She was a great professor and I went into Accounting knowing nothing and heard all the horror stories about how it was the worst pass rate on campus. Honestly, take good notes and STUDY for the exams, you'll be fine. She's a decent teacher and will answer your questions pretty thoroughly. STUDY in accounting and you will pass.
Dr. Heart is a very nice person. Anytime I talked to her it was a positive experience for the most part. HOWEVER the class that I am in is an absolute zoo. She will get off topic or take way to long to explain simple material whole glossing over more complex concepts. Lastly the overall organization of the class is not good.
She seems nice, but this class is absolute chaos. She lectures on stuff she is knowledgeable about, but then goes and tests you on stuff she never explained and did not lecture on. The tests are not well organized, it is an excel class but you are tested on paper about where to access stuff on microsoft excel. Avoid if you can.
This class is one of the hardest classes I have ever taken in college because I feel like the lectures were completely unrelated to the material in most circumstances. In addition, the exams were literally impossible and the average is failing most of the time. I literally put so much work into this class and not even getting certified in Excel...
Dr. Hart is rude and class is an absolute disaster. She is completely unclear about everything and it is very hard to do well in this class. I generally enjoy school, and she made me dread going to class every time.
She was rather aloof to some of the problems in the class, such as when our final exam is---when we were in the last week of class. She is pretty witty and funny, but also gets PO'd. MyITLab is a pain in the ass, and there's no way to get a 100%.
Dr. Hart often taught things that were completely unrelated to the exams themselves. She seems to not really understand some of the problems she works out in class, which just leads to leaving class more confused than when you walk in. Plain and simple, can't teach.
Dr. Hart is the most unorganized professor I have ever had. She does not take criticism well and blames the poor test grades on the students. The textbook is useless. She would tell us to bring our laptops to class then not use them. If not that, she would use the last 3 min of class to administer a quiz. Would NOT recommend if you have options.
Dr. Hart often seems very flustered (first year teaching this course). The exams are poorly structured and so are the classes. Our class averages for the exams are NOT PASSING. I think the fact that a large majority of the class is concerned about getting a C+ at the least says a lot about this course. Oh and we got no Excel certification.
Dr. Hart is nice prof to talk to. However, her classes are sometimes very disorganized. There were times where she didn't teach a section but still put it on the test. She is also very fast in her lectures so its hard to keep up sometimes.
Dr. Hart seems like a nice, professional business woman. However, this class was absolutely awful. It was her first time teaching it, so I tried to cut her some slack... but each class was SO disorganized and it seemed like test material came out of no where. Weekly MyITLabs, so the textbook is required. Assigned seats for attendance.
Dr. Hart is not a very good professor. She is extremely unorganized and acts like she has never taught a class before. She would intentionally embarrass students for being late to class, but showed up late herself multiple times. Her exams were ridiculous and inaccurate to what she taught in class. If at all possible, avoid taking her.
Only leaving a review because she is the worst teacher I have ever had! Im a senior and this is the only c I have ever gotten. She is unorganized, rude, and just plain confusing.
I just had Dr. Hart for BUAD242 and it was her 1st semester teaching it ever. She is very smart, but she did NOT understand how to handle this many students and teach the information efficiently. Classes went over every class, exams were tricky wording, and I am not leaving this class feeling like I learned everything I should. STUDY FOR THE TESTS.
If you are able to, stay away from Dr. Harts classes. She is not certified in excel so her knowledge on the matierial is not great! Her classes are so disorganized and sometimes we are on our own to learn the material when it comes to studying for exams. There were a few chapters that she didnt teach at all and it showed up on the exams!!
Dr. Hart is easily the worst teacher I've ever had at any school. I would commonly speak to her -- after class, in her office hours, and even before I turned in my final exam. She was always dismissive and defensive --blaming my concerns on me not trying, not her poor teaching. Doesn't know excel well enough to teach it. Just barely scraped an A.
Most do not give Dr. Hart enough credit. The way the class is set up itself is ridiculous which makes it hard to teach and easy to pass on blame. While the class could have been organized better, Dr. Hart did truly care.
