One of THE worst professors i've ever had in my life. She grades super hard and gives you no credit for partially correct answers. She also has a strong accent that makes her teaching hard to understand. IF YOU CAN SWITCH PROFESSORS DO IT

She doesn't call on people randomly in class or ask for class participation. She is a VERY tough grader and is really strict in class most of the time. She doesn't teach well, she just goes through example after example very quickly without explaining concepts. She is VERY unaccommodating, and quite frankly not a very nice lady. DO NOT TAKE!

Irina's from Russia, so she has a tough accent that made it extremely difficult to understand the little explaining she did. Rarely gave us enough time to take quizzes and even witnessed her give a handful of students F's on test for not turning it in on time. Irina constantly gets problems wrong in class. Worst experience I've had at UWL, NO!!

Very strict, unapproachable, negative, and extremely hard to understand. I would highly recommend someone else. She grades test/quizzes very harshly and takes points off for the smallest mistakes. Went into office hours and all she did was get very angry and make me feel stupid. Other than that, she is great.

She is very disrespectful towards students, she laughs at them when they get answers wrong or are confused how to do a practice problem. She is a very tough grader, even if you cross out something on a test she will still grade it and mark the problem wrong. There are 3 group projects and she teaches out of a notebook she creates.

Lecturing: She has a thick Russian/Slavic accent but mostly understandable. Grading: The only grades she gives are through tests, quizzes, and SPSS It's very important to note that she is very very picky when it comes to grading. You can get the correct answer but if you don't show your work exactly like it's shown in class it's wrong.

She is the most terrible Prof that I have met. Never ever take her class again.

Her accent is difficult to understand. Her quizzes make up the majority of your grade and she drops the worst one, but they're 25 points each and every single week and there are only 3 tests. She is picky about what she accepts as right. It's difficult to participate because she laughs at students when they are wrong. I would not take her again.

Very tough to understand because of this it left me without a clear idea of what was to be on the quizzes and it makes it tough to even know what to study for because you dont actually understand what she says as much as it is you just trying to copy down example problems from an extra book you have to purchase for this class

Id wake up each morning wanting to get hit by a car rather than to go to her class. Told me I was Wrong on numerous occasions even though I was Correct and she wrote the same answer on the board, refused to help me with a question but yet required me to go out of my time to go to her office just to answer the question I had, and is just rude.

I am not going to be dramatic but I did better in AP Calculus than I am doing in this class. Irene does not explain any material, she just starts doing the problems from the workbook on the board. 70% of the time you will have to teach yourself by watching videos. There is no homework, because you wouldn't know how to do it anyways.

AWFUL!!!! Never take her. She bullies her students and tells them that she does not want to help them with their calculations. Hard to understand. Descriptive answers on quizzes have to be written exactly how she wants it or its wrong. She gets happy when she sees a student struggling. Worst teacher Ive ever had. Not nice. Horrible

My experience with Irina was just awful. I had to retake this class, mostly because I'm bad at math, and the professor I had after her was leaps and bounds more helpful even though he was online. She let me sit in class confused even though she knew the answer to my question. She teaches the most difficult and involved ways so tutoring doesn't help

Toughest grader I have ever had. No partial credit so you better get everything exactly correct. Super boring personality and lectures. She just goes over example after example on the board without providing any explanation along with it. Also, she is not very approachable and has limited office hours.

If you have any trouble understanding a thick Russian accent, don't take her. She goes out of her way to make students feel bad when they don't know the answer to a question. Very unclear with dates, does not clarify. Do not take her if you have the chance.

Extremely and unnecessarily picky for a basic stats class. She marks off points if you do not word something exactly how she likes. She gets mad at the class if they don't understand a concept, and instead of trying to explain, tells you it is easy and you are dumb and lazy and says how you should be getting an A on every assigment and test.

Shes a rude teacher and a very harsh grader. She makes students feel stupid when they ask questions and is hard to understand. Her directions arent clear and she requires specific answers and doesnt offer partial credit. Would not recommend taking her!

VERY unapproachable. Picky grader, everything must be her way or its wrong. Calls students illiterate and that they are getting questions wrong on purpose. Made one girl cry in front of the whole class. Never shows appreciation for her students or even that she truly wants to be there. Avoid at all costs.

Worst grader I've ever had. Literally take ANYONE before her. Stats isn't hard but she makes it so difficult when you'll have the correct answer, but will give you 2/6 points and just writes "unclear work". Very unapproachable as well.

If you've never taken stats you will struggle. Half of the time she would write the wrong answer on the board and makes her students feel incompetent. Every class is just her writing examples on the boards with no explanation. There is no homework and she said she does not understand the textbook so the first time you practice is on the quiz.

