shes a nice person, and a good teacher...but alotta papers in higher classes.
one of the most boring prof's i've had, loses train of thought and has poor assignments, i'd suggest her teaching anything but intro to art
The class is boring as hell, and she got on my nerves, but in intro to art, it wasn't all that hard, if you put a little effort into studying for tests and writing papers. I hope she gets better, the longer she is at IUP.
I have nothing but good things to say about this beautiful soul.Who could forget the "Pompei" story or reference to caveman painting,"Birdman with..."Her glasses were half off her face and she played with her hair a lot. "Well fol
Easiest class I ever took, mostly because she didn't know what the hell she was doing most of the time. She plays with that hair too much, and "absolutely" and "exactly" are just too much to handle in one class. AHHHH!
she is a really nice teacher... but she does play with her hair, and always seems out of breath. the class is interesting and the tests are easy if you use common sense.

how many ways is there to say boring? i only liked goin to this class because we had comfy chairs...she talked in the same voice for an hour and a half making jokes about art that we didnt even understand. and the playing with hair thing very true!!!
Ok, so this class is incredibly boring, but compared to any other Art History class at any other university.. cake. So she plays with her hair alot, but if you miss a test or assignment, she'll give you a makeup and she'll curve the tests 49 is an F!
SHe is horrible!!! Sooooo boring.. plays with her greasy hair!! I just absolutely hated the class, if you're not an art major i don't recommend it!!!
hey kids **** what ya heard, this **** is the ****, i learn in this woman's class and its easy
Great!
Good teacher. If you're not into art history don't take. Although it is interesting and the hair playing is funny, she's very understanding and knows her stuff.
Boring but eay class...She was annoying always playing with her greasey hair and I hated the way that she said "Class". Take her if you wanna be bored to death but get a good grade
Very clear in lecture and exams. Exams are fair and she reviews everything before the tests. Very possible to get an A or B if you take notes and do some reading. I recommend this professor.
Irene is crazy! This course is so much fun, and I love this woman. Irene and I have had many conversations while outside smoking before class! I highly reccommend this course
The class is cake. She's interesting and knows her stuff. Nicotine and caffeine addict. Needs some shampoo. Quirky, but very nice lady. Don't buy the book. 85-100 is an A
Was a great class. I loved her. She knows what she is talking about and it is interesting. She gives oprotunities for extra credit with each test. 85% or above is an A! It's great!
This class was so easy. Class is not that exciting but it's an easy A. Take this class! Kabala is really nice!
Biggest challenge in this class is not falling asleep in a dark auditorium. Nothing hard about this class. Easy A to get a requirement out of the way.
Boring but easy. Can be interesting sometimes but it was still a challenge to stay awake. However, she is a very nice and understanding person that is easy to get along with. Easy A.
Class can be really interesting. She knows alot about what shes teaching and tests as well as grading is more than fair. I feel like I really learned something from her.
easy biggest blow off class ever
Dr. Kabala was tough on us with our tests, she expected you to know material from class discussion and from the book. She was very encouraging and knew her stuff! Her quirkiness kept the class interesting and fun.Loved the upper level classes.
One of the easiest classes ever! Shes crazy but a great teacher. I got an A and did nothing. Take her!!!!
She rules. Her helper is a ****, but Kabala will be more than willing to help you.
Such an easy class, she puts study guides on the web so going to class is pretty much optional. The tests are cake and shes crazy! Definitely take this class. Only downfall is it can get boring sometimes.
GREAT PROF. TO TAKE FOR ART HISTORY! Everything she does is on WebCT and there is no attendence policy. DEFINITELY take this prof. she's craaaazy!
Kabala is very respectful to students , especially concerning class assignments. There are very few. She likes class participation; the class is more interesting if you contribute.
She is awesome! She makes the information easy to understand and wants you to pass. She has review days where she tells you everything on the test. These were very helpful! She also lets you out early almost every class. I LOVED HER!
