Goes too fast and doesn't seem to understand why some students aren't as good as math as he is
First of all...totally hot! Great teacher. Takes time to make sure everyone understands what he is teacher. Really wants you to succeed. But you do have to work for it. It is math you know.
Very fair and helpful. I used the book more than his lecture, but overall the class wasn't too difficult.
The book was more useful.
I liked him alot
He is foreign so his english isn't the best, but as long as you do the homework and pay attention you'll do alright. I did lousy on an exam or two but still managed to get a C (2.0).
Great teacher, makes sure everyone understands and will take the time to help you. Can be a little fast at times but do the homework and you should be fine!
Diff Eq is a tough class to say the least. I think Dakka did a fairly good job of explaining a tough subject.
Very helpful. He stops lecturing so you can understand, gives out many examples, and best of all he't not tricky. The best teacher I've ever had. I love the way he teaches!
Although class is one of the toughest classes I have had in my life, Dr.Dakka have made it doable, and at times fun. I like his teaching style of allowing class discussion, and his willingness to help. Great professor.
I loved this teacher. He was very easy to understand & would explain things over if you needed help to understand. His tests were not tricky & he always had extra credit on each test (who doesn't love extra credit!).I highly recommend this teacher to everyone. He was not bad to look at too! :)
Very Nice Person, Excellent Professor

The best math teacher at Royal Oak! Take him if you have the chance.
Before i had him for almost 4 Math classes. He is the best teacher i have had for math. Grades fairly and explains super good. He can a donkey how to do math problems. If u do the Home work and study the practice tests ahead of time u can manage an A. In my opion he is the Best Math Prof. at all OCC campuses. Highly Recommended. :)Great Person Too.
This guy is difficult to understand! He speaks in a low tone and with an accent and does not explain things very well. I passed the course only because I was able to learn on my own from the book. Also, his tests are more difficult than they should be. DO NOT TKE HIM FOR MATH!!!
Very Good Teacher !!!!!I think he is the best math teacher at OCC and he is very good looking, you can't beat that.
He is an Outstanding teacher and very fair. He is very efficient at covering alot of material in a short amount of time. Expect to take alot of notes, but they are all usefull. Do your homework and study his old tests and you will do well. Don't expect a Gimmie Grade. I highly recommend his classes.
Good teacher, i enjoyed his class, i recomand him over all the math teachers in OCC. make sure that you do your homework that is the key to pass any math class, i speake from experiance.
Very willing to help anyone that needs it. Recommend him to anyone taking math.
BEST TEACHER I EVER HAD!!!!HE IS VERY CLEAR AND MAKES SURE YOU UNDER STAND!!!TAKE HIM HES GREEAAATTTT!!!
easy and boring course, if you can not get A. That means you should go to middel school again.
He's a straight shooter. He was well-prepared with his lecture notes, which were succinct and clear (and photocopied for everyone!). The material is not very difficult, but gets very abstract and dry.
kinda good
Only stayed in class for two days. Very very dry humor. Not very clear on what he's talking about. Will correct you even if you have the right answer. Very monotoned and unanimated. Basically a robot with a pen.
Goes through each section fairly quickly. Hasn't been all that helpful, he'll walk around the class checking answers and sort of walks you through it once in a while. Very monotone.
u will be sleeping for the whole time. alos, what ever u do dont take his for 4 hours in one day. take him for 2 day.
I wa apprehensive about taking trig. cos i was burned by my high school teacher but the class was so easy,i will take it over again. He is an awesome teacher.
I LOVE DAKKA! He is my favorite teacher! Yea i failed math but thats cuz i dont get it, its not his fault. He gave me all the help he could. Ive taken him 3 times. Hes understanding and fair.you will take alot of notes.please do yourself a favor and take this mans class. i will never have a different math teacher cuz he is the best. he loves soccer
THIS GUY SHOULD NOT TEACH. IF U ASK MORE THAN ONE QUESTION HE REFUSES TO HELP YOU & SAYS STAY AFTER & HE GETS FRUSTRATED. HE IS VERY BORING. AVOID UNLESS YOU WANT TO STAB YOURSELF IN THE EYE. HE WON'T BUMP U CUZ MY FRIEND HAD AN 89% & HE REFUSED TO GIVE HER AN A. HE THOUGHT HE WAS COOL WITH HIS GUCCI BELT, PLEASE I HAVE A NEW BMW & I'M IN COLLEGE.
