Madarin Chinese is a very intricate language, and difficult to learn. She does an awesome job of teaching though. She's funny, and her stories are great.

she makes chinese characters easy to memorize. also she gives really good grammar notes, in order for you to go into 1215 easily. need to memorize those characters and know how to use it if not it will be difficult to pass the course.

She is extremly pretty. Has the traditional chinese look. Has a good sense of fashion, so if you don't want to learn, at least there something else that you can concentrate on =). Must know at least one dialect to do well, trust me.

What can I say? She is very pretty and also a good teacher too. Who would want to skip her class? Oh yeah, don't forget to study too!

Best foreign language teacher I've ever come accross. She has excellent communication skills and makes class engaging. Very cute for her age (a quality held only by Chinese women!).

She is so hot, her class is easy to pass. Great fun to take her class. Sometimes quizes are hard. But oral testes are easy. Easy to B in class. :) Hard to get A. She wears Miss Sixty jeans and tank tops to class.

Best Chin teacher, fair marker. Study the pinyin to do well on test. She hates students chatting while she s teaching, so dont annoy her or you ll get on her bad side. Likes good performance for participation credits, but you ll survive although u dont participate since she gives oral test option.

Chinese is an awesome language...I would not take it with any other teacher. I am white and she makes me want to marry an ASIAN! mmm...so hot.

An awesome teacher! Actually makes you want to go to class! She can be picky marking quizzes but she's great. However, practice speaking outside of class because her oral exams can be hard if you don't practice enough. She's definitely worth having as a teacher.

Very easy. Just read the book before the quiz and you are good. Funny teacher too, cool character stories. One of the only reasons why to wake up early in the morning...

She's an awesome teacher. Class is really fun, and her lecture is interesting. Quizzes are easy, but the exams are harder. She's quite a nice marker, and very thorough. In this course, she emphasizes more on speaking and pinyin, so you have to be prepared with the characters youself. If you take time to exercise, I'm sure you'll do well.

For a beginners class, she expects us to know everything on the first day. Quizzes usually happen everyweek. Oral exams are really hard. She expects us to speak perfect chinese since we have a audio lab once per week. Do not take her unless u speak or have a decent backgroud in mandarin. make sure u go to class, she takes the attendence.

This course will be rather easy if you have a Chinese or Japanese background. She's enthusiastic, assertive, and passionate. She cares about attendance, participation, and effort in class. She has an impeccable sense of style and her heels are hot.

She's a great teacher, and her classes are really fun! She does expect attendance and effort, though, so if you're looking for easy grades you can look elsewhere. I would happily take another class with her.

Fair marker with a high expectation. It would be best to have background in canto/mando as she expects you to be able to pick up the language quickly. It feels like high school again when attendance is for marks. Overall a decent teacher, just dont get on her bad side by having small talk during class.

Very good prof. She explains things very well. She even gives interesting backstory in terms of creating of characters/words. She's very knowledgeable. She also expects a lot from the students. It's best to have sort of Canto/Mando background because the pace is rather quick. Thoroughly enjoyed her c lass.

Best way to earn credit

Prof Lin is super nice and she explains things clearly. She also dresses nicely!! :) She's super funny too and everyone should take her classes.

I like her notes. They are very clear with good examples. Her quizzes are very predictable and she announces the format of the quizzes and helps you to prepare for them. I had doubts about half online courses before, but I am ready to take another one with her. Too bad Chin 1117 won't happen until Fall semester.

Best way to boost your GPA and earn more credits

I have taken 2 courses from Lin and I think she is a nice, caring, awesome, and stylish prof. Her lectures are quite interesting! She informs the class the layout of quizzes and exams in order to help us better prepare for it. She always clarifies areas if the class does not understand it. There are homework, quizzes, 2 oral exams & 1 midterm exam.

Ms Lin is a great teacher. I loved the way she described some of the characters with stories, some true from history, some she just makes up. It makes it much easier to remember how to write them all, if you have a story to go with the word. Also her outfits are always so good.

She is nice, but not easy. As someone who has chinese background, I still had to work for this course. 5 quizzes (8% each), 2 oral tests, 1 mid and 1 final. Oral exams are hard, really strict on the tones whereas she never makes sure we can pronounce the words well. Take this course if you're confident with your chinese!

As long as you spend an hour a week, you're good to go. Everything is easy except for the oral exams. Literally did not use textbook, except for in class reading. Everything is on D2l

great prof overall, especially for the early levels of chinese. she's not as good with explaining grammar, but to be fair, chinese is tough. the biggest problem i've had is that her translation questions are HARD. she'll use different english words for the same translation, or different translations for the same english. it's not consistent.

the nerve of some of you expecting learning a langauge to be easy and a teacher to kiss your butt. kind woman, challenging class. half an hour a day at least studying at home. it is a tough class NOT A GPA BOOSTER.

She gives a quiz each week that follows the textbook; memorize the chunyu for a bonus mark! Watch out for in-class participation and the oral presentation. The participation marks are calculated relative to your peers and you must memorize your oral presentation or receive under 70%! Overall, she is a fair marker and gives lots of bonus marks

Difficult to follow? No! But I agree that if you are confident about your Chinese reading and speaking skills, take the final oral is much less work than the presentation, especially if you choose the wrong group member. I have learned a lot. She tells stories to explain the characters, no other Chinese teachers have done that.

I enjoyed her classes

I enjoyed her classes with stories and games. I learned a lot, considering Im not Asian descendant. She made Chinese easy and fun.

She's funny and caring. She made her lectures enjoyable with stories and explanations for characters. She gives bonus marks for quiz in class so make sure you show up to get it. It's stressful sometimes to remember all the characters and pinyin and how to speak but as long as you put effort, you will be fine.

I have taken 2 courses with her. She's amazing.

She is the best professor in Langara so far. She is really caring, she helped me even it wasn't her office hours. Remember everything that's on D2L and you can get an easy A. She also mentions about the bonus mark questions (gives us the question and the answer) during class, so attendance is very important.

Very good Chinese prof, would take again

She's a bit of a tough grader and there's homework for each lesson and more extra materials given by her. If you want a good grade you really have to work for it. But she's really nice and understanding if you're ever having difficulty, don't hesitate to reach out to her.

If you're thinking that this will be an easy A, think again. I believe this course is better taken in person. Definitely doable online but you're going to have to spend some time on this course.

I took CHIN 1115, 1215, 1117, and 1217 with her :) She is one of the most sweetest teacher at Langara!! I had no background knowledge of Mandarin language, but I was able to get good grades!! She always shares interesting facts about China, so her lecture is pretty fun!! TAKE HER :))

Amazing lectures, she explains things in easier terms to better understand the material. Participation counts but only a small percentage but I would recommend participating. There are quizzes every week but if you attend the class lectures then you will be good. For the midterm and onwards, you have the choice to type or handwrite the tests.

Almost done CHIN 1115 and will also be taking 1215 with Huimin! There's weekly quizzes, but she provides everything needed to prepare, and all the info is VERY well organized, making a potentially difficult course quite manageable. She's very kind and fully does her part as a teacher. Highly recommend! :)

Professor Huimin Lin is a fantastic teacher! Even with no prior Mandarin experience, I was able to excel in her classes thanks to her engaging lectures and helpful feedback.