She lets you out early, the work is easy because she reviews it, and there isn't much reading. It is a great class and she is a great professor. Not only that, the material is very interesting to study.
You can tell she is passionate about what she teaches, shes a ncie lady and a good professor. Definately take her.
She is a very intelligent person, which only helps to broaden my knowledge of Ancient to Medieval art work. I thoroughly enjoyed the class, and I recommend Dr. Kabala to anyone thinking about taking this class.
Dr. Kabala is very enthusiastic, and enjoys it when you participate. She really loves art, and will make you love it as well. There's no attendance policy, and the exams are easy, there are study guides for everything. Take her, it's a great class.
I think this woman is just amazing! She's so passionate and intelligent and I just stare at her in awe of the wealth of knowledge she wants to share with all of us. She just really intrigues me, she's incredible. She speaks Polish fluently, is an artistic genius, is deep and sincere. Take her class!
Great prof. She's so interesting. I mean sitting in the AUD is a little hard sometimes without lights on, but its a great class, and easy.
Dr. Kabala has got to be one of my absolute favorite professors at IUP. She's made me want to minor in art history just so that I can have more classes with her. She's extremely interesting, intelligent, and rather laid back about school policies (grading scale, attendance, etc.)
She is QUIRKY. There is no other word to describe this woman. I knew nothing about art going in, but you really dont need to. You def. have to study for tests but there are only 3 + one essay on a pc of artwork from the Gallery. Fairly easy for Arts credit.

Being an art major, I had to take this class. But I enjoyed every minute of it. She's definately an odd one, but great prof. Irene's definately worth taking. You don't need to know a thing going in there, because you learn so much when you leave.
Although there is alot of writing, she is very understanding and willing to help over anything. She is so intelligent, and wants the best from you. Missing class is not a big deal, she doesn't notice half the time. She makes tests easy enough if you go to the review
Kabala is a great prof. I learned a lot from her class, and I hope I can get into another one of her classes. Easy-going, funny, very helpful when it comes to late work and making up tests. Take her if you can.
Probably the most caring professor I have every had. Her classes can be very boring but if you dont get an A in her class jump off a bridge. Thats how easy it is!!!
she cares a lot about what shes teaching and does a good job of getting the point across. if you go to the review you'll have no problem on the tests.
I slept every class and still got a B easy prof. But very boring.
Good Professor, is very fair and gives many opertunities to up your grade. Have to study for the tests but they are definitly do-able. Lectures can be boring at times but you get out early almost every day.
Awesome professor. She's not really easy, but there are alot of oppurtunities to get a good grade in the class. She's insane, but fun. She knows what she's talking about and will tell you every little detail and get a laugh out of almost anything. She's definately a professor worth taking. The best art history professor I've ever had.
sooo easy! shes awesome n funny. kinda boring at times but easy A. no attendance and she always lets you out early. cancels class a lot n never teaches the whole time (she get "tired") great class. pretty interesting n dont even have to go. she will even tell u dont have to buy the text book!!
Very good teacher. She just goes over notes the whole time and sometimes you watch a movie. Gives bonus points when like 5 people show up for class and doesnt normally take attendance. Very easy grader and loves the subject. I would def take her again...theres extra credit too and you dont need a book!
Such a great lady. Do not have to attend class if you dont want to, she is very sweet, understanding, caring and nice... what more can you ask for. Easy class
Very nice professor. She acts a little different than the norm but what art professor isn't? She changes the grading scale to ~85+=A... and offers a lot of extra credit. Study and do the extra credit you'll have no problem getting an A in the course, tests are exactly as taught in class. No mandatory book, makes interesting for a mandatory class
i thought she was on drugs like, every day. she talked about the most random stuff and she was real goofy. very nice lady tho. i skipped about a quarter of the classes and still got a B. easy class, usually lets out early, cancels a few times, you can get the lectures on webCT and no homework!! easy credit, go for it!
yeah she lets you out early and does cancel but its sooo boring and she gives bonus but u write 5 pages for 0-5 points..and her 5 pt assignments are stupidly hard
i love her. yeah, shes quirky and plays with her hair a lot, but she was a fun teacher. i thought it was interesting material and shes very knowledgeable. she tells silly art jokes and the material is SO easy. attendance not necessary. i highly recommend her.
i took kabala for ancient to medevil and i found it really hard. i actually failed a test and she offered to drop it if i improved. i overall enjoyed her class.
