This guy was very difficult understand. His lectures were unhelpful and incredibly boring! The tests were difficult and there were very few grades for the class. Most of the course was focused on his opinions of our government. AVOID!
okay he does have a heavy arabic accent, he grew up in the West Bank, what do you expect? Dr. Mohamad was simply the best professor i ever had, and there are a lot of good professors in the poli sci department at UCO.
Boring as hell! He rambles on never making a clear point. Impossible to take notes, so didnt know what to expect for the test? WARNING! you will have to write a 8-10 page paper! I dropped. Id rather be buried alive than read the required texts.
He does have an accent but it isn't too bad. He is very boring and he never makes a point. He is a very nice guy though and if you need help he will help you.His class wasn't that hard. I would recommend him.
he lectures everyday and most of it does not have to do with what is on the test. i would not recommend him unless you like to really discuss in class, because then he will like you
All of his classes are lecture. Sometimes he goes off on subjects that are not related to the book. His tests are challenging.
Dr. Mohamad is such a refreshing improvement on the general government profs. around here! The material is pretty basic. He may not lecture for notes, but he does a great job of relating the subjects to current issues! I really enjoy his interactive lecture style! I totally recommend Dr. Mohamad!!
he is awful
He's from another country teaching the students about Amer. Gov. That definitely doesn't make sense to me. He's boring, has no idea what he's talking about, keeps you until the very last sec. of class no matter what, and his tests are really hard!!
He is confusing. You never really know what he is talking about.. he just talks... A LOT. His tests are difficult, and his accent... don't worry, you'll get used to it after the 1st week or so. You dont' really learn much from him,so you have to read a lot for the tests.
The fact that he is from another country and teaching American gov. bothers me. Most of the time the class is half asleep and he just loves to talk talk talk! His class is very boring and you lose interest quickly. I don't recommend taking because the tests are hard and he is very boring.
He is an enriching professor and give a very good and objective insights of the Middle East in an overwhelming biased American society. His accent is amazing and wonderful and he is far better than most Americans who cannot even speak a second language. I recommend him to all students who wants to l
His first hand experience with the middle east is particularly significant. Very helpful, texts are difficult and too much writings were problems. Otherwise, everything else was perfect
I did not really like this class.. I fell asleep basically everyday. He never went by the book and can not really take notes in his class because you never know what he is talking about.. Although, One good thing about him is.... he doesn't like to fail anyone!!
His lectures are very boring. He does not go by the book, he just rambles on in class. Tests are hard! I don't recommend taking but if you have to, you won't make less than a C if you put in effort.
Lovely and always happy. His tests are too difficult, hard to get an A with but also easy to pass with a D or a C. Recommend
Very funny, charismatic, knowledgable, insightful,OBJECTIVE, gives every side of every issue a fair shake. Expects you to come to class having read the material, and discussions center around student questions of the text. He ISN'T hard to follow as long as you come to class prepared! Tests are on text
His accent is hard to understand at first, but you get used to it. We have fun group disscussions. Test are multipul choice, he will try and scare you by saying its hard, but as long as you study you will be fine. 7 page paper due at the end of the year. I took notes just fine.

He is an alright American Government teacher. Don't let the boring lectures discourage you! If you read the chapters and do the online learning center thing than you'll get A's! Every test is straight from the book. Maybe not the best if you are an audio learner.
He is a very funny, very knowledgable man. The class discussions are a little hard to follow, they are basically a big discussion, but as long as you do the readings before test time, you will do well.
Very charming, funny, and liberal, tells great stories about growing up in the West Bank, he has his own biases like every other professor, but it is a very interesting class if you want to learn about a different point of view, just make sure to go into his class with an open mind
This guy is great - he's got awesome stories that keep you enthralled in the topic. If you're a buy-the-book learner, you probably won't like him because classes aren't that structured. But if you like great stories and someone who can tie a lot into a single topic, he's excellent. I highly suggest him.
very nice guy. still remembers me after 2 semesters. class is easy, if you can't follow him, read the book and do the online learning center and you will do fine. tests are multiple choice. one research paper that he grades very easy on. truly enjoyed the class
I didn't really like this class, Pretty boring although he was kinda interesting. His accent is hard to understand at first but you get used to it. Tests were pretty hard.
