He is awsome! You will be surpised how he teach, and open for any type topic. Very caring and funny.

Heffler is a wonderful teacher and really makes you look forward to attending each of his sessions. He truly gives "teaching" a new meaning. You understand every subject he teaches and makes the experience enjoyable. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM!!

The one class I actually looked forward to going to. 85% of the time you are just watching speeches. If you attend class and put a little bit of effort (very little), you will undoubtedly pass. You have to actually TRY to fail. Really kick back class but still gets business done.

He's a great teacher. Really helped everyone improve. Everyone was best friends by the end of the semester. It was very easy to get an A. He was not a hard grader at all. Way too easy, in fact.

Mr. Heffler is undoubtedly one of the best teachers at gcc. He gives a fair amount of hw. Makes everybody feel very comfortable speaking and is just an amazing teacher. If you come to class and put effort you shall recieve a fair grade and he looks like PHIL JACKSON. The class is also extremely fun.

He is a very good teacher, BUT...he does not make the grades very accessible, especially at the end.He gives good grades when you still see him, but after the final...he grades hardddd. If you want to get A you better work hard.

AMAZING TEACHER! This is the way a speech class is supposed to be taught. He will make you love speech, make you want to major in speech and then come back to GCC and teach it. His class is very fun and you really feel like you have taken the next step up the educational ladder. LEARN SPEECH THE HEFFLER WAY, THE RIGHT WAY!

He's not as strict as other Speech professors and doesn't have a stop watch timing your speech because he believes if you've said what you had to and got your message through then that's enough. He's nice and makes class enjoyable.

Nice guy, very helpful, makes you comfy. if ur feelings nervous about speaking. BUTTTT......a very tricky grader. Sometimes even kind of unfairly. Overall, he pretty much has to like you in order for you to get an A.

Love this guy!! He has a wonderful personality and really bonds with the students in the class. He expects a lot out of you, but makes you feel like you are capable of a lot! Very encouraging and makes even the shyest person comfortable. Great proffesor and all around great guy!!! Take him for sure!

Mr. Hef is the best teacher I've taken while attending GCC. You can't ask for a cooler speech teacher. He encourages and helps students reach their full potential. He doesn't time speeches which is super cool. I learned so much from this guy I encourage anyone interested in speech to take him. If you do tell him Brandon LeBlanc says wassssup.

daammn...Mr. Heffler let us have sooo many parties during our session because our class had a great bond during the summer. He's the coolest teacher, really helpful and will support you to death. Great attention getters every single day of class, talk about the electoral college and ull get an A+ fo sho. great person!!!

People think they got a low grade because Hef didn't like them. That sounds like something a 6 yr old would say. People who are outgoing, passionate, funny and eloquent give good speaches. Those same people also connect easily with others. "A" means you're an excellent speaker. Most people aren't. Grow up and take responsibility for your grade.

He is a great guy. I do agree he does grade u based on if u get along with him like friends. At first, he might scare u off b/c of thick syllabus, but don't worry. He did lie that he will get A do most of the people, but he didn't. He do recommend u 2 read the book, so u can get a grade.Do good on ur speeches, u will be fine... and don't miss class

A very passionate teacher. he motivates his students to do their best. However, his grades harsh on speeches and outlines. i did decent on speeches, well on essays and got an A on the final( read the book). but i ended up with a B. i some what agree with the fact that you better be his best friend for that A

Professor Hefler is my FAVORITE teacher!!! he is a GREAT guy and he's an easy grader! This guy cracks me up and he is so enthusiastic about his class even though public speaking is not my forte! He's AMAZING! The kid of guy you can kid around with! Real friendly! Take this class...NO REALLY!!!

Mr. Heffler is the best professor to have for speech 101. He has full command of his class. The experience was much better then I thought it would be. I know that Mr. Heffler is a hard grader but this wouldn't deter me from taking any of his classes. He makes speech 101 fun. Even if I end up with a C in his class it would have been worth the time.

Professor Heffler is a remarkable teacher. For one, he does his job well, he teaches students to overcome their fears of public speaking. He is able to objectively grade speeches based on the person performance and capabilities. Listen, be active, prepare for your speeches, study, enjoy class, and you'll do well in class and get a lot from it.

Professor Heffler is HOT! He's got character and makes the class interesting. His way of teaching definitely helps students overcome public speaking. Those who gave Heffler a sad face are sad people. If you want to overcome public speaking Heffler is the BEST.