Wonderful woman, very passionate about art, as well she is very knowledgeable. Lets class out early often, gives bonus. A+
Dr. Kabala is fantastic. How can a professor be so magical. I went to class maybe 10 times total all semester and still got an A. She's so funny.
This class is a breeze as long as you go to class and take notes. there is never homework and the exams are easy.
Very simple class, never any homework and she gives you study guides on webct. A few in class writing assignments that are very easy. Get out of class early every day so far. Test are pretty easy and i would recomend her even if you have no interest in art history.
Irene is cool. Has a great love for Art and is always excited about what she talks about. Halfway through the class i changed my major to art history. Take her if you can you wont regret it. NO TEXT BOOK!!! Uses webct. Take an interest in what she talks about and the class with be a breeze.
Dr. Kabala is great. Her class is extremely laid back, and she doesn't care about attendance. Has a few in-class writing assignments, and tests are multiple choice. Offers extra credit throughout the course, and information presented is very interesting and fun. I definitely recommend taking her.
i really enjoyed this class. its really laid back, tests are easy attendance is not mandatory. i would definitely recommend taking her.
Easy class. She makes everything easy with her tests and her assignments. She isn't too harsh when grading either. I would recommend her to anyone that can stand an annoying Canadian accent
She is very entertaining throughout the whole class and half the time she doesn't want to be there so she lets you leave early. She is very clear about what she says and is more than willing to answer your questions. Once in a while she gets side tracked... but that is for the best!
The class was really interesting, and she really knows what she is talking about. She's very Canadian, and you can tell the moment she opens her mouth, but it's funny. The class was really easy as long as you take notes in class. She's pretty laid-back, but very opinionated at the same time.
awesome teacher, very cool and teaches very well and tests are easy
Kabala is a great teacher that really knows her stuff. Her tests can be a little challenging, but not too difficult. I would recommend her.
It was a pretty easy class. She has random attendance checks so i would go to class even though the notes are posted online. Her in class review are helpful!
she is really nice! hilariously entertaining but she can be kinda tough on her exams. i would most definitely take her again never read the book just took notes. tells insanely weird stories about rome and visiting art. shes always having a good time in class unless its too hot...haha then she will let you leave. oh yeah VERY knowledgable
She's kind of out there, but the class is easy. :)
Very funny, kept all of her lectures fun and interesting. Easy tests and gives tons of extra credit opportunities.
I love Irene, Her class is rather difficult but if you go to class and take notes it is a breeze. She can be very vulgar at times, and cracks me up! She is really willing to help and work with you.. Shes a great person and an amazing professor, you really do learn alot from her and she knows what shes talking about. Take Irenes class.
I absolutely loved her! She is hilarious and makes class interesting. She has a lot of jokes and really funny stories. She's definitely strange and different, but that can be expected of us artsies. Her powerpoints are interesting. The tests can be kind of hard but if you print the powerpoints before class & take notes, & STUDY, you should be fine
Irene knows her stuff and is extremely funny! She requires no textbook teaches more of the fun, crazy artworks vs. ones out of a textbook. Tests are somewhat difficult and require moderate study, but she gives out a study guide before and extra credit after every test. She is Canadian and likes to bash U.S. politics and refer to "adult" ideas.
