes you work for your grade. For labs, it really depends on who your IA is - if HE teaches your lab, it's hard.
Great professor, although he takes a while to post grades which can be annoying. MUST read the chapters to understand what his ppws are about. If you read and pay attention in class a B or A is possible. Anatomy is simply a dense subject and pedrozo tries to make it interesting. lab can make or break your class grade :
Pedrozo is one of the best proffesors ive ever had. His class is not easy, but thats A&P in general. Go to his office and ask for help and he will take his time to explain whatever youre confused about. 10/10 recommend, hes a cool guy and super nice when you get to know him. Dont slack off and show that you actually care, itll actually help!
There are hard classes and then there are classes like these, where you find yourself considering dropping out of college and pursuing a career in stripping. The worst part is the lab because some students have great IA's who ACTUALLY guide students, while others are stuck with IA's who don't know what they're doing and blame the students for it.
Not too bad but yo take this bs at a community college
Take this at a community college unless you enjoy crying. The material is rough, the way he tests is even rougher (three different copies of the test, all with different questions!) Lab is always super ahead of lecture, and your IA (who you can't choose) decides 40% of your grade. Don't rely on office hours, he's too busy to go over your test. Meh.
I took Dr. Pedrozo in hopes of having a better Anatomy teacher but my experience didn't improve by much. He is much more approachable however, his class is very self-taught. He runs through slides very quickly and often says "you can look at this on your own time." His tests are difficult. If you plan on taking his class prepare yourself!
Professor Pedrozos lectures were long and yes, he does tend to read off the slides. However, I took Pesthy the first time around and she is unbearable compared to him. He is ALWAYS available during office hours to either go over the test or help explain the material in detail if needed. He also lets you know what to expect for the test as well.
He makes three different versions of his exams, all covering different topics. It essentially makes your effort in reading every single chapter useless bc you have no clue which one you will be tested on. The questions are hard, confusing, and some clinical. Lectures a long, unclear, and very unhelpful. Overall the worst experience of my life.
Very kind person! Tries to be funny during lecture & is an overall nice person. However, his class is VERY exam heavy & he does not give out reviews. He also won't drop your lowest exam grade. He reads off his slides so class can be a little boring (especially if you aren't already interested in anatomy). It's a hard class but it's not impossible!
Anatomy in general is a HARD course. But with Pedrozo, he pretty much sets you up for failure. Since he doesn't believe in any type of review or extra credit, you're expected to memorize the 150+ pages of a book for a 50 question test. 2/3 of the class failed each exam and he changed nothing to help us out. Take this anywhere else other than txst.
Dr. Pedrozo doesn't make class mandatory, which even if you do go to class all he does is read off the powerpoints. He doesn't make reviews, makes you feel stupid if you ask why you got a question wrong on exams, and just basically doesn't help with anything a regular professor would. I studied everyday for his class and still made a C. Dont take!
Will not curve ANYTHING which would be more understandable if there wasn't months worth of information on every test.
Never felt the need to warn people about a professor more than I have with Pedrozo. After going online b/c of COVID this man refused to help any of us with online issues, and posted 6 hours worth of lecture in 1 week with 5 different 2 hour assignments due too. Told us that we shouldn't need help, we're all just lazy cheaters. Taking A&P 2 @ CC.
He is such a sweet guy. He is not a bad person at all and he knows what hes doing. However, he has no mercy and will not curve grades at all. Do not risk your GPA by taking him. Some people are able to do well but he expects you to know every little detail. That one detail can steer you to pick the wrong answer. Learn from my mistakes & go to ACC!
pedrozo is honestly a good professor. he knows a LOT about what he's teaching, and is pretty approachable if you need extra help. however, he is savage when it comes to grading. the only extra credit he offers are a few questions at the end of exams. his exams aren't horrible, but you DEF need to put the work in by reading the text/paying attn.
This professor gets a low rating because other professors are there to help you succeed. This one seems to be there to just be tough and grade you poorly. His questions are ambiguous and hard to understand. Exams are full of errors. Self teach yourself and learn the material. Do not expect to be taught in this class.
When I asked the professor for help with a subject he told me that he had other students and did not have time. Other students are more important than him taking 30 seconds to explain something to me. Lost all respect after that and multiple other reasons..
A&P is a notoriously hard class, but the Dr. was the most challenging part. He doesn't like to communicate by email, which means office hours are mostly waiting in a zoom room. Waited until the day of the final to grade lab reports. Test every other week over 50+ pages, no lecture - only a conference on Thursdays to ask questions. All asynchronous.
