has deep accent that makes it hard to understand, however class is easy
Yes, hard to understand, and sometimes he picks on people in class.
if you just get the notes from someone else you would be fine, cant understand
DONT MISS CLASS...or get the notes from someone
Stuff on test not brought up in class. make sure you read
study notes and book to do well. answer questions in class.
nothing in class is on test...study book and always be prepared for quizes!
nice man, loves to tease. get the notes!! but some things were only in book
Didn't read, just took notes, easy A, makes fun of pple
Go to class and take notes and you will do well on the tests.

I didn't enjoy his class. He was hard to understand and he often didn't understand me. He liked to pick on people, which got REALLY annoying. He was also graded hard on the essays I wrote.
Class was fun and interesting even though he was a little confusing at times and had different beliefs than I did.

Great class great ass! There is something about foreign men that get me fired up and he is as foreign as they come, check out the accent. Trust me you will not understand a word he says, but boy he looks good!

he is impossible to understand. you don't need the book, everything on the test is in the notes. don't miss class. ask the TA questions, he gives you the answers.
Boring at times, but it's boring subject material. What a badass! Some lang problems but he definitely understands EVERYTHING you tell him. A total character, isn't afraid to say what he wants, and doesn't take BS answers from dumb students! Awesome!
very hard to understand him, but hes funny. Go to class and get notes, tests are straight from notes

Funny Guy, doesn't speak the English language. Class was moderately difficult, don't sit up front or he will talk to you all year and ask you inane questions like, You like beer and Sex and drugs, huh
He has an accent that makes it difficult to understand him, but when you do understand what he's saying, its usually pretty funny!
VERY EASY A! You definitely will not understand a word he's saying but all the questions on the exams are from the notes on the overhead anyways. Don't need to buy or read the book. His comments about sex, eating, and beer are really funny with the accent
EASY EASY EASY COURSE!!! The exams are directly from the notes that you take in class from the overhead. Beware, he has a harsh accent, but no need to worry because everything he says is from the overhead notes. He is sooo funny!!! LOL...chill course!
Awesome class. very easy. gives you answers!!!!
Laughs at everything! Its gets kind of annoying and sometimes hard to understand and gets off track easily.
Very boring. He makes jokes you cant even understand and shows boring movies. But its an easy class. Dont really have to go to class, his notes follow the book pretty closely. dont sit up front, he will pick on you.
While his class is fairly easy all in all, his test reviews rarely cover what is actually on the test. His English is horrific. I went to his office hours, and he told me to leave and come back another time for no reason whatsoever.
easy, easy course. only 4 exams- multiple choice-gives all answers in review sheets or notes-funny guy - accent is pretty bad but u don't really have to listen to him- its all on the overhead projector. easy course if u study the notes!
The class seems pretty easy at first. Until the first test. The study guides don't help at all. 1/2 the class fails the 1st test. His English is almost non exsistant.
you can't understand him but you don't need to. attendence is optional, but I'd reccommend it if you want to do well on tests.
he is very easy-not so easy to understand because you wont but as for his tests-take him-this class is the best way to complete that section of the gen ed program!
Kassim is from India and has a strong accent. As a result, you can decipher 1 out of every 5 words that come out of his mouth. Still, the material is interesting and tests are very straightforward. I pulled an A in here with a minimal amount of effort.
I must admit, this class is easy. You have to take notes, which means you have to go to class, but the tests are straight from the notes. He is extremely boring and very hard to understand. His English is very very poor.
This is one of the most HORRIBLE instructors I have EVER had. He can't speak or write a lick of English. Not to mention, he thinks he's funny but he's really corny and sometimes even offensive. My best test grade was a result of skipping his class.
VERY Easy if you go to class! Take all the notes, and DON'T study the study guides only. Study ALL the notes. The most simple things are put on a test. FUNNY professor, hard to understand, boring class, but he tries. Easy A if you attend and take notes!
You dont need to read the book. Test are entirely from lectures. Some people find him hard to understand. But he knows this and so he puts everything on the overhead. He likes to joke around so be able to take it. And stop your crying.
It's a little difficult to get an A, because he uses the +/- grading scale. If you mess up on just one test, your chance at an A is blown. Otherwise, it's an easy class and people are being whiny about it.
YOU CAN'T UNDERSTAND THE GUY! He's not helpful at all ....
the best class i have ever taken, is fun to go to andhe is funny. He keeps you interested and is very helpful. You CAN skip and still get by, but it was worth every class going
Easy course. He raises more questions than answers, don't expect to be able to have a discourse about religions that don't seem to make sense. But, he's a fair professor, and the course is easy. Multiple choice exams.

Easy class, and very fun. He manages to take the tedium out of what could be very boring.
This guy is so hot... easy A... just show up and listen... dont bother reading the book... its a waste! good luck
Easy class. He has a thick accent that may make it hard to hear him, but everything for the test will be on the overhead anyway. Great class and you learn a lot.
Ok all u people who say the class is easy has problems. he is so hard to understand and gets upset if u ask him to repeat something. Alot of the questions are from notes but some i think he pulls out the air. ok class, but not all that easy
Easiest class ever. You don't have to understand him, just take the notes off the overhead. Test are extremely easy and everyone should at least get an A or B.
Horrible professor!! I am a straight A student and ended up getting a C in his course. He is arrogant and nearly impossible to understand. He ruined an interesting subject. He pulls test questions out of his butt. DON'T take this professor!!
Great teacher. For those of you whose comments reflect that you took the class because it was supposed to be "easy" take a hint from a Philo/Psych major...PHI, HUM, and REL aren't supposed to be easy they're supposed to make you think. go to VCC
can't understand him
Dr. Kassim has a strong accent, but he is really nice and he his jokes can be funny if you understand them. This class is as EASY as it gets. No need to buy the book, just go to class, sit back, and copy the notes. You'll be fine.
you will get used to the accent, jokes are not funny but the tests are super easy as long as you go to class to copy the notes for the overhead....DONT buy the book!
couldnt understand a word he said for several weeks. Tests were well short which is ok cept for the fact that every question is equal to 1% of your final grade. I am going to barely pull a C in the class and i am a A/B average student
His class is fairly easy, what probably hurts everyone grade is that his 4 tests add up to 100 points and that's your grade. Don't buy the book and just study the review he gives you. Oh, and he isn't that clear; he has a VERY thick accent.
