Great instructor! Unlike most chemistry professors, she really cares about her students. She is easy to talk to and is willing to provide extra help for serious students. I would take her again if I didn't do so well. If you need OChem look for her name!
good professor she made a class that is very tough seem passable. I would take her again anytime. She is hot.
I had no interest in Chem and had never studied it before and i got a B...She is a good lecturer and tries to make it as simple as possible...and makes the effort to make sure everyone is understanding the material..
Good teacher overall. She switches off between using PPT and using hand-written notes. When she is using notes, she is great. When she is using PPT, she can be hard to follow. Will teach you in office hours until you understand. People say take Marhenke or Gandler for ochem, but if their classes are full don't avoid Fellows, she's a good teacher to
Very cool professor. The quizzes can be tough. Pay close attention when she lectures at the beginning of lab and you should do well.
her tests are kind of hard if you do not study. we only have 2 tests, no final and one paper. overal the amount of work is very little
Loved her! She wasn't necessarily hard but chem is pretty challenging itself so that's what made it tricky at times. She's straight forward and to the point! You can ask her anything! I wish she taught chem 1B! Amazing teacher!
Omg!she goes way too fast on the Power Points!!her tests are tricky...
Class isn't mandatory but she gets frustrated when hardly no one shows up and does a sign in sheet for points because of that (randomly) every point is helpful for her class! Also she gives out SIMILAR practice test for each exam but has ALOT of errors and sometimes doesn't know how to answer a students question. Overall she is a semi good profess
oh my goodness, she'd stand in front of the class for like 5 minutes and read the powerpoint and point out mistakes & be totally puzzled. She's always making mistakes on the practice tests and on practice problems on the board. I think I saw her stand puzzled more than I saw her teach. Very nice lady, I just am not a fan of her teaching.
She is a great professor. She teaches well, pre-test are sometimes not helpful so you have to read the book. Chem 3a IS not hard at all.. Its the time you put into it. By the final exam I looked back on my work and most of it seemed easy. You have to put in time if you want an A, I mest up at first because i was Naive. I recommend her.
Good professor doesn't seem very nice or helpful at first, but once she gets a week into the semester she gets better. quizes are difficult if you dont study. She has a practice test for every exam so its impossible to get a c or lower. JUST STUDY AND GO TO LECTURE!She is also very helpful and explains everything.
Super hard class and she isn't very clear. She does give practice exams before tests to download from BB. Quizzes before exams too. For my class, we only had one hw assignment.
SHe is very helpful. She answers any questions you may have. Some people in the class were rude bc she did go fast at first, but everything is in the book that she goes over in class. Go to tutoring as well just to make it more clear. and she will help if you need it. Make sure to review book and notes before each test. quizzes are only 5questions
I loved this teacher. She is a very sweet lady. She gives practice exams and posts powerpoints on blackboard.i don't think she is hard, I just think organic chemistry in itself is difficult to grasp, but its a very interesting subject. If possible I don't recommend taking the lab and lecture at the same time because the lab doesnt followthe lecture
I had Dr. Fellows for CHEM 129A and was amazing! She is very fair and is always willing to help. Go and review your test with her afterwards. She will give points back if you prove your point and she reuses questions for the final. She rounds up homework and there is a 10% curve (e.g. 80-100=A, 70-79=B, etc.) I wish she was teaching 128B!
Super hard and not helpful at all.DO NOT TAKE CHEM 8 with her. Her tests are hard and she is not good at explaining anything. She goes off the pp as if we know everything already.
Fellows is SO nice, and while the subject is particularly confusing, she made it a little easier. The class is basically 3 tests, a term paper, and a group presentation. Overall, there isn't much work you do, and the class is actually pretty interesting.
