if you don't miss a class and pay attention to everything he says, he's an easy professor. if you miss a few classes and don't keep up with his lightening fast pace you're in for a hard time. this guy teaches fast and from his own notes.
Go to all his classes, pay attention to what he says. He's a very generous final grader, he's a little out their and unorthodox in his teaching but will give you the benefit of the doubt.
Very fast teaching pace, and can't be interupted for questions, and runs away the second class ends.
he's not very good but he seems to be an easy grader.
Reasonable exams and tries to give many points on the exams. However, he speaks fast and does not let you ask questions.
He is so fast, better catch up quicker. He is very kind that tell you what to study for final. So better pay close attention every single word come out from his mouth, because he is not gonna repeat again.
hopefully your class doesn't do too well on the midterm, otherwise you're gonna come out crying from the final. I've never had a professor who tried to trick the students, he gave a review sheet and said thats all we needed to know and gave the opposite.
He's a very generous grader. He goes very fast so you really have to read before coming to class oy you won't understand anything. He gives topics before the exam, so you won't waste your time studying for useless information. I'd recommend him.
I took him for 3100&4100. He is very specific about what he covers in class so you won't be lost. Gives very good handouts. Gives an outline for the exams, are not very hard but youhave to know the material. I did good in both his classes.generous grader.
not too thrilled. do not take. lightning fast and exams are subjective. generous grader because he needs to curve in order for someone to get an A. I dont think anyone got an A though
Worst professor.... IN THE WORLD!!! Do not take anything with him under ANY circumstances!
He tells you all you have to do is study what he tells you to for the final but than gives something completely different. The midterm is a trick to get you to relax, most do good on midterm but fail the final. He thinks hes nice but hes not. Stay away

I took this class during summer 2004 & I found the class not difficult at all it's easier than acct. 3000 & 3100.He told us what to study for the midterm & final and we got no suprises in the exams. Very funny guy.
he is not easy. He can teach but the tests are very hard. He is an ok grader with a big curve at the end.
He is one of the lecturer for the Becker CPA review. He really knows how to teach and he knows his stuff very well. I really learned a lot from his class. He talks fast so a tape recorder might be needed. I only got 73 on the midterm and he gave me B- at the end.
he is an Ok professor but tough to pass. Tough exams.
He is a hard prof. teaches like you know the stuff already (b/c a instructor for Becker CPA review course). Very mean to students and need to work real hard, learn course material yourself, no help from him. Gives 3 exams and print outs for class.
People say that his test is hard. I rather say that test is fair enough. If you study, you get the points. Otherwise you do not.
He is horrible! First of all, he's very lazy. He doesn't offer any help at all, and he teaches this course as a review-course expecting you know everything already. So if you want to learn something, do not take him!
i agree with the person on 4/18/04..the test are fair and he tells you what to expect on the test..and he really does get you thinkin about takin the cpa exam..
He is a terrible professor. He is basically giving you a review for the CPA not actually teaching you anything
If you're an accounting major you should not be mad at all at the fact that he talks about CPA a lot. He's fair, told us everything we needed to know for the test. He expects you to know everything you should know before taking Financial II, if you don't know what debits and credits are that's your own fault. I would definitely take him again.
He teaches very fast and his test are very tough..except for the first one...i though i was goin to get a higher grade on his class..
Well, I got a good grade from this class.(I had thought I would have failed.) His exams were so hard, and He went too fast. If you don't do well on exams, don't worry, because he will curve.
Very very hard, but did the work and got an A. Tells exactly what to expect on the exams.
His exams are very tough however, you should not worry too much about the grades you have on the exams because its not a true reflection on your final grade as well as how much you know.I got a good grade but expected a better one but I learnt alot and feel more confident about taking the CPA
First of all,I got a good grade for this class, but I feel like I didn't learn anything. I understand that it's good to know about the CPA and things, but it's not as important as learning the material itself. I just cannot take the fact that he came to class and spent a whole class on taking about CPA and his life.
he is a easy grader, he will told you what to study before the exam, just focus on the material and study hard, reeally learn it, u will just do fine. he talks really fast tho, u gotta listen carfully.
A horrible professor. Not recommended. He will fail you for fun.
