Great teaching, tough exam
She talks so fast - it drives me crazy! But she is apparently the best in the department for MBB teachers!
REALLY NICE!!!
she's the best prof in the dept. really helpful and all around nice prof.
She gives good notes, but the exams are not fair
Dr. Northwood rules!! Makes metabolism about as interesting as it can be made. If she says it's on the exam, it is, and if she says it's not, then it's not. The tests can be a bit long, though.
her focus is not to teach principles of metabolism but to teach you to memorize a rediculous amount of detail. if you like to memorize she is for you but if you actually want to learn something at universty then forget it.
Cares about her students, tests are very fair. Clear about what material is testable and what material is not, also brings humor into her classes
She's very nice and courteous in lecture, but don't ever go by her office (considering she's the MBB advisor and all) she'll snap your head off! Teaching is cool, makes sure you know what she's looking for and her lectures well organized (lots info tho)
scatter brain. she cant maintain a clear line of thinking. she formates her course so that you memorise certain details but never really learn anything. for learning she is terrible, for getting an easy B she's ok.
Very clear on what you need to know and what you don't, tests memorization and context at the same time. As long as you go IN office hours she is really nice (but will bite you if you are not in office hours) Overall great teacher
Dr. Northwood is excellent in terms of teaching, clarity, attitude, personality, etc. As for going to her during non-office hours, would you want a few hundred MBB undergrads popping by whenever they felt like it?
I've never been in her class, but I don't know how she can get a good rating even as a teacher. She's the worst advisor ever, she's really mean and unhelpful and gets extremely angry over nothing. She also screams! This woman has problems and definitely should not be advising students.
Can't really get some help from her regarding the course material. she usually not avaliable for extra help.
She is bad only if you are stupid
I think she likes to impersonate Dr Jekyl and Mr Hyde a la femme.
Her exams are very easy: short answer (one word to one sentence) questions. And she tells you EXACTLY what will be on the exam - no suprises.
she tells u what u need to know for the exam..and that's what u really need to concentrate on in terms of exam prep...everything she covered has been straight memorization as it is mostly the case in other mbb courses
Nice lady, a bit scatter brained. Tells what to know/what not to know for exams. Exams made up of many short answer questions, so really memorize everything she says to.
CRAP professor! She teaches you nothing. All you have to do is memorize what she tells you will be on the exam. You get nothing from taking a course with her. Her advising abilites are questionable and she treats students with disrespect, especially if you are not in MBB!!
Hilarious, hysterical, sometimes indecisive. Good prof, though.
OMG!!! She's ok for 322 but she is HECTIC for 321 (on top of the already super-heavy-and-sheer-load of material killer class) Goes over 30 something slides a lecture, non-stop! She can't even breathe herself. Hard exam that screwed a lot of people over (as opposed to the high average in mbb322)Don't have time to get down anything she says!
awesome prof....very helpful, very to the point
I took both these classes in the same semester with her and she was awesome. Her notes were clear and she told you exactly what you needed to know. Her exams were fair and there were no surprises. She does fly through the material very quickly but at least I didn't fall asleep b/c I was too busy scrambling to keep up.
She is very clear on what to know (ie what is on the exam). She is a fair marker. Her notes are very organized. She is very enthusiastic about the material. I recommend her for any class :)
Exams are very fair, but really watch out for the later material cuz the last 2 midterms were somewhat tougher than the first 2. She's a good lecturer. If u have to take mbb, try to take it with her! She doesn't scale, so whatever u get is what u get.
It was her first time teaching MBB, so there was no final, just 4 straight foreward midterms. Very fare and clear on material. Great personality. Lectures were always interesting.
Is she Nice? Depends on her mood. Materials are damn heavy (more than 30 notes per lecture). Is marking fair? Answer: is it fair if i got over 60% and u deserve for a D?

very moody, kinda scary sometimes! she tells you what will be on the exam during lecture since the level of material is very high! i personally dont like her wording on exams; i find it confusing. remember, with her " you will get whatever you will get!" dont rely too much on the curve. above 86%-->A.
She just wants to yell at students and she ignores everyone. She has a very bad attitude toward the students and her marking is unfare. I don’t know why she is still teaching at SFU. She is always late to her classes and skips her office hours. I got good mark in her class but I think taking class with her is totally waste of time.
