Professor Ian Kay is very caring and understanding. He understands that you have other classes so his work load isn't much and he also gives great feedback. There is no way you can fail this class and if you do fail this class you simply aren't trying there is no way you could fail. Overall a great professor!

Professor Kay is without a doubt my favorite Instructor. He recognizes that effective practice is always a part of the learning process. Now that I've always enjoyed writing, I think this is one of the best courses to enroll in. Don't be afraid to enroll in this course if you aren't a natural writer. The course is both enjoyable and challenging.

If you are looking for a professor that tries and cares for his students, you probably won't see many who do that as much as Professor Kay. As long as you try, you should get a high grade, but it will be a decent workload. He is very helpful with the creative thinking process of writing. Taking this course outside of summer is probably much easier.

Best English professor I have had! Only 1 big research paper (8-10 pages) for 1102 that he takes you step by step to understand how to write it. Super clear in explaining and responds to questions quickly. You need to put in the work but it's generally an easy A. Honestly having fun being able to write about whatever I like.

This is by the far the best English class I have ever taken. I completed the course online. The requirements were always very clear. We ALWAYS got to write about things we genuinely enjoy which made it so much more interesting. The workload is not bad and he isn't harsh on grading. You can tell he really cares about his students and teaching.

Professor Kay was the best Professor I could've had going into my first semester of college. He gives a manageable amount of assignments each week, makes concepts easier to understand, and gives good feedback. He wants to see everyone succeed and makes it very easy to do so.

It is very clear that Professor Kay loves what he does. This love is contagious. Even though writing isn't my strongest point, the way he handled the semester made me want to write. Weekly tasks vary widely. Some weeks we need to write more, others we write less. But in fact, there is a class where we need to write.

He absolutely loves what he does and he's great at it. This teacher helps you through every step of the way and is very understanding if you communicate with him. His love for his work is absolutely contagious and it makes you eager to learn. There are weekly tasks, some weeks require more work than others but nonetheless it is manageable.

This professor is very good except for the fact that his class is not the standard teaching style for ENC1101. He doesn't grade for grammar, more for the information you give. His topics are different and interesting. His personality is unique. He was a good teacher.

I loved being in this class and I am taking the ENC II with Professor Kay. The homework is 2 to 3 assignments per week. He gives great feedback. Prof. Kay is hands down my favorite teacher. I am a freshman in college & he made everything go smoothly. I was scared being fresh out of high school and then getting into college. Professor Kay was by far the best at online instruction of all the teachers I have ever had. He always provided great feedback and constructive criticism. The lessons were consistently great and focused mostly on building our writing skills as opposed to just assigning a ton of essays.

Take his class! Pretty much if you do the assignment (even if you're not good at writing) you get a 100. There are two major papers but he meets with you after writing each of them and gives feedback and those count as your final. He is super easy to talk to and is always willing to help if you ask. Professor Kay is the best teacher I have had at Valencia College. This is my fourth semester. He always answers all your questions in a short time, it is quite explicit with what he expects you to do in each task and he does not leave much work. Be prepared to read and write, but not an exaggerated amount. Above all, you will learn a lot. No exams.

Listen to me.. TAKE HIM! He is the most caring and funniest professor I've ever had (I am old enough to say that). There is no reason to fail his course unless you plan to board SpaceX & spend some time out of this world. Don't get me wrong, you still will have work to do, a lot of research and writing. But he makes it so easy understand & achieve.

His style of teaching is more broken down and comprehensible, I struggle with English because the way I learn things isn't the way most teachers teach but his style makes things less stressful and more understandable, wish I had more teachers this way!

This was probably one of the best Professors I've had. He's an easy grader an the instructions are very clear. Although he does oddly place these Town Hall Questions on Thursdays instead of the end of the week which could potentially have it slip your mind. I loved taking Freshman Comp with Professor Kay! He was an amazing teacher and really puts effort into his lessons and teaching. I don't think there was ever a time where I felt confused on assignment or felt like he didn't give good feedback. There is a lot of writing. Professor Kay is the most easygoing professor I have ever had, and I'm glad I took him! Prof. K sets up all the assignments for a major essay you have to write. Which was scary, but he is there every step of the way. It does take him a while to respond to emails, but he has other outlets to answer your questions. By far, the least stressful class.