I would recommend Fellows for sure. As long as you put in the effort and follow her advice (read the chapters, do the book problems) you will pass the class no problem. She seems mean at first, but after the first few weeks of the semester, she seemed more comfortable with the class and she's actually really nice and helpful
She is very nice, she is also a great instructor, she makes things easy to understand and relatable. the class is easy, tests are really easy if you study, overall a great class
Seems mean at first but is actually pretty nice. Listen to her advice, book work, study off study guide you'll do fine. She gives extra credit before every test so take advantage of it! Definitely recommend this teacher
Her class is not hard at all. 3 tests (multiple choice), a group presentation and a research paper. Attendance is mandatory. The way she lectures is kind of boring and monotonic at times but she's very nice.
Not helpful at all, she is rude when you ask her questions and she makes a lot of mistakes. I'm not good at Chemistry, and even I catch her mistakes. The class average was so bad, that a D became a C. Worst teacher I have ever had.
She reads directly off the powerpoints, homework is on mastering chemistry which sucks, and her tests are way harder than any examples or homework problems she gives. I have never gotten lower than a C on a test and so far I have gotten a 67% and 59%. Good luck.
Mrs. Fellows although I'm sure many wished she was Ms. Fellows was a great professor. Like the others said there's 3 tests, 1 presentation, and a 1500 word paper. The test were okay I got b's and didn't study. Presentation was the hardest probably. Must be 10 mins long no exception. Attendance mandatory & strict grade scale. -Councilman Sue
Class is difficult; keep up with mastering chemistry homework and quizzes to boost your grade. Extra credit offered in online homework. Keep all your tests and go over answers with her during office hours...definitely helps when you're studying for cumulative final.
I get the feeling she doesn't like teaching this GE course too much, and gets frustrated with students when they don't put in the effort she's used to with chem. That said, she's a good teacher, grades fairly, and as long as you follow instructions (esp. for the essay) and show up and pay attention, the class/presentation/essay is pretty easy.
It's a pretty boring class. All we discussed were paranormal occurrences and pseudoscientific claims.
FIrst off, she talks VERY quickly. Its hard taking notes in her class cause she spear heads through it all. Hw is all online and sometimes she only gives you one attempt at it. She's difficult and fast paced and you're def. gonna need some outside help. I wouldn't recommend her :(
Great quality teacher, great quality class. Super easy. Attendance is mandatory because she requires you to sign in at the beginning of class. The main components of the class is a 1500 word term paper and a group presentation. There's no final. Dr. Fellows is great, she really knows what she's talking about and offers help.
She does a WONDERFUL job making sure her students understand, & if they are not she makes handouts, takes time to review, or tells class about outside resources we can go to for help. She is very concerned about how her students are doing in class and very approachable. You must read and be prepared to spend a lot of time outside class to earn grade
The best chemistry professor I have ever taken at Fresno state. I have had some bad teachers for chemistry who don't help or even lecture and so diorganized. She is organized and helps you during office hrs. She wants you to succeed and even tells you exactly what will be on the exam, the concepts. So study and practice and you will pass.
Dr. Fellows was a very understanding teacher. If you had any problems she was likely to work something out with you. Class was super easy and fun. Would definitely take again!
Professor Fellows is great, she does a really good job at explaining everything, and everything makes sense. The subject is interesting, and she has a passion for what she does. When it comes to tests, you have to study there's no way that you will pass without studying because they are hard!
Her lecture are really interesting and her class is fairly easy! The only reason why I got a C was because I didn't study for the tests but the tests are easy as long as you study... Didn't have to use the "how to think about weird things book"... Overall it's a great class and attendance is mandatory!
EASIEST CLASS EVER. Only 3 tests, mostly based on lectures! She posts her lecture power points on blackboard. We do activities out of the critical thinking book, so you will need that one. Don't buy the weird things book, only used it once! One group project! And one term paper 1500 words, and that's the final!:) Really recommend this class!
Three tests, 1 group project and 1 term paper.
Her class is easy to do well in. Only 3 tests which are very easy if you barely study and attend lecture. Dont skip class, you are given a couple days to be absent but after that your grade will suffer. The group project and essay are easyPay attention to syllabus! She doesn't go over some due dates but all due dates are on syllabus so read it.
