He gives notes on simple stuff in class and then makes it ten times harder on the online homework and worksheet assignments. Grades on attendance so you have to go. Makes everything really hard so that you have to go to the math center to get help or you wont pass.
he is a great teacher, explains well.
Great teacher
this professor is very good and helpful, all you have to is studying the notes verywell
Be prepared to take detailed notes including some from sources not given during lectures. Very nice Prof but you are teaching yourself a lot as well. The assignments prepare you for the tests yet require you to think past the notes you take in class.
A really passionate professor who truly cares about teaching his students. Very helpful and offers us many resources outside of the classroom. Gives us many extra credit opportunities, take home assignments, and is always available to help us. Honestly my favorite math teacher thus far.
He's a nice guy but when it turns to teaching its a miss.
8 Assignments and 3 tests will make up the bulk of your grade. Theres a final but its not weighed heavy enough alone to save you if you did bad on a test. Youll need to get good grades on the homework (which there is tons of) and extra credit (given every now and again but dont assume you'll be given any at all just to be safe) to make up for it.
well, he is a good , talented teacher. his teaching method is easy to learn.
Hes a very nice guy and kinda funny sometimes. Hes pretty relatable too. But his lectures have no structure and he doesnt teach from a book, but rather his own head. He said a very hard teacher too. Not much slack is given, if any. Theres three tests and 7 assignments and they are all very hard so dont get comfy. Theres also tons of homework
He is not a bad teacher, the problem I have is that the homework assignments were a lecture ahead and the lab was a lecture behind from the in class lecture. Also he gives so much work it's hard to do it all when taking other classes and maintaining a job.
Professor Nguyen is an amazing teacher. He is DEDICATED to helping his students learn. If you have a concern, JUST ASK HIM! He is very accomodating. You will have to do alot of homework problems, but the repetition helps for the tests. YOU WILL BE READY FOR MAT1033!! Gives sample tests for all 4 exams, and drops your lowest test score at the end.
Very nice professor
Great teacher, math center is your friend
A great professor. He is very understanding and well give more time on homework assignments if needed. He will make sure you pass and will help you do better on your next tests.
He will be my math professor for all my math courses love the way he teaches
This man loves math and wants you to love it as well, Lots of homework but always helps when the test comes.
Good teacher, can be difficult at times but if you put in the effort you will get the grade you deserve.
Hes a funny guy and he truly cares about his students. Sometimes hard to understand and confusing. Lots of questions every week.
Great teacher just do the homework and the Lab worksheet and you should be fine.
Good professor but expect to work more by your own. most recommended for college algebra
Very helpful and understandable professor
Took for Trig Pros: Very organized and knowledgeable. Semester is well structured. Sample tests are given. There is extra credit. Cons: You will need to do outside research. If you can't independently recognize/ apply all college algebra formulas and concepts on your own, you will have to put in a LOT of extra work. Assignments are very difficult
Professor Huy Nguyen gives a bit of homework and if you fall behind he will work with you to get you back on track.
This was my first class after 5 years of work in the field. If you are not good with algebra, you must review algebra concepts. Professor gives a lot of extra credit for students who try to do examples of problems in class, so go for it,that helped me to boost my grade Professor is fair play , do everything he suggests and don't wait till last min.
Maybe he's good in class but online there is way to much homework and no lectures he just links random peoples youtube videos and thats how we "learn". When you email him you get one word answers usually, a sentence if you're lucky.
I would not recommend you to pay for this class just to be linked YouTube videos and given an absurd amount of homework. The grading criteria is not clear at all, some days he would mark points off while as others he wouldn't. Every time I email him with a problem/question that I a have, he responds in at least 5 hours with just a few words.
How do I start... this is my first year and this professor has given me the worst experience ever. You can get the right answer and show all your work and you'll still get points marked off. When you email him about it he will give you a nasty attitude almost like he doesn't care. The class is mainly youtube videos and math problems
This professor was the worst teacher I have had all my life. Trust me do not take this course. This guy has gone out his way to fail me and is ridiculous and offers absolutely 0 help he instead just gives back snarky remarks. Take someone else cause you wont learn anything from this guy and his class is a nightmare and not professional.
