Get used to his accent and you'll be OK.
Good teacher & funny jokes almost every class period!
aside from the slight language barrier, he's a good teacher. he tries very hard to keep your attention and to keep the class interested. the accent can be tough to deal with, but aside from that, the course isn't THAT bad.
So there might be the accent problem, but he does try to make you enjoy the class time. I think he's an overall good teacher.
Mr.Trieu DOES indeed have a sizeable accent, which, however should be more than neutralized by his frequent use of the board for diagrams and/or other key terms, and his being focused specifically on TEACHING. He will grab your attention and keep it.
One of the best teacher. Accent might be a problem to some, but OK esp when u get used to it. Interesting lecture, organized way of teaching. Pay attention to his lecture and handouts then u'll be fine. Highly recommend!
Mr. Trieu has a very difficult accent to understand. He is a very good speaker though and tells jokes in the middle of his lectures. His class is tough but if you show the effort, you'll get a passing grade in the class. He is very approachable and nice!
If you study well, you will do well. Yes, his accent makes it harder to understand him, but if you read the assigned chapters before class, you will understand what he is talking about. Very organized, lots of handouts.
Second coolest guy at SJCC behind Mr. Chapa. Accent is a little tough but you'll get used to it, come on we live in San Jose, you should be able to decipher a Vietnamese accent by now.
Great teacher! His lectures are pretty fun cause he likes to tell stories to give us a break with lecture time. His lectures are very important to listen to because that is what most of his test questions are on.
he is a very nice teacher, i enjoyed his class. i am taking it right now for the summer and i can honestly say that i have learned a lot. sometimes his accent can be a little hard but you'll get over i. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
good teacher, just accent problem in the beginning, but you'll get used to it. He makes lectures intersting.
Very clear, always organized, punctual, helpful. Expect to study a lot, though he tries to make the subject as easy as possible. Gives EC and bonuses for attendance. Get used to his accent (it's not hard if you try), and you'll do fine.
VERY EASY
highly recommend. you'll get your first A.
absolutely no book needed. go to every class you will get an A.
Teacher tries to be funny. Class is easy in the summer. Take him. Garaunteed to pass.
a little hard to understand. NO BOOK NEEDED! Very easy to pass class. can be a bit boring, but he helps by telling stories and corney jokes. gives bonus pts so that people do not fail the class. TAKE THIS TEACHER TO PASS ECON EASILY!
Trieu is great with economic theory. He knows his stuff, in and out. If you ask, he will tell. By the end of the first week, you wouldn't even think he has an accent. Tests are not easy, but not hard. Fun teacher. He makes his class experience very fun and relaxing. He is a great teacher.
He made micro economics easy to understand-I want to be an economics major now! His jokes were funny too; he really made class enjoyable.
He is such a nice professor. i took Econ 10 B with him last year, and i got A by studying some previous exams, and problem set.Anyway, i highly recommend students to take both Econ classes with him. You will learn alot!
He's a very good teacher. Kind of hard to understand because of the accent but you just have to get use to it. He tries to make the class interesting by telling jokes. If you read and study his notes, you should do ok.
Easy A. You won't need the book to get an A. Study his notes and the problem sets, which shouldn't take too long if you paid attention in lecture. He genuinely cares about his students and has excellent & thorough attention to detail. You will learn some good econ from him too.
great teacher!!! no need for book, he gives you notes to study from. tells jokes in class! highly recommended.
hes the best teacher at SJC
He is one of the best teachers at SJCC. He knows the material well and makes the class so easy and helpful by his notes and HW. He really wants students to succeed and pass the class. Getting an A is really easy, all you have to do is goto the class evryday, read notes and do the HW(No need for the book).
He is a very easy teacher. you don't have to buy book cause his note package is cover everything in the book. He is only strict on attendance, besides everything is easy. He tells jokes all the time and he gets annoying by saying "you know" but I truly recommend him. Stay with him for the whole semester than you won't receive lower than a "C".