There are many things I could mention about my experience but to sum it up this was one of the worst classes I've had. The material was not the problem; his handling of teaching, communication, and grading concerns was. He's unnecessarily rude over email & unclear about what he wants. Prepare for difficulty when asking him questions.
You cannot email this professor without getting your head cut off or some sort of sassy reply. Pedrozo thinks we have time to focus on his class and only his class, but we dont. His tests are stupid hard and most of the material he lectures about or puts on his powerpoints are NOT on the test. Pretty much everyone cries the entire semester over him
Dr. Pedrozo's exams are difficult but as long as you study the textbook and do the homework you will be prepared. Watching his lectures are important and going over your exams during office hours will help prepare you for the final. Do well in the lab section, homework, and quizzes while studying for the exams and you will succeed.
Exams every other week and lots of hw, labs took me all day to complete. Would give us 30 minutes to complete a "30 question" exam but one question would consist of 8 fill in the blanks. Lots of reading and on your own studying since he asks questions in exams that aren't in the lecture or more in depth than what was covered in the textbook.
Worst professor I have ever had. I made pages and pages of notes and spent hours on the material. His tests are ridiculously hard. Stay Away!!!! Take A&P at a community college if you need it for credit because taking it with Pedrozo will destroy your GPA.
This professor is EXTREMELY difficult to understand - he consistently says "um" and when he explains something it still makes no sense. He also doesn't approve lab manuals until lab is almost over, so you can't even complete lab work during your scheduled lab time. Just know you will have to read the textbook and watch videos on your own.
Pedrozo is one of the better anatomy teachers at Texas State and that says a lot about the department. He doesn't seem to care much about his students and pretty much expects you to figure it out on your own. He makes you feel stupid if you ask questions sometimes. Its an extremely hard class and you teach yourself. Good luck.
Terrible terrible. This man does not care about his students one bit. Cry in his face he will literally stare at you and say well redirect your sadness to something else. Test have errors and he wont note it. Test nothing like the lectures. Will miss grade you the whole semester. Lacks empathy towards students. Cant teach. Did I say terrible?
The tests are very difficult. The specifics that Pedrozo expects the student to recall are outrageous! It seems he's under the delusion that students are able to spend hours everyday pounding in the specifics for an intro level anatomy class. His lectures are dry and the tests are nerve-racking. If you take him, be ready to study for hours.
DO NOT bother taking Human Anatomy at Texas state go anywhere else to get credit. The experience was awful for being online could have been so much better. i get it is supposed to be a heavy intense class but also should be efficient in providing student with the actual chance to learn. It has prerecorded lectures some that you cant hear him.
Do yourself a favor and DO NOT take this man. For the love of GOD. I came into this class thinking anatomy would be my favorite subject but I left this semester hating anatomy. The tests were extremely hard in my opinion with no time at all. Be ready to read the textbook! Take it at a community college if you don't want your science GPA to be fried
Took him online and he was all over the place. He is not understanding in the slightest. No curves or extra credit. Tests are based a lot from the textbook. Random homework that would be due at random times on multiple websites and many people often missed them. Take at ACC unless you want your GPA to suffer. Have yet to meet anyone who made an A.
terrible. hated this class so much. tests are extremely difficult. ruined my gpa and my motivation
you really have to sit down and study for hours because his test are not just from his lectures, I mean you have to REALLY know what you're learning. He has no extra credit, homework doesn't make your grade any better but if you don't do them your grade will drop, he uploads 16 homework and needs them done in less than a week.
Yes, Pedrozo is a harsh grader and has high expectations for his students. However, most of his students are nursing majors, so I understand why the class was as hard as it was. If you put effort, lots of it, study, go to his office hours, and study some more, you will be just fine. He does have empathy if he knows you are serious about your grade
It's so bad, I wanna give you a 0. But that's not possible, so I give you a 1 Lectures are boring and not helpful, basically taught myself. YouTube is your best friend. Held class when it was supposed to be cancelled, didn't even make an announcement about it. Started class 30 minutes before scheduled time even when others had classes before.
Would never recommend this professor to anyone. I am on my third mental breakdown of the semester and I've never gotten an ounce of sympathy from this man. His exams have consistently had errors that he wont correct unless you ask to meet with him. I studied for HOURS and it's all been for nothing.
The material is very in depth and confusing, and Im not sure why, I just learned really well from Dr. Pedrozos lectures.