Definatly hard to understand, but all you really have to do is copy the overhead notes to pass. Just go to class and study your notes for exams. Relativly easy A/B
Very heavy accent...it took me weeks to learn to understand it. Pretty easy class, but study hard becuase the 4 tests are your grade, and that's it. Also not too helpful outside of class.
VERY hard to understand. He is provoking and annoying. Not helpful at all. His test are fairly easy if you go to the review, but only 4 tests makes it easy to fail. DO NOT TAKE if you dont have to.
His accent isn't THAT bad!! All you have to do is LISTEN and you'll understand. I got a C in his class but that's cuz i'm a slacker- it's easy to get a B in there. Don't buy the book- take all the notes- and u'll be okay!
easy class and the subject is interesting. just take notes in class and study the review guide and you should be ok. heavy accent but puts his notes on the overhead. grade consist of only 4 exams so you have to do good on the exams
You just gota take notes every day, and study them real real good if you want an A
this class was so easy -- and his tests are very straightforward -- just go to class and take the notes off the overhead. SO easy with Dr. Kassim!
VERY EASY CLASS - don't by the book ... go to class and take notes coz his tests are straight out from the notes ... I think this is the easiest class I have taken so far ... he makes it funny too so it's not that boring because of the subject matter - A

Another easy general ed class. If you attend his lectures, take down notes, and study them, you will do well. Only negative thing is his accent. It's just hard to understand what he's trying to say with that thick accent.
Not a hard class to pass, if you manage to understand his lectures. Tests are straight from his notes but you might want to buy the book to help clarify some of his mangled english.
Buddhism...AHH!, that's basically all I understood from him talking. The tests are very easy, straight from the notes. It's helpful to form a study group so you can compare notes. It will help when it comes to tests.
Has to be the easiest class I have had in college. Kassim was interesting, hard to understand until you get used to him about a week into course. He made some funny comments in every class, liked to tease people. Tests right from overheads, very easy.
All you have to do is take notes. He is hard to understand, but all the notes are on the overhead. I don't think I clearly heard a word he said all semester and I didn't buy the book, but I made an A.
The class is pretty easy...dont need the book....study notes for test...he has a thick accent but you can understand him better as the semester goes on....not a hard class, he is pretty nice/funny and will help you if you need it
Very nice man, but speaks very very bad english. He is very intelligent, but his lack of clarity makes his lectures hard to get through. Tests straight from notes. You HAVE to go to class to do well because tests are not from book.
Easy****...got a damn A...just got to take notes...no need for book...easy multiple choice test...easy class...he even says it "i tell my students if u wanna raise ur GPA take this class"
Real easy as a teacher for a gen ed class but who isnt? dont take him for islamic thought and culture. he dosnt know english, thinks any thought on this subject other than his own is wrong and he insults students. For this topic it is impossible for
I understand why some may think he is disrespectful toward students, however, i had him for 2 classes and realized that he is a very funny man and his humor can sometimes sound mean because of his accent..he cares very much about his students and he is a great teacher when you get used to his style.
A brilliant man, people often misunderstand him because of his accent of blunt sense of humor but the man knows more than any human being normally should. AN amazing man who speaks more languages than I have fingers (I have ten) and is able to really illustrate the points extremely well.

He flat out sucks. Don't take him
Although it is not a hard class, it becomes much more difficult due to English being his second language. Often times students have to comapre what they heard in order to understand the lecture.
He is just a sweet little old man. Yeah, it is hard to understand him, but he is very nice. He likes to make jokes, which makes the class pass faster. His tests are from what you talk about in class so just pay attention and you'll do fine!
Yes - his accent can be difficult to understand at times, but he's still a nice & funny guy. He is constantly making jokes throughout his lectures (though you can't always understand them). His tests are SO easy. Go to class, look over the notes, and it's an easy A.
He made what could have been a tortuously boring class fun and interesting. The class is easy, it just requires a bit of reading and study to completely ace the tests. Take him, he is entertaining and you will learn quite a bit as well.
OK this is the deal on Husain. You can barely understand the man, but if you go to class, copy down the notes, and do the exam overview the night before test day, i can promise anyone can make an A in his class for sure. He's actually a really nice guy and makes jokes constantly during class. You'll enjoy taking this class.
Not only are his tests easy, but he gives you a Study Guide & does and overview the day before the test. I studied for each test, but didn't always go to class & still got an A. Yes - it's sometimes hard to understand his accent, but he's a really funny guy if you listen closely.
This class is so easy just read over the notes for a couple minutes before the test and you will get an A.
He is the worst professor ever. You cannot understand him and his study guides are pointless. 90% of what is on there is not on the test. Oh well, I'm still getting a B out his class....and I never even showed up!
this is the easiest class in the world if you put in some effort.. you can't understand the guy at all!! but if you copy the notes and read them before each test, there should be no problem in getting an A. the tests are clearly stated. do not buy the book! i didn't open it once and got an A..
this is probably the easiest class i've ever taken.his tests come straight from his overhead notes & the questions are very juvenile and all mc.he can be difficult to understand, but if u listen closely you can, and he's actually pretty funny. If you find a friend who always goes, get the notes from him and enjoy the rest of your day.very nice easyA
Yes- he has an accent...welcome to college- this is a very easy class- he puts all the notes on the overhead, so even if you cant understand him- you can read what hes saying from the overhead. I never bought the book and studied the day of the test from my notes- I got an A-
great
Yes he has an accent, but notes are on the overhead and he reviews before each test. Take This Class!!! Easy A!
He has an accent that is really difficult to understand so you have to make sure to copy down ALL notes. Easy to get a B hard to get an A.
Has an accent but it is not too hard to understand. The research papers are graded by what he wants you to get, not necessarily what you deserve. The tests are take-home but do not reflect what was learned in class. You have to do research to do them accurately. If you have to take an upper-level religions class, do not take this professor.