Math isnt my best subject but I was able to pass this class without any real struggles. I did have issues with my tests not loading and he is very understanding about that. Gives you time to complete your work, not overwhelming.
I have to admit, I'm not the best at math, it isn't my best subject. With that said, this class was so helpful, and Prof. Nguyen did a fantastic job when it came to presenting the topics in an online class. There were always zoom meetings to help with assignments, prep for tests, and anything else math-related. I would recommend this class to all.
Professor Nguyen was a good professor. The work he gave wasn't hard and gave time to complete the test. He is a tough grader and is important that you show all work for Labs and Tests.
Course is a lot but hes very accommodating and is willing to help!
The class was not super hard but there is tons of homework but he does give time to complete the work. overall not a bad class
I liked his class because I was able to be at my own pace, and Im pretty slow,so I needed it. Overall, I would recommend him as a professor if youre thinking of doing 1033C.
He was always available to help, he did a zoom twice a week that was not mandatory but always helpful. His TAs also held zooms multiple times a week and were there to help with the homework. If you email him he usually responds within 12 hours. The class was easy if you took notes and actually watched the videos he assaigns.
Good professor gives good resources.
If youre going to be taking this class through Covid I hope youre already strong at math. So much homework and if you miss even a little piece of your scratch work your grade will tank.
Lots of work is given but you have the videos, lessons, and the textbook provided to you by him. And you can always send an email/message when needing help.
Make sure you do the homework and the labs showing your work. Thats majority of your credit
If you need help, you can always email him.
The Professor is very nice, replies to emails quite fast, and the material is very accessible and easy to learn, but homework is a lot but can be done fast.
The material for classwork and the labs are very easy and he responds very quickly to emails however, the tests are much harder than all the other coursework and if you are not prepared they will trip you up.
Most of his class was based on homework. At one point it just felt like busy work because it got so repetitive aside from that, the class as very straight the point and helpful.
He cares about his students and wants them to succeed. Would recommend
Tests can make or break your graded and there is only 3. Lots of homework, most of the content learned not on the test. Avoid taking this teacher if you do not want to work for your grade
Did this course online due to covid and was met with great resources to help me succeed. Very professional and helpful!
There are only three test. The questions on the test are nothing like the labs. Makes you show work and if you miss one step he takes off so many ppints
I enjoyed taking Math1033 with Professor Huy Nguyen. He was very clear since the beginning and always opened to assist. He responds to messages clearly and is available to help with anything you dont understand. Really enjoyed taking his class besides how tough days can be now.
I liked taking his class because he had the same plan every week which made it easy to plan for and he was also always happy to help.
Professor Nguyen is a wonderful teacher! He is almost always available to help you with anything. The lessons are clear and concise as well as having a set due date for Labs and Homework. Although the class is quite homework heavy it can be done! If you have trouble procrastinating I don't recommend.
great teacher, must show work. takes tons of points off for that.
Very easy to navigate the course, professor answers back very fast.
This was my first classes after a four years break from school and it was different pace, but towards the end I really feel I caught footing and the feel that the professor did a great job towards helping me with my questions. Would take again!!
Good professor grades and Criteria clearly laid out You get the work done youll pass
He is knowledgeable and card student learning
He is great teacher
Professor Nguyen was a pretty good professor. The only work that you had to do were exercises in MatLab, which are pretty easy. He gives a textbook that is free to use. If you follow the textbook; the exercises will be very easy. There is a lab once every week; very easy. Test come a few times, only 4; including final. Make sure to SHOW YOUR WORK.
No regrets in taking prof Nguyen, you are going to do homework, but it varies by week on the volume. Very descriptive and replies quick to emails. Would take him again if need be.
