Nice woman. Don't give her a reason to hate you, and you're golden.
TOUGH class - Reading is tough, grade is based off two tests and a final. Good luck!
This class is easy because there are only a couple of tests, which she allows OPEN NOTES AND BOOK!! Wow, I've never heard of such a thing. She is also interested in the subject.
she is a mean teacher. she is ****. be careful to folloe her rules and not ask too many questions during her class time, becuase that is her time and if you have lots of questions go to her office hours or see a tutor
HORRIBLE CLASS. Do NOT take this if you want an easy way to fill your math requirement. Teacher is pretty bad. Made students feel like idiots. Attendance was mandatory and if you had to go to the bathroom you were marked absent. BEWARE!!!
Worse teacher ever to teach
Tough class, reading is tough, but if you participate in discussion, and show up, you should do fine. I wish I could've taken more from the class, but our semester she did alot of changing and we spent DAYS discussing plagerism, waste of time!
VERY BAD TEACHER!! DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS! Its a waist of youre time and money!
This is a class for the mathmatically challenged, it fills the math credit admirably...however, this prof. has such a way of teaching that the steps are hard to catch onto. Think about proofs in algebra and geometry...the work is like that all semester. Your work must be neat or she won't take it!
The best logic teacher at Century. Gives lots and lots of examples. Good sense of humor, I loved learning about jackalopes.
At first I couldn't stand how dry the class was. However, as it went on it got better and more interesting. She really wants to help students do well and understand logic. Also, learning about jackalopes who like to kayak while eating smores is fun... she has a unique sense of humor.
Awful. This class was incredibly HARD and the teacher is inflexible. Mistakes are not tolerated as with other classes of this type, and you feel LUCKY if you have a C. Most people don't do well and get annyoed by how LONG time seems to pass.
Ugh, don't know what the person below me is talking about. Almost the entire class feels left in the dust because she forges through, giving very little regard to whether students understand the material or not. Just about anyone who has had her will tell you the same: GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN!
this teacher does not realize not everyone is a logic major, way to hard!!!
this class is too hard for most people get. not everyone is a a logician phd. i took this class last summer and it was a horror story. the teacher is mean and not helpful and students definately need to be given time to digest and comprehend the material
She has standards, yes, but they are quite impossible for most people to achieve. Her pace is quite fast, and after talking with many other students, they all say that this class just zooms right along. I'm happy that you are getting it, however, what about the majority of the class who is not?
What a hotbed of activity! Quite honestly, she is very difficult and very vague. Often trails off the ends of her sentences, making one wonder what she was trying to say. Sometimes spends too much time on EASY things but not enough on HARD things. This professor is HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED.
Gives good examples, explains clearly. Course material is challenging and she encourages us to work hard and helps you learn if you want to. Many raters here seem to think college should be spoon-feeding and are angry it isnt. This is a good prof who cares about student success. Take this class
College level? HA. I pride myself on a 3.8 GPA, and attended Hamline for a semester. The problem isn't with the material, but the TEACHER. I do have to agree that she is quite often not clear and talks too fast.Barreling straight through without regards to the students understanding is simply wrong
Wow, word about this site has gotten out! I heard about it from someone in class. At any rate, the problem is definately the TEACHING. when such a high percentage of people don't understand it, the problem can't be on the student's en, and reflects poorly upon the teacher's abilities.
listen to all of the voices saying to get out while you can. i wish i did.
Emotional scarring may fade away, but that big fat F on your transcript won't.
Silly stories? If talking about transvestites (yes, she did this) is funny, then you are a pathetic person. I have honestly never seen hands move so slowly on a clock. Most people don't have a firm grasp on the material. She begins new units before having a test for the previous unit. Take it wi
I was nervous after I heard how hard this class and Baltikauskas was. I have attended all the classes, and done all the homework and am doing fine. If you start getting confused read the book, dont just jump on the bandwagon and start complaining about the teacher, that wont help you get caught up.
Ugh, this teacher is horrid. spends far too much time on easy stuff, but when it comes to hard stuff we go way too fast. she has a tendancy to believe people understand what she is talking about, even if they don't. mumbles at the ends of sentences.