Great guy but a confusing professor
If you are looking for an easy class this is the class and professr for you! All you have to do is go to class, copy the notes, and study them for the tests. You are guaranteed an A. All it takes is some effort to actually show up to classes and take the notes becuase the tests are straight from the notes
At first he is hard to understand becuase of his accent, but very easy class. He is very witty and a fun guy. I suggest that you take this class
Great teacher, and very knowledgeable on his subject, but very unclear on assignments. Highly recommended if you have an interest in the subject, though.
Very easy class. It was difficult to understand him at times, but as long as you copy down the notes and study for the tests you will do really well. He's pretty funny too, which helps!
Horrible professor. Makes you write a TON of papers and does not help you at all. My class was Hindu Thought and Culture
i almost never went to class and still got a B+. all you need is the notes, so ask nice people with laptops to email them to you. it's as easy as that. also, the text book is useless. i literally never opened it once, don't buy it! However, Kassim is hard to understand, especially during exam reviews (when it really matters). tests are easy enough.
The guy knows his stuff, just can't convey it in an understandable manner. VERY thick accent! Ridicuously easy class, don't buy the book. I took him on MWF and missed class once or twice a week, and still made an A. All you need are the notes, and show up on exam reviews and this class should be pretty basic.
He is a really hard guy to understand and he likes to make fun of his students, so sit somewhere in the back, and when he says he doesnt give extra credit he means it. Its a fairly easy class, copy notes, dont buy the book, and use the study guide online, its practically the test.
A great teacher! He's hard to understand at times but he really knows what he's talking about! Sit near the front and he'll talk to you which makes the class interesting and if you joke with him he'll joke around with you!
Study the study guides he gives before for each exam and you will be fine. But take notes, because you won't be able to understand a word he says. I also suggest being open-minded in his class and keeping your religious preferneces seperate from his teaching and exams.
Professor is very hard to understand. Assumes everyone is a freshman; don't sit near the front if you don't want to talk to him. Teaching style is unique...don't be offended by comments. Pay attention to the movies and the study guides. If you do that an A is inevitable.
VERY EASY, at least for this course. Most notes and completed study guides get posted online by fellow students, so if you miss a few classes, you're usually okay. Tests come pretty much verbatim from study guides. Easy A.
Has an accent but he's a funny guy. I dont know what these ppl are talking about. If this class isnt an easy A then I dont know what is. You dont need the book. Just take notes and he tells you EXACTLY whats on the exams. Take this professor.
Study study study! Great professor! Knows his stuff! Tough to understand because of his accent, but is willing to help out. Be willing to forget about your opinion.
Class is an easy A/B if you study. You can't understand a word he says, and he can say things that are offensive. DONT go to class, all the notes are posted online, go to the reviews and tests. You dont ever crack open the book, so skip that. If you have a nice PA, all your questions will be answered making your job easier
Very easy class. Get the notes on webct and you'll get an A on the test. Very thick accent, so sit close to the front. He's a nice guy, funny, makes weird jokes. If you're easily insulted by theology, don't take this course, simple as that. Otherwise, I loved the easiness and interest of the class. Usually doesn't let class out early.
gross. so creepy. asked some girls to write their phone numbers on their scantrons. can't understand him at all but the subject is really interesting if you can understand him. if you can't, tons of people were nice enough to post notes after every class so going to class def isnt a necessity
I don't know whats wrong with some of these people and having trouble in this class, but really he even says it himself "if you don't get an A in this class go back to hat high school where you came from". He jokes around a lot, and isn't serious about all the drugs and phone number stuff. good guy.
Extremely easy class. He is difficult to understand at time because of his accent but that doesn't make the class any harder. Many students post the notes on WebCT and the tests are straight from the review. He makes lots of jokes which might insult some but I found hilarious. Don't sit in the front if you're easily insulted.
This guy was awesome no homework ever just 4 tests a total of 100 points, what ever you get on the tests is what you get, you have to study a little for an A but not at all for a B. Awesome professor
EASY A!! just go to class when he shows the videos and goes over the review sheet that he gives you for each exam (that's all you need to study!!) people who complain that he's hard to uinderstand - sit closer! also, all you need to know is WRITTEN on his slides, so who cares what's coming out of his mouth?? his TA writes the exams.
As long as you go to class and pay attention when he does exam reviews you should have no problem doing good in this class. Make sure you sit close because his accent is somewhat hard to understand. Overall I'd say he's a really good teacher.
Hes a great teacher, very funny. You need to try and sit in the front of the class to understand him through his accent but he knows what hes talking about and his exams are really easy if you do the review and read through your notes
DONT BUY THE BOOK!!!!!!! All of the exams come from the notes in class. Most people will post the notes on WebCT if you just ask them. Amazing professor, very helpful.
Easy A if you go to class. The book itsn't used unless you need it for the study guide that he provides; but he goes over the answers before the test. He's a bit hard to understand at first but after that its easy. Bring your laptop and it makes taking the notes easier.
Took his class in summer. You *do need the book--there are questions on his tests from the book that are not brought up in his lectures. His lectures are very boring. You miss every other word he says b/c of his Mid East accent. I got an A, but I studied a ton. Take notes and study and you'll do fine-go to class or get someone else to.
His class is really easy as long as you go to class or get all the notes. TESTS ARE NOT DIFFUCULT as long as you have studied your notes. If you study it is an easy A.
Easy class, dont buy the book its pretty worthless. the test are right from the notes which is on a power point projector. you should go to class but if you can get the notes from someone then more power to you. the lectures are kind of boring and his accent is sometimes hard to understand, but you get used to it and hes sometimes very entertaining
Hard to undersand with his accent. But his notes are clear. Keep up with the reading and always pay attention to the videos. Plus the study guides pretty much are the test.
He is hard to understand,BUT easy test. All tests are straight from study guide. It`s really easy A grade.I highly recommend him.
I took this class over the summer and it was not bad at all. He is a really funny guy and yes at times he is hard to understand but i really liked him alot and he is very easy as long as you study your notes he gives in class and the book Ch. for the test. Def take him!!
