Awesome man, awesome class, can't go wrong with Tomic
Can't ask for more...easy take him...
he is a great person very helpful, caring and willing to help. his test are pretty easy as long as u study what he tells u to besically there are no suprises on it. so i would defintley recomend him.
GREAT GUY, GREAT TEACHER...MAKES THINGS SIMPLE TO UNDERSTAND. LETS YOU OUT OF CLASS EARLY TOO. TOP 10 PROFESSOR AT SJU!
he is a great teacher. he shows a lot of concern for his students. he wants to see you pass the class and makes sure that you understand the lesson and that you are comfortable with it.he gives good and understandable notes and his tests are easy.
Cool guy! Makes things simple and easy to understand. Very helpful if you don't understand the material. Exams are easy if you read the notes he gives you(which pratically tells you whats on the test). Highly recommended.
take him he is the man, makes your life simple and liveable. Just study his notes from Powerpoint and u will get an A. Very cool dude and extremely flexible. Always happy to lend a hand. Very smart guy. NICE MAN.
GREAT PROFESSOR! Very intelligent and very easy to understand. Test are not bad you will love his class. Always has an answer for all the questions.
EASYYYYYYYY. I failed the first test and skipped the second test. Did good on the finals and finished with a B. His teaching is pretty good. Id recommend him.
Fun loveable guy. Wants his students to succeed. Outstanding knowledge of the material. Has experience in the financial field. It would be a mistake not to take him.
Very nice man. Wants you to succeed. Extremely helpful. REcommended. 2 midterms and a final. HOmework extra credit. :))
real nice guy... tests r easy he wants u to do good and is funny
Fantastic professor. Such a nice guy that brings a light hearted atmosphere to the class. Slight studying for tests (depends on who you are). You can get an A just by doing well on the final. Backed by popular demand. Overall, MUST HAVE PROFESSOR.
He has a high standard on term paper grammar. If you are not a native speaker, your bad term paper score will lead to a bad final grade.
extremely nice man. Very easy class, he tests right from the notes. His lectures are boring but overall an easy A.
gives you the questions and is a great teacher. HE is also very nice. DEFINITELY TAKE HIM.
he is the man! you rock prof. tomic!
very boring class. felt like i was back in high school calculas class for the first part of semeser
Great prof. class is a little boring, but easy. He cares about his students and wants them to do well. Tests are based on notes. Overall an easy class
This class was not very difficut, but not that easy either. Tomic is a pretty good professor and I would take him again. His textbook needs to be edited more properly lots of grammatical errors.
this was the most boring class i ever took. teacher looks very unapproachable. chapters seem short (so book seems fine) but tests aren't easy. dont take this class if you dont like economics. i thought he would be easy, but he's not. i only got a C+, and im an A- student. i hated this class so much!
This class is not that bad.Only complaint is that Tomic puts questions on the test differently than what we go over in class. This can make the tests difficult. He does give two extra credit opportunitiesIf you are absent 1 time or less then you get extra credit-pretty nice.I would take again Got an A
Prof. Tomic's textbook was very simple to read and study from. This made the subject matter very easy to understand. However, his two exams are cumulative and weighted heavily. Also, he makes the exams extremely tricky and unclear. This resulted in many people receiving grades lower than planned.
he is tricky, class makes you wanna sleep but if you copy his powerpoint slides and memorize them you should do decently(i got an A)grades are given a curve so that helps too, and if you do better on the next test he gets rid of the previous...over all...take him, he may not be the best, but he's ok
He's not an easy A!U have to memorize his powerpoint notes, there r 2 tests, which the lowest grade gets droped&a final.By not being absent xtra credit is given which BOOSTS up your grade. No point to buying the txtbk never used it!T/F & multiple choice tests which r tricky. He's a nice guy but a bore
Great professor Really cares you get 3 exams he drops the lowest grade all exams are cumalative Don't need to take notes blc you could print them from powerpoint got an A and wasn't expecting it he's just great. Might require a little bit of studying on your end but it pays off Nice sense of humor
Awesome professor! Gives 3 exams and drops the lowest grade. If u fail the first 2 tests, and pass the final with an A, he'll give u an A in his class. Very caring 4 students progress. Gives extra credit 4 homework and 4 having perfect attendance.U cant go wrong with this prof!