He is great...very nice and helpful
Best math teacher I've ever had! I would take a math class with him again any day!
He explains very well, and his exams are not very hard. But he doesnot stay after class for student assistance.
Should have been an easy A. He is a good instructor, however, he has a PHd and I think he has difficulty teaching such low lecel class. He is hot though, and that made for nice scenery.
genius
Dr. Dakka has wonderful teaching ethic. He is very intellectual in his area of teaching and he takes time to slow down for students who does't catch on so easily. He also keeps the class alert by throwing in jokes every now and then just to make sure the class is following the material. If the student applies themself, passing his class is a breeze
One of the best professors I've had. Clearly explains everything and hands out old tests to study a week in advance of tests. Great sense of humor, not to mention attractive..
Awesome Professor I ever had, Just follow the materials and you will do good for sure,
very wonderfull and he explains every thing with an easy way that every one can understand it quickly
Great Prof! Funny He make dumb little jokes that make you laugh. very easy class as long as you go or follow along in your book. if you really don't get math take the longer class he moves fast. but doesn't move on if someone doesn't get it
Statistics is made clear and fun by Dr. Dakka. I learned a lot by doing the final project with my partner. Also, having a hot professor is very conducive to learning.
Dr. D was a great professor. I'm not very good at math, and I passed with a B. If you have questions, he answers, and if you need help, he doesn't give you a hard time. Plus, he gave out practice tests the week before the exams. I wish I could take him again next semester.
Get out!!
This is the second class I have had with Dr. Dakka. He is an excellent instructor and works hard to make sure students succeed and get as much as possible from the class. If you prepare and study for the class and tests, you will do well.
Dr. Dakka is the best and cares for his students to successfully comple this course. Explains everything clear and concise so you can remember and apply what you'll learn. Plus having a sexy man like him will keep you focus every class lol easy pass just study notes, and do the MiniTab Projects,& Prac. Problems then you will fine. Test are not hard
Dr. Dakka is amazing. He is also the biggest sweetheart. Really clear and helpful when it comes to teaching his students. Exams are very fair. I would definitely take him for another math course!
Dr. Dakka is amazing! Take him! :)
Dr. Dakka is a terrific professor. I'm someone who struggles with math yet he makes everything seem so easy. He make the learning environment comfortable and is always willing to help you if you are having trouble. It can't get better than Dr. Dakka.
AWESOME TEACHER!!!! He is always clear..stops and answers all questions will go voer questions before tests. Lets you drop one test score..tells you what you need to know to pass his class and continue on if need be..very caring and understanding! He is really here for the students! Couldnt ask for a better math teacher!!!!!
When did statistics get fun? in Dakka's class :)
Starts/ends class on time. Covers and understands all material. Tests are fair and fit easily into alloted time. Talks in a monotone but nobody ever seemed bored. Class moves a bit fast at times.
Dr. Dakka is a great professor. He is prompt and does a great job explaining the subject matter. I knew relatively nothing about algebra prior to taking this class and ended up grasping every concept perfectly thanks to his teaching methods and "SI" sessions.
he is good teacher, though if you need to take time with math to understand, I wouldnt suggest taking it for summer. It goes really fast. He is a good teacher though.
Dakka is awesome. practice tests are similar to the exams and gives a final review as well that is similar to the exam. Study your notes and P-tests and you'll do great. I never once did any homework. I study the notes and P-test 1-2 nights before the tests and got an 85% average. problems on tests are like the the lecture notes. Take him!
great teacher. explains everything very well
He doesn't care what's going on with studends. HE is not flexible he is not easy. His style of teaching is MY WAY OR NO WAY. He doesn't help at all. Some times he act so aggresive that person who asked question starts feeling sorry. HE was such a jerk who thinks he is something actually he is nothing more than an idiot who can't even speak right.
