He makes you learn the material, good teacher. Keep up with the class as far as the reading, and show him that you are putting forth a good effort and anyone should be able to get an A.

Excellent Professor! You have to work hard, but it is worth it because you learn a lot and he makes you think and use your brain. His class is not for slackers. If you want to learn take his class. If not, why even be in college?!

Not easy, but once you figure out his method it's just a matter of doing it. One of the best profs. He's appreciative of hard-working students and is very interesting, kind and intelligent. On the shallow side, he's great to listen to-cute Oz accent.

One of the first profs. that I felt really cared about me as a student.Actually pulled me into the hall after final exam to thank me for putting forth effort in his class. ALOT of writing, but he will work with you and an A is possible. GREAT ACCENT!!!

Great class!! I'm even taking my first night class to have him again. Plenty of homework which appears hard, but is merely time consuming. The only tests are the mid-term and final. He does talk about himself a lot, but I find his stories interesting, a nice change from your everyday lecture!

Dr. Vassiliou is a great professor! I know that he may come across as a self-centered know it all, but I think he deserves to be that way. He has worked hard to get where he's at. His class can be very easy. You just have to be willing to do a lot of typing throughout the whole semester.

Extremely passionate about the literature. Very informative, phiolosophical, and intelligent. Can branch off into so many different things to talk about, yet still manages to bring back to the basic themes of the course. Awesome orator.

A good teacher. Has some pretty big research papers we have to do. Although, I am not the best at writing. But knows what he is talking about. If you are going to take ENGL 1301 make sure you know MLA formatting. IT IS A MUST!

Dr. Vassiliou expects a lot of work from his students. I learned a great deal in his class and I would definatley take him again. He is very knowledgable and was always willing to help out.

I canunderstand how he would rub some students the wrong way. You just have to be interested and opinionated during class. Even if you call him on his**** he will respect you.

I Definitly recommend this teacher, you will learn alot in his class. He will do whatever he can to help you, very caring...although you do have to work alot for this class, but the material is not hard at all.

Awesome Prof. I had never read Shakespeare or Cisneros or anything before, nor did i care to. He changed that, and fostered a love for learning in me, I was on academic prob for 3 sem's. I'm PTK now. Dr. Vassiliou is an inspiration. As long as you try he will try to help you. Take any class this man teaches, you will not regret it.

Excellent professor. The only professor that cares about his students doing things the right way. A class for hard workers. Indeed, assignments are time cosuming. However, you learn a great deal of information.

Dr.Vassilliou is a great teacher. He will take the time for you even on a weekend to make sure you are getting what you need done. Make everything clear. A lot of writing but the work is worth doing. You will learn in his class. He really does care about his students.

If you are going to go into this class and thinking that it will be a blw off course DON'T TAKE IT! However if you want to learn interesting facts about literature and you want to get your moneys worth I would highly reccomend this professor. He is a Greek Australlian teaching in Texas, how much more interesting can you get.

Great teacher! Mr. Vassilou's reading assignments were sometimes long but always interesting. He had some good questions and made you think about the author's adn the characters they wrote about. He respected you even if you had a difference of opinion. I would defintely take him again if I needed another Engish class.

Amazing professor. He is an extremely smart man and he really does get you very interested. It is by far NOT blow off class, but trust me, you will want to impress him and if you just do what he asks... which can be a bit tough at times, its worth it, and it really isnt that bad. I have an A and I earned it. But I didn't kill myself.

The class started out with much promise, but I was really dissappointed. I did learn some useful things such as proper MLA style and grammar, but overall, Dr. Vassiliou just likes to hear himself talk. He repeats everything over more than twice. I have to drag myself to his class. He is very strict on attendence. He's a nice guy, but talks too much

By far the most intellectual, caring and awesome teacher I've ever had! Made an English writing course extremely capable/fun for someone who doesn't really care for that kind of class. At the end of the semester, I got very ill, and he worked with me to get my exam done. I thank him everyday for that! Now go to NVC, wishing I could take him again!

by far the best instructor in san antonio college. i took his 3 hr class and took him for engl 1301, 1302 and american lit and got an easy A in all three of them. turn in all assignments and get urslf an A. Final exam, write anything u liked or disliked about the class and that's it

This class was very interesting. There is a lot of work to do but if you're not a last minute person then it should be easy. I'm a last min. person and I got a B and very stressed. He is very arrogant and make sure you read all of the instructions before you ask him any questions. He'll let you know when you're being stupid.

