BY FAR THE WORST TEACHER I EVER HAD IN MY LIFE!!!! HE IS HORRABLE. TAKING HIS CLASS WILL BE THE BIGGEST MISTAKE OF YOUR LIFE. HE IS DUMB, UNCLEAR AND CANNOT TEACH. ALSO HE IS A HORRABLE GRADER AND EXTREMELY BORING AND STUPID IN HIS COMMENTS.
HE SUCKS
Terrible teacher, one of the worst I have ever had!
I don't know what's wrong with you people. Did you even try to read or did you just expect to be spoonfed? Finite math is nothing compared to linear algebra 2, and he was excellent in that class. He was both clear and challenging.
He is terrible, fire him!!
Absolutely terrible... he is unwilling to help students. No amount of money could convince me to take a class with him again!
the worst teacher i have ever had. arrogant, pompous, avoid at all costs
He is very organized so you know where the class is going, notes are very clear and extremely helpful if you take them. I would definitely recommend him.
world's worst teacher. no joke, he is awful and goes out of his way to make your existence miserbale. his class is horrable, i wouldnt take him for a million bucks.

absolutely terrible - moves way too fast, oblivious to his students. had to drop his class after he made me take the midterm (i finished it in 2 minutes and handed in a blank paper!) AVOID HIM.
THE WORST TEACHER ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH. HIS CLASS IS TORTURE,YOUR IS SURE TO FAIL IT IF YOU TAKE IT WITH HIM.

needs a lot of work
fire this jerk
dvisable to see him for extra help, its better to go to the Math room. (unless you want to feel belittled and intimidated). Weekly assignments and a few tests, relatively easy for those competent in math. If nothing else, he's very attractive
Hes nice but he moves too fast and doesnt review over the problems as he should. He knows what hes doing but doesnt know how to teach it. First midterm was kind of easy, not looking foward to second one though.
WORST CLASS EVER!!! This man is the devil... he hates people and should be fired ASAP
He speeds through everything and seems unaware that there are students trying to learn. He seems to assume that we are all as smart as he is. Do not ever go for extra help, he makes you feel like an idiot!!! Not a nice man, Do not take class.
By far the worst professor I have ever had at Fordham and elsewhere. Public and private humiliation and a 12% on the final..save yourself, take computer science.

Weekly take home quizes are easy, and he posts exact replicas of the midterms on blackboard. However, he is the most belittling, intimidating man I have ever met. He is far from friendly, and if you go in for help, bring tissues, cause you'll cry.
morrison is the anti-christ. Worst teacher in the history of man. He couldnt teach if his life depanded on it.
He is smart, but does not know how to deal properly with people. Doesn't get to know students or help them, he belittles them. Quote:"You need a reasonable amount of intelligence to answer this, so anyone who needs extra credit, won't be able to answ
This class isn't too bad. The man hands you the midterm and final on a silver platter. Weekly quizzes are easy. Just come to class and try not to fall asleep. He knows what he's talking about, but really..how excited can you get about compound interest
Incredibly boring. Clearly loves math, but isn't a very good teacher. Shows you everything you don't need to know and not enough of what you do. Text is horrid! Doesn't take attendance.
actually you cant get excited over anything in this class except maybe staying as far away as possible. he is awful, cannot teach. and almost everyone who takes him drops or fails. your choice.
The most boring class, he makes everything far more complicated than necessary and teaches half the semester using a book he wrote. Same stuff is in the other book and it makes more sense. It requires work, but not terrible if you've taken stats before.
Morrison is out of control! He loves math, but only HE loves HIS type of math. We bought a very expensive textbook (110$) for only two chapters, and printed out HIS "Math for Life" textbook from a .pdf file online (88 pages). He enjoys belittlin

The math isn't that hard, but he explains it horribly. Goes too far in depth with things we don't need to know. Text book is useless, mostly uses online source. And if he said 'again' again i was gonna stab him. Sooo Canadian.
i would drop out of college before i had to have this man as a professor again
he brings the material to a higher level. his tests arent extremely bad and he gives you a curve. hes condescending towards students, but really not a bad guy. take him for a challenge.
