Awesome Teacher! Hint: *TAKE HIS CLASSES*
Awesome Teacher! Igor is the man!
All you have to do to pass is Try.
I thoroughly enjoyed his classes, the homework was challenging, and the tests usually required you to understand the homework in order to get an A. Igor was hilarious and I enjoyed his classes. The Masada presentation was by far the best!
Igor is a very dynamic instructor, full of energy and fun to listen to. But slackers beware: his classes are alot of work! Not difficult per se, but you really have to pay attention in class and do all the homework to succeed.
Igor is the best teacher I've had. his teaching style is a little unorthodox compared to other teachers, but cool. I never fall asleep in his class.
I think his accent is sexy
so much fun! he really just wants you to understand the concepts. i totally recommend him
This guy is not the best teacher in the world. Not because of teaching style or the difficulty of the course. This guy likes to single people out, and has favorites that get the 4.0's they are the ones that he helps out the most, others dont matter.
He is a VERY good instructor. He makes learning fun and makes sure students know the material. You learn a lot of useful stuff from him. BUT, he has this "attitude" problem, where he has "favorite" students, who he dedicates all his time to. They also get good grades. Also, Vice versa.
Igor is the best! He makes learning fun and interesting. He deserves more money!

Funny guy. Material somewhat boring.
This was seriously the best class I ever had. He is a funny funny man. Thanks Igor.
Terrible
Great teacher. Funny guy. But it seemed like everything was so easy in class, and then you got home to do the homework and it was a million times harder.
Funny instructor. You will definitely get close to a 4.0 if he likes you and thinks your smart. You just have to show him that you are working hard and get higher then average on the midterm and final. All that along with very tact class participation will yield an excellent grade. He plays favortism, so position yourself carefully or be screwed!
Yeah, he has his favorites...but it's easy to become one. Just ask lots of questions. Or at least be a wiseass...he loves a joker. The 4.0 is easy to earn. One of the funnest classes I have ever taken at Highline. Also one of my favorite teachers.
Material can be difficult, but not impossible. Participation is key in this class. If you speak up in class and on the discussion boards, you will be fine.
I loved this class, it was informative and fun. Igor loves participation. Talk in his class and your'e golden!
great and funny teacher
Igor teaches excusivly through powerpoint. He also tries to mock and challenge any religous ideas.
worst teacher on campus. very weak on lectures. not helpful at all.
Igor was great! I loved his views on teaching. Great guy!
This guy's got a great personality! I took Phys 201, 202, 203 and Astro 100 with him . You will never ever get bored and sleep in his class. 75% of the lecture time he will spend NOT on course material. Let me warn you, u will be really confused about his grading scheme at first. after taking 4 classes with him, i realized that he grades your overa
I am so glad I had Igor as an instructor, he is hilarious and he has a unique way of teaching, I had him for astronomy 120 and if I had another opportunity to take his class I would.
Igor was an awesome teacher! You HAVE to work though---he wont just hand you a good grade. His class is a lot of fun and he gets people involved. But, you have to have internet access&be willing to TALK UP in class
don't even mention religion in his class. it gets to be a BIG endless argument. I didn't realize we'd be talking about religion so much. you have to speak up in class and particiate alot both in class and in the online forum. he's a pretty good teacher - but stubborn

He is the best instructor!!!!!
Just great teacher and great subject!!!
Took several classes: 100,201,202; Very good instructor. Grading system is awesome. Love coming to his lectures! Deffinately one of the best teachers I have ever had!
Igor does have his favorites, but so what? He has such a unique way of presenting the material and his powerpoint slide shows are hypnotizing. He can get a little defensive in the area of religion, especially christianity. He usually prefers the students who are very outgoing and vocal. Just keep talking...
Igor makes a big deal about self-evaluation, but at the end of the quarter, he really just gives you whatever grade he thinks you deserve. My advice would be to talk a lot—or write a lot. Don't let him forget who you are. Make sure he knows you understand the material, and you're making a consistent effort.
I took Astronomy120 with Igor and highly discourage you to take this course unless you are very good in sciences. Drawbacks: extensive readings, frequent quizzes (60-over 100 questions each; 1 a week), no meetings on-campus, teacher does not offer straight answers for your questions. No free time at all, overwhelming with homework, anxieties. Got n
Igor teaches excusivly through powerpoint. He also tries to mock and challenge any religous ideas. He expects you teach physics to yourself. When you get home to do the homework and it a million times harder because you can't get much out of class. Also he has his silly presentation in the end of the term. Don't take him as teacher .
Not the greatest teacher. He is very brillant but can't teach physics to the level so major of the class understand. Instead there would be a few students who would understand what is going in class. I would not recommend him as a teacher otherwise end up teaching the material to yourself. Not worth your money for poor teaching.
Waste of money. Poor lack of teaching. Needs a few pointers on how to teach the material so that the entire class can understand instead of only 5 people out of the entire class. Labs are fun. Lectures suck .Presentations are a joke. Don't take him as teacher. After few weeks into the quarter you will feel lost and confused.
Greatest teacher ever. The previous three posters (or 1 really mad one) had to have been one of the slackers in the class. Igor doesn't baby you so if you just don't get it, you'll fall through the cracks. He's highly encouraging, very helpful and grades very easily (gave out at least six 4.0's last quarter). Igor's hilarious and his class is fun.