Awful! Unethical! Should NOT be teaching. Has chip on her shoulder. Blatantly rude in class. Used her power as a professor in a way that was demeaning to students. Had A’s until she found out I wasn’t a “follower” of her ideology; she tried everything in her power to fail me,I tried to fight it, but ended up with a C. Unfair
This professor makes me want to shriek! She likes the subject, but can't teach it very well. As someone else mentioned, she excessively mentions jackalopes and kayaks, and her idea of joking is to give a logic problem having to do with transvestites. Bring a glass of water with you; this class is dry. Take it from Steck instead.
I think my ratings are explanation enough.

I thought the course was pretty interesting actually. Her quirky stories were dull sometimes, and other times just funny. May be picky when it comes to grading, but I pulled off a C in the class and I was SO HAPPY!
Useless! Endless speeches on unrelated subjects. I had to learn from the book, because she confused me.
This is college, if you need your hand to be held you're a freaking moron. Anyone who complains about this boring yet straight forward teacher is a idiot. Attendence isn't required, there are 4 tests barely any homework.. its all right there, if you fail

An ethics class, I honestly don't rememeber what it was about at all, I just remember starying at a couple of gils thongs that sat in front of me. I got a solid A in the class, I go to a 4 year college now after transfering from century and I can tell you that of all of the classes that I had at century her's was by far the easist. Read and show u
THis teacher is horrible! Talk to almost anybody, and those that have had her (with a few exceptions) can't stand her. She's unclear, and makes class nearly impossible. If you can find another prof, choose him or her, but NOT BAULTIKAUSKAS!
worst teacher at century BY FAR. her classes are nearly impossible, and she is very rude at times. it's difficult to even ask her for help, because when you do, she just snaps that "it was in the book" even though the book doesn't make sense. take her only if you have to...

The material in the class is very dry but I think dr. b does the best with what she has to work with. She goes over all comenly missed problems and is open to do any proof or problem asked. If you attend class and pay attention you can pass. Just because it is hard material you can't be a sissy and blame it on her.
GET OUT! This professor is extremely harsh on students, and will even arbitrarily drop students from her class. She assumes that everyone understands what she's talking about. I tried to ask her a question about what we were doing and she told me to read the book (which doesn't make sense). I PAID for her to teach me, and I feel swindled.
Dr. B is very knowledgeable & gives students a clear understanding of material. She's open to questions & helpful. She's even delayed a test if students feel overwhelmed & need more time. As long as you attend class & read the material, you will have no problem getting an A. Talk to her - she's a very nice person with a lot to offer.
Don't take her for this class. Pretty much everything has been covered about her in other posts. My biggest complaint is that she makes the material more difficult than it should be. I stopped paying attention to her in class and started focusing on the book. Logic isn't too bad if you can see the patterns. But Dr. B makes it more difficult.
She is a nice person and works hard to help students really understand logic. Negative comments come from students who are too immature to follow her directions. Grow up, you'll appreciate her when you are an adult.
if dr b is so bad and not effective, how is it that some students get good grades and get along fine with her? people think she is rude when she reminds them to be on time or to not disturb others or to read the book, i don't think she's rude, she is just holding students responsible.
Dr. B is a very fair prof. She gives you what you earn. She runs her classes like a college classroom, not a high school classroom. She expects her students to have a certain maturity to them. That means being responsible, respectful, and acting like an adult.
There seems to be this stigma that if one doesn't think she's a good teacher that the person is immature. Most profs run their classrooms like a college classroom. It has nothing to do with high school vs. college. She's quite simply not a good teacher. One COUNSELOR even says to try a different prof if possible. That speaks volumes right there.
grade is based on 2 papers and 3 tests... little chance to mess up.
Bah. She does not belong teaching college-level courses -- she expects everyone to act like high-schoolers. If you treat students like that, they'll dish it back at you. She's often rude to the students and insists on sticking to the sylabus, even if people are having trouble with the concepts.
I took the class in the summer session, i wish i knew this web site before, i am a prety much an A student but i got really hard time getting B in this class, each of the question in her exam worth 4 point if you miss 3 you are one letter down. her exam is a little bit tough, but i learn a lot of stuff in her class over all she is not good or bad.
Very nasty woman
I personally have no problem with her and I think she is very nice, but the class is difficult. On tests you use both notes and readings from the book which aren't always covered if the class doesn't have time. Nice lady, but a tough teacher. Would reccommend taking someone else!
She is a horrible teacher. She answers all questions condesendingly. She will not teach you anything, and she is not a very nice person.
