He was very difficult to an unnecessary point. He would tell you specifically what to study and then test you on something totally different! He was never helpful when asking questions and never reviewed tests to know what you got wrong.
Great down to earth type of guy! I defenitly recommend him to all my freinds! And i would love to take him again for A&P II... His simply the best out there, very laid back.. He was a doctors so he explains his material very well
Hes pretty good, I would recomend him, his tests were easy and gives thorough notes, better than the others I'd say
hes a really great teacher you do journals after each chapter and he gives you questions to study for the midterm and final
i took him for AP1 and he was good. he knows his stuff. the hard part was turning in total of 32 pages from the chapters we did. other than that he did a great job of teaching. i wonder how he is for Micro?
This guy doesn't believe in power point. You basically spend all class writing notes as fast as you can while he rambles on. Tests are easy, but the journals due before the midterm and final are a pain - 1 1/2 pages single spaced for each chapter (about 8 each time). They suck. Just don't leave them to the last minute or you will be hating life
he's alright as far as i'm concerned. his weakness is not going over the lab procedures and expecting students to know what to do. overal his quizes and exams are quite easy if you study.
His class is hard. His quizzes often times seem irrelevant to what was studied. They are 5 questions from a TON of material and it is impossible to know what to study for. I would recommend putting a lot of effort into his journal, it is probably what will save your grade in the end.
Dr. Kaye is really good! he's an MD and really knows his stuff..very smart guy..the thing I liked most about him was that he is fair about grading, for instance, most teachers base your grades on the tests and don't hand out work to help your grade, he gives two journals,(papers summarizing chapters) so if you are failing and you get an A or B on t
I agree, Dr. Kaye is really good, he makes it fair to the students that don't do well on tests..he makes sure that you pass by giving you 2 journals in lecture, so if you're failing you can pass just by doing good on both papers! and in lab he gives you a packet that if you complete its worth 100%..so its a win-win situation for you..take him!
I took Kaye for micro and anatomy 1 lab. I definitely studied for his daily quizzes, but they were always fair and I was always glad afterwards because I learned the material well. Daily quizzes means that by the time the final comes, you already know everything and dont have to cram. A good prof.
A decent class if you do not test well because you journal a lot, but these journals are very time consuming! He puts questions on tests and exams of material that is not covered in class, or even in the text provided - No way to study except with outside materials. Consitent work will earn you a B. An A is very elusive because of "trickiness".
Take him! I have never learned sooo much interesting stuff and things. Yeah, the Journels are a headache but I learned a lot. Gets my vote.
Makes things much more difficult than they need to be. If you take him, be prepared to spend WAY more time than expected.
The positive reviews are fake - dont fall for it.
Love this guy. Best rated for AP
I really enjoyed professor Kaye's class. It's not too easy or too difficult. His lectures are very enjoyable and you can tell he really wants his students to learn the material. He is strict with attendance and being on time. IMO, as long as you attend, read the chapter, and do your journals you should do well.
Has 2 journals and 2 exams. Attend the review sessions for exams or else you'll be lost! I thought he was a great teacher and very entertaining. I hope he teaches A&P 2!
He is entertaining in his lectures and is very knowledgeable! You definitely want to be there for the exam review. The journals are a lot of work but really help you to learn. Overall, a great teacher!
I just took his lab class, and it was pretty hard, but as long as you go to class, he helps you out. This is my 2nd class with him, and he's awesome! He's really smart too. Take him!
Honestly one of the best professors I've ever had. Dr. Kaye is actually quite funny and gives examples that really help you learn the material. The journals take a long time, but if you get started on them early enough you should be fine; they actually really help you learn the matrial. His exams are not tricky and all mc. I'd HIGHLY reccommend!
Waste of Money
I had Prof. Kaye for A&P and lab, he covers a TON in one class a week, I would suggest a two-day-a-week class to spread it out. Read his instructions CAREFULLY and COMPLETELY and ASK questions! Don't be late to his classes, and he will lock the door during testing. Gives good notes and is a fair professor, though he's not easy.
