Class was pretty difficult but I think I should be able to get an A. You have to use the resources he gives for practice problems and such, make the exams much more straightforward. Do expect to study a good amount if you want to do good. Life is easier if you do pay attention to the lectures, but you can survive with just the textbook.
Definitely one of the hardest classes I've taken. I'm not very good in math/physics and this class was difficult, but the professor is really understanding and always willing to help if you just ask. He held a lot of office hours and out-of-class learning opportunities, as well as providing good study material that actually pertained to the exams.
Professor Hijazi is probably my favorite professor I've ever taken at NJIT. He's actually engaging in class and doesn't give pop quizzes just to spite you. He always answers any questions and truly wants you to understand physics, not just read the slides. His exams were difficult sometimes but very doable.
Professor Hijazi is probably one of the best teachers to teach physics at njit, tests are a little difficult but if you study and answer is practice problems, review past exams you will do fine in the class. He was able to bring humor to each lecture and kept the students interested in each topic.
Professor Hussein makes the class very enjoyable and he gives us little breaks by playing guessing games. If you guess what tea he is drinking, he will give you a point!! This is the only class that I enjoyed taking at NJIT. Exams are a little tough but if you work hard you can achieve good grades. Very fun class! Don't miss out on the best prof!!
Professor Hijazi thoroughly teaches the course material, and he is always willing to help his students outside of class hours. The exams are open note, but they are rather difficult. As long as you are willing to study and do the practice problems he gives, you will do well. The only complaint I have is that his handwriting is on the messy side.
The professor is amazing at teaching Physics as he knows his material well. He is very comical and always lightens up the mood. He sometimes gives extra credit when he finds the grade to be unjust however don't expect to pass if you don't pay attention to class. Also cheating is not an option as he is capable of putting fake answers on chegg. :)
Professor Hijazi was super knowledgeable when it comes to the material and was super helpful if something was misunderstood. Also a very funny teacher and has good discussion to break up the lecture time and keep students interested in the material. He wants to see students pass and understand the material.
Professor Hijazi is hilarious and really makes the class environment enjoyable. His lectures do a good job of more simply explaining the complicated topics in physics 2, but even with that it takes some self learning to make sure you can pass. His exams were great and the homework was good as well. You'll definitely enjoy having him as a professor!
Professor Hijazi is a really fun and understanding teacher. He makes sure you understand the material and how to derive the various formulas that we have to use. Plus he likes to just talk with students about Starbucks, so he is very relatable and easy to talk to. If you pay attention in class, do the HW, and use his resources, you'll pass for sure
Dr. Hijazi is one of the best STEM professors I've had yet. His lectures are interesting and he clearly cares about teaching. He walks us through problems step-by-step and is always accessible outside of class during office hours if you need help. It's a tough course but if you put in the work you can pass this class.
He is one of the best Physics 2 professors there is. He is very funny, caring, and knowledgeable about the subject. The class feels very fast and enjoyable due to his charismatic personality. The quizzes are a couple of questions a week with a bit of studying shouldn't be a problem. If you are ever confused, don't be scared to ask.
His lectures are often difficult to follow as he discusses all the information as if the entire class knows just as much as he does. His quizzes and tests are very forgiving and not nearly as complicated as the problems he gives during lectures/recitations. Make sure you're reading the textbook alongside the lectures and it should be alright.
Dr. Hijazi was my chem 162 recitation professor. He always lightened up the mood during recitation by making jokes which helped me relieve some stress. His explanations of the chem problems were really good. If you have the chance definitely choose Dr. Hijazi as your professor, you wont regret it! Also dont get your answers from chegg
Professor Hijazi is a different breed. He isnt like the other professors at the school, hes young, hilarious, and most of all a great Professor. He gives out easy quizzes and the Exams are manageable as long as you do the work. Would highly recommend.
An amazing professor here at NJIT. He really knows how to teach the concept so you understand it. Simple quizzes once a week, much easier than recitation. 1 midterm and final which were alright. If you study for it you should be fine. He also knows how to use canvas properly, which made it so easy get the files and lectures. Would highly recommend!
