BS! He's a great professor.. Look for his rating in American University.. http://www.ratemyprofessors.com/ShowRatings.jsp?tid=518143
terrible, difficult to understand, unorganized, almost like english is a 3rd language to him, doesn't understand questions and gives answers that don't relate to the questions
very easy class.
Not a bad teacher, but pretty dull and boring. Not very passionate about his job, but if you need help, he is relatively accessible by email and office hours. If you're taking stats for a second time I recommend him as a review crash course, but probably too difficult to learn from him if it's your first go around
His english is pretty good, but that's the only reason I wouldn't give him a 5 for clarity is because his english isn't perfect. Otherwise, he's great. You can have cheat sheets on tests. Lots of homework that is mandatory, but they are online and repeatable.
good teacher if you like listening to forieners teach math...pays alot of attention to the students and is extreamly helpfull if you can keep attention
Math is inherently boring. He doesn't make stats extremely interesting, however how can you make math compelling? He is clear, concise, and helpful. Honestly, if you need to take a statistics course, you should take him. Also, people who can't understand him and stupid; he is completely understandable.
He's interested in helping students learn, and you can tell. Other comments that class can be boring are true; it's not a super-fun topic, but his explanations are great, and he goes the extra mile to FULLY show all steps in his solutions (I love that). Very, very kind to the students when making the exams. Focuses on concepts, not tricking you.
Nice teacher, but sadly alittle boring when it comes to lectures, especially if you've taken stats before in high school. I rarely used the textbook, but you have to buy it for the homework online. Tedious, but an easy A. Is reachable after class for office hours and will discuss grades with you if you have a problem with them.
Professor focused on concepts and made the potentially overwheming subject of Stat quite clear and easily understood. Certainly knows how to teach instead of lecture. Spent ample time to go over student questions and if a student still did not understand, would to say it in a different way or go into additional detail. Final was mostly from book.
Excellent teacher! Very clear, and summarizes well. I am a grad student in physics and needed a course in stats. I'm glad I had Dr. Izmirli.
If your taking ANY STAT CLASS then TAKE HIM. He knows the material VERY WELL. He explains everything throughly and tests are right out of the slides. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
He's sometimes hard to understand since he doesn't sound like English is his first language and he says "um and uh" to the extent that it's hard to listen to. If you are willing to read the textbook and powerpoints you'll do ok, but as for clarification in class...don't expect much.
Easy class, attendance not mandatory, but extra credit is given if you attend. Most assignments are done online. He reads off his power points, and puts them online. you don't get much by going to class. He has a habit of spending a long time on easy information and speeds through the actual hard questions.
This class isn't like any tradition statistics class. Its focuses more on the ideas and theories in statistics, and how to applying them to real world examples. This professor is a really good teacher. This class does have a good amount of homework, its pretty straight forward, but at the sometime very time consuming.
THere are two exams and a final. The first exam is an absolute joke, second one is a lot harder. The final is a combinations of the first exam and second, plus newer stuff. The great thing about this class is you are allowed to use a cheat sheet (life saver). There is a lot of online quizzes & hw, but you are allowed multiply attempts.
Extremely nice and dry humor professor who cares for his students, clear lectures, provides a lot of class math examples and works through those problems with students, very well at responding back to student's emails, fair person and professor, on time, TAKE THIS CLASS. :)
Horrible. Online classes are his last focus. Never answers questions clearly. Takes forever to respond. Online office hour is while you're at work. Technically illiterate. Hard to understand. I've never taken a worse online course. Does not try to cater to the working professional in the least, and does not seem to care a bit.
Really nice guy, and very sarcastic. He realized that no one wanted to be there and joked around about it without getting mad. Don't be disrespectful and noisy, though, cuz he gets really frustrated with that (understandably!). Lots of busywork for each chapter, but it really helps you learn the material.