The only bad teacher Ive ever had at my time at UT, but my goodness she is terrible. Doesnt care about her students at all, hard to talk too and comes off very rude with everything she says. Doesnt respond to emails until multiple days later and could care less about whats going on in your life. Stay away
Professor Hart is intimidating to say the least. Not a lot to be graded off, but the group projects are graded heavily. There is no study guide or practice test, and the material on tests is very unclear. I would suggest taking this course with a different professor.
One of my favorite professors ever!! She cares about each of her students and genuinely wants them to succeed. This was my first accounting class and I loved it. My understanding of the subject came from her solely, so for me to not only understand it, but truly enjoy it, really attests to her ability as a professor and a mentor. Would take again.
I would avoid taking her online courses if at all possible. She is a horrible communicator. I was so frustrated the whole class. The material itself really wasnt as hard as everyone makes it out to be. This class was just hard because of her lack of clarity in communication. I had to work extremely hard just to understand what she was wanting.
By far one of my favorite professors. She cares deeply about her students and gets test anxiety for them thats how much she cares! Accounting is known to be extremely difficult so buckle up and try to succeed.
Prof Hart is a great 311 teacher. I had heard some horror stories from students who took 242 with her, but I was pleasantly surprised by this class. Prof Hart is passionate about the subject and always wanting to help see her students succeed. Study notes and multiple choice practice problems for the exams and you'll be fine.
Dr. Hart is one of the few teachers that have inspired me to do better in college in general. she is an amazing teacher and lecturer who is one of the smartest people i have ever met. People Do not like this class because it is difficult, but if you go to office hours and talk to her, you will do so well. She is a great/funny person to get to know
This class was hard, but Dr. Hart works harder. She genuinely cares about your success in the class and will do everything that she can to help you do well. Most reviews on here seem to come from people who did bad and blame Dr. Hart for their lack of effort. If you choose to put in the amount of effort Dr. Hart does, you will certainly pass.
Dr. Hart is a professor I have a lot of respect for. She took very detailed notes to help when studying. She went out of her way to help me get a study plan together and showed me the importance of reviewing our quizzes. Dr. Hart is a professor who tries to get to know her students on a personal and professional level. She is an amazing professor.
Dr. Hart is an amazing professor and I absolutely loved taking her class. She really cares about her students and will spend time with you and actually help you understand. Accounting is hard in general period and it requires work so do not blame her for that. She is funny and you can ask her any questions you have; there are no dumb questions.
She would not let us go back and forth on quiz questions until halfway through the course. 8 of our 10 quizzes had some technical/grading error. Her recorded lectures often contained incorrect info. She did try to mitigate errors, but none of her attempts were particularly effective. A for effort. F for, "Accounting is F-un!"
Dr. Hart is an amazing professor. I took Dr. Hart's ACCT 311 class and could not have been more satisfied with her lectures, extra help, and accessibility. Dr. Hart got a bad rep for her excel class but she is an amazing lecturer for accounting, and really cares about the material and the success of her students. If you have the chance, take her.
Dr. Hart is one of THE most caring professor's I have had at at UTK. She truly wants to see all of her students succeed, however is her class easy? No. But if you want to pass she will make sure you do, and will see your hard work. You have to work hard in her class, and she is a tough teacher but she is the BEST professor.
She does not respond to emails quickly and is very unorganized. You learn a lot of material, but it is not a class I would recommend. She did not grade properly to the rubric that she gave us for our only project. She offers 3 tests each weighted 25% so if you do bad on any one of the 3 it can mess up your grade very early on in the semester.
Professor Hart is a good person that is passionate about what she does. That being said, the material is extremely difficult and the lectures dont do well at explaining in depth what is going on and are very rushed. She gives weekly quizzes on the chapter you cover that week. Very limited time is given, so you better be over-prepared for them.
I cannot say enough about how awesome Dr. Hart is! Yes, the class is hard, but she does her best to make it easy and understandable for everyone. She offers help outside of the class as well. If you have any difficulties, go to her office hours and discuss with her. She is kind and very understanding! I will definitely recommend her to everyone!