EASY A. STUDY NOTES FOR TEST. SIT IN THE FRONT TO LISTEN TO TEACHER. ACCENT BUT NOT SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND. HE IS VERY NICE. AS A MATTER OF FACT ONE OF THE NICEST TEACHERS AT UCF. VERY SMART MAN.
he is really hard to understand. don't buy the text book absolute waste of money! but as long as you take notes or someone in your class posts notes teh class is easy just do the exam reviews on line!
Kassim is a really nice guy! Yes... he has an accent but you will get use to it. Not only is he funny, and makes class as fun as possible, he cares about his students a lot! I would definitly take this class not only because you will probably get an A, but because Kassim is a great teacher in general.
kassim is a good teacher. yes, he has the accent, but u understand it later, and hes really nice and funny. TAKE the class... you will not regret it.
For the first three test he took the tests straight from the study guide. The last test he screwed everyone over and changed it all. He is hard to understand. But overall it was an easy class.
To get the grade, simply skip the book and read the study guides. They are exactly the test in a different form. The last test was extremely hard though which made me get a B. Overall though, very easy class and Kassim is extremely funny. Look at his facebook group i made called "Kassim is going to beat you up?".
Kassim is really easy! His lectures were interesting. He uses powerpoints and teaches from that. I didn't buy the book and got an A on every exam. The exams are straightfoward from the lectures. The movies are boring! Only a few questions from the exams come from them. He's hard to understand (funny though) but if you study, you can get an A.
Good guy, good teacher. Tests are essay format and Research papers are required. Attendance is mandatory but if it's for a good cause he'll let you slide. Don't try to bull crap him, he can smell it a mile away. Stick to the books, put in some work and you'll get the A easily.
Another one of those I can't understand you type of teacher. Jokes are really dry but the class is pretty easy for the most part. I must agree that the last test was harder than the the first three. I still got an A and it was based on only test...during the summer that is.
this class on Islamic Thought and Culture was supposed to be really interesting, but he made it miserable!! He assigns research papers but he doesn't let you know what he's looking for.... I recomed you not to take him for any 3000 courses
I loved his class. He is a bit hard to understand at first, but after the first week or so he is great. Very funny. And his tests are very easy, straight from the notes. He is a great teacher for this class, I am not sure about other classes though.
He's very hard to understand at first, but after awhile you get used to it..still hard to understand sometimes when he mumbles though. He's pretty funny, and he's always in a good mood..overall, he's a really NICE professor. I recommend getting the book b/c it helps clarify some things he mentions in class. GO TO CLASS -- GET THE NOTES!!!
almost incomprehensible in the beginning, but after a few weeks you can understand him. the class was way too easy to be a college class. you take notes in class and take 4 tests and thats about it. im sure any 7 yr old could take this class and pass. its an extremely easy A
Hard 2 understand but it's a very easy class. Take & study the notes and go over the stuy guides and you'll do fine in the class. I gotta A!!!
One of the easiest classes/teachers you could ever take. Has a heavy accent but it doesn't matter since test material comes from his power point slides. Most of the test answers come from the study guide for each test. Jokes suck most of the time. BOOK IS NOT REQUIRED NO MATTER WHAT HE SAYS. I made an A without it. Memorization is key. Easy class.
This teacher is WONDERFUL!!! Yes he has a thick accent but sit in front and you should be FINE! All exam questions come from his PowerPoint notes so you don't really need the textbook, but it is a great reference source. TAKE THIS CLASS!!! The subject matter is sooo interesting. I learned ALOT!
couldnt stand this teacher. has a very dry sense of humor, but his class was really really easy, DO NOT waste your money on the book because you will never ever open it. all the info is on his powerpoints and he does test review the day before. take notes on test review and you'll do fine. his accent is annoying though.
Really easy class... don't waste your money on the textbook...everything comes from his powerpoints. If you plan on missing class a lot I suggest buying the sherlock notes for this class. I never went to class, only showed up on test days and I have an A. Just make sure you do well on the tests because your grade consists of 4 tests and thats all.
This guy is hilarious. Make sure you get the notes from class. All his test questions are based on them. The book is not necessary. Yeah, he's got a thick accent, but he never really tests you on what he says. Easy A
Terrible. His lectures are unorganized, and he usually talks about random stuff. He assigns research papers, but doesn't give clear directions. He gave me Cs on my papers, even though English and History professors give me As. Something tells me its him, not me, thats doing it wrong. Do not take.
He was pretty cool.... you cant understand him, but you dont need to because the tests are all from the notes. take him if you can.
Ignore that person below.. yeh he has an accent and his humor is dry, but he is a fun and light-hearted professor.hes very serious and knowledgeable about transcendentalism tho, and his office library is proof :O texts are very insightful.
He is extremely easy but hard to understand because he has a strong accent but the notes are precise and he gives a study guide for each test. I received an A in this class so I highly recommend him to anyone who wants to boost their GPA!!!
Easy...TAKE HIM!! There are 4 tests and no final. Questions come stright from powerpoints and his review. U don't need the book except for maybe once, so don't buy it. There is +/- grading and the class is only worth 100 pts total. So don't mess up, which is VERY VERY HARD 2 do. Just go 2 class and copy the notes...don't listen 2 what he has 2 say.
This man is the best. he is extremely funny and the tests are nothing to stress about. it is hard to do bad in the class. and best of all, he sounds like the king lemur in madagascar. i loved this guy!
Good teacher once you get use to his accent. The notes are basically your test, just study the material and you'll get an A!
At first you won't understand a word he says but once you get use to it you'll be fine. you really don't even have to listen to him just copy the powerpoint. his tests are right from the powerepoint. just make sure you're in class for the overview and you'll get an A for sure.
Kassim is a really nice and funny guy. The one bad thing about him is you cant understand a word he says and you have to rely on his powerpoints. His tests questions are directly from powerpoints. And DONT BUY THE BOOK! waste of money!
Prof. Kassim is a really nice guy and he wants you to do well, attendance is not mandatory but extremely help full, I took notes in class and then retyped everything the day before the exam (only 4 of them) and got an A in the course, he does have an accent but you get used to it, if you need help just ask him or the TA, you will get help
I took this class over summer and although it was an easy A, I wouldn't really recommend it. The professor takes forever going over notes (which is all we did in his class) and is pretty hard to understand. If you got to class and copy the notes you'll do fine on the tests, but I found the class extremely boring.