Online class was absolutely terrible. Never answered questions thoroughly or even close to timely. TA's were no help either. It was basically figure the material out yourself. All questions are answered 2 days after they were asked. Audio lectures were posted later then they were supposed to be. Bad class, don't take it.
I love professor Izmirli! Attendance is not mandatory but if you rely on the powerpoints you probably will not understand them. He gives very clear explanations of the material and cracks a joke here and there. I think he is hilarious personally. I wouldn't suggest taking the summer class just because it's A LOT of material. I would recommend him!
Everything is done online (hw, pre-test, quiz). You get 3 try on hw and pre-test and the best you keep. On quiz, you get 3 try and the average is the final score. 3 test total. Lectures are very clear!! its a challenge to take this class BUT the professor is AWESOME!! Its my second time taking it....but this is the best math teacher!
Nice guy, not so good teacher. Often boring and unclear. Had Stat 250 w/ him which was much easier material but 350 you need a good teacher. Almost every hw contained mistakes that made them difficult/impossible to figure out, or things we hadn't learned yet. Would spend hours trying to figure hw out since he would wait til class to say his mistake
This class was awful. It's boring and he makes no attempt at trying to make it entertaining. He had very little respect for the students and he cannot teach at all. He just makes you even more confused. If you get the chance, do NOT take his class.
This is the most boring class I have ever taken at Mason. I wish the prof would at least attempt to present the material in a clear way. Avoid if possible.
I ended up teaching myself everything. Each lecture didn't cover all topics planned, so we didn't get as much exposure before exams as we should have. The homework is online, and somewhat annoying. The TA grades MiniTab assignments, and wasn't consistent in her grading, and her comments weren't helpful. The class was more time consuming than hard.
Veryyyyy easy teacher. I didn't show up after the first month and still did well. I'm not a math person but as long as you do the hw assignments online (Which you get multiply tries on) and study the day before the exam you can get an A. Unfortunately a VERY BORING teacher. No one spoke in class ever. It was extremely boring but easy A.
He does have an accent but its not thick so i understood him clearly. Most of what you do is online (HW, post test, & quizzes). HW & Post test done as many times as needed & ull get ur highest grade. Quiz can be redone 3x & grade is averaged between them. Videos on youtube to explain if confused. willing to go out of his way to help u. I liked him.
I probably attended 3 lectures the whole semester. Taught myself every concept from the power-point's and youtube, ended up with an A. He's an okay teacher, the class is just super boring. He doesn't curve AT ALL so beware(i manually calculated my grade to verify my final grade, missed an A+ by .7%). Take Surina if you can, i heard she does.
He is tough to understand because of his accent. If you have a graphing calculator and you know how to perform STAT/TESTS you will have a much easier time than memorizing all the formulas. Lots of computer assignments. The guy is an atheist, like me.
Really smart guy and a solid teacher if you pay attention. Unfortunately, his lectures are pretty dull (he's got a good sense of humor though when he shows it.) He does teach the concepts very clearly, it's just really easy to space out in that class. To be fair though, I can't really think of any way to make regression analysis exciting.
Best Professor ever!!! He's seriously SO NICE and willing to help. If you have any questions at all (even if they've already been answered) he'll patiently explain everything to you. He really just wants everyone to understand his topic. Really a great guy :)
He is a good teacher. He explains the concepts and tells you how to do the problem if you didn't understand. He is very approachable.
It is a very hard class. The professor helps explain and offer help outside of class but sometimes is confusing when explaining the in class problems and procedures.
I found this class ridiculously easy and the content wasn't hard at all. The exams were a joke because you get to use a cheat sheet and you can write whatever you want on it. Dr. Izmirli's not the most exciting guy but he is extremely nice and willing to help students. The coursework wasn't overwhelming and I wish there were more classes like this.