One of my fav teachers!! He explains everything so clearly and shows different ways of solving problems. He gives a pretest online to practice on and they somewhat match the test. Helps with everything!! Awesome math teacher
He's a good teacher, but he goes kind of fast and he does have a little bit of an accent so sometimes it's hard to understand him. You can't miss any classes or you'll fall behind.
he is the best math teach i ever had! i love his sense of humor, and the way he teaches. He also gives handouts prior to explaining the sections. His tests are easy as long as you study the practice test he posts on blackboard. i have recommended his class to all my friend lol. ps: love how he always wear brand clothes lol
AWESOME! Had him for INT. ALG and I'm taking TRIG next semester with him again. I suggested him to all of my friends who need to take another math course. He's quick but clear, funny and nice, and dresses pretty cute:) Dakka puts his old tests and a separate one online for ever chapter including his final ! Very helpful. Pay attention, hes awesome.
Great Professor. I would highly recommend him. Make sure to attend class. He does not collect homework but to do well on exams you should do your homework, attend class and do the practice exams he puts on blackboard for you.
The best Professor I had so Far. He did everything in clear steps. If you study for the test from the practice test you should do really well.
great explanations and made it easy to follow from day one until the final.
Best math teacher in the world! He really breaks every step down! Study his in class handouts and read the chapter reviews and you will do great in the class. I didn't do any of the homework and the class was still easy breezy!!!
He is a really great teacher. Befor tests you can go into his office and he will help you with any questions you have. he also gives you tips on what to focus on. His study guides are EXACTLY like the real test...just different #'s. I LOVED HIM
He was extremely hard because the class was only lectures. If you are more hands on, this is not the class for you. He is nice, but very dull. I'd recommend someone more upbeat.
great professor, funny makes math interesting
Terrible. He gets frustrated. Does not give enough time for tests. Also, puts new material on the tests without knowing it!! DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!!
Very nice and smart professor. Took little time to used to his class because he writes a lot of notes, but later, these are golden! He lectures with many good examples for exam. 5exams, drop lowest. Very helpful and highly recommended
Very helpful, he uses the textbook a lot
Dakka is a great teacher. very helpful, notes are clear, and explains well. You should not miss any class. Notes are very vital. Plus, doing the homework helps a lot. I did all the homework and studied hard. His previous tests help a lot so study them and you should do fine. I passed the class with a B. Extra credit id you dint you you cell phone!
I do not recommend this teacher 4 anybody that is a hands on learner he teaches very fast gets frustrated when u don't understand him or ask questions has no sympathy does not respond to emails this class is strictly lecture .notes online are very vague he is very dry & doesnt ever seem enthusiastic about teaching if ur not a genius don't take him
His tests are easier than other math teachers his lectures are clear.Attendance is not counted in your grade but u need to attend since you would miss a a lot if u don't. I would recommend this teacher tests are really similar to the hw and practice tests does not give anything weird or complicated that the book or notes don't have.
One of the best math professors I have had. He knows his stuff and he teaches it as simple as he can. He gives you great notes in class. Attending class is not mandatory but it is a vital part in understanding the material. There are study guides available which are very much like the tests he gives in class. I would recommend him 100 percent
He knows his math very well. He gives out a study guide that is almost exact to what the exams are. I would recommend him as a teacher.
Great teacher! You need to attend class to learn, but there are very helpful SI sessions before every class. Dakka is straight and informative. I would recommend him to anyone!
Dakka is a great teacher! His notes are easy to follow, he is very good at gauging the classes understanding as a whole, and he is good at connecting new material to old material. He can be a bit intimidating in class sometimes, but if you ever visit him during his office hours he is very nice and helpful. I highly recommend him.
EXCELLENT EXCELLENT EXCELLENT!!!really really helpful, helps you understand and explains the material very well!if you want an A i recomment taking this professor!!! but must do homework and study, there is no such thing in life as a free A.
Awesome teacher!!! Explains everything that you need to know. Very conistant with material, reviews material from last test that is related and needed for the up-coming section. Very nice and very understanding! Take him!!!
One of my best experiences with a math teacher, explains everything, will stop if you don't understand.
Do the homework, it's practice. Some people think they can pass the class without doing it but you're making a mistake my friend. He is intimidating at first but he is always looking for people to ask questions. He is my favorite instructor. Do your homework, study off his practice exams a lot and you should pass the class with an A like i did.
Dakka is one of the best profs I've had at OCC. Grade is based solely on exams and homework isn't mandatory, but it's necessary if you want to pass. He gives practice exams beforehand and answers all questions. If you don't understand something, he'll try to explain it differently. Wish he was teaching calc 2 next semester. I'd take him again!
