What a nice guy! Hes willing to help you with what ever you need and the discussion were always really entertaining. Its hard to make things like rhetoric interesting but he does. Plus he has an abundance of odd knowledge so you could litereally talk to him about ANYTHING. Hes probably the most fashionable professor EVER! hes a doll

Good teacher, very willing to help his students. At times, we dealt with very controversial issues in class and I felt the class was hypersexualized. If you are not comfortable discussing provocative materials in class, do not take his course. Other than, enjoyed him as an instructor.

Professor Sherman was a great professor & gave really good feedback. The papers are all reliant on your ability to find a good argument & running with it but once you find yours, they're simple to write. Make sure you go to class, he does place 100 points on attendance/ participation which is over 10% of your grade. Overall, good class!

Ian is really easy to understand and knows a lot of topics. The literature he shows is really interesting. You do have to write a lot but he gives you the freedom to write something that you take interest in so it isn't that hard. He is such an awesome professor.

I went into this class thinking it was going to suck but I just needed to get it over with. But at the end of the quarter I'm sad its over. Ian is a great person and amazing professor. He gives out some tough essays and makes you think a lot but you learn, build and improve as a writer. Best class & professor I've had thus far.

I took English 101 with Ian. He was great, very funny, and an all around awesome guy. You don't have to try hard to pass in this class, he gives great feedback so you know exactly what to fix to get100%. Also when writing papers, your first draft can be bullet points with evidence. This helped me alot because I freaked out so much about long essays

He is really entertaining, kind and eager to teach students. His class was pretty easy to get a good grade also. He literally encourages students to study English!

He's literally the best instructor I've ever had. He's so passionate about what he does and he tries everything to encourage his students. My average gpa is pretty low but I got 4.0 on his course. He gives complex and though readings but they help you so much to develop new skills. Even though I hate reading , I didn't want his course to end.

He is a really helpful teacher and he gives really good feedback. He gives tons of homework and a College level 20 pages of essay to let you read on. In the same week, you have to hand in a report. He said that this class is harder than the other ENGL&101 classes. I recommend Mr. Ian's class only if you can handle the work load.

I took professor Sherman's English 101 this summer and am glad I had the chance to learn from him. This was the easiest course I had taken so far and would've easily gotten 4.0 if I turned in all my work. Really recommend taking him.

Best teacher ever! He is very humorous. And he can teach hard articles by a very essay way. He would answer your questions clearly and he gives extra credits! His papers area little bit difficult, but he would give enough time to do it. Also,you can go to his office, he would help you.

I took Ian's hybrid version of Engl& 236 in winter 2016. The work didn't even feel like work! Ian is understanding and gives helpful feedback. He inspired me to be more creative with my writing and to appreciate the art of literature. I had a blast in this class!

Funny, provides a wide range of acceptable work criteria, and showcases numerous different types of writing from many different sources. Whether you prefer poetry or short stories, both are acceptable and welcomed. He loves getting multiple opinions, and is happy to work with you to negotiate work.

I definitely recommend taking Sherman. In the class you'll have to write three essays and you'll have a chance to edit them for full credit at the end of the quarter. His class is extremely easy and it's never bore. You don't really need a book for his class since all the information on quizzes can be found in the internet.

Great teacher. He's on my list of best teachers I've had in school. Taught the whole class something new and gave me courage to share my writings with others. Awesome guy!

Professor Ian was absolutely great! I took this class to continue to expand my knowledge of creative writing and not only did that happen, but I also enjoyed myself immensely in class. He did a great job explaining the material and assignments and was very approachable and just a fun professor all around. I would take another class with him. :)

To be honest, I'm fed up w Eng class, but Ian makes it fun cuz he's so hilarious. He really amazed me of the way he teaches with all of his passion. If u take his class, get ready to read A TON OF tough articles, you gotta work so hard, but don't worry cuz it's worth the effort that you made. And you'll be satisfied w how much you have improved.

His feedbacks for each of your papers are absolutely specific and helpful. Plus,not only that you don't have to do final paper or anything, but also, he'll give you a chance to revise your papers to boost ur grade. Yeah he might give you like a chapter from some crazy philosophical book that u gotta work on, but you won't regret of taking his class

(I took 2 class a week) The homework types are quizzes (unlimited try), discussion (+600 words), and reply discussion(+50) Paper��: 3 paper (+750, +1200, +1500) Trust me! I am terrible at writing but those length are EASY as long as you WORK!

Mr Sherman is a great professor. His lectures are fun and engaging. There are 3 essays we need to write in this class, all which you can revise at the end of the quarter to boost your grade. He gives very good feedback after grading each essay. Be sure to come to class everyday because participation is graded!