She is possibly one of the worst teachers I've ever had. The only thing keeping me afloat in her class is my previous knowledge from my highschool stats class. She marks correct answers wrong if I show too much work or not the work she would like to see! Avoid at all costs unless you want unnecessary stress in a class that should not be difficult.

Professor Chervney is one of, if not the worst professor I have had at UWL. She has a very thick accent and does not explain the material well. If students ask questions in class she is rude and demeaning. I ended up dropping her course because her grading is so difficult and she is NOT appoarchable. Take literally anyone else.

SHe was mean, hard to understand (and not just because she has the THICKEST Russian accent i've ever heard), and she does NOT care if you pass or not. She once looked me in the eye and said,"You eally have no idea whats going on do you?" in the middle of a quiz, loudly, while I was trying to ask her a question.

I took AP stats in high school so I have good understanding of what she is teaching and if I didnt have that background I wouldnt know whats going on. On quizzes, if its not exactly how she wants you to write it its wrong. She doesnt give partial credit its multiple points off for little mistakes. Take someone else if you have the choice.

This teacher is an extremely tough grader (docking a whole point for putting just 12 instead of x12), and gets mad, or even laughs, when students ask questions. She spends class just doing examples on the board with no explanation, and your first practice of problems is on the quizzes. I leave this class everyday with a knot in my stomach.

Honestly the worst math teacher Ive ever had. I know stats is hard and most people dont do great, but Ive never failed anything in my life and I ended up dropping the class because there was no chance for me to pass. I went to her office hours and she was less than willing to help. If you speak up in her class, youll leave class feeling stupid.

Thick accent, impossible to understand which is funny considering stats is such a wording heavy class. Don't do it. Run.

Just DO NOT TAKE HER. In my section of stats we set a record for the amount of people who dropped the corse bc she is an awful teacher who doesn't care how you do and is very mean. She will make you feel really dumb if you don't know the answer to her questions in class and she is just not a good professor, take ANYONE else.

If you're even the slightest bit confused by algebra, do NOT take her. She expects you to remember everything from previous algebra courses (you know, the ones we took in high school) and if you don't remember much she will literally laugh at you and tell you to figure it out on your own. She only grades tests and a little bit of homework.

If you struggle with math at all, I wouldn't suggest taking her. Her heavy accent makes it very hard to understand, and she doesn't lecture, she just does examples and expects you to know everything going on. She also said our grade is solely based on tests and pop quizzes. Would never recommend, but if you're very good at math, go for it? I guess?

This class literally made me feel dead inside. I have never felt so dumb in a math class in my life. Her accent is impossible to understand especially with a mask on. She doesn't teach, she just goes in front of the class and writes problems on the board at max speed so u literally have no idea what is going on.

My college algebra class with her says its "hybrid" but that's just not true. I got quarantined during her class and sent her an email about it and she asked to see my covid test results (pretty sure she can't ask for my med records) and basically to figure it out on my own and wouldn't let me take my quiz online, I had to make it up a week later.

Teach yourself kinda class, then be ready for the hardest test possible on the material. Every class she does lectures but has a heavy accent and works at speeds where it's not possible to comprehend. Your best bet is to put your pencil down and just enjoy the show. I would recommend changing professors.

Ive never felt so dumb in a math class in my life. I tried asking for help and when I did I basically got told how I am dumb for not knowing. Her tests are very hard. Would not recommend unless you want your mental health to deteriorate.

Literally the worst professor I have ever had. She does not care about her students at all and if you reach out for help she will make you feel stupid for even asking. The homework assigned doesn't help with the tests at all. Absolutely would not recommend unless you want to fail.

This professor made us feel extremely stupid. A peer raised her hand to say "I don't understand this part" and the prof laughed and said "What is there to not understand? This is simple math." She is intimidating which isn't the end, but the in-person class was NOT a comfortable place to ask questions. Don't take if you need guidance in math.

Asked my class how we learned something in high school, once we told her she got mad because it wasn't how she wanted us to do it. She refused to tell us how she wanted us to do it and made the whole class stay late until we guessed how she wanted us to do it. She just writes the problem w/o explaining how to do it. 10/10 would rec someone else.

She would say awful things to her students. She would get mad and yell when we wouldnt understand a topic that she is teaching us for the first time. When you ask her a question she just says its not my job to figure it out.

Im usually pretty good at math but this class was by far the most difficult class Ive ever taken. She doesnt explain things well at all, and when you dont understand things or ask her questions she yells at you and the class. Paying attention in class wont help you because she doesnt explain well. 10/10 recommend someone else.

At the start she was very strict with her rules., even kicking a person out the second day. She is hard to understand due to her accent, but I was able to catch on to what she said. The only graded homework is webwork which sometimes uses problem formats that weren't used during lecture. tutors are a lifesaver due to 1 to 2 attempts on homework.