Very nice guy, but if you need an A don't take his class. Seems very hard to get an A or B. Though he is very helpful and usually pretty funny but his lectures are very slow and his test pretty difficult.
Dr. Mohamad's lectures are rather unique. Even his tangents are topical. Regurgitation of information will get you a pass, but he saves good grades for people who really gain something from his class. Go in half-hearted, you'll drop out halfway.
Awesome Professor, hes knows his stuff, only problem that there only 4 tests , so if you screwed one , its hard raise your grade.. very knowlegeable , willing to help students..Makes funny jokes, especially loves jay leno.
He is a really nice person, but it is very hard to understand him. He is so boring because he lectures all hour!!! His test are very difficult! If you want an A DO NOT take this class!
I really enjoy learning about the Middle East. I have developed a love for it and would be something I would want to teach. Dr. Mohamad increases that love.
Make sure you go to class. His tests are difficult. I got lucky with a B.
I loved his class. He is a very nice guy and will help you if you need it.
good prof, goes off of topic though - but his stories are interesting most of the time. i had him for modern mideast hist and reading is a must, definately highlight your books! this will help for the midterm and finals immensely - you may have problems with his accent, attendence is part of grade, but not a huge part.
I had him for Modern Middle East as well, while his lectures were facsinating, his grading structure was unclear, he failed to provide any notes on the book review or the paper and the only in class exam was the final so you have no idea how he grades. I got a B in the class which wouldn't be bad if I had any idea what I could have done for an A.
Not easy to understand at all. Tests are pratically impossible to study for. Random questions and everything. Class is really hard and the grade you get comes out of no where. I recommend finding another American Government teacher, he's really not that good at all.
i hated this class - he is soooo hard to understand, because of his accent; he singles students out; his tests are impossible; even if you study; and he seems to like giving bad grades. Don't take this class if you want a good grade; it's impossible!
His class is very challenging but if you study hard it is possible to make an A. He is a very helpful professor. A lot of students think this class is too hard, but they are lazy and want their grade handed to them. You can learn a lot from this class...if you want to learn.
Boring class, but if you read the book and study for tests its not bad. 1 opinion paper.
I really enjoyed this class for a summer course. If you get him to talking hes pretty funny. His tests are hard, but if you study the online quizzes and flashcards, they help out alot! overall, not a bad prof. He likes to say, "UHHH UHH UHH" alot when hes trying to think of the word, but its funny! Wouldnt mind taking him again.
he is very funny, fair and friendly....he will help you if you need help, and always encourage students to participate in class discussion...he is not easy, but not difficult either
great, nice,
sorta fun class to be in he jokes alot. he doesnt make the tests, the textbook company does, so the tests are right out of the book. he assigned an article that has to be peer reviewed, and you have to write about it like 8 pages or so. can be hard to understand if you aren't used to foreign people.
i'd have Dr.Mohamad's class of the Middle Eastern Politics. I was great to hear his view of this part of the world considering where he is from. You have read the books and discuss them in class, if not than the class gets really boring really fast. Also he tends to go off tangent alot but if you read the books (and pull him back)youll be fine.
Great professor. Very good about giving help if asked, lectures are pretty clear & interesting. He has a foreign accent but I didn't find him difficult to understand at all. I actually found it fun to listen to. His tests can be on the difficult side but if you read the texts you'll be fine. He's very funny, & I'd take a class w/ him again.
had him in comparative politics. VEry nice man, but his teaching style was not to my likeing. i have always made A's and B's and this class will be my first D ever! his lectures are pretty much a waste of time. he will talk about a variety of subjects with very little organization. The tests are out of the book which is pretty boreing and HARD!
good teacher. his lectures are good for introducing new viewpoints of the material but the book is where the tests come from. he's really funny and easy going just don't text or sleep in class. overall a pretty good teacher.
UGH! LETS JUST SAY I HAD A 57% AVERAGE AFTER THE 2ND TEST AND DROPPED THE CLASS..
Very Nice
if you miss for than 3 days you are finish for the class. if you are late just more than 5min that is absent.3 absent mean a letter grade drop. he hates people that are not looking at him during the class(weird). he only like white people. the class is boring.
if you want to have A's this is not the class you want. max grade B most people got C or D
very fair professor, and fun to have as a teacher.
you have to study to get an A or B. otherwise, you may get a D if you do nothing
fair and helpful. seem too liberal for me, and for UCO for that matter. Always compare and put things in interesting context. I like the class.
professor was funny, but the subject matter is terrible.