Amazing professor! A tough course but professor Hijazi will do his best to help you out. He will match your efforts and make sure you do better. The weekly quizzes were sometimes hard but the HW will help you. The class canvas page was well organized with all the class recordings available. Don't doubt it physics will be easier and fun with him.
Provided all the materials needed to pass physics 2 conformably. Teacher was also hilarious and clearly passionate about teaching his students.
Professor Hijazi is a great professor. He always makes lecture fun even though there were a lot of things to cover. His recitations are really helpful as long as you keep a close eye on the problems. Study hard, participate a lot and you will do fine in his class. Good luck!
Nice and funny professor. Gave lectures and recitations, made jokes, showed us funny videos, played pranks, etc. But the class for me was hard. Had bad handwriting at certain times. Make sure to join all Exam review sessions. Study your notes/do practice problems. Pretty okay professor overall. I managed to pass with a grade that I was hoping for.
Professor Hizaji is a great! He may go a little fast during his lectures sometimes but there are lots of topics to cover, and you can always just ask a question and he will answer it. He is very prompt with responding to emails and does review sessions for the commons and finals. They help a lot.
Dr. Hijazi is very helpful and kind professor. He is always ready to help you. But yea his quizzes are challenging but if you study you'll be okay. Just pat attention and you'll pass this class.
Starting Note: The transition into in-person classes may have contributed to this. For the first week or two just trying to hear him was impossible. He doesn't talk very loud. The main takeaway from this class is to ALWAYS go to the review sessions. The Quizzes are once a week on recitation days and are usually 2-3 questions multiple choice.
Professor Hijazi is a brilliant professor with a big heart. NJIT is extremely lucky to have such a skilled instructor. It is rare to find a professor like Hijazi. The course itself is tough, but he is kind and does his best to help those that are struggling! Very fair professor. If you work hard, you will do good!
Professor Hijazi made it really easy to learn the material. He makes slides that are very important when it comes to comprehending the course. His study guides are also a huge help and makes taking the common exams not as frustrating. Overall it was a very good class, would take again. Side note he has pretty good jokes.
Very bad handwriting. You won't understand what he writes. Uses slides. He is not as good as many people say. But if you don't get any good professor, then only take him.
He's a charming and charismatic dude, but his actual lectures are not great at covering the material. Handwriting is also hard to decipher. Physics II at NJIT in itself is pretty ridiculous with 3 midterms and a final and practically no resources for preparation besides outdated exams that are nothing like the final.
He's a great professor, with a great attitude whose class has realized atmosphere and is available for office hours, but the notes aren't really clear. You have to do practice problems using the formulas or else you won't understand the lesson.
I really enjoyed the class ... very reasonable professor and passionate about physics. If you pay attention to lectures the exams are doable.
I really highly reccomend this professor for Physics 2. He made the course a lot simpler than it could be. I was scared for this course but he really made it seem so much easier than it was. His lectures can get boring but the days he solves examples, DO NOT MISS THOSE as he solves examples very thoroughly and explains everything so well.
He reads of the the slides given by the textbook. Solves problems by reading the textbook.
LIVE LOVE LAUGH PROFESSOR HIJAZI
great!!!!!
I took him In summer, 5 quizzes worth 22%, hw 18%, midterm1 25% and final 35% and some extra credit. try to pass at least one midterm and do all your HW then you able to pass this course.
As far as PHYS111 is concerned, his teaching ability was very lackluster. However, he does have clear grading criteria, is kind, and is easy to work with. In other courses he might be much better at teaching, such as PHYS112, but if you're coming into PHYS111 having never taken Physics before, expect a lot of self study. Not a hard class overall.
he is a great professor. I would recommend you take him again.
Professor Hijazi is amazing professor and will set you up for success if you take what he tells you seriously. Everything he mentions is extremely helpful for helping you pass all of the exams and the quizzes/HW he gives are very good practice for the Commons/Final exam.
Hijazi is a really cool professor. I got a B just because I never had time to study for physics and was too focused on my harder classes like calculus. However, I am grateful his class was never something to stress about. Just show up to lectures and study the problems in the lecture examples. 9/10 times those problems are on the exam and quizzes.