I'm only rating this prof. becos the comment on 8/8 is completely wrong. I'm in the same class with that person this summer. Prof. Weissman can teach, really teach. He makes his own handout not like other Prof. that copy/read from a power point presentation created by an unknown. H e tells u what to expect in his exams & there were no surprises
Yes, this professor talks very fast and its real hard to keep up with him at times. But he does give out handouts that are pretty helpful and he also tells us exactly what type of problem we are to expect on the exam so that there are no surprises. The questions were pretty fair and he also curves the final grade.
2 exams. His lectures are not helpful at all. You have to study on ur own for a good grade. Personally, I don't think he is a fair prof since he used the same exam in the regular semester. If u get the exam paper before the final, then u probably get an A. Otherwise, u will f??k up ur GPA when u take him in summer.
2 Exams, all problems. Not easy, but ok. His handouts help cutting reasonable amount of time needed for studying. One more thing, he curves alot, especially when u show improvement on the final. I messed up the midterm, but finally got an A.
The worst professor in Baruch. Dont take him.
one of the worst if not the worst professor in baruch
OMG! this guy talks REALLY fast!! Basically, even if you go to his lectures its useless and he can't repaply explain much to you. Also, his test questions are very hard and I have no idea where he pick them out!! AVOID AT ALL COST!
his exams are hard, and he talks really fast, however, he curves alot
This professor sucks!!!!! Do yourself a favor and do not take him if you want to graduate with an accounting degree. He talks to fast and won't help you at all.
This is the worst professor I had in Baruch. He talks really fast. There is nopoint of going to class because nothing will be learned. Also, he is not helpful at all. He announced a midterm a week before it was going to take place and he didn't announce what will be on the midterm. I REALLY HAVE TO STRESS THIS: DONT TAKE HIM.
He uses the same exams, but he doesnt give them back. He told us waht to study for the first exam, and it wasnt that bad, but the second exam he didnt even give a review. Study the notes he gives in class, the book is horrible, and he isnt a good professor. The bad thing is Accounting doesnt have good professors in general. So be careful. Oh a
You will have to take good notes because he does things the way he wants and doesn't follow the book. Good luck if you get stuck with him.
If you want to breeze thru this class and get an easy A, don't take him. Be ready to put in a lot of work, but he is really fair, gives 10 point curve and tells you what to expect from him on exams. In order to get good grade, have to put in a lot of time to study. If there was FIN 4, I would take him again.
One of worst professors in baruch. I'm an A student and really stuggled in his class. VERY HARD to get an A. Doesnt know how to teach. Exam are VERY VERY HARD and u will not learn anything. take Balkaran or Davis...they have a lot more to offer in terms of grading and learning. DO NOT TAKE HIM
the WORST...i agree with the post below...take Davis or Balkaran...doesnt teach and goes way too fast to nowhere...you will have to learn everything on ur own...exams are VERY hard
It's not quite fair to say that this professor doesn't teach you anything. i'm taking beckers now, and my current teacher goes 10 times faster. a lot of learning is up to you, but this is college, last i checked.
He is a good professor. I liked him.
well his class is fine, but his exam are HARD, SO HARD, plus he teaches way too fast, you don't even know what the hell he's talking about, and there're lots note taking. when exam came, the only thing you can do is STUDY HARD. if you can take other professors.
there are two kinds of students will get a good grade in this class, one is study extremly hard, I mean the one without minds and entertainments in their life; another one is born with smart. by the way, curve only happens in summer sessions, not regular semesters. and you won't learn a thing in his class even this is a very hard class, only confus
This is a crazy hard class, there is no way to get an A with all the effort I was putting into in this class. I made such stupid choice by taking him. extremely difficult class.
I don't seems to understand student's the class is a difficult class. it's a 4100 level accounting class what do they expect to do write journal entries give me a brake. He prepares for the class and the CPA. only exam #2 is difficult he tells you exactly what is in the exams you must study for his exams he is the best thing for 4100 you learn.
Nice guy!! Horrific teacher!!! He should be retired! Goes way too fast, as if this is a review course. Even if you ask him to slow down he cant... Speaks 100 miles an hour and constantly makes mistakes that need to be corrected.. and throws your concentration off. I had to learn everything from the book. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!!!!!

Review unbiased - did not receive my grade yet. Summer., exams hard but fair. The prof is great and is above in knowledge than other acct profs in Baruch. In this class all you got to do, like in any class for that matter, study and study hard like you want to learn something. Important read and try the comprehensive review prblms before class.