He is really nice and helpful. If you understand what he teaches you will get an A. There are no surprises on the tests. The questions on the exams are the exact same ones he shows in class and on the practice tests, just with different numbers. He will answer any question if you miss something.
He is really good. Would definitely take him again!
He was understanding that math is not everyone's strong suit, and would give help when asked. My particular class had SI sessions that were offered before class, they turned out to be the most helpful before the test. Buying the book is important, he gives assignments out of it that will help in preparing for the test.
I'm not the best at math so Dakka wasn't the easiest. He moves fast, skips over a lot of stuff, and the extra credit is hard. but he gives reviews from the class and its pretty close to the actual test. Unfortunately I'm still taking this class this summer. But if he wasn't full for the summer, ill probably take him again even after failing.
extra credit for not using cellphone. provide notes and exam review. during the lecture is confusing, but if you study the note you will be fine. the test ones is somewhat similar to it. kind of easy on you at the monthly exams , but quite difficult at the final exam. So if you want an A grade do the all the homework. Fear teacher.
I do not recommend this math instructor for anybody that is hands on learner. He moves very fast and and gets frustrated when you do not understand him. Also, he does not seem enthusiastic about teaching you if you are not great in math.
Dr. Dakka is a good instructor and happy to answer questions. Clear grading criteria, extra credit opportunities, practice material available online (almost identical to tests), gives partial credit on test answers. You'll need to study and do the homework to get an A, but it is definitely attainable
The lectures sometimes seem a bit rushed(maybe because I took an 8 week class), but he will stop and clarify if you don't understand . Do the practice tests, they are practically the same as the tests except with different numbers. If you do your homework and the practice tests you will get an A for sure. Grades solely based off tests.
Although I got an A, he sucks. He always look bored and seems not interested in teaching. Never going to take his classes. I dont recommend him.
He's one of the best professors in the college. He's not very easy but he gives you a TON of tools, notes, reviews and help to make exams easy. Most professors don't give you much and tell you to "study the hw" but he makes it extremely clear what's going to be on the exams. Study and do his hw and reviews and you should be perfectly fine!
I specifically came on this website to write my first review for Mr. Dakka. After takkng elementary algebra once and failing..I took Mr. Dakka's class and passed. Sadly to say This was my first math class I have ever passed in my life... He is the best inspirational teacher I've ever had. His post his last semester test on D2L(very similar)-Mich D
Clear cut class. Was made up of four tests and your final. Study the past semester's exams on D2L for sure, they are exactly what to expect. He is severely anti-phone, which I liked. Don't bring it out in class or he will get upset. Six points extra credit is added to final grade based on NOT taking out your phone.. Very nice man, would take again.
4 exams, one final, one droppable exam that can't be the final. He assigns a pretty decent amount of homework. Skip all the story/physics problems in the homework and focus the story problems on his past exams. Do at least 90% of all the homework. Buy a big notebook. I took 180 pages of notes in his calc class. Exams are similar to study guides.
Calc was difficult, but Dr. Dakka is a good instructor. If you want to pass, go to every class, si sessions, do all homework, and focus on the practice tests, which are very similar to actual tests. He gives 4 tests and a mandatory final, dropping the lowest test grade. Lenient grader as long as you attempt problems.
Took MAT 1100, MAT 1150 and MAT 1540 with him. He normally give 6 exams, one of which can be dropped besides the final. Homework is assigned from problems in the book but not mandatory or due. Doing the homework or parts of it and practice/review previous exams is key to success in his course. Be to class and don't use phone to get extra credit.
he is EXCELLENT TEACHER and really wants his students to learn and understand math. If you dont understand he will make sure you understand before moving on. He assigns alot of homework but doesnt grade only meant to practice for test. Has 5 exams and a final (comprehensive) exam. one can be thrown out but not final. doesnt allow makeup exams
He is a very boring teacher it makes you not even want to stay in the class. You can barely understand anything he is saying which makes it difficult to learn also.
Dr. Dakka is a great teacher. I don't know why so many people on here seem to dislike him. He's funny. He's fair. And I've taken a few math courses at OCC and he is by far the best. His instructions are much better than most teachers and he makes things easy to understand. I would 100% take him again for math.
