The class is semi interesting and his test are crazy. You have to read web pages after web pages for the tests and most of the question you will have never heard of anyway. I had to drop the class.

He's not that bad for Cultural Diversity. You get really into the course because some of the things he says are hilarious.
He really makes you think and work hard, but it's worth it. he's got a strange sense of humor but still funny. 270 is a good course for Planners.
the class was very difficult for the first half of the semester, but after that is a piece of cake. The class really makes you think, and I really got a lot out of the class, despite all my cursing and grumbling in the first half of it, I'm glad I took it

fasinating class at times. Can be difficult at times but his grading scale is awesome. 80% is an A-. However, only 2 kids in my class got A's and a lot of people dropped and a lot of other people stuck with it but payed the consiquences.

The only reason I'm glad I took the course was because it was an easy A, blow-off course. I was in the web-based section... everything was explained online on his webpage. It was a breeze. But the guy is kinda dumb and not that great of a prof.
Spare yourself and do not take.....Not fun at all!!!
He will give you an interesting perspective on everything. I learn a lot from this class, especially to think more open-mindedly.
This was the worst professor I have ever had. His lectures make you fall asleep and what he talks about doesn't even relate to the class. He refuses to help his students understand projects and assignments. He does not offer extra credit and is an overall jerk. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!
Kind of frustrating class but you learn a lot and he helps a great deal. More helpeful if you go see him during his office hours.

Ingolf is a great guy. If you have a question ASK IT! He's very helpful once you ask and he'll provide you with all the information you need to get an easy A. Go see him during office hours. It helps a lot. He teaches you more than geography, it has helped me deal with getting through college!
I've heard web based is an easy; HOWEVER, I didn't take web based. We never knew exactly what was expected of us, especially for tests. Studied a lot, but some of his test material wasn't covered. He goes on tangets and rants and raves about his problems with America, the University, etc. don't take

very challenging and comedic in a unique way. Most will argue this but I learned more from him than any other professor at UWEC. Yes he is a little nutty in his ways but the depth of knowlege gained is unquestionable. Voegler for president!
This is not a politics course, this is a geography course, please teach it like one. I could read your crazy website by myself and probably learn just as well. Also you probably scared about a dozen students by getting up in their faces when you ask them questions, if they answer wrong you insult their intelligence by verbally putting them down.
very opinionated, but that opinion is backed up with facts. Most people that love his class are liberal, those that hate it are conservative. You will learn SOO much in the class. Show up, pay attention, do your reading, you will do fine. This class/guy changed my life. it should be a required class at UWEC

He is an okay prof. His tests aren't easy but the online quizzes are cuz you can cheat to get an A. Let's you chose between 3 options for grading. Projects are long and confusing. He can be entertaining to listen to during lecture. Check out his Facebook group! Definetly take this class with a friend or two. Also attendence isn't mandatory!
Unique world view makes the course interesting. College is about being exposed to unique thought, and this prof measures up.
I loved this class. It challanged me and made me think in new ways. I would recommend this class with this professor to anyone who is willing to learn something new. Also, Vogeler is a real cool guy and has some very interesting perspectives on the world. (he's been like everywhere)
I thought this class was going to be somewhat interesting. But to my surprise it was boring, confusing and the tests are impossible. He gives negative points for not turning in work and basically does not know how to teach this class.
This man is brilliant! Your views on the world will be greatly expanded. The only downside is the project. Just read directions carefully and you will get an A on it though, I did!! Take Vogeler!

This guy is...unusual. Ok, he's a nutball. His tests are literally impossible, and I find his teaching methods very ineffective. I have learned next to nothing in this class. However, I have enjoyed some of his bizarre rants, uninhibited use of language, and shocking one-liners. Avoid this professor if you plan on taking Human Geog. 111.

He likes to ofend people and insult your intelligence when you get a question wrong. his directions suck. don't take, I made the mistake of staying in it and now I am stuck, struggling for a c. vogelr for ****bag of the year!
He is a great prof and knows whats going on! He has been to many places and can relate to anything he talks about. Tests are pretty hard but the curve is great and the info is interesting.
He's a brilliant man. He tends to say things that people don't like, but they are true, and he never tries to force feed us material. There is a lot of work involved, but it's inteteresting, and he is very nice with the curve.
Great class. Expect to work hard. Ask him if you can use notes on the test and he'll let you ("Ask and you shall receive"), but you still won't do very well because his tests are crazy hard. If you pick the grading scale with both projects, expect work at least 15 hrs on each. Reading responses don't need to be correct, do them and you get credit.
I had this guy for class on September 11, 2001. He downplayed the destruction and death and informed us it was a "so-called" terrorist attack. Oh... he also has little to nothing good to say about the U.S. Why does a foreigner choose to teach in this country and then badmouth it? I dropped his class on 9/11 and purposely avoided him afterwards.
Horrible professor, not very clear or direct in directions. Didn't even make an attempt to understand the miscommunication from the rediculously round about and not straight forward directions. Do not take if you have the choice.