Professor Hijazi is an excellent Physics 1 instructor! He is able to clearly and concisely explain complex concepts, making them understandable for students. He is also very helpful, always willing to take the time to answer questions and provide additional support to ensure that his students fully understand the material!
Attendance not required, however, there will be a quiz in recitation every week. Hijazi is a passionate teacher who encourages students to participate. Personally, I missed every lecture, however, during recitation Hijazi went over the homework problems. The quizzes are usually 1-2 questions(last 20 minutes). Ppt slides are amazing for review
Great professor, I took him in the summer for physics 111 and passed with a B and I took him in the Fall of 2022 and passed with a C+. He genuinely cares about his students if he sees you want to learn. He made 2/3 common exams and he also made the final exam, pay attention during recitation so that you can do well in the exams. 10/10 recommend! :)
Professor Hijazi is one of the best professors at NJIT. Physics 2 is a hard class. But learning with him is as easy. He is straight forward of what to expect in exams, though they are common exams. He is very funny and energetic throughout the sem. Makes Physics fun to learn!!
Professor Hijazi made physics such an easier experience then it could have been. He was very good at teaching the content and classes we did homework problems and he explained everything we would need on common exams. Sometimes he went a little fast for me but he always would explain in detail when you ask. PowerPoints were helpful, go to lectures!
As long as you go to class, do the homework and build a relationship with him you are sure to pass.
Good professor generally.
He's super clear with teaching what you need to know. Lectures can be a bit boring, but recitation is where it's at. He explains the problems and concepts really well and will make sure you're prepared for the common exams. He's also a pretty cool guy.
Hijazi is a hilarious man who clearly loves what he teaches and cares about his students. He is very entertaining and sarcastic as well as being a fair grader. If you go to lectures and study his examples you will be fine.
Attendance is not required in lectures, however, there will be a quiz in recitation every week. Hijazi is a passionate teacher who encourages students to participate. During recitation, Hijazi goes over homework problems and walks you through how to do them. The quizzes are usually 1-2 questions(last 20 minutes). PPT slides are amazing for review
Amazing professor who genuinely cares about his students and their education. If you form a good relationship with him, he is always willing to help and encourage you throughout the course. He values student feedback and prepares you well for the exams with both lectures and recitation. Overall, he is very caring and knowledgeable in physics.
He is terrible. Don't listen to the other reviews because they are all wrong. He talks too fast, has a very heavy accent, and teaches as if we already know the subject. Try to avoid him at all cost
Idk if he's changed or what, but old reviews are good and new ones aren't. as the guy before me said, he talks very fast. He acts like were already experts on physics. He doesn't explain anything well and just skims over the topic and throws a million equations on the board without explaining much about them. I would avoid him, I'm struggling.
Idk what these old reviews were talking about. Mumbles half the time. Makes non funny jokes. Teaches as if everyone knows what he talks about. Lecture is useless. Recitation is alright. Terrible job at preparing you for exams. Overall not a good professor. Take someone else.
"blah blah blah" -hijazi need I say more.
DO NOT LISTEN TO THE OLD REVIEWS. if you are good at physics, be my guest and take him. Other than that, avoid him at all costs. His teaching is terrible. He flies by the lesson and says "Any questions, no, alright" and moves on without giving us any time to ask a question.
He's a very kind professor who is knowledgeable in physics and teaches with a good balance of lecture and practice problems. The course itself is not easy, but he is always willing to help out and form good relationships with his students. He encourages his students and helps with grades if needed. Overall, he is a very caring and good professor!
hard to understand, doesn't answer emails, goes through things quickly not worth it
I think the course in general is just very difficult. Not entirely the fault of the prof, but he definitely could have made it easier for us. He goes really fast through each problem; lose focus for even a second and you'll be completely lost. I mostly just taught myself doing the Pearson HW.
Don't trust rate-my-professor if you are learning Physics 2 for the first time. Hijazi is below subpar, significantly lacks the ability to teach, and cannot effectively explain anything. If the average is too high, he will make exams harder. He says study his slides, yet there is 0 derivation and explanation and only applies for the basic problems.