Dr. Dakka was simply a great teacher. He always answered questions, gave reviews for tests, even hand wrote a review for the final because his students asked him too. I'm not even good at math and got over 100% percent in the class. Your work ethic gets you the grade you want here. If you're a lazy student find another major without math..
He's so funny and he's really nice and would wait for you to understand the subject. Calculus is a very very tough class, I definitely recommend him considering I took a 15 week class and failed, but in an 8 week class with Imad, I got an A. Crazy how much difference one teacher makes right? Trust me and go with Imad. He's absolutely the best.
He is my first math professor but my favorite
I took Dakka for Calc 1 and was really excited to see he was teaching Calc 3. He was a completely different person. Clearly didn't want to be teaching the course, told us he didn't have time for office hours, and was an overall grouch the entire semester. I got an A, but only because I spent hours teaching myself. SI was helpful either.
Dr. Dakka gives great, well detailed lectures. His tests are exactly on the topics in the lectures, so it is highly to your advantage to take good notes, do the homework. The class can be tough , which he realizes. Thankful he is very easy going and willing to help you.
Professor Dakka... It took me a while to get use to his teaching style, but once I got it, it was clear how great of a teacher he is. One that actually care about his students outcome. Gives practice test, drops the lowest score out of 5 exams, and make himself available for extra help. I didn't get A I got B, but it has nothing to do with him.
BEST TEACHER EVER
last semester i failed this class, but with Dakka I had clear understanding. my grade improved from F to A. if you struggling with math i think his the best Prof to take. Completing the sample test he provides you will definitely pass the test. no surprises. His test are at the right level. I appreciate being part of this class.
Offers extra credit at the end of semester for not using your phone in class. Tests are very similar to test reviews. Drops lowest test score. Study and you'll pass with an A.
Try to get higher grade during the semester because at the end he will bring harder questions on the final so work hard. men don't ask a lot of question Ladies you are more capable to ask more question in class.
10/10 math professor!! I've struggled with math my entire life but Dr. Dakka makes it so easy to understand. He provides a sample test that helps a lot. Pay attention in class and you will get and easy A+. He has a great sense of humor and makes math enjoyable. I will be taking his class again for 1150. Amazing teacher!
Mr. Dakka is such an amazing professor. He doesn't assign homework. The class is based on test only. He drops the lowest one. He never moves on without everyone understanding the material. If you need help, before or after class he will always be willing to help. He sets you up for success. Honestly, the study guides are similar to the test.
Dr. Dakka is by far the best math professor that I have ever had. Calculus is not an easy class, but somehow Dr. Dakka makes it very achievable and even fun. It is evident that he wants his students to succeed. Take advantage of the practice exams, as they are similar to the actual exams. Exams are very fair, just do your part and you'll do great!
Professor Dakka wants his students to do well, but you have to put in the work to get a good grade in this class. Calc 1 is not an easy topic, but his explanations and lectures were very clear and he encourages everyone to ask questions. Study, study, study. Calculus aside, Professor Dakka is a great choice.
Professor Dakka is a great math professor, especially since summer classes are only 8 weeks. He always makes sure that everyone knows what they are doing. He also drops the lowest test grade, but make sure to do the tests that he has online from other semesters and you'll be golden. He is not boring, but you cannot miss class or use your phone.
Dr. Dakka is an amazing professor. He only grades tests and he drops the lowest grade. Offers 6 points extra credit if you dont use your phone all semester, which can bump your grade up 6% (A- to A, B- to B). Really would recommend taking him. Hes funny and makes the time fly by. The test are 100% from the lectures, so if you skip you wont pass.
Dakka is a cool teacher. He has an accent but his pronunciation is fine. Class is mandatory. NEVER bring out phone or it will take away from free extra credit points at the end of the semester. Only 4/5 exams the entire semester no homework. Gives study exam on D2L with answers. Just understand the concept and you should be good!
This professor is terrible not take him. Please! Please! Find another professor he does not care about his students.
Dr. Dakka is sincere in his teaching. He is passionate about math and his enthusiasm, although modest, is shared perceptibly enough through interesting footnotes that correspond to each subject before he gets into the working mechanics of it. Simply put, he makes math appreciable no matter what subject the student is decided in. University quality.
good teacher, I took him last semester and it was great! he's very clear when it comes to teaching the material and if you pay attention, its almost a guaranteed A. He's not super energetic but he'll crack a few jokes here and there. Im taking him again this semester because he's a good teacher. He wants you to do well. also no graded homework so..