God talk about being arrogant. This prof really likes himself more that anyone I've ever met. If your interested in hearing about someone elses life please take him. Do great by kissing a lot of rear end, The key to doing great is by complimenting him. Final was about what you liked, mention he's the best teacher and you'll score an A.

Dr. Vassiliou is the best tea0cher I have ever had. I earned an A in his class but it was a lot of hard work. More than half of the class dropped before the end. It's tough but it's worth it. I love being challenged as a student.

Dr. Vasiliou does like to talk alot but its nice that he actually cares about his students. BIG on attendance he will drop you with 2 or more absences. Big paper due at the end of the year thats about it. Just go to class put in effort and you will do fine.

He is not arrogant, he just has much to be proud of. At first he seems intimidating, but he's a great professor and kept the class interesting. I really looked forward to going to his class. One big report due at the end of the year.

This professor opened my eyes to see things in a different light. He makes you do an essay with every assignment to ensure that you read. But he is by far THE BEST english professor I have had yet. TAKE HIM if you are an english major/minor or if you have any interest in English.

This guy was actually pretty interesting....he knows his stuff. He does talk about himself quit a bit but if you can look past that and just do the work he is actually really easy. He scared me the first class but after awhile you just have to laugh at his funny conversations and comments.

dr. v is just one of those teachers that is good at what he does. not only is he intelligent, but he is capable of making the class interesting by making it relatable to his students. i never had an interest in eng before, but he almost made me want to change my major.

AWESOME PROFESSOR!!!! He really knows his stuff.If you are somewhat of a slacker,don't take him.There is a great deal of work,but it only helps you completely understand the material.You only get the grade you earned.Please don't wait until the last minute to do the homework,it will show.I got a B and I learned a great deal.

He is intimidating at first, but don't let that scare you. Dr. Vassilou is the most fun and interesting teacher I've ever had. He's meticulous about writing, but it made me become 10X better at writing essays. When he points out your mistakes through email, they seem pretty cruel. Don't be offended and drop out like some people did!

I was also intimidated at first by Dr. Vassiliou. This class turned out to be a lot of fun. He loves what he does, and he is very enthusiastic. I am not a reader, but taking his class really opened my eyes to how fun reading can be. He gets an A+++++ from me!

He is a grear GREAT teacher. I haven't know a teacher more entusiastic and interesting than him. I took his class on summer and it was really hard. However, he is able to help you as much as you want. If you don't want to trhow your money thru the garbage, take him. You will see how much you you can learn. he loves his stuff and he is so hot

Dr. Vassiliou is the best English teacher I have ever had. Very good at helping students learn. He is enthusiastic and very understanding. You must attend class, but talk to him first before dropping. Work is not difficult however, you learn a lot. He is very down to earth. I loved his class!

I came back to college after six years and was assigned Prof. Vassiliou and am glad I was. I think he's an outstanding teacher. He's very fair and never blindsides you with something. He responds to all my emails and has a fun way of teaching. I can see how people might dislike him. He expects more than most and doenst let a lot slide. Take!!

I love Dr. V! At first I thought we weren't going to see eye to eye, but then I realized that he is very passionate about what he does and really cares if we "get it" or not. He was very helpful and I learned A LOT! As long as you show up and do your work, you'll get an A! If you're a serious student, take his class!

It's an easy class. Show up on time, do the assignments, and be friendly. You have one 2500 word research essay with 40 sources to write, along with two other small papers the content of which he doesn't really grade.

He acts as if his class is the only thing you have to do, and is very full of himself (often refers to himself in the third-person, as "Dr. Vassiliou"). We also had to do an 8 page paper with 30 sources! It was on Sandra Cisneros, who we didn't get to pick. Also, the short story summaries are a pain. I would not recommend him, at all.