I thought she was scary after she yelled at our class for bombing the 1st midterm (it was hard!), but when I went to her office hours she was *so* nice that I completely changed my mind. She is a little scatterbrained sometimes, but seriously...teaching and being the mbb undergrad academic advisor is a lot of work.
expects waaaaayyy tooo much from her students and when u ask her for help or study advice she is very very rude!
Make sure you do recommended problems and practice questions for the exam. Also attend lectures because she tells you what topics are important for the exam.
She's very organized and prepares the student well for the tests. She tells you what to expect on exams and she gives practise exams. People may not be doing as well in the course because there is a lot of material to learn, but she doesn't seem to expect much from the kin students.
LOVE HER! one of the best teachers I have ever had. Yes she can be rude and she ain't no walk in the park but shes soooooo good at teaching. You could listen to her for hours and she makes it super clear! Would love to take another class with her!
This woman is brilliant in her field of work. Her lectures make that very obvious. Having said that, she's also incredibly disrespectful and condescending to some students. Whether you fall on her good or bad side is arbitrary.
She is definitely a GREAT prof. You can't possibly fall asleep in her class for she goes through thirty or so slides in one class hour, but this doesn't mean her lectures are too much. She covers important materials thoroghly and she even tells us what will be on the test. She is fair. I would strongly recommend her.
She is always in a bad mood and brings her problems to class. She does NOT teach. Flipping through 36 slides and reading the headers does not qualify as teaching. Not a fair marker..how does 70 percent translate into a C? And she refused to explain why.
this prof should be sent to where the sun dont shine, we give her card and prank and the students get stabbed in the back. i wish i had taken this course with davidson now. her grading was totally unfair and scale was even worse... 80% is a B+/B... are u kidding me? We didnt even have enough time to study for finals. just utterly horrible period.
I have no clue how she is still allowed to teach. She doesn't know how to teach and i think that is reflected in the horrible class averages for all three midterms. Just make sure to do the assigned questions and her objectives at the end of each lecture.
Our final was on the last day of class. Her lectures are fast but she gets the point across. She tells you whats on the exam, and the exams overall were somewhat fair, just watch out for tricky questions. Make sure you do the given book questions and the learning objectives at the end of each lecture. Her grading scale is very harsh.
I went into this class absolutely hating MBB. I came out of this class absolutely loving it, that's how great Dr. Northwood is. She is by far my favourite prof so far in University. Her lectures are extremely interesting and the best part of all-she tells you EXACTLY what is going to be on the exams. Honestly, how can you not succeed? I got an A+!
Very knowledgeable professor and enthusiastic about the material. Told you what topics would be on exam at end of every powerpoint. Used textbook for background info and used some questions on exam. Funny in class - talked about Jersey Shore! Helpful when you asked questions. Great class overall, but she said in the future she would make it harder!
one of the worst prof I've ever had. avoid her course if possible.
I thought Dr. Northwood was okay but not a very nice prof by any means. very unapproachable and extremely moody. If possible, I would avoid her course in the future.
Used the practice exams to prep for the real exams and got an A+ in the course. Though, she said she'll make the course harder in the future. Flips through a lot of slides, but tells you what's going to be on the test. Was moody first few times I spoke to her, but when she saw I worked hard and was doing well, was much better after that.
Dr. Northwood is not a hard prof. She tells you EXACTLY what will be on her exams. Do the practice exams, and the textbook questions she assigns. It still requires a great deal of time, but she definitely makes the course easier.
After the first class I was overwhelmed - Dr. Northwood posts about 50 slides per lecture and I wasn't looking forward to her class at all. But although there is a lot of material, she makes it clear what's going to be on the exams and where to focus your studying. Each lecture contains objectives at the end - focus on those! She's also a comedian.
Very down to earth and funny! Only three exams, no assignments. Tests were super fair and so was the marking. Just do the assigned text and online questions and study the notes. If you can put an effort into doing that then you'll do great! I ended up with 90% =)
AVOID THIS PROF IF YOU CAN! Her marking schemes are ridiculously high, majority of people failed during summer 2012 so that is saying something. Exams were fair once you figured out her exam style but even then it is not straightforward as she suggests. She is NOT APPROACHABLE. Make sure to review your questions before asking her or she will attack
Overall good prof. She always throws in interesting tidbits of information that apply to the material needed to be known. Tests pretty straight forward, reuses a lot of textbook questions + online quiz mc. Claims that she "doesn't trick you" in tests, but definitely is picky w/ the answer key. Overall, glad I took MBB231 with her, learnt a lot.