One of the best Professors I have ever had! This class is tough, but she does her best to make it easier. Visit her on her office hours if you have difficulties. She is very supportive, friendly and just a kind soul! She gives extra credits, so show up and do your work!! I recommend her to anyone and everyone that wants to learn accounting!
Not very organized, waits until the last minute to assign projects and would give a 12 step process to solve 2+2. Very confusing and over complicated the material, your best bet is YouTube and the TA. Good luck and Go Vols!
Dr. Hart is one of, if not the most, amazing professors at the University of Tennessee. Her passion for her craft, as well as for the success of her students, is unparalleled. She cares about so much more than what goes on within the classroom walls. You will not find a better professor and advocate anywhere. I HIGHLY recommend taking her courses!!
Dr Hart's lectures are the best lectures I have ever been apart of. She gives note taking guides that are very helpful and she tells you exactly what will be on the exams. The course material is difficult but she teaches it in the best possible way. She is also the most genuine professor I have ever had. I cannot recommend Dr. Hart enough for 204.
Dr. Hart is one of the best professors I have had at UT and has helped me so much in accounting. The class is difficult and you will have to work for it, but she will always make time to meet with you if you need help. I cannot recommend enough meeting with her during office hours because she cares about you and your success more than you know.
She is very engaging during lectures. It is just amazing to see her energy while lectures. She is really kind hearted and would help out everyone with any kind of problem.
As a junior at UTK, I have had many teachers. Dr. Hart is one of my favorites I have ever learned under in my collegiate career. She is flexible and works with the students, she has her students' best interests at heart, and she works hard to teach us academic and personal life skills that will we use outside of her class.
Dr. Hart is an incredible professor and truly cares about each of her student's success. You should expect rigorous quizzes and exams in this class, but all of the work that you complete for this class is for a purpose. While this class is hard, Dr. Hart does an awesome job connecting with the students and preparing them for a future in accounting!
I do not really understand how someone could possibly have something bad to say about Dr. Hart. She was crucial in my understanding of the material with every lecture clearly stating what topics will be on the test. She also treats this class exactly how the real world is and cares for each and everyone's success in the future.
Hart makes the class very interactive and lighthearted! I found it very easy to learn from her and pay attention in class. The class notes are very helpful and match pretty well with what is on the exams. Dr. Hart cares for each one of her students and wants to see everyone succeed. I would happily take Dr. Hart's class again!
Dr. Hart is the best professor I have had at UTK. She cares about all of her students and really wants everyone to succeed in her class. She is absolutely hilarious and kept me engaged throughout all of her lectures. While the class can be difficult, Dr. Hart makes the content easy to understand and is more than happy to help if you ever need it.
Dr. Hart is a very passionate professor, she truly cares for your success and will help you in any way to achieve that. Her lectures were very detailed as well as fun, she had this wonderful energy! The class was also organized very well.
Dr. Hart is the most passionate professor I've had so far at UT. The class isn't the easiest, but she tries her hardest to help everyone succeed. There were multiple extra credit opportunities as well as small quizzes to help boost grades. She has a great sense of humor but also isn't afraid to call someone out if they're distracting during class.
Dr. Hart is the best professor that I've had so far at UT. She encourages her students to do well in the class, and also to do well in their future. The material in the class is not easy and it takes a lot of work; however, Dr. Hart does a great job of teaching and being a resource for her students. She truly wants the best for her students.
She's a really nice and caring person. For me, the class was tough, but as long as you go over the notes she has you take in class the exams shouldn't be too bad. The group project she assigns is also a lot of work, but not too bad as long as everyone works together.
Professor Hart truly cares about each of her students. The lectures are beneficial and I would not have been able to do well without them. It is very important to attend class because the exams are similar to all the content she goes over. This has been the most challenging, but rewarding class I have taken in college.