You definitely do not need the book. The notes in class are everything you need. If you don't feel like going to class, CB&S bookstore sells a notes packet called Sherlock Notes that has all of the in class notes. Saved me a few times...
very funny!
Very knowledgeable professor. He knows what he is talking about, makes funny, though sometimes crude, jokes, and teaches a very interesting class. While some may find his accent difficult (he's from north India) he is fascinating because he is from the place which he teaches about. Unfortunately, for this reason, his grading is somewhat biased.
Atrocious professor. His lectures are little more than failed, incomprehensible, badly-accented comedy sessions. His "humor" was often grossly offensive and distasteful. He was incapable of articulately expressing the material, his notes were a mess, and he gave no reading list. His grading was arbitrary and difficult. Avoid this professor.
Easy class, especially for Freshman year. You do not need to purchase the textbook because you will never use it! Just pay attention in class, specifically to what he says, take good notes, and you'll do great.
Dr. Kassim's World Religions class is so easy! The book wasn't very useful since the tests came mostly from his notes. His accent makes it hard to understand him, but you get use to it. He goes off on tangents a lot, but he's really funny and keeps things interesting.
"Atrocious professor. His lectures are little more than failed, incomprehensible, badly-accented comedy sessions. His "humor" was often grossly offensive and distasteful. He was incapable of articulately expressing the material, his notes were a mess, and he gave no reading list. His grading was arbitrary and difficult." This sums it up, stay away
Dr. Kassim was and probably will always be a very hilarious professor. He tries to joke around with people and gets them to laugh. Also, he repeats phrases like "generally speaking" or "is it true". You don't even need the book for this class as the exam overview is the test. Also he doesn't give a final exam. All in all he was a funny guy.
this class is okay. dont buy the book, tests r from notes.has degrading & embarrassing sense of humor. an "A" is a 93%, 90 is "A-". DO go to class bc he says things that r not on notes but ALWAYS on the exams. Exams r EASY, but only if you memzd the notes. most everyone cheated so obviously and neither the TA nor dr.k ever did anything. shame shame
Dr Kassim is a "special" type of professor, like a crotchity old grandpa. He can be offensive and difficult to understand (has a thick accent). BUT, he can be very funny if you are easy going and not easily offended. He is very knowledgable however and tells some interesting stories. This class had a huge research paper with NO electronic sources!
I took his world religion class. Its probably one of the easiest classes I've ever taken in my lifeI personally find it an interesting subject, so I'd go to the lectures. However, he has one of the heaviest accents ever. All the tests are based on the ppt presentations he provides. The tests are the only grades and if you study the notes, your good
Dr.Kassim is very nice but very hard to understand at times. He has a very thick Indian accent and his notes are written like Yoda wrote them himself. The tests are hard since not everything is covered in class, and he doesn't always give you a study guide, which doesn't help you a lot anyways since it's not the same questions on the exam.
he's hard to understand verbally and on paper and spells things completely different from the texts. his exams are easy enough if you study and i got a 100 on the paper, even though it was 3 pages short of the requirement. he can be a strict or generous grader, depending on the day you catch him.
Cant understand but class is very easy. Just go to class, take the notes from the slide, study all ur notes (not jsut review), and u r good to go for an A. Be sure to study! Grading scale is pretty rough so dont miss any points possible.
Kassim is a very easy going teacher. The powerpoints he provides are pretty much exact the same as the tests. As long as you study for the tests you'll be fine with an A. He's a funny teacher, what you can understand of him that is. Would take again.
You have to attend every class to get the notes for the test, but if you do go to class you really don't need the book b/c his tests are straight from the notes. Hard to understand. Really funny when you do understand him though. He's cool, this is definitely a good class to take...just go to class!!!!
Awesome class. Definitely an easy A. just study the notes and go to class. Lectures are interesting and super funny. No need for a book unless you get a stupid substitute!! Sarcastic sense of humor but good class. I would take it again.
Very rude, and offensive. He basically thinks girls are a joke and dumb. He helps men learn, but once a woman asks a question he makes fun of them. When you confront him about his behavior, he refuses to admit it and changes the subject. He is only a professor, because he is been at UCF for over 30 years.
Prof Kassim is IMPOSSIBLE to understand. I had ALL the notes from a previous student so never went to class. If you can get the notes you don't really even need to go but don't be fooled his tests are NOT simple. You MUST STUDY for all the tests. Mess up on even one and your screwed. Also, his study guides don't help
He may be hard to understand but his power point has all the info you need. You MUST go to class, never touched the textbook. Easy A.
All you have to do is copy the notes from the power point and study them and you'll get an A. definitely recomend taking him. don't need book. and don't bother listening to his rambling because you can't understand anything he says. The only things I've heard him say all semester were, "IS IT TRUE?" "GOOD?" and "GENERALLY SPEAKING." you'll see.....
The book is never really used. His tests come directly from his slides. Just copy them down, and don't stress about not being able to understand his accent. You're set as long as you have the slides written down. Nice guy, just very hard to understand. There are only 4 tests, so you HAVE to study your notes a lot before each test. No extra credit.
There are 2 tests and 1 final paper. He will say you can do the paper on anything, but you can't. He says he will help you, but he won't. He's ****. And thats what he said, "I have been here for 20 years and it's still strange for me to see a woman in the classroom" Ladies, run away, far away he will flunk you for being a woman.
The class was fine, weird but fine. The test/papers were stupid and he did not explain how he graded anything. He told me straight up to cheat because I could not pass on my own. Literally my name on this guys paper and I got a D while the he recieved a B. He grades you on your sex, not your writting. If you are a guy your good, girl not so much.
DON'T TAKE! i took this class after reading the comments on this site, thinking it'd be easy. exams only have 23-25 questions so if you do poorly on one, you're screwed. you HAVE to go to class to get the notes bc the book is useless. his also kind of rude and makes comments about girls and their weight or how ugly they are.its not hard to pull a B
Great prof, very intelligent, really knows his stuff. Yes, he has a blunt, off-beat sense of humor but if you can laugh at yourself and don't take his jokes seriously its no big deal. I noticed some comments about him being ****, I am a woman and absolutely did not have that experience. He graded my tests/papers fairly and was always respectful.