He is a very very helpful and nice professor. Although the lectures were a bit boring, he was always willing to help or answer any questions. The test were fairly easy and you could use a cheat sheet. Very nice professor!! Take him :)
I did not enjoy this class at all. Even though the content should have been easy, I had a hard time keeping up in class and understanding the material. The lectures are very boring but Izmirli is a really caring professor and is always available to help
Extremely nice and funny guy but the class was terribly boring and extremely difficult. HW Assignments and quizzes were SIGNIFICANTLY harder than the examples given in class but the HW could be done until you got a 100% but were worth less than 15% of the final grade. Only missed 1 class and barely got out with a B. He does curve grades though.
Excellent stats teacher. He is very willing to help his students outside of class. I took this over the summer and it was probably the best decision I ever made. He gave one in class midterm, one take home test, and the final was not cumulative. He is not trying to make it difficult. His notes nicely summarized the material. TAKE HIM!
this professor was average. GO SEE HIM DURING OFFICE HOURS, he will help you so much with homework, mini tab labs and what to study for on the tests. He is very helpful but only if you go see him during office hours.
Dr. Izmirli is a fair & positive teacher. Very clear in his explanations & presents material in a way that was easy for me to understand (& I am NOT mathematically inclined). Statistics is by nature a boring topic, but IMHO he's not. Genuinely cares about his students. Focus is on comprehension of statistical method which is what it should be.
Easy A
I took the class online and his audio lectures are not sufficient enough to learn the material. He needs to have more examples that are clearly explained. The minitab assignments aren't that bad except that theres really no training on how to use the program. He lost my midterm for a couple weeks.
Online the material is harder. GTA's grade harder than he does. Quizzes helpful for tests. Minitab software is harder than the actual material. takes a while to figure out on your own. The audio lectures are important-listen to them, office hours during the week, always available for meetings. HW in online program helpful, don't wait till day of!
Dr. Izmirli is truly wonderful. While his course wasn't "easy", he made himself easily accessible to students when help was needed. I'm glad I took his class from him. I really learned to appreciate statistics and, dare I say it, find it fun. All around, a great person and a supportive professor.
I'm horrible with Math, but Dr. Izmirli was extremely accessible in person and online. He was extremely patient with going over concepts I didn't understand when I went to his office hours. He will go out of his way to make sure you succeed. The most difficult class I've ever taken, but he recognizes those who put forth the effort.
His TA who grades the minitab assignments is absolutely awful. Izmirli is a lovely professor. He does what he can to help his students and he is passionate about the subject (and I am not…but he made it bearable). His midterm was not hard. However, the final made by the department was difficult. He curves a lot which is helpful.
Started off easy then progressively got a bit more difficult. The professor is great and is more than willing to help with questions. He does his best to explain all of the material. I'm sure he knows no one likes statistics, but he has a sense of humor. Class is pretty boring at times. I'd recommend him though.
This class is not easy be any means. However, if you show up to class, take good notes and study the slides, you will be in a good shape. There are 3 tests, 3 quizzes, and 5 Minitab assignments. You will need access to the book for Minitab assignments, I recommend buying the ebook. You need to do some hw on stats portal which is easy. He curves tho
Stat 250 is a very dry class and basically taught by PowerPoint slides throughout the department. With that being said it is extremely boring, but professor izmirli helped me tremendously. All you have to do is show up to class and go to his office hours and he's more than happy to help. The work really isn't bad if you go to class and read.
He is a great prof. but his test are weighted too much, even if you get 100 on very assignment, you could be close to failing. You have to study for this class. I wish that grading scale would be changed.
Very, very clear and simplistic lectures, HWs and exams. Not there to challenge you or to trip you up, but to teach you the very basics of stats. GO TO CLASS: his examsHWs are straight from the lectures, and the PPTs alone are not enough to understand the material. If you go to class you hardly have to crack open the book save for practice probs.
He's a really nice professor who isn't trying to trick you on exams. If you come to class, it's pretty easy to get an A. DEFINITELY take him for STAT 344. He's the best teacher for this subject.
Izmirli is the man! He is so kind and genuinely caring. Really great teacher! Take this class with him for sure -- but definitely study... not an Easy A.
