Excellent teacher -- he probably couldn't make the material clearer if he tried! Always willing to help you, and always takes time to answer questions. He does have a sense of humour which will make an appearance every now and then, too...

Generally the explanations are good - but there were a few (not positive) surprises in the marking when the first assignments came back!

He is one of the best professors I`ve ever had. I detest Statistics ( any Math) and was terribly worried when I took this course but he is such an amazing professor. You need to do your part-attend class, do your bit. If you don`t like stats take his course and you will be very pleased. This is my favourite course now!

Very clear and concise professor and EXTREMELY easy. Class is boring because he repeats the same things over and over. You do not have to buy a textbook but you must go to class. Take his class if you are looking for something easy.

I mean it's stats. It's a boring class, but he teaches it well, he makes things clear and gives you notes. It is easy to do well, but i would recomend taking his class twice a week rather then in one three hour block. Oh, and hope you dont get an really dumb people in your class.. they ask the most useless questions and slow down the learning..

Yeah, stats are boring, but you should still take his class. He clearly explains what you need to know. There's no required textbooks for this class, so attendence is a must. From what I've heard, the other profs that teach this class are AWFUL. I'm glad I have Mehri again next semester! Make sure you take him for Stats I/II!

Very easy to understand very clear. On the other hand, he tends to mark on your explanations (for stats) more than the actual mathematical work which can screw you over during exams if you don't remember them, but other than that very good teacher, very to the point and gives in class examples to work on so you can ask questions if you don't get it

prof made stats look easy and teaches the material well so that it is easy. attendance isn't mandatory, but i HIGHLY recommend that you don't skip a class - there is no textbook to catch up with. cumulative final exam, but don't worry. he offers review classes, and good lecture notes.

he's good in general however the problem w/ his class is that it's too easy. he doesn't really teach much, i walked away feeling unsatisfied. he doesn't prepare you for any other stats classes you may take down the road unless it's w/ him. too systematic in his style. i don't recommend him as a teacher of stats.

This teacher is AMAZING!!! I had him for Stats I and seriously I got really good grades because of his explanations and course pack. If you want to do good in this class you need to go to class and listen to the lectures. He usually gives a midterm, 7-8 assignments that count and a final exam.

I seem to be alone in this but I hated this class! I really liked math in high school but this class made me want to die every minute I was there. Attendance is necessary, it's not an easy course. Do the practice questions. I brought up the grey area of Gender as an issue with Stats but he said leave that to science- ignorant.

Love this Prof! He is super clear, goes at a good pace and is easy to understand. The coursepack is perfect. Just do the assignments and practice examples regularly because the final is worth 50% of the grade.

The class was easy but I found that he is an inconsistent marker. when comparing assignments with a male friend, I always found that he has more lenient towards the guys. My friend and I had almost identical assignments and he would receive 3-5 points higher than me. When we confronted the teacher he would completely ignore the confrontation.

With the help of Dr. Merhi, I got A+ on both SOCI 212 and SOCI 213. Thanks for his teaching! I highly recommend him. You will not regret, for he can make complicated statistics more easier, as well as can make abstract statistics more concrete and interesting! If you take anyone else for stats, it's your own loss. I absolutely detest anything having to with math and numbers, but he somehow makes it easy to understand. If it weren't for him, I might have failed. Concordia is lucky to have this guy.

In my stats 212 class, he gave many assignments in which you get a week to complete each one. These are really easy to do well on and get the 29% of your mark that they are worth if you do them!! Midterm and exam are identical to practices given in course pack. If you miss a class, the course pack is very helpful for catching up!!

Best teacher for stats. If you find stats hard to grasp, he makes it as easy as possible. There are a lot of assignments but you almost always get perfect (repeat what you learnt in class, he just uses different numbers) so it only helps boost your grade.

He breaks down the material in a clear manner. If you go to class and do the practice examples, you should be fine. I think the practice examples make all of the difference. He sometimes seemed reluctant to answer questions but he still would. I think he just prefers if you show up during office hours than take the class time to ask.

Hussein is a good prof, a little boring at times... but hey, it's statistics.. He is pretty clear in his lectures, but try sitting up front as it is hard to hear him sometimes. The class is pretty fast paced, so if you're new to stats you need to SHOW UP. He sometimes gives extra points on assignments, which is cool.

I was in LOW math for high school, but I got an A in this class! He is one of the best profs I've ever had! He is clear and concise and his course packs are REALLY HELPFUL! Make sure you attend EVERY lecture, do ALL the practice problems in the course pack and you will be fine. Try to sit at the front of the class so that you can hear everything!