RUN AWAY! You only have four test grades, and the tests are very short so if u miss three questions you already did not get an A. Also he is incredibly rude. He labels people and insults them. I'm not trying to be a baby, but it was uncomfortable to listen to. Not to mention it is impossible to understand what he is saying. Remain sane and avoid.
If there is another professor available, take it. The tests are not extremely hard but do not expect to get an A because you will almost always miss three. I will admit I missed a few classes, but he moved the exam up a week and did not send an email or update webcourses, so i didn't know. I now fail the class and have to retake it in the spring.
Avoid this class. I thought it'd be an easy GenEd but you really have to study to do well on these tests because they're so short and focus so much on useless details. Also he is impossible to understand, and if you are able to understand him he's probably just making some terrible joke where he degrades a student.
offensive and awkward. spends most of the time making annoying jokes and comments like: "what's your name?...that's an ugly name! ahaha." tests come from notes(didnt buy the book, you really don't have to listen to what he's saying, but the tests are tricky. grade is based on 4 tests, no extra credit. pretty much an easy gen ed, but dont expect an A
Extremely easy class. You don't need the book, so don't waste money.Test(3) come straight from powerpoint,so don't bother listening.he likes to make fun of people so get used to it.
Should be an easy class, only 3 exams and a 2 point extra credit. Very sarcastic in a stupid way, so be ready to feel very awkward and maybe offended. Try to come to class b/c those that didn't came to the exams and were ready to cheat. Do your best and don't slack off b/c he won't help you at all, but the class should be easy to pass.
Kassim is one interesting character. EASY yet boring class. Pretty much go to class, take notes, and leave. Tests are simple. If you don't like being called out, then don't sit near the front or on the aisle.
What a jerk! When he's talking, you can't understand a word he says! And most of the time he's just making fun of people for looking like "hillbillies" or not being able to answer a question that we had no way of knowing. He makes fun of race, religion, and is the MOST biased professor I've ever met.. Funny that he teaches RELIGION!
Kassim is hilarious and really knows the subject! He's sarcastic but doesn't mean to upset anyone. He's really helpful and understanding if you talk to him in person. 4 tests straight from his powerpoints. Go to class for the notes, make sure you study them and the tests are cake. Don't buy the book, you won't use it. Copy notes, study, easy a!
went to class 4 times. once for each test and then the final, got a 89 B+. Recommend if you really don't care to learn the subject, the tests are directly from his slides.
this class is an easy B, its kind of hard to get an a bc he does use the +/- system, the lectures are boring, if you sit in the front or near the middle aisles he will probably call you out. i didnt enjoy this class but on the upside no need to buy the book
He goes on rants which could be interesting but it's hard to understand him because he'll drop off the end of his sentence. As long as you take the notes and study, you'll be fine. He asks meaningless questions on his tests. I learned more about religion in my high school world religion class than I did in his class.
This guy is a trip! You really only have to go to class and take down the powerpoint notes, study them and youre good, trust me. You may not understand most of what he says but it doesnt matter, easy 25 to 30 question exams merely based of the notes. I never bought the book, got an A and if you give him a chance, hes kinda funny, jokes around a lot
Dont get the book. Just go to class and take notes on the powerpoints. the day before tests make sure to go to class and get the review (tests are around 25 questions); if youll study the review you should get an A. Be warned that its hard to understand the prof and its easy to get comfortable with the easiness and slack off studying for the class
He jokes around a lot and is probably funny but you can't understand a word he says. Don't sit by the aisle because he will ask questions. Book is not needed. Don't just study the notes get the review questions so you don't waste your time. Don't let the easiness of the class catch you off guard.
He is difficult to understand at first but if you go to class it gets easier. He is very boring, and makes fun of students. But the tests are straight from the notes. If you want an easy A; go to class, take notes, and study parts of the book that he says. Don't sit in the front or near the sides if you don't want him to mess with you during class.
i loved this class, one of my fav professors at ucf. very easy class- no book needed, only 4exams that he reviews the class before the exam; no final; no hw and really funny...def recommend taking him
Interesting class but he is difficult to understand, especially in the beginning. Just copy the notes from the powerpoint and get the review questions and you should be set.
SO EASY, YOU DONT NEED TO LISTEN TO HIM, JUST COPY THE NOTES DIRECTLY FROM THE POWER POINTS IN CLASS AND YOU WILL GET AN A. THE CLASS CONSISTS OF 4 EXAMS. THATS IT. I GOT A'S ON EVERYONE. SUPER EASY A
Such an easy class. All you have to do is go to class and take brief notes. Look over the notes the night before the exam and you will be fine. There are four exams and no final. Out of all of the exams I only missed one question, leaving me with a 99% A in the class. Professor Kassim is hilarious, if you are easily offended don't go to class.
sooooo easy. All you do is take notes on the powerpoints and watch movies. He tells you to take notes on the movies but you dont have to because he gives you the information you need to know on them right after. The tests come straight from the notes and are really easy if you study. Loved this class :) and the teacher cracks jokes alllll the time
He is a really nice guy, he really cares about his class. The class itself is really really easy, you just take notes. He gives you a test review the day before the test that has all of the concepts you will need to know. study the test reviews and you will do fine. He is a bit hard to understand, but he is a really funny guy.
Easy professor if you just want an extra class that won't get in the way of much things. The text isn't necessary but the notes are important as well as the reviews the day before the test. All in all Dr. Kassim is a great guy who is funny and cares about his students! BTW his accent is a little difficult to understand at first.
Everyone says that his class is so easy, but I don't see the simplicity in it. I went to class everyday, took notes, attempted to understand him and didn't do well in the class. His accent is extremely hard to understand. His tests were difficult in my opinion. If you're bad with accents, don't take this class with him.