Your grade relies on the three to four tests given in the semester, and the professor is very tough on grading. All work must be shown, or else he takes off points. Sometimes you show work, and its unclear why points were taken off. Gives student attitude when asking for help or making mistakes. Unhelpful responses to emails. Relies on YT videos.
Nothing on test is ever what we actually learn
Good professor
Getting a decent grade in this class can be hard because his tests have barely anything to do with the homework he assigns. Along with that, he harshly grades shown work and won't allow you to deviate from what he thinks is acceptable work.
Simply put I didnt enjoy this class at all. Tests are simple but made complicated because of how he wants you to show work. Pretty much same with the homework. Wouldnt recommend at all.
Great teacher and great communication
I took Professor Nguyen's class during the pandemic so it is online. He is accessible outside class unless he says otherwise. He responds to emails fairly quick and is also available for zoom calls, which you have to appoint. For those entering this course there are lab sessions that are included.
The homework site used has about 4 attempts per question, but they are easy to do if you watch the video or follow textbook examples. The labs for this class is very easy because it is on the homework and if you need help lab instructors are available and teacher has Zoom session. The test are graded based on the amount of work shown. Free textbook
I've had him for an online math class. there's only so much he can do for that. the class was mostly self study unless you had a zoom meeting with his one of his assistances where they help anyone for 2 hours going over the weeks upcoming work (very helpful). he's a fair teacher with a slight accent.
Professor Huy Nguyen is really good on answering questions and making sure you understand. He responds back quickly and give good advise and feedback , I was going to drop the class but he advise me not to and im glade i didn't because he really worked with me to improve my grades.
Mr. Nguyen is very straightforward and to the point. He has all his course materials planned and laid out in the syllabus. I like that there is a set schedule for assignments, labs, and exams. This helps my organizational and time management skills. He also provides a lot of information on the topics with video explanations and an online textbook.
A lot of work but the help is given
Professor Nguyen is a very helpful teacher and always makes sure we understand the material. He is always available o ask questions and dont quite understand a lesson. He also provides us with tutoring resources.
Professor Nyguen is very knowledgeable but this leads to him zooming through the lectures and some people have trouble keeping up
Mr. Nguyen is by far the best math teacher I've ever had. He cares about each student's success and he gives everyone the tools to succeed. There's a lot of homework but the only way you're gonna get good at math is practice. Attendance isn't a grade but he (and I) strongly suggest showing up to as many classes as possible because it will help!
The teacher is okay if u go to class and study a lot you will pass but he definitely doesnt teach the material the best.
Professor Nguyen's lectures will leave you will an adequate amount of information in order for you to get the basics done. In order to complete some of the work given, or all of the tests given, further studying on the topics given is heavily recommended. Overall he was a nice professor, responded to emails, and provided extra help when asked.
Don't take the class unless you already know intermediate algebra. Don't take it from me, he will be the first to say "you should already know this!" every lecture. Rude af. His homework approach and his grasp of pedagogy are eye-watering. He's needlessly causing more confusion for students who don't even know what's going on in the first place.
In this class as long as you pay attention and attend labs youll be fine the labs are what got me because i kept forgetting to submit but hes pretty easy going
Good teacher!
Professor Huy is a solid math teacher and would try his best to help us succeed
If you don't have good background knowledge, don't bother. The lectures are fine but assignments are a bit tedious and it's really hard to properly communicate with him online. You'll often find yourself explaining yourself multiple times AND still not getting an actual answer. Exams also have < 10 questions so if you mess some up you're done for.
Loved this professor! No pop quizzes and only 3 tests and a final. Tests being only 5 questions and final 9. Its really easy to get 100% on all the homeworks because the questions have unlimited attempts. Hes also very forgiving and willing to help his students whatever it takes. I really recommend Professor Nguyen!
It was a really good class, the professor is very fair with his grades and he explains really good.
Honestly a great professor. He actually cares about his students and guides them to success. The course is fairly easy as long as you understand the material. Highly recommend!