I took him for summer & he made the class really enjoyable. Just be sure to read his textbook for the final & the written works he assigns are really easy to ace. However, he's really picky about the outline formatting. Thought I'd get an 'A' but ended up with a 'B.' Still, the class was easy. He's really nice and funny.

The class is GREAT! I had sooo much fun in his class! wow I can't explain how comfortable he makes students feel when they present their speeches. HOWEVER....it was so shocking that after all the A's on my speeches and doing so well on the final I ended up with a B! I wasn't the only one, he gave manyyyy people who were supposed to get A's ...B's!

Great Guy! However, I was probally the best speaker he ever had (so dynamic that students were afraid to follow me) and got a B, because I didn't follow directions for midterm spch outline. Lost MAJOR points and it destroyed all of the brilliant speeches (all got max points) that I gave. Fair-yes, logical-no. Outlines are the Means, not the end.

Ira is friendly, enthusiastic, and very encouraging. If you show up to class, write a QUALITY outline, and deliver a nice speech to the class, there's you should get a good grade. Don't brown-nose. Be yourself, unless you are a schmuck. In that case be someone else, but don't brown-nose. I disagreed with him many times IN CLASS and still got an "A"

I took Heffler this past spring semester and so lucky I had him. Don't brown nose like the comments say below...just be yourself. Go to every class, read the textbook, write outlines (just like he wants you to <exactly>), and practice your speech; and there should be no reason you should not get an A. Take him or you'll regret it.

Walked in class in total fear, finished confident I could give a Speech anywhere! Ira was very encouraging. I got A's in most my projects, but the final. Got a B in the classs.

I wasn't looking forward to taking Speech, but Mr. Heffler made this class one of my favorites! He challenged me and help me face my fear of public speaking! Try to be in class everyday and not late! Read your book and do good on your outlines and you should do fine!:) He's the Best!!

Great teacher...came to his class fearing the speeches, he made everything so easy. He encourages you. As long as you do your outlines well and as he tells you to, expect a good grade.

OMG. The best teacher ever. hes extremely funny and he teaches well. He explains everything clearly and even spends extra time to help you with your speeches. You do four speech and a couple of essays but its fun. I enjoyed his class very much and wish other professors were just like him.

i was prepared to come to class and sleep and pass with a D, but this soon became one of my favorite classes i have ever taken. He is hilarious and makes the class participate in fun activities. I seriously recommend everyone take his speech 101 class. u wont regret it!

extremelyy easy class. he's a pretty funny guy. as long as you do your outlines & speeches, then you're good to go. he cracks jokes left & right & makes you feel extrememly comfortable speaking infront of the entire class. overall, you learn A LOT from Heffler. i suggest everyone wanting to take speech 101 takes it with him! :D

Prof. Heffler is amazing at what he does. Makes class fun and engaging. You have to be retarded not to be able to get at least a B in his class. He tells you OVER and OVER what he's looking for: EYE CONTACT, TRANSITION STEPS, 5-part INTRODUCTION, etc... overall, this was one of my fav. classes at gcc.

He scares you in the beginning, but his class is not hard as long as you do all the work he tells you to do. I really enjoyed taking him. Fun class, recommended

Oh Heffler. This guy's a peach. Overall, the class was a great experience. He is a very reasonable grader, but make sure you do the speech outlines correctly or bad things will happen. Also, attendance is mandatory, but you'll want to attend class so that shouldn't be a problem. Speech with Heffler is unlike any class you'll take in college. Trust.

Ira Heffler is the best Speech teacher ever. He sounds hard but if you guys put time and listen to his notes and copy it down wont have any problem getting A in the class. 2 small essays for midterm 30 questions for final. 4 Eazy speech. i would recommend everyone to get this class because you will enjoy the class as much as i enjoyed it.

Ira is a great teacher. He is a stickler for promptness and attendance though. Recommend reading the book, as the final is on the key terms from the reading. Always willing to help students and just an all around nice guy.

I enjoyed his class, but i did not like his grading. Based on what he said after my each speech, i was doing great, all my outlines were marked perfect, i attended all his classes,i did well in final, and my midterms were great, but i got a B just i think because of not having a visual aid for one speech. Do you think that he grades fairly????

Listen and follow all the rules and things that you must do. Do the transition walk and everything else. Follow all the guidelines. If you need to just take this class and if you don't care about learning then take another easier teacher. He is the hardest, but he is the best.

He is a great teacher and a great guy. However, he takes things very very seriously. As in u have 2 do everything perfectly. He doesn't understand that we are just learning this material, he expects you to be a professional from the first day. My advice is to not take this teacher since he is too hard!!