Took it Session A (6 wks) in 2010. Easiest class I ever took! I only used the textbook once - most notes in ppt (need book to look up Judaism holidays, but I am Jewish). 3 exams - finished each one in 10 minutes. Got 100% in class!! Attendance not mandatory, but he will know if you miss class. Very funny man!
he has the potential to be a great professor, but he moves way too fast and needs to slow down for people to understand him with his accent. also, he uses the phrase "I have the PhD, I'm right" too much, especially when correcting people about their own religion, its quite.. rude, honestly.
Dr. Kassim's class was very basic. You go to class and take notes from his lectures. His tests are straight from the notes so there is no need to get his book. His accent can be a little hard to understand sometimes, but most of the time he rambles anyways. Class is pretty boring. Attendance isn't mandatory but his lectures aren't posted online.
Dr. Kassim was a pretty good professor. His tests are quite easy and straight from the powerpoints (therefore, DON'T buy the textbook). Make sure to study the notes before tests and you'll be fine. He's a funny guy and will call students out in funny ways. Overall he's a good, easy professor and I enjoyed the course.
i disliked his teaching greatly because i took Islamic thought and culture as a Muslim in the headscarf and got picked on by the professor for it and other Muslim classmates got teased by him too and he urghhh kept insulting me and saying things were OK in Islam when they are not and mocking certain things i am glad the class ignored him anyway.
Go to class take notes. Read notes. Easy class and easy test.
He is an okay professor. Honestly I don't listen to him. I play on my phone and write down notes when the slide changes. Really easy.
He is a funny professor. He laughs all the time and jokes around with students. He is very knowledgeable, and he puts videos after we learn about a religion to clarify its practices. His powerpoints are very specific in terms of the material you will see in his tests. If you study the powerpoints and know them, then you will be fine.
Fairly easy class. You just copy his powerpoint notes and listen to his "jokes". DO NOT BUY THE BOOK! The tests are based strictly off the notes so don't waste your money. Overall, I found the class to be sort of interesting and pretty easy. I definitely recommend him as a professor.
Easy class. Just show up and take notes. Study your notes and the review questions he gives you and you will pass with an A. He only gives 4 easy exams. No mandatory attendence.
Although you cant really understand ANYTHING he says this is the easiest class for the gen ed requirement. Four tests are all taken directly from notes and are super easy. As long as you get the notes you missed attendance is not necessary. I suggest taking this class and laughing at his jokes that no one understands when he points at you
I DO NOT suggest him. Everything he mentioned I could look up on google. I don't feel like I learned anything. 3 written tests, 2 are 8-10 pages long, 1 is in-class. 8 page research paper. He grades rather harshly. He's old and funny, accent is too thick so sit in the front. BUY BOOKS (tests are off the books)!! Attendance IS mandatory.
Great Professor. Really helpful if you go to his office hours. Yes his jokes were a little off, but all in all he was a fair teacher. I would recommend him for REL 2300
Overall a pretty easy class. No need to get the textbook. Can't actually understand what he is saying. Make sure you attend the class prior to a test he does a review and the same information is on the test. Super short, easy tests if you have gone to the review.
This class is super easy. Just show up and take the notes and you'll do well on the tests. You can't understand what he says at all, and you might want to not sit at the side rows cause he will talk to you but overall the class is straightforward and it really is an easy A.
Hands down, one of the easiest classes at UCF. Don't take it for granted though - study! He's a nice guy. He loves to joke around, and he's a jolly fellow. His jokes are out there from time to time but he means it out of light humor. Recommended! Easy A.
He may be tough to understand but the course itself is easy and interesting. His tests have a few pot holes, but they aren't very challenging.
Although the class is interesting, He is virtually impossible to understand. I enjoyed the class and most of the test is provided in his study guides but his thick accent makes it frustrating to listen to him. Read the textbook and the notes as well as the study guide.
Never touched the textbook; don't buy it. Had a hard time understanding him because of his strong accent. But tests are easy if you study. Don't just study the review questions, study from the notes a little also. Study and you'll do fine. Don't worry about trying to understand him.
Professor Kassim is always laughing and joking but it took me like 4 days to be able to understand him because of his accent. Don't buy the textbook even though he insists that you should; I never used it. Attendance is not mandatory but the tests come from his notes, which you can only get by going to class. Easy overall, but you do have to study!
Easy A. Can't stress that enough. Never bought or needed the textbooks. His tests are a joke- very straightforward and incredibly easy. His accent is thick and he makes jokes that are occasionally insensitive but if you laugh at them and have half a clue as to what each religion is about you'll get an A.
I loved him! His class was really easy and he went over study guides before each test. He is hilarious and has strange sayings but I highly recommend him! He is awesome.
Easy A!!! If you can get past the thick accent the class is a breeze. Test are straight from powerpoints & he has a study guide before each test. He gets straight to the point with each religion and throws in a few jokes to keep your attention. Take him for sure!!
This professor deserves a better rating. He is hard to understand but his class is easy and he is a funny person. He treats everyone very nicely and his powerpoints are extremely easy to take notes on/Comprehend. Don't but the textbook though you don't need it. Study the notes and you'll be fine.
Kassim has a high reputation of having the easiest class at UCF. However, this semester he started a new testing format, meaning there are multiple answers to a good portion of the questions. His only grades are the exams so it's difficult to do well in my opinion. The tests are based on powerpoints only so don't buy the book.
EASIEST A, my roommate gave me her notes from last semester so I almost never went to class. I like his test reviews and he reviews after each movie. Just to to class, take pictures of the slides or write them down, study the night before or morning of which is what I did and you'll get an A.
He is an amazing professor. Yes, he can ramble, however the class is an easy A. Just make sure you take notes, and show up to class. Don't buy the textbook, you'll be okay. But I highly recommend this class.
He is an awesome professor. He has a strong accent but after 2 classes you will be able to understand him better. He has a sense of humor and give you off the wall examples with different religions to help you remember. I advise to sit in the front because he is very interactive. He rambles and you do not need the book to pass the course.
Guys this is a super easy class, and do not get your textbook you don't need it.
This class is very easy, don`t need a textbook and if you can`t understand him that`s ok just pay attention to the overview he gives right before the test and you should be fine.