Whatever material he taught, thats what was on the exam.I didnt like the fact how he never told us how much time we have prior to started exams, especially on the final! Overall, he was a good professor, curves exams and is very specific on what he wants.
He talks really fast...so its kind of hard to follow what he is saying if you cannot listen that fast. His materials are helpful the textbook is not but he does cover some examples from the text book. You have to study very hard to do well in his class. He will tell you mostly what is going to be on the exam. Study what he say and you should be ok.
Speaks too fast. Doesn't explain well. Exams are hard.
This prof is really good, smart and is very encouraging in pursuing the students to take the CPA or just doing good in acct. Dont let the negative reviews scare you here. Just do the work assigned and what is stressed in class. You'll be ok. Helpful is to read chaps., before the class. His tests are based on what he covers in class.
I took this class in summer. Class is challenging. He speaks fast but if you read chapters assigned before you will understand and will not be lost. Good for those who think about CPA. He is a Becker CPA review instructor too. He is an expert in accounting. Pay attention to evrything stressed in class esp.,Govt accounting.Bring a recorder, take notes
ok... This prof just screwed up my 3.9 GPA... avoid at all cost. He talks way too FAST. This is bs. If you want to cry after the final, then feel free to do so.
If u love challenging ur skills and studying everything by urself, u will be fine in his class. Good luck!~
His tests are really hard!! He will test you something u didint practice in the class before on the final. He Speak too fast!!! All my friends study extremly hard, but got a really low grade. Please, do yourself a flavor, dont take him.!!
I had to drop the class because even with the aid of the textbook it is impossible! to understand what this guy is talking about and he will manage to confuse you, even if you were not confused before; he does not like students asking questions and tells you to pay attention or check in the book. TOTALLY USELESS. I took a different professor and pa
Avoid at any cost, wait a semester, take the course in another school, anything, just avoid him, DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!
He is not easy i dont think there are easy acct professors but i received B+ and earned it, you have to study for his class
He is a total waste of time. Horrible Prof. He is now teaching 2000 level for Spring 2008. This is bad because those students will have a terrible foundation
Wow if a person has a 3.9 gpa he must be a genius hmm... I have a 3.2 gpa and did good in class and my GPA did not go down. Study for his class don't wait until the test keep up to his pace, practice especially study for govt acct., otherwise a good professor. Read before, will help to understand the material and concepts.
He pretends to care about the students but he does not. He cannot teach and has a big problem if students ask questions. STAY AWAY!!!!!
Inconsiderate to students needs. Not fexible at all and does not care. DO NOT TAKE HIM OR U WILL BE SORRY!!!!!!
Professor Weissman is very easy to understand. His tests were extremely fair. The workload was managable. He is a very nice guy.
Terrible. Absolutely terrible. Do not take him. Too busy to care about students' success. Brings exams to class missing half the questions then punishes you for it. This guy is miserable.
Professor Weisman is not a good accounting teacher at all. He doesn't email students back and his tests were horrible. Almost all his tests had a few questions missing and he does punish the students for his own mistakes. He not a good Professor at all.
Okay...he is not the best professor but he knows his stuff. He only tests you on what he covers in class. Record the lecture and listen back to it. He tells you what exactly is going to be on the tests. The tests weren't easy but managable. For senior students, he is just not hard. Baruch students just have to study a bit harder for his class.
I knew students took his class because he was the only choice according their schedule. If you have choices, please do not take his class.Either you have some friends who can tell you what is on exam, or you are smart enough your ACCT GPA is above 3.9!! Trust ME! Even though he thought that he is the best professor at Baruch, I do not think that.
After I posted my comments.. I found some problems.. " according to.. not according", and " smart enough to get", not "smart enough over acct GPA over 3.9"... Please do not take.. I really saw many students had problems.. right before graduation!
took his class in Spring 2008 (after taking it and dropping it 3 prior times). Best professor i had by far. The key to doing well in Acc (and in his class) is read the book before class and do homeworks, then attend class to reinforce concepts; yeah his tests had some mistakes but pobody's nerfect. (I got an A-, by the way)
Absolutely the worst. I've had many bad professors, but this guy has no business teaching. He thinks we are in a review class--even if we were reviewing it would still be bad. AVOID AT ANY COST
i know acc 4100 is hard but this prof make if very very hard because of his exam avoid to take him any cost take some one else
Avoid Weissman at all cost. Trust me this guy will make you suffer like none else has done it. He should be fired from Baruch. He thinks that he is helping his students, but instead he just confusses them more than ever. So, believe me do not take him or you would regret it. considered yourself warned.