Igor is the best teacher ever. EVER!!!!! Awesome!!
Igor is a big fan of independent learning so the class is a supplement to work done on your own. Physics is a difficult subject and will require work but Igor makes the work fun.
If you're looking for the coolest, knowledgeable, caring instructor, Igor is the one you're looking for at HCC. With him, you will develop a well-grounded package for your study. Don't be a slacker, be responsible and he will take care of you as a father. Remember to utilize his office hour because you will get a lot from it (not only Physics).
Igor is unique teacher, teaches well, organized, and he really cares, makes physics look easy. Lets you talk to him anytime you want, really understands your problems and shows more than you can expect out of a Professor, his lectures are very fun, like I said makes the class look easy, I would definitely take him again and again. A Great Teacher.
This was an awesome class, comprehensive of most scientific categories. I hated science before this class, but after I can honestly say I LOVE IT and understand it now. Igor Glozman cares about his students and will take time for anyone who doesn't understand. Participate and do the work & you will succeed. Organized teacher, well structured class.
he is the best teacher you can have in highline. He may seems hard, but as long as you finish your job. it's impossible to fail.
I love Igor. He is the best teacher I ever had in life. He help everyone with needs. If you do good on homework or exams, he likes you. If you do bad on homework or exams, he still likes you. He help students who understands well or not well. He not only helps with physics but also philosophical problem. He is more than just aa instructor to me.
Igor is one of the most down to earth and caring person. I took his online astronomy class and let me tell you, it was so much fun and straight forward. No confusion what so ever. He's more about discussions and helping you than about you specific grade scores on assignments. Definitely recommend taking his online astronomy course! It's pretty easy
Now we all know physics is hard. Igor doesn't grade by points and scores but it is a plus for your grade. I got a 3.7 and i barely passed midterm and final. Just strive and show effort. you will be rewarded. Seriously...
Cant say I can reccomend this. I took the hybrid version which is two days a week. Boy do I regret it. Every week there was an online quiz ranging from 70-100 questions. eventually you just give up and guess.
Great topic, and potentially great teacher. He is very vague about what he wants in his 9 or 10 Discussion forums every week. There is a homework due every week that you get 5 chances to take, which would be great if it weren't 80 questions long! Overall, not such a great teacher. Recommend it if you can spend 20 hours per week on homework.
For students motivated to learn, this class is a gold mine. The instructor clearly cares about the development of the students and not simply about memorization and regurgitation. Everything is clearly laid out with a weekly to-do list and the instructor, unlike most other instructors, is involved in the forums much more than even the top students.
Really awesome class! If your lazy dont bother taking this class. You can easily earn an A in this class (without getting A's on the exams) but the secret is PARTICIPATE! Make a check list of weekly posting requirements and get into the subjects and do your post, do your worksheets and you will be golden. In this class EFFORT=SUCCESS.
Igor is simply one of the best teachers out there. While students typically prefer to get easy points, whether they learn something or not, he challenges them to think and discuss, which is really the only way to learn. Students in his class sometimes complain about the workload but his exercises are very reasonable and the discussions are lively.
Didn't learn anything from this class. He is funny but sometime he just make people like a fool. No lecture in class, he expect you to know everything. Presentation project is such a useless part of this class. I hadn't learn anything from those presentation. The average score of the exam and final were 50%.
I had the whole series with Igor and really learned a lot, not just about physics but how to be a better learner. He is always very helpful and encouraging. Students who just want to do the minimum sometimes complain in his class, but even these students end up developing better study and communication skills after some growing pains. Great class!
I have taken a few online classes before this one and I have never had such a bad time. The work load is a lot but his grading is the worst part about this class. You have multiple discussions that you have to keep on and aren't graded on anything so you are clueless about your grade the entire quarter. Would not recommend this class to anyone.
This was one of the best classes I've ever had and Igor is one of the best instructors out there. Although very supportive, Igor does make it clear that this is a college-level class and encourages students to develop some independence and self-motivation. Students who are used to excessive hand-holding sometimes get frustrated early on.
I had the other 2 courses in the series somewhere else and Igor's course was definitely a lot more educational. His course is tough but he is always encouraging and does an amazing job of creating a user-friendly environment. Most importantly, you get to actually learn the material rather than just memorize formulas. The labs were a blast too.
Igor's course was much more interactive than any other course I have had and I learned more than I expected. He does a great job motivating students and pushing them out of their comfort zones. I also loved his somewhat unusual grading rubric, which encourages maturity and consistency and puts students completely in charge of their destiny. Thanks!
He's a really easy teacher but he doesn't give grades, and you basically choose your own grade which sounds awesome but for me it wasn't because I want to know how I'm doing and not just guess or hope for the best. You won't really know what grade you have until it's too late to drop the class. Majority of grade is from class discussions.
This class was a lot harder than I expected but I really learned a lot. Participation and discussion were a huge part of the class and it forced me to come out of my shell. In the end, I felt good about learning and contributing and just being part of a community. Igor cares about his students and I will miss his energy and inspiring quotes.