Graded only on 3 tests and final- each question worth 4 pts so if you get a few wrong that can really screw things up with your grade. There is no extra credit, so one bad test and you fail the class. Plus tests have trick ?s that are not consistent. Unreasonable. Also PURE LECTURE CLASS! If you don’t like lecture, don’t go with this Professor.
After this class, I hope to never see her again. She is mean, cold, but sometimes acts nice, but watch out!! If you ask a question that she thinks is dumb she will demean you, and talk down to you;In front of the whole class, or yell at you if as she says'' Your Disturbing the Class!!'' She makes errors often but expects the class to ace exams
at first i hated this teacher but when i told her what she had done to make me mad she apolgized. ive never had a teacher do that before
Is nice to you when you fail and hates you when you ace a exam! Try's to help but just makes things more complicated! Lectures like she instructs at Yale University.
not approachable-not helpful-only grades on 4 tests and no other work or extra credit-
The WORST teacher I have had at Century. If you are even thinking about taking a class with her run the other way and seek professional help. I made one comment in class about wanting to move-on to talking about the next class period's exam and for the rest of the semester she continually made me the brunt of her jokes. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS.
****READ THIS****OMG! She is the WORST professor I've had at this school in 2 years! This is also the first class that I've taken a W for. TAKE ANOTHER TEACHER!!!
i didn't like this class at first because the teacher didn't know how to teach. don't take the class if you don't ever pay attention in class. also, the tests are worth too much, make a mistake on the test and you'll will fail.
She sucked, her lectures make no sense, there are quizzes almost every day so if you skip class, you will fail the quiz. She didn't cancel class during the snow storms this year, which just pissed me off. She's a terrible teacher
I had Ida for spring 2007. Ida often talks down to the class and it seems sometimes she forgets we're adults. She often gets confused with her teaching and sometimes gives out incorrect info. However if you can get past her hardness she will help you if your stuck and baby you threw it. If you do your homework an easy A.
OMFG!!! This was the WORST teacher I've had at this school in 3 years. I've never taken a "W" before, but I had to for her class. If you can, take another teacher.
I loved Dr. B's class. She has a great sense of humor and works very hard to help us understand the content of the class.
Dr. B is GREAT! I took World Religions Spring 07 and it was a great class. Yes, you have to work, study, read, etc. but this is college and that is to be expected. Students are mean to her, but I think they don't understand that she's playing the devil's advocate and getting interesting conversations going. Great Prof-really cares about students
Not a good teacher, does not help, yet is easy to argue with. I thought world religion would have fun lectures and topics to talk about but instead i learned about how much she likes to kiak!!
Nothing says you know the material like mispronouncing the terms. Give me a break. My high school World Religions class taught me more in less time and with a teacher that knew more information. What does that say about this college level professor? Frustrating to deal with and irritating to listen to.
Honestly, all you have to do in this class is show up everyday, listen to her lectures, and actually try to comprehend them, and you will get an A. No homework, you can use your book on almost everything. However she gets upset rather easy (kinda fun to watch though).
If you need to take Intro to Logic, don't take it with her! I re-took the class after failing it with her and got an "A" w/ Patty Steck! She has a way easier way of teaching the material. Your gauranteed to PASS the class if you just go to PATTY STECK
Talks to the class like we're complete morons: actually spent class time explaining what the "vs." in a court case meant (while attempting to lecture Roe vs. Wade) But then she expects us to understand concepts she never once mentioned in class. Awful teacher!
communicating when it comes to logic is confusing and can be misinterpreted easily on BOTH sides. i think she tries her best. also, she IS helpful, its just she is the type of person who thinks that students should be responsible enough to read on their own. the book is EASY to read.
She's an easy enough teacher if you don't care about the material. It's extremely difficult for her to clarify anything. She knows the rules, but she doesn't seem to know or care why they exist. When answering your questions, she seems to seize on your slightest misundertanding or misstatement, real or imagined, to totally derail the conversation.
Great teacher, a little odd, but it made things entertaining. She explained concepts straight from the book but made them easy to understand in class. Tests were fair, almost easy as long as you show up to class. Slackers won't like her, but if you just do what you are supposed to like any other student, her class is not that difficult.
I took logic with this teacher, and it was an easy class. I think it's hard for her to connect to the students, so make your questions clear and be patient. She does care about her students' success! A lot of the students didn't like her, but they were the ones who were talking in class instead of listening. Act mature, and you'll be just fine!