WORST TEACHER EVER!!! HE SUCKS. DESERVES TO BE FIRED ASAP
Stephen Hawking dropped the course.
Morrison does not explain the material clearly. Everything is taught in the hardest and most complex way, and he gives the class quizes on material not yet covered. If you take this class you pretty much have to teach yourself. Spare yourself the trouble, take another class!
morrison will destroy your gpa. Einstein couldnt understand the**** that comes out of her lectures. Makes no sense at all. example of why tenure is a very bad idea.
I don't even know where to start. Worst class ever. Worst teacher ever. REQUIRED for all math majors. First day it was a full house but after a week there were three idiots who couldn't figure out how to get around the requirement... I was one of them. I almost jumped out of my dorm room window.
hard class but i suck at math anyway. hes a good guy, seems like he doesnt care but he actually does. nto my first choice but not awful either. doesnt take attendence, dont buy the book and your set.
Loved the course, good prof. too. pity more didn't share the mans love for math. TAKE THIS COURSE, its good!
I went in for help during his office hours and he almost made me cry. He doesn't know anyones name, he doesn't take attendance, he doesn't really care if you do the work. PLEASE do not make the mistake I did in taking his class. It is by far the worst class ever and he is the worst teacher ever!
the dumb*ss that gave morrisson all 5's and shared his 'love' for math, was probably morrisson giving himself a review so he can make people suffer. put it to you this way, i took his class last year, and STILL feel compelled to give him a bad review. stay FAR FAR away!!!!!
He def. loves math, but he just doesnt get that no one else does. If you wanna pass the quizzes so math help, or just teach yourself because hes really bad in explaining the material. I tooks this class the year before in high school, and i understood it. Now in finite, im compleletly lost.
if you look at him at a certain angle in a certain light he sometimes slightly resembles sean connery... i think i might be the only one to see this, but hey, i guess i'm weird like that
Every day after class I had to go get a huge coffee to wake myself up. Not only does he digress from math for twenty minutes at a time, but he thinks everyone enjoys his jokes. He made me dread mondays and thursdays.. do NOT take him !!!!
I had him as a freshman 3 years ago and still have nightmares about it.. DO NOT TAKE HIM
doesn't give a lot of work, but you have to teach yourself. If you can teach yourself from his notes you'll be fine, if not you will be lost
Yeah basically you have to teach yourself. If you are not a math person, DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. When you go to see him during office hours he basically tells you that you are dumb. He rambles on during class and you want to stab yourself with your pencil. don't take him
Dr. Morrison is quite helpful, easy to approach outside of class, and assigns a relatively light workload. However, his lectures often include long digressions, and he can sometimes be difficult to understand. He grades very fairly, though, and appears quite dedicated to his teaching.
He teaches way too fast and stands right in front of what he is writing so it is nearly impossible to follow him. Seems to be somewhat nice person but definetely needs to slow down and explain things more clearly.
Condescending, rude, not helpful outside or inside the classroom, has TWO midterms, the second of which appears to be approachable, but when you actually take the test it contains impossible and completely off-the-wall questions. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. He does not know how to teach. If you like paying tution to teach yourself, go right ahead.
You must teach yourself everything; I have to study out of my highschool notebook. If I hadn't already learned what he was teaching, I'd be completely lost. Recitation is imperative to get it. He does not explain anything. However, he does run into things occasionally which makes the class humouous. If you have to take calculus, find someone else.
He is a great professor, yes I'll admit I taught myself a lot of material but he gives you a take home quiz every week all you have to do is go to the math help center and they make sure every one of your answers is correct. He was always VERY nice to me, he just doesn't like slackers. So, if you're hard working this class should be a breeze.
Terrible teacher.. I did advanced calc my senior year 90 for the year and I couldnt understand this simple subject turned impossible by this guy..DONT TAKE HIM ..