He is not respectful at all, and he do that on purpose so you don't ask questions at all. get ready for self study.
I found Dr. Dakka to be an excellent professor because he is serious about his job, and wants to see his students succeed. Make sure that you really understand the material covered on each test. On a personal note, I really worked hard in his class. I made sure to ask questions, study a lot, and attend tutoring when I needed it. Good luck!
He moves very fast and and gets frustrated when you do not understand him. Also, he does not seem enthusiastic about teaching you. this class is strictly reciting lecture out of his note.
I'm happy that i chose Dakka again for math. Yes, at the beginning of the year he was moving fast, but he realized his err and smoothed out his lectures to be as clear as i had remembered them. Also, He gave my class a good chance! Most importantly, it is up to you to communicate clearly with him. He stands firm, but is very helpful if you ask!
At first you think this class is going to be like every other math class, and for some people it will be that way. Ive taken 3 class with him and Ive learned that hes a caring professor who wants everyone to succeed, if they are willing to put in the work. Hes a smart guy also with advice. I highly recommend him to people who ARE NOT lazy!
Took him for MAT1150 and MAT1560 and would take him again if needed more math for my degree. He has very clear grading criteria, offeres extra credit on every test and at the end of semester for not using your phone. Do your homework and his tests reviews on D2L and you'll pass!
AMAZING PROF! I wish I could take all my math classes with him. Answers emails, reachable at office hours, clear grading criteria, and didn't require me to get the book. He gives out practice tests that really prep you for his actual tests. NO required homework!!! Studied only my lecture notes and did really well in his class. :)
Normally I struggle with math but I did well with prof. Dakka. He posts lectures and notes for every chapter, reviews and old tests/answer keys from previous classes. It was all on D2L that we could use to prep for the exam. Grade is only based on 5 exams+Final, for my class he dropped the lowest score in favor of the final if you do well on it.
This class was easy considering I had Algebra I, II, Pre-Calc and Trig, AP Stats in high school. Prof Dakka provided videos to review his lecture material. Only referenced for topics that I needed a refresher.
Grade tests in one or two days. No hmwk or quizzes. He doesn't like to reply to student emails, instead he acts mean and does not understand certain situations.. 4 or 5 tests & final aren't too bad. Just try to ask someone of their opinion of his classes before you register. All of the previous reviews are repetitive and no bad reviews at all..
His calc1 class is based on 4 tests and a comprehensive final. He gives back tests grades pretty quick. But he doesnt really seem interested in teaching and responding to student emails. No homework or quizzes, but hmwk is good practice. Just check if other profs are available to teach this class because hes not nice if you wanna contact him.
Do not take this Professor. He does not care about anyone at all. Doesn't listen to students requests, and instead makes tests harder. Shows a bit of arrogance towards some students if they ask any questions. Class notes are hard to follow because lots of steps are skipped. Do not waste your money, wait until a better professor teaches this class.
I literally had to drop the class so it wouldnt affect my 4.0 .. I went off rate my professors but it was a bad idea to take his class. so rude to ppl who ask questions and theres NO homework NO real zooms or teaching just 5 really hard tests , how are we expected to actually learn anything?? Dont take him seriously
Prof Dakka's personality and attitude totally changed this semester. He went from being nice to I don't really care, I just do it cause I have too. 4 Exams including Final are very difficult. He takes like 3 days to grade tests, but is always online on D2l. Schedules random zoom meetings also. Very rude when replying to emails. Never taking again.
Expecting students to be good at calc. No zoom lectures. Tests werent proctored but then in the mid-sem he proctored it. Dont take this class.
Don't take this Prof. Many students take him because they have looked at all of "good" reviews posted earlier. They are so repetitive and say the same thing. He doesn't care at all. Lecture videos are the worst I have ever seen. Only grades tests, and they're difficult. if you tell him to make it a bit shorter, he will add more to it. AVOID!!
Doctor Dakka is a very caring and understanding person. If you treat him with respect he shall do the same. I've read past ratings on him being rude in his emails, but I never once had a bad email experience with him. You need to do the homework if you hope to have any chance passing the class. Nothing in this world is free, study hard!
