The student probably just got a bad grade. Ms. Ghafari is really cool - she met with each of us, looked over our drafts, really cared about how well we did. She even invited the whole class to the theater. Lots of reading, but she's the best prof! Take her class - you'll learn a lot!

Great teacher. Makes the material interesting. You forget about some of the formality of school, teacher/student, etc. and are given an intelligent and rewarding chance to learn.

I think if one is to read an English teacher's rating review, one should consider the grammar, punctuation and spelling of the reviewer. Simple errors would indicate quickly that the student had not made an effort to learn in the class, since Ms. Ghaffari clearly puts forth an effort to teach her students well.

she is my favorite teacher to date. she really cares about teaching and is very understanding with her students. sometimes the weekly readings seem overwhelming, but stick with it. speak up in class and that will make her like you even more. she wants everyone to get high grades and as long as you put in the effort you'll get them.

Professor Ghaffari is fantastic! Unfortunately the class was too short. We studied T.S. Eliot, Hamlet and the letter Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. wrote while in a Birmingham jail. She was enthusiastic about her subjects, she engaged everyone in class and we engaged her. She encouraged us to find exciting topics for the papers we wrote.

She is a demanding but a patient, sensitive, and caring teacher. Lots of reading and writing, but good stuff. Not easy but high quality. And Student-friendly. Cares about us, gives us what we need for success, and works hard for us.

She asks for a lot of participation (part of grade), so read the book. She is fair when it comes to grading and will let you rewrite a paper to improve one letter grade. Highly recommend her. But like I said, DO THE READING!

She is a very knowledgeable and helpful teacher. She makes herself very available to students via e-mail and setting up office visits. It's much more enriching if you participate, but you can still do well if you're not as talkative. Highly recommended.

This was our last day and Mrs. G told everybody in class to post their honest comments. Being in this class for four months, I know that participation is important but i did well anyway. The film bios about the writers lives were great. Shes a fair grader and gave me an extension. She'll help you out no matter what! You can tell she likes her job.

Great Teacher! Hey just read the books she assigns you, know how to write an essay and you will get an Easy A in the class. Ms.G is super helpful, if you show up, do your work and raise your hand and answer questions the class will go by easily. Granted you have to read a lot, but the books you read are classics, so it was fine with me.

Fun, fun class. Assignments are a few essays. Class discussions dominate the meetings, and she occasionally brings a video to go along with the work. I didn't read all of the books (which is where class discussion came in handy). She's very sweet and knows her stuff. Really got me interested in English.

Ghaffari is a wonderful professor, her 103 class is really laid-back. The lectures consist of reading the classics, and discussing the material. Not much writing, several research papers are required based on the readings. She loves participation from students, and cares about the well-being of her students. Take her!

She does a really great job of getting students interested in the source material. Unlike other professors, she encourages the class to engage in conversations about the stories we read, discussing points we liked or disliked. Overall, she is really helpful and very easy to get along with.

Professor Ghaffari has been by far the BEST professor i've had at LAVC. Everyone should enroll in her classes. I have taken both her 102 and 103 classes, and I am so thankful. The course work is fairly light, 3 essays for English 102, and 2 essays and a Final for 103. She is brilliant and will be an advocate towards your success in her class. TAKE!

I can't overstate how wonderful Professor Ghaffari is. She goes above and beyond to be there for her students. She is always there early for students, offers to edit/provide feedback on all essays (do this if you want an A), and picks wonderful novels for class. Expect lots of reading, though it is enjoyable. Professor Ghaffari is a benevolent, kind and devoted english professor, going beyond her role as a professor to ensure students succeed, ex. going over your essay with you to ensure you written the best essay you could. The great thing about this professor is that she'll provide quality feedback on your essays, but it's up to you to follow up on that feedback with your own work. You'll need to read through the required books to understand the prompts your given.

As long as you spend a decent amount of time on the papers, you'll be fine. She's friendly and approachable & pretty much tells you what your thesis should be if you go to office hours. Loves office visits and will help you tons. she's also a generous grader and allows a rewrite for one essay.

Friendly, caring. You do need to show up to class. If you forget to do a reading here and there, its not the end of the world but attendance matters. The final exam is pretty easy she tells you exactly whats on it.

Highly recommend Professor Ghaffari. She is a bit strict about her attendance policy. She will walk you through dense literature so that its easier to understand. Theres only a few assignments in this class, but she is a very generous grader. If you go to office hours, shell give you a very detailed outline of points to make in your papers.

She is very strict with attendance. If you can handle doing 5-7 page essays then go ahead. Its not that difficult if you do the reading. The quiz is really easy if you do the reading on the poem. Professor Ghaffari is an amazing human being with a caring heart. She is the most responsible, hard working professor I've ever met. She spends her whole summer writing sample essays for students so that students have a complete knowledge about what she's expecting from them. She gives lots of chances to the students to get their desire grade.

I took english101 over the winter and I totally recommend it! Mostly everyone got As and all you have to do is follow her rubric for essays. She gives great feedback and truly wants everyone to pass with an A. We didn't even read whole books just a few sections from them. The final was easy bc she went over the questions the day before.

We had a rocky start of her accusing me of lying to her face, which I was not. I was in her class the first day, but she marked me as absent even when I raised my hand and said present. She made every ridiculous excuse to make it seem like I was trying to weasel myself into her class. I would take her class again though.

I took Ms. Ghaffari's English 102 class during the Fall 2022 semester. Overall, she is a lovely proffessor and her digital lectures are very insightful and helpful. I took this professor for the 5-week course in the winter, I never loved English, so I decided to get it over with quickly and it was great! Her video lectures in my opinion were great and she seemed very passionate about the book we were analyzing!