Brilliant man; I don't think anyone can debate that. But, his teaching methods are not very efficient. He is unclear on his assignments and what will be on tests. The tests consist of questions no one knows the answers to and the best guessers prevail, then he curves the hell out of the test. He also talks down to students sometimes also.
Dr. Vogeler is a very interesting professor. He loves what he does and he wants you to love it too. He doesn't believe in handing over A's to everyone (although I worked hard and got one) so be prepared to study and actaully try for your grade!

He is brilliant. His class is extremely objective and for those who are willing to think. He is absolutley hilarious except to those who aren't comfortable with outrageous humor. His tets are hard, and I think this class is probably really hard for those who aren't geography majors. He is so knowledgeable and has such a progressive thought process.
I went into to Human Geography thinking it was going to be so interesting, but I was devastated once I found out I might as well had signed up for a computer class! He is the opposite of helpful and a thorn in my side. DO NOT HAVE HIM FOR YOUR FYE PROF
Vogeler is an AMAZING instructor BUT you must be grown up enough to understand him. I ABSOLUTELY loved his geog188 class and would take any class he offers! His tests are difficult only if you don't know your material. He is fair.Honest & if you understand his personality, he is hilarious. I now consider him a friend and highly recommend him!

AWESOME. He has a lot of knowledge to share. His tests are hard but out of 100 ?'s he only grades the first 60 correct ones, so if you know the material you can do very well. He doesn't hand out A's you must work for one.Some of the assignments are confusing but,it is his way of knowing what material to go over in more detail. Loved Him!!!

I had many apprehensions taking this class due to the negative feedback I've gotten from friends. However this class was extremely interesting! He's traveled to many places so he has a lot of knowledge to share. He makes you work for your grade but what you gain hopefully is a a better awareness of the world.
The guy repeatedly tells you that you need to learn how to do things if you want to earn college graduate type money. The only problem with his class is: YOU DON'T LEARN ANYTHING unless you don't know how to follow directions exactly how he gives them. Check out his website if you want to see a project that you'll have to do and try to read it.
He makes the most ridiculous comments... Some times good, sometimes bad. I think that he is a hard grader, but I liked the indepentent work. Also, I thought that he gave out too much work for only three credit class.

He is a very interesting person. At first he is a bit difficult, but once you get to know his teaching style, his class isn't too bad. Don't be afraid to argue a grade, he usually gives you the points if you challenge him. His lectures keep you awake with his strange comments. Oh, and never ask him if he has a stapler.

I took the FYE geography class which is computer based rather than lecture based and from what i heard, a lot easier and more fun. this class got a little boring, only doing project after project and some projects were kind of ridiculous,but overall it was fun and i met many new friends through events our mentor did with the class.
I liked Vogeler for his GEOG 111.401 class. I can see why others would not, however. He is rather eccentric... monotonous, outragous, loud, and just plain weird. But I thought he was a decent professor, even though his projects tended to be on the rediculous side.
I was in his computer course a while back and I gotta say this guy is something. I learned absolutely nothing in class; talks about life, and thinks that everyone knows the answers but they are hidden within ourselves. I did the required work and I received a B so if you want an A, you're gonna have to exceed his expectations. Not recommended.

This guy loves what he does. His lectures were super interesting and I actually looked forward to the class. The tests were easy because you could use books/computers and on the final you could use groups as big as you wanted. I found him super interesting and would definitely take him again and I had no interest prior to taking this class
He tends to use his podium as a pulpit. His expectations are high, but he does not make clear what they are. He is difficult to communicate with.

This guy is terrible. His assignments are very confusing and he will not explain them. Just tells you to look online. He fills class-time with his own opinions on things so class time is useless. A lot of reading. Basically avoid this professor. He is no help at all in any way. I ended up dropping just to get away from him.
Vogeler is hilarious. He's very good at pointing out things in the world that just don't make any sense. Athough he is a pretty tough grader, he's still good. He's super interesting, and if you just do what he wants you can get a pretty good grade.