Professor Nguyen is a very good professor, I always felt like I could ask a question if I was confused about something and he would be very helpful, always willing to help his students succeed. There were 3 tests in the course all being 5 questions, weekly homework, occasional assignments, and the final. Attendance isn't required but recommended!
The class was pretty good. I am not a math person so it was difficult for me but may not be for everyone.
Professor Nguyen is a great Professor, he cares for students and he wants us to do well. The only thing I would say is the homework on connectmath can be a little confusing vs. his lectures but you can ask him questions, he will try his best to answer them. He's willing to work with you, as long as you're putting an effort in the class.
I liked this class, the professor is very lenient and wants the best for his students. The homework due every week is usually pretty short
He is very understanding. If you need more help he is willing to give it to you. Make sure to take notes since his test only has a few questions and also look at his YouTube channel it is very helpful.
Class was tough, but the professor is willing to work with you on what needs to get done. I did not attend class often, but I am sure sitting through his lectures would have helped me a lot. 1-3 homework assignments due every week and his tests are tough but you're able to work with other students on them. Make sure you show your work well!
Professor Nguyen is an awesome teacher. His lectures were amazing and easy to understand. He let us worked together on assignments and tests!
Professor Nguyen is a great teacher. As long as you participate and follow along with his lectures you should be fine. He cares a lot about his students and their learning experience. I highly recommend taking him!
Mr. Nguyen is a good teacher.
Professor Nguyen is very knowledgeable. He is humorous in his teaching style Highly Recommended!
The class is heavily lectured. However, he has plan for you to do well on tests. He also offers sample tests. Tests are based on examples in lectures, so you should go to class often. He is a hilarious professor
I have never had more misfortune than taking this class. Tests are 6 questions each no multiple choice. If you get one question wrong, sorry. Done. That's it. Teacher rushes through lectures and is a "you should have learned this last year" kind of dude. His solution for needing help with math is to "try harder." L teacher, waste of money.
If you are a self-learner, then take this class. Otherwise, don't do it. Quick emails for feedback, very little explanation, lab meetings once a week with a tutor, a lot of exercises for practice, tough tests if you don't study, and a free textbook.
Class would be hard if you dont study Tests are tough, but a great professor with humor and skill You would learn lots of thing from him
This professor was good but be prepared to keep up as it is easy to get lost.
Professor Nguyen is an amazing professor. His lectures are organized and informative. Homework gets difficult but the tests are easier. He provides opportunities on the pdf to redeem you grade. He is indeed a tough grader but the quality of teaching is very high.
Professor Ngyuyen is a good teacher in terms of concept. He gives plenty of in class practice with collaboration. Even though I didn't receive a good grade in this class. This had more to do with the difficulty in the problems he provides which is a good thing. I certainly will remember most of the concepts learned with him.
He is a very good lecturer comes in ready and organized and you get the idea from the lecture almost every time. He is willing to answer questions no matter how dumb they are he is very smart and you can tell by the questions he creates which can get to the point where tutors cannot solve them.
You will have 2-3 homework each week, they are not that hard. He responds to emails very quickly. If you have any questions he will be more than happy to help you. If you need an extension for a homework he will give it to you, with the exceptions of the PDF Assignments. However, PDF Assignment and test questions might be challenging.
Really concise lectures and good notes, if you study and practice the material you'll do fine. 3 tests, 3 graded pdfs, and final. homework is worth a lot so definitely do your best on it.
Professor Nguyen is a great teacher. As long as you put in the work, you should be fine. He also gives practice tests that you can take before you do the actual tests.
He is a professor that makes the course feel like a college course. While difficult he is easy to communicate with and any grade you receive is a grade you feel you earned. I recommend that the best way to survive is find a study group with other students in the class, as he recommends. This is what we did and it produced good results.
Good professor. Willing to go above and beyond.