Whoever keeps flagging my review can stop. I have emailed him many times and have gotten rude responses, and was always nice too. Tests have become very hard and difficult. The homework given is not easy at all, and he could easily grade it but instead is lazy(listen to his voice). The class is just tests, no help is offered to those who struggle.
Unless you're a math guru, I would not recommend. I felt his videos were hard to follow, I went to 3 tutors and they could/would not help me because "his methods are different and they can't teach me something new". He would not answer questions and often noted we should remember methods from last math class. I dropped the class with an F.
TERRIBLE TEACHER!!!! Never helps always makes tests super hard, doesn't want ANYONE to succeed. He is rude and the course overall is just badly executed. Teach yourself everything, only test grades count and they are are super hard all the problems HE DOESNT cover but expects you TO HAVE FOUND THEM IN THE TEXTBOOK. no no no.
Very fair. Tests use equivalent problems to the homework. Gives a lot of partial credit. Very respectful and responsive.
By far the worst prof I have ever had. Do not take this class unless you know all of the material prior and just want to take the proctored tests. He is rude, unwelcoming and difficult. He makes mistakes, and is extremely unorganized. I have straight As and this is the first class I have ever failed. DONT DO IT. You have been warned.
This professor is mostly just there for questions on material but a lot of the learning you do on your own through his lecture videos. You are only graded by the five tests and one final but he does drop your lowest test score. He is strict when it comes to testing but it is understandable. If testing is not a strong suit, don't take his course.
RUDEST PERSON I COULD HAVE EVER MEET. HIS PROBLEMS ARE HARDER THAN THE TEXTBOOKS! NOT EVEN MY HONORS TUTOR COULD UNDERSTAND HIS HORRIBLE WAY OF TEACH. HE SKIPS SO MANY STEPS IN HIS LECTURES, DOES NOT RESPOND TO STUDENTS WHO NEED THE HELP, AND GETS MAD IF YOU DONT GET HIM RIGHT AWAY. HE NEEDS TO RESPECT HIS STUDENTS PERIOD. HIS CLASS IS IMPOSSIBLE.
Do not take this Professor. He might seem nice at first, but can get really angry at you if you email him asking questions or help. He does not understand students abilities or emotions.
Took this Professor for calculus 2, and had one of the worst experiences ever. He was really rude, and angry whenever I emailed him asking a question or concern. Has no understanding of a student’s emotional well being. Tests were ridiculously difficult, proctored after everyone failed first test. Please reconsider your options before taking him
Exams are proctored via zoom, but he had a lot of strange rules that we have to follow. Didn’t know that it’s easy to just stare at your exam paper and not look up once while thinking about the answer.
Took him for Calc 1/2 online during pandemic. While he seemed really nice the first time I took him, his demeanor and attitude totally changed for Calc 2. The exams weren't proctored for first exam, but when we did bad on it, he decided to proctor them. He gave rude email replies also. I won't need to take his classes so Thank God!
The funny thing is this professor always acts super nice and cool during the first-class meetings. But his class is setup really bad. He HATES answering questions, will bring up past students who did bad and mention them which is rude. Class consists of ONLY tests and could have online homework considering the fact it is a college algebra class.
If you struggle in math, get ready to fail. Dakka is NOT the right Prof for those who need math support. Gets frustrated at slow-learners. During lectures he skips several steps and just assumes everyone should know them. He never goes through the entire process. No homework to cushion grade. Extremely difficult tests are the only Grades.
His lecture videos are terrible; he just writes the same notes on new sheets of paper and goes over problems vaguely. He skips a lot of steps and says we should know them. Basically, he doesn't know them either. Also, I think it's pretty rude to talk about students who did bad in your class and mention them to new students. ONLY TESTS and no hmwk.
This teacher is amazing! he is fast in his lectures but if you dont understand something you can always ask him. he is very helpfull and understands students very well. He tries to make it as easy as possible, and always gives extra credit opportunity. I did not even know the terms becouse im an international but he cleared everything up with ease.
He is a bit too paranoid about cheating, and it's to an extent that he's crazy. He used to be a fair grader, but nowadays he just makes up excuses on why he goes fast and is mean. There is nothing to help out our grade, if you do bad on tests, you're screwed. Most professors would use WebAssign for homework for this class but he's definitely lazy.