Attendance isnt mandatory but i highly suggest it, she tests on what she says in lecture. Exams are VERY hard. i worked my ass off and recieved an A on every test. The final paper killed me, its 10 pages and took my grade down to a B. You learn alot from her and its well worth it. Shes canadian, vulger, and twirls her haird constantly. LOVE HER.
Irene is a fantastic professor. She will teach all of her students how to write well. Her writing intensive courses are tough, but well worth the effort. She also has a dark sense of humor that makes the class well worth attending. Tests are rough, make sure to study.
Irene is an amazing professor and anyone who believes that she isnt is just bitter because they're lazy and therefore did poorly in her class. Her 400 level Art History courses are writing intensive, we had 2 5 pt. quizzes, a 10pt. position paper, and multiple small assignments leading up to your final research paper. take your paper SERIOUSLY!!!
Will teach you how to write. Very useful course.
LOVED IRENE! Great teacher! Good class and I am now a art history miner thanks to her class! You should take her class if you can.
Dr. Kabala is Canadian and she is a bit funny. She twirls her hair constantly. I don't like her class because of the subject but I need a Fine Arts credit.
She is VERY enthusiastic about the subject, and will tell many stories. Attendance isn't mandatory, but she does take attendance from time to time, and her lectures definitely help with exams. All the ppts are online as well as study guides. The final paper was a bit challenging, but I would def take a class from her again.
Not an easy class, and extremely boring unless you are an art major. I took the class for a liberal elective and hated it. All power points and the tests are horrible even if you study. I asked her for help and she told me I didn't know how to study, I would suggest not taking this class.
If you're not really interested in art or culture, don't take the class. It's an elective, after all. If you are really interested, you will learn a lot.
Irene is awesome! She has so much passion and knowledge for teaching and teaches with so much enthusiasm. I love her side-stories to go along with her lessons...they keep me awake during class. You can learn so much from her if you take advantage of her vast knowledge. One of my favorite teachers I've had at IUP.
was soooo confused.
she is very messy, forgets stuff and kinda crazy but funny. 5 tests drops the lowest, if u miss one u have to write an 8 pg paper describing painting. would not take again
Take this professor when ever you get the chance, you will learn a lot and she's got some great stories. Just don't miss any tests because she rarely gives breaks to tardies
Professor Kabala was one of my personal favorite professors. Im a nursing major and I still use the stuff I learned from her ARHI101 more than any other class. As people have said, she is out there. But take her class and you will see that her passion and experience cant be compared. Her "free spirit" is what makes her an amazing professor.
Irene is definitely passionate for art. Her class is not easy but not hard. I study the night before and get B's on her exams. Her review days help a lot. She gives extra credit for every exam. Does about 3 random attendance checks. Just pay attention in class and you'll do fine. She has made me interested in art and I thank her.
She is very passionate about art, she is a little weird, but funny! If you dont attend the review days studying will be tough, tests are hard if you do not study.
I took this class and attended every single class because I needed a fine arts credit for Liberal Studies. Kabala is so confusing and just rambles on a lot. Also, coming from someone who was always in class, her tests hardly have anything to do with what she talks about and she treats everyone as if we are top level art interpreters yet its a 101
Irene Kabala at first seems to be a quirky, happy soul. She cancelled almost ever class for the first third of the semester. You had to walk to the door to find this out. This caused many students to stop coming and be annoyed by her. She caught on and made rude remarks to and at her students. Her test answer are all biased rather than fact based.
She is a funny woman, and is not a boring and lame professor. There are a couple tests and you have to do journals, which are not very hard. She goes over everything you need to know typically the class before the test which is really helpful! Plus theres no homework
Her class is okay, if you do the minimum then you will get an okay grade.
Dr. Kabala genuinely cares about her students. Her class isn't hard at all. She goes over everything you need to know in class. She did cancel a lot of classes, but it was only because her dad was very sick. Overall, she is a great person and a great professor.
Irene is an amazing person. If you just listen to her during lecture, you will pass. Everything on the test is talked about in class and there is no extra stuff that you have to learn. There is a weekly journal, but she doesn't check till end of semester. She missed class a fair amount but had good reasoning. This class is not boring.