This teacher was extremely interesting, but his lectures didn't make sense. His tests are based only on the book though, so it is okay.
Very boring lectures and couldn't really understand him half of the time. He is pretty funny but that's the only good thing about the class. Tests were very hard.
Excellent, interesting, care about students, and focus on discussion. love the class
in his american government class we rarely used the book there were 3 exams and a 6 to 8 pg essay there was no class work an his lectures made no sense! ugh it was really fustrating
This class was hard to endure. He lectures the whole time on material that is barely even mentioned in our book. Never picks up the book. He puts up a slide show behind him, but if he talks about the slides at all, I couldn't follow him. Plus, the 6-8 page paper that was barely discussed.
Decent teacher, you MUST read the chapters to do well. Four tests and an 8 pg paper are what your grade consists of. Don't take his class that is once a week, he lectures the whole time. Goes off topic alot but is pretty funny
Professor Mohamed is an amusing and helpful teacher. He does have a slight accent, but overall, it's clear and understandable. His lectures, while occasionally losing topic, are still interesting and stimulating. He knows what he is doing.
He's hilarious and nice. His lectures are boring, though. He's a bit biased and way too liberal. He seems to hate anything conservative. It was uncomfortable for me.
First and foremost, he is one of he most liberal professors I've ever met. (Personally, I loved it). However, he often goes off on tangents that are unrelated to the chapter. Power points aren't very useful. 3 tests, one 5 page essay. The textbook is a must if you want to do well. Will give you extra credit if he thinks you deserve it.
This class is boring and anything he says in class really doesn't pertain to tests since he goes off topic.
He was way too liberal. Everyday he had to say something that bashed the Republican Party. I could tell he absolutely hates them. He climed to not associate with a political party, but it was very evident. I have to say he was a funny guy, but his lectures did not help one bit for the exams. Must read the book. Also, there's only 5 grades total.
He might be funny sometimes but you're likely to fall asleep during his lectures. The test are ridiculously hard and have nothing to do with his lectures.
Mohamad is very kind and casual! I'm very liberal so it probably just flew over my head. He's prone to tangents which leaves a lot uncovered for tests, so you definitely need to skim the chapters. Also, do all the quizzes offered on the book's website! It's basically a free practice tests, and some of the questions are seen in the real tests!
This teacher doesn't grade very quickly and doesn't post any grades on D2L so you never know what you are making. He also doesn't teach anything that is on the Exams. Super Frustrating!
His class is solely lecture. He has an accent, but not too hard to understand. The tests are multiple choice. There are three tests and a 6-page paper in his class. Not too hard, but not a free A.
excellent teacher and very helpful when u need something
care about students, and treat them well. very engaged in discussion. have difficult exams, but he help all students
His class definitely wasn't easy, but if you put in work, you'll learn a lot. Also, he's very fair when it comes to grades at the end of the semester, just have as good of an attendance as possible!
This was one of the easiest classes I've taken here at UCO, and the professor had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with it. If you read the book and study at all, you'll get a very easy A. But if you expect the professor to actually teach in class? Forget about it. All he did during class was rant about Trump for an hour and a half. Would NOT take again.
Does tend to get off-topic during lectures, but if you don't mind studying/learning the material on your own, you should do fine on the tests. Not a free A, but not super hard. Part of your grade is participation/attendance, so try to show up as much as possible.
Although he is quite liberal, way to the left, i learned so much from him. He help any student, all you have to do is talk to him. I like his way of teaching, mixing humor with serious. All his exams are from the book. He gives study guide and give extra grades to all students. I like his class, and i love his accent
Very aggravating class, Teaches for an hour and a half but gripes about trump at least half of the class and feels like if you disagree with him you are nearly shamed. Only has 4 grades through out the entire semester. 80% of your entire grade rests on 2 tests. So if you do not do well on the tests there is no way to make up for them.
