I found Prof. Kim's class to be incredibly interesting and was very impressed with the level of instruction. Some students in class refuse to pay attention and text/pass notes and I could see how that might get in the way. The class has been challenging, fun and very interesting. Would highly recommend it to students interested in learning the su
Professor Kim is not a good teacher and needs to go back to California and teach. His class average is very low and his final is impossible to pass. He expects to much on it.I can never understand what he says because is accent is strong. He makes you feel stupid when you ask a question, so don't. I DO NOT recommend him.
He's not a good teacher. He is very unclear in his lectures. Most of the time, he skips in his lectures about what he wants to do. His tests are extremely hard and it does not go along with the material in the book.
The mandatory homework was simple and the text book was vague. Extra credit questions based on the lecture is available for as many homework are given, the tests are based on the lectures. The extra credit is what is needed to pass the test. He is very friendly and willing to help with anything. Do the extra credit and homework, guaranteed A plus.
Contrary to the reviews, he is an enjoyable teacher. His lectures are interesting and the homework is simple. He gives us enough extra credit throughout the semester to raise our grade an entire letter grade and he gives us a choice on the exam. I would recommend him to anybody interested in Religions
Im definitely not the most studious person but if you attend class regularly, actually pay attention and listen to what the man is saying there is absolutely no reason why you should not ace the class. Its simple, do the HW and pay attention in lecture your looking at an A. There are so many XC opportunities you could nap in class and pass easily.
This past semester was this professor's first at MCC. It was obvious that he was very suprised and disappointed by the students' low expectations for themselves. Is his class a breeze? No. But this is college, you're supposed to work for it. If you're looking for a class that's going to open your mind a little, i'd definitely suggest this one.
Excellent teacher in my opinion. Yes, it was his first year teaching at MCC, but that just means is he was used to teaching at a college in which students actually care about their education. He can't be faulted that student's didn't care enough to apply themselves and earn a grade. You earned extra credit for doing the studyguides!
Professor kims class was enjoyable. the homework was simple plenty of extra credit. this class will open your mind and cause you to think a little bit.I would recommend this class to anyone
I have mixed feelings about him. He can be very rude and uncaring about his students. He makes you feel like you should already know the material. He is hard to understand which makes the tests hard because they are based on his lectures. However he is very thorough in grading papers and tells you exactly what he wants you to change to get an A.
His course does not flow well. He doesn't post assignments promptly. I agree with these comments: He is hard to understand which makes the tests hard because they are based on his lectures. However he is very thorough in grading papers and tells you exactly what he wants you to change to get an A.
Nice class! Easy A! You must do your homework that is really easy and right out of the book but he does give homework everyday. A lot of extra credit, tests are just like the study guides but shorter. No talking or leaving in the middle of class for nothing. I sure enjoyed it though!
I took this class because it is required. The textbook use is minimal he usually prints off materials or puts them on Angel. Sometimes he is hard to understand, but the test are from the handouts and worksheets super easy to pass.
easy class if you do your work- you have a small assignment due every class- he is very fair and lets you make up tests if you need to- he gives you every opportunity to make an a on every test- he puts up mock quizes online that you can take as many times as you like- and they are word for word on the actual test
Professor Kim is an excellent teacher. We only used one of the two text books for the first half of the semester. At first he appears very strict, even making you sign a contract, but throughout the semester lightens up. I highly recommend him.
I think he's great. it really is an easy class if you do your work. he gives you every oppurtunity to get an A. lots of extra credit too.
Prof Kim's lectures are pretty boring. He stutters a lot and is kind of hard to follow. But his class is really easy. He posts practice tests on angel that are identical to the test questions. All you have to do is memorize the questions and answers. And DON'T buy the books. You don't use them so it's a waste of money.
If you are 1 second late to class you are counted absent. Too many absences and he will drop you. His lectures are hard to understand - disjointed and he stutters alot. I would not recommend him.
His intro to world religions class is very passable! He gives you everything you need to get 100%, plus a lot of extra credit. If you get into the lectures it can be very intriguing. He's good and I would recommend him to anyone who is willing to do a mild amount of work.
HW assignment due every class, very easy though, can work ahead. Test on each religion, there are 6, tests are SUPER easy. Offers a lot of xtra credit opportunities. All in all decent teacher. Is somewhat funny. Seems to be agnostic. A little arrogant, but not unbearably. You can only miss at most 6 classes or he'll drop you.