Easy A. Straightfoward class, his TA makes all his tests. do not, i repeat DO NOT BUY THE BOOK. Just take really good notes on the powerpoints. you don't need to pay attention to what he says because he just rambles endlessly. Only 4 tests no homework. Don't sit on the end seats if you don't want him to talk to you.
Super funny guy. All you need to do is to copy the power points in class and go to the review the day before the test. He just goes on and on about random things and rambles a lot but he is a really good dude. Only 4 tests/grades though so you have to take them seriously. Overall pretty easy class.
Easy, easy A. There are some things on the tests from the book instead of the slides. Your entire grade is based on 4 tests. He includes some weird test questions (what's the name of my cow?) to see if you went to class. If you want to avoid interactions with him, don't sit in any of the aisle seats. He's a really nice guy.
He has a thick accent, but it honestly not that bad. He likes to make people laugh, so don't be scared if he calls on you during lecture (which happens a lot) just say something funny. Don't buy the book unless you're rich enough to just hand out hundred dollar bills, its virtually useless. 4 tests, no midterm, no final. Very straightforward.
Kassim is a really nice guy, and hilarious! His accent is thick but after a while you can understand. Test straight from the notes, easy A on the tests. Class isn't mandatory but I go anyways to get the notes. He definatly knows his stuff and is actually a really great professor to take. DO NOT GET THE TEXTBOOK
Copy down the powerpoints and you'll do fine. Tests are super easy, but you have to study for them. He's sometimes hard to understand because of his accent but you don't need to understand him for a A. You just need the notes. Don't get the textbook!
Kassim is an older, funny guy who has a thick accent. Take notes on his powerpoints and study them and you'll do fine. He mentions that you need to buy the textbook, but you don't.
You really need to study for the exams and its hard to understand him but if you have all the notes from the power points you should be fine. You don't need to buy the book even though he says so. I feel like theses so much info he tries to squeeze into 30 questions on each exam but the questions are straightforward
He was pretty great. Class was ridiculously easy and he kept it interesting.
Textbook completely unnecessary. His tests are based on his powerpoint lectures; take good notes (word for word is best). Each test covers 1-2 religions, so studying is needed. The professor is somewhat hard to understand, but he's a genuine, smart guy. His TA is probably more helpful then he is.
Easy class to pass and receive an A for gen ed. But don't go to class every time it is long and boring and you can't even understand him.
DO NOT TAKE HIM FOR HONORS WORLD RELIGIONS. Only 4 grades, two take home exams and two papers. Makes absolutely no sense, very unclear about what he wants.
Professor Kassim was AWESOME!! He is so funny and sweet. Although he has an thick accent (which I picked up by the second class), he loves what he teaches. If you study the power points you will get an A on every test!! TAKE HIM! He's the best.
Do not need to get a book at all! Take notes and go for the overviews and watch the movies and you will get 100% He is a little hard to understand sometimes but that shouldn't be a problem as long as you take notes in class and get the general idea of the subject!
Attending class is definitely mandatory since you won't find the lecture notes anywhere else. His accent is very thick, so it's hard to understand him. Don't buy the book either, you won't need it.
I learned a lot in this easy class! Just show up for lectures and definitely focus on the overviews when studying for the 4 tests.
I took this for Summer B. This is one of the easiest courses you could ever take in your college career. Kassim's accent overpowers everything he says. However, the class was simple. Show up, get notes, watch movies. The tests(3) were (multiple choice) every 2 weeks, never more than 25 questions. Studying was essential. Not hard to pass at all.
Took him for summer B and there were only 4 tests. Got B's on 3 of them and a 100 on the last one. Tests are super easy if you review notes. He has a super thick accent and is almost impossible to understand, go to the TA for help and write down the powerpoints and you'll be just fine. Take it, not a hard class to pass. DON'T GET THE TEXTBOOK.
Dr. Kassim is very smart and clearly loves the subject matter. He also knows many things. Like, a lot. He's a wealth of information if you seek out his assistance. He is a little bit inconsistent on due dates/grading, but is pretty reasonable about accommodations in those rare instances where they're warranted. Accent a bit thick, but you adjust.
He only gives 4 tests and cumulatively worth 100 points. So, the first test is worth 25 points and so on. So, you can only miss 10 questions out of all the tests. That was a little meh.
Tests are essay exams and there are only three for the course. He is very hard to understand, but a very sociable and nice guy. He has a very thick accent which makes taking good notes quite bothersome, but he reviews the exams the class before so you are well prepared. Let us use our notes on one exam as well. Barely touched the textbook.
Kassim is a bit boring, and hard to understand. He gives you the answers the class before the exams, so you hardly need to go to class if you don't want to. Exams are essays and final is multiple choice. For the essays, all you need to do is write word-for-word what he says, and you'll get 100s on the exam. I did, and finished the class with a 98%.
Dr. Kassim has a very thick accent but you'll get the hang of it. Honestly I didn't show to many classes besides the 2 classes before an exam because he always goes over EXACTLY what will be on the exam. If you go to class a few times, you'll be fine
I learned more from his TA than I did from him (he is very unorganized). Honestly, I only went to the review classes before the tests and passed the class with an A. All of the answers to the review/study guide are somewhere on quizlet, and his tests are extremely easy and straight forward if you study the review.
Show up to class and write everything down from his power points. Only 4 exams are given for a total of 100 points. Miss more than 10 questions cumulatively and you won't get an A. All exam questions come from the power points. Strong accent but it doesn't keep you from passing.
By far one of the worst teachers. Reads everything off a powerpoint. I feel like any student could stand up there and teach better than him. The TA was useless but definitely very cute. Also, he loves to stereotype people such as if you have curly hair, he will point at you and talk you during the Judaic section, regardless of your actual belief.
Took his class over the summer. Has to be the easiest class ever. Show up, write everything down from the powerpoints and overviews, study, and you'll get an A. Also you can find quizlets that have the overview questions and answers if you can't understand his thick accent. DO NOT BUY THE TEXTBOOK!!!
Profesor Kassim was great. He was always engaged into his lectures. He gave us a study guide before we took exams. Easy class I took when I fist started UCF. Overall, we had 4 exams. No final exam. Exam 4 was the last test we took.
