You can't understand him at all. The only reason he forces you to attend the lectures is because he knows you don't need to hear anything he says, because you can get everything he says and more from the book. He knows if he didn't force us to come, nobody would come and he'd be fired. Nobody I know likes him.

He is absolutely impossible to understand in lecture. Most people play on their laptops, watch movies or do homework in the mandatory lecture. Pay attention in lab, that's where you get all the answers for the test, and do your homework (copious amounts of worksheets.) This class is an EASY A+ if you sink enough time.

I think the format of the class has changed. It was easy for me because I have a strong background in biology, but I know many non-science majors who struggled for a B. Don't be afraid after your 1st day of class. The TA's give a review before each exam - you don't need to do anything but study the review and you will ace the tests. Class lectures are useless. Do not take this class if you are a business major trying to knock out an easy science credit. His lectures are impossible to understand with his accent and the textbook is useless. The only way to complete the review is with quizlets. His tests are similar to the review but NOT identical. They are a lot of random questions, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.

I love him! His lectures are a bit hard to follow because of his accent, but this course is not difficult AT ALL. You have the reviews/review sessions and TAs who are there to help if you need it. Exams are exactly like the reviews. TAKE THIS CLASS, esp if you're a biol major looking for a less time consuming elective.

I agree with a previous post - his lectures are kind of hard to follow because of his accent, but he is not oblivious to this and makes up for it in his exams. This course is NOT DIFFICULT AT ALL because you have the reviews and review sessions. It's sad that people are giving him poor ratings due to his accent. I would 100% recommend him.

He has a thick accent and is pretty soft-spoken. However, this class is very easy. The tests are very similar to the reviews, and there will be review sessions where they go over the answers. Attendance is part of your grade, but just show up and you will be fine. I highly recommend this class. You can get an easy A for an upper BIOL elective.

This class is a really easy biology elective. All you have to do is show up to class take notes and study them and the review for exam. Textbook isn't needed at all. This class also gives a good base for upper elective science classes with absolutely no out of class work. Good for non-science majors too. Make sure to study notes not just the review

Let me start by stating that this man clearly cares for what he is teaching. However, a lot of his lectures really don't reflect on the course. In fact, you can pass the exams by memorizing the review up and down. All of your studying will be outside of this class, but other than that it's an easy A. Just kick back, enjoy the lecture, study at home

Dr. Sapozhnikov clearly cares about his class and students, but his lectures are hard to focus through, and his accent makes understanding him even more difficult. The work you need to put in to earn an A in the class will come from your own time; for the first two exams you need to really read the book but after that you can memorize the reviews.

Give this professor a chance. At first you may be taken aback because his accent is hard to understand and he speaks softly, but he really is a good and caring professor. Very lecture heavy class but he is a knowledgeable speaker. Test are pretty much what you go over in the review sections so make sure you pay attention.

My favorite teacher that I've had at UTD so far! He's so sweet and so willing to spend time to answer any extra questions you have. Grades are from the exams and attendance. If you pass all the exams, you can drop your lowest. If you study the reviews, you can easily get an A in this class. Definitely recommend for anyone needing an upper Biology!

His accent didn't bother me like others. I found him easy to understand. Class was just tests and reviews for them. Though, there was no review for the cumulative final which was irritating. The slides are incredibly outdated and neither his lectures or the slides will help with the tests. The answers for the reviews were never given online.

Guy is a sweet guy, but you will not hear him if you don't sit in the first two rows. The tests are very easy if you do the review. Basically all tests. He has a pretty thick eastern European accent, so its hard to understand him, adding to the fact he is a more older gentleman. Very good class for non-bio majors

although he is super quiet and sometimes hard to understand, he is very genuine, caring, and sweet. for me personally, it wasn't all too difficult to listen to him if you were actively paying attention. very lecture heavy but his reviews are SUPER good practice for the exams - just memorize the review and you'll do fine. easy class to boost GPA

This class is an easy A. If you are looking to be engaged and actively participate you will not find that environment here. Dr. Sapozhnikov will reject correct answers because it doesn't use doctor-level terminology. He teaches lectures that are way beyond an introductory class. His methods discourage participation which results in a dull class.

Majority of grade comes from exams while ten percent comes from attendance. You really need to pay attention to lectures and take notes and study the review for the first two exams. After that, you just need to study the review and you should be good. Try to sit in the front as he is soft spoken and has quite a Russian accent. Overall, an easy A.

This professor is very hard to understand, even though he is very much interested in what he teaches. His lectures are like 6 hours long which no one can understand so doesn't help at all. All I relied on was his test reviews which I got the answers from the textbook. Get the textbook! Study the review and read the chapters to do good on the test.

His lecture videos were very hard to understand and were longer than anticipated. I relied on reviews and also the textbook. The TAs were VERY helpful!
