GREAT CLASS, ENTERTAINING PROFESSOR, FAIR GRADER
One of the best teachers at UCF, she is so down to earth and the tests are great, always MC, it also helps that she is hott!
Prof. Pons is awesome and one of the best teachers i've had in the past 4 years, i would take her if I could, if you can get in her class you're lucky
Prof Pons was really sweet but I didn't like the class... it always seemed that when I asked a question (because of the lack of clarity in assignments given), I ended up more confused than before asking. She graded on a scale more difficult than the level of instruction.
I love her!!! She is so sweet and helpful! very entertaining!
Had her for a couple of classes. Found personality engaging at first, and she seemed fun. However, in the classes I have taken, she seems to think charm replaces knowledge. She does NOT know the material, and somehow is VERY strict about grading. There are no worthwhile lectures or demonstrations of the materials. AVOID if you want to LEARN
Professor Pons is an AWESOME Professor. She used power points during most of her classes and even emails them to us. She also used youtube and interactive games to teach. She is a fair grader and her classes FILL UP really quick. She definitely knows what she is talking about, and always answered all of my questions! TAKE HER CLASS, if you can!!
She is insightful and honest about the law profession and what it takes to get there. Her classes are usually fun and I do look forward to each of them. I plan on taking many of the classes she teaches.
Pons is great! Very nice professor. Really seems to try hard to keep the material interesting. Brings in interesting guest speakers from the entertainment field, and shows interesting youtube videos pertaining to our area of study. Tests are fair and administered to promote student success. All in all I think Pons is a great professor!
She is very nice, and a lot of fun. However, the class seems to lack structure and I dont feel like I have not learned very much at all. Also, she does not seem very hard when she is teaching, in fact most lectures are very short, but she grades as if she used the entire class period and you should know the material backwards and forwards. Avoid.
Very fun to learn from, great teacher.
If you want an A, take her... If you want to actually learn something during your semester, take someone else. She's a nice woman, but lacks solid experience. If she likes your class, expect open-book exams. However, I heard if your class blows, it's a completely different story.
Her teaching ability is terrible. She seems like she is just there to be paid and not teach. She does not compehend the material she is trying to teach, I know more than she does!
She is fabulous, take her class and please don't read the rest of these.
I was really disappointed- this class was a disaster. She'd give tests/assignments&have no idea how to answer them herself. Grades were always inaccurate. She likes attention but it was distracting& unprofessional for her to flaunt her sexuality in the classroom. That class was more stressful than it should have been.
Hot! That's it!
CLass was ok! Real nice person, but felt she strutted herself a little too much!! If you have taken her you will understand. Can tell she likes to teach, but I would tell fellow students to be careful because the structure lacking a bit.
Pr. Pons is the greatest professor at UCF. She understands that you have a life and she teaches only what you need to know. I also took her for PLA 3155 and I got an A. Easy, personable, and funny. This is for the "Guys" she is really pretty. If you need a class/professor that is stress-free take her. She is Awesome.
Also took her for 4825.Entertaining,easy-going, definitely wants you to make an A.Very cool. Speaks alot on her life experiences, and makes learning fun whenever possible. Correlates youtube into her lessons. ONLY downfall is there's alot of group work which is good sometimes, but i have to say can sorta take away from really learning the material.
Fine Fine Fine. Take her, her class is easy and she is easy to look at. She knows what she is teaching and its nice to have a professor that doesnt deduct for missed classes.
this teacher is cool, i say attendance is mandatory because it is the best way to make sure you know what she is teaching since her lectures are really tied to her exams, but her lectures are extremely fun and interesting, her approach is clear and to the point. i am taking her in 3classes this semester cause she makes law really easy to understand
Take this professor for one reason only, regardless of what everyone else said. The reason is she is compassionate and understanding of life outside the classroom. Bottom line---the best professor i have ever had.