Wow, this guy's been teaching over 30 years. He knows a lot about accounting but he just does not know how to teach. Forced you to buy the $20 class notes (dont buy it, u can make copies from other students). The textbook is useless because the analysis of the textbook is completely different from what he teaches. No homework, 2 exam 1 final.
Weissman isn't that bad. The notes he makes you buy are outdated, but he tests you basically on that. His tests are old, some have errors in them, but they are fair. He's hard in that he doesn't really have a systematic way of teaching, but he is a very lenient grader. Take him if you have a strong ACC background
This guy is hard, but you probably need to take his class because you dont have other choices. He's been using the old exams (both 2 midterms & 1 finals) for over 15 years. He is very unorganzied and has a lot mistakes on the class materials. If you compare Prof Huang Rong to him, Huang is heaven & Weiss is hell. good luck guys.
The nightmare is over.Extra materials $20,if x15 yrs u?ll find he?s loaded.Exams dated 96 and u can tell how much work he did these yrs. When ask him questions,u?ll get response only once,no further explanations. If u still puzzle,he begins walk away or turn to someone else.He just wants to keep u busy with the exams. Finally u?ll find learn nothing.
He is just a jerk. I agree with the comment that said he is hell. He makes the exams very very hard and confusing and later carves the exam. His exams had some questions from the chapters that were not cover yet.
He doesn't go over the exams. So if you have a question about the exam it won't be answered. He does not care about his students.
I wasted my time and money by taking his class. Result? I study my ass off just to get a B. The hell with him and his carves. Atleast 30% of the first exam were on those subjects that he didn't cover it yet. So he had to carve it in order for 50% of the class to pass. He is intelligent as an accountant but useless as a teacher.
Baruch needs to fire this guy. Old exams testing from over a decade ago, tests based mostly on his illegible, xerox copied notes (which you pay $20 for), doesn't give clear answers to student questions--enough already! And now he's teaching graduate level courses!! What is wrong with a school with such a great reputation for the accounting program.
He said he got the class last minute but, that doesnt excuse a Midterm that had nothing to do with what we learned. Unorganized and sloppy handouts. Hw and Quizes Online. Not very helpful eager to move on with the class. If you know Accounting well take him.
basically the key to passing is recording his lectures and taking good notes. he speaks really fast, and almost everything he says is relevant. his tests are straight from the notes, so u have to go to class and write down what he says. 2 midterms, 1 final. he curves, but dont just rely on that to get a good grade. all in all take someone else
This is not an easy class but Weissman is good. There is not much work aside from a midterm and final. You absolutely must read the chapter before class bc he will not go through it, instead he will go over some problems and discuss related topics. He cares about students and knows a lot, definitely show up everyday
He is a nice man and but not a good professor. He does not make time for students outside of office hours. He gives handouts and writes the solutions on the board without explaining the theories. The only students who got A and A- were those with a strong accounting background. His midterm was nothing like the homeworks or the online quizs.
I love this guy. He is a great teacher and the tests were like the handouts he went over in class. I thought he explained things well and was good at answering questions.
He is a nice man but I think his class is gr8 for ppl that already have an accting background. Tells funny stories. A lot of work. Keep up w/ readings. Concepts tested on midterm were not hard, but phrasing of some problems was confusing so it was hard to answer. Buy textbook w/ the online access code b/c that's where you submit your HW & quizzes.
Professor Weissman certainly has a good sense of humor and he really knows accounting stuff. But I would be surprised if had any grounding in formal educational theory. The guy doesn't really teach, or understand what "teaching" is. As a grad student, I certainly don't need a lot of handholding, but I do need guidance.
An ok teacher! He generally solves problem and he expects you to read the chapters before coming to the class. Exams are very tricky, he generally tells you what will be on the exam but it will be worded poorly. So to do good, do the best you can on whatever he says its on the exam. Curves a lot in the end!