Dr. Pedrozo knows what he's talking about, but his lectures are not super engaging and I found myself having to teach myself the majority of the work. I would definitely try to take someone else or take this class at a community college. It's not impossible, but some of my other classes suffered because of how much work I had to do in this class.
Pedrozo knows what he is talking about, however he can't teach it in a way that makes sense. Be prepared to be humiliated and disrespected in class and in office hours. I taught myself both Anatomy 1 and 2 through reading the lab manual and never attended class due to his ill-mannerism. Awful teacher take at CC if you want to get into nursing.
After taking both anatomy professors at Texas State, I 100% recommend taking Pedrozo over Pesthy. Regardless of who you take this class is difficult a requires a lot of studying. But after having to retake anatomy 2 because I failed it the first time with Pesthy, I learned so much more from Pedrozo.
Dr. Pedrozo is extremely intelligent and knows what he's talking about. However, when it comes to translating material into more understandable terms, he's not the best. It isn't impossible to pass, but it's certainly not easy. Be prepared to teach yourself a lot of the material. Take anatomy at a community college if possible.
All over the place with lectures. I thought it would be slightly easier since it's an online course, but I was wrong. Take at community college if you can.
This teacher made such hard test and no review. The homeworks took at least 2 hours per assignment and there were so many quizzes and homeworks yet if you got hundreds on every single one of them, it didn't matter. They took so much time and never helped your grade. He is super unorganized and it is so hard to follow his lectures.
Pedrozo all around is a good guy, I feel bad for him bc he does want to see his students succeed. However he's all over the place in lectures, and you never know what to expect on the exams. The lectures are surface level but exam hit very specific details so are extremely difficult to prepare for. The lab for the class is also just as hard.
Had Pedrozo for Anatomy and Physiology I and recommend him! His tests are around 50 questions multiple choice and matching and all based on the book. Missed 5 classes and still made a 96. Don't miss the attendance more than 8 times! He rambles on tangents but he is funny. It is easy to multitask and do the homework assignments during lecture.
Pedrozo is difficult but the secret to making an A is studying the textbook! His lectures hardly matter because the book is where the test questions come from. This class is not for slackers, the homework takes time. Don't miss attendance code more than 4 times, use class to do hw. Study the slides for lab, they are the unpredictable part of tests.
Dr. Pedrozo is the best choice for A&P at txst. His exams are very difficult but not impossible if you attend every lecture, read the textbook, and study all resources he provides. He is very helpful in office hours if you are willing to work with him. This class was the most difficult course I have ever taken but not impossible!
His lectures can be hard to follow if you're just looking at the PowerPoint and expecting it to flow. He teaches more from his personal knowledge than what's on the PowerPoint and I've found it's better in his class to participate in the discussion and take notes on what he says.
Fun lecture
Take this class at a community college if you are shooting for an A or B. Attendance is not mandatory, but if you wanna pass go to class. Do good in the lab section of the course, and keep your grade up as high as you can, it definitely softens the test blow. Quizlet, textbooks, and youtube are your best friends to do well/average in the course.
this was my second time taking Dr. Pedrozo and it was a lot better. It was still a hard class and his lectures always consist of him just lecturing on and on and on... but he tried to keep it interesting by giving real life examples and cracking jokes. He was a lot more personable with a smaller class. Beware of short answer responses on exams!!!
There are no exam reviews, and since there's so much to learn, you have to study hard on your own. Pay attention to the topics he covers in class, and read the textbook for details. I went to office hours 1-2 weeks before every exam, and I told him exactly what I was studying. He gave me feedback on my study guide which helped me pass every exam.
Dr Pedrozo's curriculum and lectures are completely unrelated. The random ramblings/rudeness and off topic conversations that take up most of the classes have no relations to the exams/graded materials. If u are a self sufficient studier his exams are fair, but again the lectures are off topic and unhelpful on what should be an interesting class.
Dr. Pedrozo is the worst professor i've ever taken. This is already a hard class and he most definitely does not make it any easier to learn. He goes on tangents that have nothing to do with lecture and does not use the given powerpoints most of the time. he says "it is my job to show you, not to teach you." WOULD NOT RECOMMEND HIM AT ALL!!!
Dr. Pedrozo is a great professor, but you HAVE to put in the work (and there is a lot of work). Don't rely on the lectures for more than a conceptual understanding. If you want a good grade: ask questions, go to office hours, use every resource possible, and study (A LOT). Pre-med isn't easy, that's not going to change based on the professor.