Shes the toughest grader Ive ever had. Her grading scale is insanely tough. Its tough to pass her course. I wish I never had to take it.
Worst teacher ever. I dont even want to talk about this. Shes just terrible. There are hundreds of great teachers out there who would do a better job. She should not be teaching this course.
Dr. Northwood is a great professor! Her lectures were really interesting, although she is a bit intimidating at first. Don't skip class because she tells you exactly what is going to be on the test. Also, she puts questions from the textbook and practice exams on the test, which is nice.
Dr. Northwood is hilarious. Lectures are super interesting, though it's hard to absorb the material the first time she goes through it. Lots of textbook questions are re-used on the exam, and she tells you exactly what to focus on at the end of her lectures. Can come across as a bit mean, but is willing to go over important concepts before exams.
Dr. Northwood was one of my favourite professors in university. She gave great lectures, and there was a lot of back and forth banter with students. We even pranked her with the entire classes' phone alarms. She took it well. She tells you what to study. My study group of friends all got A's or A+'s. Half of us are in med school or PhD programs.
I know people have mixed opinions about Dr. Northwood, but I absolutely LOVE HER. She made MBB 321 a wonderful adventure. She chooses the best TAs for her courses, and is very clear on what to know for exams. All exams were fair and If you attend tutorials, they will boost your mark.
Astounding prof! One of my top favorites, she truly exemplifies her passion for her career and the biology of the human body, everyday, eveyclass. Make sure you take at least one course with her, she only teaches 321 though (she should teach O-chem and all the MBB pre-req's) Go to class!!!
honestly one of the slackest class I have ever taken. a lot of the midterm questions are straight off the online quizzes. The cumulative final was almost all reused questions. However she can be disorganized but she does know what she's talking about. Take her if you want an easy grade but if you want the best prof you may want to hold off.
She gives 5 midterms and a cumulative final, but her finals is just questions straight from the past 4 midterms. Midterms are ok. At the end of every lecture slides she will point out which parts will be asked on the the test. Overall, its an easy pass class. Just read her slides and use the textbook if you want further detail.
Great
Not the best prof for learning the content
pretty impressive lectures, study materials are pretty straightforward, you will get a good grade for this class if u have done the assigned questions from her.
She's a crystal clear prof. No tricks. She's awesome at explaining things but sometimes I felt like the notes on the slides weren't enough so I would highly recommend not missing lectures. The course became exhausting after awhile because of 5 exams. Also, memorization will only take you so far. Work hard, results will show. .
Just show up to class to note what she says is on the exam; she gives these hints every lecture and will make you're life easy. Lastly, study the learning outcomes of each lecture and absolutely do the textbook questions and the other questions within her notes because these show up on the exam! I just told you how to get an A. Thank me later.
Dr. Northwood makes lectures more bearable with her comedic approach to teaching. Never felt like a chore to attend, although she came late a lot. She gives out lots of hints, and the tests are predictable. Not cumulative which is a life-saver. Be diligient and study what she tells you, and I'm fairly sure you'll get at least a B.
Currently taking my 3rd course with Dr. Northwood. Made it my goal to take as many courses as possible with her. She brightens my spirits every time I enter her class. An MBB degree isn't complete until you've taken a class with this LEGEND. Her selfies with her cat, cat stories (disasters), and cat memes (that she makes herself) are hilarious
Northwood is a pretty knowledgeable professor and creates a fun/relaxed environment. She relates material to real world stuff if you don't like the usual bland mbb material. Super clear on what's on the exam and so tests are relatively easy with the averages being around 76%.
great prof in MBB courses, i have taken 321,322 with Northwood, grades obtained are good and fair. Easy workload, attendance matters to good grade.
The most amazing personality that i have met . She is one of The BEST professor and I will remember her my entire life . Thank you Dr. Northwood I will take every class that you will teach .
I don't think I ever saw Dr. Northwood in a bad mood once. She's super friendly and easy to engage with. Her lectures are very digestible. Her grading was a little on the difficult side. Some tests she tried to make "easier" but wound up making them harder; at least for me and I may or may not be stupid lol. She was super clear about final material
Attend tutorials and lecture review days!!! Hard work pays off, exams are extremely fair but remember everyone does well, keeping up with material really helps especially in tutorial
By far my favourite prof! I find people either love her or hate her with no in between but she's hilarious and she likes to talk about her cats. She makes it so easy to do well because she tells you exactly what to study. I promise if you go to lecture and listen to what she tells you to know you will do well.