He is very funny and likes to help students as much as he can.what I really like about Mr. Trieu is that he respects all his students. You can get a good grade if you read the hand out and take good notes plus do the hw questions.I enjoyed taking his class.I highly recomand him.
its my first time with him. hes a pretty nice teacher. although hes hard to understand becuase of his accent.. the class is easy. YOU DONT NEED A BOOK. because he gives outlines of the chapters. & print out examples of the things thats going on now. he tells corny ass jokes.. but it makes it fun in a way. HAHA. hes cool. take it for an easy pass.
Bad Accent. He annoys by saying "Do you remember?" a couple of times before answering his own question. He does write everything on the board, and you don't really need to buy the book. He's very strict on attendance.
Professor Trieu is one of the coolest teacher on campus very helpful, nice and he grades fairly. You don't need to buy the book becuz all the material is covered in the handouts and lectures.Yeah he does have a strong asian accent and sometime tells lame corny jokes.Bottomline: if you have good attendance,do well on hw and exams U should do well in h
Mr.Trieu is very delicated to teaching his students. He is one of the best teachers in SJCC.
Very helpful, good lectures, examples, and graphs
Excellent professor!!! His class is always full. You will save your money for taking his class, because his clear lecture will help you do well on test. For this, you don't need to buy book.
Dr. Trieu is indeed very dedicated, and knows his stuff. He is a little hard to understand at times, though, and is of little help if you ever have questions. I respect him, but wish he were more interactive.
he is hard to understand and no point in asking questions because he cant ever seem to understand them, his answers are not relevant to the questions. Nice guy, tries to make jokes. his packets are helpfull, study the packet and you should do well on the test.
Hard to understand because he has a veitnamese accent but you get used to it. Don't drop, will help you in anyway he can. great professor!!! Makes lot of jokes and is very cool. Buy book!!!, he gives notes but some q's are in the book only!!! Highly recommended
his class is always full because he takes attendance like you're in jr high. he is very difficult to understand, and you'll spend hrs going in circles if you ask a question. He is of no help whatsoever, I must say he is a nice man, but I'm glad I don't have to hear him drone about commitment and timeliness again, every day he says it over and over
He doesn't know english. Therefore, it will be very hard to understand what he's saying. If you need to take econ at SJCC, I recommend Sandhu. All the other students that are giving him great ratings are Vietnamese supporting their own. If you can teach yourself econ, I suppose you can take the class.
Great teacher, The exam is 50% same as the homework ! Fun and tell joke over and over. Take him and You cant get C.
Good teacher, knows his stuff, but his english sucks. I dropped his class last semester and planned on taking someone else this semester only to find out he is basically the only econ professor. His lectures are hard to understand but hand in there, he gives large bonus points on ALL test that will raise your grade one full grade. C to a B, B to an
I keep it unbiased: 1. He had an accent which make many people hard to understand. 2. But you will get used to it. 3. Even you don't get used to his accent now, spend 15 minutes a day to read his packets, you will understand the materials. (Unless your brain is damaged or your mind is wandering about something else) 4. Text book is optional. 5. Fol
A little hard to understand the 1st day or two, but you'll get used to the accent. [And Mr. T's English is better than this whiteboy's Vietnamese!] Mr. T is a super good teacher! I never had much interest in Econ, but he's got me interested. If you simply attend class, you'll get a good grade. I liked this guy a lot! Great teacher.
The profes. is very nice. HIs lecture is very clear, and interesting. He is knowlegable. He makes class easy and intersting. Econ is boring subject, but with Dr. Trieu, Econ is interesting and easy to understand. Take class with him and it is easy to get an B at least.
Took him during the summer for Econ10A and B from 8am - 3pm. The class was overall really easy but attendance was killer. If you attend all the classes & do poorly on tests, you are guaranteed a C at worst. Skim through the book b/c some questions were in the book. 50% of test questions were in the problem sets. Prof. really tries to help you out!