I like her, she's hot...
awesome
Professor Pons is very sweet, funny and interesting. I am taking every class she offers. You will def. learn hands on material that will help you with law school/your future in the legal field along with a merry and witty professor that is unforgettable. Her teaching style is very relaxed but you learn a lot. She is absolutely great!!! take her!!!
wonderful professor! young, funny, fair workload (most stuff done in class) you will enjoy every minute of her class. legal research/law and legal sys/civil practice and procedure are all great courses to take with Irene Pons. you'll be relieved to meet her the first day and even excited for the semester!
Prof. Pons is the best professor I have met at UCF. She is such a great person and you'll learn A LOT from her! I'm taking 5 classes (all the lgl study core courses) and she is my FAVORITE! Very down to earth!!She's the best!! Lots of fun and you actually learn
Take Prof Pons for every class possible. She will teach you things you cannot learn in a book. My absolute favorite professor.
intelligent, very interesting personality, uses current and relevant cases to discuss in class via high tech media, power points& internet, any negative postings that might be placed about Ms Pons is that she is very attractive and she covers the material quickly and will not hand feed you the infomation, whiners are lazy and don't want to do the wor
Pons is a great professor. She is very live and relaxed at the same time. I took her over Summer she didn't hold us the whole time but did cover everything that was going to be due the following week. I would recommend her to take. I wish she taught on main campus
She was nice and funny. Watched a movie and she brought her dog to class once. A couple of tests ended up being open book, which was nice. She was very unorganized though. I don't know if she had too much on her plate or what, but nothing was ready when she said it would be and she didn't actually teach. Didn't really learn anything in this class.
To be completely honest, she has no idea what she's doing. She uses tests from other professors and they questions don't correlate to the class. When she makes her own, get ready to get correct answers wrong. The class is a joke, but when the above happens, you're stuck with a B & learned nothing. Waste of time. She's a joke to all advisors/admin
TOTALLY LOVED HER. GOT A'S IN ALL HER CLASSES. VERY EASY. YOU LEARN A LOT AS WELL. VERY FUN, NOT YOUR TYPICAL BORING PROFESSOR. EXAMPLES FROM REAL WORLD. SHE HAS HER OWN FIRM. RECOMMEND IT. YOU WILL NOT REGRET, JUST DO WHAT YOU ARE ASSIGNED.
Prof Pons is great.Uses lectures+technology+real life experiences to showcase the material she's teaching, making it SUPER easy to really absorb the info.Bubbly personality.U learn more bc some assignments are hands-on (i.e. scavenger hunts to find divorce forms online, etc.) Overall amazing teacher.Do the work, ask any questions u have & get an A.
Day 1 something she said made me want to run the opposite direction, but I stuck it out and I'm glad I didnt drop! She was a LOT of fun and it was great to really learn without a text and just from her reallife experiences in her firm, etc. Plus she's young and relatable and makes things interesting.
she is really fun, but doesn't 'teach', the quizzes and final is material that was never mentioned in class. You MUST read the book in order to understand what is going on, the powerpoints do not cut it. Good teacher to take if you are taking a heavy class load and need a break class.
The positive comments on here are probably from prof Pons!Let me just say DON'T TAKE HER! When i signed up for her class i read the comments and they were mixed reviews so i just thought that the bad comments were from lazy students but i was wrong! I'm telling you don't take her!She talks more about her personal life then about legal research!
She has told everyone in the class that she writes positive comments on here so don't make the same mistake that i did by taking her. I have to take legal writing next term and it is going to be 10 times harder now because she didn't teach anything....we watched youtube videos all the time! She is really nice but i'm telling you dont take her!
First of all the professor was joking when she said that she writes all the good comments on for herself on this site. She's a good teacher. If you ask the questions she will answer them. She's willing to help, even willing to meet outside of class. (and she has funny youtube videos)
Really cool person, someone people might want to take a shot with, not learn legal research from. Im amazed she has been at UCF as long as she has. Cool person, horrible teacher.