If Dr. Northwood taught any class, I would seriously be tempted to take it. She is amazing. Her lectures are clear and concise. I have perhaps in my long years at SFU never had a professor who was more clear on what they wanted you to know. She may have many exams, but it is because she wants to make sure you really understand the material
Dr. Northwood made MBB 231 as painless as she possibly could. She clearly explained what would be on the exams, emphasized the most important material, and streamlined the material so that studying became a lot less overwhelming. Lectures often started with a funny anecdote, and she added a lot of humour to the sometimes dry material.
shes awesome
She has an adjusted grading scale that makes 81% a B- and she has made no adaptations for students during covid 19. Her excuse is that she always done it this way. Has their always been a pandemic???? trash teacher.
Dr. Northwood is one of the most passionate professors I have had. She obviously loves what she teaches, she is so sweet, and explains concepts very clearly relating it to real world situations. Her slides are way more detailed than her lectures so go to class to save the work.
Dr. Northwood is such a cute professor. We faced several technical difficulties in this class, and I felt really bad for her since she didn't know what else to do. However, her exams were questions based on WileyPLUS, and she will tell you specifically what to study. She is very sweet and teaches you a lot to learn!
dr northwood was an amazing prof!! she's so sweet and kind. all her exam questions were straight from Wiley so defs recommend purchasing it! she told what to study exactly on review days and told what her harder questions will ask. 10/10 would take another class w her
Ingrid is amazing. Her lectures are fun and she really cares about her students! MBB stuff is always difficult but her exams are extremely fair.
Prof Northwood genuinely cares about her students. The course is pretty heavy, and she tries her best to teach you everything you need to know for the exams. If you want to do well in the course, study the Wiley questions, her lecture slides, and the tutorial questions.
Dr. Northwood is literally the best! She makes MBB as fun as possible despite it being a hard course. Her exams are so easy if you just study her slides and are always so straightforward. No trick questions whatsoever and tells you exactly what she expects. Definitely recommend her for every MBB class!
Lecture Material was quite interesting. However, the learning objectives and exam materials can sometimes be inconsistent. Exams were not bad tho. When asked with certain questions she commonly refers to the textbook. Her review sessions were ok at best although not the most efficient. She is very nice and quite passionate about teaching.
This class was one of the best classes Ive taken in awhile. The prof was just overall so thoughtful and caring, she made all her tests extremely fair. To do well on the exams, I recommend pretty much memorizing all the lecture slides & doing the Wiley plus/assignment questions (I didnt read the textbook much). Its very easy if you put in effort!
Ahh Dr. Northwood is by far the best prof I've had at SFU! She explains concepts very clearly and in different ways to ensure every student understands the material. She also does amazing review sessions before exams where she highlights the most important information. I would take another class with her in a heartbeat!
Dr. Northwood is the best prof I have taken at SFU. So passionate about biochemistry and extremely kind! The material is very difficult but she made it so interesting and fun to learn. She's the reason I chose MBB as my major!
She is probably one of the best profs I have ever had and I would recommend taking any mbb class where she is teaching !!
Dr. Northwood is such a nice prof. I didn't really like the way she presented her lectures, but I appreciated how she would pause her lecturing to answer questions from students when concepts were not clear. Her exams are very straight forward and fair. I would take another class with her for sure.
She is by far one of the best profs that I have in my undergrad, as she truly cared about her students and her exams were also quite fair! I would definitely take another class with her !!
This was my 2nd course with Dr. Northwood and she my fav prof at SFU! Exams are extremely fair if you complete the textbook and extra practice questions. Her lectures are thorough and she will often present new concepts with numerous diagrams to ensure there is no confusion. She will put the hammer down if she needs to though, so don't cross her.
Dr. Northwood is definitely one of my recommended instructors for MBB classes. I have taken her in MBB231 before, and she delivers her lectures well and keeps class entertaining. She emphasizes what things from her slides are gonna be in the exam, so always keep note of that. Great prof! (P.S. She has adorable cats too)
Dr. Northwood is a godsend. She is crystal clear on what the main concepts are, and her reviews for exams are concise and informative. Her tests are fair, and she's very approachable.
Dr. Northwood is an excellent professor. Lectures are engaging and exams are completely fair. She is abundantly clear on what material will be covered on exams and provides good study resources. She has also been very accommodating during the pandemic and is approachable for help.