I had physics 201 and 202 with Igor and I just loved his style. He is easy-going and his lectures are never boring. He focusses on the big ideas, discourages memorization, and always tries to get everyone involved. Physics is not the easiest subject but Igor is really good at breaking it down for everyone. Presentations and labs were really cool.
Dr. Glozman has a unique way of assigning grades. Participation really matters and there are weekly articles and journals. He likes to hit the main points and then do problems in class right after. There were only 2 tests the whole quarter and if you did the homework you will do well on them. You have to actually read the textbook. Would recommend.
Can every instructor be like Mr. G? He requires a lot of posting and a lot of reading. Your grade is based on participation. A 4.0 requires a lot of posting, but it is in no way hard. Did I mention that the class is based off of participation? Get ready to post 10-16 times throughout the week! You wont do too well if you wait till the last day!
If you like to memorize and regurgitate, this class may not be for you. Igor consistently stresses understanding and communication. Discussion is a huge part of his class. Though I felt a little overwhelmed initially, I ended up with a lot of knowledge about the Universe, about how to be a better student, and just more mature in general.
Physics is not easy but Dr. Glozman works hard to motivate students and get them involved in discussions. He really encourages independence (read the book ahead of lecture, work the problems before he covers everything) but is always very helpful and spends a lot of time on students who reach out to him. The 'family' atmosphere was great too!
The grading rubric was a little different than I'm used to but I loved it once I understood it. It really pushes you to be independent and self-motivated. Igor obviously puts a lot of time into the class and you can really get a lot out of it if you work hard and are willing to participate.
Physics is not really my strength but Igor's enthusiasm and dedication to his students really inspired me to try my best. His lectures are never boring and I found myself asking and answering questions in class much more than I normally do. Labs and presentations were fun and gave us an opportunity to explore and be a bit more independent.
Your grade in astr100 entirely relies on how often you participate in forums. If you procrastinate or cant put a good 1-2 hours into this class everyday, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. If you are motivated, and are responsible enough to post in the class everyday, you will do fine. This is literally the greatest class you will take if you put the time in.
This class gave me the opportunity to show what I have learned through discussion, and not just on exams, which always make me nervous. The prof is very responsive and super involved in the class. If you're at all interested in learning some science and getting to know the sky a little better, you will probably enjoy this class.
I worked super hard in this class and was often frustrated. Fortunately, Dr. Glozman was always there to help, although sometimes it was a little hard to break through the crowd during office hours. There is a lot of problem solving in class and he often picks on students to explain the problems. Overall, a great college experience.
I'm not really a science person and this course was very intimidating at first. But once I got the hang of the routine, I surprised myself with how much I was learning. Igor always encourages students to do their best and is very responsive. Be prepared to read a lot, get involved in discussions, and do some serious stargazing. Tough but fun!
He literally lays out everything you need to do every week, so it's very clear. His tests are not terribly easy but if you read the chapters you'll do fine. The class isn't based off of scores, but participation. Participation and posting is key! Expect to post 10+ times a week. I really liked how he laid out the class &it was a really fun subject.
If you're majoring in physics, then I won't recommend taking his physics. Even though it's a face to face class, but it's even worse than online to online. You have to do self-study a lot. In the lectures, he just go over two or three examples and expects you to complete the homework without having the knowledge of the theory. AVOID HIM!!
Before taking physics with Igor, I thought I was just not good at physics. But his approach is very different from what I saw in other classes. He teaches students to think and to see connections rather than just memorize and get bogged down in details. He also stresses communication skills more than any of my other instructors. Great instructor!
He's an amazing Astronomy teacher and lays out the work you need to do very clearly. Highly suggest him to anyone whose taking Astronomy or Physics.
I came into this class just to fulfill a science requirement but left with a passion for astronomy and a greater appreciation of science. Participation and discussion are a huge part of the class, and Igor works hard to motivate and challenge the students. It took me a while to get used to his approach, but I really learned a lot in the end.
I had the whole physics series with Igor. His classes are not easy but he really explains well and is always available to help outside of class. He is big on 'learning community' and 'communication skills', so be prepared to participate. I worked hard but had lots of fun and enjoyed spending time with my physics 'family'. Great memories!
He teaches physics well enough. Read from the book each week and participate in class doing example problems, then go to Webassign and do their mostly-related problems as homework. He rigged grading by trying to get everybody in a 50% range and applying a curve, which makes it relative to the students and makes subjective boosting real easy.
Physics is not easy but Professor Igor always focuses on the 'big picture' and teaches you to think so you don't get stuck on the details. He is always encouraging and often very entertaining. Hw can be tough, but there is no penalty for retrying and he gives lots of examples in class and is very helpful outside of class if you need something.
I took this class because I needed the credits and I regretted it later since you have to write A LOT of posts and read a lot of stuff. Makes you feel like you are majoring in astronomy. Way too much work for astronomy 100 class.
This class was probably the worst class i ever took. And it is all because of Igor. You have no idea what your grade is until the end of the quarter. He is so unorganized i just hated this class. He dosen't know how to grade, he says he grades you on how he feels like grading you. It is basically impossible to get above a 3.5.
I really hard to work hard in this class, but I learned a lot and it was fun. The grade calculator was a very useful tool to estimate your grade and keep you on track. The exams were not easy but everything is graded on a curve, plus you can make up some points in other areas (labs, presentations, etc.) if you're willing to put in the effort.