She is a very nice professor. I suggest printing out her PowerPoint slides and following along like that because her lectures can be a bit fast. There are 4 exams, 1 PowerPoint assignment, 1 Final, and some in class work so if you miss the day that she gives in class work you're going to miss points!
Chem 3A is extremely HARD if you do not study, read, or go to class. Fellows is good at teaching, she makes learning relate-able to us. It's just unfortunate that we can not use notes for the exams. But still, VERY HARD CLASS IF YOU DON'T PUT EFFORT INTO IT.
Honestly Chem 3A is a tough class, be prepared for iclicker questions and read the book it helps!! If you do not put the time into this class you will have trouble. I received a C as my final grade in reality it should have been a D(super close to a C) but Professor Fellows bumped it up to a C:)
Chemistry 8 is a very difficult class. I don't understand these reviews because its college, of course the classes are going to be difficult. Dr. Fellows was one of the best professors I've had. She is willing to help especially during office hours, she will answer questions. The practice tests are very close to the exams. STUDY AND DO THE HOMEWORK
Arguably best Chem 1A teacher. Straight forward tests. She helps you out as much as she can. Very kind. Lectures are tough to get through, but that's every chem class. Show up for participation. So much help offered for course, SI, practice probs, lab, tutors in SI bldg. Work hard, get that A. Tough course. Beware. Fellows makes it possible.
Even though her lecture class was clear and easy, she practically reads off the powerpoint and there isn't much help after that.
She's hot so thats a plus. Love the way she teaches.
Really knows the material, is helpful and wants you to pass. Always available at office hours. Also, she lets you keep your exams.
Fellows is a super sweet lady and very laid back. Class is an easy A if you turn in your work. You can't miss more than 6 classes and attendance is counted toward your grade so you should show up. She is overall very understanding and the test questions are straight from the powerpoint so very easy if you pay attention and take notes
Professor is a cool person, but she expects you to have a good background in chem when you enter her class. She skips very quickly through her powerpoints and doesn't explain them too well. If it's possible take another class.
She reads of her powerpoint presentations every day in her lectures. Takes attendance and asks questions based on the chapter with iclicker, this is part of your grade, so if you miss class, you lose points. She shares her powerpoints on blackboard. Homework is assigned weekly online masterchemistry, also worth a lot of your grade.
She is nice, but can seem intimidating at first. She knows what she is talking about, and will answer all/any questions you might have. Always emails back. Not the easiest professor, but definitely a quality instructor. Online homework and in class iclicker quizzes every week. Lets you keep the tests to study for later, so write answers on the test
Fellows is a really good professor but does go through her powerpoints quickly. If you need help just ask and she will be happy to clarify. The course is difficult regardless of what professor you take.
Dr. Fellows is a great teacher. If you do the assignments you are guaranteed to pass the class. There is three tests that are fairly easy. Your final is half a group test and half a term paper, no actual test. Not very difficult and she gives you a lot of time to get the assignments done.
Most of the things she lectures is going to be in the textbook. However I still suggest that you read the textbook. She grades pretty easily. She's super chill too.
Dr. Fellows was a great prof She did a really good job of explaining the subject matter of organic chemistry in ways everyday people can understand
Dr. Fellows is a great professor. Her exams are right off the lecture PowerPoints, so they are pretty easy, there's 3 of them. However, she does go pretty fast through the PowerPoints, but she uploads them before every class. She grades in class assignments and homework very easily. There's a group presentation, and the final is a term paper.
I really enjoyed her Chem 1A class. She's clear, concise, and stays on topic. Even though she moves through topics at lightning speed, she always makes herself available during office hours to help students. She is down to earth, encouraging and explains things in such a way that makes chemistry easy to understand. No extra credit and no curve.
Dr. Fellows is a really nice person, she has a magnetic personality. I really enjoyed taking her class. She does sometime go through the material a bit fast but shes super approachable and she is always willing to help outside of class. There are times when she will omit the specific details in the lecture, she has high expectations for students.