This was the easiest online class I have taken to date. You have unlimited times to submit your assignments so there is no reason for you not to get an A. Prof. Kim also replied to e-mails promptly.
Great teacher, really helpful and funny. Cares about students tht try. Offers tons of extra credit and as long as you do the work youll be fine.
Very funny and caring as to whether or not the student understands the material and makes it his goal to clarify and help out. young, laid back, cig smoking dude. just get to class on time or he wont accept your homework or attendance. oh and you cant use the bathroom during class.
Super easy class. At first he makes it seem hard but it's WAY easy.
He's funny and doesn't play around. If you're late often he won't like you. He starts class at the exact time. EASY EASY EASY A, if you don't get an A in his class it's your own fault and probably shouldn't be in college. I recieved a 104.5 in his class. TAKE HIM.
Agree with the below comment. EASY A, if you can't handle his class, do something other than college. Got some 104% as well.Took class as prerequisite, and now love philosophy!
took online, he gave assignments early which was nice so you could work ahead. test material came from lecture assignments. goo teach, I recommend
This was an online course. Which I enjoyed but there is ALOT of work to be done. He has alot of RULES and they have to be followed. I have read on here his class is an "easy A" it is if you do the work and follow the rules. Don't think you will come out of his class with an "A" and not have to do anything to earn the grade.
Great professor who cares about the students. His class is not hard but there is ALOT of work that has strict deadlines. IF you put forth the effort, you will do great. He does NOT play around!
Great teacher, knows what hes teaching and keeps you interested. If you pay attention you should do fine.
Expectations are made clear, course material itself is easy if you pay attention to lecture and do the work. There is a lot of course work and since it is a Gordon Rule course, it's an intense writing course. He grades tougher than the ENC profs at SCF. Doesn't allow interruptions, which is great, since its so distracting! Great prof and course!!
He requires you to think a lot about ethics and morals. Dont bother buying the books, he gives you everything you need online. This class takes up a lot of my time but really makes you think. If you try hard you will get a good grade. Good Professor and I would definitely recommend him.
easy teacher, online h.w / quizes super easy. quizes are same questions as tests, making tests easy. Final project not as easy, if your group slacks that hurts your grade. Out of 5, 3 people in my group were great, we all recieved A's in the class, the other 2 recieved C's.
Quizzes are very easy, he gives you all the information you need beforehand and the tests are questions taken directly from the quizzes. Don't buy the books-- you won't need them.
Great teacher, really seems to come stiff in the beginnning but jokes around after. Really does make you think about ethics and whats true in life. Really recommend him, tests are straight from quizzes and take a good bit of work but well worth it.
I have taken three courses with Professor Kim, and he is the Best! Don't let him fool you in the beginning..he is not hard, and he is really nice if you come to class on time and joke around with him. He also really cares about his students and his subject...if he likes you! ;)
Awesome teacher! Satan himself when it comes to writing papers. He has a very high standard but gives you plenty of time to make sure it's done properly. I would take one of his classes again.
Excellent professor. He knows how to teach, and provides the student with helpful study guides.
Took REL2300 online, easiest class ever. Hoping to take Prof Kim for PHI2600 as well. Questions based off reading, requires work but still easy. Lecture assignments are verbatim from lecture, as are quizzes. Discussions required for each section. Prof answers questions quickly, admits when mistakes are made. Great professor, definitely recommend!
Kim is cool as hell, hes sarcastic and rude. his class is easy just do the mock quizzes and all the test answers are right there. def taking him again for philosophy.
he is creepy and hilarious... class can be bored and fun at the same time.. love the jokes and his evilness :D tests are easy learn from the mock quizzes you do fine. recommend taking him and ask weird questions.... its fun
Took this class online. Easy class until you get to the final project. The project is very confusing and due dates are hard to manage by. His emails are often confusing to most of the class. He also doesn't email you back right away when you need help.
If you do the reading he gives you and study for a couple hours before each test you'll get an easy +A. His lectures are enjoyable and the group project at the end of the year, while somewhat of a headache at first, ended up being a lot of fun. If you want to take philosophy courses at SCF I'd recommend taking them with Professor Kim.
Took Kim for World Religions & Applied Ethics. EASY A. Great professor, be on time, do the mock quizzes & you will get 100% in his class. Basically hands you the A if you do the MQ. Fav Prof.