Professor Kay has been a great professor that I had for Freshman Comp 1 & 2. I've learned a lot throughout his course how to become a better writer. Not only that but, Professor Kay made learning fun with his entertaining lectures along with Zoom calls that took place every Friday.

Every assignment was fairly easy to understand and complete, while still allowing me to learn something new. This class introduced me to my first proper research essay and most assignments leading up to the actual paper helped me understand the different parts of each essay. We only write one full essay the whole semester. He is amazing!

Easy class, just be prepared to do the assignments. Some assignments can be long but they're never hard. He accepts late work until the last day of the semester which is pretty good.

His class is very cool, you basically learn how to make one big giant (its not really that big) essay step by step and by the time you are done with all the assignments you basically already have the essay.

Each assignment is leading up to your final assignment, which is a research paper that is broken down into different sections for you. He accepts most late work as long as it is turned in before the semester ends.

I took Comp I with Professor Kay and he is hand down one of the best out there. His class is down to earth and the lessons are very useful for our day-to-day communication. Took Prof Kay a year ago and this is the best class I've taken so far. I was struggling at first, but then he helped me so much with clear explanations. He was also dedicated to his lecture by giving awesome examples. Moreover, he is a friendly man. The way he replied my DM and talked to me in Zoom meetings as if he was a best friend to me.

Great professor. Entire class is spent working on a research essay. However, the writing instruction/lectures do a lot of things to help you work towards it throughout the semester. There is flexibility on due dates, since the class is a cumulative effort. You spend 1/2 the time researching and a couple hours on a weekly assignment.

Prof. Kay is the nicest, funniest, most caring professor I have encountered. I took the online version. The entire course assignments are open from the beginning and you can go at your own pace. Don't take if you are looking for an easy english class where you don't have to do much of anything. I wasn't expecting how much work this course was. However, you don't get any points deducted for submitting assignments late and the professor is very very caring. If you are fine with lots of writing, definitely take this course. Professor Kay is a great teacher and is extremely helpful with work. He warns you in the beginning to be careful getting behind and not to procrastinate. I unfortunately did both, so avoid being like me. I've reached out to him several times, and he's been very helpful every time. He does have a lot of writing (10 page final essay), but worth it.

Professor Kay is amazing. I appreciated his late work policy (anything can be submitted up until a certain date towards the end of the semester) as it was the way I truly got through the course successfully. There were videos and text and felt like a very interactive course. The assignments were interesting and I felt prepared for the final paper.

Professor Kay's class was pretty good, there were some longer assignments for Comp 2 but they all fit into one another. He was a pretty easy grader and leaves a rubric on the bottom of each assignment which includes sentence or paragraph expectations, making it easy to see what is expected of you. Stay on top of the work and you'll be great.

Professor Kay is my favorite professor I have had at Valencia. I took both his Freshman Comp 1 and 2 class. It was defiantly worth it. Light grader and very straight forward lecture. Please please please take his class, you won't regret it!!!

If you're a procrastinator, this course might not be for you because you can turn in late work a week before the semester ends, which means you'll wait until the very end to complete an entire semester's worth of work in a short period of time. But if you need a little more time in the semester and know you can catch up and stay on track, take it.

I took this class online his assignments are straight forward. He includes short videos describing the project and they are funny. He's very lenient on make up work, but do not procrastinate.

There isn't anything to say about this professor that hasn't already been said. The modules are very organized with clear objectives for each week to build up to the big essay at the end of the semester. He helped me understand research and he is funny and relatable. He knows how to make an online class engaging which I never thought was possible.

Professor Ian is AWESOME! Ive taken many classes and for sure he is the best professor I will take in my life. Hes very clear with instructions, actually makes the work fun, allows you to turn in late work no penalty (but try to stay on top of it). Big assignment is a 10-20 page essay but you are working on it throughout the semester so dont worry.