Avoid her as you can. She descreminates sudents by their race, ethnicity, and culture. Very strict and gives an unclear instructions. Unfair instructor!!!
Dr. Baltikauskas is a very nice person, and is very intelligent. She has high expectations, which would be fine, if she was clear on the class content. Not much for daily hmwk. Doing well on tests are important. Its very tough to actually learn in this class. She just lectures.I was really looking fwd to taking this class,I DO NOT recommend her.
AWEFUL TEACHER! Very terrible and does not deserves to be a teacher. If you are someone who's good at telling what another person thinks, then you can take her class but I don't recomend her to any students out there. She gives home works and does not specify what she wants but expects you to know what she wants done. Please avoid her at Century Co
I do not recomend this teacher to any student who wants to take Phil at Century College. She is very mean and discriminative. She does not explain what she wants in her home works but she expects students to know what she expects.
Her "soapbox" teaching method takes time to get used to. She holds her students to a higher standard & expects the same...attend class, 4 open book exams (find a buddy & make it a group exam)& write 5 discussion papers. Just like every college-level class, if you apply the book to your papers & can comprehend the material you shouldn't struggle.
Extremely kind and willing to help if you ask. The class is somewhat confusing, and the tests are strictly based off the book. The assignments are vague and she is a fairly tough grader, but otherwise the class is easy.
Lectures both boring and filled with misinformation and errors, while the rare classroom "group" learning assignments were handled poorly ineffectively. Instructor did not evidence an understanding of the subject. Easy to get good grade if you turn off brain when taking mult choice tests--questions make no logical sense. Text written by undergrads?
I do NOT recommend her as a teacher for biomedical ethics. Lecture were often off topic and always insults the same students again and again when they ask for clarity or questions. Tests were easy but she is a VERY tough grader on written assignments.
This teacher was no help at all. Notes taken from her where considered wrong on test. Will not allow more than 3 absencence or grade will be dropped up to two letter grades than she will automatically drop you. Horrible class. This is honestly one teacher who pushes the limits of teaching at a two year college
A nightmare. She talks to you like you wouldn't figure how stupid you are if someone explained it well. Concentrates on non educational stuff like where your comas are obsessivelly. Will denounce something in the text and penalise you if you point it out. I don't respect this college anymore for having someone like this for a teacher.
Avoid her bioethics class if you do not want stress in your life. Strict attendance policy, not good lectures just reads from the book. Horrible class. And almost 1/3 of the class dropped and more expected by 11/19/10.
AVOID!! Biomedical Ethics is a nightmare. If you want to spend your time listening to a teach read from a book (and please keep in mind you attendance is mandatory) then this is the clas for you! I was late ONCE and left early because I had no babysitter and now the best I can get in the class is a B because her policies are whack. JUST SAY NO!!!
She doesn't explain things well. She is on her soapbox and lets you know it. Talks a lot and doesn't like when anyone asks questions. Test questions are 4pts each so if you miss a few you could fail! Very strict attedance policy! Cmon we are adults. I am 39 yrs old and have taken lots of credits at Century and have never had a teacher this bad!
Attendance must, you can't be late, she dropped my grade from an A to a B for being late. She just reads from the book. Our class avg. was low for every test. Avoid strictly her class. Poor teaching skills, subject wise and interpersonal skills.
Ida is an awesome professor. A lot of people have trouble with her because she treats people like adults and many of them aren't. Her classes are straight forward and attendence is non-mandatory. Again, I repeat - a lot of people have trouble with her classes because she expects you to do the work (omg) and be prepared.
I really dislike having her as a teacher. She doesn't explain things well at all and she talks down to students. Today I asked her a question and she was actually really rude to me in her response. She is the worst teacher I have had at Century. I can't stand her and hate going to her class. Ugh.
Very Scatterbrained. Her lectures go off on tangents-then back to what she was talking about previously. Doesn't explain things very well. VERY strict on attendance. Over Half the class has failed every test- maybe this should be a hint or a red flag at the teaching abilities.
Mandatory attendance. Poor teaching skills. does not want you to ask any questions. Rephrases the question you asked to benefit her own answer. Who lowers a grade for attendance? Really. She does not treat people like adults because she talks down to you, do not answer your qestions or try and help understand the material. Would not recommend her.