This professor is a good lecturer but gives feedback in hurtful ways. She criticizes your work when you don't ask for it and says it loud enough for the entire class to here. There is a quiz or test almost every week. The webwork involves questions we don't go over in class and the Stats tutors don't know how to help with some of them.

Hard to understand, disrespectful, not approachable with questions or help. Will call you out in front of classmates for incorrect work.

She is mean and does not care about students outside of class. I realize she may have things going on outside of school, but in a classroom, you need to be professional and kind. She is extremely strict and will grade you badly just to humble you. DO NOT TAKE STATS WITH HER.

I made this account specifically to warn other students about this teacher. As a transfer student today was my first day of class at UW-LaCrosse. She embarrassed me in front of the entire class to the point where I already terminated my enrollment at the school within the same day. I am meeting with student life to hopefully make change.

My comment has been taken down a couple times by this prof, but here is a summary of what is so terrible with her. Can't understand her accent, tests are way too hard for a gen ed, mean, and she tests on material not in the homework. Take a different stats prof, also if you want a laugh scroll through some of the fake comments here.

On the second day of class, she humiliated the boy who sat in front of me. She is not friendly and doesn't explain things well. The quizzes will have things in them that you never talked about in class. I would not take any classes with her ever again. If I could put zero stars I would.

Please look up your professors!! This professor does a good job of not helping you, I asked her a question on a problem that used some stuff from the pre-chapter, and I was given no answer other than "If you don't remember what we did in Chapter P. you should drop my class." after this I should have recorded this because I think that is outrageous.

The material itself is not the most difficult when you actually understand what you are doing. Do not rely on her for help because she will not help you. I'm a chem major who has taken many upper level chem and physics classes. To this day i say that elementary stats with Irina is thougher than organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, analystical chemistry, and all the other insanely hard classes ive taken. She is mean, tests you on stuff you haven't covered, and will not help you. Worst prof at UWL

I would rather drop out than take another class of hers. Any semi-decent review was 100% concocted by her. Absolutely no respect for students and is not afraid to publically humuliate you. I can't understand how she still has a job.

The crazy thing about this class is that I didn't even take or had it. My friend had this class and everything from these comments is word for word exactly true from what he told me. Again I did not take this class and I am telling you not to take this class!!

This is one of the worst teachers I've ever had. She doesn't speak good English at all, and has a heavy Russian accent. She doesn't do any good review on problems and speeds through all class material at her pace and at her knowledge level. If you see this teacher come up on your schedule I'm warning you don't take her class.

If you have this professor drop the class. You can't understand her and she is incredibly rude. She doesn't explain the problems and got mad when I would ask questions. Had to withdraw because she was so intolerable.

All she does is write stuff on the board all class every class and expects you to know it instantly, doesn't give homework so you just have to take notes and try to understand it which is nearly impossible. Don't even try asking her questions because she will make you feel worthless in front of the whole class and call you out.

Dont bother asking questions in class she will humiliate you and make you feel worthless. Make sure u don't miss class bc she's not gonna put the lecture online or help u catch up. This class was TRECHEROUS with Irina. She doesn't give out homework, which you think would be nice initially, but it really isn't. She gives out weekly quizzes up to 40 points and the test given are only 10 questions but 70 points. Overall, if you understand math this class may be fine, but if you don't DON'T TAKE IT.

She's very rude, picky, and very passive aggressive. I got kicked out of class for packing up one min early, a classmate was scolded for taking a pic of an example and she ripped a guy's headphones off. She hates it when we don't understand a problem. She'll give you a positive thinking sheet if you do bad then roast the people who did bad.

She is not a very good teacher, only gives quizzes and tests so study good because you have no buffer to improve your grade if you do poorly on an exam. She will publicly shame you if you do a problem incorrectly. Is overall not very kind, or helpful. She does have an accent, but it's understandable.

If you struggle even a little bit with math I urge you to take any other professor. It was hard to keep up with her lectures because she would rush through everything on the board. It was hard to understand her accent sometimes. Most days she had a bad attitude or was rude. She made someone cry in my class. I dropped the course my freshman year.

She is VERY mean. She is only nice if you do a problem exactly how she would, and I mean exactly, if you skip a step or make a slight error, she will be yelling at you without explaining. She's a tough grader but does offer extra credit points in class. Would not recommend at all. She will also call you stupid.

She is genuinely one of the WORST professors I've experienced, as a first year student. She will yell at you, belittle you, call you dumb. She will accuse you of anything, and everything if she doesn't like you. She gives you maybe 20 out of 55 min to complete quizzes, and maybe 30 to complete a 4 page test. She grades horribly. VERY disrespectful.