Posts helpful audio lectures & ppts. Time consuming homework assignments & quizzes. Data Analysis Assignments are fairly difficult. Seek help if you need it.
He is kind and fair. The leclures are focused, clear, and organized. Be careful working on your homework. To get good grades for the hw, you will need to take good notes and might need to work on the examples in the textbook before jump into the hw. Hw is a good preparation for the Exams.
This professor is the worst. The most unclear, unspecific, unhelpful professor I've ever had. I've already taken two stat classes before him, but they didn't transfer over, so I had to take it again. I thought it would be easy, but this guy ACTIVELY makes it more difficult through ridiculous weighting and weird questions. He barely answers email.
Izmirli is a nice man. The subject is boring and his lectures can be too. His exams are more difficult than the problems he goes over in class so you will need to practice problems in the book to do well. Also, do not rely on your formula sheet to get a good grade. You should pay attention. He is willing to help.
I took the class and hardly showed up for class (only showed up like 8 or 9 times total). I got a near perfect on the homework and did pretty well on the tests. As such, I was able to get an easy B. When I did show up for class, the material that he presented was clear. He does reference the textbook a LOT though, so be sure to have it. Nice guy.
If you have to take STAT 344, take it with Izmirili. He clearly explains the material and isn't out to trick you on the exams. He posts powerpoint lectures but mostly uses notes written in class to teach. He is good at trimming the material into the need-to-know basics. Take him for sure!
Dr. Izmirli was very responsive to all of my emails and was willing to work with me and was very helpful overall. He send emails at the beginning of every week to list all of the assignments for this week, which was helpful. If you are not a strong math student, I would not recommend taking it online. It was a very, VERY difficult class.
VERY NICE, EASY-GOING GUY. Only 4 or 5 hw assignments bc of snow days. Tests pulled heavily from class notes. Did all hw and studying w/ friends in class and always got over a 95. Easy A as long as you go to class, take good notes, and have a study group. Handwriting is very messy, but he's very willing to go slow or reread what he wrote if asked.
This was the most material heavy course I've ever taken. There is so much to learn with a substantial amount of homework. This class requires a lot of your time to pass. For someone who took liberal arts math, introduced to this...I was more than overwhelmed. I would not suggest online version for people like myself. He was very responsive to email
This class is doable but you must spend a LOT of time on it. Don't take this class with a full load of other classes. I would take it along with 3 other classes; no more than that. You will need to spend a great amount of time to pass. I thought I was good at math until I took this class... Nevertheless, spend a great deal of time on this class.
The class generally is very easy but he makes it very difficult to pass. His handwriting sucks. Its hard to cope up with him in class. Even if you attend all classes and take notes you will still not understand him and fail. He's a very tough grader.
Took him this past summer and found it to be a bit of a struggle. First off his handwriting is bad so sit close up. HW is an easy way to save your grade because the tests make or break you. The tests are fairly reminiscent of the homework but still study. Allows double sided sheet of notes for exams. I would recommend taking during 16 week session
He is very lecture heavy. I'd take if you plan to attend every class and are a good note taker. His exams aren't too bad but they were graded harshly and he ended curving grades at the end. Take good notes and use his study guide for the tests and you should be fine.
Leacture heavy lots of notes to take. Does a lot of examples in class. Allows cheat sheet on exams. Only studied for exams the night before, relied on cheat sheet and got a B. Tests are not graded by the professor, but by his GTA. The GTA is a horrible grader so see Izmirli to get some points back if possible. Recommend Izmirli- dont mess tests up!
Bombed the first exam, got As on the second & final exam. I was expecting to get a B+ based on his syllabus, but he ends up curving so that i got an A. He has a monotone voice that can put you to sleep. He is well prepared for every lecture and explains everything step by step. Have all the formulas with examples on your sheet & the exam is easy.
if you are not good at math do not take this class online. although everything is clear and laid out, statistics is challenging and if you fall behind on your work it can cause your test grades to suffer...