Professor Trieu was extremely difficult to understand. This became quite irritating. I do have to say that he is passionate about the subject and teaching; that made the accent easier to tolerate. Overall, it was a good learning experience.
He is an awesome guy! He gives a easiest way to help you out of the tests. He gives you bonus base on your attendance. Try to attend his class regularly and you will get a B at least! His speaking is a little bit hard to understand, but you will get use to it. His examples are very funny also! Go to his class, you will see!
Good teacher. Attendance is big part of grade.
He's very hard to understand, but with time I understood him and his humor. He tells stories, and tries to make this boring subject as easy as he can. I took him during the spring-intersession and got an A. Attendence is mandatory and hates when people are late. He'll give a study guide which he uses for his exams, all answers will be given to u.
His accent is hard to understand but if you pay attention, it's not bad. Very straight forward class = Clarity in notes and subject matter! I never liked econ but he made it really easy to understand for me. HW is easy and he tries to make it enjoyable to be in a morning class! Take him!
He is so hard to understand and should not be allowed to teach such a hard subject. I would NOT take his class again.
He's one of very good teachers in our school. His lecture is easy to understand than what the book says. I got a problem with his accent at first but every thing was fine after a few days. Attendance is very important with him. The tests are what he teach you and in his handouts. He is really helpful and encourage you to study. I love his course.
I had him for both 10A and 10B and I would recommend him. His accent is hard to understand, however I was able to figure out what he was saying after a couple classes. Class was on the easy side, however his lectures are very informative and I felt that he did an excellent job teaching the subject.
He's good ! Highly recommendation !
He's super funny and knows how to make class interesting. However, he doesn't know how to explain students' questions clearly.
Great teacher. SO FUNNY. The subject is a bit dry but he openly admits it. Hard subject though. Make sure you attend regularly and on time and don't leave early. Also, don't get caught not paying attention, it pisses him off. Do all of the problem sets. He tells goofy stories throughout the class which was the best part in my opinion.
Took summer with him, super easy class. Accent is very thick.
A little hard to understand, but as far as grading he is all about passing his students
You won't learn much, but you'll have fun and get a good grade. Keynesian economics isn't very useful anyways, so you might as well have afunny teacher that keeps your attention and makes it easy for you so you can get that good grade. Unless you plan on getting an economics PhD, I highly recomend.
Accent is hard to understand at first, but you get use to it over time.Really friendly professor, sometimes he treats u like u r still in high school. Test are pretty easy as they are taken from HW sheets. Maybe take somone else if ur serious about economics.
Mr. Trieu is a nice man & he tries to be helpful & entertaining. His teaching style however, is not clear, nor is it engaging. His lectures are extremely hard to follow. You must basically teach yourself through your book because in addition to his lectures being unclear, his thich accent makes it even harder to follow.
Mr. Tireu is great and I really learned a lot from his class. attendance is very important and he does give extra points for showing up to class and on other things. Trust me you will need as many extra points you can get. The test are hard! Over all I liked this class!!
Funny, easy to learn from and fair. Study h.w and it's impossible to get less than a B. Best econ teacher at city college.
Good teacher...demanding yet fair...
I don't understand how people keep on saying he is good and easy. I don't see any of that. It's sooooo hard to understand him; what he says. I won't ever take him again.
Contrary to all down side comments.Mr Trieu is a very NICE teacher. He treats you nice but strict with campus policy. He is an easy Teacher: will stop lecturing when you ask questions. 70% questions on exams is based from his hand out. If you practice them, you will get an A !!! Mr. Trieu is a pleasant teacher, fair grading.I recommend it.He is funnin
If you want to succeed in the real life business world, then you need to take Dr. Trieu's class rules seriously. And, when you do, you should not find it difficult to pass his class. I really enjoyed that Dr. Trieu openly shared his economics beliefs with his class as this only helps to widen my perspectives.