Dr. Hart is an incredible teacher who truly cares for your academic and personal success. If you show up to class and take notes, you will be fine. She tells you exactly what to study and there are no surprises come exam time. She is always available to meet to review homework, quizzes, or exams. Will be one of your favorite teachers.
Professor Hart's class was very difficult, but she gives you numerous chances to receive extra credit and has no problem going over things you aren't doing well with. She also will let you look over your tests.
Dr. Hart is by far my favorite accounting professor I have had at UT. She is very engaging in her lectures, and she also inspired me to become the best at accounting that I can be. Do not blame her for the workload, the workload is just what comes with taking ACCT 204. She tries in every which way for each student to understand the material.
One of my favorite professors I've had so far. Makes the content very accessible and easy to understand, and genuinely cares about her students and wants to see us succeed. If you go to class and pay attention, it is very easy to do well in this class. She is so enthusiastic and has amazing energy in lectures.
Dr Hart's teaching is straightforward, and she is accommodating to students as long as they put in the work. Beyond teaching, she makes an effort to get to know you and connect you with classmates and professionals. She's probably the most impactful professor I have had at UTK and I would definitely take her course again.
I wrote an honest/respectful review and it got taken down (so did many others...hmm). Hart cares for her students deeply but is a very poor communicator. She would change due dates hours before they came without an email or announcement. She also isn't likely to hear you out on anything because she believes that she is right about everything.
Dr. Hart is one of the best professors I've had at UT so far. For an infamously boring subject, Hart makes her accounting lectures engaging and informative. She comes off as very intense at first, but she cares about her students. It's a semi-tough class, so attend lectures and apply yourself and you should be fine.
She gets a bad wrap. I loved her class. She is extremely tough on you, but that's only because she wants to see you succeed. She will help if you ask. Go to her office hours. This class isn't easy, but it can be a lot easier if you work with her and do the work. If you skip class, you won't pass. The exams are wordy, be careful.
Dr. Hart knows her stuff. She's super motivating and really put her all into teaching this class. She provides clear notes pages, tells you what's on the exams, and provides a detailed study guide of topics. It was a challenging class, but it's accounting. She's available for office hours and wants to see you succeed!
If you get the chance to take a class with Dr. Hart, I highly recommend taking it.
If you get the chance to take a class with Dr. Hart, I highly recommend taking it..
The professor's constant interruptions and lack of control over noise during the online exam hindered our concentration. Despite offering extra time, she failed to provide it. We were left perplexed when the exam abruptly concluded. Highly disappointing and unacceptable.Hope she makes this right for all of us.
The coursework is a breeze, but the exams are brutal. She does her best to explain, and I grasp the concepts easily. However, the upcoming final has me freaking out. Her test questions and their wording are always unnecessarily complex.
The class is hard no matter which professor you take. You have to put a lot of effort to pass this class. That being said, Dr. Hart. goes out of her way to help her students. Make sure to visit her on her office hours if you have any questions. She is such a kind person, and she will listen to your problems. Take Dr. Hart if you can. She is amazing!
outstanding
Dr. Hart is an amazing professor. She cares about her students and aspires for them to be critical thinkers. This class is very hard; hardest one I have had in Haslam so far. She is helpful in office hours. Do not let the toughness scare you, because she prepares you. Only reason I am giving a 4 is because I wish classes were more structured.
Horrible teacher and very disorganized. Doesn't understand course content and expects you to learn it on your own.
Dr. Hart is one of the best teachers I have ever had. She makes accounting easy to understand and wants her students to succeed. Highly recommend.
It was the most difficult class I have ever taken due to her teaching ability since you would feel more confused than before. She was never organized in her classes and would tell us to mark every little thing in our notes as Need to Know and would never go in depth about and over it very quickly. She made everyone stressed out in the class.
Some of the worst communication I've seen from a professor. Kind and caring person, don't get me wrong. But when someone preaches professionalism to their students so much, it's funny when they don't respond to a single email all year. Lectures consist of highlighting everything in the slides and marking everything as "need to know". Not helpful
Dr. Hart explained the accounting material very well! She pushes everyone to succeed, and she values class participation, even if you are wrong. She also reviews before tests, which I believe helped my grades tremendously! I personally really liked her because she tells it how it is, and she taught me how to have confidence in critical thinking.