Don't know what most of you guys are talking about. People are complaining about having to read a book to find answers..I guess college isn't for you guys. She is the most amazing professor ever. If you can't read and be able to extract answers from it then im sad to say that you are not college material.
Really fun and nice. Has a sense of humor. Go talk to her if you have any question, she's willing to help! She says no late work/quiz, but go talk to her about it, she may think of something to help you! Attendance is not mandatory, but sometimes you have in-class research work, i wouldn't risk it. But class is fun and entertaining, so why not?
Her class used to be really easy. However, some students complained that it was too easy therefore, she has gotten a lot harder. Anyhow, it her classes are very manageable and she is very helpful.
She is a funny & interesting person, but she has no business being a teacher. I can't believe UCF has let her continue to teach. Her class is easy, but there were blatant errors on all of her tests, I found 7 errors on the final and several on the midterm. She had wrong answers marked right and right answers marked wrong. NOT CUT OUT TO BE A TEACHE
I never went to class and got an A. She is a terrible teacher! Directions for assignments were vague and left most students guessing as to what we were required to do. Test had mistakes on them. I had to point out errors in order to get the grade I actually deserved/earned. Even though the class was easy, it was a pain in the butt!
She is nice but I do not think she should be teaching.
As a professor, Prof. Pons is a mystery. I can't tell whether I love her class or not. It's easy material, but the exams are hard. It's filled with those annoying "Is it A, B, C, A & B, or B & C?" that kills a lot of grades. I can't tell if I learned much but then again Legal Research is basic stuff. She's an awesome person though. Really fun.
Stop complaining. Shes a good professor. Nice, and easy to talk to. You get what you put into this class. If you want an easy "A" then work just hard enough to get it, or you can do your best work, and feel better about yourself.
Easy class but you won't learn what you need for legal writing later because she doesn't really teach you anything. She's hot though....
She is a nice person and shes busy but the whole semester her focus was obviously not on the class. I got a good grade but I did not learn anything. Now I will be taking legal writing without a good knowledge of research.
She's easy, but you probably will not learn a lot in class.
Does not teach you anything. Power Point slides are minimal and do not help with tests. You really have to teach yourself through the book.
so what can i say about this prof. her class was easy yet hard to understand. she weighed everything the same so if you did bad on the quizzes you would probably do bad in the class. her test was nonsense and i learned nothing in the class that i hadnt known already.
Prof. Pons is frenetically laid back.
I took Pons because I needed to take this class this semester, and she was the only one teaching it. As a person she's great; very funny. As a teacher, not so much. Her cousin graded our assignments & mixed up our grades. We watched YouTube videos & talked about her upcoming wedding. You teach yourself. I don't feel prepared for Legal Writing.
Pons overall is very entertainging, I actually enjoyed going to class because she is funny. As far as her going over the material, she doesn't really go over much. You have to teach yourself and read the book and powerpoints, and even then the questions on the quiz and test are extremely difficult. She will work with you though if you talk to her.
Practically no substance here. Too easy, off-task. Not college-level professional material.
Great teacher, easy to get along with. Stay on your toes in her class and youll get an A. Slack and you will fail.
She is a great Professor, easy exams, as long as long as you study and do the work it's an easy "A". I have taken several classes with her, mixed mode and regular classes with her and she explains everything.
Professor Pons is really laid back and a cool professor. She has trouble sometimes with grades on Canvas but if you bring to her attention she fixes it right away. I would take her again, very fair professor.
Awesome professor. She is very down to earth and is helpful. As long as you care about your grades, she will go that extra mile to help you achieve your academic goal.
GREAT professor. She is willing to take the time to help you achieve your academic goals. She is very down to earth. BEST CHOICE for a professor.