Went over the material quickly and not in-depth enough. If you get lost for a second, you will be lost for the rest of the lecture. Nice person. Accessible outside of class. Quizzes are an ok difficulty, you just need to know the material prior.
I would say he is way better than other professors for phys121. He is accessible outside the class, also does reviews before exams even posts the review, Quizzes are not very hard. This course generally is difficult but with the help of reviews and doing past exams i think its not too bad at last
He is very accessible outside of class and responds to emails very quickly. I wasn't even in his PHYS121 class and he responded to my email very quickly when I asked him for help relating to PHYS121. He sent me his study material even though I wasn't his student. He was pretty clear with his lectures in PHYS111 when I took it with him.
Physics II is hard to understand. Professor Hussein teaches it very well since I was able to understand. Lectures could be confusing at times but his recitation class really clears up any confusion. Our class consistently had the highest averages on exams which I think shows that he is one of the best physics teachers in the school.
Goes way too fast during lectures so be prepared to study a lot outside of the class. Physics 2 is not as easy as you may think. It's really hard to follow along with what he is saying...
You can disregard one of the previous bad reviews. Professor hijazi got better through the semester and really helped a lot of students out by dropping some quiz grades. You'll do well if you pay attention. You can't pass phys 2 without reading the book tho. Lectures alone aren't enough.
Professor Hussein clearly explained the theory behind the concepts we were learning and gave ample examples of how to apply said theory to problem solving. After an engaging lecture, we also had time to do practice questions during class. He was responsive to emails and was happy to answer questions after class and during office hours.
Ask tons of questions during recitation and lecture. He goes very fast, so speak up and ask to go over something again; he is always happy to answer any questions, and he leads a great recitation. Also, he gives you tons of really good resources, especially the recitation notes and practice problems. Quizzes are straightforward and good prep.
thick accent, can't understand him, goes through material fast
Took him over the summer because his rating seemed promising, but the "good" 4-5 five star reviews are a scam. If you're taking Physics 121 for the first time and want to learn, do not take his class. You will spend all your time learning the course on your own. PHYS121 is hard, but he lacks in EVERYWAY possible. Avoid his class, he's terrible.
Sometimes explained things vaguely. Do lots of studying outside of class. Specific things he said in lecture made a lot of sense when reviewing again. GO TO LECTURE and get past the accent. Teaching could be better organized, but if you go home and organize it yourself you should be fine. Hardest class I have taken at NJIT yet. Lenient Lab Grader
Took his Physics 2 class as a summer student. Overall the course was reasonable. His accent was not an issue at all (I don't get what people are talking about). Since this was a summer course, the pace was very fast as expected. I only needed a C to get credit so I didn't truly apply myself and did fine. Only thing is he needs more office hours.
Took this class this summer! Most certainly the hardest class I have ever taken but the professor is a goat. He jokes around in class and tries to keep the class active. He knows the material well. This course is just hard. The great thing about him is that he really cares about the students and would do anything to help you pass this course.
Great professor! Easy grader and only requires one lab report per group. Sometimes scuffles the groups just to make sure everybody is working. Overall great professor.
Some of the good reviews just lie about the fact that he is really attentive with the class, he explains the things so fast, bad handwriting. He doesn't care about attendance at all, expect for quiz day, but if you are in class you will definitely learn something (the minimum).
Great Professor, clearly tells you what will be on quizzes and is there for help. Nice person and is willing to talk about whatever you might need assistance on. As long as you pay attention and ask questions you'll be good.
The class itself is hard, Dr. Hijazi makes the class easy by being more lenient and understanding on quizzes and homework. Do what you can, pay attention in recitation, do your homework and make an effort. Ask questions if needed.
laid back unless you're late, doesn't explain labs and says not to ask him questions if you're confused and to just follow the slides, grades labs out of 10 and takes points off for random things, bad feedback/messy handwriting, overall unhelpful with actually learning anything but its easy to get above a 85/90 with minimal effort
He usually just practices problems on the whiteboard in both recitations and lectures. His teaching does not usually delve into theory enough, and he does not speak very clearly. Lectures are not structured for understanding the material completely, so it is suggested that you study on your own. Weekly quizzes via Lockdown Browser in recitation.