Summer session. A little interesting but more boring I had hoped. Enjoyed his opinion of capitalism vs socialism. Study handouts for tests. Repeats same joke a lot. Didn't learn much. You get used to the accent. Wasn't my favorite class, but I could go through it again if I had to.
he is a great teacher likes joke gives extra if u sing or tell good joke jokes around with stays on topic and lecturs exactly what u nned to know and out of the book wants u to succeed
I had him for both classes. (He's only one of two econ teachers.) Challenging, but he makes econ interesting. Just make sure you do the work, attend class, and you should get an A or B. +: instructor wants you to do well and he uses examples people will relate to. -: you need to memorize a lot of facts though.
Great professor! He tells funny jokes/stories. He also gives you note packets to follow during lectures <-very helpful. Attendance is a MUST! Just pay attention, take notes, study and you will get an A. He's always open for questions. (((I definitively recommend!!)))
Dr. Trieu is super helpful, despite the fact his lectures are unclear due to his strong Viet accent. He is always committed to helping his students. I took him for 10A as well. Plenty of extra credit and attendance is mandatory (for points) NOTE: Buy the 6th edition textbook if possible because the text are the same as the 7th. (Economics U$A)
I highly recommend this class. The lectures are clear and you just have to study the lecture notes and you will get a good grade on the exams. Professor Trieu is very smart and knows econ very well. He is nice if you come to class on time and behave.
Lectures a lot, kind hearted, wants everyone to succeed, gives out free points randomly, attendance is a must, hard to understand at times but everything is in the packets he gives out, test are multiple choice.
I suppose if you had basic knowledge in econ and were an econ major, this class would be ok. I had a hard time understanding when he spoke and I wasnt the only one; the guy sitting next to me for the first few weeks kept whispering "what did he say?" to me. His heart is def in it tho, you can tell teaching is his passion, he WANTS you to learn..
One of the best professors I've had in college. He does have a thick accent but if you come to class prepared then you can understand. If you show up, on time and pay attention he will reward you. He wants you to learn and wants to help you to learn. A+++ in my book.
The nicest teacher I've had in awhile. Homework is very light and he is linient with points. I took his class in the summer and recommend him to those who can listen to the teacher and take down notes, then study those notes. You should definitely study the study guides that he passes out, as well as the notes you take in class. Tests are MC.
A great professor who is decided to all his students and as a genuine sense of humor. Even in the fast paced summer classes, he helps anyone who asks. I would take him again if I could.
this class was somewhat hard. he just lectures a lot but u have to keep up and read the book. in my opinion he alright but you should look into other teachers that teach econ
I had to withdraw from his class because i failed both his exams -.- I should have read the book and not pay any attention to the lecture. Advice: read the book
I got an A in his class. But it was not easy. Come to class every single time (he keeps attendent) and take good notes. I did not read the book that much. Just use it for refference. Definitely look at the study guides and notes that he gives out. overall, a good teacher.
He's funny, clear and is very easy. JUST GET USED TO HIS ACCENT and you'll be fine.
he is nice very easy teacher
He is a genuine good-hearted individual. He is also a fantastic teacher! Be careful if you have trouble understanding accents though; i've know some people have a hard time in his class because of this. His lectures are wonderful (neat and color coordinated!) and his lecture notes are extremely helpful. His class is easy because of this.
GREAT TEACHER. He is very nice and kind hearted. You must go to class everyday otherwise you will have a hard time to get a good grade.
Dr. Trieu is my hero. He's most determined and courageous man I've ever met. I learned much more than economics in his class
Great professor. Funny guy. Truly wants you to succeed. Very little HW. For tests: read the book, understand concepts, & study HW. Always HATED Econ until I took it with him.
What an awesome teacher! I just finished his class for winter session and man was he cool! Pretty much the sweetest professor I've had so far. He actually wants his students to be successful. "If I do my best and you do your best. Then we'll all do our best." haha TAKE HIM.
I received a B. You need the book! Thats why I got a B. pts 4 Attendance. Go to class everyday, read the chapters before the class, study all Hwk/questions are on exam, not all), study the study guide. Most ?s are n study-guide/hwk, but some are in the text book. Not helpful,he wont give u answers two mistakes on test or let u copy the ?s.