Pedrozo was a good prof overall. This class is very hard so yes you need to put in the work to do well. If you read the textbook and lab manual you will do fine on exams. Lectures arent mandatory but its worth going bc he goes into depth about things that will be on exams. Homework can take a minute but he gives you a week to finish it all.
I had pesrozo for human anatomy and physiology 1, and liked him so much that i took a&p 2 with him as well. He can be confusing to follow if you are trying to study in a typical way (powerpoint notes, ipad, etc.). You really need to put your paper down and try to follow what he is saying
He was an okay professor, but from what I've heard the best A&P prof at TXST. His lectures were hard to follow because he would just talk and sometimes go on tangents. Memorization is the biggest skill for this class and I recommend labeling the system, erasing it, then labeling from memory! It's a hard class but with the right methods manageable.
He's alright, but the course is pretty difficult. He doesn't have any study outlines/reviews for exams, sometimes its unclear which chapters its even over. Def read the textbook, i have trouble focusing on his lectures. You get 8 unexcused absences before it affects your grade. For lab they have us stay the full 3hrs most days.
This class will drop your GPA. Tests are extremely hard, NO REVIEWS. Lab is just as hard quiz every week no multiple choice and in person. Lectures make no sense, be prepared to teach yourself. SO MUCH HOMEWORK FOR NOTHING; doesn't help your grade at all. Everybody I know has failed and had to take this course 2-3 times.
did not like him at all and did not like the way he taught. attendance is mandatory (need a code in class) and it definitely seems like he doesn't care if students fail or not and he specifically said JUST his lectures would not be good enough to pass the class (AKA gotta teach yourself) so I pretty much only go for attendance and learn other ways
Great person, funny to talk to but does the bare minimum of his job. No study guides or extra credit. Lectures are kind of all over the place and not at all engaging.
they could never make me hate you.
he is the actual worst. if you want to have daily breakdowns and terrible mental health go ahead and take him. No reviews, no extra credit, if you have a medical condition like i did and have to miss a test he will argue with you to no end and then make you pay $40 with a proctor to retake and he is so rude and unprofessional in emails.
The class was manageable, work was needed to be put in on your own and use his class as a review. If you had a question in class he would move onto the next slide. For every exam we had 9 ppts with 50+ slides per ppt. There was no review for the exam and would constantly bounce around the slides so you never really knew what would be on the exams.
I would not recommend this professor to anyone. I took his class last spring and had the most stressful semester. He literally called me stupid when I went to office hours to ask for help and know what questions I got wrong on exams. I hope he reads this and knows that I make A's on everything now with my new Anatomy 2 professor at another school.
different versions of exams with different levels of difficulty. sassy man with an ego who doesn't care about student success. goes on tangents in lectures, then unable to cover the information that will be on the exam. makes students feel stupid for asking questions. will give 75% of information and expect you to draw conclusions for the last 25%
Do not take A&P in this college. Only 2 professors are teaching it and both are weed-out classes. Pedrozo doesn't use study guides for exams nor tell us exactly what will be on the exam. Many students stayed after class to ask,did not give us a straight answer. Everything and nothing could be on the exam. Good luck. I wouldn't wish this on anyone.
Yea no. Don't take him. Anything he lectures on or talks about in class isn't on the test. No amount of studying could have prepared me for his tests. He's clearly clearly knowledgeable but expects students to be on the same level. If you wanna do well go in basically knowing all anatomy
A lot of people don't like him because this is supposed to be a difficult class. There is A LOT of information and the professor isn't able to complete all of it due to not enough time. PUT IN THE EFFORT! and you will pass. Read the textbooks, do practice problems, watch videos, ask questions. He won't include a lot in the tests (1/2)
Generally any course involving the teaching of anatomy is tough. Pedroza's lectures were sometimes off topic, and he sped through the material (because there is a LOT to learn). His lectures and PowerPoints are a starting point, and SUPPLEMENTATION is NECESSARY to pass the class. Not too bad overall, but be ready commit to studying to keep up.
If you have to take A&P at txst take Pedrozo. The class is tough and the lectures can be all over the places but the tests are more organized than in Acosta's class. Read the textbook and take lots of notes. I didn't do the best in this class because I didn't do a lot of studying, but overall I liked Pedrozo and he cares about his students.
best ap prof out there, i'm saying this while im in acostas ap2 lecture🥲
Worst professor, doesn't know how to stay on tract and teach. Gets annoyed when asked you ask a question. Is ride to his students and everything he says on lecture won't be on the test.
better than acosta if you have to choose
he is nice but he gets off track so much and then states "there's not enough time".. well if you stayed on track we wouldn't be two weeks behind. His lectures and PowerPoints are unorganized and half of the things he mentions in class are not on the exam. Reading the textbook and self teaching is your best bet. Start studying in the summer tbh.