Even if your granny dies, you better be IN class, or your grade goes down an entire letter. Do not give your opinion or ask a question because she will talk down to you so fast your head will spin. All in all, do NOT take her!
Horrible teacher, will not answer any questions and will scold you for not understanding. Pretty much have to teach yourself in this class. Attendance policy is a joke. Also has at least one test a week! sometimes three. DO NOT TAKE HER, she should be examined by Century College for her embarassing teaching skills
Terrible teacher will not help doesnt care what you have to say and you must call her DR. in a community college!
This is a TOUGH class. No class interaction, all lectures. Not much notes to take, but LOTS of study guide work to do. You can use notes on tests and quizzes. Attendance is mandatory. Very Strict. Very opinionated and wants you to do everything her way. Close minded. Doesn't care if students pass. Not a good DR, (stuck up). I do NOT recommend!!!
I totally disagree with these comments, Dr. B is great! If you follow her direction she lays out in the syllabus you'll know exactly how to study. If you have trouble with something, just ask - she doesn't talk down to people in this class, but she does expect you to be an adult and do the work. This isn't 13th grade for Pete's sake!
Very difficult to follow. Moves quickly from one point to the next and does not allow time for questions. Is very rigid in her attendance policy.I would not recommend this teacher.
Tough but this is a college philosophy class
If you are considering taking her class or need it for a requirement....LOOK FOR A BETTER TEACHER. She does not answer questions well or does she give a crap how you do in her class. She will assign homework but it's never turned in. I liked the material but HATED HER. Don't do it to yourself, do not take her. EVER!
I loved her. All she wants is for people to be adults in class and not to do things that are disrespectful. She goes go through her homework in class, asks questions, tells jokes and is very respectful of others. She is straight forward, not tricky and fun.
I was really worried about taking this class with Baltikauskas after seeing all the comments. But she was a great teacher and she is very very reasonable. After every quiz and test we went over the answers and you could challenge anything and present your argument on why you feel you got the question right, just be ready to support your argument!
If you are looking for an easy A she is not the teacher to take. One of the only Century college teachers that actually challenges students on an academic level. Her reflection papers were tough and she will give you a 0/5 for spelling errors....Be prepared to read because she relies heavily on the textbook.
very hard to follow. does not care if u get it or understand the material. does not answer questions makes you feel like your questions are stupid. she embrasses the students to the point you don't want to ask questions. I would not ever recommend anyone to take her class.
looking for a Phil1051 class to take and don't know who you gonna take for this semester? I'm so glad you read this because it will help you to make the right choice. I bet you don't ever take this class unless you are a very smart and did not work at all. I mean it doese depend on the person but my experience, it's very hard class. just don't take
Hard course. Lectures semi interesting & do not relate to quiz/tests. Rely on your text books for the quiz & tests. Quizzes are easy if you truly read the chapter. Two 6 page papers that she grades at a comp II level. DO NOT TEXT! I had personal issues during finals week and she was very understanding and helpful. Nice professor, hard class.
Her speech is not clear!!! She is too often makes mistakes!Very hard to follow. does not care if u get it or understand the material. does not answer questions makes you feel like your questions are stupid. she embarrasses the students to the point you don't want to ask questions. I would not ever recommend anyone to take her class.
I'm so glad you read this because it will help you to make the right choice. I bet you don't ever take this class unless you are a very smart and did not work at all. I mean it does depend on the person but my experience, it's very hard class. just don't take it!!! Save your time, money and nervous system! She is helpless when you need help
Horrible instructor. Makes students feel stupid when no one knows an answer. She made 2 students leave her class because she "thought" they were texting when they weren't. She is rude and doesn't care what questions you ask, she won't answer them.
She is a horrible teacher. Whatever she is lecturing has nothing to do with the quizzes or tests. She only likes things proper like emails and will tell you to resend emails in a proper manner. She will only be called PROFESSOR! She is a horrible teacher and doesn't know what she's talking about. She asks the class rather than teaching it herself.
I felt bad for people who asked questions...she let them have it. Def makes you not want to participate and ask questions. I'm almost afraid to chew gum in class! Seems like she could be nice but chooses not to. Oan, you better be writing at college level in five minutes or less and be super thorough or else! Outrageous expectations no exceptions!
She is not very helpful or flexible. I was afraid to ask questions in the class or to participate. She grades very hard. I studied for a test thinking I got an A I received a low C.... I ended up withdrawing. I will take again with another professor. I do not recommend taking this class with her.