Prof. Vogeler is the worst teacher I have EVER had. He is rude; he makes false assumptions left and right. The assignments and the corresponding webpages are difficult to decipher and navigate. He is not funny, at all. His assignments are busy work. He does not provide help as requested. Do not take this professor. Go out of your way to avoid him!!
Ingolf Vogeler is the man!!! Great teacher! Great sweaters! Completely cynical but if you enjoy his humor you will love him. If not... figure that out quick because it will only get worse.
Vogeler is such a character! i really loved his class he is super fun and likes when people speak up. I never talked in the class but still enjoyed it. The assignments can be a bit challenging but they go along well with the course material. His outfits are super legit
I'm not really sure anything Vogeler talked about during the lectures had anything to do with the exams. However, out of the 3 exams we took, 2 of them were open book. So it didn't matter that much. Also, when occassionally homework is assigned (interpreting maps from the library!) it can be confusing. I reccommend working with a group.
Vogeler is a very interesting person. He is really smart and there isn't a day in class that I don't learn something new from him. The projects do take some time but two out of three of his tests are open book. You take a trip to the cities which was fun and educational. Plenty of time needs to be set aside for this class but it is worth it.
Vogeler is a very intresting guy. You will NOT agree with everything he says that is for sure. There is no text book and the projects take much longer then you would expect, even though I found class intresting, NOT USEFUL! He can be very rude, and I have forwarded some emails to the dean of students. I would not take his class.somanybetteroptions!
I took Prof. Vogeler for my first semester ever in UWEC paired with some other difficult classes and this was a huge mistake. He's an overly opinionated but very successful "traveler", not professor. The level of intellect he expects from a gen.ed. class is overbearing and can easily overwhelm while taking tough classes as well.
Very tough prof. Very rude and can come off very arrogant. Some interesting topics in the class, but try to get a different prof for this course. His projects are VERY detail oriented and time consuming. This was a partially online course so tests can be taken with others. Good luck...

I'm in this geography & films class with him. It's the biggest waste of time in my life. It has nothing to do w/ geography, just making Power Points in the exact way that he wants. You have to be able to read his mind. He is very bad at explaining what he wants and is very picky. He is wrong a lot, but you have to do it how he thinks it is. Avoid!
He's a horrible professor and a horrible person. He does not care about any students or learning of any kind. He is very arrogant. His EXACT way or the highway. No room for individual thought or creativity. Even when he's wrong (often) he's right (in his eyes). He will probably not be "teaching" for many more years. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Do not take!
Stay away from anything he teaches! He is not clear on what he wants from students, expecting them to read his mind. He does not help you when you need it, instead he goes off on tangents talking and answering questions you did not ask. He puts you down if he thinks that your question is stupid or not worth his time. Overall terrible professor.
This guy is just horrible all around. Completely delusional. VERY boring class, you don't learn anything, and you get a bad grade. The rare times when he posts grades he sends out emails with everyone's grades and not a single person in my class has an A. He must have tenure because I have no idea why he is teaching. Take anyone else for this class! He is hard to follow, says he hates textbooks and doesn't require one, only to put HIS on D2L and expect you to print and read it (it is impossible to read on D2L) I am retaking this class with another professor this semester and am learning something now!! Run, don't walk, away from this professor!!
This class was half online half in class. Professor Vogeler was a very confusing teacher, and I was very disappointed with this class. We were required to watch films in order to learn the geography of each place, and our assignments were power points. If you are not familiar with powerpoint do not take his class. No tests besides power points.

Prof. Vogeler is a very smart guy. You might not agree with everything he has to say but its uncommon that you will with any professor. When taking this class you need to have an open mind and critically evaluate what he says on your own. Tests are relatively easy but projects are graded in a strange way. Its challenging but fun and very relevant.

I actually hated this professor. He doesn't think it's necessary to talk about assignments until they are due, is very insulting during classes (toward the elderly, different majors, and America among others), his website, which all assignments are based on, is the worst I've ever seen, and ALL OF HIS INFORMATION IS 15-20 YEARS OLD!!!
Prof. Vogeler was an incredibly hard teacher to deal with. His website is as old as I am. So of the links are so outdated they either don't work or bring you to a completely different website. He's also very confusing in his instructions. If possible, avoid him. He's passionate about geography and world travel, though.
Super easy class. He's kind of weird but loves what he talks about so it is entertaining. All online exams and super easy assignments. If you need an easy GE take this.
He has a lot of strange views, but I actually learned a lot from this class. Very interesting material, if you can pay attention. All exams are online and open book, note, google, etc.
Must, must, must conform to his standards. Papers have to be two columns, powerpoints must have animations... even if it looks terrible, just go with it. He's an interesting person and usually worth listening to the lectures.

