Good Teacher, knows subject, unclear in what she wants remembered
not a good teacher at all doesnt help the people that need to most help at all. She chooses her favorite and helps them and no one else no matter how much help you need.
Makes biology an interesting topic!
Are you guys serious? Her class was one of the most fun I've taken. She's tough, but if she wasn't, I don't think I'd remember half of the things I do.
Class is easy, but she seemed to help some more than others.

Not a good teacher at all. Makes you despise bio even though its a good subject. Why is she still teaching? Take an alternative class or just take this class with another teacher that is fair.
If you haven't had this class yet, you need to consider taking Professor Kelly. She's the best.
She makes you LEARN the material, not just spit the text back at her. If you are a bio major this is your lady. She has a lot of knowledge. She likes things her way, so learn it. I had a blast in her class lookin at critters under the microscope!!!
OK Prof
Was more interested in the subject than the students.
Both courses themselves cover a lot of material. If youre not prepared to study, take a lower level class. She's not easy, I can see how she may be tough for some students, but if youre taking them to 'learn', she's one of the best professors out there.
Extremely difficult teacher but very practical. She really wants you to know the information and practically recite it back to her once she finishes her lecture. It was difficult for me because I need to study before I can memorize the information.
If you do good in the exams, it doesn't mean you are smart, it just means you are lucky. Try to notice what she wrote in the very corner of the white board, she will quiz you on that.....ya....text doesn't matter.
Only Bio 3a teacher. Very difficult class and teacher doesn't narrow down what you need to study so she challenges your study skills. Get along with her because she puts a lot of points into "participation."
Nice lady, very good teacher! You'll love her!

Professor Kelly is one of the best, most caring teachers I've ever had the privilage of being taught by. She's always there if you need help. However, you really have to be willing to work for your grade. But you'll get it, if you try. Effort, mixed with a lot of memorization is the key!
The person below must've been that semesters teacher's pet. Kelly is truly a nice person. But... She doesn't teach in a well-organized manner. Forget the book cause you won't know what chapter you're on. The class isn't that hard, just sucks. Oh, and you'll be there the full 3 hours every lab.
Professor Kelly is an awsome teacher. To get an "A" all you have to do is this: Show up, be interested, know the material. Anything from lecture or your book is fair game on tests. She's a wonderful instructor!
She's great! show up, take notes, & study. Use the CD from text book it is very helpful. All quizes are from notes. She usually let's class out early, but it is to your benefit to stay & examine models for tests.
high school run course..if you don't like speaking in front of people on a regular basis, getting locked out of class for going to the bathroom during lecture, taking a test on a syllabus, and extremely loooong drawn out.lectures..it's more like a public speaking class than biology...she really sucks
She locks you out of the class if you leave during lecture to use the restroom, gives you a test on her syllabus, and her lectures are very looong and slow-moving. She grades based on how much she likes you, not how well you have learned biology...try to find an alternative course if possible...
this class is very hard, and she doesn't tell you what to study for the test, and if she talks about anything in class it could end up on the test. I like biology, and I would've taken it with another porfessor, unfortunately she is the only one who teaches it.
She is hard for me to learn from...some people think she is cool...It is possible to do well in her class but you better have alot of time on your hands to study. darn environmentalists
talk about split personalities!! one minute she's nice the next she's screaming about something totally pointless. she's very condescending and makes you feel like you're back in high school. the labs are easy but watch out for the exams. she's the only gen bio prof @ BC so get used to her.
Rough class folks... this lady probably flunked out of the med field and now has it in for all of us who are aspiring... Not to say the class isn't passable... In fact I got an A but... I've never had to put so many hours into one class... Any word that comes out of her mouth can be on the test, and
This class is very hard. I had so much trouble with her tests. I would tell you to take this class with another teacher, but she is the only one that teaches this class. There is a lot of studying and very strict on attendance. Her grading is unfair, and there is a lot of studying!
What fool actually hired this fraud? This instructor (not professor!) has hypomanic behavior disorders...seriously. ALL POTENTIAL STUDENTS BEWARE - AVOID THIS IMBECILE! Devlin-Kelly has been reported several times to the department head but nothing still has been done.