Excellent teacher - and very helpful
This professor is solely setting you up for failure. Gripes about Trump throughout all lectures and is very opinionated. If you like only 3 grades (2 tests and 1 article review paper) and understand government politics then you must be very smart. Definitely will not take this professor for another class
You have a total of 3 grades in the class (2 exams and a article review.) He gives no homework and no extra credit. Study guide has nothing to do with exams. He doesn't care if his students are struggling. His lectures consist of bashing trump; their not even relevant to the exams. Do not take this class. If I could go back I would. He is awful
I wish I could go back and NOT take him. You only get 3 grades (midterm, article review, and the final.) His lectures are just talking crap on Trump, he does not care if you're struggling, and his study guides help NONE. There is no homework or chances for extra credit.
honestly, all you have to do is show up and pay attention. for finals and midterms, professor would usually crave the grades and help out a lot. he's always in a great mood, and all you have to do is pay attention and read the whole chapter for the final/midterm. it's not necessarily an easy A, but it's easy if you pay attention, and study well.
Prof. knows his material good. He cares about students. He is fair and interesting to say the least the class was easy. If you have difficulties, just talk to him and he will always help you
Great Prof.
Honestly, this professor constantly lectured about stuff that was absolutely irrelevant to our tests. He claimed his lecture and power point slides had nothing to do with the tests and he was right. There's only 2 exams total, and one assignment. You must pass everything with a high grade to even pass the class. He was also rude
He only gives you a total of three assignments throughout the entire course: a midterm, final, and an article review. If you want to pass you need to study. In my opinion, the midterm and the final weren't that hard, but that's maybe because i spent hours upon hours studying. He curves the midterm and final grades. LECTURES ARE INCREDIBLY BORING
I would not recommend anyone to take a class with him. I dont normally get bad grades but when I do I know why. With him he wouldnt leave feedback or anything. It takes him a week for him to even respond to an email. When asked questions in class he would make people feel dumb. Youre only grade by 5 things and doesnt give study guides.
Very open minded, and extremely helpful. He is funny as well
Excellent
nice prof
terrific
helpful
Took this class Fall 2020. He has a good personality, PowerPoint is posted online, and he listens to peoples feedback. Class was mainly lecture, and your final grade is decided as follows: 30%Midterm, 40%Final, 15%Reaserch paper, 10% article review, 5% attendance. He is a tough grader on the exams, and will fail you if you don't write enough.
if i could go back i would NEVER take this class, i am a junior so i have had a lot of professors and he is by far the worst. I am currently in the class and for half the class i have been worried about even passing and i normally make very good grades. he does not care in the slightest. he does not care in the slightest and gives work over breaks.
Very harsh with grades, he seems to want excruciating detail even if just asks a vague question. His powerpoints are also unhelpful. If you take his class be ready to write detailed short essays every week for the discussions rather than just a couple hundred words like literally every other professor.
He is a very tough grader. He wants a lot of detail even for things that don't reguire much of an answer. He is very tough on responses to others in discussion posts.
Dr. Husam Mohamed is a kind man. He is a very funny one too! It was 3 tests and a article when I had him. Keep that in mind. Other than that, he is a nice guy and is interesting to listen to. He explains it well you just need to listen.
He is a tough grader. Primarily based on weekly discussions and he expects us to write over 500 words for an average grade. Would assign discussions on top of important dates, there was a week a 6-7 page article review would be due for his class, and on top of that the 500-word discussion.
I was dreading taking this class based on the ratings here, but I was surprised afterward. There are very few grades. All the work is discussions with a mid-term and final that are written prompts of things we already covered. I found the work was easy and it was only one discussion a week, just make sure you write at least 4 paragraphs for 100%.
I took his online government class. Nothing crazy, but he is a tough grader. Weekly discussion posts and that's it, save for the mid-term, final, and one article review essay. He will not tell you what you did wrong if he gives you a bad grade. I received the feedback "good" when I got 60% and when I got 100%. No idea why. Not horrible though!
He's a good professor.
This was a pretty easy class. I took it online and all I had to do was some weekly posts, midterm and final, and an article review. It was all not that much work and I whenever I emailed him he replied pretty fast.
The professor can be tough, but engaging with his system pays off. Lectures are dry, but the workload is manageable. unstuck study was a lifesaver for exam prep.
Has a tough 5 question midterm and final. Also has weekly discussions. He is an awesome professor.