There's only 3 graded essays throughout the whole quarter, rough drafts are required, not graded but will get feedback from peers AND the teacher. Easy to understand the lessons, cares about your writing, gives extra credit if you go to a writing center. Participation counts which is a boost in overall grade.

LGBTQ Literature but easy and good for straight people as well! About 4 points participation for each day of attending class. Class starts easy w/ discussion boards on short works, then moves to lots of outside reading of novels. No prior lit experience is expected, so you don't have to annotate or think too hard about metaphors. Very kind guy.

He is one of the best professors in Green River. You will have 3 papers basically, and you can resubmit all 3 essays at the end of the quarter if you're not satisfied with the first grade. As long as you show up every class and follow his guidance, you can get 4.0.

He is really and truly interest in his students and he teaches with an lot of passion. The lectures we read were very interesting. He grades in a way that you can learn from your mistakes, he gives good feedback. He is very kind. He is a great profesor and person, I really enjoy the class.

I enjoyed having Ian Sherman for Spring 2020. Yeah it's true that he took awhile to respond to emails which wasn't good, especially for Spring 2020, but he made up for it by getting rid of a major assignment. He is a fair grader and if you show effort in your work, you could end up with a 4.0 like I did.

I promise you that he is the best teacher EVER!!! If I could, I would take his class again and again. He is understandable and hilarious. He gives you the time and knowledge you need. You will have papers, but he won't be strict in grading. I feel appreciated to be in his class once. I highly recommend you take his class.

A very caring teacher, the online class overall was typical not too much work but it was there. replies to emails within 12 hours. supportive comments and reviews. gives helpful assistance when needed. encouraging cute pictures and text. takes a long time to grade but it is essays. He brings a lot of positive energy into his feedback, when assigning homework, and all the small details he adds in between. A must take professor!

Professor Sherman lays out everything in a organized manner. Everything is easy to follow. There are weekly quizzes and assignments that you can redo. This class is building you up for your final paper.

Given the fact that I hate English class, Professor Sherman was easily the best English teacher I've ever had by far. He was one of my first teachers during my first year and he was fantastic. He makes online learning really fun and is very understanding. Don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it! Highly recommend you to take his class.

Homework is due twice a week on the same day every week but isn't much at all. This class was mostly just working on skills to write a research paper that is due at the end of the quarter which is the only big grade and he gives you more than enough time to complete along with resubmitting for a better grade.

Miraculously Ian Sherman made English not suck. He gives effective feedback. He went the extra mile and sent recorded videos giving genuine feedback as well. There was a lot of writing, but he skillfully worked me through it and was accessible when needing help. I took him the 2 semesters and would take him for any other class I could.

Ian was a great professor! He's extremely kind and understanding, and appreciates everybody's work. His assignments are pretty easy with a few essays to write, but with the class topic we had (social media and technology), it was an easy class. Definitely recommend :)

Professor Sherman is the best English Teacher I've ever had! He provides great video feedback on your Papers and is very accomodating. If you miss a Virtual Lecture, you are able to make it up and there is extra credit. I've always loved writing, so this class (and teacher) has pushed me to strive for a career in writing!

PROFESSOR SHERMAN IS THE BEST. You will not regret taking his class. I am not usually an English fan but he made the class fun. He builds you up and is very positive. He is very helpful. There is minimal reading, the essays are easy, and he is a good grader. Definitely going to take another one of his classes. 10/10 recommend.

Prof. Sherman is my favorite teacher at GRC. He was very understanding about his student's issues and able to solve them together. His assignments are very easy to follow! I would give him 100 out of 10.

If Mr Sherman is available for one of your classes, TAKE HIM. Easy workload, clear grading, accepts late work, little/no homework for ENGL&101 and only three papers, which he is incredibly lenient on, and gives great feedback. If you are at all a skilled writer, its the easiest writing class you will ever take and still learn something in. S+ tier.

Professor Sherman is legitimately one of the most chill, easygoing professors I've had. He's super nice, gives great feedback, and is lax on the grading front. If you meet the writing minimum, you basically get an A. Don't procrastinate, make sure you get your assignments done on time, and it's an easy A.

Ian Sherman is a teacher I wish I had in person. He made class very clear and easy to comprehend. He understood the students confusion and addressed it so we were not confused anymore. He gives good feedback for each essay, and the first draft is not graded which helps improve it without feeling stressed.

This class is so easy. Dont stress about that assignments cause he grades on completion. Only problem is he will grade until the end of the quarter. Just get help from the writing center and your essay will turn out good. Quizzes are easy as well. The final paper he grades so leniently I only missed a little points, it was not my best work.

Many insightful lessons on grammar and better essay-writing skills overall. Grades faster than most English teachers, and lots of discussion boards!