She's not that bad. If your a guy, most likely you will do good. Become her friend and things will go smooth.

very cool prof. would recommend her class.
She was CRAZY! she flips out if anyone should have to use the restroom during class. She one time yelled at one of my former classmates b/c he got up to use the restroom. She thought he had a cell phone in his hand when he left, and when he got back he tried to explain to her that they were only sunglasses(and yes they were sunglasses, i was sitting behind him) she told him to zip it and continued to call him rude and distractful she on the other hand needs glasses, she unfortunately wasnt wearing em'.
She is all for favorites, which can kill you if you don't suck up.
She tests on your ability to take tests. You can study for hours and get a few trick questions that will trow you off. Be prepared, she plays favorites, don't be an idiot and kiss her ass. She treated me like**** until the first test, now she is sweet as can be to me. Its not hard, just a heads up.
Prof. Kelly is a good teacher. If you put effort into the class then you should be fine. She will be able to answer most of your questions if you just ask. Basically, you aren't going to get an A if you don't give A effort.
This class is one of the hardest classes you will ever take. She doesn't explains things well and you might as well kiss butt to try to pull off with a decent grade. She puts random things on her tests and her lectures are so boring. I saw that they have another Bio 3A teacher coming up and I would suggest to take with her.
Shes wierd, can flip out in a moment and be back to normal in less then 3 seconds. she really is all for favorites, put in the effort, and you can get a good grade, very time consuming class, trick lecture tests, make sure you write EVERYthing down.
I think she tries to be very helpful if you actually take the class seriously. And I LOVE the podcasts--it is great to be able to replay lectures.
really hard class, tricky lecture questions, tricky lab questions, very trickyyyy.
Her lectures were fairly short, but boring and unclear. I worked really hard to study for her tests, but a she added questions about information she never discussed with us. She was pretty approachable though and would explain things to you.
Chaotic lecture, no order.Book doesn't match what she wants you to know.Wastes time on basic concepts/info.Poor attitude when she feels she is being challenged, takes it personally, talks down to students,is wrong or cofused more than should be.Not always clear on what is xpected of students.Test?s can be unclear and cost you important points.BEWARE!
cunfusing delivery style
confusing
write everything down her exams are just her lectures. don't even look at the book. listen to podcasts. over and over. go to the lab at your own time ESPECIALLY for exam 2 everything you do in class WILL BE ON THE EXAM. get tutoring even if your an A student it helps to learn her tricks.
Bio is my major and this was my first real class at BC. She really scared the crap out of me. I worked hard and I got more out of the class then just a grade. I totaly agree that if you take her you should work hard. but that doesn't mean suck up just do the extra credit and apply yourself and you should do well.
IF you want an easy A don't take this class. Professor kelly scared the crap out of me with the letter she sent out and I am greatfull for it. I learned more then just biology from this class. I learned what it was like to be a student. If you don't talk to her and don't care about the class you will not do well. The comments I read on here that ba
Warning, mentally imbalanced!!! Disrespectful to students constantly, you are whale****to her (nothing lower than that). Her lectures are poorly structured, she will bounce back and forth. You cannot use information you find in the textbook. What she says will not match, you can't prove her wrong under any circumstances;your grade will suffer!!!
This was a HORRIBLE CLASS! She is rude and disrespectful of students. She looks down upon students and will easily judge them and roll her eyes. Her tests SUCK! They're very specific and she doesnt tell you exactly what to expect. Plan on devoting your ENTIRE life to this class! AVOID IF POSSIBLE! X tra credit will not help but hurt ur grade!
She is intimidating and that is the sum total of all complaints made. I loved this class, I took it very seriously and got a good grade. Dont take it if your not sure about school or biology, it is a waste of your time and hers. She tries hard to give good grades in a hard class and partispation counts a lot with her. Hard class but worthwhile.
This is one of the newest class in BC and she is teaching it! What a horrible teacher. She doesnt know what she is talking about. She is rushing through everything and not answering any questions. Terrible teacher! She may have bipolar diosder or something. Her mood swings back and forth all the time. Worst teacher I have ever encounter. Test are h
DO NOT TAKE PROFESSOR KELLY! She talks bad about students while they are in the classroom. She makes her tests extremely hard. She has control issues. I can only say one good thing about her and that is that she knows her material. She does a lot of put downs! TAKE PROFESSOR HERD!