Pons is a different sort of professor, unconventional if you will. If there are errors she is absolutely willing to correct them, so do your work and you will be fine. PS Don't leave class early, she totally rewards those who stay by giving valid tips and tricks for larger assignments. BTW..she is way hot! Two thumbs up for the courtroom attire ;)
She keeps class interesting…so far I am loving her class and even though it is at the end of a 12 hour day for me I never mind going to it. The assignments are not hard, ASK QUESTIONS! Come to class and you will do just fine. :)
Awful teacher. It seems that she had a hard time going to school and working at the same time, and has no compassion for anyone....she actually makes it very clear that not eventhe birth of child will be accepted as an excuse...so MAKE sure you plan your birth around her schedule!
If you want an easy A then she is the one to take. Don't expect to learn very much as she is preoccupied with her law firm. Extremely easy though.
Not a difficult class if you have previous knowledge in the subject or can teach yourself the material. I didn't learn anything from her. You can tell this is her second job and she does not put a lot of effort or care into teaching the class. She is also awful at responding to her emails and is very unorganized.
Easy class but an awful teacher. You don't learn much in her class and can teach yourself more on your own then she will teach you. You can tell she doesn't care about her students and is preoccupied with her other job.
She doesn't care about teaching or her students. Easy class but you don't learn anything from her.
Her classes aren't difficult but she is not a good professor. She is awful at responding to emails and is unorganized. You learn more from just reading the book, then going to her class.
Her class is entertaining but she is extremely unorganized and overall not a good professor.
I loved Professor Pons. She has more of a story-telling teaching style which I loved. She would walk into class with some pretty crazy stories, but be warned. This leads to rabbit trails. I had a 3 hour class, but we never were kept longer than 2 hours. She's just very busy, so it was difficult to get a hold of her. Other than that, she was great!
She is very unorganized and not helpful. Easy class if you just teach yourself the material.
She is a great teacher. She is a great person that really cares about her students. Her test are not that bad. she has discussions to help pad your grade as well
Great professor! I enjoy her teaching style and take all her classes. She makes boring lectures as fun as can be by offering group activities, real-life cases, visits to jail. She is busy with her law practice, therefore she can't be available 24/7. I would rather learn from a practicing attorney than someone who's never represented a client!
Professor Pons is nothing short of amazing! You can learn a lot from this highly intelligent woman, whether it comes from a book or from real life experiences. I love the way she conducts her classes, very laid back but not a push over by any means. Do read the text book but most info comes from lectures and PowerPoints. Great professor,!
The good: Has a fun personality, gives real world examples, discusses quiz/exam topics, willing to help if you speak FACE TO FACE. The bad: Always late to class, despite what she says her law firm is her number one priority not you, unorganized to a fault, does NOT respond to emails, got an 89.45 and was not willing to help the difference for an A
I had Professor Pons for Civil Practice & Procedure Fall 2015, I loved her class. Her class was every other monday, her assignments were clear, exams are online, and everything was due online. Easy A just do the work and show up. Attendance isn't always required but she also gives extra credit!!!
This is a great professor, she is clear and to the point. The quizzes are challenging, but if you read the book you'll do fine. She can be reasoned with if you make time to go talk to her. I enjoyed the class and learned a lot, she even helped us with where to find the book.
I take every class Pons teaches. She has been practicing law for over ten years and has some interesting stories to tell. This class was very easy. Go over power points and you will do just fine. 3 quizzes, mid-term and a final. No other assignments in this class.
Professor Pons is by far, the most entertaining teacher! She gives you real case scenerios to work with, she's very animated but laid back at the same time. She makes legal studies which could potentially be very monotonous, actually come to life. She's very blunt and doesn't beat around the bush! Be prepared to laugh and learn! Love her!
Waste of time and money. Didn't learn anything in her class. Never responds to emails or text messages. Class disorganized. Will not take her again.
Dr. Pons is one of the best professors at UCF! She really cares about her students. She goes over all the material in class, so the exams aren't much of a surprise.
Took class because it is required for my major. She comes to class unprepared and doesn't even know what class she is teaching that night. Spends most of the class talking about her law firm and personal life and then rushes through the powerpoint. Questions on test dont make sense and dont relate to the powerpoint. Do not recommend as a professor.