At the beginning of the semester I thought she was a little out there but as I got used to her I now love her. She's a little crazy and is hilarious in class but she helps as much as she can. She is super caring about students and she cancels class every once in a while. Be warned she hates cellphones, D2L and emails.
Kabala is a hilarious professor. Your entire grade consists of exams, vocab quizzes, and diagram quizzes. They're all pretty easy, just make sure you know what the art actually looks like as opposed to just its name or creator. She also grades on a ridiculous curve, where low B's are A's, low C's are B's, and so on. Occasional attendance is bonus.
If you have the chance to take her class, TAKE IT. Shes a great professor and shes hilarious. She has great stories and the class is all around pretty fun if you like Ancient and Medieval art/history. Exams and quizzes are easy if you pay attention. :)
Very interesting professor. Told great stories related to the lectures. Class covers from cave paintings up to more modern artists, so if you like art history at all its worth your time. I really enjoyed her taste in art, and what she chose to cover. If you show up to class and do your best to understand the material you should be fine.
Irene's class was lecture heavy. She had us edit her book throughout the entire semester. I can't complain too much because that was the ONLY work we had to do. We did not have tests or a final, but I found that her classes did not match up with the work we had to do in the book. Therefore, most of my classmates did not attend.
Dr. Kabala is one of the best professors Ive ever had. But you have to pay attention and take notes and show up. If you play around on your phone in class or skip you will probably fail miserably. The tests get progressively more difficult and you must study to pass. Super interesting, brilliant lectures. Youll learn a lot if you put in the effort.
Not a bad professor, only a couple tests then you just have to write papers on her textbook. One thing I did not like is that she did not post any grades online. I have no idea what my grade is right now. The only way to know your grade is if she brings the papers into class. She also said not to email her to find out your grade.
I love art history, but absolutely suffered in her class. She is funny, but is such a tough grader that I didn't want to try anymore. Her lectures tend to be insanely unorganized, and with no other links to the material you have to piece it together on your own. Youtube videos were my best friend.
The class itself was great and Professor Kabala prepares students for tests really well. She randomly assigns partners for the textbook assignment which is due every two weeks. Going to class definitely helps because she gives extra credit sometimes and a lot of information isn't included on the D2L slides.
Irene only grades your quizzes and exams. Quizzes are very easy if you study but, exams ARE V DIFFICULT. If you have trouble paying attention you will struggle in this class. She is a tough teacher but she does have a funny sense of humor (a little strange). If you are into Art history and pay attention you will do fine.
Prof requires that you buy the text book SHE wrote, which is god awful
Art History 101 students be prepared to buy a $100 textbook right off the bat and write a chapter summary every week. That's the toughest part of the course though, Kabala herself is very lenient about late work and as long as you show up and put forth a little effort you should be fine.
There is an insane amount of work given in this class. First of all, she makes you buy a book that SHE WROTE for almost $100. Second of all, she gets pissed when you don't answer in class. Lastly, she's OBSESSED with herself. All she ever does is talk about herself and things she's done and places she's went and blah blah blah. Absolutely HATED.
Awful DON'T take with her ever, she is a very tough grader and the tests are so difficult. treated us like kids, NOT answering emails quickly, and skip emails if she did not like your concern. after we turned online, she changed the entire syllabus. not clear with discussion deadlines, and she doesn't update you with your grades at D2L.
I took Irenes summer art history course. During these 3 weeks I had rough time. The first I failed my first exam. second week my family and I got in a huge fight and I was disowned, third I wasnt allowed to leave work for an exam. Ive never had a professor be so empathetic and kind. She wanted to help me succeed.
The powerpoints are a hot mess, difficult to read, & full of typos & it's impossible to pick out what's going to be on the exams. Her study guides & practice tests are useless. She asks vague questions that have multiple correct answers, but only HER answer is correct. Even when I thought I was right, I was wrong. Also, it's very Western-centric.