By far the worst professor I've had at Century. Hard to understand but the classwork was easy. The attedence policy was strict and you could fail off of being late even if you got 100% on everything else. Didn't teach anything and wasn't clear at all. I quesiton why we have professors like this. you might as well be teaching yourself.
Worst prof ever! She said she " doesn't have time for all our little questions". Not helpful at all and was rude and basically laughed at you if you got an answer wrong. Be prepared to teach yourself and be frustrated. This was the first class I've ever had to drop. When I said i needed help she said I better find someone to help me then.
She was very unhelpful and seemed to enjoy putting students on the spot and mocking them when they didn't answer a question correctly. She was really strict about attendance, and while the material was interesting, I would be very hesitant to have her as a professor again.
WORST TEACHER EVER!!! She is a terrible teacher and way to strict. One of my class mates asked her a question and she refused to answer and told them to figure it out. Then she gave an extra credit Q and someone asked her to repeat it and she said you should have been listening the first time. NEVER take her. Treats 3 credits like its worth 5
Do not take this teacher. She holds different standards for different students, is extremely rigid and confusing. Will not help you if she doesn't like you. I did my best in her class and tried to get help outside of class and she actually kicked me out of her office because I wasn't able to meet with her during her office hours. (I work full time)
This instructor has miserable comments going back to 2003. Shame on Century College for allowing her to continue wasting student's money. This is UNACCEPTABLE.
The WORST teacher i've ever had. Often talks down to students and puts them on the spot. She's not clear whatsoever on material and class avg on our tests is usually around 50%... I was very excited coming into this class and was severely dissapointed. DO NOT TAKE HER
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, don't do it! I have attended two universities prior to coming to Century and I have never had an experience as bad as this one. She is rude, condescending, and has zero compassion for her students. I can't believe she's still teaching.
If you want to take a philosophy class, take someone else. She doesn't promote or encourage questions, lessons are taken DIRECTLY from the book, and her attitude is horrible towards her students.
This teacher did have strict rules (No leaving early, No playing with your phone, limited tardiness, etc) and you needed to severely be ON TIME, but overall if you asked good questions, took good notes, and studied hard, you would be fairly well. If you want to goof around and not pay attention, the fault is on you. Always seek help if you need it.
Save your time and money: do not take this professor. Very unclear in her brutally long lectures. Doesn't try to make sure you understand the material. Disrespectful towards students.
On a personal level, one on one she can be very nice. But as a teacher, shes strict, not even by the book more of by the delusion in her head? The material is already hard for some people in logic but she was just so. bad. worst professor.
The students who do poor are the ones who are not doing the homework or showing up to class. The homework is not graded or collected, so it's on your own merit. Material is reviewed before testquiz. No tolerance for cell phones in class, and lateabsent students. Show up, do the work, and you'll be fine.
Course is hard and harder in summer. Teacher really works with you to understand material. If you expect to slide by forget it, this is college now so responsibility is expected. Involves class is making rules. Some said she was hard or unfriendly but I found her helpful and open.
One of the worst professors I ever took in college, don't take her course, find an alternative professor!
Feel as if this professor has a mean streak in her. How ironic when the class is about morals.
Good class although challenging. Teacher helps and discussions are fun.
Homework must be done to practice the problems. Teacher really helpful. Started out taking for requirement but got to enjoying it.
I'm not sure how this women is still teaching. She is extremely disrespectful towards students. You can barely understand what she's saying half the time. Just do yourself a favor, find a different professor.
started out rocky but once she got to know the class things got better. I definitely would take her again -shes patient, caring, kind,.
dr b was very helpful - in class & office hours. class was laid back - class went at our pace.
This class was more interesting than I had expected. Teacher really willing to answer questions. Discussions were good.
I really like our ethics class - the discussions are fun & awesome.
Class was awesome. Ida really care about students - called me when I was absent.
Always willing to help, just have to ask.
ethics wasn't very interesting at first, but got much better
course material very hard, but teacher explains it well. many home works and quizzes in summer.
The lack of organization, presentation, and material she provides is unthinkable. You're all on your own with the textbook. Her teachings are unclear, "Lecture" is her asking what we learned from the book basically. Announces quiz dates in class but doesn't specify what assignments to turn in or what she wants in general. Her schedule is arbitrary.