I have been a student since 2011 (and although I changed programs a lot) I put off taking stats cause I HATE MATH!!! Hussein Merhi makes it EASY! Seriously, if you need to take stats and you have him as an option, TAKE HIM!

Honestly, math related subjects are so NOT my strong suit. But, with Hussein it's never felt so easy. He works everything out with you step by step and explains several times if you don't understand. He makes his own coursepack which I find is better than a mathmaticians textbook. I regret taking Aaron for Stats 2 because he is NOWHERE near as good

It's a fast paced course, however as long as you stay on top of your work and read through your notes prior to each class there's no reason to get anything below the A-range. Assignments are very straight forward & similar to textbook examples. Highly recommend!

I was worried about this class because I find math very hard to understand yet this became one of my favourite courses because of how well I was able to follow along. The course pack follows his lecture exactly which makes studying very easy. If you don't understand something you can ask him to reexplain it after class. He is very approachable.

I took Prof. Merhi for Soci 212 and I would definitely take him again!! I found his lectures were super straightforward and he explains the info well. He's also clear with what he wants for he wants for the assignments and the exam. If you show up to class, do all the assignments and study for the exam, you could definitely get an A!

Truthfully, this professor is my dad and even though I don't go to Concordia or have a class with him, he's overall a very understandable and helpful person. He's very quick with the exam corrections, I see it myself. Plus, he's very receptive if you need anything just ask away. Give it a go :)

Don't skip any classes. He can be a little unclear when teaching new concepts so take that class time to really ask questions when you don't understand and he will be more than willing to explain himself again. For all his assignments I made sure to get them done 2 days before they were actually due so I could get feedback before I had to submit.

I appreciated that he posted short videos explaining the week's core lesson, which he would explain in-depth during the lectures. Because of covid, my job, my other courses, and my inability to do math, I didn't do great in this class, but his format made it possible for me to pass. I wish his marking was more specific so I knew what I did wrong.

I hate math and was really stressed to take a stats course, but I found Merhi made it easy. Although the lectures were somewhat bland, he still made everything very clear and easy to catch up if you missed a lecture. Sure him and his lectures are monotone but he simplifies statistics and his courses are very clear. he is very straightforward with what he expects from his students and as long as you keep up with the assignments you will get a good grade

One of the best out of I have ever had! You MUST take him. Clear and simple lectures, no tricks, polite, patient, could be boring at times bc its stats but he is really fair and has a good grading structure and teaching approach. Top tier at concordia hands down. I have a lot of respect for this teacher!

Professor Merhi is one of the best professors I have had so far, and I hope I can have him again as my prof for Stats 2. He simplifies statistics, content is clear, and he even posts videos apart from his lectures explaining each chapter in detail which I find helpful. He is difficult to reach by email, but he has office hours ever week! 10/10.

Took both 212 and 213 with him and so glad I did. His teaching and the textbook made it easy to do well in the class.

His teaching style is easy to understand, most of the practice questions and the coursepack are not necessary for the material. Homework every two weeks keeps you up to date.

Lectures can be a bit boring, but they are clear and straightforward. If you read the coursepack and attend lectures you will surely pass this class. An easy grader since exams/assignments are straightforward and all based on the coursepack.

In fact, he is very benevolent and because of him I passed this class easily. You just need to follow the coursepack (expensive BUT SO USEFUL AND CLEAR I'd keep it my whole life).

Hussein is a king I took him for soci212 and 213 and he uses a very clear textbook. He's very kind and will always help you if you're having trouble. Very straightforward for people who aren't great at math / don't really like math.

Merhi's lectures can be a bit dry, but he clearly explains the stats material. The coursework is manageable, and unstuck AI was a lifesaver for practice. Just stay engaged and you'll do well in this class.

Good stats teacher def recommend taking. Very clear explanations, available during office hours, flexible (holds class online in case of transit strikes), lots of practices examples in coursepack (not graded/ mandatory but good for exam prep), attendance not mandatory but highly encouraged, plus he cracks jokes sometimes lol so not a boring class

Anyone who's taken him can agree he's a very passionate teacher, who clearly enjoys teaching about statistics. While the class is pretty heavy in material, he makes it very clear to understand, and the grading criteria is objective. If you go to class and do the assignments, you're sure to get a good grade.

Great prof. really helped students to really learn the material and is open to answering quick questions after class. While it is lecture-heavy, you do get to learn in a "textbooky" way. There are also assignments every week that are easy marks if you do them well.