FAV prof as of yet. His canvas is organized-- everything is taught&explained through writing and/or video. Very accepting & accessible. I never enjoyed English as much as I did with Mr. Kay. His essay process was the easiest I've ever done; all broken down in assignments throughout the semester- when it gets to the actual essay deadline its done!

Professor Ian Kay is such a joy to have as your teacher. He is genuinely invested in your success and wants to hear about what you have to say. The workload is really light, with only one or two assignments due every Sunday, and the assignments are a lot of fun! He's very down to earth and just wants you to succeed.

Professor Kay has been one of the best teachers I have had for this course especially since I have finally started into this school and he has given me a great experience. He allows students to engage in their work that they feel helps them best and allows late work until the end of the semester. The work wasn't as overwhelming either.

Took this professor for ENC 1101 online for the Summer B term. The course was very easy to complete and teaches you what you need to know. There are no late penalties and assignments are very easy to understand, there are even videos on each assignment where he explains the assignment. You can easily get a 100% in this class. I took Professor Kay for CRW 2710 not Intro to Film. There is generally 1 assignment each week. There is midterm and final exam, however they were both easy to complete. He accepts late work regardless of how long it has been until the last week. In order to complete each assignment you complete them in sequence or else it won't make sense.

Amazing Professor! I took him for CRW 2710, Intro to Script Writing. He was fantastic and really nice. The work was not hard at all, and he provided a great in-depth explanation of how to them. Only one assignment per week, and they were never hard. I would 100% take him again in the future.

Professor Kay is great! He makes the class fun and interesting. The hardest part of the course is figuring out what story you want to tell for your final, but if you have any questions, he's always free to help.

Also, his lecture videos were very easy to watch and learn from because he tried to make them as interesting as possible. If you prefer to read instead of listen, he included a transcript that goes over everything he said in the video.

Based on the assignments and lectures, you can tell Professor Kay is passionate at what he teaches by putting his personality into his writing/speech. Professor Kay also provides different ways to complete an assignment with clear and easy instructions. I'd recommend this script writing course to any of my friends who are interested in this field.

The lectures he gives out for the class are fun and educational. This video almost reminds me of a fiction analysis content creator. This teacher has a passion for what they teach and it's very contagious. If you enjoy learning about story structure, take this class.

I would take him for every class if possible.Theres about 1 assignment every week that take about 10mins to an hour.Your grade comes from how much work you turn in, late work is always accepted with no penality.He is always willing to talk to you about your assignments, how to move your research forward.

My first language is Spanish, and with Professor Ian, I learned a lot. Writing is easy as long as you are careful with the important things, and Professor Ian teaches you all of them. He is an excellent teacher.

Accepts late work! The assignments are basically discussions that are writing assignments. Some are lengthy but he provides tools to help you fill those gaps. The final is a research paper but with the way the coursework is set up you'll find it easy to complete. His methods helped me write papers for two other classes.

Taking his class was my favorite one out of all my professors. His class is pretty straight forward for comp 2, every class he goes around and ask how your doing with the work for that week and if you need any sort of help and he will talk with you and help you "brain storm" ideas for the assignments.

I do not plan on writing scripts in my life, but the lessons taught in this class gives me the essential tools to be a better writer in the future. Comp 1 was so much fun with Professor Kay. If you had a question, he was always happy to explain something until we understood. You get a good amount of homework 2-3 assignments a week each taking 30 minutes and 1 large research paper, mines was 12 pages. He was a very feed back orientated teacher and was very lenient on turning in late work.

Mr Kay has been one of the most laidback nice teachers I have ever had. The work is not too bad,1-2 assignments a week. Although attendance is mandatory, you will not miss much if you don't go bc the class is like a "workshop". This class is very easy. Every week most assignments are about one page long. At the end of the semester there was an 10-20 page paper. TAKE HIM! Only like 1-2 writing assignments a week and they are all very easy. Excepts all late work without penalty and very understanding.

This Professor is great. Not only is our assignments due Sunday of every week, the assignments are a cakewalk, and he literally goes up to you in class to give you some insight and help on whatever you are working on which is amazing. Not only that he gives great feedback. The only hard thing is trying to catch up on late assignments.