She's the absolute worst prof I've ever had. Doesn't like to be challenged in class. Just wants you to sit there and listen to her talk about what she says ethics is, even though she might be wrong about some things. The worst is that she has no problem undermining her students in class in front of everyone. Stay away from this one please!
good teacher - available, Lets students make up their own miond using the activities of phil
dr b is great - i would take other classes with her. i didn't like ethics at first, but dr b made it interesting - lots of example. dr cares about what students think.
Was so excited for this class. Hate it so far. She's a terrible teacher and she's hard to understand. She doesn't explain her expectations for assignments. Everyone in my class hates her too. Also we started with maybe 20 students and we are down to 9... Actually 7.
i don't know why the person below wrote - i loved dr b, and there was no class that went from 20 to 7. most students in my class liked dr b. grading policies were clearly explained and on the syllabus, and handouts - so no problem.
Dr. B is alright. Grading is very clear, easy quizzes along with a cheat sheet, exams can be confusing, but lecture is very boring. For the first few weeks, she made us talk. After realizing that no one understands what is happening in class, she finally lectured. If you take your time to read the book, you will understand her class.
Dr B --- just follow the syilibis and you will be fine. material is difficult and she lectures with the experience of someone with a doctorate - she knows her stuff but sometimes doesn't realize that not everyone can follow the subject matter as fluidly. Straight up says on day one that "class my be difficult for some and I recommend study groups.
I found Dr. to be rather confusing. When lecturing she is more of an ADHD type, skipping from one subject to another before fully completing her thoughts on the first topic. Does not require class attendance or participation. Always thought it is a requirement like it is for every other class.
I found Dr. B to be very disrespectful to my peers. She lectures hard but struggles to actually "teach". In my class she announced most were failing. She didn't hold accountablity for failure to teach. She also teaches like a Dr and fails to remember she has Associates level students.
Dr. B was very helpful both in and out of class. She demonstrates problems that will be on home work, quizzes, and exams. If you don't attend ALL of class, you will miss important things.
Worst teacher I've ever had. She made no sense at all. She was very ineffective in helping students understand.
The Class was fairly easy mostly with the quizzes and exams. But her lectures are not helpful at all. Goes of topic very often. You can listen, then again lose concentration on what she is talking about.
To be completely honest, she is the worse teacher/professor I have ever had. If I didn't need this course this semester, I would have dropped and waited to take it with someone else. I don't believe anyone in our class knows what is going on at the current time. Her lectures are so poorly done, it's unreal. For Biomedical Ethics.
Dr. B is NOT teaching 1031 this semester, so get your courses straight.
Actually Dr B is teaching 1031, but not teaching 1021.
Class went from 30 people to 8 people. Pros: Test and quizzes are easy as long as you do the readings. She lets you use a cheat sheet for her tests and quizzes. Replies to emails quickly. Cons: Unclear instructions for homework but big penalties for doing it incorrectly. Ineffective, irrelevant lectures. felt like she didnt care about her students
Her lectures are confusing, there's no method to what she's doing, you spend more time defining words that pertain to nothing, and you can't ask to clarify things after class. She'll tell you the exact same nonsense she said in lecture. You're lucky if you get 100% on a quiz because you didn't memorize a specific sentence she pulled from the text.
I find that actuall content of the class is easy to comprehend, but the professor is anything but. The lectures are extremely slow, repetitive, and seemingly unrelated to content on the quiz and tests. The few people that do answer questions in class have their answers misinterpreted and told theyre wrong. Look at Idas rating and how many reviews
Dr. B was very helpful both in and out of class. She demonstrates problems that will be on home work, quizzes, and exams. If you don't attend ALL of class, you will miss important things.
Pro's: Extra Credit, Make up exams offered sometimes, Knowledgeable about Ethics and Philosophy, Clear syllabus, Answers E-mails fast. Con's: Lectures are extremely boring and not very relevant, Unable to ask questions in class unless directly related to something she just said, talks to you like your dumb, never tells you what will be on the exam.
Hard to follow often tangental lectures. No use of phones or any electronics, wont respond to questions in class
This class was hard to get through. I got an A, but that is only because I studied for hours upon hours outside of class. Far more time that I should have needed to. She is about 65 years old and talks very slow. The lectures are dull and repetitive.
I could not take Dr.B she was by far hands down the worst instructor I have ever had. I had to drop the class in order to keep my sanity.