Super smart and very intellectual. Very difficult to pass with minimal effort. Memorization skills will be a huge benefit. Best classes Ive ever had (I took him three times)

I wasn't supposed to have Dr. Vassiliou to begin with, but am extremely grateful I ended up with him. It seems like a whole lot of work to be done, but in the end it's all worth it. You don't need a textbook, he gives you what ends up being a book of handouts. He has perfected his teaching strategies and it extremely structured. The BEST!

Best Professor I took at SAC. He loves teaching and if you are willing to do the work, you are going to get a lot out of this class. Many people were dropped from this class for attendance, but it shouldn't have been a surprise to them. He laid out what he expects and you didn't get any surprises. I hope there aren't too many typos here. LOL

The most incredible professor I have ever encountered. Wish I could take the class over and over or more so that he would go to coffee with me and tell me stories of his family during the war. Superb teacher/man/Doctor!

If you want to learn, this is the class for you. Expectations are high and you will be required to do much work; however, Dr. Vassiliou is an excellent teacher and ultimately cares about his students a great deal. He is also very helpful. Definitely recommend for those who don't mind doing the work.

This is the best teacher I have ever had. He really cares and you learn so much in his class. Just a few assignments to do although they are pretty tough but a great teacher. If you show to his class you will learn more then you ever have in English. Fantastic!

Amazing teacher! he does not belittle you. you do have to read and write papers pretty much every week but he's hilarious and a really good teacher. He wants you to know what your reading. LOVED his class. He really knows his stuff and you do have to go to class. he doesn't like it when your late but he won't mark you absent.

I took his class about a year ago, we started out with 30+ students only 6 made it to the final. He is Crazy about MLA and how American know nothing about proper English. He has had like 5 wife's and i can understand why, i could barley put up with him though the semester.

He's really cool, if your going to college to learn and expand your mind he is the person to take. If your just attenting to further your career and you have a job and kids its really hard to juggle this class. I would recomend it, you learn alot but its just time consuming.

I go to the University of Arkansas, but took Dr Vassiliou's class over the summer while I was home. He is the best professor I have had throughout my college career. Though he was tough, he wasn't a "hard" teacher. He has the ability to pull the very best work out of you. I learned so much, and I am grateful I had the chance to take him.

Okay, here is the truth: I write better in this class now, prior to taking it. He's a good person. Full of himself? Yes. He worked hard for the PhD. Not that anyone cares. I'm not going to take him for his 1302, I need an easier class. But, if I had to redo my 1301, it'd be with this guy. He cares.

This professor is passionate about his career. He is VERY passionate about his career. Even though he is preachy, his preaching is very insightful. This class was easy. East to understand, easy to get a great grade in. THE best teacher you will ever have. He works from his own handouts. So much better than any textbook.

I attend the University of Kansas now in large part because of Dr. Vassiliou. As for the person saying he's full of himself, how dare you! He is one of the most intelligent people I've ever met, and if you had a PhD you'd care too! Dr. Vassiliou is a great guy and actually turned into a good friend to me. Dr. V was an amazing instructor and teacher; he has a print out for everything, and it's very simple to follow. Besides his lenghthy lectures on life, it's a easy A class. He wants to see all his student succeed in life.

Took World Lit 2 Fall'10. He is a great Professor and sets his expectations & standards day one. He has drop slips for students who arrive late. He required summarys for all readings in a specific format. Show up to class on time & do your work & you will get an A. I would take another class with him. Very memorable Professor.

Dr V. is a very tough professor, attendance is a must.If you do your work and you follow what he tells you, you will pass. You have work for your grade. He's a brilliant guy. I loved going to his class. You won't regret taking him, and you will learn.

Dr. Vassiliou is an eye-opening instructor. I remember I read that on this website and decided to take him. VERY TRUE. The entire semester, he gets you ready to write 1 essay. If you get started early, you'll get a good grade. Just get everything he tells you to! He even dedicates classes to making sure you have the proper papers for the essay.