There is a lot of reading and posting in this class but it's worth it if your goal is to learn. I was somehow forced to communicate more than I normally do and be more self-motivated than I normally am. Astronomy is a cool subject and Igor makes it even more interesting. The class was not exactly what I expected, but I was not disappointed.
Not taught in-class; book chapters to read are barely hinted at and course structure is out of order (e.g. circular motion before rotational kinematics). I passed with 18% on final, but only because I religiously did weekly articles. Graded almost solely on participation, and on a curve. I switched teachers and it's much better now.
This was probably my toughest class but also my favorite. I actually learned to solve problems and not just memorize equations. Igor is very entertaining in class and super helpful and supportive outside of class. I'm normally not a huge fan of presentations, but I did find it a good learning experience in this class. Great class overall!
The biggest thing I learned in this class was how to think about the problems because Igor always breaks the problems down and asks students to tell him about the 'big picture'. He also creates a very interactive environment, encouraging group work and learning from peers. As a bonus, I learned to talk more in class and became more of a leader.
Igor really encourages learning from each other and exchanging ideas. Time management and discipline can be challenging but I really made a lot of progress in these areas. The grading rubric was a great motivational tool. I have now graduated from the class but I think I will be stargazing forever. If you want to learn, this is the class for you.
Mr. Glozman is a great teacher. His class is set up very differently then a normal class, he grades on participation. I really liked this set up because I am not good at test. If you don't like to be active and participate in class I would not take this class. I have learned so much in this class and really enjoyed it.
The grade in this class is largely based on participation and not actually learning science, you know . . . the actual class subject. So many discussion boards, you have to post six things per week in addition to a 60-100 question quiz (yes, every week). If you like science, this is not the class for you.
For me, this was a challenging class because the material was mostly new. But I learned a lot and also opened up much more in this online setting than I ever did in person. Being able to exchange ideas with peers is really a great learning tool and also creates a friendly environment. Fun class and great teacher!
I was a little nervous to do an online class because I'm not good at self-pacing but because of the consistent routine in this class, I was able to participate and reflect on my own work and become much better at independent learning. The book was fun to read and the professor always responded quickly to any questions or concerns.
The content and assignments were easy but the way the class was set up online was unorganized. During the whole quarter, there was no clear grading system. You basically grade yourself on how well you think you're doing . Loads of different assignments weekly. Expects you to participation in a lot of discussions every other day.
Although I learned a lot about space and astronomy in this class, we also touched on many other topics, such as global warming, biology, technology, movies, etc. I found the grading rubric very helpful to my learning experience, although some students did not like it because they are used to adding up points. Fun class and great instructor!
This class was so much more interactive than anything I was used to. I normally don't even get into deep discussions but I did in this class. You do need to read some but the book was great and Prof Glozman was always there to answer any questions. And he always responded very quickly. Really learned a lot and still stargazing. Big thumbs up!
I took the first physics at a different school and I really liked Igor's class much better. It's a very tough class but Igor creates a fun environment and is able to both push and support you. He is big on big picture, communication, and participation. Grading confused me initially but I loved it once I figured out the grade calculator.
This is the most unorganized instructor I have had in the past two years. I took the online class and there are a few discussion boards for students to keep re-entering what they learned. this makes it impossible to keep track of. The worst part is the surprise grade at the end of the quarter, you don't get what is posted on canvas. bad experience.
I love Professor Glozmans way of teaching. This was the first physics class I have ever taken and Im going to take him again for PHYS201 in the winter quarter. If I had another professor for this class, Im not sure I would have done well. His grading is based on a balance of intellectual ability + participation + social skills. I got a 4.0 GPA.
I'm normally not into science that much but really enjoyed this class and got more involved than I normally do. Participation is huge! Grading is very generous for those who participate, even if the exam scores are low. Professor posts many discussion prompts and gets involved to liven things up. Grading rubric and to-do list were very helpful.
Heavy on discussion and participation. Grading rubric a bit unusual, but I really loved it because you are graded on an overall pattern, without getting dinged for every little mistake. Quiz questions can be tricky but there is no penalty for imperfect scores and you can discuss them with peers. Great learning environment, with very quick response.
Tough class but always a fun environment. Lots of example problems and discussion. Be prepared to respond. He loves making sure you paying attention. Labs and presentations were great. Tests were rough but fair. Professor Igor is a great guy, always encouraging and available for students. Very disappointed that I could not take phy203 with him.
Exams were challenging but fair, pretty much like the hw. I was not expecting so much emphasis on communication in a physics class, but thought it was very helpful. I definitely improved my presentation skills. Labs were a good mix of hands-on and analysis. Got better at Excel and graphs. Professor made the class fun and was always helpful.
The class is somewhat heavy on reading but the book is great and the lecture notes are helpful. Lots of discussions and Q&A. The prof is very knowledgeable and responds to questions quickly. Simple to-do list for all the assignments. Lot of cool science in the articles. If you stay active with your posts, you should be able to get a good grade.