It is an understatement to call him horrible. You are a professor @ NJIT not high school. He literally just stopped answering my emails mid-semester. Horrible office hours. He rushes through lecture. Overall, the worst professor I have ever had! I will NOT take him again. Those positive reviews sound like he put them himself. They are fake 100%.
Pros: organized, posts slides, knowledgeable, responds to emails, funny guy, review sessions, care for students, class average higher than other sections Cons: smart guy but not too good at teaching (self-study to counter), fast-paced(all physics course are), ok handwriting How to do good: self-study before lectures and do hw before recitation
Good Professor. He is very nice and responds to emails. Quizzes every week during recitation. Put in effort and you will pass the class.
He is very hard to understand and jumps from topic to topic. His lectures are extremely boring and its hard to pay attention. He's a nice guy who makes jokes but personally wasn't the type of professor I need.
The professor explains each concept well at a fast pace. It's crucial to practice each homework assignment in order to be successful in the class. It's important to know what questions to ask, otherwise you can fall behind easily. Professor Hijazi was a great lecturer overall and went over lots of example textbook problems in detail.
Professor Hussein doesn't tell you what he's looking for in the lab report. Other professors in the Physics II Lab at NJIT are easy graders, he is not. I had a good group when it came to getting high grades and was forced to switch to a group who doesn't do the work. Would not suggest taking him unless you want to stress out about a lab class.
I had this professor for physics and he made it feel easy. He explains everything thoroughly in a way easy to follow. He is so organized and tells you exactly what's on the quizzes(short and fair) He solves homework problems which was super helpful. Very easy to reach and always willing to help. If you put in the effort, you'll definitely do well.
Very quick-paced during he lectures but will always be thorough when answering questions. Quizzes are 2 questions but hard. Homework is very helpful if you want to do good in this class. Sometimes cracks jokes to get the class laughing and his classes have great averages in common exams
I had him for Phys 111 A (lab), and he is great. The labs themselves are fairly easy. Lab reports are due at the next class, and they aren't terribly hard. Just follow the format given at the start, and you should be perfectly fine. Highly recommend for lab
Took 3 physics classes with him. Super organized, helpful, and knowledgeable. Offers tons of resources and help. Weekly 2 MCQ quizzes are easy if you attend and pay attention. Only got a B because I'm dual-enrolled in Princeton and neglected the course a little, but he makes a hard class manageable. Will do well if you try, highly recommend!
He is ok, handwriting sucks can barely understand it. Reads off slides does a few questions hard to follow. Have to self teach or you will struggle, he is ok if you pay attention 100%. 50/50 if I would take him again.
His handwriting is really bad, and he often sped through problems. Otherwise nice and funny guy.
He makes studying for Physics 2 very manageable! Its a hard class in general, so expect to still struggle regardless; however, the resources he provides to understand the material and practice the problems is a big help There's quizzes every week and usually the homework helps a lot
Quizzes are easy. Rushes through lectures, all lectures, I think he does this so he can do recitation on his off lecture days, during which he rushes through example problems that you will see in hw. If you are taking his class and struggling, look around for help; others can and will help, look online, you'll find them.
Professor Hijazi is a great mentor, especially during his office hours. Additionally, he is very generous whenever you need help, so if you ever need help, don't be afraid to ask. He is also very humorous to me. Would take again
His lectures are horrible you will learn absolutely nothing he has bad hand writing and is always rushing through the practice problems. Do NOT take him he makes the course much harder than it needs to be.
I really enjoyed lab with Prof. Hijazai as he made the lab work really easy and most of the time, you only have to write a small amount of the report. If you need help with any part of the lab, he is happy to help and grades pretty lightly. For the last lab, he made it so that we don't have to write which was pretty cool :). You should take him!
He's really nice and smart but I really couldn't understand the way he's teaching. He does have an accent, but you get used to it. If you can teach yourself the topic before going to the lecture, you'd be fine since the problems he does and very similar to the ones on the common exam. Quiz every week and it's very hard.