Overall, he is a good teacher. As long as you do all of the assignments and do them on time, you should be able to pass the course easily. The most difficult part of this entire course was the final project because it requires a lot of research.
Very nice and helpful. Responded to questions in a timely manner. Material was easy to understand and assignments were evenly spaced out. I would definitely recommend this professor!
I literally got 100% in the class. It's a lot of work at first but it's easy. Tons of extra credit opportunities. He's pretty funny. Tests are easy if you study, if not you will get a C at best. Stickler about absences and tardiness. If your 1 min late your absent. If you have to take ethics he is your guy.
He is very funny and very sarcastic. Lots of opportunity for extra credit, not that you will need it if you follow his instructions. Fun class, and the debate at the end is pretty easy. keep a close eye on the syllabus.
I took Eastern Philosophy and Intro to Logic with Kim. I really enjoyed all of his lectures, and going to his class was usually the high point in my day. He doesn't spoon feed you, and he gives you enough space for self reflection. Very funny and nice guy. If you put in the effort and challenge yourself you'll get what you want out of his course.
There is really no way to describe his personality. He's extremely friendly and extremely sarcastic. He'll tell you that he hates you and that you're failing. Don't believe him. The class is easy and the group project sounds harder than it is. Take Prof. Kim!
One of the bet professors at SCF, I take his class every chance I get now for electives, I took ethics with him and he makes class entertaining! and verrry few teachers at scf do that. I normally want to fall asleep in every other class! If you do the mock quizzes you'll get a 100 on the test! TAKE HIM! you wont regret it, you will want him again
Professor Kim is super cool and his lectures are always hilarious. He's very knowledgeable about the topics and asking him weird questions is always a lot of fun. If you share his sense of humour you will find it'll become one of your favorite classes. It is a guaranteed A if you show up and do the homework. He really hands you an A. Really.
Attendence is quite loose. Class mood is casual. Probably because it was a evening class. Test are multiple choice , easy. You do need to read some parts of textbook to do assignments.
Intro to World Religions ONLINE. Great experience. Easy A if you complete the work. Professor offers extra credit opportunities. Did not have any tests, only quizzes based on the homework. Online homework is time consuming so do not wait until the last minute. Overall if you complete all the assignments you will get an A.
Professor Kim is the nuttiest professor at State College of Florida. His humor is dry and I find myself laughing at his jokes long after they're told. I took him for Intro to Philosophical Reasoning, and I'm happy I did. He really makes you think philosophically and takes pleasure in blowing our minds. I definitely recommend him.
He is the cutest professor at SCF. Seriously, if you're not late or disrespectful and you are interested in learning, you will have an awesome time. The class is easy if you do your work.
He's hella sassy and super fun, his rules are simple but they depend on each class. Really easy to talk to and as long as you go to class, he's willing to help you out. His tests are incredibly easy. His jokes tend to be punny drydark and it's great, he's a super professor.
I took this course online as an accelerated course. The layout and expectations are very clear and easy to navigate. I found the course to be so interesting that ready the textbook was like ready a good book. He suggests you to think critically and discuss amongst your peers. looking forward to taking him again!
Professor Kim was one of the best online classes I've ever taken at SCF. All of his instructions were clear and concise. You really have to try really hard to not get an A in this class because Professor Kim gives more than enough opportunities of extra credit. Take this professor!!!
He is very funny. His class in general is easy. If you do the work you should get an A. His tests are exactly his quizzes. So study the Quiz Questions and you will get a 100% on the test. I took him online and in person, great both ways. Easy A. I would recommend
Really Enjoyed the class. I took his 12 week course. Pretty fast pace. But really enjoyed it. I had him before for an actual class and he is very strict on being on time other than that, i really enjoyed his sense of humor and style.
This Professor is the best that SCF has to offer IMO. He knows the material! If one has an interest, than his classes are the way to go.
He was a GREAT teacher! You can tell he REALLY loved what he taught. Fair grader, do your homework, discussions and quizzes and you'll do great.
Super easy class. The lectures are really straight forward and help simplify the reading in the book. All the answers are literally in the book/ lectures, so it's practically impossible not to get an A.
Dr. Kim is one of my favorite professors at SCF. He strives to teach us to be more open-minded as to a broader scale of things and he gives us all the materials necessary for success. Really, as long as you do the work, you'll do well and get a lot out of his class, and he ensures this. He's also hilarious. Take him for a Humanities credit!