Had Mr. Kay for English Comp 1. He is an awesome guy and an easy professor. Takes all late work and checks in with students every week to see if there's anything he can help out with. Would take him again for other classes

He's a great professor! He usually gives 1–2 assignments a week, which are very manageable. His attendance policy is super fair, you just need to check in one of the two class days. You can tell he wants everyone to succeed, and he's always willing to answer questions you need it. He's kind, and genuinely cares about his students100% recommend him!

I had professor kay for freshman comp 1. I wouldn't say his work is hard, you just have to use your brain. He explains in depth how to do the assignments and he'll answer any questions you have. Overall super helpful and great professor I would take a class taught by him again.

I'd definitely recommend this course because the professor truly cares about his students and makes you feel seen and understood. He's super flexible with deadlines you can turn in any assignment late and can go to only one class a week if you need

Ian Kay is one of the best professors I've had. He made writing essays seem easy to me, and I learned way more about how I should write and how I can improve my writing. How he teaches and how he writes his assignments is a major help to all of this. The way he writes his assignments, along with a video, makes the assignment easier to understand.

Professor Ian is one of the best teachers I have ever had in my entire life. He is funny and caring. For my class, he accepts any late work before the semester ends and requires students to show up once a week. There will be one assignment per week with 3 two-pagers.

Ian Kay is my favorite professor. From day one he has been the most caring about his students. I would 100 percent take his class again, it is an amazing GPA boost. Just turn your work in on time. There is only one easy assignment per week. I would recommend this class to anyone that needs to take freshman comp.

Mr. Kay is the best English teacher; he is so caring and understanding with every student. He takes the time to come see you every class to ask how you're doing! The assignments are well-instructed, and I'm never confused about any of them. Late work is accepted; he just wants you to do the assignment! I am taking him next semester for ENC 1102!

He had a good sense of humor, which made the lectures way more enjoyable.He was also super understanding and didn't stress us out about missing assignments, even if they were turned in late

I do not regret taking this Professor Kay at all. He was a real treat to have in class and I will be taking him again next year for eng comp 2 The class was really easy and not tough at all to keep up with and even if you fall behind a bit don't stress to much because you can still turn your work in :)

He's super sweet and a fun person to be around! The classroom enviroment is made to be a place where you feel comfortable to give your opinions, which is amazing. The class was very educational with how to start a screenplay. Definitely would take this professor again!!

Mr. Kay was an amazing teacher, always ready to teach, very sweet, caring, and attentive. Clear communication, understanding, and open to talk. Class was a lot of writing, but Mr. Kay chose good topics that were even fun to write about. Overall, amazing class would take it again with Mr. Kay.

He reminds me of Phil Dunphy from Modern Family, but he's very kind and will help if you need it. A lot of writing, but he makes sure to check up on you and ensures you're caught up. There's only one late work deadline, and he's extremely chill. Honestly, one of the better professors I've had.

He really is the best. It's only like one assignment (usually not a very big one) a week, and he has an open late work policy so you can turn things in on your own time for full credit. He also only requires you to show up once a week for your attendance grade(11%).

Truly one of the best teachers I've ever had. If you get the chance to take one of his classes absolutely do so, his ratings are no fluke. He genuinely wants you to learn AND have a good time doing so. You would literally have to put in no effort to fail his class.

I prepared myself for the utter worst honestly, not because of any bad reviews but because this was my first creative writing class in college and had no expectations. Happy to say, I had an amazing time in the class. Good lectures, structured class, great and safe atmosphere created, all by a professor who you can tell has a passion.

Professor Kay's Comp I class is single-handedly one of the easiest English courses I've ever taken. He's amazing at explaining concepts about essay writing in a way that's easy to understand. The assignments are always very engaging and allow you to write about your own interests. Attendance is also only mandatory once per week!

He's very understanding if u need help don't be afraid to ask because he'll take the time to break down the material for you to understand it in your own way also he allows you to submit work late and still get full credit.

Professor Kay was a very personable, witty and insightful instructor, and I can't recommend him enough! Class featured an open discussion in which he genuinely cared about student opinion. Always open to feedback, and gives great feedback as well. Simple and enjoyable assignments centered around reviewing and/or creating film.