I enjoyed his class because I prefer going over practice questions more than concepts. He's funny so I enjoyed his class, and he answers his emails very quickly. The homework isn't that bad, and a lot of the answers are on the recitation worksheet. He drops the two lowest quiz grades at the end of the semester which is amazing.
He is a charismatic professor, and you can tell he is willing to teach. He explains concepts and then does exercises with us to help us understand. Sometimes he moved too quickly, which caused me to lose focus. Overall, he is a good professor; you just have to pay attention.
Seems like a nice guy but the way notes were written on the board got confusing. He spent a little too much time on simple concepts and kind of glazed over the complicated stuff. Also his handwriting is a bit difficult to understand
Very thick accent, making it very hard to understand, especially for someone who didn't take physics in high school (if you took it in high school, you will be fine). Barely teaches you the material, most things I had to self teach.
Don't take him if you have never taken physics before. He mumbles when teaching material and rushes through it so that he can fill his quota of 1 chapter a week. His 2-question quizzes each week are easy, but his class will not help you be prepared for the common exam. I had to teach myself a lot, if not all, of the material for this course.
The profesor doesn't seem like a bad person but he is awful at teaching . His handwriting is horrible and he rushes through lectures . If you can take someone else please do. One of the worst teachers I've ever met .
this guy is here to do research not teach, he does not care and reads of a slide for the whole thing and is barley useful, I learned more from khan academy in 1 hour than I did with him, steve kane teached me more in 5 minutes in his office hours than his whole course did.
Super rushed class and be ready to learn through YouTube since he doesn't teach in class , just rambles and speeds through the slides .
The course overall is difficult, but Dr. Hijazri does do his best to explain everything. His test averages, even though around 50 ish, are still higher compared to other section that are taught by different professors. Just be ready to invest time in your studying and practing solving problems.
Professor Hijazi is hilarious. He does many examples both during lectures and recitations but still be ready to put in effort outside of class. His hand writing is mid (not as bad as said). I would definitely take him again just cuz he's too funny. He knows the material well. He is the funniest professor ever, and he drops the two lowest quizzes :)
Don't come into this class expecting to be taught the material. This professor does not explain the chapter content. He immediately dives into solving equations (with very poor explanations) without helping students build bonds to derive equations. Also, the homework is due at an inconvenient time during the week. Enjoy the clueless self-study
PLEASE DON'T EVER TAKE HIM. He is the WORST professor I've ever had! Doesn't care about the students at ALL and is just at NJIT for research. Seems like a nice guy but his teaching ability is lacking.
One of the best professors ever. He's genuinely funny, kind, and explains everything with tons of clear examples that prepare you perfectly for exams, replies to emails so fast. His classes are engaging, uses good colors for examples, and actually enjoyable. If you can take him, do it. I normally hate physics but he made it fun. He is the best!
Professor Hijazi is a great professor. His clear, organized teaching and jokes made class interactive, and it reminded me of like a good high school class in the best way. It's easy to ask questions, and even though Physics 111 is a lot of work, showing up and paying attention makes it manageable. He truly cares and teaches well. Highly recommend!
Honestly a very good professor overall. He's kind and funny and does his best to explain everything very well. Tries to make the class interactive and he's very understanding. Homework is due at an inconvenient day of the week but it's still manageable. Great professor all in all, I enjoyed his class.
This guy is an amazing lecturer and is hilarious. He is very passionate about teaching physics. Sure, he has an accent, but you can easily understand him, there are lecturers with way worse accents at this school. Sometimes there can be a lot of homework problems but it's the same amount for the whole Physics department regardless of who you take.
I wish I never attended the lectures. They were a waste of time since he rushed through everything.
Just Don't.
He's the most caring professor ever, is always available for questions and does recitation to help students understand how to use the topics and apply them to problems. All of the quizzes and recitation problems were on past common exams so those really helped me prepare for potential exam questions
He is a funny, genuine guy and I enjoyed his lectures a lot. He also dropped three quizzes and did everything he could to help everyone pass. Great guy who I would recommend.