Great professor in terms of grading criteria and teaching, the exams are straightforward and she tells you what's on the exam. The only issue is that she is NOT accessible outside of class, has a very strict emailing criteria and even following that would not get you any responses back which is very rude.
Not a bad prof but her grading is unfair. if you mess up one exam you won't be able to improve it.
Dr. Northwood is a good lecturer. She can sometimes get a bit disorganized, and can sometimes talk too fast, but overall she is receptive to comments on her lecture pace and content. Her review sessions tell you exactly what will be on the exam.. The Wiley "practice" questions are copied word for word on to the exams as MC questions, so do those!
Great lecturer. Makes it EXTREMELY clear what's on the tests (will straight up go through her lecture slides and be like "this is on the test, this isn't, this isn't, oh this is super important, etc, etc." Very pleasant speaker and seems to care about students' success. Always smiley and seems to enjoy her work!
Loved my class with Dr. Northwood! She is funny and sassy which makes lectures interesting. She also tells you exactly what will be on the exams so the review sessions are super helpful. Grade came from 4 exams (no assignments), tuts were very helpful but not mandatory. Definitely recommend and will be taking another class with her in the future!
Dr. Northwood is a caring, sassy and funny professor. She isn't trying to trick you like other professors do. She will make it clear what to study for the exam (at least for this course) and both her and the TA will hold review sessions before the exam to prepare you. Highly recommended.
Dr. Northwood's class was a blast! She lets you know EXACTLY what's on the tests; review sessions and tutorials are super helpful. Lecture slides can be a bit dense at times but she does a great job at clearing up concepts. Tests are extremely fair (just follow the slides + tutorials and you're set)
MBB 321 is a difficult class, and Dr. Northwood's ability to be clear on what will be tested is a godsend in that regard. The concepts are difficult to grasp, but she makes sure that she is very clear on what she needs you to know. Her practice questions on Achieve and the Canvas Lecture quizzes are usually word for word copied as exam questions.
Dr.Northwood is great! Her lectures feel like there's a lot of knowledge to be learned and overwhelming but she gives you lots of online practice questions (that she also bases her exams on) that make studying much easier and totally doable. All her exams felt fair and relative to what we learned. Would totally recommend!
Awesome professor. Just follow her lectures and practice questions on Achieve.
Dr. Northwood is an amazing professor. If you haven't taken one of her classes yet, I highly recommend it. I've had her for both 231 and 321 and if I could take another I would. She's super transparent on what will be on exams and what to prepare for. If you study what she asks you to, it's pretty hard to do poorly in her class.
Dr. Northwood is a godsend for this class. There is a lot of material to cover, but she will let you know EXACTLY what will be on her exams, so it makes studying a lot less challenging. Her exams are mostly multiple-choice, and if you do the optional practice questions, then it should be easy for you to do ok. Take this class with her if you can!
As a non MBB major, Dr. Northwood is the sole reason I took this course. I absolutely love her. She tests on small things but is very clear about exactly what it will be, making a pretty content heavy course manageable. Achieve is optional, the textbook solutions Northwood posts (for free) are the same content if you don't want to pay.
Incompetent teaching style that will make you sleep every single lecture. The average in the midterms are rather high, but the grading scheme were scaled down, meaning my 80% merely makes a B instead of a B+.
Not the worst professor, but teaching skill really is exceptionally bad. She simply reads out lecture slides and gives no clear explanations on most topics, and she frequently skips multiple slides in lecture...
Dr. Northwood is always very clear on exactly what will be expected of you on her exams. Immunology is not an easy class, but she made sure that she was clear on what was important, and the level of detail we needed to know. The exams were fair, with extra time allowed, and the marking was very fair. Do the practice questions and you'll do well.
Complete disregard of students' learning, seems to just emphasize what students should memorize in lecture rather than LEARN. The lack of effort put into teaching surpasses that of ANY prof I've had at SFU. Would NEVER take again. Taking a class with this prof is a waste of time and money if she can't bring herself to actually teach anything.
She just read from the slide and encouraged students to memorize rather than learn! You only pass the exam only if you can memorize all the questions and answers from Wiley Plus.