Dr. fellows is one of the nicest professors that I had at Fresno State. She is very passionate about her job and loves her students equally. Her class is honestly easy if you put in the work and go to her office hours for any question that you might have. She's pretty hot too, which made chemistry pretty interesting to learn. Also loves memes.
I absolutely have so much respect for Dr. Fellows. She was so clear and articulate during her lectures. I personally never laid a finger on my textbook and aced almost every one of her tests because her lectures. Just show up to class, take good notes, and you should be okay. Go in for help if you need it because she is very qualified and clear.
Dr. Fellows is a great lecturer. She does expect you to read through the book before coming into class and thus runs through her powerpoint slides rather quickly, but if you just jot down key points, you're good. She's really good at explaining things to make sense. Also, there's online homework, but it helps to understand concepts better.
She's a good professor and makes chemistry sound easy , but you do have to work for your grade. The test are okay, but they do tend to get hard during midterms. She also goes through a chapter every 2 days. Theres 4 exams, and a final. BUT GO TO SI SESSIONS! Patricia really helps you get better knowledge of the chapter. Just study, study , study.
Dr. Fellows is a good prof. Most of her lectures are written on the whiteboard, so attendance is mandatory to not fall behind. Your grade is compromised of chapter quizzes, clicker questions, worksheets, & exams (midterm, final). She is pretty clear about what she wants you to learn for quizzes & exams. In comparison to other profs, she is easier
Great professor. 5 quizzes, 1 midterm and a final. iclicker questions for participation. She will answer any questions you have. Explains great.
Best chem professor hands down, she is knowledgeable and teaches you exactly what you need to know for the quizzes and exams. She has no problem answering questions and is easily available outside of class. Most down to Earth chem professor I have ever had. Lots of available points for participation and worksheets, I didn't even open the book!
I got my first A ever on a test in Chem taking Fellows. Doesn't use PowerPoint, notes are hand written, so she goes slow. Very thorough, very clear. Tests are practice problems from the Practice at the end of ea. chapter. I felt prepared for each quiz (5), and exam (2). Very approachable, and tries to give as many points as possible. Shes great!
Dr. Fellows is a caring professor who wants everyone to succeed in her class. However, chemistry is a hard class and it needs effort in order to get a good grade. Her lectures aren't bad but can be confusing sometimes. Just ask questions if you don't understand. STUDY!! Go to SI, don't miss class, study at least 2 days before the exam. Overall gr8!
She is a really good teacher and the class is passable if you try and work for it. She is super nice and probably the best chem professor at fresno
Dr. Fellows is a great and knowledgeable professor, who makes Chemistry sounds easy. Lectures are based on PPTS, and the notes are easier to follow. There are 4 exams, a final, online hw, and worksheet. Make sure to put in a lot of effort in studying for the tests in order to get a good grade. You can attend SI sessions if you need clarification.
Dr. Fellows is a good person I can say. But in my opinion I hated the way she taught. She made Chemistry sound easy but it was horrible. She goes through all her slide so fast, and makes mistakes of her own were we have corrected her. 4 Exams, and a final, seat chart, and lots of HW back to back. STUDY! Make friends in the class and study together
Just go to class pay attention and ask question. Also study! It is a chemistry class after all. There is a lot of stuff to go over. The test are fairly easy as well because she emails everyone ahead of time about what will be on the exam. There is homework but then it turned to easy worksheets that she gives out.
Professor Fellows is an amazing professor. She goes through lectures fast, but she post them before class on blackboard so go over them and get ahead. Test are exactly what you go over in class, but you need to study! Homework is sometimes a lot but it helps. She is very accessible and helps you if you just ask!
fellows was an absolutely great teacher and make learning the concepts much easier. the material is very intense and SI is the only way to really grasp the problems but she gives hand outs and worksheets in class to go over them with you.
Good professor, explains stuff really well. Exams were all multiple choice. Most exams I got B+ on, but I got an A overall in the course. I would recommend coming tp each lecture and reading through the material a little.