For me, physics was very hard and I thought about quitting a couple of times. But Professor Igor kept encouraging me and was very understanding. He spent a lot of time listening to my problems, inside and outside of school, and patiently pushed me through. Class itself was always fun and interactive. Helpful examples in lecture and fun labs.
Ngl very tough class. Had to work my butt off. Loved Igor's sense of humor in class. Made the brain pain of learning physics worth it. Lots of examples in class and he really tries to get everyone involved. Multiple submissions on the hw with no penalty. Wasn't initially a fan of presentations and articles but learned a lot from them. Great class!
Pretty intense for an online course, but the assignments (articles, stargazing, quizzes) were very reasonable and helped me improve my time management skills. Igor was always very involved, responsive, and encouraging. Lots of fun topics to explore. Self-evaluation and heavy participation forced me out of my comfort zone but in a good way.
I did not like the format of the online class at all, I felt like it was super unorganized. If you take this class I hope you like surprises because you will not know your grade until the end. I wouldn't recommend this class to my friends.
Absolutely blown away by how much I learned in this class. Didn't realize how much astronomy is related to so many other areas of science. Prof Igor is very encouraging and has a great sense of humor. Consistent weekly routine, with lots of opportunities to participate. The self-evaluation exercise very helpful for focus and time management.
Amazing class, especially if you're willing to get involved in discussions. Although topics change, routine is roughly the same every week, so it should be easy to find your groove. I learned a lot about the universe, and science in general, and improved my communication skills. Loved the book and professor is really nice.
Great class overall for the amount of cool stuff you can learn but one of my favorite parts was the grading system. You're basically graded on meaningful participation (defined by a rubric) and not so much on memorizing and regurgitating. I was able to focus on learning and was not preoccupied with constantly losing points for something random.
Wasn't all that interested in science until this class. Prof Glozman gives you the freedom to explore different science topics, even beyond astronomy. Clear to-do list and you're graded mostly on a pattern of participation rather than adding up points. A little different but I loved it. Discussions are great. Learned a lot from everybody.
Loved this class. Prof Igor always encouraging and teaches you to think instead of just memorize formulas. Class always fun and students always laughing. Exams are tough but you don't need to get perfect scores if you participate (discussion, articles, lab, etc.). Need to work hard, but lots of examples in class and very helpful office hours.
I've always struggled with science but Igor made it fun/educational and gave us opportunities to explore different topics and discuss them. Course structure is consistent week to week and participation is an important part of the grade. Those who only want to take quizzes/exams and remain invisible might find this class out of their comfort zone.
Worked my buns off but it was worth it. Knew nothing about astronomy when I started the class and now I feel the whole world opened up for me. I also improved my time management skills and became more disciplined. Great discussions. Learned a lot from the Professor and from other students. One of the best classes I've had in college.
The class was always very lively and interactive, certainly never boring. Igor likes to jump into a problem and ask what tools are needed to solve it. This is a bit different from the usual approach (theory to example) but it grew on me and I started thinking 'like a physicist'. He does like to call on students, so it helps to be prepared.
Probably the toughest class I've ever had, but Igor was very supportive and always available outside of class. Even though Coronavirus forced everyone online, the virtual labs were surprisingly quite fun and helpful. I picked up some useful Excel/graphing skills. Presentations were also interesting. Will miss Igor and all the 'physicists'. Tx!
Hands down, the best class I've had in college. If you're not into science, you might be after this class. You get to explore different topics and then share your ideas with the class. Book was colorful and easy to ready. Professor was friendly and knowledgeable. Great discussions. Eval system for grading is different but pushes you to improve.
No clear due dates. None of the homework says how many points it's worth. None of the assignments are marked, so they don't show up in the calendar. The syllabus is dated. Modules start in the middle of a week. Nothing is organized. Trust me, save yourself some stress and do not take his class.
I had a very slow start but Prof Igor was very encouraging and gave me opportunities to catch up. The grading system is very generous as long as you make an effort to participate and contribute to discussions. My time management skills definitely improved and I became more confident sharing my opinion with peers. It was a fun learning experience.
Astronomy is cool to start with, but my favorite part was feeling like I was part of a community of peers willing to discuss various topics 24/7. Everyone seemed helpful and Igor was always very responsive. There are chapter quizzes and a couple of exams, but the grade is completely in your hands if you're willing to participate. Enjoyed it!!!
Although there were a lot of topics, there was no need to memorize anything. Igor always stresses big ideas, basic research, and discussion. Exams were based on the hw quizzes and emphasis was always on participation. The grade calculator was very helpful to stay on track and grading is mostly on completion. Fun, low stress, and lots of learning.
I've always struggled with science but Igor made the class more about exposure, thinking, and discussion than about memorization of meaningless details. Grading was a bit different, based on a poor-good-excellent scale rather than on point arithmetic. This seemed strange at first but I actually ended up working harder and being less stressed. 3/3!
I had some trouble staying focused during the pandemic but Professor Glozman was always very understanding and encouraging. There is something for everyone--science articles, stargazing, general discussion. I learned a lot of science and it was fun. Participation is a big part of the grade, which forces you to be active. Great class!!!
I took Prof. Igor's class about a year ago and appreciate it even more now that I'm at the U. Physics is very challenging but he made the class environment feel like a family with his sense of humor and effort to get everyone involved. His 'reason, don't memorize' approach was great. He was also very generous with his time outside of class.