He is OK teacher. He makes jokes. The best tactic is to record his class and go over the notes at home. Homework is irrelevant but it gets you 10%. He tells you what to study for exam.Go over the problems he did in the class, and for MT do end of chapter concept questions, I knew all problems but messed simple concept questions.Easy to get B or B+
makes you spend $20 on photocopies of old notes that are really blurry, clearly trying to make a profit from his students. goes over material too quickly and gets annoyed when you ask questions. get a recorder and record lectures or else you'll fall behind. best to avoid him at all costs, only take him if you have no other choice.
He is awfully disorganized. He doesn't use the slide, has bad handwriting, and teaches from his 20-year-old xerox notes. He speaks so fast that you can hardly understand his words. He should RETIRE and sit at a nursing home. Stop him from destroying Baruch's reputation, please!
Disaster, speaks very fast, uses his old 1800s becker CPA notes to teach, never uses books...worst hand writing , sometimes insults students, looks like a weird joker..random grades, used same old exams again and again.Cmon, inshort RUN AWAY fm him
IT IS REALLY BAD THAT THIS GUY STIL TEACHING AND CHARGING THE STUDENTS MONEY TO BUY HIS HORRIBLE NOTES THAT YOU CANNOT EVEN FOLLOW OR READ.
Terrible Prof. Worst of the Worst! Avoid him! Refuse to release our midterm examine paper and answer, just give you the score. No slides and the course are not well-organized. His teaching notes looks like rubbish, ambiguous, vertical and horizontal notes squzzed in one A4 notes. What he taught is not related to what he tested!
Bad Prof.
He teaches very easy issue and tested you hard issue never mentioned in the class. He is very hard to make an appointment.Invite Becker CPA review to do the marketing and sales in our class without informing students before. After the 40 mins CPA marketing event, our 90 mins class was dismissed! He violates the honor of being the educator!
Avoid him if you can! You should feel lucky if you are not taught by him!
never takes attendance. don't buy the textbook, use his notes only. tells u exactly what's on the test. the material is hard but doable. killer final though! :) good luck!
Great professor...do the home works and you'll easily pass...usually those who don't do well are ones who don't attend his useful lectures.
Nice Guy. Little Quirky. Curves a ton. 90% of the class got As and Bs. You would be silly not to take him for Advanced. Comments are unforgiving here because I think only the 10% of the class that didn't get As/Bs commented thus far. Also helpful for CPA prep.
He is an ok professor, not as bad as the below comments make it seem. He teaches his class more like a review course and goes through the martial really fast. You have to read the book before class to understand what he’s talking about. He does curve a ton, 90% of class will get A or B. His tests have 2 big problems and 10 or 15 multiple choice
If you're like me and learn best by solving problems before a lecture, Weissman will be terrible. He refuses to give textbook solutions, goes over whatever he feels like in class, and talks so fast that you can't take meaningful notes. If you ask a question - he'll get annoyed, say that he went over that already, and just repeat his notes verbatim
He doesn't tell you why, just tells you the steps to solve a problem. As a beginner in Advanced Accounting, you will learn nothing from him. I tried to read the textbooks before class in order to understand his lectures and it doesn't help at all. Because what he teach in class is different from the textbook. He has his own way to solve a problem.
Nice enough person before final exam who wants to see students succeed. However, teaches at too fast a pace for most. Every class felt to be more of a sales pitch for Becker's CPA preparation course than an actual Advanced Financial Accounting class which requires time for students to learn steps and reasoning for procedures. Not approachable.
Hates answering questions, doesn’t explain anything well, tough exams but curves a lot. Very tough to understand when he talks. Good luck.
He speaks extremely fast & I'm a non-English speaker. So basically, I learn it all by myself. He's not type of person who like to help. He teaches many classes in different schools so he comes late and leaves early. He gives no homework and only has 3 exams but they are very hard. Fortunately, he provides answers to exercise, good for self-learning
I don't his lectures made it easier for me to understand any topic he taught. His tests were somewhat hard. Im pretty sure most were CPA questions. He gives a pretty big curve. He seems like a nice guy at first but don't bother asking for his help.
Professor Weissman was really down to earth and shared his experiences candidly with the class. He was inclusive and equitable and always took time to explain things when we asked questions. He wrote a lot on the board which was helpful and give good review classes before the exam. He tells you exactly what you need to do to get an A.
There's nothing i can say that hasn't been said already. I assure you that its all true. Additionally, every handout the professor provides has a typo in it.