I took both Econ 10A&10B with Dr. Trieu. Well organized classes to prep you for the exams. The study guides are great, in fact, I believe some students didn't even buy the book. You can go to the book's website & use the online quizzes to see what the exam questions might look like. Pay attention to lectures, show up and you'll get
Got an A! Test questions are hard but half of them are copy and paste from the Study Guides he gives you. He gives extra credit randomly if people do bad on tests. He's soo helpful in his lectures.
I depended on the textbook too much causing me to fail. Don't depend on the textbook, make sure to read the handout, study the homework problems, etc, also use the website that is in the book. It helps. sadly, I did not know about this until now.
He's really chill and funny. He has a thick Viet Accent but he tries to be funny. You'll hear LOTS of stories bout his GF and salvation Army. Tests are all multiple choice that comes FROM THE TEXTBOOK (which is very confusing to read). Half of the test questions are from the homework! Gives random ex cred :)
I really enjoyed Mr. Trieu's class. He's as cute as button! He's very sweet and really cares about his students success. Most importantly he knows what he's talking about. His lectures are very informational, but reading the book helps also. Pretty easy overall. Plus he's funny!
spring 2013, i ask if he provide any extra credit he said he stop giving, i m bad in eco but i do study and go to his every class. if ur good in eco take him if ur not take other teacher. hes nice teacher but no extra grade if u fail u fail.
He wants you to succeed;he gives extra points to boost test grades. This only goes so far. It seems like the only thing he does is draw charts on the board; his explanations are unclear. I depend on the textbook. Attendance is a must or you lose points, and he is obsessed with people being on time. Makes me feel like I'm in high school.
I regret taking this class. He is so strict on attendance and a lot of his lectures are unclear and boring. All he does is draw the same diagram on the board. No real life examples either. However he does give study guides similar to the test so I give him props for that. Without them I would have failed the class no doubt.
Very easy class. Does a good job explain and gives study guides. Somewhat hard to understand with accent but not horrible. Funny teacher makes jokes. Don't need to buy text book if you go and pay atttention
I love coming to Dr. Trieu's class. He provides sufficient knowledge about economics. He always makes class fun with many jokes. Very little homework, carefully review before exams. You have to come to class regularly, because he call one by one for attendance. He might do it twice a day. Textbook is recommended to buy. Easy A
Love him!!! Funny yet professional. Very easy class. No need to buy book all exams are in the notes he provides. I love to hear his stories and he always stops to ask for questions inbetween. He loves his job and he dresses so smart!!! Inspires me to major in Econ. Take his class. He is writing his own Econ book.
This dudes accent is way too thick for me to comprehend anything.
Aweful teacher, can't understand him and his teaching method is show and know. As in I only know how to show you and then you should just know it. He WILL NOT help you. Tells inappropriate jokes and times you when your gone. Encourages students to drop the class rather then offering help or segues toons for help.
I despise coming to this class. I don't learn anything.I can't understand anything he says. This is already a difficult class in my opinion but him teaching it makes it much more difficult. I force myself to go because attendance is mandatory and if you're late by 20 minutes it's considered an absence. WTF. One of the worst classes I've taken @SJCC
Thick accent, not helpful, attendance is MANDATORY...he keeps track of when you leave for bathroom breaks and how long you're gone, no extra credit offered, only 2 midterms and the final were graded all semester long leaving no cushion from homework. not a good professor. I would recommend taking this class at EVC if it's a requirement for you.
He's got thick accent but you will get used to it. All homework and exams are multiple choices. Extra credits given to whom deserved. If you fail the class, that's your fault. I got A for both classes in same semester.
Those who does not put enough effort to work hard in class (e.g. coming to class on time, participating, asking questions, studying, etc.)often uses negative words & send multiple negative messages about Dr. Trieu. He gives his all to his students. He is extremely helpful! Studying with Dr. Trieu is a life-changing experience. Give yourself a try.