Prof. Nguyen is a good and fun teacher. Even though he may be too relaxed sometimes, he is an excellent teacher who helps us and makes us understand what is going on. There are very few teachers out there who want the student to understand the logic behind the concept instead of making them memorize it. Prof. Nguyen is one of them.
Professor has a very strong math knowledge. Must be prepared for the Test with only difficult problems. Test are 7-10 questions.
He is enthusiastic in teaching and very knowledgeable! test questions are 95% similar to examples in lecture notes. Do homework, lab. Definitely you will pass with B easily
Great professor! If you want to learn math, take the course with him. He cares about your grade as long as you care about your learning If you take the class and expect to get free credit, I dont think he is the guy you are looking for . He curves at the end any way
Professor Nguyen is friendly and enthusiastic, good lecture
He has easy to understand lessons and helps us a lot. He has great tests
Easy class ever. Just do hw, labs, tests He replies email and canvas message very fast He curves!
The class is not easy , nor is it too hard ! he keeps everything fair If you think you come to his class and still get credit for doing nothing, I dont recommend you to take his class
HW for every chapter, 3 sample tests (extremely similar to tests), 3 tests, & 1 final exam. You can use cheat sheet and calculator on exam. He doesn't post lecture notes or suggests videos, I recommend to make friends in the class if you plan on missing class to get notes. Lectures are clear and it's routine work. He has a great personality.
Professor Nguyen is awesome. He gives good rememberable lectures, answers all questions, and lets you know what you did wrong. He allows formula sheets for tests, and only assigns homework and 4 tests, including the final. He is funny and helpful, and encourages students to help each other out with any work they are struggling with.
He's definitely not the worst professor but if you don't create a study group it is extremely hard to pass easily. Professor Nguyen also does not cater to or seem to really care about personal issues and will push you too far if he thinks you can pass; I would not take him again for math.
He is knowledgeable. His lighthearted personality definitely make him stand out from most teachers. Very nice guy! but he requires you to work in group. He does not have project but he recommends students to work in group
This is my online class. He has Honor-lock for quizzes and tests, He doesn't teach, he only puts YouTube videos in the module, He makes you pay for Pearson which costs $90, He requires you to show your work to get graded, and lastly, he grades heavily, 35% for the homework, 15% for each quiz (3 quizzes making it 45% in total) and the final is 25%.
USES HONORLOCK. He posts a schedule of when you should submit everything but it doesn't match up with the due dates on Canvas, so if you're a procrastinator like me, its not the best.
He's a great person and often makes jokes during his lectures. He encourages you to work in groups and be in contact with them in case you miss a day of class. The homework assignments were fairly easy, they are all due the day before the test.
Pretty good professor. He provides a video for every topic and then mostly 15-question "Mymathlabs." There isn't much interaction besides those videos for each topic. If you like self-learning, this class is for you.
Professor Nguyen's MAC1114 class is well-structured, with clear lectures and helpful practice materials. Though the workload is manageable, staying engaged is key to success. The Unstuck AI app was a game-changer for exam prep alongside the sample tests.
sweet guy, not very emotional but tries his best to convey joy in his lectures. exams are a few questions on paper, you have to show work, and write out the answer. exams weigh a lot! he cares for your success, just do your best and know how to work out problems. he does give you a practice exam that looks really similar to the real exam.
pretty bad professor. no offense but heavy accent, a little difficult to understand sometimes. he sniffles and snorts and coughs so loud in the youtube video lecture.. it's really disgusting to hear all of that.. he also makes so many mistakes in his lecture examples. probably a super smart guy bc his lecture sounds like he does everything off top
Not a bad guy, uses honor lock. I would just avoid taking him. There was about 2-4 assignments a week, but the lectures are long and a little hard to follow. There are 3 main tests, and one final. They way a lot.
Mr. Nguyen is a good professor; he gives lots of homework but gives you a huge amount of time to complete it. Only 3 big tests and covers all the material in homework. Overall easy class and very understanding when it comes to any problems I encountered. I would definitely recommend!!