Great, fun class! Hefler is sweet and understanding. He will answer all your questions and help you get a good grade, if you are willing to put some effort. You will be doing a speech every 1 or 2 weeks and there is a final written (easy). No need to read the book. Take him!!!

One of the most enthusiastic teachers i've ever had the pleasure of meeting. He is wonderful with students who show active interest, his grading is based mostly on content and structure, not the easiest grader but i got more out of his class than any other. You HAVE to take this guy, He's AWESOME!!

Mr. Heffler is the man! Wow, what an amazing teacher. I was honestly not looking forward to this class but he made me love it. He is very helpful and wants the best for everyone. He makes sure everyone is comfortable and gives the classroom a family vibe. Do what your supposed to do, and you will receive a great grade. Don't be nervous, take him!!

I went into this class freaking out but I ended up not wanting the semester to end. I slack off all the time but you actually want to do good in this class. Aside from Heffler being super awesome he is very clear on what he wants. Getting an A is as simple as paying attention and being well prepared. The only test is the final and even if you fail the final, the A's you'll get on each speech will give you an A in the class.

What can I say about Dr. Heffler? Wonderfully imaginative in his teaching style and super easy to listen to. In short, I believe Professor Heffler to be the best teacher I have ever had the privilege to be taught by.

I never liked speaking in public, but after this class and having this professor I will never be the same. I gave my first speech on manual transmission cars and my persuasive speech on why we should all go to strip clubs. No censorship. Great guy fun class. I would take the class again just for fun. Don't let his class pass you buy. Very hands on.

Took his once a week & we were like a family! Mostly b/c of Heffler :) I really did not like public speaking & have been avoiding this class for awhile, but need it for transfer. I'm so thrilled that I pucker into his class b/c of it's time slot - lol. I even did a competition for extra credit. Highly recommend !!!!!!

You must waste your money on the damn book that he never goes over that you will use for the 200 point worth final ! if you fail drops your grade badly. he is a funny, caring, teacher recommended but the final sucks, study all book chapter wells before hand. hard on his speech outlines

He is the best in what he is doing. Helpful and funny. Very charismatic. Don't miss classes though. And prepare your speeches, it's not that hard afterall. And don't leave all the textbook reading to the end of semester! Anyway, I would highly recommend him, he is not that easy, but at least you will know the subject.

Mr Heffler is an amazingly charismatic and passionate man and professor. I gained so much confidence from taking this class. He encourages controversial topics. Make sure your outline is perfection. The final is a multiple choice test, make sure you read the book..!

Professor Heffler is great! Besides being very clear and fair, he is a caring person who wants his students to try new things and break out of their shell. I always looked forward to his class. If you want an easy A by doing nothing all semester, this isn't for you. You have to write and perform many speeches, but it's worth it in the end!

I'm sooooo thankful I took Professor Heffler's Speech class! He is caring, helpful, and funny! Im so glad I got in a class filled with such amazing classmates. Everyone respected each other and we became a family! Though giving speeches are nervewracking, everyone was so supportive. So glad I took that class :)

He is an incredible professor!! You will no regret taking his class. He tells you exactly what he wants in the speeches and you only do 4. For the midterm you just have to do 2 easy essay. And for the final do the practice tests online and you'll be fine. As well as do the extra credit!!!

Ira is an amazing professor! Follow his outline for your speech and you will be set. It's hard to get a bad grade in this class. Do your 4 mandatory speeches and you'll be fine. This class has definitely improved my public speaking skills.

BEST TEACHER EVER! Very clear on what he expects from your speeches. Make sure to do the outlines how he says and get started on your speeches ahead of time (only 4 speeches). Gives brief lectures on some days. Never talks about the book but make sure to read it because the 200 point 50 question final is based off the book. Don't be late to class!!

Scared of talking in front of people? This is your guy! He is an amazing professor with a huge heart. He really does motivate you and helps you conquer your fear on public speaking. he is big on time so DON'T BE LATE! The final isn't that difficult but STUDY!

Absolutely loved this class mainly bc of the professor. Heffler is an amazing amazing professor and really knows how to teach and help you conquer fear of public speaking. I was surprised to see there were empty seats in my class bc I believe that everyone needs to take him especially for a Speech 101 class. Absolutely loved his way of teaching.

One of the best professors GCC had to offer. His overall attitude and compassion towards his students made him an excellent instructer & an even better person. His teaching style was very clear and effective. Spring 2015 is actually his last semester (he's retiring) so I'm afraid you guys won't have the pleasure of being in his class.