This class is awful at the least. You would think the focus would be on getting the students to learn the material rather than barraging them with assignments (HW and Data Analysis) which was often due at the same time and don't reflect the exams. I took Psych stats and did great but this, its nothing like psych stats.
There's a ton of homework, but majority of grades come from exams. I received a 70.4 percent which is a C but he told me it's a C- and won't bump it up. So now I need to retake the entire course again. Terrible professor he doesn't even teach. You basically have to teach yourself.
The professor doesn't have a good method of teaching. Basically, you don't understand what is he talking about. Ugh, TA is such a terrible grader. taking points for nothing. The worst class I have ever had.
Not a good one!!!!!
Don't miss his lectures. Exam material comes exactly from the lectures or is similar to the homework. Allows one sheet front and back to use on the exam, which really makes the exam a walk in the park if you took good notes as the problems are pretty similar.
I had already taken Statistics and knew the material, but he was unclear on requirements for assignments (very clear on parts, but took tons of points off for little stuff he didn't mention - to the point of getting Cs ), included material not yet gone over in the tests, and was not accessible (I took an online class). Got a B when I deserved an A.
His teaching style consists of non-stop notes and a monotonic tone. Did not find his lectures very interesting and found myself watching the clock most of the time. However, if you're just looking for the easy grade, just show up and write everything down. you'll do just fine.
Lecture is a lot of note writing (6-8) pages, and professor doesn't upload them to BB. Also class average was around 60% and no real curve (only will add some points to the final). You can do good in class if you work a lot on practice questions and never miss a class. Material is fairly easy and homework was easy too.
He's a mediocre professor (He does have a little sense of humor). Can't skip class cause he won't post his notes on blackboard, so get ready to write a lot. What's nice is there is no trick questions on exams and everything he'll test you on is from his notes. You don't even need the textbook for that class. Study well and you should do just fine.
The poster below claiming a class average of 60% is lying, he never shares class grades. This is the best stat professor at GMU. Very passable class just take notes and do the homework. Tests mirror assignments and notes. And he does curve even though he claims he doesn't. People do bad cause they cheat on the hw instead of working on it
The professor was ok. He was helpful during his office hours. One negative I have is he was harsh with the grading for the homework and tests. His handwriting is hard to read sometimes and he also goes by really fast in class. Attendance isn't required but i highly recommend it since the test & hw questions are usually from the lecture notes.
overall good professor. Knows what he's doing. He was helpful during his office hours. His TAs do a lot of the grading for homework and exams and they grade very harshly. if you appeal the grades to him he usually gives points back. has bad hand writing and lecture goes by fast. only critique is that he doesn't post his notes.
One of the best at GMU. His lectures are great. Lots of examples helps you understand the concept. Very helpful outside the class. After each exam If you go talk to him he would give partial points back. Highly recommended.
He's not the greatest. He hand writing is horrible and he goes really fast, if you didn't get it the first time your screw. exams were very tough. homework wasn't too bad. There are better ones out there.
He is a good teacher with a great sense of humor and tries his best to make a dry and tedious subject interesting. He always takes the time to answer everyone's questions. Most of the information comes from lectures and his online notes. If you attend class and study the lecture / sample problems it is not too difficult to pass.
Nice and humorous man. For me, statistics is not my thing at all but he makes it enough for me to understand. Exams are incredibly difficult for me and in my opinion, there really isn't a way to prepare for them. He is a fine professor but he would be a plan B option. Data analysis and online quizzes help out even exam scores. DO THEM
Takes attendance. You use an online software(statcrunch) to do most all problems for you. Weekly quizzes. 3 tests (2nd one is difficult). Class is somewhat difficult but that's all stat classes. As far as the professor, he's great. Funny. Made the class much lighter and better than I was expecting. He's a great professor to take.
In my honest opinion Dr. Izmirli teaches classes the way every college class should be taught. His exams are almost a direct reflection of the class notes and homework. If you do them, you will be fine.