She accessible out side of class but doesnt explain anything clearly. Her lecture contains a 99 slide pp you read and thats it. Her test are multiple choice but the most specific answer is the correct one, meaning multiple correct answers but only one she wants. Also puts blame on you that is actually her being behind. Overall, never again.
A terrible professor. She is one of the most disorganized people I have ever met. Her class was full of pointless assignments and left me to learn absolutely nothing. Her tests are based on her own opinions and were confusing because multiple answers fit. She expects you to learn by a poorly put together powerpoint that she vaguely goes over.
Ive had Irene for three semesters in a row and each class was a mess. She grades way too hard for art history courses and is always all over the place. She expects us to do study guides for our tests for points but her notes never match up with them. She them grades them poorly, however, half of the information is never in the slides.
I took this class over the winter. She expects us to go over 80-99 slides in PowerPoint with information that wont even be on the test. Even the study guides didnt line up with the tests. Everyone failed the first test and we all had to retake it. So disorganized. Test answers are way too specific and had multiple correct answers.
Dr. Kabala is a pleasant person herself, but her exams are impossible. you have 3-5 minutes PER question to write a paragraph answering the question on the exam. We had to write a paper on a painting with absolutely zero context, no artist, not the year it was completed and there is no trace of it online anywhere. Do NOT recommend.
I took her class online over winter break. As long as you use the study guides, the exams are relatively easy. Great professor who cares about her students. 10/10
After this class I realized how bad of a professor she is. She grades based on the answers she wants, not the correct one. This class is a terrible time and causes so much stress. You learn nothing other than dates and names. Nothing meaningful for an art major in these classes. She gets crazier every year. Waste of money and time!!!!
She is an outstanding professor super funny & caring. Her classes are not easy but you will learn, not just art but how to write, research & much more. If you are willing to work. I do recommend recording lectures, especially for review day, gives you everything you need to pass the test. You won't need a book if you go to class. Lady is a smart MF
Horrible grader, power points are bad, tests are opened ended and make no sense, expects you to write papers like you already have a masters degree
Irene can come across very strong, but is generally a good, kind teacher. You have to put in the work. People who don't come to every class or cram for tests will find it difficult to pass. Every lecture is very informative but is also a massive information overload, so take good notes and study hard. Exams are written, with 5mins per question.
Irene goes out of her way to make students suffer. Her exams are nearly impossible. She expects you to remember way too much and doesn't allow you to use your notes. I recommend avoiding her classes at all costs.
She's an amazing professor, Irene is the best teacher to have when it comes to Art History she actually keeps me interested in her lectures.
A pretty good lecture. Be prepared to take lots of notes.
Do not take her if you have the chance. If you are someone who knows nothing about history you will fail. The tests are nothing like her "study guides". The only grades are quizzes and test so if you fail anything it's almost certain you won't pass. DO NOT TAKE HER. She lectures the whole time and has powerpoint of 150 pages.
If any of the reviews are good, it is because Dr. Kabala asked some students to leave her good reviews on here. She is an awful teacher, does not submit any grades into D2L, and her exams are impossible. No matter how hard you study she will find things to dock points on. Not sure how she still has a job, half of the class is retaking the course.
Irene is so unorganized, she spent the entire semester changing due dates and taking forever to grade assignments and exams. She is very knowledgeable about ARHI but expects each of her students to be at the level she is. Her exams are next to impossible, tests are timed and sporadic. Do not take this class.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR
I am a junior with a 4.0 (was, more like). I think I failed this course. So unorganized. Expects you to be at a masters level. No consistent grading. You cannot win in this class. I have no idea how this woman still has a job. Do not take if you don't have to. The good reviews on here because she asked students to write them.