Very lecture heavy, gives extra credit. Gives quizzes every week or so that are very helpful and have the exact kinds of questions that will be on the test. Gives a list of suggested problems to practice (isn't graded though). His lectures are really fast though so most of my learning came from studying on my own. Would take him for future classes.
dakka is a great professor. I am terrible at math and got an A from his intermediate algebra class. his lectures are very fast and gets frustrating, but he has never ever not once did not help me. whenever I needed help we would zoom or meet in person. his test are just like the old test he posts
My mistake was taking this class online, especially that I struggle in math. I was basically teaching myself which made me to drop the course eventually. I blew the first 2 tests and dropped the class. If you struggle in math take the course in person.
Had to sit through 4 hr lectures on zoom. No credit for anything other than tests and a small portion of homework due at the end of the year. he gives no corrections so you learn literally nothing. also incredibly rude to anyone who asks questions. Makes you feel stupid for even asking.
Prof faced initial disorganization but improved. Provides notes in every class. Homework (50 points) isn't checked for accuracy, a plus. Course is test-heavy, demands focus. Group final project adds to the challenge. Despite difficulty, the professor is respectful, understanding, and encourages questions. Self-study is crucial for success.
I took his Asynchronous online class so it might be a little different. His lecture videos were very messy, I can barely hear or understand his voice but luckily I understand the material through highschool classes and it was kind of like review to me. Homework was a lot but only first 10 questions were graded. Tests were easy with notes.
If you like a professor that is straight to the point and makes learning simple, easy, and effective, take Imad Dakka. The grades were based on 6 tests, including the final and then 10 mini quizzes that equal a test grade. For people who don't have all the time in the world, his teaching style is so straightforward and refreshing. Love love love.
He is very hard. He doesn't assign any homework, goes through everything quickly, and isn't clear. My GPA dropped because of him. I like that he has passion but it is very hard when he doesn't make sense or help you out.
Very hard class, goes over notes very fast, doesn't do any review himself, makes you work with a partner on study guides as review, and final project with a partner as well....Unless your joining with a friend and clear understanding of statistics I wouldn't recommend.
Never will take any classes with him again.
This class is quite challenging, but utilizing resources like Unstuck study alongside the textbook can help. The professor moves quickly, so staying engaged and working with a partner is key. Overall, it's a tough but manageable course if you put in the effort.
Do NOT take this professors class. He rushes through lectures & skips lots of steps while showing examples leaving you to figure it out. Constantly makes mistakes in lectures & skipping microphone. The only thing you are graded on the whole semester is Tests- so good luck if ur not a good test taker- only get 1 chance to show u can do each problem.
This is for MAT 1580-Professor Dakka is a decent professor. He may be sound blunt but it's the nature of how he talks(his culture). I took AP Stats in hs and college statistics is way easier than AP stats. There is hw but they are not required to be completed but there were 13 wks required to be turned in and expect a group project! Exams were easy
Dr. Dakka is very kind, professional and as humorous as a math teacher can be. He was very helpful in answering questions but the class seemed rather rushed. I think Dr. Dakka might provide better instruction if he slowed things down a couple ticks and focused a little more on the fundamentals. The classes move too fast.
Prof. Dakka was a great professor. I was nervous at first because of reviews, but the class wasn't bad. There are 5 tests (including the final) and quizzes due on the final day. He gives practice tests that are just like the real ones. Use the resources, follow his directions, and you'll pass. He drops your lowest test grade too and is lenient.
Lots of UNgraded HW per sec, BUT it's good prep; offers hints be4 each exam -VERY helpful; drops your lowest test grade & substitutes your remaining lowest test grade with your final's score (if the latter's higher). Took PHYS 150 (@UM, got a B+) online for 8 weeks in the 1st session, too, as a NON-engineer. Gives partial credit.
I took the summer course with him for Calc 2; it's a hard class, especially when taken in the summer, as it's half the time of a regular course. However, he seems to understand the situation and was a fair grader, tried to give as much pre-test help as possible, which made a difference on the tests. The first test is pretty brutal fair warning
I ended with a lower grade due to this class only being 7.5 weeks as well as taking another math class at the same time. Lots of content to cover in such a short period of time, however he taught it well! Dakka is accessible, kind, and intelligent. I will definitely be taking classes with him in the future.