Doesn't care one bit about actually teaching. Only memorizing something for the sake of a test is not the same as actually having a good understanding or the material. Other profs are harder but at least their exams are fair for people who put in the effort to understand, not just memorize. If she can't bring herself to care about teaching, RETIRE
She has a great sense of humour and is extremely clear on what is to be expected on the tests. Can't stress enough how important it is to go over her assigned Wiley+ & Canvas Quiz assignments as they were extremely helpful in preparing for and doing well on exams. She dedicated 1-2 classes for review which was extremely helpful as well!
Super condescending tone and doesn't care for the course.
Dr. Northwood is one of, if not the best professor at SFU. Lectures are always engaging and easy to follow, and if you are confused about something, she is more than willing to help you understand a certain topic. Very clear grading criteria, with an easy 100% for 10% of your grade from the Canvas quizzes. Tests are simple and straight forward!
very chill prof, for review lectures, she tells you exactly whats going to be on exams, straight forward lectures, and no mandatory attendance
Love her. Single-handedly restored my faith in MBB. 90% first midterm and 100% on the second. All I did was take her advice. Keep up with the lecture material, do the assigned textbook questions, and practice problem sets. No tricks on exams..exactly what she said is on it.
During lecture she tells you which slides you don't need to focus on (you end up scrapping like 5 slides out of a set which is helpful when it comes to studying). If you study lecture notes=golden for exams. She's very chill and she's even letting students write their finals on different days because it overlaps with the Taylor Swift concert
She is great. I did not like MBB classes before this one, but she made it interesting. lectures are recorded and she is entertaining to listen to. She is very understanding and kind. definitely take MBB courses with her over many of the other profs.
Lectures are HEAVY so stay on top of it. Dr. Northwood has so much character and kept me intrigued the entire course. She's clear on what is and isn't on the exam. Canvas quiz questions have unlimited tries/time limit and are sometimes on the exam. Best prof I've ever taken and excited to take my 3rd class with her in the Spring term.
Dr. Northwood is a straightforward prof - lectures are clear, and she gives you the exact info needed to do well on exams. Unstuck study helped with practice quizzes.
The teacher would clarify the expectations or give hints on the exams. Her lectures were recorded but she usually read off the slides in monotone. There is no need to attend lectures if you can keep up your own pace. The exam questions were fair and easier compared with another teacher. She needs to be more respectful to her students.
She let any student who had Eras Tour tickets write the 231 final 5 days later to ensure they had a "once in a lifetime opportunity." Her exams are pretty hard but so fair. She always tells you exactly what to study. Most questions come from practice problems/tests. She's an okay lecturer but she's so cool and funny that it kinda makes up for it.
She's very sweet but is completely inept at using her slides. Half of the classes, she would show up late and then we would only cover a bit of the slide deck we were supposed to. She tells you exactly what's on the exam which is definitely helpful, but if 231 was a difficult course, then she would be a nightmare.
very test heavy, boring and monotonous and wants memorization. finals was 2 exams, cumulative and the end chapters, what even? very slow so just wants to get over by telling whats on the exam so ots very individual study.
She tells you clearly what you should know for the exams and the exams themselves are purely based on learning objectives. She is very straightforward and her class is easy if you put in the effort. I highly suggest using Wiley Plus.
ingrid is amazing she makes it really clear what you're going to be tested on. i also like that she repeated things often cause it made them stick in my mind. be aware this class is pretty content heavy. i have no complaints other than how ingrid was pretty late to the lecture a lot of the time.
AMAZING, anyone who says otherwise just didnt put in work. Tells u exactly whats on exams, repeats things several times to get it to stick in ur head. Slow speaker but otherwise fine. Not sure why theres reviews on not getting through the slide deck... we covered 2 extra chapters and still had classes left over. Just need to know all material well
Very monotone, speaks slow, but tells you EXACTLY what's on the exam. An entertaining and sassy (in a good way) woman who does show up late sometimes. If you need to take further MBB courses after 231, maybe look into another prof. She skips some information that, "we don't need to know", but other people need to know for future MBB courses
I really enjoyed Dr. Northwood's lectures and personality. What I found frustrating was her grading scale. I underestimated the first exam and failed it. Got my act together and did really well on every other exam, however with sub 60% being a fail, 60-70% being a D, 70-80% being a C it was impossible to bring my average up to a B or A.
The grading criteria were vague and lacked integrity
Dr. Northwood is a decent prof and personable - she flies through the slides but will explain the "important" concepts very clearly. She will tell you what is examinable and what is not. If you do the textbook questions and canvas quizzes you'll be good (she takes the questions word for word). The exams were not difficult at all.