It is obvious that her law firm is her top priority and teaching at UCF is just an extra income. Not helpful, does not teach well, talks about personal life. The questions on her tests do not make sense, and dont relate to the powerpoints. She gives the wrong grades for answers many times and you will have to be on top of her to change the grade.
Do not take. Avoid
A nice person but doesn't know how to teach. Very unclear. She is forgetful, doesn't input proper grades. Honestly just a mess... So even if she was a good teacher (which she is not), its just hard to communicate w her or even know what's going on w your grade. She gives reviews for the exams but they are vague and do not help. TOUGH exams. AVOID
Pons was MIA the whole 1st month of an online class, causing financial aid problems for students. (POA) After that it was hit or miss on the assignments, no feedback, and took her FOREVER to grade anything. Few tests with 5 really random T/F questions to base grades on. Complaining to dept. head was only a temporary fix. Waste of time and $$$
Considering Legal Research is an absolute necessity in the Legal Studies field, I would strongly advise not to take this professor as she is extremely unorganized and does not prioritize properly teaching her students. Matter of fact, she does not teach at all. Avoid avoid avoid if you do not want to be lost in Legal Writing.
Not much to add that hasn't already been said. She was very passionate about the course subject (Adoption Law) but she seemed distracted and I don't feel like learned very much. The upside was that the workload for this particular course was light so it didn't take much to complete weekly assignments.
She was awful! Worst professor Ive ever had at UCF. Im really surprised she hasnt been fired. I had her 8 years ago in undergrad and we all complained to the department head about her unpreparedness for Class
Pons class is an easy A if you take the material seriously. However, goodluck getting Pons to reply to a message or concern throughout the semester - it could take months.
Good woman, amazing lawyer, bad professor. Has great stories, but BARELY taught. Super funny but u wont learn so if u want to know about real estate law dont take her. u will need the textbook since she doesnt teach you & u have quizzes to take. Has never answered any of my emails, super hard to contact. forgets to put in grades/post the quizzes
Took Dr. Pons for immigration law and it was easy and informative. I feel I learned a lot and the text was easy and short to read. It wasn't dragged out like some text that you can barely read through it and there is a quiz every week. Would definitely take her again.
She is a very sweet and kind person, however, her course preparation leaves much to be desired. She is very honest about her self and her abilities. Quite a few exam and quiz questions were, in my opinion, poor questions because they were sometimes incorrect and and/or hard to understand. I do not feel as though I am a better legal researcher.
I took Professor Pons for Contemporary Issues: Adoption Law. The class was pretty easy (both material and navigation wise). She adds a personal touch to the lectures, which keeps it real. I enjoyed the readings and everything and the class took minimal effort to do well in. She's not easy to reach though, so you might be waiting for a while.
Not only is the layout of webcourses a complete mess of hard to navigate information, she also won't respond to questions or concerns for weeks at a time. She will create quiz questions that have very poor wording and typos, not to mention some questions will have multiple right answers. She also deducts points from assignments for unknown reasons.
This is the most disorganized web class I have been in. For example, we were assigned Case Briefs with no lesson/example on how to do them. She takes 2 weeks to grade, so by the time 2nd Case Brief was assigned, you had no prior feedback. Modules/Quizzes are incorrectly named leading to confusion. Very disorganized and does not respond. Never again
The class is disorganized but you can figure out how to get through it. The weekly case briefs are only a page long. The weekly quizzes are hard to pass if you dont read the cases including ALL of the opinions. She does not answer to emails and takes a while to grade, some of the assignments were named wrong as well.
She was impossible to communicate with. She never answered emails. I have a grade she gave me a 0 for as an incomplete despite it being turned it. I asked her several times to change it but she never answered or changed it. She is probably one of the least reliable teachers that I've had. Dont reccomend her at all.