I had some personal issues when taking the class, but Igor was very understanding and helped me push through. The class itself is heavy on discussion and participation and you get the freedom to explore many topics. Exams are not easy but do not drag the grade down too much, as long as you work hard and contribute. Great college experience!
I don't normally get excited about science classes, but I ended up loving this class and actually feel a lot more confident about science now that it's over. Calendar has all the assignments and due dates. Igor is very friendly and responsive, gives great tips, asks challenging questions, and is always very involved. Zoom was also fun for q&a/OH.
I wish I had more time to devote to the class, but the pandemic made things very difficult for me. Igor was super understanding though and let me make some of the work with a project. Lots of fun discussions, amazing community, cool topics. If you don't like science, you might change your mind after this class. Grading was very fair.
Physics can be tough but prof igor was great. He always tries hard to get everyone involved, responds very quickly to email or in forum, and spends a lot of time with you if you reach out for help. His good sense of humor also helps. The book was so-so but it was free (OpenStax). Lots of good practice on webassign and the prof gave some nice vids.
Pro. Igor is very unprofessional & condescending. Idk where these reviews came from but believe me, he gives an UNREASONABLE amount of work, his quizzes are more like mid-terms, his modules are disorganized, he calls procrastinators losers & he explicitly conveyed he thinks your a baby if you have excuses. I highly advise you NOT to take his class
My friends recommended this class and I'm glad I listened. It has an easy to follow weekly to-do list and I loved the freedom to explore various topics and engage in lots of fun discussions. Professor Igor always responded very quickly and I was able to zoom with him whenever I needed help with anything. Amazing sense of community! Will miss it.
Professor Igor was always involved and supportive and I really appreciated the emphasis on participation and big picture rather than tedious details and memorization. The course layout was pretty simple--same to-do list and due date every week. Stargazing and articles were really fun and I found the journals to be good therapy.
Physics was very tough ngl. My head was spinning after a while. But the examples in class were very helpful and Igor was nice enough to spend a lot of time with me on zoom outside of class. I loved that we had multiple submissions on the hw and exams. He also let us correct some assignments to improve our grade. Journals were great for venting.
Covid made things tough on my mental health but I really enjoyed the amazing community in this class. Everyone was helpful and shared interesting stuff in various discussions. Loved being a part of this family. Igor is a great communicator and pushes students to think. Many topics required some research, but it was super fun. I'm still stargazing!
I thought about dropping this class because it was so much harder than what I remembered from high school, but Prof. Igor was very encouraging and spent lots of time with me on zoom so I pushed through. Glad I did. I learned a lot and picked up some more confidence in physics. Overall, good energy, friendly and fun environment, and great teacher.
This is one of the most arduous classes I've ever taken at Highline. But the professor is very energetic, encourages and a solid, good teacher to get you over Physics. Although he will give a lot of stuff outside class materials like writing journals and articles or group projects (this is up to your group members), he's very chill at grading.
If you like science and discussions, this class may be for you. The exams are a little tricky but the grading is generous. Consistent routine, including articles, journals, and a fun stargazing assignment. Igor is very encouraging and super responsive, often within minutes. He loves asking questions, so be ready to do some research. Fun ride!
Physics is pretty challenging but I really loved getting better at problem solving. Labs were virtual due to Covid but they were fun. Igor was good about letting you rewrite reports after some feedback to get full credit. He is friendly and funny and will spend a lot of time with you outside of class if you need it. Not easy, but great experience.
The class is heavy on participation, so you do need to be active. I struggled in the beginning with my social anxiety but after a lot of encouragement from Igor I actually started enjoying getting involved in discussions. If you're consistent with your posts, you'll get a good grade, even if your exam scores are a bit low. Great class overall!
Igor is by far one of the best teachers I have met in my life. Igor has taught me all series of Physics. He is also a great mentor and a friend from my time at Highline. I am a very successful and highly placed Engineer today. I truly credit Igor for everything. Its because of him I was able to earn several degrees. I am grateful to him.
Gives wayy too much work to cover simple concepts. First few weeks were fine until the quizzes didn't even have answers from the textbook and instead my answers came from google.
I hope you don't have more than 1 other class, and that's one's easy. It's a ridiculous amount of work for a 100 level astrology class
This is a crazy amount of work for a 100 level class. The tests don't have due dates or time limits, but they have an astronomical amount of questions. Good luck if you're already taking other classes with a lot of work being added with this class.
The class was great and Mr. Glozman is a very caring teacher. He always responded quickly to email and even spent several hours on zoom with me when I needed help. The weekly routine is very straightforward--read book/notes, practice questions, forum posts/discussions. Lots of fun science and you will improve your study habits/communication skills.
I never had physics before so this class was very challenging, but Igor was always available to help and his sense of humor was a big bonus. If you're used to memorization, this class will teach you a new way of thinking and problem solving. It may not be easy, but it will be rewarding if you work hard and push yourself, as he likes to say.
Challenging subject (for me), but the professor is funny and motivational. Lots of emphasis on participation, makes everyone be involved and helpful to each other. The class moves pretty quick so ask questions and go to office hours. Weekly assignments include doing a journal entry and finding an article. Homeworks are due every two weeks.