Clear grading criteria. Very informative. Every opportunity to succeed. (ya kinda gotta work harder to fail than pass). Extremely interesting material!
Overall an great teacher. Keep in mind he plays the roll of devils advocate more often than not during discussions, but people are free to make opinions and ask questions. I have learned a lot from this class and would reccomend to anyone remotely interested in philosophical discussions
Took an accelerated class for religion. Very easy but make sure you keep up with the assignments each week. 2 30ish questions from the reading, a group discussion, 2 lecture readings, and a easy test (Just keep the answers from the lecture they are copy paste on the test. Its a lot of work so don't fall behind. No final exam and lots of extra credi
Took World Religions with him and liked his teaching so much I followed that class with Intro to Phil. There is a lot of reading and homework but that makes it easier to get into the discussions. He allows his students to form their own opinions but guides in the creative thinking.
Class was easy, take notes and the tests are COPY and PASTE from the quizzes. The quizzes are unlimited attempts. I had an A the entire time, until his final paper. A 6-page paper that I started an entire week before and he gave an F on the paper. BE WARNED his final paper is no joke. Would never take this teacher again!!
Probably one of the most sarcastic teachers at SCF. Not a hard class but there are about 15-23 questions per every reading which are due every class. All test questions except the logic test are the quiz questions verbatim which he tells you is done on purpose. Can't get up to use the bathroom even for a 1.5 hour class. No final exam or papers.
Great lectures. Very involved. Homework is graded on compleation.
His lectures are very interesting, and hes hilarious. His classes are all pretty heavy on homework, but as long as you dont get behind or skip class, youll pass for sure. Id highly recommend him. Also, dont be late!
Great professor but strict. No bathroom breaks, no tardies, and you must come to class. There are tons of homework assignments but as long as you do them and make an effort, you get full credit. Tests are easy because all of the questions are verbatim from the quizzes. I would take a class from him again in a heartbeat. Not hard to pass.
I took him online for a six week course. It was a lot of material for six weeks, but I did the work, and got full credit for each assignment. He responds to emails quickly. Tests questions are taken straight from the lecture assignment quizzes.
Very easy class if you do the Homework. All the questions on the tests are from the homework. Does a very good job explaining material in class. Funny as well. If you don't keep up with homework it will be tough. 20 mins is the average HW length.
Talks very quietly for such a big room, makes a lot of jokes during his lectures. There is homework every class and he doesnt explain well. Hes very strict on tardiness.
Horrible find another professor. Trust me you will be glad you did!
Funny, precise grading, what you want out of a college professor.
He is a super nice guy and I got an A in the class. We had a project at the end of the course but he let us skip it if we had an A. Super easy class, take online if you can!
Taking his class right now so far its really easy, all you have to do is do the Guided Reading Questions which is basically read the textbook and answer the questions super easy! And take the lecture assignments (all in quizlet) same for the quizzes and do the discussion post like once a week. As long as you do your work you will be okay
This class was so easy! All you have to do is read answer questions, do a lecture assignment which you can do it multiple times and everything is on quizlet and then take a quiz which is also on quizlet. YOU DO NEED THE TEXTBOOK IN ORDER TO COMPLETE THE READING ASSIGNMENTS! Overall love this professor 100% recommended!
Dr. Kim is a great professor. It takes a few classes to get used to his humor, but he really knows the subjects he teaches. Attendance is mandatory as well as being on time. Tests are easy if you do your assignments. Lectures are very good, and you walk away knowing more than just what you need for the tests. I loved this class!
This professor is by far the easiest professor I have taken. The assignments are very easy and are the exact same as the tests. He makes it very easy to pass the class and very much cares about his students. You also really get out what you put in.
There are weekly quizzes and guided reading questions, but they aren't bad. Every test is copy and paste from the quizzes. So as long as you study the quizzes, you'll ace the tests. Teacher can be kind of rude in my opinion and sometimes responds to students questions in snarky tones but many think he's a good time.
The worst professor I have taken. Very rude to students, no interest in teaching, very strict on attendance and syllabus seems like prisoners have more freedom given we pay to take these classes and are adults. Does not help when asked questions, and belittles students who try to learn. Claims no disrespect is tolerated but that is all he gives.