Unfortunately, Professor is not very helpful. I didn't want to take him, but had no choice. I ended up dropping the class. He knows the subject very well, but he can't explain it the way others could understand. He doesn't go step by step to explain how he got answers, he just distributed handouts, saying "All the #s in there."
Prof. Weissman is a very nice man and is always there for his students. Yes, the material is complicated, and you definitely have to put a lot of effort in order to do well in this class, but hey, it's an Advanced Accounting, not an introductory course. The exams were difficult, but totally doable - if you paid attention in class and read the book.
Honestly you won't learn anything in this class, you are better off learning by yourself. Test are alright and he does curve a ton. Practice problems from the back of the textbook or study from a CPA book and you'll "probably" be fine. Goes way too fast and just reads off the handout that he gives out. His handouts are very brief.
Attendance was mandatory and the lecture did not contribute at all to the topic. Better off studying on your own. I was already a sr accountant when I took this class & didn't have the patience for the lack of academic value that this class provided. Thanks to weissman, consolidations were my weakest topic both at work and sitting for the CPA exam
Great professor who explains all relevant topics with shortcuts to make process easier. Expect to read the book and the chapter handouts as supplements. Handouts include test prep questions. Tests are easy if the effort is there since questions are end-of-chapter questions difficulty level including CPA and CMA Prep questions.
The handouts he provides is the KEY!! Its very clear and explains in the way that is understandable. Textbook not necessary. Took him in the summer. His exams are not easy but passable. Just study & practice. He has a great amount of experience teaching & with CPA. Definitely take him. He doesn't pressure but inspires. Wish I could take him again.
Prof. Weisman is one of the best professors in baruch. He really wants his students to do the best of their ability. Textbook not necessary because the handouts he provides are the best. He goes over his notes in the class and explains all relevant topics with shortcuts to make process easier. That is why Attendance is mandatory.
He is super helpful. Always available to meet. Responses to email within a few hours. Great professor that really cares about his class
EASY PROFESSOR, EASY EXAM!! TAKE HIM IF U WANT AN A . TEXTBOOK NOT NEEDED SO U SAVE MONEY
I took prof. Ira's class despite the bad reviews. I don't regret it at all. I wish I could take my 3100 class with him. You know what to expect with prof. Ira, not like my current 3100 prof. He will test you on what he lectures, no surprises. You just gotta study and you'll be fine. Do go over the recommended problems.
I understand the department only allows certain number of students to get A'sor B's , and for this class, your grade make up of 3 exams. The thing confused me is that my grade just 2 points less than my friend s , but he gets B and I only C+
What he teaches is not related to what s on the test many people use test bank to get good grade
He's a good story teller (just not good at remembering he's told the stories 3x before) and a brilliant professor but the grade you get really comes down to how hard you study outside of class as your grade is just 3 tests. the curve was 1 point in our class so don't rely on it to save you as he can only give so many As, Bs, etc. good luck
The worse professor in the accounting department. He appairs to be nice and helpful but when you go to his office for any question regarding the material he will tell you to read the textbook "the answer is there".
Prof. Weissman curves scores making sure 20%A, 20%B and 30%C. His lectures are all from CPA guidance so no need for textbooks. Saved money! Tests are non-cumulative however some questions are not included in his lecture. It's quite challenging. Self-learning is so important for his class, I'd say.
Worst Terrible Prof ever. Just run Away from him.
Do not listen to those reviews, plz. He's great if you want to LEARN, his handouts are useful for the future as a recap for CPA. Let's be real, you NEED to read the book before coming to the class. You also need to read his handouts AFTER the class. He solves a bunch of problems and always there to help during office hours. Very underrated IMO
What a joke it was. Hard to hear, sit close... actually do yourself a favor don't take him
Professor Weissman is really not THAT bad. I usually tune out during class and self study. I would say the main plus of his class is NO HOMEWORK. You can study your way, on your own schedule. Great class for self-learner types who don't need a lot of hand holding. Basically, if you're the type who can read the text on your own and pass exams its 4U
He is an AMAZING PROFESSOR if you are a serious accounting student
I took ACC3000 with Professor Weissman and learned a lot he is amazing! The class consists of two tests and a final. Im taking him again this summer for ACC3100. If youre a serious accounting student and you want a professor that is available outside of class definitely take professor Wissman.