This Professor is incredible. If you want to learn everything about anatomy & physiology, this is the class for you!!!! He is very helpful and funnt to booot.
Professor Kaye, Is extremely hard and fair professor. Do your work and show up to his class and you will pass. Very big on attendence.
I don't know why people are complaining about this professor. He was by far the best professor I have had at PBSC. He goes over all material and if he have a question he answers it. Ian Kaye is a GREAT professor. I am taking him for anatomy 2 and microbiology.
I took him for anatomy lecture twice and he requires these journals that are very time consuming. The midterm and final arent super hard but you definatly need to copy the reviews down to pass. Hes fair but really hard and time consuming over all
Very knowledgeable Professor I definitely learned a lot in his class. Have to study for tests and final. I also took him for lab and got a B also will help if you ask him.
HE WAS OK BUT YOU HAVE TO SHOW UP TO CLASS, BIG ON ATTENDANCE, WE HAVE 2 JOURNALS FOR THE CLASS ONE MIDTERM AND A FINAL. IF YOU SHOW UP, DO THE JOURNAL, AND STUDY YOU WILL PASS.
You have to do this "journal" that is SO time consuming. You do a ch. a week & after each chapter u have to do a 2 page single spaced report. TAKES SO LONG. it is 50% of ur grade. You do 2 of them. THEN, you have a midterm and a final....very hard- but he gives u a study guide. Not much time to study tho! ..ha..i wouldnt take him again NO WAY.
mcb 2010L, I am not please with the way Prof. Kaye teaches his micro class. Gives quizzes within the beginning of each class but doesn't explain the material being learned. I felt he was very indifferent about the students performance in his class. Micro lec. ONLINE with prof. Allen is easier than his lab.
He is to me the best A&p teacher for palm beach state (passable teacher). The rest are nightmares!! Trust me he is not at all a walk in the park either. He is mad tough on his class but in the end you will pass because of his methods journals! I hated yet loved his class! Take him!
Dr. Kaye is an "ok" professor. He seems to not care about the subject matter translating into poor teaching and little help. If you do what he tells you and study alot you will be fine. YOU MUST BE A GOOD DRAWER FOR HIS CLASS AS HE MAKES YOU DRAW ALL THE BONES, BODY ANATOMY AND MUSCLES.
Very knowledged person. Helpful when you ask questions.
He was a savior, if it wasnt for him i would've never passed this lab. take notes evry time he is explaining a subject, he will give u the answer to a lot if not all journal questions, u just gotta pay attention. turn in the completed lab journal that will help u pass the class even if u failed the tests and quizes.
LOVE prof Kaye! the journals were a pain but they really helped with studying for the mid-term and final...those were the only tests that were taken the whole semester. If you use your book and class notes, the journals will be no problem. Really, really nice guy! promptly returns emails and answers any questions you have.
Had Prof Kay for BSC2085 Lecture, Excellent Professor, at first I thought those journals were a pain but it really helped me study for mid-term and the finals. He made the class fun and I really learned a lot from him. I definetely recommend Prof Kay, Excellent Excellent!!!! Thank you Professor.
He covers pretty little in his lecture compared to the materials in the exams. Therefore, you guys need to self-teach a lot. Use your time to write journal as going over the materials. Overall, I think he is a fine teacher (except the fact that he did not cover much stuff in the lecture).
I totally agree with the previous one's comment. He covers very little, so I though in the exam, that there were a lot of new materials that I haven't heard of. A lot of self-teaching is important. Put your time more than u think.
THIS CLASS ISNT THE EASIEST... I ACED THE QUIZZES, MIDTERM AND OTHER LITTLE ASSIGNMENTS AND FAILED THE FINAL AND STILL CAME OUT WITH A "B"!!! HE ISNT THE BEST NOR THE WORST LAB PROFESSOR BUT HE IS TOUGH AND THIS CLASS IS VERY TIME CONSUMING THE MIDTERM WAS 2 EASY SO THEY MADE THE FINAL 5X HARDER AND MANY DID POOR BUT YOU MUST PUT IN the TIME !!!
**DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE TO COMPLETE THE JOURNAL ASSIGNMENTS!! Please, please, please heed our warnings about this. Depending on the chapter, each journal can take anywhere between 20 minutes to 3 hours to complete. Do not let your laziness overcome you.
This class is not super hard but you definitely have to put in the effort. There's a quiz every week about the chapter that was covered in the previous lab. I always studied for the quizzes and got 100% almost every time. If you show that you care about the class and put in the effort You will be fine but it requires some work every week.
This class is as hard as you make it. If you put the time in and actually study, you will definitely pass. Don't wait to do the journals until the last minute, because each chapter is extremely time consuming. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask Prof Kaye. He's somewhat intimidating, but he will help you with whatever questions you have
This teacher is not very approachable, very difficult to keep up with if you want to take notes in class because he goes over EVERY DETAIL very quickly. Then the exams cover material that was not included in the lecture. I asked for an opportunity for extra credit and he said no until someone else requested it as well, then he offered it. No good.
Professor Kaye is a very difficult teacher. Requires "journals" to be written for his class. He will tell you your notes should be more than enough to write the journal with, but if you actually write the journal with your notes, he will give you a poor grade. Not easily approachable either. Nice guy, but DO NOT EXPECT AN EASY A GRADE!!!!
Professor Kaye is awesome, his two journals and his quizzes will help you to pass the class.
Prof Kaye is amazing. i have taken 3 classes with him and i will continue to do so. expect 2 journal assignment make sure you do well that counts with most or your grade. A midterm and Final. he will give out extra credit if needed. He works with student.I love this professor.
Inspiring and fantastic. Take him..
Gives out information to study for exam and introduces questions that have nothing to do with the suggested information to study. Very impersonal and rude to students, boring, and does not work with students. Personally, I had a horrible impression and felt insulted multiple times.
One of the better professors in my experieince. Hes a teacher and inspiration and guide allin one. A lot of my class said the same. Recommended
I got back what I gave and more
One of the better teachers. He gives real interesting and informative lessons.
I had a really hard semester and thanks to this Professor I was encouraged to continue. I think Im going to pass. Thanks Professor
He is really sarcastic, he explain but very briefly. Its weird because he is helpful sometimes but sometimes he doesnt want to help you at all. Study each week for the quiz, thats going to help you with the midterm and final. Its better to pace yourself studying weekly rather than all of that information at once.
I enjoyed this professors teaching so much that I can say I really connected -got my A
Very difficult Professor at times. In the beginning hes tough but as class goes on for a few weeks, hes actually a lot easier than youd think.
It took me a few weeks to realize this is a serious class with a serious professor. Then it all seemed to work. Great man.
At first this class is very tough but with time you get used to the pop-quizzes each week and they become easier as well. Definitely study a lot for the midterm and final they aren't hard but will save your grade due to the pop quizzes.
Took MCB2010L in 6 weeks and this professor did NOT make it easy. He was the type of professor that didn't give you the point on a quiz even if you were right, his excuse was "humans make mistakes." Micro in six weeks was hard and all but I just feel like if I took it with someone else, I would have got an A. Don't waste your time and money.
I also took the 6 week course and didnt p...: off the professor He was interested and genuinely wanted a good class and taught in detail.
Midterms are ok.
6 week course made easy.
1)he's very helpful sometimes but other times no. So beware 2) class seems hard at first but i promise you ITS NOT THAT hard, you just gotta study 3) study the notes WEEKLY, it'll make midterm/final easier 4) if you know how to teach yourself material and if you have discipline to study, this is the class for you. if not,..... DO NOT TAKE IT!