I will not lie, you will be taking lots of notes. The tests are completely written and very difficult. If you simply pay attention, RECORD HER LECTURES, write down, and memorize everything she says in her test review... YOU. WILL. PASS. I got a 100% in this course. Just memorize, pay attention, and put in the work geez. Irene is so passionate.
She was ok for the most part, but very tough grader and lots of assignments. Chapter summaries pile and pile and pile so keep up or you will get so far behind so easily.
I am retaking the same class at another school. The online materials barely had half the information she goes over in class. She's fast and skips through important slides. She doesn't grade on time. She left our quizzes outside in a pile, so people saw everyone's grades. I didn't see a single B or A when looking for mine. Do not take her class.
At first, I thought she was very unprofessional and I was going to drop the class but now she's one of my favorite professors. There's way more info in the in-class powerpoints than online and she's a hard grader. She may talk about her cats and how she hates modern technology but all you have to do to pass is take LOTS of notes + go to class.
literally changed attendance policy in the middle of the semester. super boring lectures.
While walking to her class I never paid attention to where I was wal
0/10. She changed the attendance policy mid semester, her lectures are extremely long and she expects everyone to be experts on art. Exams are very unfair as she only gives 30 seconds per question and she adds too much information into the slides and the tests so it's very hard to remember. Wouldn't recommend unless you have photographic memory.
Probably in the top 3 worst professors I've ever had. She runs her class by the most pseudo intellectual system where she thinks that she can improve people's memory by making us cram useless facts into our brain. And believe me, you will need A LOT of useless facts. She essentially waters down the art and history, it's a complete waste of a class.
Professor Kabala's ARHI205 is a real challenge, but Unstuckstudy can be a lifesaver. Expect lots of note-taking and memorization, but the lectures are engaging if you stay focused. With hard work and the right study tools, you can succeed in this course.
Good person, bad professor. You really can't win on the exams unless you learn what her opinions are. Even if you remember the dates and rough information for all the content, if you over explain and one thing is wrong points go down. If you explain but its not enough, points go down. Exams are impossible, but the lectures can be fun.
The WORST ever! Would never recommend her to anyone! Seems like she's losing it mentally! Constantly talks about her personal problems to her students. She could never get her days straight / messed up the schedule multiple times. Terrible lecturer/terrible grader because only her opinion matters when it comes to test taking/grading. Could go on…
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. She never once posted any grades online. Cancelled so many classes. The tests are terrible and so informal. I hope she loses her job, I've never seen a worse or more careless professor. Be prepared to fail because you will almost have no chance no matter how hard you study.
If you are struggling, just talk to her. She's very understanding and will try to help you.
Honestly the worst experience i have had so far at iup. I don't know how this women still has her job. She talks about how she is mentally messed up and you can very much tell. She doesn't care at all about her students success. All of the exams are opinionated question that no one would would know so it is impossible to get a good grade. awful.
Irene is a passionate professor. Her lectures can get confusing. Her slides are all over the place, sometimes the slides are not in chronological order. Ask her to clarify and please take notes on how things look/general patterns to look for. Easy exams if you pay attention. Great person though, not so great lectures.
I would not take Dr. Kabala, if you could avoid it. You basically only get graded on exams, and they are extremely complicated. She also does not use D2L, so you have no way of knowing what you got on the exams, or what your grade is in the class. This class is much harder than a 100 level, liberal studies art class should be.
There is a final research paper in this class, and you must describe a piece of art for her art collection, and pull sources from thin air to back up your reasoning, hardest thing I've ever done. Description is 2 pages, bibliogprahy, 8+ sources, and the analysis is 4 pages. She is incredibly unclear, disorganized, and rushed. Will not read emails.
Irene is a very kind and funny professor. Although she is a little strange and goes on weird tangents, she is very kind. She is a tough grader, but she really just wants to see her students suceed and learn the material. Study hard, ask questions, and talk to her after class. Irene really does lover her students.
She is a very kind and passionate professor. Your grade will be based only on exams, but go to class to gain her insight on the material.