This class was only 3 exams and a few OPTIONAL case studies. Make sure to do well on the exams and you will pass. His lectures drag on and can get boring. I did most of the studying myself and got a B.
Worst professor ever. During the class he just reads through his handouts - which are not CPA related, they are just supplement materials from the book for professors, and he used it for us. No solving problems, he gives the solution and reads it during the class which was not helpful. Finishes class 45 min earlier! What a joke, and we pay for it.
Honestly despite all the bad reviews about him, he is not THAT bad. He tries his best to teach the class but you just have to learn to self-study just like all the other accounting courses at Baruch. Read the materials&textbook before each class and prepare with some specific questions to ask him during class. He's not too tech-savvy but funny guy!
avoid this professor at all costs. he spends the majority of class time either berating his students or taking about how great he is. he does not teach from the book but from handouts he gives and if he makes them, the math will be incorrect. since this semester is online, he answers his personal phone and door during class. do not take this prof!!
Very CPA based, difficult and makes class so incredibly headache inducing.
Stay away if you can!
Average professor
The most boring classes I ever had. I highly believe I can teach much better than him. Not responsive via email, he often comes rude when responding student's questions. Be ready to study yourself.
broooo, only three exams, that's it. if you are taking this online it's a piece of cake( if you know what I mean *hint hint). his PowerPoint and course documents are organized, he only gave like 1 or 2 homework I think worth 1% of your grade.. if you want to pass, its easyyy.. if you really want to learn I don't recommend
Professor Weissman is an example of why you shouldn't judge a professor based on ratings. I was nervous at first seeing his low ratings on here but come to find out, he's actually the best professor I've ever had. His tests are really straight forward which I like. Just attend lecture and do the basic studying and you will do very well.
This prof does not use a txtbk and doesn't give hw. his notes are ancient pdfs, hard to read. his exam questions and review questions are different. exam questions based off cpa/cfa qs, which is good ig but hard when ur left having to learn the material urself with no assigned txtbk. HE SUCKS DONT TAKE HIM
If you take him, study everything by yourself. His notes aren't readable and his lecture is only a bit useful. I don't mind self-study at all but the worst part of his class is that he never let you know what you did wrong in your exam. This means if he misread your choices or miscalculated your grade, you will never know. Good luck with that.
Taking him is the worst decision of my life. He reads his old notes and explains nothing. It would be best if you studied by yourself. He doesn't give any homework, just 3 exams. There r 4 optional case study which does not help. Very rude to his students, and if you ask exam questions, he will address them as useless conversation. A GPA KILLER.
You have to read the textbook to do well in his class. He doesnt really teach and most of his notes are old and hard to read. It is not hard to do well in his class if you read the textbook and do practice problems.
Take him and thank me later. Btw he uses the test bank. So study from the bank only.
Honestly, very boring. Reads from his own version of the textbook notes that take out a lot of the explanations and is extremely hard to understand. The only reason I did decent was because he recorded his online lecture but that won't be true for next semester. His teaching method is to just explain things quickly and expect you to understand.
Ira Weissman is a great person with plenty of experience in both public accounting and corporate America, he is definitely not as great of a professor as a person. His lectures are just him reading off his ancient notes. If you'd like to succeed in this class, read the textbook and self study. Only grades off his two midterms and final.
Professor Weissman is a caring professor and cares about his students however he is not the greatest at teaching the subjects for this course. If u truly want to understand the topics and possibly pass CPA exams in the future be prepared to self study. His lectures are very monotoned and doesn't give much examples to better understand the readings
I didn't feel like I learned anything in the lectures. It shows that he really cares about teaching, but his teaching style isn't for everyone.
If you want a professor to learn absolutely nothing from and pull their exams from quizlet then this is your guy. He seems nice and passionate about accounting but he's an awful teacher and his lectures are useless. He probably knows this so that's why he makes attendance mandatory and if you miss 3+ classes you auto fail the class.
This class is a mixed bag - the professor is passionate but his teaching style doesn't work for everyone. Self-study is key, and tools like Unstuck AI can be really helpful for exam prep.
Professor Wessiman often strays off-topic, sharing personal stories and complaints, creating a negative atmosphere. He speeds through material, focusing on memorization rather than comprehension, and gives unclear answers to student questions. His humor can be off-putting, and he doesn't provide exam reviews before and after. Key Word: (Abrasive)