I'm used to being graded mostly on exams, so it was an adjustment for me to be graded mostly on participation. No long essays. Just some basic posts and discussions on various topics related to astronomy and even other science. Lots of practice questions and a predictable weekly routine. Prof Glozman is also very supportive and responds super fast.
This was by far the best class I've had at Highline. Igor and everybody else in class were super helpful and I had fun time learning all kinds of crazy science and getting into some wild discussions. I'm a pretty bad test taker, but fortunately that was less important than participation, which I eventually figured out. Big thumbs up from me!
get ready to write several discussion posts every single week. the grading criteria are laid out very clear and are explained well. once you get into the habit of doing the homework every single week it gets easier. most of the quizzes are on Quizlet. and as long as you do everything on the to-do list each week and get you'll do good.
Grading material is SO vague. If you have to take this class, you can get through it but it is very stressful because you never know if you're doing enough. Be ready to make discussion posts GALORE. If you can be at the beck and call of this class every single day you'll be fine. If you have work and other responsibilities, good luck.
When I say there's a lot of meaning, I mean A LOT. Everything quiz and test related is based on the textbook readings. Weekly discussion posts based on articles, stargazing, and general discussion. Show passion in the class.
I learned a lot and appreciated the simple approach to let students explore lots of interesting science topics. The straightforward to-do list guides you to grind through weekly practice questions and to participate in various forums. The book is actually fun reading and the lecture notes are excellent. Mr. Igor is very responsive and supportive.
This class is heavy on participation, so you do need to stay consistently active. Topics are fun and discussions are great. I have some social anxiety but thanks to Prof Glozman's encouragement, I was able to break out of my shell and actually enjoyed the discussions. If you ever need help with anything, Prof is always available when you reach out.
Ngl, physics is not easy, but Mr. Glozman did a great job explaining topics with lots of examples in class. He always brought good energy and made things fun. Whenever I needed extra help, he was always available outside of class. I also found my classmates very helpful and really enjoyed the sense of community. Despite the struggles, great class!
Professor Glozman made this class so fun despite the heavy reading load. Professor Glozman is readily available and supportive of all students. He is also diplomatic in responding to tangential and potentially mis-guided answers to course-related questions. If you are interested in learning in a fun and realistic way, Professor Glozman is great!
I'm not really that strong in science, but I learned much more than I could have imagined. After this class I'm much more aware of a lot of things around me, esp in the world of science. Lots of fun discussions to get everyone involved and Prof Igor was always super helpful and spent a lot of time with me on zoom whenever I had any questions.
I have taken Phys 139-202 with Mr. Glozman and he's the best teacher I have ever had. Physics can be a pain but Mr. Glozman makes the class fun and enjoyable. Very flexible office hours that has helped me pass the class. Very supportive class, had fun conversations with him outside of class too. Take Mr. Glozman before he retires.
I had Igor for an introductory Astronomy class and it was awful. The only thing that matters is pointless participation, I got an A in the class and did not learn a thing. There are about 4 participation assignments per week plus a test with anywhere from 60 to 90 questions. So much busy work. This class is not worth the effort.
I took this class recently and recommended it to my friends, and they pretty much have had the same experience. The class is heavy on participation and you learn a lot, esp if you get involved in discussions. Exams are not weighed heavily and Igor is very helpful if you reach out. Lightning fast response to email. Lots of fun science. Great class!
DO NOT TAKE HIM. It's all discussion posts and I did not learn a thing in this class. There are quizzes once a week with up to about 70 questions
Physics is tough so it took me a while to figure things out but Igor was super helpful and always made himself available whenever I needed help outside of class. Very fast in responding to email. Uses webassign for hw and a free online textbook and videos to supplement lecture. Always encouraging and made class fun. Optional presentations for EC.
If you want to get some exposure to science, this is a great class. Weekly to-do lists, which include science articles, stargazing observations, journals, and fun discussions. The quizzes can feel a little long but they are not timed and are actually good practice for the exams. Igor is super friendly and supportive, and I loved the community.
Great class! Mr. Igor is friendly and creates a fun learning environment. You will learn a ton of science. A bit heavy on reading, but the book/lecture notes are quite good. The quizzes are untimed and good practice of the concepts. The weekly to-do list with links to all the assignments makes the routine easy to get the hang of.
Professor is nice enough, but a bit unorthodox. The overall grade is heavily weighted toward aimless discussions that contribute little to the actual learning process, and he seems contemptuous towards studious people who do well on exams but are not social butterflies.
Overall, good experience. Every week you have required quiz and optional test for extra credit. You need to be accountable for yourself in completing 2 discussion posts on stargazing with 2 peer replies, 2 general discussion posts about any topic, a post about any science article with 2 replies, and 2 journals to the teacher about how you are doing
This class really inspired me. It wasn't easy but I picked up some good problem solving skills. I normally don't talk in class but somehow found my voice after a while because Igor was always encouraging and made things fun. He responds quickly to email and was always available to help, even at odd hours. Great class, great experience!
Science is not normally my thing but the class was full of interesting discussions and the material is reasonable if you stay on top of it. The exams were a little tricky but you get some extra credit for doing practice questions. The weekly to-do list was very helpful and Professor Igor was always friendly and available to answer questions.