Awesome professor honestly. I was a bit nervous since this was my first college English class but he made the quarter great and not stressful. He gives useful feedback on the first non-graded rough draft of essays and then more on the graded essay. He allows you to revise all your essays at the end of the quarter if you want a better grade on them!

One of the best teachers I have had in my entire life. Ian is absolutely amazing and a model for what other educators should aspire to be. The structure of the course is perfectly laid out, he is one of the most caring and kind people you will ever meet. It was truly a privilege to have taken his class.

50% of your final grade is your final research paper. The whole quarter you work towards said paper - with discussion boards, some reading, some short quizzes. Mr Sherman is very nice, flexible and he grades pretty generously. As long as you do the work on time, you'll easily get an A. Definitely take him whenever possible!!!

Very kind teacher, gave very clear feedback and many opportunities to bring up your grade. Our "textbook" was a relatively small chapter book that was very educational but also entertaining to read. I needed a lot of extensions throughout the quarter and he was very willing to let me have them. Great teacher, would totally take again.

He’s a really nice professor. There were 3 papers in total, and had workshops where we had to give feedback on other students’ papers. We had many discussions, but in in-person classes, we could pick who we wanted to group up with. He isn’t strict on grading and deadlines. His lectures were very fun and entertaining as well.

Ian is definitely my favorite professor I've had so far. He gives amazing feedback on pretty much every assignment, and grades very fairly. He is very helpful and caring if you need extra help with something, and will get back to you quicky if you email him. I 100% recommend this professor, and wish I could take another one of his classes myself.

Knowledgeable. VERY good at teaching. Learned A LOT of valuable things. 50% of grade was based on 1 assignment but don't let that scare you bc he preps you well and isn't a harsh grader. A lot of assignments are graded on participation. Very understanding and emphasizes that he wants to make sure everyone feels welcomed. One of the best profs!!

This is my 2nd class with Ian (had 101 on Zoom) and I'm so glad I took it! Learning about myths from all over the world and not just Greek/Roman was a breath of fresh air. There's 2 (1hr20m) classes/wk + 2 papers + Midterm & Final (all relatively easy) and some discussions. Pay attention in-class & you'll do great! 100% recommend!!!

Had him for English 101, and felt as if his lectures were a bit boring at times. However, he created a great classroom environment, where I felt comfortable with everyone. The feedback that he gave back was really helpful and motivating. It was genuine feedback, and it didn't take him that long to grade. Great professor, but boring lectures.

His lecture style is incredibly engaging, he makes you feel included in the discussions without being on the spot, and I felt I actually learned skills. His office hours were so helpful for concepts I had a harder time grasping. This man has genuinely mastered the art & craft of teaching.

I've taken him for English 101 and this quarter 128. He's a very kind person and really great teacher. He is very considerate of everyone in the class and is incredibly patient. Even though the workload was a bit above average, he never marked me late and was incredibly accommodating and empathetic to any late work. Would take him again!

Amazing teacher. If you're taking English 128, don't be overwhelmed by the final paper. He does a fantastic job of walking you through the writing process, and you have a 3rd optional draft incase you're unsatisfied with your grade.

One of my favorite professors of all time. My only complaint to give is that he takes forever to grade stuff and respond to questions. If it wasn't for that, he would be a perfect professor. Still among my favorites and I highly suggest taking him, there aren't many professors as good as him.

Mr. Sherman is so friendly and checks in individually with each student to make sure they're understanding everything. Feedback on assignments is super helpful as well. Even though writing isn't always fun he understands this and adds personality to his teaching style.

Prof. Sherman was phenomenal to have as a professor. He's inspiring, caring, and very quick-witted. This class was honestly very helpful for my understanding of research processes, and Prof. Sherman teaches the material excellently. Work consisted of various assignments (readings/discussions/quizzes) that help you work towards your research paper.

Professor Sherman seemed like he really cared about teaching Creative Writing. The two required books that you had to buy for this class were not expensive and were not terribly long. Also I enjoy that his grading was based on if you completed the assignment to your best abilities or not. I would definitely take one of his classes again!

Professor Ian is an amazing professor who gives feedback and help on class material. There was only about 3-4 assignments per week, with 2 essays, a midterm and final exam. The only thing that I would say he needs to work on is just grading things on time but other than that, would definitely recommend taking this class!

Eng 128 has to be one of the easiest classes at GRC. 12 weeks for a 3000-page APA paper can be finished in 3-4 weeks. Even though Ian is one of the most passionate teachers I've had, it doesn't really make up for the lack of content he's forced to teach.

Easily one of the best classes and best professors I've ever had. Ian is clearly passionate about what he teaches and reaching students through things they actually care about. Super active and engaging with the class and the discussions were never boring. Overall kind and caring professor, super flexible and understanding, 100% would take again.