Anatomy is a very hard class, utalize the time in this class to write notes over the slides and occasionally peer in and see what he's talking about. Theres too much info and not enough time to be able to cover everything. Pedrozo also has very dry humor, which is where he comes across mean.
This class isn't easy, but as long as you put in a lot of work, you will be fine. Pedrozos's tests are pretty straightforward (meaning he doesn't try to trick you); you either know it or you don't. Advice: focus on PowerPoints (test questions come mostly from there), STUDY BEFORE CLASS, and don't procrastinate because there is a lot of material.
Awful. Ruined my 4.0 from this class. On one test, more than half of the class failed, he showed stats and 4 out of 164 students received an A. He doesn't curve, so he doesn't compensate for his notsogreat teaching. This class ruined my GPA, even after putting in lots of effort outside of class. Disappointed in his lecturing
I've taken Pedrozo and Acosta and Acosta is much better. Acosta gives you extra credit on every test Pedrozo gives you nothing and his teaching style is not good in my opinion. Pedrozo reads off slides and Acosta reads outlines that you actively fill out. But with any professor you have to teach yourself and put in the study hours to get an A.
Pedroza likes to talk and is a kinda slow presenter so you may be behind at times. He is funny at times but its just a difficult class that you have to prepare for by yourself mostly. the labs are also usally a lesson ahead so prepare for that
He yells a lot, but is lenient on attendance. Don't recommend.
every morning when i woke up i'd hope a bus hit me, back up, and hit me again so i wouldnt have to go to this class
Very assignment-heavy but not too difficult if you apply yourself. There's a bunch of reading assignments to boost your grade if you don't do well on exams, and the lab grade is embedded. I took notes most of the time instead of listening to him since he reads off slides for the most part, but he's better than the other option from what I've heard.
The professor rushes through 150+ slide lectures, often skipping key material that later appears on exams. His communication is passive-aggressive and discouraging, especially in office hours. Over half the class fails, yet he blames students instead of adjusting his teaching. He makes you feel dumb in office hours and is no help worst professor.
Gets so off track all the time jumps around so much you can't even follow what powerpoint slide he is on. Skips over so much stuff that's on the test.
I wont say its terrible but its not great either. classes are very much lecture and he gets behind at times so prepare to do alot of studying by yourself. if you can i would try and do lab after class as lab is usually ahead and you can know what to prepare for the following week. Tough class theres a lot to know and memorize.
Anticipating my 4.0 being ruined after the final, that's why I put the B. Exams do not really cover what is lectured, and he bounces around ppts and expects you to keep up when he's behind. Ex) we spent abt 3 weeks on muscles, then the exam covered the most irrelevant ones, despite him telling us to focus on the main ones. No extra credit too
Anatomy is hard. Don't come into this class expecting him to hold your hand. You DO have to study yourself. I really liked Pedrozo and I'm taking him for A&P2, he just gets behind because there is SO MUCH material. I took this with Microbio and got As in both, so it's possible if you do the work and go through your notes often.
I think a lot of people who don't do well come into this class expecting it to be easy or given to them. The thing about college is you have to teach yourself for the most part. His exams are very direct, you do not have to think outside the box like 85% of the time. Literally just put the work in.
Dr. Pedrozo clearly knows his material. In a class like A&P, it's difficult to “teach” since so much depends on memorization. However, he can be lazy at times—he rarely provides extra study materials or reviews. This semester, he skipped exam 4 and the finals concept overview, claiming he “did not have enough time.”
Professor Pedrozo is a professor who could care less about his students. He doesn't connect with his students in any way and could obviously care less about the impact he could have. If you're looking to enjoy college and have a positive idea of your professors. Avoid him at all costs.
In order to do well in this class you HAVE to put in the work. I read the textbook for clarity and actually tried on the homework since it would help with the material. There is A LOT of material to cover so of course an hour and a half lecture is not going to cover it. Exams are straightforward either you know it or you don't.
Pedrozo is the worst professor I have ever had. He isn't a good teacher, he just reads off slides. BORING lectures. The few interactions I had with him were all rude & passive-aggressive whether that be in person or email. He doesn't seem to care about his students at all. Txst needs to do better for their students. It's hard but doable. Good luck.