I love Dr. Hart! She will challenge and remind you that you can accomplish the hard stuff. Always inspiring and challenging. If you're willing to put in the work, or take time to see her, you'll learn more than you expect. She's always in high demand. I recommend taking her class! She is also very fair on grading which is great!!!
That she challenges you intellectually; but it's only to ensure that you have truly acquainted yourself with the material and exhibit the desired knowledge as professionals in the making.
Dr. Hart is one of the best. She genuinely cares about each student and makes sure you understand the material. She makes accounting so much easier to learn. I'm incredibly grateful for her support and dedication. Highly recommend her as a professor!
Make sure you turn in your peer review. I forgot about it and tried to turn mine in late, she wouldn't accept it and it dropped my grade like 5%. Stupid assignment and a simple mistake. Don't let this happen, because she cant be understanding.
I'm pretty sure Dr Hart writes her own reviews for herself on RMP, don't be fooled by all the 5 stars. Easily the worst teacher I've ever had in my life due to the lack of class structure, cluttered and disorganized notes, oh, and she's always late to class. Take 204 with someone else and thank me later.
there are a lot of mixed opinions on dr hart u either love her or u dont. her lectures are helpful at times but her notes are tedious and she makes u highlight or write unnecessary content. if u ask a question outside of class she will ask you if u read the notes. if you dont love extroverted teachers this class is not for u.
Dr. Hart is genuinely the best professor I have ever had. She is so caring and actually cares about the success of her students. She is more than happy to meet with you outside of class, and it is very helpful. Highly recommend re-reading class notes to study for exams. She is the BEST!!!!
Dr. Hart is one of my favorite professors I've ever had, it is obvious that she cares about every student and loves what she does. While this course is tough, Dr. Hart sets everyone up for success and wants to see everyone succeed, would recommend taking her if possible.
She will either be your favorite professor or least favorite. She is a lot and makes the class unnecessarily hard. She is not very helpful either.
Dr. Hart is the sweetest, the content is just very hard. My biggest recommendation is to pay full attention throughout her lectures and to study weekly because this class is not for the week. She is a lot better compared to most professors in the accounting field, just be ready for that final.
Dr. Hart is amazing. She will help you if you need it. Literally show up to class, go to her office hours like twice, and she'll pull through for you. She's a sweetheart and gets it. She is pretty funny too. Class content itself is hard but she tries. Just read the notes over and over and over again.
She will be your biggest cheerleader if you let her. Go to class, do your homework, and ask for help when you need it; she remembers the students who show they want to do well. Writes handwritten notes for all of her students and has nicknames for a lot of us. ACCT classes are tough no matter what; she pushes you because she knows you're capable
Dr. Hart is probably the best professor I have had at UT. She genuinely wants everyone to succeed and is very passionate about her job. Almost all of her classes are copying down the notes she writes on the board but allows for participation too to help keep everyone engaged. It is very easy to get to know her and she is a very personable person.
Dr. Hart is one of the only good professors at UTK. She genuinely cares and wants you to succeed and will show you if you let her. Her class was tough, but she wants to help you.
Dr. Hart is a great teacher, inspirational and a great resource to have. This class was difficult, definitely felt like an honors course, but I felt very prepared for exams and the lectures were always easy to follow. She's super busy, so she's hard to get ahold of. There is a group project and 3 exams, but homework and classes are doable.
Dr. Hart is the definition of a teacher who genuinely wants to see her students succeed. The class is hard, and I had to study more than usual. Sometimes her lectures can be confusing, but I think that is the nature of the content. She turned the class I was most dreading into something I want to switch my major to. Highly recommend.
Dr. Hart is by far the best teacher I have had in Haslam. The material for the course is definitely hard but she genuinely wants her students to succeed both in and out of class. If you go see her outside of class, she will take the time to help you with whatever you need help with. While the class is hard, if you put in the work, you will do well.