Dr. Trieu really puts his all into each and every lesson and for that I appreciate him wholeheartedly. He teaches as if you were going to continue on into economics, which can get confusing. Exams are all from the Problem Sets he gives and the rest is in the website provided on the book.
The class would be better if he stop making awkward (not funny) jokes. Sometimes the class does drag when he starts telling stories about his experience. The accent is horrible. he tries but I don't think he is a good teacher. so hard to understand the accent! do your homework and you will pass all the exams.
Dr. Trieu is an exceptional instructor. Yes, he has a thick accent; he does mark you tardy or time your personal breaks; he does not allow electronic usage in his class. However, once college students stop acting like whining teenagers, they are able to see a passionate instructor who does more than his fair share to help his students pass.
His english is so poor it makes it difficult to understand anything in lectures. If a student shows up late, he stops the entire class to reprimand them and give a lecture on attendance. Most of class time is spent on berating students and threatening to fail them. Still, not too hard, just stick to the book and ignore the teacher
Sometimes, meeting the right person at the right time changes your life forever. My life changes for the better when I study with Dr. Trieu. He is very professional & knowledgeable at his work & inspirational as a human being. Studying with Dr. Trieu is a life-changing experience. Give yourself a chance to meet him. He is the Best of the Best!
I'm going to miss his class. Not only is he a great professor, he is an inspirational person. You can tell that he just loves his job, loves Econ, and wants all his students to succeed. He hands out extra credit to the entire class for no particular reason (He just does bc he feels like it). Tells LOTS of jokes! Hilarious, easy A, recommend!
His lectures are so dry and redundant. Repeats the same thing and takes 30 mins for 1 point. As some others have said, wastes class time in ridiculing late students. Most of his jokes are lame gf jokes that gets old fast. Easy A, class is a joke, no challenge. Didn't learn much. No sympathy for students, had a medical emergency, he didnt care.
Awesome teacher. Has an accent but very clear and really tries everything to help you pass. Gave EC a bunch just for the heck of it. He will kinda get on you if you dont show up or arrive early but thats about it. Not much HW given and tests are pretty straight forward
He has an accent but that's it, you will get used to it. everything else is AWESOME! You can tell that he loves Econ. He tries his best to explain your questions. He prepares excellent notes so it's super easy for students to review before exams. Lectures may be long and dry later but Easy A! Recommended. I learned a lot!
Cool guy. Heavy accent. His go-to joke is about girlfriends/boyfriends. You can only miss two classes or he drops you. Takes roll at the beginning of class and the end of class so plan on being at every lecture for the semester or you won't pass. Also monitors bathroom time. He'll tell you in front of everybody if you took too long.
Mr. Trieu is a very funny & inspirational instructor who respects his students' opinions & helps them in any way possible (ex. giving bonus on hw & exams for being on-time). His lectures are heavy & aren't practical so you need to read the textbook to sort of understand the materials. PS: his personal stories really inspired & motivated me!
ECON 1B Microcroeconomy -heavy accent -organized lecture -bonus credit on everything -attendant require everyday -gf/bf Jokes -need to read or not but understand the lecture note -NICE instructor and he knows what he's teaching to make student understanable
Very nice professor means well. Heavy accent but you get used to it. Semester consisted of 3 homework assignments, 2 midterms and the final. I took ECON 10A and 10B in the same semester with him and it was fairly easy to pass. Study hard for the midterms and final.
Mr. Trieu had poor english. It's hard to understand and he repeats a lot during his lectures. He has a very dry personality and gets mad if you ask your neighbor a question. Had him for 10a & 10b only because he's the only Econ teacher at City. Encourages students to drop his class rather than motivating them. Overall I despised his class and him
I am currently in his class and I cannot understand anything he is saying. Very heavy accent. I feel like the only way I have learned anything in his class is by reading the textbook and making my own notes. His notes consist of only drawing graphs and formulas which don't make sense when you cant understand him. Wish there was another econ teacher
Dr Trieu is a great professor. He obv loves teaching. He has a heavy Vietnamese accent, but it's easy to understand him if you just pay attention. He grades based on 2 midterms, a final, and 3 study packets he hands weeks prior to the exams. His study packets and class notes are a HUGE resource. Don't skip class! He meets my demand for knowledge :)
If he can use his time teaching the actual lessons for the course rather than talking about irrelevant things, the course wouldn't be so bad. His English verbal skill is fine but there's somewhat of an accent and sometimes there's confusion due to his broken English. He tends to repeat a lot of things, which are irrelevant most of the time. Gluck.