I truly hate chemistry but she made it so much more endurable and made it easier for me to understand the material. She is such an awesome and sweet professor. Material is kind of hard but if you go to her lectures and pay attention youll pass. She will work with you and honestly cares about her students.
4 exams, each with a study guide. one final, no study guide. Lecture heavy on powerpoints. Worksheets given in class randomly for participation/attendance credit. Go to SI or her office hours as needed for additional help. This is a chemistry class and will NOT come easy if you do not study.
Chem 128B is a very though course, but Dr. Fellows broke it down to make it not too though. There are so many reactions and she focuses a lot on synthesis. Her notes are handwritten, she only uses PowerPoint for the first 2 chapters, so you need to attend lecture. She also lectures very fast. Study guides are given for exams and quizzes.
The NSCI4 class is an interesting and easy class, I definitely recommend taking it if you are able to for GE requirements. The class is easy, 1500 word paper, and 1 group presentation along with some other small in-class assignments. She grades according to the rubric she gives you and responds quickly through email. The textbook is not required.
Professor Fellows was the best! There were a few practice worksheets here and there but they were very helpful. Don't throw them AWAY!! Also, she lets you keep the exams! SO study those for the final exam. Overall, great professor and a great GE class.
Dr. Fellows was a great professor. She understood that the material was hard and would really try and help us in any way she could.
took chem in HS, I can honestly say HS chem was much harder for me. Dr. Fellows did 5 multiple chose exams no quizzes. I'm sure it was written it would be much difficult. Overall , if you don't read before class or study before your exam you won't do good. READ the book before lecture! Go to SI if you need extra help, you will see the difference.
Please read the textbook before class. Don't make the same mistake I did. She is very detailed in her lectures so write down everything. Make sure you do practice problems and don't be afraid to reach out during office hours, she is super sweet and patient if you attend class and ask questions.
Dr. Fellows was a great professor, however, chem 3a in general is just difficult. I have nothing against her, for she did her best to explain the modules to us. I highly recommend reading the course materials before lecture because the will make you better prepared for the class. Take this class in a semester where your other classes are easier.
Best professor ever! Made learning O chem very easy and fun. I enjoyed this class. Dr. Fellows is a great professor. Defiantly recommend taking her.
Professor Fellows was an amazing teacher and breaks down the lectures super well! Beware there is a lot of reading in this class. 5 exams and quite an amount of homework. But she does give you enough time to finish it.
best professor ever! She is always willing to help and gives really good feedback on lab reports so you can improve for the next one. 3 quizzes that are kinda hard if you don't understand the material well, so study! I would definitely take her again and wish I did in the past too!
Good Professor overall. Lectures very fast using whiteboard without powerpoint for some units so be prepared. 7 quizzes and 2 exams. Always makes clear what we should know for quizzes. Midterm and final contain questions similar to questions on previous quizzes. Recommend doing the practice problems she posts on Canvas before each quiz.
Pretty good. She gives a clear outline on what will be on exams. She grades quizzes/exams quickly but might not post an answer key and instead will encourage you to go to her office hours. Ochem is very difficult in general but with her as a professor, she kept topics interesting enough for you to want to genuinely learn.
Amazing professor! She made learning ochem fun and easy. There are quizzes for each chapter; she will tell you what will be on the quiz and even provide a study guide and practice problems from the textbook. She encourages everyone to go to SI and office hours. Just study and you'll pass her class. Definitely recommend taking her for ochem!
Dr.Fellows is among the best professors at Fresno State. She is caring, kind, and goes out of her way to help you understand the material in her class if asked. In fall 2022, each chapter had a quiz, 1 midterm, 1 final. Very clear guidelines about what would be tested were given. Make sure to practice and reach out when help is needed!
[Spring 2023 semester] I took CHEM 128A & B she is one of the best professors I've had. The course was graded on a worksheet for every chapter with heavy weight on one test, two midterms & a final. She will give you a breakdown of what to expect, she's available and willing to help students when needed. I highly recommend any of her courses!