Tomic is one of the few good economics professors out there. PowerPoint notes are very clear and he explains the material very well. Tests are tricky though, requires some studying, but it’s worth the effort. Boring class but lets us out 30 min early every class. A on final=A for class, take him!
Awsome Prof. Is one of the best at the University. He cares alot about your progress. Exams are not easy but fair. Work and study and you will get an A. READ THE BOOK IT HELPS!!!
He's an awesome professor. I was failing his class, but he said if you get a good grade on your final then thats your final grade. I ended up with a B+. Very helpful, good powerpoint presentations. Xtra points for going to class
Best Eco prof ever. Easy A! Tests straight from his notes. His hw are easy. Give u extra points for putting them on the board. Drops first grade if you do better on the second one. He is very nice and funny at times.
wowwww brooo, very cool class. Its not one of those classes you can completely slack off it, but with a little effort anyone can get an A. dont need to buy the book, just listen to what he says and try to remember it or jut down a few notes and you'll know everything thats on the tests. 3 tests, no assignements.

Prof. Tomic is affable, friendly and sociable. However, he is not the greatest mind on the economics faculty. His Managerial Economics course is quite mathematical, so brush up on your differential calculus skills. This is a course where self-study is neccessary to do well. He will not candy coat and mouth feed answers to questions so study up!
He is really nice and friendly. One time he saw me talkin with a friend outside of the library and came up to me givin me advices and to really do better on my final so I can still get an A!! Very easy and he does care for his students! TAKE HIM!!! Ask my friend that dont need to take Economics, he is so helpful and friendly!!
I love Tomic! He's soo nice. He has powerpoint presentations and sends them to everyones email so you dont have to copy anything down! and they are good to study from. He gives no homework and his tests aren't bad. Going to class does help your grade and if you don't understand he will help you. He has a cute accent
Great Guy. He teaches well, but some things u need 2 read on ur own. His t/b is very simple 2 read n skim thru though. If u do bad on the midterm, he will base ur grade solely on the final. Tests r T/F & M/C, but some ?'s can b a lil tricky. No papers or projects n most of the time u get out early. I would def take again over most ECO electives.
He is the BEST!! He was sick for a few weeks, but came back (THANK GOD) & covered everything in a laid back stress-free manner. Study his notes, always review the previous exam, do the hw on the board to earn extra credit (u might not need this), u might NEVER open the book if u get his notes. His exams are from his notes not the text = easy A
He was an ok prof sometimes he can get boring though BUT hes very fair and an easy grader
took him for managerial economics and learned absolutely nothing. very WEiRD!! class. awkard teaching style. very east to get a B.
He was quite boring, but just bring your laptop to class. All powerpoint notes. I recieved a D on the Midterm. He advised me to do well on the final. He said if my final grade is higher than my actual grade he'll give me the final grade. I got an A on the final and he gave me an A for the class.
He is EXTREMELY easy. If you don't get an A in this class...ur head has to be up ur @$$ when ur there or u simply never show up. All u need is 2 get an A in the final n u get an A in the class. Very helpful. He allows u 2 luk over ur test n c where u made mistakes. Review before the test n u'll be fine. The best I tell ya...SIMPLY THE BEST!
Really easy. Dont buy the textbook never uses it assigns some homework but not mandatory to hand in. I did poorly on my first two test. Got an A on the final and Got an A in the class. Really Fair and let's you out early sometimes
He is hard... I dont know how people are rating him easy... hes really hard...
Very boring lecture. Read and explain powerpoint. Tests are straight from powerpoint. No need of textbook. No homework.
He can seem boring because he has an accent and his voice is monotone. However, he is a great guy and very helpful (if you ask for it).
Pretty hard to understand him when he speaks, but he gives you all the notes so it doesn't matter. Tests are straight from the notes. If you get an A on the final, you get an A in the class--he rewards improvement, so u could bomb the first tests and do really well on the final and get an A.
this guys the man. his tests are all out of 110 and youll get an A like i did if u study the notes which he powerpoints. hes helpful and never leaves the class in the dark. good sense of humor and cool guy too. highly recommend!!