This is my first semester in college and all I can say is that he is a good person and loves to teach but I myself have trouble understanding him because of his accent, so beware, I myself am a hardworking person but I cant be because his accent throws me off, so I recommend making friends in class to make class notes together office hours dnt help
This Professor is great! A little traditional and strict but there really is no better way. His accent is a little heavy but his models all end up on the board anyway. So read your material and you should be able to grasp the concepts despite his accent.
I admit, it took a couple weeks to get used to his accent and stories. After that, the stories kept the class from being boring! He likes to cover graphs in-depth, but make sure to read the chapters. The practice tests are easy points and helps a lot with exams. He gives a good amount of extra points. He takes attendance EVERY SINGLE DAY!
Yes he does have an accent, but honestly it wasn't hard to understand him and you get used to it really quickly. Study the lecture notes (provided) and practice problems and you'll pass with ease! Sometimes his jokes are funny too. He's actually a 4.5 but since he gives tons of easy bonus I gave him one as well so he gets a 5.0
Spring 2022 Intersession A 3 1/2 week class that is usually 12 weeks. Textbook is not necessary but recommended. The cool thing about this professor is that he gives you lectures notes and all the questions and answers for PS1, PS2 and PS3 (homeworks) which is on the exams. Exam are 40 questions 120 mins., open book.
I took Professor Trieu's course during the Winter and he provided good lecture notes during the course. He gives chapter notes and his exams were open book. Exams weren't proctored.
Amazing Econ teacher and loved taking his class. It was very straightforward and all test materials relate to the reading material provided. Will also be taking his Econ 10B class!
Mediocre is all I can say. First, he speaks fast with a thick accent, which makes him hard to understand, so most people don't pay attention in class. Trieu barely assigns anything, so the class is very easy unless you accidently mess up a test. But he's overall a chill funny guy. Good for asynchronous courses, not so much for lecture.
No book is needed. He gave out answers for the study guide. 70% of the test's questions are in the study guide. No homework. Good for intersession period.
No homework and tests can be found in the study guides. He gives out answers to the study guide's questions.
I took Professor Trieu over intersession for Micro Econ. I got an A in the class with simple studying and using my lecture notes + Problem Sets to help with the two exams (midterm and final). Make sure to do all of the reading he assigns - you don't need a textbook, but go through all of the chapters and explanations and use them on the exams.
I'm not sure what his online lectures are like but his in-person lectures are easy and you only have two midterms and a final. Attendance is important because he gives quizzes but they're one question and very simple, and if you get the answer wrong if you're there he still gives you 50%.
Prof. Trieu's macroeconomics class was fairly easy. He expects you to attend all lectures, but the lectures are easy to follow and he provides notes from the textbook so a purchasing a textbook isn't necessary. If you use the problem sets and lecture notes to study you will pass the midterms and final.
He makes all the homework optional. Test questions are just reworded questions from the homework. The lectures were kinda boring. Do the homework and the tests are easy.
Trieu's Econ class is pretty straightforward. Attendance is mandatory, but the lectures are engaging, and he provides helpful study materials like notes and practice tests. Using unstuck ai alongside the class resources can make prep a breeze.
I really enjoyed professor Trieu's class. I actually took him for both ECON10A and ECON10B fall 2022 and spring 2023. I liked his lectures and your grade is pretty much based on the tests. So if you just show up and listen to his lectures take notes you will do great in his class. He does give practice tests but he makes them optional.