I got a kick out of his website for this class. I believe the expiration date on it ended in the late 90s maybe even earlier, ha. Classic college professor though in the way he talks and goes about things so it could be a long semester for most of you if you are looking for the easy way out.
His tests were completely irrelevant to anything we read in class. He is honestly the most opinionated professor I have ever had. His information and websites were very out of date. I do not recommend him unless you want to listen to his political opinions and other useless information that has nothing to do with human geography. Avoid him!
Vogeler is a strange guy. He is very opinionated, often times insulting, and only gives his own opinions. His websites are extremely out of date and confusing. But here's the best part, attendance is not mandatory and he has everything online. I only went to 2 lectures at the beginning of the semester and got a B. he makes 75 percent an A. Easy!
This professor is really fantastic. He says thing that most people will probably take offense to. But, as I talked with him outside of class, he was there for me and comical and once i opened up his criticism on everything, the class became better for me. He seems to always have maps in our homework but is lenient for your grading. Dry humor :)
If you are taking human geography with Vogeler be prepared to walk away knowing little to no information about human geography. Spent the first half of the semester distinguishing between conservatives, liberals, and radicals in which he made us read and answer questions from HIS book. Test questions are random and outdated. Do NOT take this class.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! THE TESTS ARE SO HARD!!! A group of 18 students took test #2 together and they all collectively could not do better than a 60%... IM SERIOUS, TAKE THIS CLASS WITH ANY OTHER TEACHER!! I read the comments on here thinking it wouldn't be that bad BUT IT WAS AWFUL!!!! It was suppose to be a 100 level class and it def. was not!

Havent had a Test yet and already regretting this class. I would love to study for this exam but I wouldnt know where to begin. I have never been so unprepared for an exam and I dont have any way of changing it.
Overall, very interesting and enjoyable. Every lecture kept me interested and was full of information relevant to overall daily life and the world. Very passionate and smart guy! Has his views but doesnt everyone? Says things people are too scared to say but are relevant topics in todays society.
Lectures are absolutely pointless for the test. He is extremely opinionated and teaches of politics often. He talks about everything he believes the republicans have done wrong in history. Don't take this class, I'm begging you just DON'T.
I took this class because I needed it for general credit but I HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO NOT TAKE THIS if you aren't interested in Geography. This class is pretty much his time to have show and tell about all of his trips. His power points have very few words and are pretty much just a photo album of his trips. TESTS ARE HARD, and get ready to read kids!
Take a different class or professor if you're able to. This professor shoves his political views so far down your throat they come straight out of your ass. I never used the atlas for this class so don't even bother getting it. The tests have nothing to do with lectures and are extremely hard. You will want to cry the whole semester.

Ingolf Vogeler is by far the worst professor I have ever had. He is sexist, racist, and he expects you to know things you were never taught. The only way to pass this class is to do all of his online tests with a group of people. I would not recommend taking any class with him unless you enjoy being yelled at about random topics for all of lecture
This class pretty much consists of a man preaching to you his political biases and bashing on anything that doesn't conform to his standards. if you're stuck in this class, just get a bunch of people together and take the tests as a group (trust me). the lectures have nothing to do with the tests so attendance is pointless.

As Ingolf will have proven that in comparison everyone is a genius.
I had Ingolf Vogeler this past semester. I WILL NEVER TAKE A CLASS WITH HIM AGAIN. He is very opinionated and preaches his own beliefs to the people that attend his lectures. His lectures do not even cover what is on his tests. The only way to pass or even get a remotely good grade is to look up EVERYTHING. Horrible professor.
Talk about a strange man. All the assignments are graded on completing just make sure you email them to him. Many of the questions are nothing he goes over in class for the online quizzes and exams. Highly recommend finding a group in the class to work together on them! If you work with others you will for sure pass this class with a high B/A
This class REQUIRES minimal effort. YOU MUST WORK WITH A GROUP OF PPL TO GET A GOOD GRADE. when taking exams you should have his website open with as many TABs as you can. He has links hidden within links on his webpages. USE THIS. you can succeed if you do this.