Easy professor. Explains everything clearly and repeat himself a lot. He uses powerpoint which you can get from the school's computer. If your grade on the final is higher than your previous grade then you get the better grade.
had him for economics 1301 and 1302. slightly harder for the 2nd one. however the final is all that matters since it was my only A(most likely) and thats what i ended up with. extra credit for perfect attendence, easy project, and clear notes off powerpoint. i would recommend him for at least one of those 2 classes for sure
Not a hard class. Dr. Tomic is very clear on what he expects from his students. He gives all slides he uses (no need to buy textbook) and tests are straight from them. The most important is the final, you do good on that then all your other tests don't really matter. We also had a group project and presentation. Overall, good professor!
You do NOT need the textbook. He puts all the information on powerpoints that you can access from the professors drive. Only 4 tests and a test after with a higher grade takes the place of a lower grade. He's a bit unclear and you have to be a business major to understand him sometimes.
Prof Tomic is the man. His test are very fair, he reviews extremely well, and he is genuinely concerned about your success in his class. Will help with anything to see you do well. Text book is not needed, read powerpoint notes and you will be golden. A is very attainable. Great Guy
I agree with all the comments below. PowerPoint = easy, and I actually learned a lot from his lectures. Of course take him. Oh and his Croatian accent is fine and easily understandable.
Agree with all the comments below. PowerPoint = easy, and I actually learned a lot from his lectures. Of course take this great man. Oh and his Croatian accent is just fine and quite understandable.
Loved him! His accent isn't so hard to understand and he's really funny. He's very approachable and won't mind explaining things again if you need. You will have absolutely NO need for the text book.
The PowerPoints made the material super easy to learn. Just follow along during class and take a few additional notes. Dr. Tomic is also very willing to help so if there's anything you're unclear of, make sure you ask. Overall an enjoyable class.
Professor Tomic was very helpful and really made learning easy. At times I will admit his class got boring, but if you pay attention you'll learn. I got the textbook and it helped, but you don't need it. Tests are straight from notes! I got an A in this class, A on final = A. 4 tests, no mandatory hw, extra credit for attendance. Take him!
Class is easy yet you learn a lot and he ALWAYS let us out early, sometimes after only 30 min. Notes from power point, makes you sign only yourself in at start of class, 3 test + final. Would def recommend and take again.
One of the best professors at St.Johns.Knows a lot about economics, and is very understanding towards students. His objective is to make you learn,so even you screw up on every test and manage to get an A on the final, your final grade is an A.
Great professor! Repeats much of the material, which reinforces your knowledge in the concepts he teaches. Wants you to definitely know them. Tells you what will be on exam. Really cool guy. Do the problems as he goes along, and you'll do well.Only neg is initially, he presented material confusingly. No need 2 buy text, he's that great! Take him!
Would not recommend taking him at 730 because he is very monotone! Not a bad teacher and the tests aren't too bad.
He is a very helpful teacher and knows what he is talking about. He is always offering to answer any questions and will go out of his way to extend his office hours for people. He can also be very funny at some times. I do not advise taking his class at 7:30 because his voice sounds extremely dull.
He's a really nice guy, but his lectures get kind of repetitive and boring. Also, the wording on some of his test is odd and it takes some getting used to. If you need help he's always available. No mandatory homework except for one paper. He's a solid professor, probably the best you'll get in the econ department.
One main research paper and a group presentation. Easy quizzes, no homework. Very boring class though, especially in the morning.
Great class and teacher. Gives 3 quizzes and they are all easy if you pay attention in class. No need to take notes all of them are available online in powerpoint presentations. He also always let you out early and he will stay around for your questions and to go over your quiz.
Amazing teacher. I strongly recommend him. no need for textbook. If you study the notes you'll be fine. TAKE HIM!!!! NO REGRETS!!! Easy A if you can read.
Good professor. Three quizzes that are cumulative. They really help prepare for the final exam! Gives powerpoint notes. Tends to let you out early. I would take him again.
There are a lot of group projects, but not much work overall. Only one real essay and two exams (the midterm and final). He tells you everything you'll need on exams. Very very easy material.
Professor Tomic is awesome. He knows how to reduce a fair amount of work for student while they are still able to study a lot from a class. He is always willing to help. Final exam is most important, as it determines your overall grade, so be careful. Make sure to read his powerpoint and his previous tests to prepare for final, then you'll be fine.
Don't miss out on this class, probably one of the nicest professors around! He is very helpful, he cares about every student, he is very knowledgeable in economics, 4 Exams, All of the material for exams is on his power points. If you do well on the final, he will use that grade for the class. WARNING has a slight accent and can be monotone.
Igor is one of the nicest professors I've ever had. Aside from teaching economics, he teaches life lessons and valuable business knowledge. Plus, he lets his students out, on average, a half-an-hour early. There are a few quizzes, two of which are the midterm and final, and a 10 page (single spaced) research paper. Don't procrastinate like I did!!
a great economics professor.
Professor tomic is really passionate about economics. I really enjoyed taking his class. There are three quizzes and a final. His notes are very clear. Sometimes class can get a little boring but it is all worth it since he gives lessons for life. He normally will let the class out 30 minutes early
Professor Tomic is the sweetest and most caring professor I've had. He wants all his students to succeed so if you ever need help ask him. His powerpoints are clear, his tests and quizzes are straightforward, and he gives you plenty of time for projects. Overall, I'd definitely recommend him to anyone.
Great guy. Wants all of his students to succeed in life. His tests are pretty easy and you print out all of your notes so as long as you show up and pay attention this will be an easy class.
definitely take him! He gave 3 tests, a final, & a presentation project. Homework isn't mandatory, but you should just do it. All tests are super easy if you read the notes he gives you, & the presentation was just a chapter outline done with 1 other person & you don't need to present. only need textbook to do presentation! attendance doesnt matter
you will have to go out of your way to get a bad grade. Just show up and everything should go well.
Professor Tomic is one of the greatest professors at SJU. He is kind, and truly cares about how his students perform. Took him for both 1301 & 1302 and felt like I did learn. Keep up with the work, go to class and you will do fine.
Professor Tomic is a great professor and wants to see his students succeed. You will do great if you pay attention and study.
He's a great guy. Really cares about his students. Easy to email for questions, offers (often) to see people at office hours, will talk to you after class. Tests are based 100% on the powerpoints, and he provides them at the beginning of the school year. 10% for participation, including attendance, but it's fine if you show up occasionally.
I took him for HON1301 and HON1032. He was consistent through both semesters, and a really chill guy. Definitely cares about us as students, but respects us and our space. He is totally willing to answer questions and help out if you ask.
This class is easy and his tests and quizzes come straight from the powerpoint but they can be tricky at times. Definitely study but also definitely take this class.
Hes ok not the best by any means. His tests are extremely tricky and thats pretty much all youre graded on. His reviews on dont represent his class. Hes nice but his lectures are a drag and you dont really learn much
4 cumulative tests. no clear guideline. confusing lectures. tests are tricky. was not worth taking. worries about the old-fashioned economy and not how it has advanced.
Professor Tomic truly cares about his students and wanted us to do well. I was able to take his class for 1301 and 1302. He gives 3 exams and a final which are all from the Power Points. He is always willing to help after class or his office hours.
Professor Tomic is a great man. If you need extra help or simply want to ask him a question hes always there for you. Tests were made up straight from his PPTs and were fair. Says you need to get the textbook, but I didnt open it once and managed to do good in his class.
The course was pretty straightforward and he does a great job at thoroughly explaining the topics. He often gives you opportunities to ask questions and is usually available after class. The tests are a little tricky but if you study you'll be fine.
An A is possible just study for the quizzes (3 tests and a final). One research paper done with a partner with lots of time to get it done. His power points at very good but confusing at spots. Pay attention during lectures although it is hard to stay focused because he is very monotone and extremely slow when speaking.
Super nice guy. No work out of class (or barely). One paper with a partner, 3 tests, one final. Did not get the textbook and I made it. Tests were from the power point. Study the power point and you will do fine! Do go to class though, even though it gets boring sometimes.
Prof. Tomic was great. It says in his syllabus that you need the textbook but it's not necessary. Tests are solely based on the PowerPoints in class and are cumulative so review past material. There is a partner essay. Classes can get boring at times but he explains the material well so nobody is left behind and he's always available after class.
Professor Tomic makes an effort to ensure his students understand the material. He creates powerpoints which are accessible before class and explains each slide during lectures. There are four cumulative exams which are directly from the powerpoints and as long as you study them, youll pass. Attend class because he clearly explains all material.
dont get the textbook. test were alright, a bit hard. ask dumb questions with answers like maybe, yes, no,sometimes so can be tricky
Professor Tomic is a very sweet guy. I enjoyed having him. He is very boring though, so it a little difficult to focus. His tests are not that easy because he asks a few weird questions. If you study though, you should be fine. I would take him again.
Ok so if you are good at economics, you will survive, however, if this is a class that you struggle in DO NOT take him. Very confusing tests, and he literally reads from his powerpoints, with little explanation. Hes an amazing person, very funny and kind, however the tests are ruthless. Also he doesnt give any homework, its all extra credit.
Easy A. All four tests are mainly supply and demand based so if you pay attention for the first month, you are set for the entire semester. If you go to class and pay attention you should have no problem getting an A. Professor is also a very experienced businessman so his background makes for sometimes an interesting class lecture.
- very friendly/approachable - will meet with you outside of class - lectures can be a bit boring, but not hard to understand - gives life advice too! - 1 paper with a partner (to be worked on over course of entire semester) - 3 cumulative quizzes + final (multiple choice, reviews beforehand) - also i had him for HON1302 - overall a great teacher
Super cool professor. Good temperament, and his words are gold. Has very good practical advice, and good life experience. The class itself is manageable, an easy A so long as you listen to his lecture or just read the powerpoint notes he hands out ahead of time.
He can be a good teacher at times. However, the subject was very hard to comprehend and his lectures were not helping. He has a monotone sound everytime he talks. But, he does give extra credit for doing the homework or doing a problem in the textbook. I would recommend him but, only if you can teach yourself as well as listening to his lectures.
Prof Tomic is one of the nicest professors I've ever had. He really cares about his students and makes an effort to help us out. Boring but attendance is mandatory so you'll have to go to class. There was a research paper that was extremely annoying but he was very generous with grading. Tests can be difficult so make sure you study. Overall good!!
A lot of respect for this professor. His class can go by slow because he reviews a lot in the beginning of each class. He encourages you to ask questions and will answer them. Quizzes are cummulative, but you'll be fine. He has a monotone voice, but cares about all his students.
Igor is the sweetest. His class may be boring and go by slowly, but he loves economics and his students, especially when you go to him during office hours. The class is an easy A as long as you memorize his PowerPoints; his tests are almost exactly the PowerPoint content. Plus, he invites everyone to his home for dinner at the end of the semester!
As a person Tomic was great, but I did not personally favor him as a professor. Classes were slow- we went over the same things. Lectures had many slides.. for what I thought could definitely be taught in less slides. His test were hard!! Take this class with an equally smart friend... you can help each other.
He takes attendance and everything you need to know are in his slides so I didn't use the textbook. His lectures are very boring and he moves really slow to make sure everyone understands. He is super nice and he cares about his students. If you pay attention in class you should do fine on the quizzes. There's 4 quizzes and a final. TAKE HIM!
He's a really nice person and lets you make up a quiz if you miss it. His lectures in person can be a little of a drag because he moves at a slow pace but it's only to ensure that everyone understands. As long as you pay attention it's an easy A. Final was pretty much reusing old quiz questions.
The homework is optional and once we went online there was none. His lectures are extremely boring and his voice is monotone.
His lectures could be boring at times but he gives extra credit at the end of each class. He tests are easy if you study and are based directly off his notes the majority of the time. His notes are powerpoint slides which he posts which makes it easy to understand.