Rambles; is very unclear. Weekly homework assignments end up being more difficult than they should be because his teaching style is so scattered. Textbook will not help as he invents his own style that does not work with the book. Not a professor for someone who has difficulty with math. Is unhelpful and lacks compassion and enthusiasm in and o
Even thoughI had to self teach much of the material in the end he was an excellent professor. I realized that I HAD to read the chapter and do the problems before class. His teaching style forced me to be a better student and helped me learn and love calculus. I think he's great.
First I thought he was a horrible professor. I soon realized he just expected the students to come to class having tried to understand the material before hand. And if that didn't work he was willing to help out.Going to his class not having read the material is what made him a poor professor, which was my fault. I learned more and better his way.
Very qualified and knowledgeable, and adequately accessible for help outside of the classroom. Expects much of students, but is still very fair.
He makes learning easy math really difficult. I knew most everything he was teaching, and I still got confused. Be prepared to teach yourself. The times I've been to office hours with him, he basically ripped me apart and was extremely disrespectful. Take another math class. If you choose to stick with him, buy the finite textbook from the store.
I was a straight A student in highschool. I received 2 A's and 2 B's on my midsemester grades. I received my ONLY C from none other then Ian Morrison. If you ask a question, he makes you feel like an idiot. If you try to read ahead of time or do the problems he gives you it just confuses you more. I had to teach myself everything.
This is possibly the hardest class I ever took. Every time I went to class I died a little on the inside.
avoid ian morrison at all costs. this man is the most pompous, unhelpful professor at fordham. he makes you feel stupid for asking questions, and just expects you to understand his absurd concepts. i had an A average in math in highschool, and i'll be lucky to pass this course. ian morrison is the spawn of satan.
I had him for finiate and he was absolutely horrid. I would go to his office hours and he was hardly ever there or completely rude whenever I asked a question. DO NOT TAKE unless you want to be miserable all semester. I recieved a B in his class by some miracle
It's understandable thay he has such low ratings. He's smart to death and too smart as a professor. I hated him in the first half of the semester that he made me an idiot. But it turns out that I love him. You can't imagine what's in this man's brain. English adjectives can't be used to describe him! Take him if you like math!!!
I urge anyone with a choice to bypass taking Prof. Morrison's calculus class. He is nearly incomprehensible, and has led me to very nearly resent a subject I adored in high school. I never thought I would have a teacher that would actually do more harm than help, but I feel confident in saying that I would do better in this class by skipping it!
You will have no idea what is going on in his class. Avoid if possible.
This is the worst class at Fordham. I got an A in calculus in high school and taking his calculus as a freshman I had to withdraw because it was so hard. Everyone I know in that class either struggles or withdraws. If you literally have any other option I would take it because unless you are a super genius, you will not do well in this class.
This man should be avoided at all costs. He will ruin your GPA and life and you will regret not dropping the class.
Possibly one of the worst professors ever. Honestly, I have no clue what goes on in recitation (thank God I don't have him for regular class) and that's probably because I am ready to fall asleep from how boring he is.. And what I do pay attention to makes absolutely zero sense. No one even shows up anymore. Do not take him if you can avoid it.
You should probably not even bother applying to Fordham simply because there is a chance that you can have Morrison as a professor.
Prof Morrison isn't a terrible teacher. He really wants his students to succeed so he gives them a lot of options to bring up their grades. The homeworks are hard but as long as you do them, you'll be fine. You won't fail as long as you do all the homework and study for the midterms and final. He also tells you exactly what he is putting on tests.
I had Morrison for Math for Business: Finite and he's not as awful as these ratings. His problem sets are extremely beneficial and will help you ace his exams. His lectures aren't the best but stop by his office hours and you'll be fine. His class consist of two midterms and a final project.
He fails to explain anything clearly and his midterm was nothing like the practice exam. Nearly half the class failed his midterm, according to him. His scale is 96-100 = A-. DO NOT TAKE HIM! I had to drop out to save my GPA.