I really enjoyed taking this class! I always felt like I could reach out if needed. Instructor is very clear on what he wants, there isn't a gray area of will I or wont I pass. It was one of my easier classes in a quarter where I was taking 5+ classes. Overall good class! Learned a lot. Would take again.
Prof Glozman is very understanding if you put in the work. Class was full of interesting discussions. As long as you stay engaged and participate, you will do just fine. He is super responsive and happy to answer questions outside of class. I'm not a big science person but I really enjoyed this class and would take again.
Igor grades off of a curve which is an immediate plus. But this class was insanely hard so that's why he grades based on curves. There are these discussions that will shoot up your grade by a huge margin. He was also a really funny and nice person since he comforted a lot of people who were scared about failing because of how hard the class was.
he don say my name :(
The class was challenging, but Igor always had good energy and maintained a fun and friendly class atmosphere. He was also very helpful outside of class if you reach out. Labs were lots of fun and he lets you resubmit with corrections. I believe I'm moving on to the next course with better problem-solving skills. Solid teacher and super nice guy!
I had some personal issues distracting me from school and prof Igor was a lifesaver. He reached out to me and helped me get back on track and even let me make up some of the missed work with an extra credit project. The class itself is very interesting, esp if you're into science. Discussion and participation are huge, so be ready to get involved.
I've had Igor for 139 but still feel bad with my performance in it before now taking his 201 class because of how nice and helpful he is to help you succeed. Physics is hard, but the curved grades, friendly environment, extra time, and his office hours and fast email responses. Probably the best or one of the best professors at Highline.
Prof. Glozman, really ensures that you really take a deep dive and truly understand the curriculum. But he also assigns extra weekly tasks such as articles, stargazing, and journaling. This can be stressful at first but once you get a set schedule which 100% recommended then this class is a breeze! He's pretty understanding, and interactive!
This class is easy to pass as long as you participate, especially since exams are curved. If you actually want to learn and continue physics, this isn't the best class set-up. Lectures go over practice problems that are unrelated to those on homework and exams. Participation is the best indicator of your grade, not whether you've learned anything.
Even though I had a very busy schedule and fell behind at times, I really enjoyed the course. Prof Igor was always very supportive and helpful in and out of class. Lots of examples in class, relaxed environment, and fun discussions. I wish I spoke up a little more to ask or answer questions, but I still learned a lot from what others had to say.
I thought 202 was harder than 201 but the material (like circuits) was also more interesting. Igor goes over a lot of examples in class and gives you many opportunities to practice and ask questions. He is very friendly and entertaining in class, and very helpful outside of class. Labs were sometimes a little confusing but always fun. Great class!
Easy grader and very flexible, but expects students to learn mostly on their own. Explanations were unclear and he read directly from the slides. I didn't learn anything or retain anything after the final.
Not an easy class, especially the hw, but Igor was always helpful and supportive. His lectures were fun and he always tried to get the class involved. He was very generous with his time during office hours and I wish I could have visited more often. Make to reach out when you need help. I'm at UW now and feel I got a solid prep in Igor's classes.
Professor Glozman's ASTR100 class is engaging but demands consistent effort. The workload is manageable with a good study routine. Unstuck study was a lifesaver for me - it helped me stay on top of the material.
I took the asynchronous class which isn't for everyone. You have to be consistent with the weekly work and participate in discussions. Every week you have to read the respective chapter, and a few lecture notes and then take the quiz for comprehension. For my grade, because I did pretty poorly on the mid-term and final- it got knocked down to a B.
I had a very slow start and was not used to the heavy participation required in this class. But once Igor walked me through the routine (read, quiz, post) and encouraged me to have a voice, I started having a lot of fun learning and sharing. Not only did I enjoy learning fun science, I also picked up some confidence expressing my opinion.
Not an easy class, even though much of it is review from the prereq. Lot of examples in class in a fun, friendly environment. Make sure to read ahead and work on the hw early or you might get overwhelmed. Igor is super friendly and always goes the extra mile when you need help. I was a bit reluctant to speak up in class but office hours saved me.
Before taking this class, I was not really a science person and not a big fan of online classes, but I really enjoyed this class. Igor gives you a chance to explore various science topics, even beyond astronomy, and the discussions can be quite fun. He always responds very quickly and is always encouraging. One of the best classes I've taken.
I took the whole series with Igor and it was a love-hate relationship, but mostly love. Igor is the best—funny, explains well, supportive—but physics can be torture. Fortunately, there is always help from teacher and peers and you do surprisingly get used to it. Overall, it was challenging but also very good prep for UW. Fond memories for sure.
The class is not difficult but you have to stay consistent. Igor has a straightforward weekly to-do list but I somehow kept forgetting to submit things in the beginning, maybe due to long hours at work. But Igor is very udersttanding and after a couple of zoom meetings with him, I figured things out. Friendly environment and fun learning!
I really had to work for it, but I always looked forward to class. Mr. Igor works a lot of examples and always makes it fun. He tries really hard to get students to participate and is very helpful during office hours. Two practice exams, two real exams, online hw, lab, and regular writing assignments (journals, article, etc.). Great learning exp!