She is the best! :D
Good lab instructor, bit of a by-the-book harsh grader. Very nice tho and her lectures before starting the procedure are very helpful.
Dr. Fellows made O-Chem very manageable and enjoyable. You are required to read the book chapter before coming to lecture, and for good reason. Dr. Fellows gave very clear guidelines on how to succeed in her class on the first day. As long as you read the chapter and do the practice problems she recommends, you will receive a good grade.
Dr. Fellows is among the best chem instructors at Fresno State, she is super nice and definitely cares about her students. The class was pretty easy as there isn't much homework, just make sure to read the book and show up to class.
I mean she is nice teacher but I feel like she wasn't very caring of her students sometimes. I worked my ass off in this class and I always got D's on every quizzes. You miss 2 questions on a quiz and you get a C or D. Midterms don't do anything for your grade. She wasn't approachable in my opinion. Barely got a C. Easy if you are booksmart
Dr. Fellows is an amazing professor!! Her lectures are truly so helpful and she does a fantastic job of presenting the information in a way that just makes sense. There is not much homework, but there are quizzes on nearly every chapter. She offers extra credit. The textbook is definitely necessary and offers tons of helpful practice problems.
I failed the class but that's because I didn't put in the time to learn. It's a very intricate subject and this is probably the best Chem 128A teacher just because she tells you EXACTLY what will be on the quizzes and tests. Like EXACTLY, so it's almost like if you fail, it's your fault (which it was in my case). But yeah, that's the best perk tbh!
Professor Fellows is an amazing professor for Chem3A, her class was easy to navigate and easy to pass. Not much homework, we're assigned one reading per chapter (not graded) and a dynamic study module (10-12 questions). All exams are Multiple Choice
Best professor I have ever had
She is a very nice and calm professor but her lectures didn't help me understand the material very well and attendance is mandatory by using iclicker. Exams take a big toll on your grade and are in person. You have too really study the lecture notes and textbooks to be able to fully understand the material.
Fellows is direct and easy to understand. She's cool and super chill. She uses iClicker for attendance points, but the questions are easy. 5 exams, but there were past exams given to study. Homework is one module per chapter, few worksheets. Super light.
Professor Fellows was caring and clear during her lectures & grading criteria. I would not have been able to pass this class if it wasn't for her! Chem is a tough subject, but with her help, going to her office hrs and the tutoring center I passed! 5 exams, but not cumulative, and she goes over a review in class before the exam. TAKE HER!
I took 1st semester ochem lecture (128A) and 2nd semester lab (129B) with her and loved both semesters. In first semester, she does chapter quizzes that are worth 60% of your total grade so you NEED to study for those, the midterm and final are comparatively easy. She's a super sweet prof, would take again.
Dr. Fellows is a great ochem professor. Her lectures are super clear, and she provides detailed guidance on what to focus on. The workload is manageable if you keep up with the reading and practice problems. Unstuck ai and the textbook are great study tools for acing her quizzes and exams.
You will not regret Dr. Fellows for ochem. HIGHLY REC! Her teaching style truly helped me learn ochem. She didn't just throw examples at us during lecture like the other profs here like to resort to. She actually goes through the slides with careful explanation. If I could have had her as my teacher for 128B + the lab sections, I would have!
If I could go back in a time machine when I was picking my professor for ochem, it would not be fellows. You are graded based off exams and if just have a hard time or bad day with that specific topic(s), YOUR grade will drop and it's going to stay at that low grade. Feel like other students in other ochem I sections had better grades/knowledge.
Grade is based off exams only, 95%. A few worksheets that are only worth 5%. Recommend taking any other professor if you struggle with test taking anxiety. 4 exams plus a cumulative final.
Professor Fellows changed how she usually formats her class for this, as exams were worth 95% of your grade. If you are not a good test taker, do not take this class with the current formatting. Study guides helped prepare for exams, go to office hours, and do textbook practice problems. SI helped a lot, but you will have to WORK HARD to pass.