Quote "if you know it [calc material] by December, I don't care if you didn't know it in October". He said this in class. If you do much better on the final, he makes it worth 60% of your grade. Also, he got us refunds for webassign for its glitches and gave extra credit to whoever still did the online homework. He cares about his students.
Wasn't doing so well in the class the beginning of the semester but I started paying more attention, taking more notes and went to office hours. He noticed that I put more effort into the class and it paid off. I jumped from a D to an A from the first to the second midterm and I ended the class with a good grade
Despite his reviews I would really recommend taking him for calc I. He is an extremely fair grader when it comes to exams which aren't hard at all. As long as you do the homework and understand it and actually read the textbook (it's essential because he doesn't cover topics in too much depth in class) then the exams are easy and you'll get an A.
Run as fast as you can towards the exit. WORST professor ever!
While a fairly nice man with a love for math, his methods of helping prepare students for his overly difficult exams are very poor. All other sections of Statstics are open note short exams, but his require hours of studying just to get a solid B on an exam. Avoid his class if possible.
He does not take the time to get to know his students, and he does not really care if you show up to class or not. His classes are awkward and feel like they last forever. He gives two midterms and a final, and weekly take home quizzes, which are actually hard. However, he allows you to use an index card with notes on it for tests which is helpful.
I don't understand all this hate. Im not a math guru by any means, and I found his class pretty basic. He posts review tests with answers before the exams that are very similar to the actual tests. You also get a note card to write whatever u want on and bring into the test. Very helpful at office hours. If you really want an A you can get it
Dr. Morrison is super nice, and I cannot understand why so many people hate him. This course is super easy, and if you want to get good grades, just prepare for the practice exam he gave you before class.
The beginning and end of the semester are much easier to follow than the middle of the material. He doesn't do enough example problems, often it was just more of an explanation of how to go things, which was no use when I had to do it on my own so I taught myself. Some online homework is very difficult and involves things not covered well in class.
This guy ruined my gpa. I've loved math my entire life and I took calc in highschool and did well. But unless you're like actually amazing at calculus, save yourself the pains of this class and choose anyone but him. 2 assignments due each week, each one takes at like 2-3 hours to do. its horrible. exams are impossible. stay away. very boring too.
Prof M was pretty clear about what he wanted in his exams; 2 midterms and a final. His exams are pretty straightforward and weekly quizzes are a recap of things done during the week, usually only two questions. He tries to makes things clearer and easier for us to understand
Despite being a bit hard to understand sometimes, Morrison genuinely wants you to do well and is a smart dude. The class is pretty test/quiz heavy but you'll do fine as long as you go to office hours (which is easy since he makes them mandatory anyways). Biggest tip is to not fall behind it'll be hard to catch up bc the class is really fast-paced.
I took Professor Morrison's Linear Algebra class as a freshman and loved him. Super tough class, but I felt like he really prepared me well for college level math. I could not recommend him enough if you're serious about math.
Dr. Morrison is very smart and knows the field extremely well. Despite this, his ability in teaching can be quite harsh. There were mandatory weekly meetings where he would assess your semester-long paper. These were brutal: he gave contradictory advice and berated me despite my constant effort in this paper. Very challenging person to deal with.
Do not take Calc 1 unless you have taken a calculus class prior to entering Dr. Morrisons calc. He is very fast paced along with not explaining problems clearly. If you ask a question prepare to get interrupted while not getting the answer you were looking for. He makes the simple complicated, you do NOT need a teacher like this, especially calc
Professor Morrison was a very kind teacher. I found it very difficult to understand the material when he explained it. He assumes you know things ahead of time. Roughly 80 homework problems a week. I learned this stuff in high school and got a worse grade in his class due to the difficulty of his lectures, exams, and homework.
Spends the entire lecture covering theory which only counts as 10% of the exams. The other 90% you have to learn from the textbook, which is not thorough enough to pass the exams (Use Org Chem Tutor on YT). Office hours are helpful only because he eventually gives you the answers. Otherwise, he makes you feel stupid. About 100 HW Qs a week.