Prof. Izmirli is your prototypical lecture and assignments type of professor. The lectures help but only if you do the practice problems and look over the textbook. I skimmed notes and kept doing practice problems which helped me do well on the test. There are also online quizzes and data analysis assignments. An "a"is possible if you work hard.
Make sure you go to class! He does a lot of examples which basically end up on the test. So definitely go. He is kind of annoying to talk to but the GTA made a lot of mistakes grading my tests and he would easily adjust it, and is very reasonable. He is an okay professor, definitely knows his stuff.
Make sure you pay attention in class because he does a lot of examples that can help you on the tests. I also recommend doing the practice homework's even though their not required because they can help you on the quizzes.
This guy is one of the few professors at GMU that can actually lecture. LOTS of notes and you wont absorb anything in clsss but when you look at the notes it makes sense. All you need is his lectures, you dont need the textbook or youtube videos. Exams and homework are straight from example problems in lecture so take good notes.
Attendance isn't mandatory, but if you want to get an A just show up, and MAKE NOTE OF WHAT HE WRITES. THE EXAMPLES HE WRITES IN CLASS ACTUALLY COMES IN THE EXAM. (Not the exact some question but very very similar) its not from the book, not from the assignments he gives, but the in-class examples. You seriously can't fudge it up if you show up.
One of the best statistics professors GMU has to offer. Show up to class to see examples when very similar problems from the examples show up in exams. Can use the front and back of one formula sheet on all exams and the T table on the final. Must still have to work hard on exams, but the questions are reasonable.
I very much enjoyed stat with Izmirli. His lectures can be dry, but his notes are phenomenal. He is a very solid choice. You are encouraged to use a calculator and a cheat sheet for the exams. Exams are exactly what you learned, no surprises. Make sure you have a decent foundation in calculus before the second half of the class. Would take again
Oh man this professor is by far the most easy at mason like all you have to do take note from what ever he write on class he will bring the same kind to the exam. that class need a lot of work but taking him easy A for sure. It's kind confessing hand writing but you will get it after few class.
Review for Summer 2020 Online. Gave a few assignments with problems and MATLAB. He records lectures asynchronously but looking at the written notes he provides is good enough imo. His exams are pretty fair. He also boosted our final grade by 4 points at the end of the semester.
His online lectures are harder to follow than it would seem his in-person ones are, but if you pay attention it isn't too hard. Absolutely brutal grading on homework, but grades more fairly on tests, which matter way more.
I agree with the rating below saying he's a tough grader. I've had to email a few times to have some homework grades corrected too. Since this was online and asynchronous it wasn't hard keeping up with the lectures. His exams weren't difficult either. Basically just watch his lectures and read the notes he provides and you should be fine.
Do all of your quizzes and homeworks on My statlab, the extra practices are basically on the tests, if you do those, understand the concepts that you pass the tests, There is 4 projects (DA's), there a huge percentage, and he grades easy on those, but you make sure you read it carefully, he curbs grades, so drops the lowest test, go to office hours
Easiest class you will ever take. Just make sure you understand his notes, as question in the exams are very similar to the examples in the notes.
Prof. Izmirli was the best math professor I have had at George Mason. If I could rate him higher than a 5, I would. He was always available and had office hours every weekday to explain everything in great detail, even during COVID. He also always answered emails quickly. Would highly recommend!
I think he's a solid choice. I took him asynchronous and here's what I recommend: read the textbook explanation to understand the concept, then look at the examples in his lecture notes. If you really don't get it, watch the lecture recording. He didn't respond to half my emails, but his lecture notes were 11/10 and I appreciated that.
There were only 4 assignments and 2 Exams, and the Final. He is clear and straight to the point and made taking this class during COVID pretty easy. I didn't read the textbook at all, honestly just study the lecture notes and always create the cheat sheet he allows on exams. Exams are just like lecture notes, nothing surprising. Would take again!