He was always on our side and helping especially when we went online
Started in a class with like 25 students, after midterms about 8 were left. Withdrew the course myself because I couldnt understand how I was failing and studying my best, also got an A+ in lecture.. Take another professor is my opinion, just re-took the lab with another professor and got an A. He seems uninterested in the success of his students
Amazing professor. I like the way he teaches and explains material, his grading criteria are two tests and journals. Always do your journals, it takes a lot of time sometimes, but really useful. And also, he was exceptionally helpful during Covid online studying, and he did an outstanding job providing online lectures.
Professor Kaye is a really good professor, i wouldnt recommend taking him online because he is not much tech-savvy though he tried really hard to help us out with the lectures and notes. But for me, the class got quite difficult after going online. He helped us out with the grades in the end too because of the circumstances.
Doesnt Teach or explain anything get ready to teach yourself through COVID. Tough grader
Literally doesnt teach you a thing ! Everything is self taught and very confusing , you have to watch so many videos which will take way longer then the actual class. DO NOT TAKE HIM !!
Worst professor at PBS. He doesnt teach a thing. He has meetings once a month. Hes rude and careless. Assignments are hard, exams are unthinkable. I REPEAT DONT TAKE THIS MAN.
I read the usual losers boring trash talk so takeit with a big dose of garlic. He is a fine Profesdor who wont give in to handouts and entitlement. He helped methroughsome serious issues and i just feel this site does nit do this professor justice. Take him.
Tough no nonsense professor but very helpful in fixing my study techniques. Microbio lab is a hard course unless you know stuff, so I never ask for handouts but worked hard as he suggested and it worked. Great teacher. You need a textbook and a lot of time and there are frequent quizes and two exams, so a lot.
This was an online Covid class and I do not do well online. Very encouraging professor was kind and guiding when it was going bad
Dont fool around. Serious but funny professor. Do the homework.
15 mintues lectures and tells you to watch experiments from Youtube. What he want is very unclear, collection of homeworks throughout the semester, no precheck or resubmissions. Test and quizzes are unclear. Nothing like what he covered in class or online experiments. I took bio in hs and college. I worked like for a 3 credits class, and failed.
Probably take this class as a online class is not a good idea. About 20 min. meeting every week I think is not enough. I wrote him about my grade and how to improve it. He advised some tutoring and team work. I just withdraw the class.
This is one of those classes where you can either skid or fly. I liked the online notes which really were a saving grace. Always responsive.
Online classes are not my best. I was saved by the course notes and pure determination to pass. Couldnt believe I got an A.
Lots of meetings, some reviews uses his notes
Just attend
Teacher is very unclear. No feed back Mid term, Final exam, and lab assignment are your only grade. All labs are turned in at the end of the semester with no feed back. If your looking for a professor that will not challenge you and have you questioning your grade all semester take this class!
Avoid taking this professor! Does not teach at all, expects us to know everything, and makes us sound dumb when we ask him a simple question. Never helped for any of the labs or homework. Midterm and final are graded heavy and waits to grade everything last minute. I don't even know how he has any good ratings.
DO NOT TAKE HIM! Believes his class is your only class & will drown you in work giving little to no feedback when you ask for help
honestly, read the reviews. I wouldnt recommend taking professor Kaye unless its your last option. hes test heavy and the exams are difficult. the final didnt even cover the material that we reviewed for our course.
Dr. Ian Kaye is a wonderful professor. He is very responsive in reply your questions. He is willing to help you and you need to pay the same effort. Education is for your benefits. I wish other students do great in his class like I did.
just pay attention in class and you'll do fine.
DO NOT TAKE IAN KAYE. He failed me the semester of my graduation, he gave zeros to students who did not deserve it when his syllabus did not match his canvas. Beware of this Professor, he does not care about his students, Even those who are on the ball with assignments.
The only he he gave for the assignments was 2 summaries for each chp. I got a F on the last one. i emailed him about it and he never responded. i was confused cause i follow directions like last time. Its not fair. I was confused on the exam cause most of the question isn't what we went over. Like what? All he told us is to review the book.