DO NOT TAKE!! You must have a background in Calc I in order to take him b/c he won't teach any calc and instead will teach theory. I would rather take someone else and save my sanity. I learned more from YouTube than in class. 2 weekly homework assignments: 100 q's online, and 1 page paper (front & back) both of which will take hours to complete.
Patrick star who lives under a rock can do a better job teaching calc. Do not waste your money a prof like Ian.
The Class is graded by a Midterm worth 15%, final worth 35%, and some weekly quizzes and homework. Dr. Morrison made the class way harder than it had to be. Get ready to put in full effort to get an A in this class because it is anything but easy. I would recommend taking a different professor if you can because it was a struggle for everyone!
I wonder how Fordham still pays Dr.Morrison to teach, feels like he should pay Fordham to teach him how to teach. He's inconsiderate and will make u feel stupid for asking questions. He is unorganized and will teach calc assuming you know a foundational level of it. he sent 2 students in my class back 2 precalc bc they didn't "understand" the lect.
Had a family emergency, got my excused absence request approved and he still refused to give me extensions on ANY of the work. His lectures are disorganized and you will end up teaching yourself the entire course from the textbook- which he claims is required to buy in paper yet you will never use it in class.
Literally made me hate math. I took calc in hs and got a 99, however, he made it confusing and hard to understand. HOF yapper who likes to hear himself talk. Take a different professor if you can, if not good luck.
Dont go to this class, unless you want to teach yourself how to do Calc.
spends lecture talking about unrelated topics and leaves you to figure out how to do everything on your own. 2 hw assignments a week that take hours to complete. when he does explain things he does a bad job and makes things seem a lot more complicated than they actually are.
Don't take his class. Most of the time his assignments take an extremely long time to complete and they don't even align to the assignments he gives out in class either. His online homework is around 50+ questions long, and he never answers emails. His lectures never go over the correct chapter and section, he just teaches whatever he feels.
This guy is the worst. Incoherent lectures, hours of hw every week, and unclear instructions on tests. PLEASE do not take this class you will regret it.
dont take this class, its a ton of work and the lectures suck. plus this guy has gotta be at least like 80, and he can barely keep it together during lecture. he's always spacing out, getting distracted, and forgetting what hes talking about during his own lectures, he really should just retire.
Rate my prof really scared me at the beginning of the year, but he's not bad and it wasn't hard. He does give out a lot of homework, it's not necessarily difficult if you keep on top of it and ask questions. There are two midterms, but he tells you exactly what you need to know/study. If you don't put in the work, though, likely you will do poorly.
Not the best with math but had to take calc without taking it in high school (only got up to pre calc). I was nervous with the bad ratings for this teacher and this class IS passable. However the teacher is awful and I did learn everything from my tutor, but if you put in the extra work you will pass, you might not get an A but it will be passing.
I can't recommend this class. As someone who had never taken calc before, I basically taught myself everything. Long, impossible HWs, confusing weekly “quizzes”, and lectures that felt more like theory than actually being taught how to do the problems. The exams were actually the most mangeable part of the class, but I still can't recommend.
He's up there among the worst math teachers at Fordham. Don't take him for the sake of your GPA because he can't teach. His lessons are either too fast-paced, he overcomplicates simple topics, and his teaching lacks chronological organization.
Super sweet guy and understanding with grades. Claims to not care about grades and just wants you to understand concepts. That being said I have never learned a single thing from his lectures. He just talks at you and writes random things on the chalkboard, never actually explaining a single concept or how to do something. So so so bad.
Calc 1 with Professor Morrison is no easy feat. The lectures can be confusing, and the workload is heavy. However, using unstuck ai alongside the textbook and study sessions really helped me stay on top of the material. With dedication, I managed to pass the class.
Dr. Morrison isn't always great at going into detail. However, it is obvious he cares that you do well. He is very willing to help outside of class and is generous with extensions. The final is worth anywhere from 40-60% so take good notes. If you have him I recommend finding a calc professor you like on youtube to help.