Nice guy and a lenient grader. His lecture notes are all you need, don't bother with the textbook. Tests were based closely on the examples in the notes and weren't difficult per se, but very time-consuming as we had to type out what we did for each question (this was annoying for integration). He allowed a cheat sheet with anything on it.
Honestly don't know how to feel about the class but prof tries to make it understandable. Gives a decent amount of extra credit and his questions come from his notes (not directly but close enough). Use the notes as a study guide and show up to class maybe once or twice a month just to check in.
Professor Izmirli is very helpful. This is a challenging course, but he does a good job helping the students with any question they may have, either in or outside class. He is very accessible and genuinely wants to see the student succeed. If you have to take STAT344, I would recommend taking him.
The course is a lot of information, but he pretty much only asks you about the easy things and is SUPER forgiving when it comes to grading.
Took Izmirli for STAT 344 during the summer. Great professor. Overall, his class was laid back and easy. He explained everything in a detailed manner. The class is fast paced in the summer and a lot of material is covered, but it is manageable. Grades were determined by 2 tests, 1 final, and 4 homework assignments.
He is the nicest professor I've ever met. He responds quickly through emails and is lenient in grading as long as you discuss the points with him. The tests are all online with no supervisor and straight from the example he gives. Attendance are not required but the materials will make a lot more sense if you come to his lectures.
For this class, I had to do 4 HW assignments, 2 midterms, and a final. Exams make up a majority of your grade, but the questions are close to the examples he covers in lectures. His handwriting while lecturing is hard to read, so I suggest you look at the lecture notes he posts.
3 Exams worth 85% and 4 HW assignments worth 15%. Exams are taken on lockdown browser unproctored. As long as you study the lecture notes he posts in BB you will definitely pass the class.
Course was not that hard for being at a 300 level. Plenty of time to complete all homework assignments, and is very lenient on grading them. All tests were MC and (close to) open notes. You will need to do some calculus, but there is plenty of review for that. Lectures could be a bit slow at times, but Ilhan was good enough at answering questions.
I had Professor Izmirli for STAT 360 and 362. He's very kind and approachable and willing to help you after class. I would definitely recommend him. The only thing to beware for 362 with this professor is that a lot of the code that he provides doesn't work and needs some tweaking. It was his first time teaching 362 though.
**STAT 360/STAT 362. Simply put, he is a great professor who cares about his students, teaches amazingly, and will crack a joke every now and then. Taking him for Stat 360 and Stat 362. Very structured courses. If you study and do well on assignments and exams throughout the year, and attend the class, you will no doubt succeed.
Izmirli is a great professor who cares about his students and wants them to succeed, especially those who don't have experience with R or SAS. Although his code is broken sometimes, he grades fairly easily. There are six homework assignments, a mid-term, and a final. Very straightforward.
Izmirli is great but only 1 star off because his handwriting is quite illegible and the lecture pace is very slow. Grades are 4 hw, 2 midterms, and 1 final which are all online and the exams are on lockdown browser with no camera.
Kind and respectful professor! His lectures can be hard to understand, especially because his handwriting is hard to read, but he is very caring and always willing to help if you get stuck on concepts. There was only a midterm and final, along with 6 homework assignments. Study and attend class and you'll do great.
Grades the homework very easy. Exams aren't too far off from the notes. He's very nice and accessible.
Overall, Prof Izmirli is a very friendly guy and his class setting was good for engagement and being able to ask questions. Come to class, understand the stats concepts and the RStudio and SAS demos. class is mainly graded on midterm, HW, and final. utilize his notes to study for exams!
Not bad but I would not take him
Professor Izmirli's STAT344 class is well-structured and fair. Exams are straightforward, and he's generous with grading. Using unstuck ai and the posted lecture notes can really help you succeed.
Great at explaining concepts and coming up with examples on the spot. Notes can be hard to read sometimes and the typed word documents he posts on blackboard don't contain all of the information given in class so I've had to use other resources. He is absolutely hilarious if you enjoy deadpan humor.