Domestic Relations, mixed mode. Class was supposed to meet once a week turned to once every 2 weeks, get any questions answered in that time because getting ahold of her via email is impossible, never got an answer all semester. Class was easy her online tests were very difficult because of the wording. If you take her I advise face to face.
DON'T TAKE HER. She makes the content seem easy but then the test questions are worded horribly. She's late EVERY CLASS. She would go over her poorly made power points that make no sense. Class is a waste of time. She told us the final is made to be impossible and told us to study all the wrong things. Grade went from a 97 to 71 after final.
I've taken Pons 4 time now and I don't get her bad rep. Most of the quizzes and test she gives are common sense and if you actually read the material you should do fine. She's easy to talk to a little disorganized I must admit but I have never gotten below a A in any of her classes
I've taken 3 classes with Dr. Pons. Plus side is that she's a practicing attorney, in the trenches and has lots of experience and great stories to share. Bad news is that quizzes and tests are poorly written and lectures can be chaotic. Don't be fooled by how laid back class can be. You have to read the book and self-teach to pass.
She a great teacher! I have taken her for three classes so far ,I've learned lot with her, and will continue taking her in the future. she does require a lot of reading and can be unclear at times but if you ask for help she will help you understand the concept.
Professor Pons has been one of my favorite teachers at UCF.
I took her Adoption class in the Spring and she was absolutely amazing!!! Shes really sweet and her class is a breeze if you just do the weekly assignment which could either be a discussion or a quiz. I didnt even need the book because even though she said we needed it, she ended up providing the text in the modules. Totally recommend her class
I LOVE Pons. This summer will be my third class with her and then two more in the fall. She is so caring about her students and what she does. I took adoption law with her in the spring and her instructions were very clear. Take her!!
It's somewhat any easy class if you pay attention but you're pretty much on your own. She rarely ever gets back to your emails no matter how many times you try to contact her and when she finally does it takes FOREVER. She also takes FOREVER to grade assignments.
Pons is a solid choice. There are a lot of small assignments but they are easy and pretty much the same every week. She brings a lot of guest speakers for class so it makes the class pretty interesting.
HORRIBLE PROF. Never responds to emails, her assignments are pointless, 10 quizzes total which have no weight on your grade. The most important grade is midterm, final and group project. Final exam was cumulative I received a 90 and my final grade is 83.17 ! I barely passed this class bc the prof gave horrible instructions for reviews and topics.
One of the best professors I've ever taken! Makes law easy to understand and interesting. Very funny and gives anecdotes about her own cases and clients. Translates legal jargon into words anyone can understand. So human and honest. Messy when it comes to updating WebCourses and responding on time. Will use lots of logic and critical thinking.
really enjoyed this class, she was a great professor, and made the class very fun and interesting. I will say, however, that research assignments that we had to do were some time very frustrating and gets annoying especially when you are unsure on what to do. Dont even get me started on the citations but overall good professor, would take again.
Prof. Pons is a great woman and she always gives clear feedback. The quizzes and discussions were not really hard, and the material was interesting. The course load wasn't overwhelming and I felt like this class was a breeze. I would definitely take this prof. again.
She is the best professor I have ever taken in the legal studies department at UCF. She is so caring and connects with you on a personal level.
Overall a very good professor. Her material is taught well and heavily relies on the textbook. She does take a long while to respond to emails however always solves the issue / responds to the question eventually.
You need the textbook!!! Class mainly consisted of case briefs and quizzes. Long time to receive response for emails. I recommend attending the zoom she does occasionally if you have her online. I'd rather take her in person than online.
Pons is a great professor and made Intercultural Law a class that I actually learned something in. Each week is a training exercise, but they're all up for interpretation and you'll likely get full credit. Only things you have to read are in the online modules.
I took Pons online and I thought it was a very good class. She posted videos of her doing lectures, but everything was able to be found in the textbook. She is available to help if you need it. I found I actually learned a lot and she was a big part of that. Would definitely recommend.