Not an easy class but not an easy subject; all the stuff you learn in her class will come back in other courses. Professor Kelly is great, she really goes above and behond answering any questions you have or discussing things with you. She showed interest in my goals and though Im no longer in her class she still helps me when I have questions or
She is very understanding. She helped me with my class schedule when I got my first got my first job as an RN. The class has been a great recall of pathophys concepts. It will be helpful for pre-Rn students
Get ready for a really hard class. She is not the best teacher in my opinion. Like a lot of other people have said, she is VERY rude and has A LOT of mood swings. I never had trouble with her. Kept my mouth shut and did not ask any questions. I listened and took notes. If you get on her bad side you WILL regret it. She can be down right MEAN.
She's a good teacher, but if you aren't ready to devote a lot of time to the class then you're not going to pass. She doesn't like it when people talk a lot or mess around in class, if you want to take the easy route take Hurd, but you'll be less prepared in the future, Kelly's tests are hard, especially the practical, but it's worth the work.
Do not take this teacher under any circumstances!!!!! She is the biggest B**ch I have ever seen. She will disrespect you whenever she can. She is the most unorganized teacher and will yell at you if you don't do something exactly as she would have done it. Hello, their are different types of learners and this is only a gen. bio class way to hard!!!
Taking gen bio with devlin-kelly is like taking a comm class! A lot of lab time was wasted, and she gets extremely upset if you leave early. I wished she would have spent more time explaining the material because the tests are damn near impossible, on account of the questions having multiple answers.
Tough, but a good teacher.
Not a very nice teacher and not very helpful. Her test are nothing like her notes or the book. I couldn't even match her notes with the book and she expects you to listen to her and not take notes from her lectures. And if you take notes while she is lecturing, she will yell at you. Class is hard but she makes it harder then what it needs to be
This is a very tough Biology class. But getting an A is not impossible, there were like 6 A's in my class alone my semester. You have to memorize a lottt, but it isn't hard. I am not a good memorizer, but create a system to memorize. I got in a group, in which one person took pics, and another made notes. worked out well. make sure u group study!
Best professor Ever!!!!
If you want a good grade in this class then it will completly consume your life. As a professor she can be pretty frustrating at times. However you can tell that she loves biology!
Its a tough class but as long as you pay attention and memorize you will be ok. Her tests were primarily based off her lectures and practicals from the lab. lab practicals were difficult for me. Just pay attention to her and not so much the book. also podcasts from her class are very helpful. take intensive notes.she will NOT yell at you if you do.
She does not answer questions. When you ask she seems to not understand the question and talks about something completely different. She talks a lot and not in a good way. She is passionate about Biology, but I felt like I did not learn very well in her class. Would not take her again.
She is a horrible teacher, she cannot relay information well when questioned. She litterally will yell at you and call you out on the spot if you ask a question that she feels is a waste of her time. the learning environment is uncomfortable. I would NOT recommend this teacher to anyone.
Great teacher...made Biology interesting...
Prof kelly is by far the worst prof i have ever had! DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!She acts as if her students should have Masters degrees in Bio already! she never answers questions and is VERy unorganized! I got a B in her class BARELY!! she picks favorites and Makes her tests impossible to pass... I GIVE HER AN F!!!
Not the easiest class to take at BC, but if you're a Biology major it shouldnt be tough. This class is for people who are serious about a career that involoves Bio. Prof Kelly teaches what you need to know about the subject. People who complain are lazy and need to work for a good grade not expect to show up to class and get an A
She's tough but fair. Prepare to follow her instructions to the letter and study hard because the material is dense.
Good professor who made lectures interesting. Engaging, although doesn't like answering stupid questions. Overall, I would take her again.
Her tests are somewhat difficult --more so than most other tests you'll encounter at BC -- but they are manageable. Me and my buddy both received A's when we took her class, but we took it serious. I think I would of got a B if I had let up, but I'm glad I didn't. I you have a choice I would recommend choosing another professor.
She never answered any questions. Very hard grader. I would never recommend her to anyone else, take the other teacher.
This was a tough course, but it was extremely interesting and fun. Although Kelly is hard, it's because she wants you to learn. The material from this class stays with you forever. I can sincerely say that I wish I could take it again. One of the best profs at BC.
She records her lectures and downloads them online for your use. So useful and got an A in lecture because of that. I could never follow her in lab, never had an idea what was going on.
She is the WORST TEACHER EVER! I love biology and she made me hate it! Don't take her ! Don't Do it ! don't Do it ! PLEASEE DONT!
Kelly is a tough lady BUT she is fair and teaches well. keep your head down and STAY BUSY otherwise she will screech at you. an A in this course is very possible!
Be prepared for your life to revolve around this class. you seriously have to study on a strict daily basis in order to do even remotely well in this class. It is impossible to simply show up and get an A. She is definitely the most difficult teacher i have had at bc. I do not recommend her. Please, take the other teacher.
This class is definitely not easy. It was the hardest B I've ever learned. However it turned out to be my favorite class I've taken yet. Kelly is fairly tough but fair. She is actually a great teacher. All you need to do is pay attention to lecture and do the Lab Manual. Anything she says/is on the manual is fair game for the exams. Just study.
By far the most challenging I've had, but it is possible to pass as long as you set your mind to it! Listen to the podcasts, read over the lab manuals, attend open labs, take good notes, and read ahead :)
Worst professor on campus. Take a different one. Kelly doesn't care about her students. Has her TAs teach the class.
I'm not an actual Bio major, but I have to say Prof. Kelly made this class fun, along with the intensive learning. Do your best, STUDY, and above all, show up to class! An A is possible, I ended up with a B, since I slacked off a bit lol. Take this class seriously and you'll definitely get the grade you desire (:
