Ike made every class fun and exciting, even early in the morning. Gives lots of tips for remembering info, SO helpful, and genuinely wants students to do well. He is a great professor. I have been research with him for almost 2 years and I love it. He is very flexible and I am allowed to work independently so I can work around my classes instead of my classes working around research. I have also had him for several classes and he is one of the best science prof. this campus has.

Ike's a great guy and he's always helpful. Always has a reason for giving you the grade he gives and is willing to explain it to it's full extent. My class does most of the work outside of class, but he's still extremely helpful and cares about his students. The material is somewhat difficult, but put the time in, you'll do fine.

Ike is the best professor at Berks, hands down. I took him over the summer for a chem lab, and he made each lab a pleasure to be in. His enthusiasm and joy are infectious. He is somewhat of an institution at Berks, so if you have the chance, be sure to take a course with him.

Ike was ridiculously insane. I first of all cheated through chem in HIGH school. Had to do chem work all week in this class, no breaks in the end got a B-. Take this guy tho if you got a chance. you get 60/60 points if you only miss one or two classes.

Organic Chemistry is hard. Ike makes it as painless and entertaining as possible. Students don't only love Ike because he's silly but because he truly wants you to succeed. I'll never forget he sent out an e-mail the night before an exam saying that we were all capable of getting an A. He didn't make the test any easier but he believed in us.

I've had him for several classes and I took organic chem previously at another school and bombed it. When I took it with him, it ended up becoming my favorite subject. He gives so much help and is sincerely concerned about student's learning. He clarifies concepts and I never felt like my grade was in jeopardy. The best prof I've ever had!

I took this class through the world campus and I was nervous that it would be hard to get in touch with the professor but Ike was always available and helpful. I am a second year student at Berks, and I took the accelerated organic 1 and 2 classes. Ike is an amazing teacher- he's funny, and he knows what he's talking about. These classes are fairly fast paced since they're only half the semester, and require a lot of out of class work, but Ike teaches in such a way that makes organic easy and fun!

Love Ike!!!!! Definitely will be taking him for my more advanced chemistry courses. Not only is he hilarious but he explains everything so thoroughly and helps along the way. Awesome professor highly recommend taking him if you can get a spot in his class!

He responds to emails very quickly. Work load is not overwhelming and the two assigned projects are fun and very helpful in the real world. Weekly quizzes online, and a midterm and final online that must be proctored. Weekly quizzes are timed and open book, you can take a few times and highest grade sticks. Highly recommend this class, very useful.

Ike is one of the funniest and most willing to help professors I have ever met. He makes you feel welcome and like you are at home. He will jump on tables and sign Taylor Swift or do the Nae Nae. Loved his class, would take again. Read the book so you get 100's on the quizzes. Discussion sheets are super easy. No tests. Go to class & participate

Dr. Shibley or actually ahem, Ike as students call him is a charismatic professor that exudes brilliance with how he connects with students of all calibers. He saved chemistry for many of the students. He also made my chemistry from high school not seem as bad as I thought it would be. Many thanks to him and may he forever be with PSU.

The one, the only, Ike Shibley. He is a wonderful, quirky professor that can make you laugh and still get the lesson taught. Chemistry, in my opinion, is a difficult class so you still need to study out of class. Ike doesn't give you the answers, but he will walk through questions. Tests are not too hard and not too easy.

Dr. Ike has truly mastered the art of teaching students. Ochem is hard but he makes it such a fun subject to learn. Dr. Ike knows how students learn best and will go out of his way to help. You will need to study outside of class but the practice exams are VERY similar to the actual exam. I always leave his class with confidence!

Ike is a great professor. He is hilarious compared to most professors. He really tries his best to get all of his students to do well and understand the material. Exams are easy, and he tells you what to study. To study, look over the slides and the practice exams. I would recommend him to everyone. Only downside is he gets off track often.

Ike rocks! Had him for summer semester which consisted of weekly quizzes, 2 exams and a final. Each exam took me no longer than 30 mins. Final took about an hour. Not much effort needed to get a good grade, is heavy on memorization at times. Be sure to review all the lecture notes as he sometimes goes through the exam and tells you whats on it

Ike is FULL of energy and personality that everyone adores, I don't know of anyone who doesn't like him. He also teaches well and is real with students, giving them a quality education while having a good time.

Ike is truly unique as an educator. I'm glad to have learned from his LIVE Online lectures with interactive polling questions and online engagement like i've never seen in an online class. If you're not getting it just ask! Organic Chemistry is a very complex class but Ike helps to show you where to focus and how to analyze the subject. A true gem!

Ike, as he prefers to be called by his students, is quite the professor. He shows up to every class with an abundance of positive energy, without fail. Not only did I enjoy my time in class, but I learned a lot as well- within and even outside of the lecture material.

Best science professor ever. Concise in his lectures with plenty of application to prep for exams. Though his course did not have hw and was quiz/exam grade heavy, he prepared you well with lectures. Any additional practice through quizzes, practice exams, etc. will give you an A. Great at answering questions too. Helps to truly understand material

I was hesitant about taking this class but OH MY GOSH, Ike is a wonder! His enthusiasm and energy really made this class 100% better. The topics that were discussed in this course was relevant to the issues we face today. There is a quiz and a discussion sheet (reading + short reflection) due each week. His lectures are great as well!

OChem is very difficult but Ike is the best professor and he truly does want you to pass. I could go on forever about Ike but in terms of taking him for chem210/212, try your best, he will see your efforts, and you will pass! If you want an A/B, you may need to try harder, memorize the reactions and do lots and lots and lots of practice problems!

I took this course a hybrid with Ike & Dr. Dunbar (BIO426/469) and I loved. I love seeing them teach together and the material is not too bad. If you study, you'll do fine. Ike gives great mnemonics for remembering the material and he is a fair grader also. He makes the class fun and there are presentations (at least when I took the class)

I love Ike! This was my hybrid FYS course freshman year and it was a very interesting course! It really did have me thinking! And Ike is a great professor: he keeps you engaged, laughing/entertained, and genuinely cares for his students! There were weekly papers (about a page) and group discussions every other week! He loves participation!

Ike really does care about his students. This was a class for 3hr once a week so the exams were pretty thick! Idk if he's keeping that format but please stay on top of the material!!!!! That was my downfall. But he is a great entertainer and professor/lecturer. He likes to have fun! The presentations were also fun to watch! He loves his students!

This was an online class and this was his first time teaching the course, so it did have its problems... but Ike is a great professor and this class just did not go as planned! Advice: stay on top of the material, study, make study guides, visit OHs, and study study study! There is a paper and project that is pretty easy/self-explanatory

Dr. Ike is the reason I love Organic Chemistry today. He always came to class full of energy and was engaging and funny. You need to be on top of things though, as this is a tough subject for most. But if you follow along, practice, and ask for help when you need it, he is more than accommodating, and wants you to succeed. One of my favorite profs.

Funny dude. Not that hard of a grader. Dr. Ike wants to have discussions with you, and he enjoys it. The quizzes are easy, and you only have to do discussion sheets. Those are the only two graded assignments.

Doctor Shibley, or Ike as he doesn't mind being called is literally one of the nicest, and most layed back professors I have ever had. He made organic chemistry into an elementary class for us by explaining things in common language. For this online class, he did not require attendance, although he was so well liked by students that many came.

Dr Shibley is the best professor I've ever had. I had a breakdown halfway through the sem and wasn't able to reach out until a month before the final. He was completely understanding and helped me through getting back on track, including finishing the course over winter break. Orgo is hard, but Ive never met a prof who has your back better than him

When I say I have never had such a great experience in chemistry.. I mean it. He is the best chem professor I have ever had. If I had to take anymore chem courses he would be my go to guy. His zoom lectures that are posted online are perfect. He truly cares about teaching and he explains the material in a perfect way so you can understand it for quizzes and exams. 100% recommend doing 1on1's before the midterm and final for an awesome refresher. The quizzes aren't terrible if you pay attention and the exams were surprisingly easy.

BEST PROFESSOR. If you want to understand and pass OChem, you take him. Lectures are straightforward and collaborative but not required to attend, but I recommend attending due to live feedback. Nicest and most caring and truly wants you to learn. Exams just like quizzes, and quizzes are opennote with multiple attempts to take. Seriously the best.

Ike Shibley is by far my favorite professor. He keeps the learner in mind, especially while teaching his LIVE lectures, and he actually cares about whether the student understands a concept, or not. If you do not understand a concept, he will approach the concept at another angle to help you understand. I would take every class he teaches. Ask Q's!

Professor Shibley teaches pretty well online by creating polls. In my class, we were given unlimited attempts for quizzes (though I am not sure about other classes), which is pretty nice. He is also lenient as long as you meet his deadlines, which only include quizzes and exams. Make sure to study for his exams via previously completed quizzes.

If you're nervous about taking organic chemistry, I suggest you take it with Dr. Shibley. He explains the concepts in a way that is easier to understand, and he'll even throw in some dad jokes that actually end up helping you remember the content (my personal favorite is the "ether bunny"). Definitely one of my favorite classes at PSU so far!

Professor is excited to teach with enthusiasm for every lecture. Paying attention to the lecture slides and taking the weekly quizzes is more than sufficient for success in any of his courses. I have taken 210, 211, 472, and a few online courses as well. Each one was absolutely incredible and I have learned and retained information from the class.

Ike is perhaps the best professor at PSU Berks when it comes to pedagogy. His pedagogical approach compensates for the comprehension-based, content-heavy Organic Chemistry. He is approachable and flexible and will work with you as long as you truly try to put the effort in. The class itself is an inverted classroom, with plenty of clicker questions

Ike was such an amazing professor. I always struggled in inorganic chemistry, but he made organic chemistry fun to learn and understandable. The amount of content taught every week was doable. He was always willing to give extra attempts on quizzes and help explain the content outside of lecture! I couldn't recommend him enough, he is awesome.

He was great. Very kind and funny and always tried to make the classes as painless as possible. He's also very cut and dry. What he asks on the lecture videos will be asked on the quiz, then whats asked on the quizzes will be asked on the midterm/final. He's an amazing professor and is perfect for a course like ochem.

Ike is the best. I can understand why he has all of these other amazing ratings. We used Smartbook, and a couple assignments were due every Wednesday. All of the assignments weren't hard, but had a lot of useful information about nutrition. Ike cares about each of his students' so much and it shows! Take him!!