She is pretty funny and engaging. She will give you her time and attention if you need help. The grading criteria are very clear, and the formula for the class is to read the book, do the assignment and take the quiz. It is easy to get a good grade in her class if you follow the formula.
She is one of the better professors in the legal studies department for online classes. Never had her in person. The assignments and quizzes are very straight forward and she is always willing to help if you need it. My only complaint is she is pretty slow with grading and responding to emails, but she is a very good professor.
Hands down the best Legal Studies Professor I've taken where I actually learnt something with live experience from her documentaries and videos. Even though this was an online class, the materials provided every week are so informational that you want to learn more. Her exam reviews are VERY helpful.
This class was pretty straightforward when it came to quizzes and homework, I didn't have much difficulty during this course however I would say it can be hard to reach her.
The professor has no connection to her students, rarely answers emails, and does not listen to feedback. She is an Attorney outside of the class and barely answers. Not a fan.
No communication whatsoever, it took about 12 emails to get an issue resolved and the responses I received were short and not helpful. The class itself is straightforward however, certain assignments can be difficult to understand so its best to rely on your classmates and the book because reaching her is harder than the assignment themselves.
I enjoyed her class for adoption law. The class is interesting and she doesn't give you too many unnecessary readings. Most of the class is quizzes on a couple short readings every week with the occasional discussion. The final exam is based on the readings for the class and she has a meeting for the midterm and final to review.
Dr. Pons had another professor co teach this course with her. All the assignments were traditional Dr. Pons assignments. The other prof was the primary. Overall good class if you read and do your assignments you're fine. Quizzes sometimes had repeated questions. She's a nice professor, but isn't reachable through email, but through office hours yes
She has a good life experience. The online exam lecture was very helpful. I will taker her classes again.
THIS CLASS WAS AMAZING. Prof Pons is so passionate about Immigration law. There were some assignment that had you watch her documentary on the trips to the border she's taken with her students and it is truly amazing and inspirational. I took this class in Summer A and it is super doable not too many assignments. Great class, amazing prof!
Special Topics changes every semester which topic. Had her for Funeral/Cremation Law. Very interesting type of law. One assignment a week. "Fieldtrips" went to a cemetery for extra credit very cool. Has a required textbook, bought it and never used it. Would take her again.
Professor Pons is engaging and makes legal concepts easy to grasp. Expect a clear grading formula - read the textbook, do assignments, and take quizzes. Unstuck AI can be a helpful study tool alongside other resources.
Mrs. Pons cares, but she seems overwhelmed with commitments outside of class. I waited weeks for a response to my incorrect questions, despite having answered them correctly. I only received a reply after mentioning that I'd escalate the issue to the Dean, and the problem wasn't resolved until the final day grades were due.
I took this course as a 6 week summer B class. The canvas page was not set up until week 4 of our 6 week course...what that means is I spent the last week taking 8 quizzes, and the midterm and final were a week apart. The class would have been quite easy if I was not asked to complete it in two weeks. I'm sure she's great, but this was insane.
I took her Immigration Law class online and she did not answer a single one of my emails. I believe I sent three or so throughout the class and I never got a response. Multiple quiz questions were wrong and she never replied to any messages regarding this. I am sure she's busy but very disappointing.
In Her Professionalism Course for Fall 2025, I understand that she is the second chair of the department or something like that, but not grading assignments from a month and a half ago is unacceptable no matter her commitments. Impossible to reach out to and lectures are pointless. Would not recommend
Good luck reaching her. She's cool, but very scattered. She takes on a lot, so students aren't really a priority. I had an assignment that needed her approval, reached out multiple times, and got no response. I missed the deadline because of it, and she later claimed she never got emails even though 30+ students reached out.
This is my third course with Mrs. Pons. She is genuinely kind and cares about her students, but she has too many outside commitments. Our class had multiple cancellations, and communication was very difficult. We paid a lot and ultimately received very little instruction. Considering this is a Professionalism class, she was very unprofessional.
